I woke up in a metal cage scared out of my mind, my heart beating loudly. So loudly, I felt the consistent thumping in my ears. A drop of sweat slid down my forehead and down the bridge of my nose.'Where am I?' I thought as I looked around, trying to get a grasp of my surroundings. There were flashing red lights all around me. I saw a number of boxes, each with letters on them. It was too dark for me to make out what was written on each one. There was a crate that had a number of noises coming from it. I slowly walked up to one of the wooden boxes, not knowing what was inside. then I heard a blood curdling squeal come from the metal crate which scared me half to death 'I think I scared the poor thing' I thought to myself. Then the metal cage started moving, snapping me out of my pity for the poor caged creature. I began screaming "Wait! I'm still in here!" I felt like I was too late and braced for impact, but the cage stopped at the top 'Well that's odd.' then I heard people ‘What? People? Actual people?’ Then I listened closer to the voices they sounded like...boys? And a number of them too. 'Oh dear lord.' The top opened up and for a split second I was blinded by a bright light. There were quiet murmurs all around me."Whoa!" they all say in unison."It's another girl!?" I heard one of the boys say."Great they're sending girls now?" "Hey Teresa you're not the only other girl now." Then I heard a feminine voice say "It's about shucking time." "Whoa! Look at the size of her chest?" Then I heard a one of the boys whistle at me. I took a glimpse of my chest, then looked back at the crowd of boys. "Freaking pervs." I mumbled under my breath. "She must have been one of their experiments or something, because I'm pretty sure that those are not supposed to be so...big, not to be rude but Teresa's chest isn't even that big."And after that comment I started to get frustrated. “Look at her hair though.” One boy said kind of disappointed.“She looks like Rence”“Yeah, but with red hair.”"Well is she a cutie." I heard one say. "But she's short.""I call dibs." 'Oh my god are these guys serious?' I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. "But look at the size of her chest, now those are what I call sweater puppies." Then I just snapped at the group "If someone doesn't get me out of this box right now I swear I'm going to throw one of the stupid boxes at the closest person or thing around this metal contraption!" I yelled, taking the boys and Teresa out of their conversations mostly about my height and chest. " Geez , she sounds like Gally, with that attitude." "Get me out of this thing NOW!" My temper scared most of the boys except for one and I assumed that this broadly built boy was Gally. Before he jumped in the cage he said “ I swear if they bring up another girl, I'm voluntarily walking into that maze my shucking self.”“Well don't I feel special.” I say sarcastically with an eyebrow raised. The boy glared at me, and lifted, more like tossed, me out of the metal box. The boys then started to surround me, my confidence dropped drastically, and I started to get terrified. I then stumbled to my feet, and ran, to Teresa for protection.Teresa then put an arm around my shoulder, and was trying to get me to calm me down. My heart was starting to pound against my ribcage, my head was beginning to spin, and my legs gave out on me. The last thing I heard before I passed out was a dark skinned boy looking at me then told one of the other boys to help him get me to the med-jacks hut.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

