Far away lied a world known as Skylands, an ancient world resting upon a floating archipelago, full of wonder and mystery.
Here in Skylands, magic flows through everything-to every rock, tree ,and beast that calls this land their home.
For as long as anyone could remember, Skylands has been under the protection of the wisest and most powerful beings of all, the Portal Masters. Together with greatest warriors from around all of Skylands that grew to be known as Skylanders, the Portal Masters kept peace and balance in the world, so that all creatures could thrive in peace.
And the greatest among them was Master Eon. For generations, he and his Skylanders protected not just the Skylands but also the Core of Light. Built by the ancients, the Core of Light enriched the world, holding back the Darkness and all forces of evil.
But now, after the Great War, Eon was now the last of the Portal Masters of Light and growing weaker with age. He knew it was only a matter of time, before the Darkness would return...
It was a beautiful day in Skylands. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the disproportionate amount of sheep were grazing in peace as children played and the adults worked.However, not quite everything was normal to say the least, considering the strange smoky grey clouds that seemed to linger in the sky quite ominously as it expanded. Something approached and it was most certainly not something good.On an island full of life, located on the equator of the Skylands, there lies a citadel, where a man stood on a balcony, staring at the sky with a look of great scrutiny.The man had pale skin, bright blue eyes, and a rather large nose with a gorgeous snowy white beard. He was dressed in a crystal blue robe with a blue and gray Viking esque six horned horned helmet. Adorned across his chest was a pale blue sash, emblemed with the eight symbols of the elements. In his hand was a simple silver staff with a bright blue orb nestled at the top."Master Eon!"Running up to the man was an odd creature to those not from this land. It was a rather short mabu- a furry rodent like creature-wearing an oversized green jacket and large black rimmed spectacles. His bespectacled eyes wide with worry and fear as he came up to the man's side."Master Eon, those clouds! I-is something wrong?!" He shouted in a panicked tone."Hugo," Eon said in a calm demeanor, "have you ever known dark, boiling, ominous clouds to be a good thing?"Hugo bit his lip, glancing aside to the sky and felt a twinge in worry when he noticed the clouds were growing darker and creepier as it approached.Whatever it was is certainly no good.In silent anticipation, the two watched as the smog suddenly stooped in place...and out of the gloom came a flying black fortress, that entire décor just screamed evil and foreboding. All of a sudden, a blue shimmer emerged from the air before it became a giant, holographic head. The head was quite large and quite blue, its face tattooed, eye blank white, and covered by a hood."BEHOLD! IT IS I, KAOS! LONG HAVE I WAITED FOR THIS DAY TO TAKE MY REVENGE!" The head shouted, its voice booming and demanding. And annoyingly familiar, "SOON YOU WILL ALL BOW DOWN BEFORE ME-KAOS! K-A-O-S! KAOS!""Kaos. I might have know." Eon's gaze hardened into a glare, only for it to melt into a look of confusion," And.. what has happened to your head? It looks ridiculous.""HUH?!WHAT?!?!""Heh?! My head is awesome I tell you! Fear it! Fear my giant, floating head!"Deep inside the foreboding flying fortress lied a chamber, illuminated a deep crimson due the similarly colored portal and the stone walls adorned by orange eye decors.As it turned out, Kaos wasn't exactly as intimidating as his hologram would make him out to be. In fact, he turned out to be a bald and very short man with a face only a mother could love, given his fanged underbite and sickly pale skin. His eyes were as red as cherry blood with black, masklike marks around them, he had teal, triangular tattoos upon his forehead, and he wore a simple black robe.Currently, his face was in an disgruntled scowl as he glared with intense heat at the portal. How dare that old coot insult his very awesome, very evil head"See, sir, I told you the head isn't scary enough.." said a green, lanky troll dressed in a brown vest and tattered gray pants, glancing aside as he held up a stone tablet."SILENCE GLUMSHANKS!" Kaos screamed as his glare turned towards the troll, letting out a low growl," You're spoiling my evil mood."Glumshanks only response was just a simple sigh. It was better to just stay silent than prove any of Kaos' rather malignant wrath. To him any way.Meanwhile, Kao turned back towards his portal, a malevolent smirk growing on his lips.
"YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD BANISHED ME TO THE OUTLANDS?! I, KAOS, HAVE RETURNED TO DESTROY THE CORE OF LIGHT AND RULE SKYLANDS AS ITS EMPEROR!"
"That's what you said last week, Kaos. Not to mention the other forty nine times and that was only this month." Eon's gripped tightened on his staff, eyes harden with determination and concern as he made a gesture with his free hand," When will you learn you to just give up?""HMM,LET ME THINK..." At that, Kaos paused for a moment in mock thought before he smirked smugly at them, "NEVER! I'LL NEVER GIVE UP UNTIL ALL OF SKYLANDS IS MINE AND YOU ARE SO OLD AND WEAK AND PATHETIC NOW, EON, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!" Kaos topped of his evil gloating with an equally evil laugh."Even so, you and the Darkness have no power here." Eon exclaimed in a worn voice, as if he was tired of dealing with a rather persistent pest. Which was absolutely true.
