In Jungkook’s defense, Decaydance just tends to have that effect on people – after a point, even the gentlest souls she swallows are spit out, desensitized, and he, of course, is a Jeon through and through. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, and Decaydance is no different. For every floor above the ground, decked in opulence and grandeur, the club has filthy roots that dig deeper, sharp talons sunken into the darkened soil of Gangnam. She opened her doors for him at seventeen, two years before he came of age, but no one ever questioned his presence. Morality is a shallow stream of champagne; everything goes when you’ve got money to flash."How can he blame you when she’s the one who hit on you in the first place?" Hoseok shakes his head incredulously, pouring out the perignon all sloppy.Tonight, they occupy the top floor, seated closest to the infinity pool. It’s open to the sky and the moonlight glimmers, gently amalgamating with the pink and blue lighting that illuminates the dark water. From his place on the leather seats, Jungkook can see the reflection of the full moon, but it breaks as a body plunges through, some model friend of Seokjin’s, clad in a gold bikini. Raucous cheers ring out and he hears Jin’s distinct laugh, but he whips around when he feels a strange wetness run down his foot. The waiter hovering by their booth kicks into action immediately, reaching out and offering to take over, but Hobi waves him away, uncaring of the liquid trickling down the side of the table.“What were you supposed to do?” he continues, throwing a hand in the air for emphasis, “Turn down a hot piece of ass just because she was supposed to be your brother’s fiancée? Although, can’t say I blame her. Doubt any chick can resist the charms of the youngest Jeon.”Jungkook stretches, dipping a toe into the pool to test the water. It's alright. Pleasant, almost."No one's ever turned me down", he grins, lazily, “Not that I ever really gotta go looking when they’re the ones lining up in the first place.”Hobi snaps his fingers. "Exactly. Ever had to chase after someone?"The thought is so ridiculous that Jungkook has to laugh. "I'd never beg to get my dick wet."The older nods in agreement. "That's why I don't get your brother. That simp shit makes me cringe. We're alpha men, we gotta act like it, man."Jungkook watches as the rosy liquid sloshes over the edge, but his friend seems oblivious, shoving a glass in his face."This is the good shit, try it", Hobi tells him, so he takes it, although he stays flopped back in his chair, basking in the moonlight.Seokjin finishes his 'lap', hoisting himself on the edge of the pool to grab himself a sip. The two girls he'd been canoodling with titter and splash at each other where he'd left them.Jungkook raises an eyebrow when he catches him swirling the pinkish drink like some sort of connoisseur."That good, huh?"Jin shrugs, before he downs it like he’s doing shots. "Doesn't do much for me, but it's your birthday, bro. Gotta break out the fancy shit, right?"Jungkook looks away at that. The bottle is a gift for his twenty-first from Jeon senior, set his old man back by no less than 50M won. A very grand gesture indeed, bearing in mind the fact that they aren't on the best of terms, and haven't been, for quite some time. It's essentially a bribe to get him to take college seriously, get that degree in business management once and for all.His mother, like Junghyun, was a doormat till she left, but as she’d packed up her bags, she’d called him a spoiled brat, the black sheep of the family. It is what it is. Jungkook doesn't really hold it against her. In fact, he carries the titles with pride. They've taken work to earn, because sometimes the thump of the bass is loud enough to make his head spin, and sometimes the bros are all about the cash he throws on the table and sometimes he's fucked out of his head but the fucking just doesn't hit, you know?"I'm hungry", he mutters, to no one in particular.Hobi sent the damned waiter away, and can't see any of the other waitstaff lurking in close proximity as usual. They're probably out back, smoking, or whatever it is that they get up to in their spare time. Always seem to be breathing down on his neck when they shouldn't be and disappear the moment he needs them."Hey Jungkook!" a cutesy voice calls out for him, and he turns slightly, to find one of Jin's girls looking at him coyly. "Come swim with us!"Jungkook sighs. He'd honestly much rather just sip his drink in peace, maybe try to take a picture or two of the way the moon shines resolutely, a bold white against the murky backdrop. But what sort of full-blooded Jeon would turn down a pool full of skimpily clad ladies beckoning him to party.Keeping up appearances, maybe he is more like his parents than he's ever thought.Still, he lets himself be coaxed into the water, quickly shedding his loose fitting t-shirt and baggy pants to reveal his toned abs