I woke up, and I found myself in a building that was dimly lit. I was still a bit confused about where I am. I was lying on a makeshift cot, or bed. Whatever it was, it wasn’t too comfortable, I tried get up to examine the area until I heard some of the boys talking about something. I wasn’t too sure what they were talking about, until I listened closer to what they were saying, “Alby, I swear she’s going to give us problems.” ‘That sounded like the boy who tossed me out of that metal box?’“Gally, I don’t think that the greenie will do anything to anyone here.” a boy spoke up trying to defend whoever they were talking about.‘Are they talking about me right now?’ I thought to myself.“Gally, Alby’s right, she seems harmless.” a British boy spoke up.‘ The only “ she ” in the area is me, so they’re talking about me….great.’ I think to myself as I mentally, and physically, facepalm.I felt the need to march in the other room and put in my opinion, but I decided not to. I went to get up and sneak out, until I heard one of the boys speak up, “Well, Gally, since you are against there being another girl here, then what exactly do you have in mind?”I begin to get terrified about what Gally has in mind. “Well, I say we put her in the maze, but only for the night. If the greenie survives then she stays.” Gally said nonchalantly.“Gally, you do realize that the only ones who survived a night in the maze was Thomas, Alby, and Minho right.” My heart just about stopped, they're putting me in the maze, where nobody survives. ‘They're just joking right?’ I thought to myself, as I just slowly pace in a single area in front of the makeshift cot/bed. “Ok, Gally, tomorrow at noon, before the walls close, is when the greenie goes in.” Alby said . “Alby you're really supporting this, at least give the girl a chance?!” Newt said with anger and concern lacing his voice. “The decision is final, tonight we celebrate the arrival of the greenie then tomorrow at noon before the walls close she goes in.” The moment he said that the decision was final I felt a stray tear slip down my cheek. I was sad, and also scared, because they never gave me a chance and overhearing them say nobody survives a night in the maze makes me terrified. “Speaking of the greenie we should go check on her.” Alby said trying to change the subject. I quickly, and quietly, rushed to get on the makeshift cot. I lay my head down on the cot I hear footsteps getting close. I then realize that I am wearing on a jacket and I tightened my hood over my head to keep my scarlet hair from showing. When the boys got in the room it looked as though I was still sleeping. “Seems like there won't be any celebrating tonight.” Alby reassured Gally and Newt that I was still fast asleep. That was my sign to “wake up". I grunted while I got up then I stretched my arms, legs, and back, I kept my hood up just for safety reasons. “That was a fairly uncomfortable nap. Where the hell am I?” I say before turning around making eye contact with a new face. I recognized Alby and Gally from earlier today, but I never met with this boy, or any of the other boys to be exact, but this guy seemed like a complete sweetheart. I smiled at the new boy, he smiled back, and I felt like he was a brother to me. Then Alby says, “Well are you going to introduce yourself to the new greenie?” “Oh! Sorry my name is Newt,” he said in an adorable British accent, “Alby you never told me that the new greenie was a small child.” My eyes widened at the comment, more like an insult, about my appearance. Gally caught wind of what Newt said, he then busted into laughter, holding his sides, almost falling on the floor. Alby just looked plain shocked at what Newt just said. “Newt,” Alby began, “she's not a small child, she's just short. I never knew that you could be a bit rude to the girl.” Then I heard Gally pipe in “Now THAT was shucking funny.” Then I glared at Gally, crossed my arms, and snapped at him, “I don't know what is so funny about calling me a small child, Captain Eyebrows.” “You little shank you're going to get it now!” He yelled, and went to go grab for my shoulder, and punch me, but he grabbed my hood instead revealing my long, curly, scarlet hair. Alby, Newt, and Gally were shocked by my wild looking hair color. I casted my eyes to the floor, too sad and embarrassed, to even speak, so I put my hood back on my head, and took off running with tears falling from my eyes. “Greenie wait!” Newt tried to stop me, but I was already out of their eyesight. “Nice going Gally,” Alby said angrily.I ran to the entrance/exit of the hut. I ran past a few boys that looked a bit tired, but I didn't care about them, I just ran towards the only place that looked remotely vacant which was the trees. As I was running to the grove of trees I ran into Teresa and we both fell. All of the boys stopped what they were doing, because they heard a scream, and they all rushed to see what was going on.“Ouch! Watch where you're going shank!” Teresa snapped, not knowing it was me, then she looked over at me, and she was by my side in a second. “Hey, hey now, it's okay greenie.” She said trying to sooth me and my crying.“Nothing's going to be okay,” I wailed with tears cascading down my dirtied cheeks. “I can’t even remember my name!” “Like I said greenie it's okay, the memory loss thing, it happened to all of us we don't know if we have a family.” Teresa said with some sadness lacing her voice. “Really?” I ask as I wipe the tears from my cheeks and under my eyes.“Yup, everyone here has no memory of what their life was like before all of this. Plus it's nice to have another girl around here to talk girl stuff.”With that last statement I giggled and hugged Teresa, then I realized that the guys are surrounding us.As if on cue I heard Gally “What are all you shanks just standing around for!? Get back to work!” practically yelling at the other boys to get back to work. He looked in my direction with pure rage in his eyes. My eyes widened with fear and I began to get up to run, but didn't. I might as well take my punishment now and get it over with. I hoped for the worst, but the worst never came. Gally stopped a few inches in front of me. As his hot breath was hitting my face, I slowly tried to back away from him. He noticed, and grabbed a fistful of my shirt, he cocked his fist back, then stopped. He then noticed everyone was watching, so he let go of my shirt.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

