Breathe. Ready. Aim. Fire. This is what Hoseok always told himself when he was about to fire upon any who had wronged him or his employer. Being a hitman wasn't exactly his original career of choice, but it was his life now. Whether the person was innocent or guilty, it didn't faze him when the bullet buried itself in their flesh. He took their hope.
Hoseok sat up on the darkened balcony, using the scope on his gun to lock onto his target. He was at a gala currently, it was a large party with a lot of people. This didn't faze the hitman. He clicked off the safety on the gun, his breathing slow and paced. He could only hear his own heartbeat, focusing only on the man who would soon be lying on the floor with a bullet embedded at the base of his neck. The trigger clicked as Hoseok pulled it, time seemingly slowing down. The man dropped to the floor, blood already beginning to pool. Screams echoed around the room, people began running. Hoseok slipped out of a large window and onto the roof, a mask covering the lower half of his face and a smug smile upon it. "Goddamn it! Seokjin-hyung help me with this, I can't think of what to write for this essay." Yoongi's voice rang out, an annoyed sigh escaping his lips. He was currently attempting to write this essay for his final exam in his last year of college. He was a law student who was studying and training to become a detective.
Seokjin sighed as he walked over to Yoongi, standing right behind him and gazing over his shoulder.
"I don't know how to help at this point, Yoongi-ah. Unless they offer you an alternate assignment, you're doomed." Seokjin stated, shrugging and ruffling the younger's hair.
"Wow. Thanks for the encouragement." Yoongi stated bluntly, rolling his eyes at the older male. "I don't know what I'm going to do, this was supposed to be my last year here." Seokjin shrugged.
"Just ask if they have an alternate assignment for you. Sometimes they offer jobs to those in their final year." Seokjin suggested, offering a smile to Yoongi.
"Maybe. I'll see if I can come up with anything else." Yoongi replied, going back to focusing on his paper. Yoongi set his things down on his table, sighing. Today was their third to last day to work on their essays. There was still a test to be taken.
"Attention students! We have a special announcement. This is a rare opportunity that comes for those hoping to investigate crime. The police department has been tracking down a hitman by the name of J-Hope. They need a detective to continue this case as they have many other reports coming in. Is there any of you who might be interested?" Yoongi immediately raised his hand, hoping to get out of having to write that dreadful essay.
This is what brought Yoongi to be sitting in the police station with the police chief. He ran him through the facts of the case, saying that he must also focus on academics while chasing down the criminal. The dark headed male was willing to do anything to get out of having to write that big essay.
"The guy goes by J-Hope, being he pretty much takes any hope from anyone he kills and those they love. He's very skilled in combat, so if you are to interact with him, be prepared. We will be supplying you with any weapons we can. We wish you luck with this case, Detective Min." The chief spoke, obviously very serious about this case. Yoongi nodded, shaking hands with the older.
He exited the office and headed to where he'd be given his equipment for the investigation. He had to keep anything he found out written down and turn it into the police. They have him a small handgun, a couple daggers and some basic self-defense items. He could tell just by the way they talked about this hitman, he was dangerous and Yoongi had to find him. Yoongi laid in his bed in the dorm, his eyes staring at the ceiling. He had told Seokjin about the case he was now following. It was obvious the older male had heard of the guy and knew what he was capable of. Yoongi knew that he'd have to do some research to really understand the reason why this case was so important. If he was this dangerous, why had they handed it off to a law student?
Yoongi pondered as he laid in his bed, sleepless nights weren't a new thing for him. His mind never seemed to shut up. He reached for his phone and turned on some soft music, making sure it wasn't too loud to where it would wake his roommate up. Music helped him concentrate. He soon drifted off to sleep from pure exhaustion.
The sunlight streamed into the window that was situated above Yoongi's bed. It was seven A.M. and today was one day he didn't have class, also known as the day he'd start to work on the case for the police department.
The short male rolled out of bed, yawning as he ran a hand through his hair. He grabbed his glasses so he didn't trip over something while walking to the bathroom. Seokjin was already gone, no surprise. For some reason, his roommate had picked mostly morning classes for this year. Probably because he spent the afternoon's hanging out with his boyfriend, Namjoon.
Yoongi quietly got ready for his day, dressing in simple clothes like he'd wear to class. He wanted to be comfortable, not wanting to stand out and literally say 'hey I'm investigating a really dangerous criminal' just by his clothes. He didn't bother to put in his contacts, leaving his dark rimmed glasses on. They pretty much matched his black hair. Yoongi sat in the small campus café, his laptop sitting on the table with a steaming cup of coffee sitting beside it. He sighed and typed criminal's name into the search bar and his eyes widened at what came up. There were photos of his victims, most of them shot at the base of their neck, right where the spinal cord connects to the brain. It was an instant kill when shot there, the person felt no pain. Yoongi's eyes scanned the pages and the news articles that popped up. This guy was beyond what he had expected.
"Did you order a scone?" Yoongi looked up to meet another pair of eyes. He scanned the newcomer's face. He hair a fair complexion and his hair was a light peachy blonde. A bright smile was displayed on his face. Yoongi nodded in answer to the question.
"Thanks." The newcomer set the plate that held the scone down next to the student.
"You looked really concentrated... what are you looking at? I'm guessing something for a class?" Yoongi simply cocked an eyebrow at him. "Sorry to intrude, just asking."
"No, it's fine. You can take a seat if you'd like." Yoongi responded, assuming it would be no problem at all. The newcomer pulled a chair out, sitting down adjacent to Yoongi.
"Thanks. My name's Hoseok, by the way." The light headed male stated, that bright smile still stretched across his face. Yoongi nodded.
"Yoongi. I'm guessing you work here?" The shorter of the two inquired, managing a tight lipped smile. He wasn't one that liked getting interrupted, but he was too nice to tell Hoseok off.
"Yeah. Also, what are you working on? I noticed you were really interested in whatever is on that computer screen of yours." Hoseok questioned, scooting closer to his new acquaintance. His smiled turned into more of a nervous one as he noticed what the other had been researching.
"I'm a law student and they put me on this guy's case. Apparently he's pretty dangerous." Yoongi sighed softly and lifted up his bag and showed Hoseok the inside of his jacket. A dagger sat strapped to the inside of his clothing, in case he needed quick self defense. Yoongi didn't seem to notice the other's nervous smile. "For self defense if needed."
"Wow. I've heard of that guy before. People say he's pretty good looking too. It's good you have self defense though, never know when you'll meet him or some other criminal." Hoseok responded, letting out a nervous laugh. He shouldn't be nervous, he had killed so many people before they could lay a hand on him. Though, for some reason, his heart seemed to ache at the idea of killing the male sitting next to him. He just couldn't imagine it. Yoongi simply nodded in response and took a sip of his coffee. "I should probably get back to work... we should keep in touch though. Could I give you my number?"