and slim waist. The display is enough to catch the eye of more or less the rest of the guest list and soon a sizable crowd has gathered by the pool, clamoring over each other to catch a glimpse of the hottest eligible bachelor in town in action.Jungkook grins as he dives, because this he can deal with. The attention, the desire so blatant in the eyes of the partygoers.. he likes it. Some covet his fortune, some his body, and others make no secret of the fact that they would bend over backwards for a chance to his heart. But Jungkook is free. He is wanted, but he is free.Once he hits the water, the yearning in the air is almost overwhelming, almost palpable, so many wet and willing bodies writhing around him, ripe for the taking. It's almost boring these days, because there's nothing Jungkook has loved more than a challenge, and these girls fluttering around him clad in their Celine and Chanel seem to have a distinct lack of spine.Perhaps they really are just that gullible or maybe it's an act, a part of their scheming to get on his good side. But he's found most folks around, regardless of social standing, tend to act utterly mindless in his presence, throwing themselves at him with no self respect whatsoever. He's not complaining, though, because he's getting his pick of cunt, and Jungkook is, at the end of the day, ruled by his hormones. What more could a guy dream of, right? They call him a heartbreaker, an international playboy, but really it isn’t like they hate him for it. In fact, it has had quite the opposite effect. Girls are drawn to him. They actively seek him, salivating over his sculpted abs and leather jackets and sobbing over his brooding eyes and rough ways. Jungkook has the alpha male thing really going for him. Women want to tame him, think they will be the one to make him see the light, but he's out of their houses before the light even hits their sleeping faces. His mother's rusted dreams of him being a happily settled man will remain just dreams, for the simple reason that a girl who can satisfy all of Jungkook's sexual needs does not exist. His exploits grow wilder every week, but he’s never quite found his match. Jungkook likes the novelty of a new piece of ass by his side every couple of nights. It’s never enough though, hardly satisfying. Jungkook can hardly get his dick up for some vanilla chick, so he tends to go for the kinkier ones, ones who are ready to let him play rough and get dirty. He likes it when their eyes water, trying to swallow him whole or the ones that let him try anal, or the ones that look up at him with adoration when he’s making a mess on their faces, degrading them with cruel words as he finally blows his load. He especially loves it when they gush over him at the end, tell him he was the best lay they'd ever had.It doesn’t really matter to him, if the girl is already in a relationship, or if he was friends with her boyfriend. It kind of fuels his ego, in fact, that she'd choose him over the other guy. If the other guy was weak and nerdy, if he cried over her, well, survival of the fittest. Darwin's theory and all that shit.He suddenly smells a sweet, tropical fruit-like fragrance, a wet hand tentatively placing itself on his bare shoulder. His head whips around in surprise and oh – it's the nameless girl from before, the woman who'd approached him earlier. She tries to subtly suggest they head out to somewhere more private, fluttering her mascara-lidden eyelashes at him in a seductive manner. She is pretty no doubt, long, wet hair clinging to her slim waist, pert tits spilling out of a woven top, but oddly enough, Jungkook just doesn't feel like it. Her face falls when she tries to cling to him and he roughly pulls away from her grasp."Jungkookie.." she whines, in that saccharine voice of hers, "Please, don't you remember me? You promised me-"Jungkook abruptly hauls himself out of the pool, muttering an excuse about needing to head off to the men's room. Has he been with her before? She looks vaguely familiar, but he doesn't remember, and frankly speaking, he doesn't give a shit. He never fucks the same hole twice.Hobi is armed with the fucking bottle again, and this time he's just finished bathing a bunch of squealing girls with the remainder of its contents. The water around them is tinged pink and Jungkook's spot by the side is all sticky, champagne saturating a sleeve of his discarded t-shirt. And suddenly.. suddenly he's had enough. He's had enough of this stupid rooftop club and his wasted friends and his absent parents with their unrealistic expectations and vested interests. One minute he's standing at the edge of a pool brimming with decadence, the epitome of luxury, and the next, he's grabbing his clothes and storming off. It's his own party, but no one even notices him leaving, or maybe they do, which is probably worse. Regardless, no one stops to question him and Jungkook manages to evade his personal manager, only to