Work Text
If you had asked Namjoon where he would be at 3 am that night he would have told you asleep. However the lovely people he shares his dorm building with decided it should be spent freezing outside. He had only gone to bed not three hours before when the alarm had gone off. He barely had enough time to grab his laptop, flash drive, and ID before his roommate had grabbed him to drag him out of the dorm. And now here he was standing out in the grass across from his dorm building--which mind you was not visibly on fire. He did find some solace to his anger that he doesn’t sleep in the nude. But his old white shirt and boxers barely keep him warm, making him feel like he almost was standing outside in the nude.So here he was, standing out in the cold, shivering as the fire alarm continued to blare into the almost peaceful silence of the night. He couldn’t even ask his roommate to text someone to ask if they could go to their dorm because his roommate had abandoned him to go to his girlfriend’s dorm, not even asking if Namjoon had somewhere to go to stay warm.As he was shaking, laptop clutched in his arms, he felt someone tap him on the shoulder. He turned around and froze at who he saw.Kim Seokjin was the RA for the floor above and a local campus legend. He was the son of one of the most famous and richest CEOs in the country and while he didn’t show his wealth, he was very generous to his friends and the various charities on campus. He was the one to bake most of the treats for the bake sales. But he was also insanely smart, he was a Business Major with a minor in culinary with top marks. (Not to mention this was the best business program in the country that is so elite you have to test into the program, usually, only 5% of applicants rank high enough to get in.) He is already predicted to be the Valedictorian of his class. Not to mention he was by far the hottest guy on campus. In all rankings of the eligible bachelors on campus, he was always ranked as number one. He was the guy all girls wished was their boyfriend. However, he wasn’t picky about who he dated, having been seen on dates with both males and female. And he didn’t seem to be picky about type either: tall or short, large or skinny, and hair color didn’t matter. He was Namjoon’s ideal guy wrapped in a very sexy, charming, and out-of-this-world-gorgeous bow. And he was now standing in front of Namjoon with an innocent look on his face and a blanket wrapped around his body.“You look cold,” Jin says as he shuffles his feet, tightening the blanket around him. “Would you like to share my blanket until we go back in? We could be out here for at least 30 minutes and I would hate to see you freeze.”Namjoon couldn’t believe this was actually happening. His crush was asking him to share his blanket, to literally cuddle him under the same blanket for at least 30 minutes. However Namjoon contemplated whether or not he should accept. On the one hand, he would be able to cuddle Jin but his chances of getting hard would be exponentially high and also really embarrassing. But Namjoon could feel his lip turning blue and his body going numb for the cold so he figured he can risk the boner if it meant he wouldn’t freeze to death. “If it isn’t too much a problem,” Namjoon chirped as Jin smiled.Jin held out his right arm so that there was an opening for Namjoon to slide into the blanket. And the minute he does the wind chill diminishes as he gets close to Jin, trying to heat up with the warmth Jin is giving off. They both decide it would be easier if they sat on the curb and sat as close to each other as possible.“So what floor are you on?” Jin asks once they get comfortable on the cold curb, sitting as close as physically possible.“I’m on the third floor,” Namjoon answered and he shivered a bit.“With Jackson as your RA, right?” Jin asked as he wrapped an arm tighter around Namjoon’s shoulder.“Yeah,” Namjoon answered.“How is he as an RA?” Jin questioned. “I have to write a review about him as a senior RA and I haven’t had time to talk to some of the people on his floor.”“He’s okay,” Namjoon replied honestly. “I don’t really need his help with anything so I don’t really talk with him. But I imagine he’s helpful because he is really friendly and openly says he’s willing to help anyone.”They lapsed into silence. It wasn’t really an uncomfortable silence but rather a calming one. Or as calming as one could be with a fire alarm still going off and the wind blowing a bit harder. Namjoon looked around and saw some of the girls from the dorm looking at him and Jin with jealousy in their eyes and some with a look of disgust. It made Namjoon feel self-conscious and he shifted a bit on the ground. “So I never got your name but mine is Kim Seokjin, but you can call me Jin” Jin introduced himself. “I’m a Junior Business major. And you are?”“I’m Kim Namjoon,” Namjoon introduced himself. “I’m a freshman Music Industry major.”“Which concentration are you thinking?” Jin asked, trying to keep the conversation going.“I plan on joining the Recording Arts & Music Production track,” Namjoon explained. “I plan on joining a music company as a producer and maybe releasing a mixtape.“Cool,” Jin said but suddenly the fire alarm cut-off, filling the air with silence once again.“Looks like the fire alarm is off,” Jin said as he separated himself from Namjoon. “I have to go help them get everyone back in the dorm but I’ll talk to you later Namjoon.”And with that Jin walked away. Namjoon stayed there on the curb in shock. Not only had he just shared a blanket with his crush and got to cuddle him but he also had an actual conversation with him. And he had said he would talk to Namjoon again. This may not have been how Namjoon imagined the night going but he was glad to see how it turned out.And Jin wasn’t kidding when he said they would talk again.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Two days later Namjoon was in one of the school’s dining facilities working on a project for his English class when someone had sat down in the seat across from his. He looked up to see Jin’s smiling face staring back at him.“Hello Namjoon,” Jin greeted him as he opened up his water bottle and took a sip. “How is your class work going?”“Good, Jin,” Namjoon answered as he closed his laptop so he could see Jin. “Working on my essay for English.”“I thought there weren’t any essays you had to write in English 102?” Jin questioned as he took another sip of water.“I’m in 103,” Namjoon explained. “I had AP credits transfer and I tested out of a lot of classes.”“So a genius then,” JIn smirked. “You surprise me, Namjoon.”