Yoongi looked up at him then pulled out his phone, sliding it towards him once it was unlocked and on the correct screen. "I'm usually pretty busy with my studying, but I have a couple days off." He stated, closing his laptop. There was more progress to be made on this case. Hoseok happily took the phone and typed his phone number in, giving it back to Yoongi after uploading a silly contact photo. The taller made his way back to the counter, making a 'call me' signal to the other. Yoongi rolled his eyes at the childishness of Hoseok and made his way out of the cafe after packing up his computer. He felt as if there was something off with his new friend.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

"Another victim?!" Yoongi exclaimed. It was days later and there had already been three more deaths. There had also been higher crime rates over all recently and Yoongi was getting suspicious. Someone had to know he was investigating, he had already had to defend himself once from a criminal who was now detained. This J-Hope guy must be like the overlord of criminals. "Yep. Shot in the typical place. We need to stop this guy before it gets any worse. He's too dangerous. We can't track him down by employer being he works for many people. You have to find him, Yoongi-ah." The police chief replied, sighing. "We're trying to get some insights as to where his next attack might be." Yoongi nodded. "Yes sir. I'll keep doing my best to find this guy." He stated, managing a slight, tight lipped smile. Yoongi sat down at his normal table in the café, knowing Hoseok would probably be there. They had slowly become friends, even if they were complete opposites in some aspects. Maybe that's what made them bond well. "You look stressed." Hoseok stated as he slid into the chair adjacent from Yoongi, his typical smile danced across his lips. "I am. I'm barely getting anywhere with this case. This guy is so hard to catch." Yoongi responded, taking a sip of the tea that the other had brought him. It usually helped him relax to just sit and talk to Hoseok, especially with the amazing tea that the café made. He sighed and typed in a couple different criminals into the search bar, trying to figure out if any of them had any ties to J-Hope. His search came up blank, not showing any results about the hitman. "You know..." Yoongi jumped slightly when Hoseok spoke up. "You could already know the guy, but you just don't know that yourself. People aren't always as they seem, hyung." Hoseok kept his smile, but his eyes had an odd fire behind them that Yoongi hadn't noticed before. He attempted to ignore it. "True... But I think I'd know a top of the bar hitman if I saw one." Yoongi replied, sighing. He closed his computer. He'd have to work more on this case later. He stayed to talk with Hoseok a bit more, simply going over what had been going on since they last saw each other. Yoongi walked into the party, having gotten word that a possible criminal with a link to J-Hope would be spotted here. He was wearing a somewhat nice tux, but it was rigged with weapons for his self defense. He also wore a flat bullet proof vest underneath his clothing. He didn't want to die tonight. The short male sat at one of the tables, a drink sitting next to him untouched. His eyes scanned his surroundings, searching for any suspicious activity. Yoongi caught something out of the corner of his eye and looked up, noticing someone walking upstairs who was looking down on the crowd as if he was trying to find the best angle to complete the kill. Yoongi quickly got up and made his way to the same area, being able to see all the people below him. He crouched low and slowly made his way around to where the man as set himself up, gun in hand. Five minutes passed and Yoongi waited for the right moment. The assassin wrapped his finger around the trigger of the gun. The detective had already called for backup and they were waiting outside for his signal. Yoongi stepped out from the shadows he had been hiding in and raised his gun at the other. "You're under arrest for many counts of murder. Take your hands off the weapon and put your hands on your head." Yoongi stated firmly, his hands steady on the gun with one finger on the trigger. The guy just snickered and dropped the gun to the floor. "I don't think you'll be taking me anywhere. I know who you are, Detective Min, so does the rest of the criminal underworld. You're just a college student who got unlucky enough to be put on the big guy's case." The assassin stated, smirking darkly at the shorter detective. Yoongi stood his ground, his gun not lowering one bit. The next thing Yoongi knew, a knife was thrown in his direction. He managed to dodge, firing his gun at the criminal. It didn't hit its target and instead embedded itself into the wall. The assassin ran at him, knife in hand. Yoongi managed to dodge a few times, but was soon pushed to the ground by the other. The knife was pushed to his throat and a gash was present right above his brow. He knew Hoseok would worry, but he couldn't think about that right now. Yoongi struggled, his hand searching for some type of weapon. His hand managed to grasp the gun he had previously dropped. As the knife was pressed against his throat, he lifted his arm and used all of his remaining strength to bring the bottom end of the gun down right at the back of the assassin's head. Immediately, the knife was removed from his throat and the assassin slumped. Yoongi gasped for air and called for his backup, blood running down his temple from the gash. One criminal down, too many to count to go. About a week later, Yoongi returned to the café. He had been swamped with finals and having to investigate the case didn't help. The gash on his head was healing well and it was only a smaller gash now. It had needed a couple stitches being it had been somewhat deep. He sat in the corner at the back of the building, not wanting to be questioned about the cut. As soon as he saw Hoseok's face, he knew that wouldn't be possible. "Hyung! What happened?" Hoseok inquired, attempting to examine the gash. Yoongi pushed his hands away. "I'm fine, Hoseok-ah. I just had a run in with an assassin, he managed to catch me off guard." The older explained, sighing softly. He expected that Hoseok would freak out. "You need to be more careful." The other male stated, as if he was a mom scolding a child. Yoongi just shook his head and drank his tea. He changed the subject, having just remembered something. "Hoseok... My roommate is leaving for the week and I was wondering if you'd maybe like to come hang out in my apartment? Normally I don't like to have people over, but being I've been cooped up all week it would be nice to have some company." Yoongi asked sheepishly, somewhat hoping Hoseok wouldn't reject the invitation. Something about the younger's growing smile told him he wouldn't. "Sure!" Hoseok responded, before looking as if he had remembered something. "But I might have to leave a couple nights, I have... friends who throw events a lot so I'm out at night sometimes." He explained, his smile still dancing across his lips. "Okay, that's fine with me. I live in the building right across the street, third floor, apartment 4. If you get lost just text me and I'll come find you." Yoongi explained, going ahead and texting the younger his information. Hoseok nodded and saved the text to his phone. Hoseok knocked at Yoongi's door, a smile stretched across his face. He had a suitcase with him, filled with his clothes for the week. He didn't tell Yoongi about his actual plans when he went out. Yoongi opened the door, stepping to the side to allow Hoseok to enter. "Glad you were able to find it okay. I really didn't feel like coming to get you." Yoongi stated, closing the door and sitting down on the couch. "You can either take Seokjin's room or we can try to both stay in mine." Hoseok placed his things down near the door, taking off his shoes and the light coat he had thrown on. He then turned to face Yoongi, his smile not leaving. "So... what do you want to do?" Hoseok inquired, moving to sit next to Yoongi on the couch. "We can watch a movie or play some video games if you want." Yoongi offered,"or we can just sit here." Hoseok moved to grab the remote, turning on the TV and finding a movie that was on. "I guess that decides it." Yoongi turned off the lights, causing the television to be the only thing lighting up the room. He then laid down on the couch, laying more towards the outside. The next thing he knew, Hoseok jumped onto the couch and climbed up next to him. The two of them laid there together, their eyes trained on the television. As his eyes slowly became heavier, Yoongi drifted off to sleep. Yoongi's eyes slowly opened, a soft sigh escaping his lips. He noticed that he was now facing Hoseok, the other also having his arms around him. He just allowed himself to remain there, surprisingly feeling safe in Hoseok's arms. It felt odd to be so close to someone without having a knife to his throat. He couldn't help but to worry that Hoseok was using him to get information or to alert the hitman of any advances. He laid there, his mind running through all the what-ifs about Hoseok it could. That is, until Hoseok opened his eyes and pulled Yoongi a bit closer. "You look worried, hyung. Is everything okay?" Hoseok questioned, obviously concerned. "Yes... it's just the case I'm working on has me questioning a lot of people. I trust you, Hoseok-ah, but I can't help but to worry that you're only really being kind to me to get something out of it." Yoongi murmured, sighing and looking down. He thought he had made a mistake by explaining when Hoseok didn't respond. He felt a couple fingers right beneath his chin and his head was tilted up. The next thing he knew, Hoseok closed the gap between their lips. The older male's eyes widened slightly before he allowed himself to slowly return the kiss, not wanting Hoseok to feel like he had done something wrong. As they pulled away, Hoseok spoke. "I wouldn't have done that if I was using you, hyung. I'm here and I spend time with you because... I love you." Hoseok muttered, just loud enough for Yoongi to hear. He knew that Yoongi was right to be suspicious of him, but he was telling the truth. He really had fallen in love with the hyung, but he knew that it wouldn't last. He'd be turned in as soon as Yoongi found out who he was, and he understood why. He was a dangerous criminal wanted for multiple counts of murder. He knew Yoongi would be terrified of him immediately. "I... love you too..." Yoongi murmured, a soft smile making its way onto his face. His face felt a bit hot as he nuzzled into the younger, sighing softly. "Thank you, Hoseok." The younger nodded and let out a soft huff. After laying there a bit longer, Hoseok spoke up. "We should go to the mall or something... might as well get out right?" Yoongi nodded softly in reply and rolled from the couch. It would be a nice day off, or at least he hoped it would be.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Hoseok pulled Yoongi into the mall, obviously somewhat excited to be there. He had already rambled on in the car about what stores he wanted to go to. Yoongi had just nodded and tuned the younger male out. Yoongi and Hoseok sat in the food court, eating quietly. However, Hoseok had taken the hyung's hand and interlaced their fingers on the table. Yoongi felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, originally planning to ignore it. This changed when it kept buzzing and soon started ringing. He sighed in frustration, pulling it out and answering quickly when he noticed it was the police chief. "There's a shooting in progress, Detective Min. Get over there right now, we've texted you the address." The voice came over the phone strong and obviously annoyed, probably because Yoongi hadn't answered quick enough. The hyung quickly got up out of his seat and Hoseok looked at him with concerned filling his eyes. "Shooting in process, I have to go. I'm sorry, Hoseok, I'll make it up to you." Yoongi stated, leaning down and softly pecking the younger's lips before running off towards the parking lot. He quickly strapped on his weapons before speeding to the address, feeling lucky there wasn't tons of traffic on the road today. He reached the address he had been given, being able to hear shots and screams from the road. He ran in, pressing himself against a wall inside. He walked slowly, dead bodies littering the floor. Many people were shot right in between the eyes and on the left side of their chest. Yoongi tried to ignore the groans of those barely alive, knowing he wouldn't be able to get them help in time. It was obvious this had been some type of party. The dark headed male crouched as he heard steps on the stairwell, gun ready to fire. His breathing was quiet and shallow, all he could hear was the blood roaring in his ears. "Come out detective, I know you're here." The criminal's voice rang out and Yoongi bit his lip softly. He was wearing his bullet proof vest at least. "I won't shoot. I just want to have a conversation." Yoongi cautiously moved from his spot, but not before calling for backup. He held the gun up in front of him as he came into the shooter's view. He recognized the guy, having seen him on wanted lists. He wouldn't hesitate to kill the other male, knowing it was allowed in self defense. The shooter climbed down the stairs, the gun sitting at his side as he approached the detective. Yoongi still did not lower his gun. "Like my masterpiece here? I tried oh-so hard." The shooter grinned, an insane look filling his eyes. "You'll just complete it." Yoongi's eyes widened and he rolled to the side as the shooter fired the gun. The bullet buried itself in the wall behind him and the criminal laughed. Yoongi figured that there wouldn't be a civil conversation. The dark headed male ran from the shooter, firing back when he could. Yoongi thought he'd last until the backup arrived, but that changed when he was caught off guard. The shooter came around a corner, his fist connecting with the side of Yoongi's head. The shorter of the two was hit to the ground, his gun scattering to the side. Yoongi attempted to grab the gun, but he cried out as a bullet buried itself in his upper arm. Pain coursed through his body, blood running down his arm now. The shooter lowered the gun, aiming straight at the detective's head. Yoongi silently and slowly used his hand to grab the knife that was strapped on the back of his leg. As the shooter's finger slid onto the trigger, Yoongi threw the knife without aiming, simply hoping it would hit its target. The scream filled Yoongi's ears as the knife buried itself hilt deep in the shooter's chest. The gun dropped to the floor and the man did so as well. A second later, Yoongi's backup ran into the house. They evacuated the man, being he was still breathing, and rushed him to the hospital. Yoongi was taken from the house and transported to the hospital as well, trying not to go into shock because of his arm. The adrenaline had worn off and all he could feel was the pain. Yoongi laid in one of the rooms in the ER. Doctors were already there, hooking him up to an IV. They had decided it would be best to put the dark headed male under while removing the bullet. Yoongi slowly felt himself going under, all he could hear was the heart monitor and his blood roaring.