nearly bump into his father and his entourage as they filter in through the doorway. Apart from his usual sidekicks however, the chairman is also accompanied by Junghyun and his fiancée, her father, and a few other respectable looking folks with graying hair, clad in Armani and Rolex. Many businesses find their limbs entangled in Decaydance’s messy foundations, but this is hardly the place for a boardroom meeting. Looks like the power gang has gatecrashed Jungkook’s birthday bash.Jungkook has no intention of exchanging meaningless pleasantries with people he cannot stand and so he makes a sharp turn towards the staircase reserved for staff. As expected, he finds a few uniformed men and women idly chatting in a corner, leaning against a wall, although they stand to attention upon his arrival.“Sir”, one of them steps forward, eager to please, despite his own incompetence, “What can I do for you? Would you like -”“Chairman Jeon has just arrived with several important guests”, Jungkook barks at them, his severe eyes and curt tone making the bunch stumble over themselves in panic, “I suggest you make yourselves useful if you’d like to keep your jobs.”The truth is, while he does believe the staff are taking advantage of the less than sober state of most of the attendees and the delightful atmosphere to slack off, his words serve a different purpose. The newcomers being swarmed by the waitstaff creates a distraction so that he can make his escape, and while a few thousand won would have probably been enough to gain entry anyway, the deserted staircase means he can slip by unnoticed.Jungkook takes one last look at the sky before he leaves, but to his dismay, the moon has been shrouded by dark clouds. His mother would have called it an omen, but her very existence had been a curse, if his father is to be believed, so Jungkook does not care for her words any longer. He feels a slight uneasiness as he walks away though, the noise fading away as he takes the first flight of steps. There are countless lounges and bars dotting the starry skyline, each one catering to a different sect of society, right from the overhyped ones where gullible tourists line up, emptying their pockets to catch a glimpse perhaps, of their favorite k-pop idol to the cheap taverns haunted by the desperate and drunk. Decaydance stands apart from the rest, of course, by virtue of her patrons, not only the crème de la crème of Seoul’s elite, but also the most depraved. Her empire was built with dirty hands, shaped out of the debauched lives of chaebol heirs and nepo baby stars with too much money on their hands and time to blow. The parties they threw were outrageous, and the whispers that flowed after were wilder. It wasn’t just the drinks and the drugs that gave the club her name, but the uninhibited pleasures she had to offer. At a price, one could get almost anything, each of her seven floors more sinful than the first. The ground floor is like any other, an elegant bar on the side, a large dance floor with thumping music, bass making the walls vibrate. Entry is highly selective though, and it is not plain cash that can get you in, but connections and prestige. On most nights, that is as far as Jungkook and his friends venture. It is not difficult to find a willing body to grind into with the way the floor smells of sex and sweat, and it never takes them too long to tug some starlet or the other out of the mass of writhing bodies and towards the back rooms. The floors above are rumored to get progressively worse, and entrance again, is based on who you know and who knows you.Exotic dancers prance around the second floor, clad in scraps and sequins. You want a threesome? You can get a threesome. A foursome, an orgy? Anything your heart desires can be organized within the hour and served to you on a sparkling silver platter – as long as you speak the language of bills and black cards. On another floor, actors can be paid to play out the most perverted of your fantasies, and yet, on another, you can feast your eyes upon whores being tied up and teased with the most bizarre of toys. Ethically questionable, indeed, but Decaydance is untouchable. Too many people of power frequent her hallways, and besides, the poor cannot afford to leave, not when they have bills to pay and mouths to feed.It has never truly bothered Jungkook. As far as he is concerned, every member of society plays their own part. And if the rich can afford their perversions, why shouldn’t they?Junghyun disagrees with him on this one, but Junghyun, despite being the older brother, is hardly an alpha male role model Jungkook can look up to. Jungkook, he's just not about that life, you know? He's about the drinking a little too much and driving a little too fast life. Fucking a little too hard and caring too little life, you get the drift. If he leaves a trail of broken hearts in his wake, that's no one's business but his own. Peace out, man. He's got