“Uh, boss, we’ve got some friends on our tail!” Youngja pulled her head back into the car, unsure of whether to close the window or leave it as it is.
“Ja, shut the window!” Yumi yelled at the older girl, grasping her (read: their) bag tighter and answering Youngja’s silent question.
“Wait,” came the real answer from the car’s front. Jaeeun, the group’s leader, turned around in her seat. “How many?”
Youngja peeked her head back out the window, feeling the wind nip at her face, blowing her golden hair everywhere. “Two ‘cycles and a car, tailing us but no siren yet.”
Jaeeun nodded. “Trade spots with Bam.”
Said girl looked up open hearing her name. “Trade spots?” Bambi blinked. Clearly, she’d not heard what was going on.
Jaeeun rolled her eyes, sitting back down and facing the front. “Get a gun too.”
Bambi shrugged, grabbing one of her many guns she’d decided to bring along. Youngja stood up (as best as she could in a car, anyway), allowing Bambi to slide to the window and stick her head out of it. Youngja settled between her and Yumi, who was still holding the bag protectively.
The car jerked unexpectedly to the left. Youngja grabbed the back of Bambi’s blouse, pulling her back into the car as everyone was tossed to the right. Bambi ended up more or less on top of Youngja, who was squashed up against Yumi.
“Get up, you big otter looking dork!” Yumi snapped at the older girl, pretending to gasp for air.
Younja held back a laugh at Yumi’s sharp tongue. “I would if Bamboo here wasn’t so heavy.”
“She’s like 5 pounds, now move!”
“Both of you shut up!” Jaeeun yelled from the front. “Bambi, get up. Younga, you too. Yumi, stop complaining. Mary, please calm down before they turn on the si-” Jaeeun was interrupted by the loud screeching of police sirens from behind them.
“Too late!” Youngja yelled, responding to Jaeeun’s earlier rant.
“We know.” Mary glanced back at her before focusing back on the road.
Jaeeun rolled her eyes. “Okay, change of plans. Bambi, Position B.” The girl responded by sticking her head out the window and preparing her gun from earlier to join her. Yumi unbuckled her seatbelt, ready to switch places with Youngja the second they received the order. Youngja looked up at their leader, who was watching the police from the rearview mirror. She couldn't help but admire the focused look in her eyes as she watched them trail down to where she and the two youngest were sitting.
“Yumi!” The sudden shout somewhat resembled the cracking of a whip, the harshness causing both the mentioned and Youngja to jump in their seats. “Zip the bag back up before you don't get any of the money.”
Yumi’s ears turned a dark shade of pink at being caught red-handed. She stuffed several bills back into the bag and began to zip it back up.
“Yumi,” Jaeeun’s voice had changed to a tone of warning. The youngest flushed into an even darker tone and emptied out her pockets, putting the rest of the money in the bag.
“Yumi, you're the same color as the bag.” Youngja couldn't help but tease.
Yumi zipped the rest of the bag up and put it beneath her feet. “Shut up,” She whined.
“Position B.” Jaeeun went back to facing the front. Youngja and Yumi switched spots, and Youngja rolled down the window. Yumi grabbed Bambi by the legs, who moved a bit farther out the window. Youngja peeked out her own window.
“Everyone ready?” Jaeeun asked.
Youngja gave a thumbs up. Yumi gave a quick “yep”.
“Okay, Mary, hit the gas.”
Youngja grasped tighter onto the window as the car shot off. Youngja watched as the police spend after them. She monitored the motorcycles, knowing Bambi would probably lose them. The two bikes were on either side of the police car. The one on her right (Bambi’s side) stayed in its position. The one on Youngja’s side, however, inched closer and closer to the car, likely taking advantage of the fact that she was unarmed. Or so they thought, at least. She grabbed the shotgun hidden in her dress and leaned back into the car. “‘Cycle coming up right. Jaeeun, permission to shoot?” She asked, her eyes not leaving the window.
“You’re good,” Jaeeun confirmed. Youngja smiled and pointed her shotgun at the frontal tire of the motorcycle, staying in the car. She shot, and leaned out the window to watch as the motorcycle skidded to a stop and appeared to fly back.
She wasn’t able to check the damage to its rider before she was pulled back into the car, just in time too. She heard to crack of a bullet leaving its home, and felt the car jerk left as the vehicle ahead skidded off the road. Yongja peeked back out the window to check the police car. The passenger side had an officer leaning out recklessly and reloading her gun. She saw the other motorcycle seem to explode and she pulled herself back inside in time to her Jaeeun finish up an order to Yumi, who pulled Bambi back in the car. “Roll up the windows.” Youngja assumed Yumi was repeating the orders, so she did so.
Bambi pouted, though she did as she was told. “But I wanted to blow them up!” She complained.