___________ Hoseok got the call as soon as Yoongi arrived at the hospital. He grabbed his coat and jumped in his car, having taken a taxi home from the mall after Yoongi left. The light headed male rushed into the ER, questioning many times where Yoongi was. One of the nurses, escorted him back while trying to calm him down. "He still hasn't came out from the sedation, but he should be soon. They had to put him under to remove the bullet." The nurse explained to Hoseok as she opened the door for him. He rushed to Yoongi's side, feeling tears come to his eyes. He didn't know why this hurt him so much. He had done this to people before, he killed people almost everyday. Yet, it felt as if his heart was being ripped out when he saw Yoongi with a bandaged arm that hid the path of a bullet. He pulled a chair to the side of the bed and grasped the other's hand, intertwining their fingers slowly. It was only moments later that Yoongi slowly opened his eyes, the pain flooding back into his arm. Hoseok looked up, letting tears of relief fall from his eyes. "H... Hoseok?" Yoongi croaked, obviously still somewhat groggy from being put under. Hoseok pulled the hyung into a hug, though still being cautious of the arm. "I was so worried, Yoongi-hyung... When I got the call... I didn't know what to expect when I got here..." Hoseok murmured, feeling Yoongi rest his hand on his back lightly. "I'm alright, Hoseok-ah... I'm glad they called y-" Yoongi was cut off by Hoseok connecting their lips, the two of them melting into the kiss. It was a desperate kiss, as if they had been separated for something close to a year. Hoseok's heart was pounding, still not having calmed down from the panic he had felt when the call had been received. He hadn't ever felt in such a way for someone, felt as if he needed to protect them from things he inflicted on others himself. Yoongi was released from the hospital moments later with Hoseok as his 'caretaker'. The younger would often ask if Yoongi was comfortable or if he needed anything only to have Yoongi deny it and often roll his eyes. Hoseok didn't take it personally and knew that it was just Yoongi. He was just worried about his boyfriend. "What do you want to eat?" Hoseok spoke up as they arrived at Yoongi's apartment. "I'll make something or we can order takeout. I have to go out tomorrow night so I want us to stay here." Yoongi simply shrugged as he opened the door, jumping slightly when Hoseok reached past him to hold it open. "Whatever you want is fine with me, Hoseok-ah." He muttered, taking off his shoes at the door and collapsing on the couch with a loud huff of air leaving his lips. He winced slightly as his injured arm brushed the solid form of the couch, but made a point not to let Hoseok noticed. He knew he'd be scolded. "Alright... how about I just order some pizza, hyung? It's simple enough right?" Hoseok asked rhetorically, not really expecting a response from Yoongi. He pulled out his phone and called the local Pizza Hut after looking up the number. Yoongi remained sprawled out on the couch, only grunting in reply to Hoseok's 'question'. His eyes were closed, his chest slowly rising and falling. He felt exhausted, hoping Hoseok wouldn't be as loud as he usually was. "The pizza will be here in around 20 minutes." Hoseok called, making his way over to the couch and standing in front of Yoongi as he looked down at the hyung. "Are you going to make room for me, hyung?" Yoongi cracked an eye open to look at him and grumbled softly. "And why exactly would I do that?" Yoongi muttered, closing his eye and snuggling into the pillow under his head. Hoseok huffed softly. "Fine, I'll find my own spot." The younger giggled softly and sat down right on top of Yoongi, a smile gracing his lips. The hyung groaned and squirmed beneath Hoseok. "Hoseok-ah, the hell? Don't just sit on top of me, you're going to crush me." Yoongi let out what was an attempted annoyed sigh, but sounded more like a winded breath. "You don't really mean that, hyung." Hoseok stated, pouting softly and crossing his arms like a child. "I'm as light as a feather." "That must be one dense feather that you're comparing yourself to." Yoongi grumbled, rolling his eyes as the younger male. Hoseok continued to pout, not moving from his place on top of Yoongi. Hoseok remained in his place until the doorbell rang, pretty much sprinting to the door. Yoongi groaned in relief, managing to sit up. He watched as Hoseok paid the delivery man, thanking him. He retreated back into the house, placing the pizza on the coffee table. "What do you want to drink, hyung?" Hoseok inquired, making his way to the fridge. He grabbed a soda for himself as he waited for Yoongi's response. "There's a thing of tea in there, can you grab one? Seokjin makes sure to keep it stocked up." Yoongi called after the younger, not moving an inch until Hoseok came back with the drinks. He sat up to make room for his boyfriend, taking the tea with a gracious nod. He hoped it would be a nice night with just him and Hoseok.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Yoongi curled up to his boyfriend, a yawn escaping his lips. Hoseok couldn't help but to stare, simply admiring the hyung. He truly wondered how long he'd be able to keep his job a secret from the older. He hadn't wanted their relationship to be formed on a lie. He cared for Yoongi more than anyone ever before. The younger wrapped a light arm around Yoongi, resting his head on top of his. The TV screen flashed as the movie began to play. The two of them sat in silence, beginning to eat. Hoseok became lost in thought, his eyes watering with unshed tears. He was going over what Yoongi's reaction to his true background would be. He didn't want to lose the other, his heart feeling like it was being ripped out of his chest at even the thought. "Hoseok-ah...? Are you okay?" Yoongi murmured, his eyes scanning the younger male's face in concern. Hoseok snapped out of his gaze, looking down at the older. "Yes... sorry, hyung... Just lost in thought." He willed the unshed tears away and managed a tight lipped smile. Yoongi could tell the other was lying, but wasn't going to push him. He simply snuggled closer to his lboyfriend and held onto him tightly.
Yoongi groaned softly as the pain returned to his arm, having just woken up. He had fallen asleep on Hoseok while they were watching a movie and the younger had just laid them down on the couch. He was laying on top of Hoseok, the other still asleep beneath him. He sighed in content, allowing himself to bury his face into his lover's neck. "Good morning to you too." He jumped slightly at Hoseok's voice, a smile making it's way onto his face. He yawned softly and nuzzled the younger. "Morning." He mumbled softly. Hoseok ruffled his hair, making him grumble in mock-annoyance. He sighed, enjoying the familiar scent of his boyfriend. "I have class today... plus I got a message last night saying they have a lead on J-Hope and he has a target at a party tonight so I probably won't see you till later." Yoongi pouted softly. Hoseok nearly felt his heart stop, the job tonight was important, being the target was a big company CEO. "I'm sorry, Hoseok." Yoongi pecked the younger's nose softly. "I promise I'll let you know as soon as we can get together again." Hoseok nodded, a forced smile gracing his lips. "Alright, Yoongi-hyung, go get ready for class." With this, Yoongi pulled himself away from the other's warm body and made his way to the shower, though not before pressing a soft kiss to his boyfriend's lips. Hoseok got up as soon as he heard the water turn on. He was panicking, not knowing what to do about the party tonight. Yoongi was going to investigate and he was going to be there for a job. He couldn't lose the older, he couldn't. He felt like crying, why did he have to fall in love with the one person who was investigating him? He quickly wrote a note for his boyfriend and left it on the kitchen counter, letting the other know he'd text. He then made his way from the house, quickly getting into his car. He was about to leave when his phone rang. He pulled the device from his pocket and sighed, seeing his main employer was calling. He hit answer, only to hear yelling from the other end. "Sir, I cannot understand anything when you are yelling." The man on the other side of the phone quickly apologized and what he said next made Hoseok freeze. "Along with your other target, you must eliminate Detective Min Yoongi for me. I believe you know who he is by now." Hoseok offered a confirmation and he remained frozen. "I'll suspect to see a photo of his dead body on the front page tomorrow morning." As the phone line went dead, tears filled Hoseok's eyes. He couldn't kill his boyfriend, he'd avoid it at all costs. He drove away, trying to ignore the aching of his heart as he did so. This would be a long night and he might lose the love of his life.__________Yoongi rushed home after class, needing to change for the party tonight. He regretted not being able to stop by to see Hoseok, but he needed to get this job done. He dressed up in a nice outfit, a blazer resting over his button up and dark jeans curving over his legs. He always tried to look his best when doing things like this. He strapped a couple knives into the sides of his blazer and placed a gun to the side of his leg that was the same color of his pants. Though, with the permission of the government, he could carry it wherever. Yoongi climbed into his car, extra equipment filling the back. He made a mental note to clean it out before he picked Hoseok up again. He turned on the car and programmed his GPS to the address. As the hyung arrived, he made his way into the large home. It was defiantly fancy. He knew some other murderers would be here. He needed to have his guard up the whole time. Yoongi made his way around the house, introducing himself to many people. He questioned where the bathroom was, wanting to let the police department know that he was in. There had been a few people who had been giving him looks of disgust, he figured they knew those he tried to take down. The raven haired male made his way upstairs, deciding it was probably the best bathroom to go to. This was a mistake. Yoongi was looking in the mirror, distracted by his own personal thoughts. He couldn't help but to wonder where Hoseok was, what he was doing. He heard a knock on the door and swung it open. This was a major mistake. As soon as he opened it, a gun was positioned right between his eyes. "I thought I recognized you Detective Min, didn't think you'd be here. You see, I know that J-Hope was hired to kill you but I just can't help myself." Yoongi's heart rate sped up for what he thought would be the last time. His mind ran through what he wished he could've said to Hoseok. He had seen a future with the other. He felt his eyes water, unshed tears burning. "Oh how cute, is little Min Yoongi crying?" The villain teased, the gun still aimed straight at Yoongi. "Lights out." Yoongi heard the gun's safety click off and closed his eyes, bracing himself for the pain. The shot fired, but no pain came. He slowly opened his eyes and they fell upon a familiar figure that was now laying on the ground, a bullet in the back of his neck. His eyes trailed upwards and widened, the sight before him causing him to stumble backwards to the wall. His mind ran through how impossible this was. Only one person killed like that. He had to be seeing things. This. Wasn't. Possible. "H... Hoseok?"