I turned around to escape the crowd, but noticed a few new faces. There were 3 boys and 1 girl. One of the boys were blonde, the other two were brunettes, one of the boys was of Asian descent, the other two were not. The girl seemed a tad bit familiar, she looked as if she was the same height as Teresa, she seemed athletic, and the vibe I’m getting from her is this ‘I don’t care’ type of vibe. She has a fair light brown complexion, wicked green eyes, and light blue hair, that looks almost like the same shade as the sky. The girl looked in my direction, but she wasn't looking at me, so I turn around and notice Gally looked like he’s seen a ghost. He lost all color in his face. I turned back around, and before I knew what was going on, the girl walked in the middle of the semi-crowd of the boys.“What in the exact fuck is going on here, Gally!” she practically yelled, looking at Gally dead in the eyes.Gally casted his eyes down, trying to avoid eye contact with her, ‘Is Gally afraid of her?’ I thought to myself as I analyze what was unfolding in front of me.“Yet again, Gally, you cease to fucking amaze me,” the girl said crossing her arms over her chest “Well, I’m waiting for an answer mister ‘I’ve-got-an-answer-for-everything!’” Gally didn’t speak a word, his eyes were glued to the ground, obviously too frightened to speak.“ Well !” she said arms still crossed over her chest with an eyebrow cocked upward, Gally stayed silent “So now you have nothing to say!” Her anger became rage within seconds, the Asian boy could tell that she was a ticking time bomb, so he stepped in. Before she could take two steps, the Asian boy grabbed a hold of her forearm, tight, but firm. With rage building up in her, she whipped her head around, “What Minho?” she hissed with anger.“Can we talk in private Rence” the Asian boy, named Minho said, not letting her go.She took a deep inhale, “Unless you want a cheap shot to the abdomen, you better start talking. But before we start talking, everyone better get the fuck back to work!”“Fine,” he said, throwing his hands in the air defensively.“Not you Minho.” She said with a cocked eyebrow, and arms crossed over her chest. Then she looked over at me, her dark brown eyes practically piercing my whole being, “Beat it greenie.”I could tell what they wanted to talk about was of private matters, so I turned around and quickly ran away, towards Teresa.“What was that about?” I say pointing over my shoulder to Minho and Rence.“What was what about?” she turned around, looking to where I was pointing to.“Oh.” she said with a bit of irritation lacing her voice. “Those two are sort of a ‘THING’, plus she doesn’t like me all too much.” “Um ok, I didn’t want to know their relationship status.” I say before she could say anything else. “What I was asking about was why was Gally afraid of Rence?”“Oh! I can answer that.” Newt said from behind me, making me jump out of my skin.“Seriously Newt.” I say, then playfully slap his arm, as he slightly laughs at my reaction.“Sorry about that greenie, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He says patting me on the head.“I forgive you, now explain.” I say with eagerness. We walked to a bench and sat down.“Well isn’t someone in a bit of a rush.” Newt said with a slight chuckle. “What I remember was, when Rence had came back from the Maze. She was stung at the time ,and was going through the Changing, so she was completely mad. She was just screaming like a crazy person. She was saying something about her having a sister, and that she needs to find her sister.”“Hold on?” I said, with a mass amount of curiosity, surging through my brain. “What’s the changing and how do you get stung?”“Well greenie.” he began. “I don’t want to scare you on your first night in the Glade.” He then looked behind me, and stopped his sentence before he could even start. He then said “I just remembered I have to go get something's ready for tonight. Bye greenie.” He then got up and walked away.“What the heck was that about Teresa?” I turn to Teresa, she’s turned around, and looks almost sick. I then turn around and saw Rence 10 feet away from us. “Oh crap.” I turn to Teresa for an answer, but she was gone. “Where did she…” I mumbled to myself, then turned back around, and noticed that Rence was about 10 inches away from my face.“Hey greenie.” She began, and sat on my left. She then asked me, “Do you remember your name at all?”That question took me by surprise, “Well… um... no.” I say in a sad tone.“What about anything from your past life?” She asked in a hope filled voice.I sat there and thought for a bit, but nothing came to mind. My mind was completely blank. I looked at Rence then I looked at my hands. “I wish that I could help you,” I began to say, “but if I don't remember my own name, I pretty sure that I won’t remember my old life.” I say choked up with a single tear sliding down my right cheek.“Trust me on this greenie, you’ll start to remember some stuff while you’re here.” She said with a sad smile.“If I survive the maze.” I mumble to myself.“What?” she said oblivious to what I just said to myself.“Oh it’s nothing, I was just thinking out loud.” I say to switch up the topic.“Same old sis thinking out loud like usual.” she said in a slightly saddened tone, and her eyes casted to her hands.“Wait what?” I say dumbfounded, looking right in her eyes.“Can we go for a walk, so that I can explain how I know this information about you.” Rence said with pleading eyes.“Okay! Fine just as long as you tell me everything about myself, and I mean EVERYTHING.” I said somewhat sternly.“Yes!” She said to herself, while pumping one of her fists. We both got up from the bench and began to walk around.“Before you tell me about myself, could you please tell me where I am.” I ask a bit lost by my surroundings.“Did anyone ever tell you where you were?” She stopped mid walk just to ask me that question.“Well...no, nobody told me where I’m at.” I said while I play with the hem of my shirt.“Dear fucking God, are you serious, so nobody showed you around?” She asked starting to get angry.I shook my head ‘No’, “Would you mind telling me where I might be?”“This is Alby’s damn job, but okay.” She mumbled, to herself in a pissed off tone, while pinching the bridge of her nose. “This place is called the Glade, and that large opening in the wall, over there,” she said while directing my attention towards the giant wall with the large opening in it. “That is the Maze, nobody goes in except for the Runners.”She then looked at the wall, and motioned me to follow her. We stopped in front of the Maze opening. Then out of nowhere a gust of wind came out of the Maze, almost knocking me over, then I heard the sound of gears moving. I moved back a bit, and looked up, the walls were closing. When the walls were completely closed, I then turned to her, “So what now?”“Well, at dusk we, the whole Glade, have a surprise for you.” she said with a smirk.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Dusk came faster than I thought. The Gladers had set up a large bonfire, that consisted of broken boxes, and masses of plywood. I could feel the excitement build up inside me like I was going to explode. Once everyone was there, a handful of the guys - including Alby, Newt, Minho, and Gally - had torches in hand. I could feel the excitement in the air. As the rest of the Glade came to surround the wooden structure.“Light ‘em up!”  Alby was the first to throw his torch at the large structure, signaled the others to follow his lead.As the others began to enjoy themselves, I had set out to look for Rence.