“Joon,” Namjoon suddenly interrupted. “You can call me Joon.”“Alright, Joon,” Jin said with almost a smug tone.“What are you eating?” Namjoon asked, gesturing to the food in front of Jin.“A salad, I believe,” Jin hummed as he held up the bowl the food was in.He picked up some of the lettuce form the salad and it limped in his hand.“Can that be considered a salad?” Namjoon questioned.“Well, it’s the only thing I can really eat right now so I guess it will have to be,” Jin explained. “And I think the addition of the other toppings might mask the sadness of the lettuce.”Namjoon nodded before opening up his laptop to continue on his essay. He was really into his writing when he suddenly heard a moan. He looked up and saw a blissed-out expression on Jin’s face.“Are you okay?” Namjoon questioned as he looked at Jin, a worried expression on his face.“Yeah,” Jin replied as he took another bite of his salad, a second moan coming out. “The lettuce may be sad but the corn is seasoned just right and masks the lettuce.”Namjoon just nodded like he understood before he turned back to his essay. He made the decision to plug in his headphones after Jin moaned for a third time, trying to maintain some semblance of focus on his essay. He opened a lecture from his Introduction to Music professor, to try and kill two birds with one stone. And this joining each other at the dining halls wasn’t just a one-off occurrence, it continued on for many weeks. Whenever either of them saw the other sitting alone in the dining hall they would join the other. And it wasn’t just limited to the dining hall but sometimes the library and the dorm common room. And as the weeks continued Namjoon’s crush only grew deeper. As he learned more about Jin’s personality and quirks he fell more in love with the man, and it was getting harder to hide his infatuation from the other. Jin on multiple occasions had caught him staring at him and Namjoon was running out of excuses for why he was staring. There was only so many times he could claim he saw something before it would stop working. It was currently the last day of finals and Namjoon had just gotten out of his last final. While he had studied hard he was still second-guessing himself on things he was sure he knew and was unsure if he had passed his final. As he was walking out of the auditorium and turning on his phone to text Jin he saw the man in question sitting at one of the tables outside, two cups of coffee in front of him.“Hey,” Namjoon greets Jin as he grabs the coffee labeled Joonie and sits across from Jin.“How was your final?” Jin questioned once Namjoon was situated in his seat.“Well, I’m not sure I passed,” Namjoon admitted as he leaned back in his chair, defeated, and tilts his head back to let the sun hit his face.“Given how much I helped you study I can’t accept you didn’t pass,” Jin says. He begins to say something else but trails off. Namjoon looks up to see Jin staring at him with a weird expression on his face, one Namjoon can’t name.“What?” Namjoon asks, bring a hand up to rub against his face. “Do I have ink on me or something? I’m sure I never touched my neck with my pen but you’d tell me, right? I mean..”“Joon,” Jin interrupted him. “You just looked really cute.”Namjoon blushed at Jin’s statement and looked down at his coffee cup.“Do you really think I’m cute, Jin?” Namjoon questioned, still staring at his coffee cup. He lacked the courage to look at Jin in the face.“Of course, Joonie,” Jin said as he leaned forward and grabbed one of Namjoon’s hands, pulling it away from the coffee cup.“Don’t tease, Jin,” Namjoon said as he tried to pull his hand back but Jin just gripped it tighter. “I wouldn’t tease you, Namjoon,” He says as he reaches forward with his other hand and lifts Namjoons head so they are looking each other in the eye.“How do you feel about me, Jin?” Namjoon questions in a quiet voice. He was so confused and he needed to know how the elder felt about him. He needed to know if Jin was really flirting with him and if he wasn’t then Namjoon could spend all of Spring Break getting over his crush.“For someone with that high of an I.Q., you really are clueless,” Jin says before gripping the back of Namjoon’s neck and kissing him.Namjoon froze and he could have sworn the moment their lips touched there were angels signing. He took a few seconds before he realized he should react. And so he closed his eyes and leaned more into the kiss. He reached out with his other hand and grabbed Jin by the waist and tried to pull him closer. They finally broke apart after a few seconds, both wearing content smiles on their faces. “So I take it you like me?” Namjoon asks, a smirk on his face.“Idiot,” Jin whispers as he drags Namjoon back into the kiss. This time Namjoon was prepared and moved forward in his seat so that he was closer, slowly licking into Jin’s mouth. And when they break apart for the second time it was because of Namjoon pulling back.“Are you doing anything over Spring Break?” Namjoon breathes out, out of breath from the kiss.“I’ll be in the dorm all week,” Jin answers as he pulls back from Namjoon, fixing Namjoon’s hair.“Care to join me for a coffee date tomorrow?” Namjoon asks as he stands up from the chair.“Thought you’d never ask,” Jin smiles. And so on the Friday of Spring Break, Namjoon was woken up again at 3 am to the fire alarm blaring again. This time he is less panicked and more calm as he grabs his laptop and flash drive from the desk.He looks over at and sees Jin grabbing his backpack and a blanket from his bed. Jin calmly grabs Namjoon’s hand as they walk out of the dorm.Once outside of the dorm they find themselves standing in the same place they were so many weeks ago.“Would you like to share my blanket till we have to go back inside?” Jins asks, a small smirk on his face.Namjoon smirks back as he sneaks under the blanket and kisses Jin’s cheek before they sit back down on the curb and wait till they can go back inside.