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

"H... Hoseok?" Yoongi's eyes were locked on his boyfriend who stood before him, gun in hand and a couple small splatters of blood upon his face. This was quite obviously from the man he had just shot at point blank range. Yoongi was frozen in fear and surprise. "I'll explain later, I promise, but we have to get out of here." Hoseok's voice was panicked. He grabbed the older's wrist and pulled him from the bathroom. The two of them ran down the stairs and Hoseok pushed through the crowd. Yoongi's common sense was slowly coming back and it dawned on him the truth of this whole situation. Hoseok showing up. The way the man had been shot. The party Hoseok had mentioned was being thrown a few days before... his boyfriend was J-Hope. Yoongi tore his wrist from Hoseok's grip, falling backwards onto the grass of the lawn at the force. His eyes were wide with fear and burning with unshed tears. Hoseok turned around, worry and regret filling his eyes. "Y-you... y-you're..." Yoongi couldn't get the words out, beginning to hyperventilate. "Hyung, please... I'll explain later but we need t-" "No!" Yoongi stood up shakily, his whole body trembling. "I-I can't believe I trusted y-you... I s-should've trusted my instincts..." Hoseok could feel his heart breaking at the older's words. "D-don't ever come near me ag-again, Hoseok... or should I say J-Hope..." The older could feel the tears streaming down his face, his heart feeling as if something had torn it apart. "Yoongi... please..." Hoseok's eyes filled with sadness. He could hear sirens in the distance. "Just... leave..." Yoongi muttered, choking on a large sob. He couldn't bring himself to allow Hoseok to be turned into the cops. No matter that the other was a mass murderer, Yoongi's love still stood in the way as mercy. Hoseok opened his mouth to say something, though deciding against it. He turned away and left, ignoring the painful wailing that his heart created in the form of pain. He regretting everything, but would never forget the time that he and Yoongi had spent together. The police soon pulled up to the house, finding Yoongi curled in on himself in the grass. His body racked with sobs and he only looked up when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Hyung? What happened?" It was Namjoon, one of his friends and Seokjin's boyfriend. Yoongi had forgotten that he worked for the police department. He didn't respond, simply returning the hug that Namjoon gave him. "Do you need me to call Seokjin-hyung? I know he's out of town, but I can drive you back to your apartment. They want me to ask you some questions anyways." Yoongi nodded and Namjoon helped him to stand, the older using him as support. Namjoon helped Yoongi into his car, the older having trusted him enough to drive. He curled into himself as soon as he was safely in his seat, tears still continuing to fall. He couldn't stop thinking of Hoseok. "Yoongi-hyung? You know you can talk to me right? I know I'm not Seokjin-hyung but I can still try and help." Namjoon's voice was calm and quiet, his eyes glancing over at Yoongi with concern every so often. Yoongi simply nodded in response and stared out of the window, feeling as if he was just an outer shell. As soon as he reached his home, Yoongi curled up on the couch with a blanket wrapped around him. Namjoon looked at him with concern. "Can you tell me anything of what happened?" The younger's voice was hushed, as if he didn't want to disturb the hyung. Yoongi would've been sobbing if his reserve of tears hadn't already been exhausted. He sighed shakily, still refusing to sit up. "The guy who was found dead found me and pointed a gun at my head. Hoseo- J-hope," Yoongi quickly corrected himself, "Came up behind him and shot him. He pulled me outside but I pushed him away." It seemed Namjoon had noticed the way Yoongi's voice cracked at the memory, heartbreak evident. "Seokjin told me about how he thought you two were perfect..." Namjoon started, surprising Yoongi that he even knew about his relationship with Hoseok. "He'd always come to me, telling me he thought you may have found the one." Yoongi could feel the dam about to break within his eyes. Namjoon smiled sadly, moving to softly hold the older comfortingly. The hyung leaned into the purple haired male, a small tear tracing down his cheek. He felt so broken, like he was beyond repair. "I'm sorry, hyung. No one suspected him. Let me know if you ever need anything, okay? I'll get the information from you later. Just, please, take care of yourself." Namjoon softly patted Yoongi's shoulder, standing afterwards. The older softly nodded and muttered a small 'thank you' before Namjoon took his leave. Yoongi sat in silence, his eyes tired and puffy from the burning tears that had just recently filled them. His heart ached for Hoseok, to be held by him, to kiss him, to just be around him. He felt used, as a plaything to gain information into his case. He felt like he didn't even know who Hoseok was any more, who he was. The dark headed male silently stared at himself in the mirror. He looked miserable, true to his actual emotions. His dark hair was a mess, dirty and unwashed. His skin looked oily and his eyes were bloodshot, displaying dark circles underneath from lack of sleep. He had gotten thinner, being his appetite had been stolen by heartbreak. It seemed as if he might collapse at any moment, he looked absolutely pitiful. Seokjin had returned just a couple hours ago and given him a long lecture. He disregarded it, having simply stared at the other with empty eyes. As Yoongi stood before the mirror, an idea came to mind. He peeked out of the doorway and called for Seokjin, waiting for the other to appear before stating his request. "Hyung, what if I dyed my hair blonde?" Seokjin looked stunned at the question and raised an eyebrow at the younger. "Why would you want to do that? Not that I'm against it, just wondering." Yoongi shrugged in response, his dark eyes panning to the large mirror. "Could you take me to get it done?" Yoongi's voice was monotone and Seokjin nodded, frowning slightly. "But you're taking a shower, and we're going out to eat. I'll force feed you if I have to." A small smile tugged at the corner of Yoongi's mouth at that comment. He groaned but nodded in agreement. "Go fix yourself up, we're leaving in an hour." Yoongi waited for Seokjin to take his leave before turning on the water for his shower. He sighed and grabbed a towel, placing it near him. He slowly undressed and stepped under the steamy water, sighing softly as it beat lightly on his pale skin. He quickly washed his hair, feeling better now that he had done so. He was hoping the blonde hair would look good on him. Yoongi pulled on a large black hoodie, accompanied by some dark, torn jeans. The sleeves of the hoodie were too long and passed his finger tips just slightly. He had put on some makeup to hide the dark circles, a small amount of eyeliner surrounding his eyes. He pulled on a beanie and his high tops, heading downstairs to meet a waiting Seokjin. "We're getting my hair done first." Yoongi demanded, his eyes dull. He still felt as if there was only an empty shell inside, his mind reminding him who Hoseok was every ten seconds. His heart would rebel against it, reminding him of how it had made him feel to be with Hoseok. He could feel tears prick at his eyes every time he thought about it. He was snapped out of it when Seokjin puffed out his cheeks and nodded in an unwanted agreement. Truthfully speaking, Yoongi wasn't even hungry. Yoongi sat in the chair, the bleach burning slightly at his scalp. Seokjin had left to go run some errands while he was sitting there and waiting. He was scrolling through his phone, his eyes scanned the screen tiredly. He didn't know if he'd ever get over Hoseok. He hadn't even been able to delete the photos of them off his phone, no matter how many times Seokjin tried to do it for him. Yoongi sat still as his hair was perfected, the now blonde strands fluffy and healthy. He stared at himself in mirror and didn't fully recognize himself with the light hair. Though, he did like it. He stood when the stylist was finished, walking towards the front desk. Seokjin gasped as soon as he noticed Yoongi's hair, immediately going to play with it. The younger sighed and paid the stylist, bowing in thanks and leaving with his hyung. The now darker headed male practically teleported them to the restaurant with how fast he drove. Yoongi was grudgingly pulled from the car, a mumble of compliant slipping from his lips. He wasn't hungry, but he knew he wouldn't escape Seokjin's grip. He ran a hand through his newly dyed hair, sighing as he followed his hyung. Soon after they were seated, Yoongi's eyes fell upon someone who had just entered and his heart dropped. He had to be seeing things. He couldn't be here.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Seokjin immediately noticed what had made Yoongi freeze in his seat. Hoseok had just walked in, his normal cheery smile no where to be seen. Yoongi looked to be on the edge of a panic attack, his eyes desperate and his breathing quick. Seokjin grabbed his arm, ushering him out of his seat and dragging him to the bathroom. Yoongi pushed himself up against the wall, searching for any security. Seokjin softly wrapped his arms around the younger, rubbing comforting circles into his back. "H-hyung?? Can we leave??" Seokjin nodded to answer Yoongi's question, quickly leading him out of the back exit. He was extremely worried about the younger's mental and physical health. He was scared for him. Yoongi laid on his bed quietly, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. His mind kept recalling Hoseok's familiar face, though lacking his normally bright smile. Was the other just as impacted by the breakup as he was? 