After about five to ten minutes of searching for her, I could hear faint screaming in the distance. I was going to go check out where the screaming was coming from, I felt a light tapping on my shoulder. I slightly jumped at the contact getting goosebumps. I had turned around and was hugged by a half-drunken Newt, holding two jars of strangely colored liquid."Hello greenie, anything come back to ya yet?" he half slurred, handing me one of the jars, slightly teetering."Um... Thanks, Newt," I said while taking the jar in hand. "Nothing came back to me yet, even after talking with my apparent sister." I sigh while running my fingers through my scarlet hair."Oh trust me greenie it'll come back to you sooner or later." he hiccups and patted me on the head. He then gives me a half hug, and proceeds ask me why I had talked to Rence. Before I could answer him I looked behind him, and saw Rence, with messy hair, walking hand in hand with Minho."Thanks for the drink Newt, but I got to go do something," I said and headed towards Rence and Minho. As I made my way towards Rence and Minho, I made the mistake of glancing slightly to the right. I then noticed Gally was watching me walk to them, I had quickened my pace a bit to try and avoid his gaze. Without even paying attention to my surroundings I ran into someone, and we both went down screaming. The music stopped, and everyone looked at us as we were a bunch of tangled limbs.“Oh, I’m so sorry, I swear I never meant to run into you.” I started to apologize to whoever I just ran into.“It’s alright little sis, just calm down what's got you all riled up?” The person who I recognized as Rence said.“Oh thank God, it’s just you Rence,” I said while we both got up and dusted ourselves off, “Still sorry about the whole running into you, it’s just that I feel like someone’s watching my every move.” I had said in a hushed whisper, as I had looked around. She then looked around noticing that the other Gladers were looking in our direction. “What’s everyone doing? I thought this was a celebration of the Greenie?” She said with enthusiasm trying to pump everyone up but failed miserably.“Well, this celebration is turning into a bust.” I heard the boy with blonde hair mumble under his breath.“Slim it, Ben.” I heard Minho say, while the other brunette just walked over to Teresa.“I got this Renc,” I said to reassure her that I have a plan.I then excused myself from Rence then walked over to the drummers, and asked if they could start back up the music again, and so they slowly but surely began to bang their drums. I then suggested something, that would have me either sick or dead by tomorrow.“So Gladers,” I yelled to get everyone's eyes on me, “Who wants to see how much of this stuff, that Gally made, can everyone handle?” I raised my jar above my head.Everyone started to cheer.“You sure you can handle that challenge greenie?” Alby said to me, trying to get me to back out.“I’m sure I can handle myself Alby,” I said before I tripped over a rock and spilled my drink.“Aww, really greenie!” A familiar voice said to me. I then looked up and saw Teresa, with a part of her pants wet.“Oops sorry Teresa,” I said to her as she was escorted elsewhere by Thomas.“Smooth one there greenie.” an all too familiar voice says to me.“Whatever, you’re lucky I don’t call Rence over here, Gally,” I say with a bit of arrogance lacing my voice.“You wouldn't dare,” Gally said while glaring at me, as I smirked with my arms crossed over my chest.“You wanna bet on that, she sees me as someone she's close to,” I said in a semi-threatening tone.“Whatever greenie.” Gally scoffed and walked away.