the money, he can make his own life decisions. It’s no secret that the reason their father preferred Jungkook throughout the brothers’ childhood is because of how much the younger one has taken after him. Tradition dictates the older brother should be the heir to the throne, but everyone who has ever done business with Jeon Industries has a fair inkling as to who will take over once Jeon senior steps down.Jungkook may be the baby of the family, but it’s him the paparazzi fawn over, owing to his numerous controversies and escapades. Like the time a party at Hobi's got out of control and the house accidentally went up in flames. Or the time Jin was doped up on some shit and sent the car spinning into a tree. Or that blurry clip of Jungkook fucking some bitch in the back of his Porsche that went viral on social media. He's got his devoted fans, but he's not just the It Boy of Seoul, he's the wild child.Only one of the two siblings has the characteristic recklessness, the passion, the capriciousness of a true Jeon, and that sibling is most certainly not Junghyun. But Junghyun, frustratingly, has never shown signs of choosing a different path. He graduated with honors from one of the top business schools in Seoul, while Jungkook is currently barely scraping by. He seldom attends classes, preferring instead, to take a little detour to Hobi’s penthouse, where they can play Overwatch and smoke weed and reminisce about the last tight pussy they fucked. It’s hardly a crime, really, everyone skips a lecture every now and then. Of course, maybe the university would have kicked out another kid at this point, with the way his grades have been deteriorating, but then again, the Jeon Memorial Library is one of the most well funded buildings on campus. And Sieun – poor, pathetic Sieun – just happened to be caught in the crossfire. Too naive for her own good, filled with childish dreams about being the one to finally fix Jungkook. Like there hadn’t been countless others before her. Like there wouldn’t be countless others after. Ever ready to ignore the fact that the only reason they had ever met in the first place was because she and Junghyun were being urged to tie the knot, a political marriage meant to cement the bond between their fathers’ companies.Junghyun, pliant as always, agreed to the arranged relationship without question, which for some reason pissed Jungkook off more than it ought to have. Why was he always so calm and.. and laid back in his own way? How did he expect to lead the company one day with no fire on his tongue and being an absolute doormat? Why did it always have to be Jungkook who had to compensate for his brother’s lack of manliness? The last straw was when he heard his father was actually planning to give Junghyun his own division to lead after the merger, while Jungkook’s proposal for his own business venture was put on hold ‘until he demonstrated his capabilities’. Harsh words were exchanged when Jungkook realized his father was no longer giving in to his demands, claiming he ought to improve his performance, or perhaps try applying for an internship. Was it Junghyun’s doing? Had he somehow convinced their father to favor him over Jungkook? So it was safe to say he wasn’t in the best of mindsets when Sieun approached him. She was older than him, older than what he usually went for, but she was a goner from the get go. Indulging her assured him he was a step above, a step ahead of the rest of his family, a bitter satisfaction that stayed with him much longer than the high of his orgasm. Sex, as indiscriminately he pursued it, was not always about pleasure. Sometimes it was about power, about sending a message.
Don’t mess with me. I can throw a spanner in your best thought out plans with ease.
Truly, it was her own fault, if you really thought about it. Jungkook had made her no promises, and she knew what kind of a man he was. The kind of man to seduce his brother’s fiancée just because she had a soft spot for him. The kind of man who could toss her aside when his next fling came knocking. The kind of man who had the audacity to chuckle when she confronted him.“Sweetheart”, he eyed her with an air of bored indifference. “I’m not the one who cheated, you are.”Really, she had looked so wretched, mascara streaking across her pale cheeks. So dramatic without reason. He’d only fucked her the one time, and that was also probably his brother’s fault. Knowing Junghyun, he was probably waiting for them to be man and wife before getting into her pants, which was perhaps why she had ended up seeking out the brother who actually knew how to have a good time.Sieun stormed out and Jungkook didn’t even flinch, slipping right back into bed with her replacement. There were no rules at Decaydance, after all, at least none that a Jeon had to follow. And Junghyun knew that as well, which was why he did not reveal Jungkook’s indiscretions to their father even when he found out, although