'Stop it, Yoongi,' He thought,'Don't think like that. He's a hitman. They don't feel things'. He wanted to get away from this feeling of being empty. He was tired of feeling like this, tired of feeling cold. Yoongi made the decision then and there to sneak out tonight. He wanted to get lost in the night and be without any thought of Hoseok. This decision is what caused him to end up at the bar, a couple drinks already in his system. His blonde hair was messily styled and his eyes looked tired, dark eyeliner tracing around them. He had on black skinny jeans with a white shirt and leather jacket. Yoongi sat quietly at the bar, drink in hand. His mind felt somewhat hazy, the alcohol taking some affect on him. He still couldn't get his mind off of Hoseok, which made him want to drink even more. Yoongi decided to get up, taking his next drink with him. He sighed, walking around the people who sat conversing drunkly. Every so often, he'd come across two people who were getting a little too touchy with one another. He'd wrinkle his nose in disgust and just keep walking. The short male found himself sitting at a tall table in the corner, sipping on one drink after another. He yawned softly and laid his head down, his mind unable to focus on much from the intoxication. Yoongi was a sleepy drunk, but also very emotional when around someone who he could just rant at. When he sensed a presence, he looked up and spotted a new male who had slid into the seat next to him. He sleepily raised an eyebrow and grasped his drink, taking another sip. The newcomer's lips displayed a flirtatious smirk. "Hey, you look like you need to have some fun, maybe something to wake you up." The wink that followed made Yoongi groan and his heart unconsciously ache. He just laid his head back down, covering his eyes. He growled in irritation when he heard the next comment. "C'mon, babe, have some fun for once." The blonde was just about to go off on the guy when he heard a familiar voice and felt a hand on his shoulder, causing him to look up. A male with cherry red hair had approached and Yoongi felt as if he should recognize him. "Why don't you back off? It's obvious he doesn't want you to be talking to him." The strawberry headed male's face displayed a threatening smile. The unknown male muttered an apology and scampered off, making Yoongi question as to why he was scared of the much smaller male. "I'm sorry, hyung. He's here like every night and flirts with everyone that isn't with someone else." The smile had now turned into a frown. Yoongi looked at the other with his face twisted in confusion. It then dawned on him, this was Jimin. He was one of Seokjin's friends and he owned this bar. They had met a while ago, when Jimin had a light pink hair color. The new red was as bright as the ripest strawberry. Even in his fully intoxicated state, he was able to recognize the other. Though, before he could say anything, Jimin was pulled away to deal with something going on at the bar. Yoongi sighed as he watched the younger walk away, making the decision to down the rest of his drink. His body didn't agree with him, but he continued to do so. No one bothered him and he'd only look up when someone came near. Usually, Yoongi would be staring aimlessly into his glass. Around 2 AM, it was time for the bar to close. Yoongi hadn't even noticed how much time had passed, nor all the missed texts from Seokjin. Jimin came back as they were beginning to clean up. "Hyung, we're closing. Can I drive you home? Seokjin-hyung is probably worrying." Yoongi could barely register the words, not being able to focus on Jimin's face. "Come on, the employees can lock up." Yoongi was guided to Jimin's car in the back, stumbling as he walked. He was being held up easily by Jimin, being he was so light and honestly very frail. Jimin looked tired as well, obviously having been dealing with his own things. He helped Yoongi into the passenger seat, buckling him in before climbing into the driver's side. Yoongi could feel the fatigue tracing his entire body. He was so mentally exhausted and being wasted amplified it. Yoongi felt his eyes water, his emotional side taking over. The usually stoic hyung, shook slightly as small tears began to trail down his face. Jimin gave him a concerned glance as he began to drive, worrying about what had happened since he had last seen Yoongi. He had never seen his hyung cry. He chose not to ask, not wanting to upset Yoongi further. The two were greeted downstairs by a panicked Seokjin who looked like he was about to pull his hair out. A look of relief flooded his face when Jimin's car pulled up. "Jimin-ah! Thank goodness for you!" The older crushed Jimin in a tight hug as soon as he stepped out of the car, making his way to Yoongi's side as soon as he was finished. He opened the door and Yoongi looked up at him with a tear stained face. The older knew immediately just how drunk he was. A sigh escaped Seokjin's lips and he helped Yoongi out, walking him towards the apartment. "Come in with us, Jiminie?" The younger nodded and followed his hyungs, truly worried about Yoongi's mental, along with physical, heath. Seokjin quickly took Yoongi to the couch, sitting down with him. Jimin took his own spot in a recliner, not wanting to intrude. Yoongi had immediately clung to Seokjin, tears tumbling down his pale cheeks. The older rubbed his back softly and rocked him as if he was a child. Yoongi's body shook with the force of the tears, Seokjin's shirt slightly wet. When the crying ceased, Yoongi felt nauseous. The older automatically knew just by the look on the younger's face that he was about to throw up. "Jiminie, help me get him to the bathroom." Jimin jumped up quickly and grabbed Yoongi's other arm, helping Seokjin to walk him to where it would be safe to throw up. Yoongi ended up throwing up soon after they got him to the bathroom, his body not agreeing with the tsunami of alcohol he had taken in. He hadn't drank like this in years. Some of the intoxication had warn off, but he was still way past hazy. He sat back from the toilet and Jimin brought him some water to drink. He drank it quickly at first but ceased to do so when he gained a scolding from Seokjin. The two other males looked at him with a concerned expression, but Yoongi was to tired and drunk to register much anything. Seokjin soon had Jimin help him move Yoongi to the bedroom, laying him down in the bed and covering him up. The eldest closed the curtains in the room and when he turned back around, Yoongi was already out. The blonde's face was stained slightly with tears and his makeup was completely messed up now. Jimin followed his hyung out of the room, closing the door so Yoongi wouldn't be woken up by them. When they got back to the living room, Seokjin started to question Jimin. "How did you find him? He hasn't gone near a drink in years." Seokjin looked concerned and Jimin shrugged. "I just saw some guy trying to hook up with him and decided to tell him off. Yoongi-hyung looked miserable. What happened to make him like this?" The younger crossed his legs, leaning back into the chair he was sitting in. "He fell in love with a guy who turned out to be a really famous hitman. He feels lied to and I know he's scared. I've seen him go through a lot of relationships, but I've never seen him so beat up." Seokjin looked in the direction of Yoongi's room, concern lacing his features. "I'm scared for him."
Yoongi woke up with an extremely painful headache, feeling as if he had been ran over by a truck. He sighed softly and winced when he sat up, feeling slightly dizzy. His mouth had a vile taste within it and his body ached slightly. The short male managed to get up and make his way into the kitchen. He could smell Seokjin making breakfast, only now realizing how hungry he was. "Hyung, where's the painkillers?" Seokjin jumped slightly at Yoongi's voice. He then sighed and slid the bottle towards the younger. "I thought you said that you'd never touch a drink again, Yoongi-ah." The older frowned as he placed two pancakes on a plate. He also slid that towards Yoongi as he took two of the migraine strength painkillers. The younger frowned as well. "I'm sorry, hyung. I wasn't thinking. I just wanted to get away from all the pain, I was tired of feeling like an empty shell." The older huffed softly and rolled his eyes, grabbing his own plate of pancakes. "Yoongi, you need to face things. I know that you're hurt from what happened with Hoseok, but I saw the way he looked at you when you introduced us. That wasn't a fake love." Seokjin sat down at the table and he heard Yoongi admit a frustrated noise. "Wow that makes me feel so much better, hyung, thanks." Yoongi began to eat without budging from the kitchen. Seokjin sighed and shook his head. "Yoongi-ah, I didn't mean it like tha-" "Then what did you mean by it? You don't have to take pity on me just because I was too dumb to realize that the one person I saw a future with was a murderer!" The younger angrily spoke out, dropping his fork and storming back to his room. The outburst left Seokjin speechless. Yoongi was normally coolheaded and collected. The older sighed, knowing that he hadn't truly meant it and that he was in pain. By the time Yoongi reached his room, tears were slowly rolling down his face. He collapsed on the bed and curled into himself, wishing he could just disappear.__________ "Hell no. I'm not doing any more of your bidding." Hoseok angrily spoke into his phone, pacing his home. The voice rang out from the other end. "Are you seriously telling me no, Hope?" "Yes, I am telling you that. Never call me again, I'm done with this career. If you even try to contact me in any way, you'll be the next one with a bullet in your neck." The now brown haired male's eyes narrowed. He ran a hand through his hair, having recently dyed it. He wanted to start a new, never wanting anything to happen again like it had with Yoongi. "You know you'll never live a normal life, Hoseok. They just have to question that little discarded plaything of yours and you're done for." Hoseok's blood boiled at that nickname for Yoongi. "Don't ever call Yoongi that, ever. You just don't know how to feel anything but pride and you only think with your dick." The dark headed male growled into the phone. "And don't think I won't turn you in, either." With this, Hoseok hang up. He ran a hand through his hair and a sigh slipped past his lips. He missed Yoongi and his heart didn't feel functional at this point. He had caged away most emotions and vowed to never kill any innocent person ever again. Every time he had tried after what happened with Yoongi, he could only see the hurt, scared look on the older's face that had been burned into his memory. He regretted everything and couldn't help but to let himself hope, every so slightly, that Yoongi might forgive him one day.__________ Yoongi stirred slightly in his sleep, his eyes cracking open and scanning his darkened room. He sleepily rubbed at his eyes and let out a soft yawn. "Is someone there?" When there was no response, Yoongi slowly got up. He could feel an out of place breeze coming from the window. He made his way over and closed it. Had Seokjin opened it and forgotten to close it? Yoongi was about to turn around when a strong hand was placed over his mouth and nose, a cloth between the skin. His mind immediately became hazy and his muscles felt weak. His internal alarm went off a moment too late. 'Fuck...' He thought, 'Chloroform'. Yoongi collapsed and he only caught a brief glance at the assaulter before his vision went dark. "Sleep well, Detective."