So far our game of who can drink the most had turned into a game of ‘dare or double dare’ which has become quite eventful.“Okay, who's next?” Newt slurred while his drink was half gone.Nobody said anything, but all night Rence tried to get me to have a turn, since she was unbearably drunk, until someone said something to break the silence.“I'll go next.” Gally had volunteered, for the first time all night, to our game of ‘dare or double dare’.      “This is going to be bad if someone dares Gally, of all people, into something that is completely out of his element I think he just might kill us,” I say in a hushed voice to Rence, and Minho, getting snickers, and giggles, from both of them. We then heard Newt clear his throat, and slightly hiccup.“Okay, Gally here will now be doing a double dare,” Newt said with a smirk plastered on his face while swaying to the sound of the still playing drums. “Ben if you would please, tell everyone here what, our wonderful friend here's double dares are?” he said while hiccuping in between every other word.“Gladly,” the blonde guy from earlier said with a side smirk, “First dare out of Gally’s double dare is,” he said while silencing everyone before pointing in my direction, me being oblivious to what's bound to happen, “he and the Greenie have to down 6 of these bad boys!” Ben rose one of the jars above his head.“What?!” Everyone around the bonfire shouted in complete shock, causing me to jump.“Well, I was kind of expecting this all night,” I said in a slight nonchalant type of tone.“Oh, have you, little sister?” Rence said a bit curiously.“Yeah,” I say while I get up from the log, “ besides this stuff smells quite strong, I probably won't make it past the first,” I paused then pondered for a second, “never mind, make that half the, first, glass.” I finished telling Rence before I started to walk up to where the five other jars are.As I stood around my six jars waiting for Gally to walk back over here so we can get this over and done with.“Can you please hurry up, we don’t have all night!” I shouted over to the group of boys surrounding Gally.“Don’t get your panties in a twist you little shank,” Gally said while getting up from one, of the many, stumps surrounding the fire pit, “besides you probably won’t make it past the first sip,” he said with a smirk playing on his face. When he said that, half the boys gave me Oo’s, and the other half just laughed, I just scoffed at his childish comment.“Okay, whatever, Major Attitude,” I commented as I started to tie my hair up, for just in case purposes.“Okay that’s enough trash talk you two,” Newt interjected before things got too out of hand, “before you two start I would like to pre-warn you, Greenie, that you will get a strong urge to spit it out, just try your hardest to take it down.” he finished saying, he then patted me on the shoulder then whispered in my left ear ‘good luck because you’re gonna need it.’“Well I would say ‘good luck’, but I already know that I’m going to win in both events,” Gally said quite arrogantly just to get me pissed at him.“I was going to say ‘good luck’ to you too, but I really need to focus on seriously kicking your ass in both events,” I told Gally with a fake smile on my face. Some of the guys started to laugh, “well good luck to both of you,” Alby said to us, mainly me, “Ben if you would.” he signaled Ben to start counting down.“3, 2, 1,” Ben began, so we could ready ourselves, “GO!”The moment Ben told us to begin I quickly grabbed the first jar and started to chug it down as fast as I could. I thought the moment the liquid hit my throat I was going to choke like everyone else, it only burned my throat a bit, when the burning went away the rest went down smoothly. The guys looked at me in complete shock. Half of them were cheering me on alongside my sister, while the others were cheering on Gally then stopped the moment they saw me getting to my third jar. “How is she not choking,” I heard Alby say in complete disbelief.“I have no clue, but she’s seriously going for it,” the familiar voice of Ben said.“That’s some intense stuff right there,” Newt said, sounding more sober than drunk at this moment.“I thought that Gally was the only one who could handle that stuff,”“Guess you thought wrong,” one boy said, making the others snicker. When Gally got to his last jar and I was done with my last jar, as everyone was chanting ‘Greenie’, I was shocked myself that I chugged that stuff down without choking.“Geez, Greenie didn’t know you had it in ya,” Minho congratulated me, as he hit me on my back causing me to burp very loud.“Sorry,” I said sheepishly, as my cheeks started to burn from embarrassment, then out of nowhere something sparks in my head, and I started to mumble some type of tune.“What are you doing over there Greenie,” Minho, who was still standing right beside me, curiously asked. Before I could even answer, Rence piped in saying, “music,” she genuinely smiled at me, “she is mumbling music,” she told him as I smiled back at her.“Well I guess you just learned something new,” she smiled at him, while handing me a glass of water.“Oh, by the way,” she looked at me, then gestured to me to walk over to her, “ drink the water otherwise you will get and I quote ‘Sea Sick’.” She then air quotes with her fingers.“You really need to drink that water otherwise the next day you’ll feel like clunk if you don’t.” Minho piped in trying to convince me to drink the water.