"AH,IS THAT SO? WE'LL JUST SEE ABOUT THAT! MIN-O-ONS!"
As soon as Kaos made that exclamation, all around the front lawn of the island spawned hordes of creatures- from elves to trolls, and even cyclops. Eon's eyes slightly widen at just the sheer amount of enemies that were appearing- it looks like Kaos really means business this time if he brought this much of an army.Immediately at the sight of enemies, Eon whipped his head towards Hugo," Hugo, alert the Skylanders and take your station! Now!" He ordered with utmost urgency.Nodding in immediate obedience, Hugo ran back inside the citadel, pressing a button on a stand before he jumped into a nearby hidden hole that immediately covered itself afterwards.After making sure his assistant was now out of immediate danger, Eon turned back to glare at Kaos, his blue eyes shining with serious determination."If its a fight you want, Kaos, than its a fight you shall receive!" He exclaimed Now, not too far from the confrontation but far enough to not be able to witness it, two friends are seen sitting on a grassy ledge of a small floating island, watching birds in the sky as they tried to figure a way to assuage their boredom on a such a peaceful day."What should we do today?" Spyro askedGill Grunt shrugged as he replied, " We could go swimming?"" Nah, we went swimming yesterday" Spyro stated before his eyes lit up, "Oh! We can go to the lava pits!"Gill Grunt quickly shock his head at that suggestion, "My skin would shrivel out from all the heat.""Oh right...um, we could go fishing?" Spyro suggested with a grin before his face quickly fell in realization, with a look of slight embarrassment at his fumble. " Oh. Right, You're a fish so that would be weird. Sorry."Gill Grunt didn't reply. Rather, his eyes were glued on something in the sky, slightly widened as he blinked in shock at whatever he was looking at.Spyro eye's furrowed in confusion, reaching over to tap n his pal's back in question." Gill? Gill Grunt? Are you listening?"" Hey, Spyro..is it just me or are those clouds over there super suspicious?" The gillman replied, pointing out towards the sky. Spyro turned to look in question and took note of the strange dark clouds that were beginning to fill the clear sky."That's weird.. I don't remember any forecast about a storm.." Spyro replied in confusion, though his eyes did begin to narrow in suspicion as he scrutinized the clouds.Wait. Those clouds don't look.. normal...Before anyone could say anything else, the sounds of sirens blared to life all around the island, and the two of them glanced at one other with wide eyes and paling faces.That alert could only mean one thing and it was certainly not a good thing!"Oh no..""You don't think..?"" We gotta go!" Spyro exclaimed, grabbing Gill Grunt by his backpack and taking off in the sky. They had to get the Skylanders together!It only took them a few minutes, but Spyro and Gill Grunt had managed to arrive to their destination at a nearby portal hidden in a cave. Though what they saw on the way was definitely not good. Enemies were beginning to practically swarm the place! Thankfully, they had the advantage of being out of reach but that what was happening was really not good."This has Kaos written all over it..." Spyro muttered as jumped onto the portal. As soon as their feet touched the smooth white surface, it immediately activated, glowing a mixture of bright violet and deep blue as it flashed, teleporting them to a new location.They found themselves inside a blue, magical shield that surrounded the Core of Light, where all the other Skylanders were waiting, breaths bated in anticipation as mutters and whispers of confusion and worry filled the area. Spryo glanced up at the Core with a look of relief.'Good the Core is still safe...' He thought with a smile. If anything bad happened to the Core, he wasn't quiet sure what they'd do.Shaking his head, the purple dragon took to the air, soaring over the crowd until he was in front of the Core, turning to his comrades with a look of determination."Alright, Skylanders!" Spyro announced, voice clear and serious, the others falling silent as they looked towards the second in command, "Kaos is back to destroy the Core and take over Skylands!""Again?""Downer..""That guy owes me five dollahs!" "And are we just gonna let him?" Spyro inquired."NO WAY!!" The crowd shouted, arms raised in the air. A smirk grew on Spyro's lips as his eyes narrowed as confidence swelled in his heart."So what do you say we teach ol' big head a little lesson?" He said, and the rest let out cheers and battle cries as the barrier went down."FOR SKYLANDS!" The Skylanders cried as they made their way to battle. These guys thought they could invade and threaten their home? Over their dead bodies!This meant war!Spyro swooped over the crowd, doing a small loop as he swept down, charging a bright flame in his mouth before he blasted down through the army of enemies with bright flames. Down below on the ground, all Skylanders were making a head charge into battle, attacks flinging through the air and weapons' clashing sparks"Fear the fish!" Gill Grunt cried as he shot a giant harpoon that mowed down an entire platoon of trolls."Stump Smash, bring down the hammer!" Slam Bam shouted as he hurled a Cyclops from one of his cyclops filled