he’d uncharacteristically hurled a handful of expletives his way. As far as the Chairman was concerned, though, the deal was still on. Sieun seemed to have gotten over her initial heartbreak, but it seemed like she had not fully let go of the torch she was holding for Jungkook. It looked like she was going ahead with the wedding plans, but Jungkook still found himself getting an occasional text or two, beseeching him to reconsider.Jungkook takes the steps two at a time, wet flip flops smacking noisily against the dull concrete. In typical servants’ quarters fashion, there’s nothing to write home about the staircase. It’s dark and dismal, the poor lighting a harsh contrast from the rest of the interior of the building. The first flight is thankfully deserted, because while the lower class poses no direct threat to him, they can sure be annoying. Money hungry and easily bought, always prying into other people’s business and inserting themselves in it without an ounce of shame.Even the walls have ears, don’t they? That’s because of the poor, who infiltrate them, living within them, ticking away like deathwatch beetles, just waiting for the right opportunity to barge in and ruin lives. They are the rats and roaches of humanity, leeching off the successful few.Jungkook sighs as he walks, trying to calm the piercing pain that flares up somewhere in the pit of his soul. There’s no use working himself up. After all, it’s not the rats that run this city.He slows down once he reaches the landing – while he has no doubts about his muscular prowess, honed through hours at the best gym Gangnam had to offer and imported protein formulas handpicked by dieticians he shared with A-list celebs – he is not exactly planning to jog down several flights of steps just for the sake of it. It’s a smarter idea to simply enter the club, walk across the floor to the elevators and then get off at whatever floor he wants to.What he doesn’t expect, however, is to be accosted by a security guard when he tries to sneak in.The man is surprisingly short and not nearly as bulky as he would have expected a guard to be, but his pale face is stern, suggesting he is not to be messed with.“Listen dude”, Jungkook tells him, “I just gotta cross over to the elevators. You gotta let me through.”The man shakes his head. “I’m sorry sir, but unless you can show me some id proof, I can’t let you in. Access to Purgaytory is members only. Do you have a card?”Jungkook huffs in exasperation, pulling out his black card. “Will this card do?”“I definitely encourage you to apply for a membership”, the man says, without hesitation, “But processing takes time and references are needed for approval. That card is meaningless to me.”“Hey man”, Jungkook takes a step closer, jaw ticking, “Do you know who I am? I’m a Jeon – my circles practically run this place.”“This level”, the man’s eyes narrow, but his voice stays firm, “Requires exclusive membership, regardless of whether you are on Decaydance’s guest list. Feel free to enquire about the terms and conditions at the reception.”“You do realize you could lose your job for talking to me like that.”“I could also lose my job for letting you in. I know what route I’m picking.”“I get it, you’re the big bad boss of this island”, Jungkook snaps, fists curling, “I’m telling you man, I don’t need a membership, I just need to get to the other side.”“Like I haven’t heard that one before. There’s a reason they’ve got me stationed outside the staff entrance. People resort to desperate measures to get into Purgaytory.”“The fuck are you on, dude? I could not care less about getting into -”“Hey”, a muffled voice interrupts, and Jungkook whirls around, his eyes landing on a stranger behind him, a lean man carefully carrying multiple cardboard boxes stacked on top of each other. The man sets his luggage on the floor and Jungkook blinks as he comes into view. There’s a slight sheen of sweat across his forehead, and his breaths are a little uneven, like he’s just lugged his load all the way up the stairs. No, but that's not what makes Jungkook stop in his tracks. What makes him stare, is how utterly breathtaking the man is. So out of place on the ugly stairs. He's tall, around his own height, with slender limbs and broad shoulders. Thick lashes and strong eyebrows frame his large eyes, a prominent cupid's bow to his lips. He wears a beanie on top of a head full of dark curls, a brown coat hanging over a fuzzy sweater. Not exactly dressed for the club then, but neither is he in uniform. He has features suited for the runway, but Jungkook has never laid eyes on him before. And the fact that he is using this ill-equipped staircase and performing physical labor, suggests he is not one of Jungkook’s kind. And normally, that would be enough. Jungkook, unlike his father, does not fraternize beyond necessity with the lower class – that’s one trait he vows never to pick up from the man. So knowing the stranger is a member of that class should have put an end to his curiosity, but somehow, oddly enough, he finds himself wondering about his identity. The next words the man speaks – and his voice, contradictory to his pretty appearance, is low and smoky – only serve to confuse Jungkook further.