“Whatever being ‘Sea Sick’ is doesn’t sound fun,” I began to say, then looked at the glass of water in my hand, “not today.” I said to myself as I instantly started chugging down the water. As I finished I overheard a few boys saying that Gally is furious, first; he lost the first dare to a Greenie (me), and second; Thomas has been flappin’ non sensible bullshit out his jaws about Gally and the Greenie (me again), which made me just want to punch Thomas’ face in. I stood there still listening to the conversation that was going on between the two guys, I overheard one say that since Gally is beyond pissed that whoever he goes against in the sand pit is probably going to die, at that point I stopped listening.‘I’m dead, yup that’s it, I’m so dead.’ I then thought about making up an excuse to make sure I DON’T get pummeled by Gally, then a random thought came to mind, ‘it’s either this or the maze.’ I internally groaned as I went on the search for Rence. It didn’t take long for me to find Rence, and Minho, they were standing around the fighting pit with the rest of the Gladers. As I went to stand by Rence my nosy ass overheard another conversation.“Poor Thomas,” I overheard Frypan say sympathetically.“He pretty much had it coming,” the guy standing next to him, named Winston, said bluntly.“How so,” Rence’s friend Ben asked.“He started acting like a slint-head the moment that the Greenie got here,” Winston went on to say, “and as the day went on Thomas was still going saying things like; ‘Gally has a thing for the Greenie,’ and ‘Gally needs to get laid, the Greenie could probably help if she’s even attracted to you,’ then he’d start laughing.” Winston air quoted Thomas’ words, as I continued to watch Gally beat the life out of Thomas.“Don’t listen to those shanks,” Rence told me, while watching the fight also, “but Winston is right, Thomas was instigating Gally all day.” She said irritably.“But why,” I say in confusion, “he does know that, him doing clunk like that makes my situation with Gally even worse, right?” I yell in a hushed tone, as I groan knowing that I’m dead when I step foot in the fighting pit.I began to wait for the fight to be done with, when it was technically over the moment Gally started pounding Thomas’ face in. At that point I began pacing around nervously.“What’s that matter,” Rence cut off my pacing route, “is it the fighting, you usually aren’t squeamish about blood.” She tried to think about why I’m nervous. So I had to pull her aside just to talk to her on why I’m so nervous.“I’m nervous because first off I don’t want to look like Thomas,” I point to the fighting circle, “and second I don’t want to go into the maze tomorrow.” I say knowing that she’s about to ask me what I’m talking about.“I already know that you know what I’m about to ask, but I’ll ask anyway.” she says nonchalantly, “what are you talking about?” She still managed to ask me.“Well,” I hesitate to answer, “tomorrow, before the walls close, I have to go into the maze.” I said as my voice cracked, and a few tears fell from my eyes.“Where did you hear that?” Rence asked quite upset, but her facial expressions told me otherwise on how she’s going to physically react.
“I overheard Newt, Alby, and Gally talking,” I started saying, then I dared to look over to the fighting pit. To my dismay the fight was over as soon as they hauled Thomas off to the med-jack’s hut. It was my turn to go against Gally, and that’s when I felt my heart pounding in my chest faster than a drum being played. Then I heard some of the guys say “The Greenie is next.” At this point it felt like my heart was about to instantly stop. I wasn’t ready to go against Gally after seeing what pure rage, and strength, can literally do. It felt like my legs were about to buckle because of how petrified I was.

“Where’s the Greenie?” I heard Gally say, and his tone of voice was
NOT
chill. At this point my legs did indeed buckle out of fear.

“Woah, there,” Rence says while catching me, before I completely collapse, “you don’t look too good.” But before I could say anything everyone heard this blood curdling screech that made me even more petrified.

“Well, that would be our cue to clean up and hit the hay.” Alby announced to the Gladers, but their responses were a bunch of groans.

“And this is our cue to go,” Rence whispers to me, then escorts me to the homestead.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

That night I slept like a rock, but instead of dreaming, I had a nightmare, one that felt real.
~Enter Nightmare~
My wrists and ankles were tied to a wooden chair that was bolted to the wood floor panels. I was in a room located somewhere in the homestead, that looked like some kind of run-down part that was never fixed up. A group of Gladers was slowly circling the chair I was tied to. I could easily tell who these Gladers were, I first saw Rence, after her it was Theresa, then Newt, and lastly Gally, they had knives in their hands. They continued to circle me as I tried to tug at my restraints, and they all started to laugh, I then tried to scream out for help, but I couldn’t make myself.
“Aww, what’s the matter, cat got your tongue,” Gally then said to me, with a cynical smile on his face, “hey guys I think the Greenie should tell us her name.” He says as his blade eerily close to my face.

