Work Text
Saitama knew what day it was - sales day at the supermarket! He had been preparing all week, making lists of what they needed and reading up on what would be the cheapest. He had divided the shopping list into two, so that Genos could take one half of the store and Saitama he other. He had even forced the teen to go to sleep early so that they'd be ready when the supermarket opened. It was time for all his hard work to be rewarded. He had his half of the shopping list and moved strategically, grabbing the products they needed and then some (he knew Genos liked those sardines). Everything was going according to plan, and he even felt some excitement at meeting up with Genos to pay and see how much they’d saved. He was just about to snatch the last eggs on sale when he heard it. Some teen girls walked by talking about ‘Kissing day’ and how they were gonna go out tonight. He froze for just a second, and someone else took the eggs before he could react. He shot them a dirty glare, but was still distracted by this apparent Kissing day. When they met up at the counter and payed he temporarily forgot about it, as they discussed what they saved and brainstormed ways to improve their techniques for the next big sale. And just being with Genos was so comfortable in itself that he never actually thought about kissing him until he was alone again. They walked home chatting about anything that crossed their minds, and unpacked their groceries together, both of them used to moving around each other in the tiny kitchen. Saitama put the eggs and milk in the fridge, and Genos put canned foods and rice in the cupboard. It wasn’t until Saitama sat reading a manga that the concept crossed his mind again. Genos was in the kitchen still, probably rubbing away at that grease stain he constantly grumbled about. ‘Kissing day’. He’d never heard of that before, but then again, he often forgot about stuff he didn’t care about. And he had never cared about kissing someone before Genos. They’d never actually done anything before - it had barely been two weeks since they confessed and both had been more than comfortable staying the way they were, just moving their futons a little closer and falling asleep with their limbs tangled together. It was really nice. Saitama had never been with someone that didn’t make him feel pressured to do stuff with them before. Genos was … so good, and understanding, and patient, to a point that Saitama doubted he even deserved. He never thought he would find someone like that. After a while, Genos sighed and gave up on the stain and came to sit down beside Saitama. They shared a smile before they both turned to doing their own thing. Though Saitama’s mind was stuck on kissing. “Hey Genos.”“Sensei?” Genos looked up from his notebook. “Um”, he breathed, hesitating for just a moment. Genos waited. “I heard these girls talk about today being Kissing day apparently. Did you know about that?” he asked with a sheepish laugh. Genos gasped.“No, but I will immediately research this”, he said and grabbed his phone. Saitama entertained himself with watching his face frown in concentration. He always looked so angry when he was busy doing stuff. A few minutes later he looked up, eyes glistening over whatever he had found out.“Sensei! You’re right as always! Today is Kissing day, ever since the first kiss was shown in a Japanese movie. In the movie the characters kissed with a window between them, but it still counted. People celebrate today by kissing, or trying out kissing through a glass to get the same feeling as the movie.”“Huh. What a weird thing”, Saitama mused. He couldn’t imagine kissing with a window between them to be all that nice. “Sensei”, Genos mumbled, pulling Saitama out of his thoughts. “Did you… wish to celebrate kissing day…?” And he may be a deadly battle cyborg, but he still fiddled as he asked, and Saitama felt his heart flutter. “... Sure, why not?” Saitama chuckled, looking at the floor.Genos’ chest started glowing at that, and he gave one of his tiny smiles. This was uncharted territory for both of them, so he moved carefully to sit in front of Saitama. They looked at each other for a while, searching for courage and consent. Saitama made the first move, after taking a long, shaky breath. He reached for Genos’ neck, resting his fingers by between the shoulder and the neck and stroking the muscle there with his thumb. He almost wanted to chuckle again, with how his heart beat faster than it ever did when he fought. Genos sighed at the touch and leaned in. They rested their foreheads against each other and closed their eyes, in no hurry to reach this new milestone in their relationship. “Saitama.”“Yeah?”Genos cleared his throat, “have you ever kissed anyone before?”“Hmm”, Saitama considered it,” yeah, a few times, but I didn’t like it.”“But you still want to try again?” Genos asked. He had one eye open, peeking at his sensei.“Yes,” Saitama said with certainty,” you’re… The best person I’ve met, Genos. I’m comfortable with you.”“I’m glad”, Genos smiled. He reached for the hand still resting against his neck and took it. With both hands cradling Saitama’s, he confessed,” I feel the same way. I know you will always look out for me.”“Yeah. I will”, Saitama sighed and leaned more heavily into him. “Man, dude, Genos. I’d do anything for you.” Being this close, he felt a wave of fondness take over him. He really would - he wanted Genos to be the happiest person alive. He deserved that!Genos squeezed their hands slightly before he moved and grabbed Saitama’s face to tilt his head upwards. They gazed into each other's eyes for a moment, before Genos asked,” is this okay?”Saitama’s heart jumped, realizing it was about to happen. He jerked away involuntarily, and Genos let him go, not even looking disappointed. “Just a sec”, he blurted, taking a few deep breaths. He felt his cheeks heat up. “Ok, I’m fine. It’s okay.”“Okay”, Genos said and carefully touched his cheek again. This time Saitama met him halfway. The first kiss was short and chaste, and Saitama ended out doubled over, head pressed against Genos’ vents in embarrassment. Genos tried not to laugh, and held him close as he calmed down. When he looked back up his face was red and his lower lip jutted out childishly. “Don’t laugh at me”, he mumbled.“I will try”, Genos replies, his eyes glowing. Saitama leaned forward again, this time kissing the side of Genos mouth, and then once again on his cheek. His hand combed through his hair. Genos released some steam and put one hand against Saitama’s back, pulling him closer. Their mouths met for a second time, lingering for several heartbeats before they pulled away. Saitama gripped Genos’ hair tighter for support, almost curling in on himself because of the thousands of butterflies tickling his stomach. Genos panted with his eyes half lidded, already trying to pull him closer. For their third kiss Genos tried to deepen the contact. He nibbled on Saitama’s lip and licked against his teeth. Saitama opened his mouth and they moaned into each other for about two seconds before he pulled away again, putting his hand up to keep Genos from following.“O-one moment”, he gasped. Genos leaned back immediately, quickly regaining his posture.“Was that too much?” he asked, putting a hand on Saitama’s knee.“A little”, he admitted,”sorry.”“It’s okay.”Once Saitama had caught his breath he let go of Genos and leaned his back against the wall. He looked up in contemplation.“I knew I’d like kissing you”, he concluded.“You did?” Genos said, looking far too hopeful for a battle cyborg.“Yeah.”Genos grinned, his chest glowing brighter again. His hair was a little messy where Saitama had grabbed it, and his fans whirred louder than they had in a long while, but he looked so dopey and cute that Saitama couldn’t help but grin back.“I really wanna kiss you more. Some other time. Maybe before we go to sleep tonight”, he said.“Yes!” Genos said, standing up as though ready to go to bed right now, despite it being early afternoon. “Hey Genos.” “Sensei?” Genos looked down at him.“Happy Kissing day.”