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

"Okay, hyung, please breathe." Hoseok's voice rang out over the other end of the phone. Seokjin had went to check on Yoongi in the morning and found him gone with a note on the table. His phone had been left behind and, luckily, Hoseok's number was still stored inside of it. Seokjin knew what had happened, but he knew Hoseok was the only person who would have any idea what may had happened. He took a deep breath and slowed his words. "Yoongi was kidnapped. I don't know by who. They left a note saying they'd kill him if they didn't get what they wanted from him." The elder felt tears form within his eyes. "I'll help as much as I can, hyung... but... I can't make promises." Hoseok knew what they wanted, they wanted their old J-Hope back. The murderer. The one who didn't bat an eye at someone with a bullet buried within their bone. He hung up__________ Yoongi stirred slightly, his head pounding slightly. He found himself in a small, dimly lit room, attempting to move. His hands were tied behind his back with tape and it was reinforced with rope, which tied it to the chair he was currently seated in. He looked around quickly and jumped slightly when a voice rang out. "Nice to see you're awake, Detective. I'm surprised that your little boyfriend hasn't came to get you yet." The unknown voice had a smug tone to it and Yoongi tried to not let the hurt in his voice show at the mention of Hoseok. "He's not my boyfriend anymore..." The blonde looked down, not wanting to give away the emotions he was feeling. He felt weak and used, as if he was only an object that had been thrown away. "Poor thing." Yoongi hadn't even heard the footsteps towards him as a hooded figure came into view. The blonde looked up and noticed the figure was holding out a small pill. "I'd suggest you swallow this willingly, I really don't wish to have to force you to do so." "If you think I'm going to bend to yo-" The pill was pushed into his mouth with an iron grip before he could finish his sentence. He swallowed by reflex without being able to process what it was that had been placed on his tongue. As soon as his head began to feel hazy about 10 minutes later, he knew it had been a mistake. A voice rang out as his vision because to blur in and out of focus. "Have a fun trip." Yoongi felt as if he was drunk on something unknown, something foreign. He now knew that he had been drugged with a high dose of something. That pill had been pre-made. He could feel himself beginning to get chills and his arms shook slightly. He felt cold and he felt as if he could hear Hoseok's voice again, but this time it wasn't any loving words. In the back of his mind, he knew it was a hallucination, but he couldn't stop himself from believing what he was being told. Yoongi had been so hurt over what had happened, only making it easier for the drug to manipulate his thoughts. The most horrible thoughts threatened to spill forward, though all in Hoseok's voice. He opened his eyes, having not noticed that he had closed them what seemed like hours ago. He could've sworn that he caught a glimpse of Hoseok's light hair. His face felt damp and his eyes burned, though his drugged mind couldn't even realize he was crying. His body shook and he felt cold. His heart hurt, it hurt like hell and more than it ever had before. He pulled against his restraints and let out a cry of defeat, hanging his head. Yoongi's vision was failing, unfocusing and going into a type of double vision. His ears rang with the thoughts that he had locked away since that night he lost himself to alcohol. The demons within his mind screamed that Hoseok had used him, only wanting someone to play with, not truly loving him. Yoongi was too weak to fight back, only letting the thoughts ravage his mind. Yoongi sat in the cage of his own mind for what seemed like weeks in his own time, when it had only been a couple hours. He ended up passing out, his body not being able to handle the intensity of the drug. The power of the hallucinations had only grown as time went on and his body was not responding well. When he stirred once again, he felt as if he had been hit by a train. An odd sensation flowed through his body, making his head feel cloudy and, for a moment, he could barely remember who he was. He lifted his head with much difficulty, his body fatigued. His chest seemed to heave, as if he couldn't take enough air into his lungs. "Looks like that trip of yours wasn't very fun, was it Detective?" A iron grip enveloped his chin, making his head lift upwards. His eyes were partly open, his vision blurred. The figure before him wore a mask and he surely couldn't be recognized. "Poor thing, you got used, didn't you?" The male let out a maniac laugh, "Just warns you not to trust criminals, but, who knows, maybe little J-Hope will come save you." Yoongi truly doubted it. Even if Hoseok hadn't used him, the elder had been confused and hurt. He had told him to never speak to him again. He could recall the hurt look upon Hoseok's face as his unfiltered thoughts had turned into hurtful words. He wanted to cry at the thought of hurting the other, never having meant to. Had Hoseok really loved him? He couldn't tell exactly what it was, but a sudden wave of the same thoughts unlocked by the drugs washed over him. He felt worthless, as if he was an object once again. His newly formed tears stained his cheeks slowly, his eyes glassy and red. "Oh, is our little tough Detective crying?" The snicker that followed threatened to make Yoongi's blood boil. "Don't worry, your boyfriend should be here soon." Over the next few hours, Yoongi continued to have flashbacks of his previous experience. The drug had obviously faded from his system slightly, but it still remained and it was causing these episodes of recalling the images and words from before. He had no idea how much time had passed and he, for the first time in forever, prayed to see Hoseok's face. He wanted to go back to being a student, to seeing his friends. Seokjin, Namjoon, even Hoseok. Images of all of them flashed within his mind and he realized how wrong he had been about this whole situation. He pushed back against the advances of the drug and felt tears envelop his eyes once again. Hoseok hadn't used him, no where close to that. The younger had kept his identity a secret as a way to not scare Yoongi away, a way to make him love him for his true personality without viewing him with a label. Yoongi felt as if the air had been knocked from his lungs and his heart heart as well. Yoongi had passed out once again from exhaustion, his sleep filled with flashbacks in the form of dreams. Though, he stirred when he heard some commotion from outside of the room. He looked around hazily and became alert when he heard a scream of pain. He knew he needed to get out of here and, if he dared, he could believe that, possibly, Hoseok had come for him.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Hoseok swore that he was insane, which, in all honesty, he probably was. He was strapped up with all of his weapons. Knives and guns rested on his person as he approached the door of the warehouse. The police backing him up was something he thought that he'd never see in his life time, but he had volunteered to save the detective. He could only hope they'd trust him and see reason to save him from the penalty his crime called for.
Hoseok knew for a fact that there would be guards before he could get to Yoongi, but he'd go through anything for the elder. As he approached the side door, his hands slid to grip his gun. It didn't take more than one powerful kick before the door before him collapsed inward with a loud crash. He ran in quickly, his eyes seemingly adjusting to the darkness quickly. He knew he was risking his life by doing this, but it was worth it. For Yoongi.__________ As soon as he heard the commotion that had began, Yoongi knew he needed to help. He scanned the room frantically, searching for something, anything, that might help him to escape his bindings. Among the papers that had been unceremoniously thrown to the floor, a small silver dagger laid. Yoongi swallowed deeply and began to rock his chair, attempting to turn it over. His leg constraints were loose, but not to where he could use the floor as leverage.
Yoongi eventually opted to throwing all of his weight to the right, the chair creaking as his rocked onto its side. After one more attempt the chair crashed to the floor and Yoongi bit his lip in pain as his shoulder collided with the hard surface below him. He noticed the knife right before his eyes. The blonde quickly used the now discarded chair as leverage to untie his legs. The tape ripped after about five minutes of struggling against it, the noise almost deafening to Yoongi.
The blonde quickly forced himself to a seating position and then moved to where he could reach the knife with his bonded hands. He grasped it and began to attempt to free himself of the bonds that held him.
Yoongi somehow managed to stand up, his legs weak from sitting down for so long. He could still feel the small amount of the drugs that was left in his system. He leaned forward, pressing the knife against the tape and thin ropes binding his wrists. He continued to do this until he felt as if his shoulder might dislocate itself. Soon after, he felt the bonds tear and his arms were free. He immediately pulled the remaining tape off, throwing it to the side. He stretched out his arms, wincing at the pain in his shoulder blades. Yoongi grabbed the knife he had used to free himself, figuring it might come in handy later. He glanced around the room and decided to make his escape through the back exit. Now, he had to find where all this commotion was coming from.__________ Hoseok didn't know he hadn't ran out of rounds yet, being how many shots he had fired. A few bodies laid on the floor, blood oozing from various stab wounds and the clear paths that a bullet had torn through the victim’s flesh. The brunette could hear footsteps running up the hallway to his side, causing him to press himself against the nearest wall. He needed to get to Yoongi. He raised his gun and fired a round, not even bothering to watch as the bullet was buried between the newcomer’s eyes. He stepped over the body and began to run. He didn’t care if he wasn’t being stealthy, worry and impatience was beginning to control him. Hoseok could only use what he had stolen from so many, hope, to convince himself that everything would go his way.__________Yoongi could hear gunshots going off near him, the noise often so sudden that it caused him to be startled. He ran as quickly as he could, but halted when a cry of surprise and outrage flowed throughout the building. He could hear the apparent struggle and his heart dropped as he recognized the voice. His legs moved towards the commotion by instinct.
