It’s hard to keep track of things on stage: the lights are too bright, the screams too loud and the dance moves just a bit too complicated. Jimin thinks he’s gotten used to it over the years, and his mind is now accustomed to focusing so hard he forgets everything else.Still, there is always space to worry. They keep an eye on each other, the seven of them, just in case there is an emergency. Jimin tends to count them on stage, especially during the songs where they go out to interact with the fans and walk around, just so he knows everyone is alright. But he can’t make it his main focus when he has thousands of people to entertain, so he lets it sit for a while in the back of his mind. They’re halfway through Fun Boys when he hears what sounds like a collective gasp of surprise mixed with the screams they’re used to – aware that it’s not unusual, Jimin merely turns around to find what caused it.He scans his eyes through the stage, spotting Yoongi and Hoseok dancing together, Taehyung running around and Seokjin sending his flying kisses while Namjoon raps his part. His heart skips a beat when he finds Jungkook lying down but tries not to read too much into it; Jimin himself does a lot of that during concerts so it isn’t something to worry about. Still, he makes his way over to where the maknae is while singing his part and watches, relieved, as Jungkook sits up to sing the chorus. They exchange a glance when Jimin reaches him and the older notices the slightly pained expression on the younger’s face. He offers Jungkook a hand and he accepts it, dropping it soon after so they can take their position at the center of the stage for the last part of the song.Jimin finds himself watching Jungkook whenever he can for the rest of the concert. He knows they have a stubborn maknae, so it doesn’t surprise him at all that Jungkook seems to be focusing even harder than he usually does. Jimin can see him limping when he accidentally lets his guard down and catches a glimpse of pain on his face whenever he has to land on his right foot but there isn’t anything he can do, really, so he just goes on with playing his role.Jungkook sits down the moment they get backstage after the concert but, then again, so does everyone else. He closes his eyes, lets his head fall back to rest against the backrest of the couch, and stays there until he feels someone sit next to him.“You should go shower.” Jimin says softly and Jungkook notices the sweet scent of his strawberry shampoo coming from him. He likes this one more than the vanilla one and it brings him an odd sense of comfort.“Have all the hyungs gone already?” He asks, realizing that he probably dozed off, and tries not to wince when he moves his legs; his foot is throbbing, pain increasing now that his blood isn’t filled with the adrenaline from the concert anymore.“Yeah, and we were all surprised you didn’t fight for the shower this time.” Jimin answers. Jungkook can hear the smile on his voice but he also catches the worrying and questioning tone.“Tired.” He mumbles but gets up anyway, forcing himself to walk normally to the bathroom.“He hurt his foot, didn’t he?” Yoongi asks when Jungkook is out of earshot and Jimin nods with a sigh. “See if you can at least get him to put some ice on it.”Jimin doesn’t get a chance to talk to Jungkook until they get back to the dorm. Jungkook is avoiding him, he can tell, probably to stop the attention an injury would give him and not wanting to worry anyone.Jungkook goes straight to his room as soon as they pass through the door, throwing a quick good night their way and nothing else. Jimin follows him, leaves his bag somewhere to pick up later and sits next to him on the bed. He pulls the covers away from Jungkook’s face and rolls his eyes when the younger doesn’t move.“I know you’re awake.” Jimin keeps his voice low. Jungkook sighs and opens his eyes to face him. “How’s your foot?” He asks in a tone that gives the younger no room to lie.“Hurts.” Jungkook limits himself to say. He sits up so that they are at eye level and tries to swallow around the lump in his throat, both at the worried expression on Jimin’s face and at the pain that’s now radiating up his leg.“Let me see.” Jimin gets up to turn the lights back on while Jungkook brings his swollen foot into view. “We need to go to the doctor, you know that, right?” He says as he examines the injury.Jungkook stiffens. “No, hyung, please.” He panics. “Everyone is so tired, let them rest.”Jimin smiles fondly and brushes hair away from Jungkook’s forehead. Even in pain, he’s still thinking about his hyungs. “Let me put some ice on it tonight, then, and tomorrow we’ll go.”Jungkook visibly relaxes but he’s still frowning. “Give me the ice and I’ll do it so you can go to sleep.” Jimin shakes his head and gets up from the bed, placing a light kiss on the younger’s forehead as he whispers for him not to worry before leaving the room.He finds Namjoon and Yoongi in the kitchen talking about a new song they had been working on and nods at them as he makes his way to the fridge for some ice.“How is he?” Namjoon asks and Jimin half turns to him to answer.“In pain. Probably twisted his ankle from what I can tell.” He busies himself with preparing the bag of ice.“We should take him to the doctor.” Yoongi says and Namjoon agrees.“He doesn’t want to go.” Jimin refills the ice tray and puts it back in its place. “He wants everyone to rest after today’s concert.” He smiles as his heart swells with affection.Understanding crosses Namjoon’s face and he nods. “You deal with him the best so I’ll let you handle this for now. But if it gets worse, we’re taking him to the hospital.”“He already agreed on going tomorrow.” Jimin clarifies and then leaves them again.Jungkook is still in the same position Jimin had left him in when he walks back in his room, except now he’s scrolling through his phone with a bored expression on his face. Jimin closes the door behind him and Jungkook looks up at the sound, a flash of something in his eyes, and puts the phone aside.“I told you I can do it.” He says when Jimin settles with his legs on his lap and lightly presses the ice to his ankle.“And I told you not to worry.” Jimin answers with an unquestionable finality, even if the smile on his face is sweet.“Aren’t you tired?” Jungkook asks and almost pulls his foot away at the unwelcome coldness.“Yeah, but I wouldn’t be able to sleep with you hurt like this anyway.” Jimin shrugs as if it’s nothing but the words mean a lot more to Jungkook than he lets out. They’re quiet for a moment, with Jimin focused on applying the ice the right way to tone down the swelling. Jungkook keeps watching him, chest tight with emotions he was never good at voicing; he wonders when he got so lucky. His six hyungs have raised and taken care of him since ever, and Jungkook knows he has more than he would ever ask for. Jimin is different, though; the younger found his touch to be the most calming out of all of them, and his attention to be the one he craves the most.“You’re staring.” Jimin mutters, eyes not leaving the ice pack.“You’re beautiful.” Jungkook blurts out and almost regrets it but he sees a light blush spread across his hyung’s cheeks and a soft smile appear on his lips.“You’re too much.” Jimin whispers and a shy giggle escapes him before he can stop it. Jungkook pulls his legs from his lap and Jimin lets him, most of the ice already melted anyway.“I’m better; can we go to sleep now?” He asks quietly. Jimin nods and gets up, ready to leave, but Jungkook holds his wrist. “Stay here tonight, hyung.”Jimin pauses. He considers his options and thinks about all the ambiguous situations the two of them had been through lately, wonders what exactly this all means; he’s tempted to say no and go back to his own room, but he was never an example of rational thinking.“Let me turn off the lights.” He says and Jungkook lets him go.When Jimin lies back down, ice pack forgotten somewhere he will have to look for the next morning, he immediately wraps himself around Jungkook. He makes sure his ankle is comfortable and that he has enough space to move around but he doesn’t hesitate on cuddling up to him.“Thank you, Jiminie-hyung.” That’s the last thing he hears before falling asleep.