“Shut up, we’re ‘bouta lose ‘em.” Youngja looked up up Mary as she spoke. Her eyes looked downright scary as she peered through the rearview mirror, watching the car as it tailed them. Youngja moved her eyes to Yumi, who slid off the seat onto the floor. Remembering Mary’s words, Yumi grabbed the safety handle and braced herself.
Mary looked back at everyone. “Ready?”
Youngja and Yumi nodded. Bambi looked Mary in the eyes, and Youngja got ready for something stupid to be said. Bambi took a deep breath, and…
“Hit it Fergie.”
“ALLTHETIMEITURNAROUNDBROTHERSGATHERROUNDALWAYSLOOKINGATMEUPANDDOWNLOOKINATMY-ARGH!” Yumi’s ‘beautiful’ rendition of Fergalicious was stopped at the perfect time thanks to Mary, who sped up the car and swerved past several other vehicles, resulting in Yumi being thrown to the side. Youngja and Bambi laughed uncontrollably, before also moving to the floor for safety. Mary laughed a bit as well, and Youngja thought she’d seen Jaeeun give a fond smile. The car seemed to fly, easily beginning to outrun the police (according to Jaeeun, the youngest three couldn't see that as they were currently cramped in the space meant for feet and mysterious pennies). Yumi gave an “oh!” face of memory and grabbed the bag of money protectively. Youngja laughed. She loved her family.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Jinyoung, as per usual, had her head stuffed in a book. Jackie was perched on the same couch, with her head on Jinyoung’s lap. Jinyoung ignored her, obviously very immersed in her book. Perhaps that’s why she didn’t hear the door open and 5 noisy girls as they piled into the house. Jackie did notice, however, sitting up hurriedly, accidentally hitting her head on Jinyoung’s hardcover book.“OW!” Jackie’s shout pulled Jinyoung’s attention back to reality. She bookmarked her page and set down her book. “If you don’t want pain, then stop making sudden movements,” She scolded.“Everyone’s back,” Jackie informed her, ignoring the lecture. She nodded to the door where everyone was entering the living room. Jinyoung turned to the door. “Welcome home. How badly did Yumi mess up this time?”“Hey!” Yumi stuck her tongue out at Jinyoung, though the edges of her mouth were curved upward. Jaeeun sat next to Jinyoung on the couch, and in her peripheral vision, Jinyoung noticed Youngja and Bambi walk straight to the kitchen. She shook her head, smiling. “Get off the couch before it starts smelling like gunpowder.” Jaeeun rolled her eyes, but still complied, standing back up. Jaeeun was the leader, but even she could easily bend to the will of Park Jinyoung. Said girl simply smiled and picked back up her book. “So how’d it go?” Jackie asked. Jinyoung noticed she had gotten a cookie, probably from Youngja. Yumi hefted up a rather large bag, resting it on the sofa’s arm. She unzipped it to reveal a generous amount of paper dollars. She pulled out a handful of them and threw them up in the air. “Really Yumi?” Jaeeun asked, exasperated. “Sorry, sorry,” Yumi said, giggling. “I’ll pick it up.” She gave Jaeeun an innocent look. “Anyway, it went awesomely.” “Sure, if you ignore the police chase,” Jaeeun grumbled.Everyone turned to Mary as she cleared her throat. “Things went well. The police lost us.”“And,” Yumi added with a grin. “We got this.”She held up a necklace, one adorned with various pearls and marbled jewels. At the center of the piece of jewelry with a blue diamond, one encased in silver and surrounded by emeralds. The diamond shined even brighter than the mischievous gleam in Yumi’s eyes. Jinyoung smiled widely. She sat up on her knees. Her arm wrapped around Youngja, who was on the other side of the couch, and pulled her closer before giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Good job, you troublemakers.”“Why thank you, mother,” Bambam responded with a mouthful of cookie. Jinyoung rolled her eyes at the sight. She saw Jaeeun facepalm. “She isn’t your mother, that’d be weird.”“So we aren’t an Alabama family?” Bambam asked with a grin. Yumi immediately fell to the ground laughing.“No, you creep.” Jaeeun shook her head.Jinyoung smiled, amused as ever. “Pick up the money while you’re down there,” She said to Yumi right as the girl was standing up. She groaned, grumbling something under her breath about slave labor, though she knelt back down nonetheless. While Yumi was picking up the money, Jinyoung picked up the gloves Youngja had taken off. She put them both on her hands, smiling slightly at how they were just too big. She picked up the necklace, examining each jewel.“Beautiful,” She purred, smirking at the way the diamond glistened. “Absolutely beautiful.” Her reflection showed in the deep indigo of the diamond. “We’ve struck gold.”