“I agree,” Rence piped in, then looked at the others, “how about we play a game here Greenie?” She says with a menacing look, causing me to get a sickening feeling in my stomach.

“What kind of game?” I dared to ask, as I continued to pull at my restraints.

“Oh, nothing too serious,” Newt says while tossing his blade in the air and catching it by the handle, “just a name game.” He grins as he says that.

“But” Theresa says while prolonging the ‘U’, popping the ‘T’, and tilting her head all in one go, “if you can’t remember your name, we’ll simply kill you.” She said with a slight chuckle.

“Wait, that’s not even fair,” I complain, as the restraints start to slowly tighten around my wrists and ankles.

“Well, that’s the game Greenie,” Newt says to me while shrugging.

“Rence is the only one who knows your name,” Theresa says, as she’s eerily close to my ear.

“Then why would you four go to such lengths for me to remember my own name?” I question with a mixture of fear and confusion.

“Because” Gally says bluntly while dead eyeing me.

“That’s not even a reason!” I yell, practically scared out of my mind.

“How’s about this Greenie,” Rence says calmly while holding her knife dangerously close to my abdomen, “we’ll give you a real reason if you guess your name.” She then started laughing maniacally.

“You have ten seconds to remember Greenie,” Gally says to me, “good luck sweet cheeks.” He says with a menacing grin, as the others started counting down.

“I can’t remember my name,” I say, as I started crying, “please, I don’t want to die, I really mean it, I can’t remember my name,” I say, as tears cascade down my cheeks.

“Damn, and here I thought you would,” Rence said emotionlessly “well I guess that’s game over,” she says as she turns her back to me.
The second she turned her back to me as if on cue I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen I looked to where the sharp pain was located, and it dawned on me that one of the others stabbed me. My eyes connected to the hand holding the blade, which quickly pulled back the blade followed by a sickening chuckle to who belonged to Gally, but before I could look at him, I felt a warm liquid falling from my nose into my mouth giving me an iron taste. A few seconds pass and I feel another sharp pain in my back causing me to sharply gasp from the pain and I start coughing up blood, that’s when I started crying again while also repeating ‘I’m sorry’. They started heading out of the room, but before they left completely Teresa turned around and threw the last two blades at me, one landed in my left shoulder and the other landed directly on my chest. I feel more blood come up my throat causing me to start wheezing, I could feel my heartbeat slowing down, my head slumped down, and my eyesight was starting to go blurry. At this point, all I could do is watch as the pool of my own blood grew larger, and the last thing I could hear was myself say ‘I’m sorry’ then after that complete darkness.
~End of Nightmare~

I gasped as my eyes shot open, I was covered in sweat, I sat up and started to frantically check my body for any open wounds or knives embedded in my skin. I immediately got out of my hammock and walked out of the homestead and headed to the dining area. Not a soul was awake when I woke up and walked out, by the time I saw another person was when the sun started to rise. I didn’t realize who it was until I heard this person yelling ‘Sis where are you?’ to which I knew it was Rence. I was about to get her attention until my mind started to flashback to my nightmare which caused me to freeze, I then started tearing up and breathing heavily. At this point I had already started panicking so before she could turn around and see me, I get up from my sitting position on the ground and then quickly headed to the grove of trees, to which I heard someone yesterday call it the Deadheads, to hide until it was time for me to enter the Maze. I made it to the edge of the Deadheads and then turned around to see other Gladers headed to eat, I saw Rence’s figure turn and head over to where the others were, then not even a few moments passed and I see everyone running out of the Homestead and they start calling ‘Greenie’, or ‘Where are you Greenie’ and as they were on the search for me, to which my bodily response was to run into the Deadheads, and not where anyone could find me in plain sight. As I ran deeper into the Deadheads, my thoughts kept repeating one word which was ‘Renaus’. I ran until I saw an area thick with trees and in the middle of those trees was a wide enough space for a good amount of light to come through, and a hollowed-out log on its side. I then thought this was a too obvious spot to hideout at, I then crouched down to take a look inside this hollowed-out log then thought ‘could be worse’. I decided to crawl into the log, to make sure nobody finds me. I tuck my hair in my hood and tuck my legs so it wouldn’t be obvious that I’m in this log. As I wait for the moment that someone finds me here, I take this opportunity to get some proper rest, as I listen to the sounds of nature, I slowly but surely fall asleep inside of this hollowed-out log.
~Rence’s POV~
I woke up due to my body clock, as a runner, I have to get up early. I go to turn around to check on my sister and her hammock is empty, I wasn’t worried too much ‘She’s probably using the can’ I thought to myself, I decided to walk to the back of the Homestead to where the toilets were located, I knocked on one of the stalls then opened the door then noticed that nobody was in any of the stalls. At this point, I checked everywhere in the Homestead, and still couldn’t find her, so I put on my shoes and decided to go check outside. On my way out of the bunk area of the Homestead, I purposely woke up Minho.“Minho, get up it’s almost dawn,” I whisper yell, while roughly shaking him awake, “I need your help with something.” My voice cracked a bit, as a few tears left my eyes.“What’s the matter?” Minho says groggily while trying to wake up.“She’s gone and I don’t know where she went,” I say slightly panic-stricken.“Which girl is gone?” He says slightly confused.“My sister,” I say, while almost beginning to hyperventilate, “when I went to go check on her, she wasn’t in her hammock, and I checked everywhere in the Homestead,” I say quickly as I keep panicking.“Shit,” he says, while practically jumping out of his hammock, “you go check if she’s outside, and I’ll double-check in here.” He says to me, as he gives me a reassuring hug. “Don’t worry, she couldn’t have gone far.” He says to me before we separate to go on a two-man search for my sister. ~Time Skip Through A Short Two-Man Search~ I sat next to Minho while the others were eating at their ‘designated’ seats for breakfast. I didn’t feel like eating, because I was too worried about my sister, and where she could have gone. She is either somewhere in the Glade hiding for God knows why, or she went into the Maze which she is clearly terrified of going in. At this point, Minho had already told Alby, and Alby told everyone else that after breakfast we’re all to go find her, but nobody is to check the Maze. Breakfast was quiet for the most part except for the usual chatter from a few people. In the middle of everyone eating, and chatting, I heard Gally starting his mouth.“This is complete pig clunk,” he raged over the situation, “why should we look for the slint-headed Greenie anyways?” He continued to say, starting a fire in me to the point where my knuckles were turning white. Minho noticed my anger, he just casually placed his hand on my balled-up fist, which worked immediately, “Gally you can slim it!” He yells from where we are sitting. Then Gally retorts without turning around, “I’m just saying that the Greenie is probably long gone by now.” He said nonchalantly while shrugging basically not caring. On that note, I immediately got up, from my seat, and was about a table away from Gally’s, until Minho got up from his seat and quickly stood in front of me. “Don’t do this Rence,” Minho warned me, already knowing what I was about to do, “you already know what’s going to happen if you do anything to him,” he tells me referring to the handful of times that I hit the slammer, and also the fact that I punched Gally in the face four days ago, which caused me to be on the watch list because according to Alby I was getting too violent with Gally.  I just threw my hands up in defeat, “fine, I just don’t want to end up back in the slammer, or on Alby’s three-strike system,” I admit as I sit back down, “I’m already on Alby’s watch list for being too violent, but I hoped that someone had a bit of common fucking sense,” I  say loud enough to where Gally and everyone else could hear me, “I guess only slimy-head shanks have no common sense, right Gally?” I purposely say louder, so that Gally can hear how angered I was, causing the rest of the Gladers, including his table of Builders, to have a bout of rolling laughter.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