“Hoseok!”__________Hoseok had entered a side room, something drawing him to it. He could see the dim lights and the overturned chair which sat in the middle. He looked around nervously, not seeing anything of a threat. Being mistaken in his previous assumption, he found himself slammed into a wall. The air was sucked from his lungs as his body slammed into the hard concrete surface and he let out a cry of agony. The hand around his neck was tight and didn’t seem to be loosening its grip. Hoseok gasped for air, kicking his legs as his eyes met his assaulter’s. Just who he had expected.
“Ch...Chinhae…” The name came out as a type of wheeze, causing Hoseok to grapple at the hands surrounding his neck as an attempt to fill his lungs with oxygen. He could not breathe and his mind was already becoming hazy from the lack of oxygen, though he managed to catch a glimpse of the silver blade in the other’s hand.
Footsteps echoed in the hall right after a far away call of his name. Hoseok smiled inwardly, now knowing that Yoongi was alive, even if at the cost of his own life. He could hear Chinhae chuckle darkly, his grip not loosening one bit. Hoseok was now breathing shallowly. His vision close to tunneling.
“Get your hands off of him!” Yoongi’s voice almost sounded like an angel to Hoseok, his now blonde hair seemingly shining in the dim lighting. The younger attempted to choke out a warning but was too late, two other males approaching the blonde and holding him by his arms. Yoongi struggled against them, though to no avail. He couldn’t match their strength. He watched helplessly as he choked out a sob, apologies towards Hoseok falling from his lips. The younger made eye contact with Yoongi and smiled sadly, not noticing the tear that had escaped to tumble down his cheek.
“You may not be able to save him, detective, but at least you can watch him die.” Yoongi barely allowed a scream of Hoseok’s name to pass his lips before the younger felt an excruciating pain in his abdomen. The knife. He heard a sob escape Yoongi’s lips, his vision tunneling. His skin was tearing to shreds as the knife rotated, the sound of his muscles and nerves being gouged growing louder. Hoseok could feel the salty tears burning as they fell from his eyes.
“Hoseok!!” Yoongi tore free from his bonds as the knife was torn from the younger male’s body and he was left to sink to the floor, the wound in his abdomen bleeding profusely. Hoseok coughed and curled in on himself, his vision blurry and his ears ringing. He could hear footsteps and voices, though only seeing Yoongi before him. There were tears streaming down the blonde’s pale skin as he quickly applied pressure to the stab wound.
“H-hoseok… please.. Stay with me…” Hoseok’s breathing came in slow, shallow puffs of air. He weakly raised a hand to Yoongi’s cheek, brushing away a tear as best he could.
“I’m sorry…” A cough escaped his lips and some blood pooled into his mouth,”Yoongi…”
“Hoseok! Stay with me! You’re going to be okay… please…” Yoongi was full-on sobbing, salty tears staining his porcelain skin. Hoseok could hear other voices and soon felt a soft reassuring squeeze given to his hand. “Please… I love you…”
Everything went black.__________Yoongi watched as the ambulance peeled out of the parking lot, not having been allowed to go with Hoseok. His body racked with tears as he stood there, his eyes red and puffy. He felt an arm wrap around him and turned to see Seokjin. The younger let out a shaky breath and turned to stare at the empty sky, his heart heavy.
“He can’t die, hyung… not like this.”

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Yoongi didn't want to visit the hospital, not wanting to see Hoseok in the state he was in just because he had almost lost his life for someone who had pushed him away. Seokjin insisted, telling the younger repeatedly that Hoseok would want him there. All Yoongi would say is to stop talking about him as if he was dead, that he was only in a coma and that he'd wake up. The elder would just offer a defeated, pitying look and exit the room, knowing Yoongi really just needed to come to terms with his feelings on his own. The blonde had refused to eat for days, simply sitting in his room and staring at the ceiling. The police department had insisted that he'd be examined by the medics, yet he had waved it off. Nothing physical was wrong with him, only a couple bruises that had now faded. The nightmares that haunted him were a different story, the amount of trauma from the drug induced hallucinations and seeing Hoseok almost die before him caused his thoughts to swim with fear and uncertainty. Nightmares stirred him from his sleep almost every night, his cheeks sometimes wet with tears that he had shed unknowingly and his blood rushing in his ears. These ruthless attacks made by his unconscious thoughts caused him to become exhausted and unmotivated to do much anything. Finally, about a week later, Seokjin had convinced Yoongi to visit the hospital. Hoseok still hadn't woken up and his heart ached with uncertainty. He sat in the car quietly, Seokjin sitting in the drivers seat with his eyes trained on the road. Yoongi didn't know what to feel at this point, having been numb up until now. He knew that when he saw Hoseok, the dam would most likely over flow. He was one hundred percent correct. As soon as Yoongi walked into the room, it felt as if he couldn't breathe and tears welled into his eyes. Hoseok laid on the pristine white bed, his skin pale and eyes closed. The oxygen mask concealed his features partially and Yoongi just wished he could see that smile that he had longed for. The elder slowly took a seat beside Hoseok's bed and managed a sad smile as a salty tear traced its way down his cheek. His heart jumped to his throat when he noticed the stained red cloth that was placed over the wound that had, truthfully, been caused by he himself. He could feel the tears slowly beginning to fall from his dark eyes, his trembling hand carefully reaching out to grasp the one of the younger. His hand was no longer that warm, large hand that Yoongi had grown familiar with. Instead, it was cold and the elder couldn't even keep himself from thinking of how he could've prevented this. He never had truly realized just how much he missed Hoseok. He missed the moment that they had spent together, the smile that had always been displayed on the younger' face. He missed Jung Hoseok and Yoongi wanted him back. Yoongi began to visit the hospital every single day, his hope dimming each day that Hoseok wasn't awake. He couldn't help it and seeing the younger's face relaxed as if he was in a deep sleep would've been peaceful had it not been like that for weeks. Seokjin grew worried about him, seeing him even pass out at Hoseok's bed side. The dark circles lined Yoongi's eyes even more than before, his eyes tired and hopeless. The elder had attempted to convince the blonde to come home, to sleep and eat something. Though, Yoongi always refused and used the excuse that he wanted to be there when Hoseok woke up. Seokjin would simply sigh and leave, coming back to check up on Yoongi if he didn't come home. It had been about three weeks since Hoseok had been placed into a coma and Yoongi was beginning to think he'd never wake up. That is, until he woke up one morning to a slightly warm hand grasping onto his with little strength. His eyes widened more and more as he slowly lifted his head. He could only stare as his throat became dry and his heart leaped to his throat. Hoseok was sitting upright in bed, a small smile gracing his lips as he stared at Yoongi. Some color seemed to have returned to his skin and the oxygen mask had been removed. "H.... Hoseok?" Yoongi could barely find his voice, his eyes wide and his hand grasping onto Hoseok's like it was his life force. The younger slowly nodded, his breathing shallow and short, though enough to sustain him without a machine. Yoongi's eyes suddenly began to burn, a couple tears escaping to trace messily down his pale cheeks. He hiccuped slightly and stood up, carefully leaning over and enveloping the younger into a hug. He was scared to even touch the other just from how fragile he looked in his current state, but Hoseok welcomed him with as much strength as he could gather. He could see the unshed tears glistening in the now brunette's eyes. Yoongi couldn't help but to smile sadly, but it was also filled with joy if even possible. So many emotions flooded through him. Relief, surprise, grief, but most of all, love. The time he had spent alone and by Hoseok's bed side, had made him realize just how much he had missed the younger. How, no matter who he truly was or what background he had, he loved Jung Hoseok. "I'm sorry..." Yoongi's voice seemed to startle the younger slightly. "I didn't want this to happen to you." "Hyung, it isn't your fault." The elder grew concerned at how raspy Hoseok's voice sounded, the normal velvet tone now replaced with what was equivalent to gravel. "They wanted me to go back to my old ways... after what happened... with us..." Hoseok drew in a few breaths, "I quit working for my employers and ceased all activity in that field. I went to the police with Seokjin-hyung and asked them to back me up." Yoongi felt as if he couldn't breathe, he felt horrible. If only he had listened, Hoseok wouldn't be here now. He should've at least tried to understand. It seemed that the younger could detect the guilty rising into his eyes. "Hyung. Seriously. I understand why you reacted the way you did. I shouldn't have hidden it from you." Yoongi shook his head violently, his hands coming to rest lightly as they cupped Hoseok's face. "I should've listened to you when you tried to explain. I over-reacted. I'm so sorry, Hoseok. I regret it so much and..." "He lost about fifteen pounds and didn't sleep for at least a week." Both of the males jumped at Seokjin's voice, who was now entering the room with two coffees and a water. He made his way over and pulled a chair up next to Yoongi's as the blonde sat down. Hoseok's lips displayed a concerned frown, his eyes wavering as they trained themselves on Yoongi. "You two seriously need to make up already and stop sulking."__________ "Thank you!" Seokjin quickly thanked the receptionist, proceeding to guide Yoongi and Hoseok from the hospital quickly. It had been about a week since the youngest had regained consciousness and most of his motor skills had returned. Therapy sessions were on the way along with trails and sentences. They were all afraid for the outcome, but Yoongi knew who Hoseok truly was. He wasn't a murderer or the infamous J-Hope, he was Jung Hoseok, an amazing human being who was extremely kind and selfless. A man who had made him happy and rescued him by risking his own life, if only to save Yoongi's. As they exited the hospital doors, Yoongi felt a familiar warm hand grasp his own and he let himself fall onto Hoseok's lips with his own as a small smile threatened to slip across his lips. "I love you, Yoongi." "I love you, too, Hoseok."