“Hyung”, the man says, addressing the security guard, “Yoongi hyung – please. Let him in, he’s with me. I’ll escort him.”The guard – Yoongi – looks unconvinced. “Kid, he said he was a – what was it? A Jeon, like it meant something. If it does, I doubt he’s a buddy of yours. Why are you covering for him?”Pretty eyes sighs. “Just because you live under a rock doesn’t mean the world does. I know him, hyung, or at least I know of him. He’s literally the most notorious womanizer in Seoul. One of the big shots. Influential dad. The tabloids can’t get enough of him. Somehow, I doubt he’d be trying to illegally sneak into a hedonistic gay club.”Oh, Jungkook thinks. And then oh.For starters, he hadn’t realized Purgaytory was a gay club. He’d been aware one of Decaydance’s levels featured male entertainers and the like, but he’d never bothered to investigate. Never had reason to. Now, it seems obvious. Even the name was rather telling. He can’t believe he hadn’t figured it out. Perhaps he is more drunk than he’d realized. And secondly – huh. So this, this is what people think of him. This is his image in the minds of the commoners. This is how people must talk about him behind his back – only so far, all the songs they sing in his presence are simpering, sycophantic symphonies. It makes him even more curious about the guy.“Another brat then”, Yoongi rolls his eyes, mutters something under his breath that sounds suspiciously like ‘eat the rich’. “Gotta love capitalism. Fuck this shitty ass job.”Pretty eyes grow teasing. “You could always work with me, you know. Jimin works long hours now. I need to hire someone.”“I just might”, Yoongi says, with a half smile, “But on second thoughts, probably not. Jimin would never let me hear the end of it, if I did. In any case, Tae – you’ve got to talk to them about using the elevators. I wouldn’t last two floors, I don’t know how you do it.”Tae – Jungkook finally has a name! He rolls it in his mouth, likes the way it feels on his tongue. Tae.‘Tae’ nods. “I’ll talk to them. But for now – you’ll let us through.”Yoongi glances over at Jungkook, distrust evident on his features.“Be careful about what you’re getting yourself into, Tae. I’ll take you at your word, but the dude’s your responsibility now.”“Thanks hyung. I owe you one.”“Get going, kid. And tell your guy – no loitering.”For the slightest of moments, Tae appears slightly flustered, fumbling with the boxes he’s trying to pick up again. Jungkook watches with a perplexed frown, as the tips of the man’s ears turn pink. As far as he can tell, there was no innuendo in whatever the guard had said. Strange.“He’s not my – you know what? Nevermind.” Tae turns to Jungkook instead, flashes him a hesitant smile, “We can go. Just – stick with me, alright? The name’s Taehyung.”“Uh.. yeah, sure”, Jungkook says, as he follows him.“Not gonna thank me, Jungkook-ssi?” Tae asks, glancing at him with an impish grin. “I did make your life easier, didn’t I?”Jungkook falters. That.. that was entirely unexpected. No one ever tells him to thank them, never so explicitly. That’s just not how things work in the rest of Decaydance, no one talks like that to a Jeon. But he’s starting to see there just might be something different about this guy, this mysterious Tae who looks like he could grace the cover of Vogue, but appears to work as some sort of a delivery guy. Who gets flustered without any apparent reason, and goes out of his way to help him gain entry to secretive clubs, again, without any reason or incentive.Perhaps he does owe him a thank you.“T-thanks”, Jungkook ends up saying, and it comes out weird and stilted, stuttered like gratitude is a concept that’s foreign to him, which it really isn’t, but it’s been a while since anyone has helped him out without any hint of a hidden motive.Taehyung’s grin grows wider, the apples of his cheeks rising softly like baked bread. His long lashes dust the round tops.. and as they step into the club, he’s golden. Lights dance across his skin and it’s mesmerizing enough that Jungkook nearly does a double take. He’s met a lot of people throughout his twenty-one years so far, socialized far more than an average person of his age, but he’s yet to meet someone as oddly captivating as Taehyung. He’d always felt the overexposure to life’s depravities has numbed him too early, but there is something about this man that makes him want to know more about him.“Great”, Tae says, easily, and before Jungkook understands what’s happening, half the boxes are being dumped into his hands. “Help me carry these if you really are thankful. This shit’s heavy as fuck.”Jungkook snorts. This is going to be interesting for sure.