~Gally’s POV~
The other Gladers laughed at what Rence said to me, I forced myself to ignore the laughter and finish the rest of my breakfast. The other Builders could tell that I was livid because I could feel my face getting hot. I got up returned my tray to Frypan and was about to say something to Rence but decided not to entertain her, I just walked away and decided to go to the Deadheads to cool down. On my way to the clearing in the Deadheads, I slightly noticed that after I left the Homestead to cool down, Zart and Winston were following me. They’re the only true friends that I actually have and are the only ones, besides Alby, who knew the fact that I might actually like the Greenie, and Thomas overheard the three of us talking and told everyone. So, I had to play it off and act like the hard ass that I apparently am and got into a fight with her yesterday, and last night I only wanted to show Thomas a lesson on eavesdropping. I had made it to my spot of peace, and tranquility, and sat on the hollowed-out log alongside Winston and Zart.“I severely hate her,” I stated the second I got comfortable on the log.“We know,” Winston admitted, instead of his usual joke-around question of ‘Really, do tell us more?’“You tell us about it every time you get like this,” Zart pointed out the fact that I always say that before I start my usual ranting.“Please, just talk about something else instead of Rence.” They said in unison, clearly annoyed by my repetitive topic.“What about the Greenie?" Winston questioned, hoping that I’d leave the subject of Rence alone.“Yeah, what are your thoughts about the whole situation with the Greenie today?” Zart also questioned, hoping that my thoughts of anger would turn into something different.“My thoughts are more fearful about her since she went ‘missing’,” I started spewing about the Greenie, my thoughts just automatically went back to her, and I could feel my face getting hot out of embarrassment.“Look at you getting all flustered, because you’re talking about your little Greenie girl.” Winston lightly nudged me, while lightly chuckling, “wish Olivia saw me like how you see the Greenie.” he then looks sadly in the distance.“I just hope that she’s okay,” I say as my voice cracks and my eyes start to water.“Are you about to cry, Gally?” Zart blurted out before he covered his mouth so that way he could hold in his snickers.“Aww,” They purposely cooed in unison, and they got a nasally huff from me.
~ Time Skip Through Zart and Winston Teasing Gally Like Bros ~
At this point everyone was still on the lookout for the Greenie. The three of us were still in the Deadheads goofing off. Every now and then I would hear a strange groaning sound but decided to brush it off. By the time it hit the afternoon Winston, and I, asked Zart to go check and see if the search was done for now. As we sat there and waited for Zart to return, I could hear light snoring this time.“Hey Gally, how long do you think it’s going to take Zart to get back here?” Winston asked.“Shh,” I hush Winston, “do you hear that?” I warily questioned him.“Hear wh-,” he then stopped mid-sentence, “where is that coming from?” He questioned me.“I don’t know where it’s coming from,” I admit, “but whatever it is sounds close by.”As we started searching for the location of the noises until Zart came back. We turned around because we heard branches snapping from the direction where Zart left the Deadheads, we thought it could be someone else looking for the Greenie. Since we looked ‘busy’ I thought they would go away but whoever it was didn’t leave, so before Winston, and I, could say anything the Glader spoke.“What are you shanks doing?” The all too familiar voice of Zart questioned.“Shut your fat trap, and you’ll hear what we’re looking for,” Winston hushed Zart, then gestured to him to come closer.Zart slowly walked toward us, I could tell he was about to say something, but before he could the noises came back just a bit louder than before.“Where is that noise coming from?” He questioned while whispering, to the both of us.“That’s the thing, whatever it is sounds close, but we haven’t been able to find the source of the noise,” I confess to him.We started our search for the noises again. After what felt like an hour we searched around the surrounding trees and climbed up some trees but still nothing.“It feels like every time we get further from the log the sound gets quieter,” Zart points out the obvious to both Winston, and I, “but when we get closer to the area where the log is the sound is either louder, or gone,” He says before leaning up against a tree.“First off, my brain is completely fried trying to figure out the source, and location, of these noises,” Winston pipes in before leaning himself against a tree as well, “and second off, I think that someone is messing with us.” He says then his stomach grumbles. “I think it’s time for lunch anyways, besides Winston’s stomach growling I can hear the sound of pots and pans being hit together.” Zart says while stifling his laughter, “come on guys let’s go eat.” He says as he makes his way to the log first.Winston, and I, followed Zart to the log, I sat down and looked at the two of them before they left the Deadheads, Winston turned around.“You coming with us Gally?” He questioned me, mainly to see what I was going to say.“Nah, I’m not hungry.” I tell him in a monotone voice.“Are you sure about that Gally?” Zart asked, a little concerned.“With all that has been going on today, I’d rather be left alone with my thoughts okay,” I said in an irritated tone of voice, “besides I’d rather not deal with Rence at the moment.” I sighed while running my fingers through my hair. They both looked at each other, and silently agreed to leave me alone for now.“Alright then Gally,” Winston says cautiously, “we’ll be back later.”I waited a few seconds until they were no longer in sight, I didn’t do anything for about a good minute or so, I was in my secluded spot in the Deadheads just sitting on the log, still doing absolutely nothing. At this point I felt tired of literally everything Rence, the strange noises from who knows where, and the Greenie going missing. I got up from sitting and was about to get into the hollowed-out log up until I tripped over something. I turned to look at what I was tripped by and it was a whole shoe.“What the hell?” I mumbled to myself, ‘That wasn’t there before, I guess Winston was right’ I think to myself slightly confused, because whoever is in the log most likely heard everything that we, Winston, Zart, and I, said which is not good in any situation. If this Glader gets out of the Deadheads and starts blabbing their mouth about my business I’m screwed. I had to think fast, I stood up, cleared my throat and was about to say something until I heard Winston, and Zart talking.I immediately went their way, “Guys we’ve got a HUGE problem,” I panic, while they looked just as confused as I was not even a few seconds ago, “Winston was right, someone was messing with us, and whoever it is is hiding in the damn log.” I spoke quickly, while pointing to the hollowed-out log.“How do you know if Winston was right, Gally?” Zart questions me quizzically.“Because,” I said, as I gestured to them to follow me, then pointed at the obvious shoe sticking out of the log, “of that.”“Shit.” They said in unison, more shocked if anything.“Exactly, so what do we do?” I ask in a more slightly panicked tone. Before we could concoct a plan we heard a loud thud followed by an ‘ouch’, which caused the three of us to freeze up immediately after hearing the thud come from the log, we then looked down at the log, and watched as a person with their hood up came out of the log slightly swaying. Whoever they are, they were either sleeping or possibly hiding.I feel like this person was going to fall over, due to the way this person was moving.“I’m so tired,” They whined groggily, then started clearly crying, this was definitely one of the girls, but who I don’t know.I mentally examined this girl, from the skin tone of her hands it could have been Abbie, but Abbie is absolutely inseparable from Alby, then I thought that it could have been Rence, which sent a chill down my spine, I just know damn well that this isn’t Rence, but this girl sounded kinda like Rence. ‘There is absolutely no way,’ I thought to myself, highly skeptical on who this possibly might be. I would have expressed my thoughts to Zart and Winston, but they looked like they were in shock, before I could say, or do, anything I immediately felt a bit of weight on my chest, which quickly caught my attention causing me to stiffen. The strange Glader just put their head on my chest, and I caught a glimpse of red hair.“Guys, I’m pretty positive that this is-,” I begin to say in a slightly quiet tone of voice, while looking in the direction of Zart and Winston.“The Greenie,” They said in unison.“We need to bring her back to the others so they can stop the search.” Zart insisted to myself and Winston.I looked at her and I was completely zoned out because the entire time that we were sitting on the log, me mainly talking about how I feel about her, and she was just fast asleep inside the log possibly hearing everything I was saying. Without thinking I just picked her up, bridal style, and I felt her place her head on my shoulder. I heard her tell me thank you, which caused me to blush, I completely forgot that Zart and Winston were with me, until I heard them snickering and making kissy noises.“Aww, look Gally you found your missing princess.” Zart stiffles his laughter.“Look at him he’s all blushy,” Winston goes on to say, while also continuing to tease me.“Shut up,” I grumble to the both of them, before I begin walking through the Deadheads and back out to the opening  to the rest of the Glade.“Where should we bring her?” Zart asked the both of us.“Either the Medjacks Hut or back to the Homestead.” Winston answers almost in the form of a question.“Rence was the most concerned, so I say we bring the Greenie to her.” I suggest in a mono tone voice, “besides we have to explain to the others how we found her.”“But what if Rence accuses you of knowing the whereabouts of the Greenie?” Winston questions me more in a worried tone of voice.I slowed my steps as we got near the others that stopped their search, “I don’t care, just as long as she’s safe.” I tell them as I mumbled the last part.