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Four years later
Hoseok laid in the bed, his eyes staring at the ceiling. The room was illuminated by the moonlight streaming in from the large window of the room. His phone went off on the bedside table and he reached to grab it. It was Seokjin, responding to his message from an hour before.SEOKJIN-형: You're proposing?! Since when?! Took you long enough... He chuckled softly to himself, running a hand through his freshly dyed red hair and responded.HOSEOK: Wow, thanks for the encouragement hyung, but yes I'm going to propose to him finally. I don't know the best time, though. The phone went off a moment later.SEOKJIN-형: Just do it when he doesn't suspect it, that's what Namjoonie did with me. Hoseok sighed and rolled his eyes, simply laying his phone down rather than responding. He had been planning to propose to Yoongi for a couple months now, the ring feeling heavy each time he carried it. He was afraid for no true reason. The elder had stuck with him through his court case in the previous year, took him in while he was under a house arrest, and treated him as a partner in a career and life aspect. After Namjoon and Seokjin had gotten engaged, he had realized he needed to make a move. He and Yoongi had been together for about five years now and Seokjin had subtly made a comment about Yoongi having said that he was simply waiting for the younger to propose.Hoseok was pulled from his wandering thoughts as the door downstairs opened and closed. He shot up from his laying position like a catapult. He slid from his side of the otherwise empty bed, pretty much sprinting downstairs. As soon as he heard Holly's bark and spotted the familiar light blue hair, his heart threatened to spring from his chest. Yoongi had been gone on an investigation for a couple days and sleepless nights had haunted the younger. He nearly crashed into the elder, pretty much flying down the stairs.Yoongi's laugh filled his ears and his heart swelled with joy. His boyfriend returned the embrace, a closed-lip smile stretched across his face. Hoseok pecked his lips and chuckled softly. "Well it's nice to know you two missed me." He stated, making it a point to return the small peck and turn to pet Holly. "But, Hoseok, why are you awake? It's almost midnight and you have work tomorrow." The younger smiled sheepishly before responding in full honesty. "You know I can't sleep when you're away, Yoongi. I'm a worry wart." He pouted playfully, the elder chuckling and shaking his head in fake disbelief. "Well, I'm exhausted and I'm probably going to sleep for a week so you don't have to worry about that anymore." He replied, picking up the small dog that had been jumping up on his leg since he had stepped inside. They had adopted Holly a few years ago, right after all the court cases had ended. Hoseok had acted like a stay at home parent for her while on house arrest, and now he came home on his lunch break to check on her. Once Yoongi had finished his hello to Holly, he placed her down and took the younger's hand. "I'm exhausted, I'll kiss you more tomorrow." He stated, pecking Hoseok's lips softly. The red head chuckled and nodded, slowly pulling the elder towards their room as a yawn escaped his own lips.
Hoseok ran a hand through his fluffy hair as his reflection stared back at him in the mirror. He was wearing a nice t-shirt and jacket, which was paired with black jeans. The small chain necklace that Yoongi had gotten him as a birthday present about a year ago hung around his neck, a small ring resting on it with an inscription. He had asked Yoongi out on a date today, though it was so much more than that to him. The ring felt heavy in his jacket pocket, the velvet case longing to be opened to allow the beautiful band to be displayed to the bluenette. He smoothed out the dark jacket, running a hand through his red hair afterwards. "Come on, Hoseok... you can do this..." He muttered to himself as his reflection's own eyes bored holes into his chest. The younger of the couple was nervous, not wanting to screw up. However, with Seokjin's encouragement, he kept his head up and refused to delay the occasion any longer. He shook his head and turned from his judging reflection, grabbing his wallet and exiting their room. He quickly climbed down the stairs, knowing he needed to leave soon. The red head had arranged to pick Yoongi up from the police station, being he had gone to report to Namjoon about his previous trip. He hoped the clumsy younger male wouldn't forget that Yoongi didn't know Hoseok was going to propose so that he didn't spill to the elder. Hoseok walked through the house, turning off the lights and making sure everything was in order before he left. He slipped on some nicer dress shoes and swiped his keys from their normal spot near the door. As he exited the warmth of their home, he took another deep breath. His nerves coming alive so quickly it was if they were on fire. Hoseok climbed into the car, making sure the ring and its box were secure in their designated pocket. He pulled from the driveway, doing his best to calm his overly active nerves. He turned up the stereo of the car, letting himself melt into the lyrics of the songs that came across as he drove. He could see the police station in the distance, noticing the mop of blue hair standing in front of it with another who had a caramel blonde color. He figured it was Namjoon, Seokjin having said the younger had dyed his hair once again. Hoseok pulled the car up to the curb and Yoongi quickly said goodbye to Namjoon, throwing his work bag into the back seat and climbing in next to Hoseok. "Right on time, Hoseok." The elder stated, leaning over to place a small peck to his boyfriend's cheek. He settled into his seat, strapping the seatbelt across himself as Hoseok pulled away from the station. "How was your meeting with Namjoon?" The red head questioned, sneaking a glance at the bluenette sitting beside him. He heard a sigh escape the elder's lips at his question. "It went well... they at least have some leads for the case." Hoseok could tell Yoongi was lying from simply the tone of his voice, though he decided not to ask for the time being. Today was supposed to be a wonderful day for the both of them. Hoseok wouldn't let one bad day at work ruin it for Yoongi. As they reached their destination, the red head could hear Yoongi gasp beside him. The day had turned out beautifully and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The younger had led the other from the car onto a path that led to small cove of trees overlooking the bustling city. Hoseok hadn't wanted to take Yoongi somewhere within their usual, like a restaurant within Seoul, so he decided to plan something in which he could have proper time with the elder. Seokjin, Namjoon and Jimin had helped, the eldest making the food and keeping the other two away from the kitchen. The youngest of the three had ran errands and gotten anything they needed. Jimin had somehow roped Taehyung and Jeongguk into helping him set up the display of all their hard work as well. There was no way Hoseok could be any more thankful for them than he was when he saw what had been created by them. There was a large blanket laid on the ground, cases filled with the food and drinks sitting beside it. Though, what really caught Hoseok's eye was the large trunked tree that towered over the site. It was beautiful with bright leaves. The breeze blew softly, stirring the grass quietly. Both of the males were struck speechless, only having enough mental capacity to be able to process that it would be best to sit. The younger pulled Yoongi to the blanket and offered a bright smile, causing a close lipped smile to overtake his boyfriend's shocked expression. As they sat and began to pull out all the food their friends had helped Hoseok prepared, Yoongi continued to marvel at their surroundings. "Hoseok... this is amazing... how did you ever find this place..." Yoongi's words were hushed, as if he believed he'd disrupt the serene scene surrounding him. "I found it when I first moved here... and I usually used it has a place to regain my sanity if I felt as if I had lost it." He began. "There's just something about it that feels like it creates a new beginning." Yoongi simply nodded in understanding as his dark cat-like eyes continued to marvel at the new surroundings. As the date progressed, they began to enjoy the food they had been presented with as they leaned against the trunk of the large tree. The ring rested in Hoseok's pocket and he became restless, not sure how exactly to follow through with his plan. He figured that he'd wait until they were close to leaving, but as a plan came to his mind, a smile overtook his lips. "Yoongi... I want to show you something." He stated, pushing himself up from the ground before offering the elder some help. The bluenette raised an eyebrow but accepted the hand, raising to his feet. The younger pulled his boyfriend to the small ledge that truly revealed the city's full beauty. Cars and people bustled about in a way which was not visible from their previous position. He took in a deep breath of air and turned to the elder. He had to do it now. "Yoongi..." Hoseok couldn't help but to smile, his heart pounding. "I know I've taken forever, and I'm sorry. But thank you for loving me no matter my past or what happened during that time." Yoongi stared with a questioning look and realization slowly overtook his features as the younger lowered to one knee, reaching into his pocket. "I love you so much, Yoongi, and I'd love it if you'd marry me." Hoseok announced, the small box coming into view as he opened it to allow the other to view the shining silver band. He could see the small glistening tear slide down Yoongi's pale cheek before he was suddenly embraced. The elder was almost full on crying, though it was obvious it wasn't of sadness as it accompanied the toothy grin that rarely showed on Yoongi's features. "Of course, Hoseok... yes..." The elder murmured, his voice muffled in the younger's shoulder. Hoseok held him close, his heart continuing to pound as if it would break from its holding cell within his rib cage. As they pulled from the hug, Hoseok took Yoongi's hand to carefully slide the ring onto his finger. He then slowly pulled the elder into a light kiss, chuckling softly to himself as he pulled away and wiped a tear from the elder's cheek. Yoongi finally truly understood why Hoseok viewed this place as a new beginning. It wasn't just for himself, but a new beginning for them as one.