fist. "Okie Dokie!" With a spin, Stump Smash well, smashed not just the cyclops but a few others as well, sending the Cyclops flying in the air...At least it would be, if a long tongue hadn't slipped around it and yanked it down, as a orange and white blur using the momentum to whizz by."Trigger Happy in your face!" The gremlin exclaimed with a grin before shooting down a massive Drow Warrior with golden bullets.'I'm goin' belly up!" Terrafin cried as he popped out of the ground, belly flopping onto a goblin with a resonating crack. "BOOM!"Above, Spyro was observing his comraded with a proud expression, a confident smirk on his face. Unbeknownst to him, a winged beast was flying up behind him, preparing to attack."Spyro! Look out!" With a gasp, the purple dragon whipped around just in time to volts of black lightning electrocute the beast out the sky. A moment later, a familiar black and red dragoness came up to him, which made him smile genuinely."Wow, thanks!" Spyro said, "How are things going, Cynder?"Cynder let out a light grunt, "Not good. Kaos is sending reinforcements and lots of them." " Then we'll fight twice as hard! We can't let anything happen to the Core!""Got it!" Cynder exclaimed before the two dragons jumped back into the air and back into the action.Inside the floating castle, Kaos observed the battle through his portal, a deep frown growing on his face as he noticed it was his army that was starting to fall in numbers, despite the fact that his side outnumbered those of the Skylanders."Okay, I've worked it out....we're losing." Glumshanks said as he turned his tablet towards Kaos, which displayed at tally between Kaos and Eon- and Eon's was so much higher it was almost embarrassing.No, wait..it was!Kaos let out a dark growl as he shot a glare at the troll. " I can see that, Glumshanks!""Maybe we should go to plan b. Or quit while were ahead. Either way.""No, Glumshanks. I have a much better idea!" Kaos magicked a remote with a big red button, a piece of tape on the remote titled Plan Z, "Initiate plan Z!" He exclaimed before he pressed the button.As the battle continued, Eon watched from his balcony, surveying the area with worried eyes. Not for the first time, he cursed his old age preventing him from being more than just an observer. It was true what Kaos had said earlier. In his prime had had been a very powerful Portal Master- heck, in his prime could've singlehandedly stopped Kaos from ever bothering Skylands again.But, now at his age, he couldn't do more than the most basic of spells and keep the Portal Network working. 'Oh, if only I was younger...' He lamented, looking down for a moment. However, when he looked up, he gasped as a giant shadow towered over the island as.. a beast of absolute evil emerged from Kaos' fortress.It was.. the most evil thing he had ever witness.. And it has its eyes set on the Core! Eon watched in horror as four large beams of magic from the creature aimed straight for the heart of the Core."Not the Core! No!" He cried in plea, hand in reach in a vain attempt to stop it. However, his pleas fell on deaf ears as the beast shot each of its beams at the Core.The Skylanders, at the sound of their Portal Master's cries, looked up from battle and in horror as the very thing thing they were trying to protect was about to be destroyed."Uh oh..""Not good!""No!" Spyro cried in a strained voice before he lunged before, trying to perhaps stop the beam in its track.But it was too late.The beam made contact and the Core blew up into bits, a magical explosion engulfing the entire island.Kaos' fortress was sent flying far away as the the Darkness engulfed the sky, the only thing keeping it back now gone.The SKylanders, who were in full range of the blast, were all knocked unconscious due to the surge of magical energy. As their visons blackened and their bodies fell to the ground, strange cages made of orange energy engulfed them. All of the sudden, the cages flung themselves in the air and out of Skylands, never to be seen again.And Eon, with no protection from the blast and watching with dread not only his home became engulfed in Darkness but his friends be banished from their world, felt only intense pain and his body was flung against the wall of the now destroyed citadel.His heart fell as the pain grew even more and a horrible realization hit him. They had lost.The Skylanders were gone and he was to soon follow, just not in the same way. Skylands would be left at the mercy of Kaos and all forces of evil.As his vison began to fade in what he was certain was to be the last, a last thought rang in his head, a single prayer that he wished with his remaining might would come true. 'Please let the Skylanders be okay …and please let there be someone to take my place.. Let there be a new Portal Master..'Hugo peered up from his hidey hole, eyes wide as he observed his surroundings.The once beautiful island was now full of ruin, with remnants of what was once the base of the Skylanders. And the smog..it was so full of evil it made his stomach drop with dread."M-master Eon? Anyone..?" He asked but no one came...
And that was the day the Core of Light was destroyed, its parts scattered to the far corner of the universe and the day Skylands lost its greatest protectors..
But.. there is more to their story..