“More like diamonds,” Jackie joked, though she looked just as mesmerized as Jinyoung.Mary groaned. “You’re not funny.” Jackie acted hurt, but Mary just turned to Jinyoung. “Is it legitimate?”“Seems to be, though I can’t be sure. I’ll have to look closer.”“You can do that tonight. Who’s cooking?” Jaeeun looked around at the six other girls. Immediately, all seven put their finger on their noses.“Bambi was slowest!” Yumi shouted.“So were you!” The Thai girl shouted back.“That doesn’t make any sense!”“YOU’RE BOTH COOKING!” Jaeeun’s voice overpowered them both. They both gave her pouty looks, but she just narrowed her eyes and turned to Jackie and Jinyoung, who were snickering. “And you two are supervising.”“But-”“No buts except yours in the kitchen, Jackie.”“Fine. That’s where snacks belong anyways,” Jackie grumbled, and the four sulked to the kitchen.“So, what we making?” Bambi asked the older two, already grabbing random cooking tools. The other girls shrugged. “Well,” Jinyoung began, thinking. “When I was at the grocery store there was a sale on chicken breast, so I got quite a lot of it.”“Dude. We’re rich. We’re literally standing in the main kitchen of a mansion.”“That’s no excuse not to take advantage of a sale,” Jinyoung began, about to lecture Jackie on the importance of budgeting and management. Before she could continue, Yumi interrupted her with a groan. “Jinyoungie, you’re so boringggg…” “I will beat your a-”“Alright, so I think we should make stir fry. What do you think, Jackie?” Bambi made an effort to protect Yumi from becoming a victim of ‘domestic violence’, as Yumi would call it, though Bambi’s mercy probably stemmed from her hunger. Jackie shrugged. “Works for me. And Jinyoung, put down the wooden spoon.”The mentioned girl put down the spoon with a slight hiss and a warning glance at Yumi. “Stir fry sounds good. Agreed, Yumi?” The girl gave the youngest a threatening smile.Yumi smiled in return, looking slightly terrified. “Of course!”Jinyoung gave everyone a smile in satisfaction, placing the spoon on the counter. “Well then, now that that’s settled, let’s get to cooking.”The girls started digging through the refrigerator and pantry, discussing what vegetables would go together. Jackie got the chicken from the freezer to defrost it, and Jinyoung heated up the stove. Yumi and Bambi soon got to work washing and chopping up the vegetables, and by the time they were done, the chicken was chopped up as well and on the stove cooking. Jinyoung grabbed a different skillet, fired up another burner, and got to grilling the vegetables. In only an hour, the four girls had succeeded in creating a seven-person meal, with enough food for possible leftovers (if Youngja didn’t eat them at night, of course). They filed out of the kitchen to alert the other three, only to find Jaeeun running around the house giving Youngja a piggyback ride. Following behind them was Mary, who was holding up her phone, probably as a camera. “Alright girls, you either sit down or starve,” Jinyoung threatened. Youngja gave Jaeeun a peck on the cheek and hopped off her back. “What’s for dinner?” She asked with a bright smile.“Stir fry,” Jackie responded, plopping down on a couch, resting her legs on the cushions. Jinyoung watched as Jaeeun lifted up the girl’s legs and threw them off the couch before sitting next to her. Jinyoung returned to the kitchen, Yumi following. She took seven plates from the cabinet. “Oh, are you trying to be helpful for once?” She teased the younger girl.Yumi pouted. “I’m helpful!” As if to prove a point, she took a plate and almost threw food on it. Jinyoung laughed and the two of them continued to plate the food.“Alright, let’s go feed everyone before they start whining.”As if on cue, a wail came from the main room. “Jingyoungieeee~! I’m hungry!”Yumi giggled and Jinyoung shook her head as they entered the room holding two plates each. “Can it, Jackie, or I’ll eat your portion as well,” Jinyoung responded, exasperated. She ignored the girl’s whines as she and Yumi passed out the plates. “Go ahead and sit down,” she said to the youngest. “I can finish up.”“Thank you!” Yumi said with a grin before snuggling in between Jaeeun and Bambi. Jinyoung could feel her heart swell at the sight and she returned to the kitchen to retrieve the final two plates. She hurried back to the group, handing Jackie a plate before sitting next to Mary on the loveseat, her own food still in her hands. Dinner was (somewhat) quiet as everyone turned their focus to the stir-fry in front of them. Jinyoung figured everyone (minus herself and Jackie, of course) was tired out from their earlier heist. Next to her, Mary let out a soft yawn, confirming her suspicions. She watched the rest of the girls as they ate and chatted.

Later in the night, after the gang had all retired to bed, Jinyoung remained awake, examining their treasure. Jaeeun had told her that she could do so in the morning under natural light, but Jinyoung had insisted on doing her test at night when her work wouldn’t be interrupted.“How’s it going?” Jinyoung nearly jumped out of her skin at the gang leader’s voice. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. I think I’m more anxious about this than I realized.”Jinyoung shook her head, forcefully pulling off her gloves. She turned her head to Jaeeun, vaguely aware of the anger in her eyes as she spoke. “It’s a fake.”
