This fanfic was started 3 years ago but I took a hiatus and now I am back. I do not own the Diabolik Lovers characters or franchise. That is the property of Rejet. However, the story is my own it's just the universe. I try to keep the characters true to my interpretation but it is not canon. The main OC and The eldest brother Otto are my own creations. I have taken many liberties in order to make something that isn't a tepid replay of the game or the anime. It is a story about vampires and demons doing things so this story ramps up to 18+ so be warned. I have used the anime and the first two games as a primer for this story.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Otto looked out the limo window as they traveled to see his brother, Karlheinz. He had received a summons to come immediately, which wasn't a surprise. His brother had also invited his ward, Sidra, to come and play her violin for him and his nephews.  Otto knew there was more to it but didn’t want to worry her. The truth would be out soon enough .Sidra was sleeping, snuggled up against Otto, her chestnut brown hair flowing over his right shoulder. She has become an adult so quickly, he mused. It seems that only yesterday I promised your parents to take care of you until you could find your way in the world. Now here you are, an adult and no stronger than when you were a child. How can I forgive myself for not allowing you to come into your power?***Sidra's POV***I was so happy to be spending time with Otto. It was so nice to take in his scent as I snuggled with him. He smelled like the forest, with evergreens and clean air. Since my 16th birthday, he had been away on business trips or locked himself up in his studio. My moms told me to just give him some space. I couldn’t understand, we had been so close all my life. We were each other’s worlds. How could he just leave me? Of course, my moms were there so I wasn't lonely. There was just something missing. He added light wherever he went. He was not like the old stories you hear about vampires. He only took blood to those that offered. Normally, he would feed off his many human brides. Otto allowed his brides the option of leaving when they wanted. If they did, he would give her enough money to live comfortably for the rest of her life. Of course, he would also erase her memories just to be safe.My moms were ages 35 to 72. As you can imagine, with 5 moms and a vampire “dad” life was far from boring. When Otto told me that we were going to Japan to stay with his brother and his nephews for a while I was in shock. He never told me that he had blood relatives. I guess since I just turned 18 it was time to meet his family? I was his ward so would they accept me?   Otto shook me and gently whispered that it was time to wake up. I looked into his light lavender eyes. I could not help but giggle as I felt the sensation of his red hair caressing my face.  "Waking you up was easier than I thought " he teased. He started to run his fingers through my hair, sending chills throughout my body. "It has been a long trip, do you mind if I drink from you?" He was right, it had been a long flight. "Of course Otto, I don't want you to get hangry." We both laughed for a moment.  It is customary for humans who enter a new vampire's home to set boundaries early or they will end up as food or a toy. Any skin that the human shows can be taken as an invitation. As a result, Otto had me wearing a full leather top, long flowing peasant skirt, gloves and boots. Of course, the fact that it covered my scars was an added plus for me. "I need help with the zipper" My skin prickled as I could feel the cool air on my skin as he slowly unzipped my top to reach the back of my shoulder. As he drew me to his lap I could feel his breath running over my skin towards my neck. I had fed him before when I was younger but the sensations I was feeling now were strange. His scent was flooding my senses, his lips kissed my neck as he moved to the back of my shoulder filling me with desire. My head began to swim as the emotions that I have held for Otto were changing in such a drastic way I was speechless.  He grabbed my hips, slowly tracing his fingers up my body he stopped halfway and placed his chin on my shoulder. "I am sorry, I have no right to do this " I laced my fingers through his, encouraging him to continue. Otto moved his hands to my breasts and gently bit me on the shoulder.  We began to groan in unison, he dug his fangs deeper. Then euphoria began to take over. My body began to grind against him. Otto stopped for a moment and I heard growling in my ear he was holding back his primal urge to mark me as his.  Luckily the universe intervened and the limo intercom turned on. "Excuse me, we will be reaching the mansion in about 30 minutes. Waters are located in the refrigerator. Please help yourself, they should be nice and cold."He licked my wound until it was healed. We sat there frozen in time for a brief moment. After an awkward silence Otto quietly zipped up my top and I pulled out two bottles. We opened them and took a drink in unison.   “Mmmm this is some great water huh Otto?” The moment I said that I wish I could take it back. The whole thing felt awkward and I was starting to get embarrassed. We had cross a line that may change us forever. Otto wrapped his arms around me and hugged me. I felt instantly safe and secure. “The taste is etched into my memory” he said tenderly.  I knew in my heart he wasn't talking about the water.Otto tensed as we drove through the gates of the castle. The castle looked like a place an evil magician would live. Luckily I had my knight to protect me. We stepped out of the limo and I double-checked herself to make sure everything was in place, from my long brown hair to my gloves to make sure everything was in place.Otto was a mess as usual. His curly red hair was disheveled and his tie was askew. I tried in vain to control his mop with my fingers and straighten his tie. He stood about a foot taller than me so he had to lean down to make the process easier. I grabbed my violin and we headed to the door. The mansion door opened before we could even knock. "A word of warning, the royals tend to be overdramatic." He gave me a wink, grabbed my hand and guided me through the entrance. The smell of blood permeated the air, making me nauseous. But I put on my best poker face, I could not afford to show weakness. I began to feel pressure around my body, I remained calm. Someone was making their presence known.
Looks like the vampire games have started....
Suddenly, the sensation went away and I could hear someone on the stairwell. A figure emerged from the shadows. I saw an attractive man, gracefully ascending the stairs. Light played on his golden eyes, making them sparkle. His platinum hair complemented his pale skin. He was wearing a well-tailored suit. To his side was a girl with blond hair and pink eyes.  I couldn't help but notice he looked like Otto.... I was dazzled by his appearance and spaced out for a moment.  Otto pinched me to bring me back to earth "And this is my ward Sidra"
Oh shit....did they notice I spaced out?
I bowed just the way I was shown in etiquette class, "It is a pleasure to meet you...." Karlheinz interrupted me on the spot. "Oh please, let's not be formal call me.... Uncle" I was relieved that he was comfortable enough with me to call him in a familial way. "Well, you are more than welcome to use my nickname Sid" He smiled and nodded and turned to the young girl beside him. "Yui, can you show her the sunroom? I will have some tea sent momentarily." Yui flashed an infectious grin “Sure, come on Sid let's go!" I hugged my violin case close to me and tried to keep up with her fast pace. The room was breathtaking..it was the polar opposite of the dark and damp entrance of the castle. The windows showed a beautiful display of white roses. In the back, I could see a dense forest with purple climbing roses clinging to the trees and up through the branches.   Even though it was late afternoon I was so tired. I just wanted a hot bath and sleep. All a sudden I heard a man clearing his throat. I turned to see a vampire setting down a large tray of tea and sandwiches. He had a dignified presence and moved with grace.  He was just as captivating as 'uncle' His black hair with shimmering purple highlights, his elegant demeanor, his riveting red eyes...
Ok, I got to stop and concentrate try not to stare so much.
"Greetings Ms. Azas I have personally brought you some tea. You should feel honored I went to the trouble."  He said casually and sat down and motioned Yui to pour the tea.
What a fucking asshole. How does he know my family name?
"I suppose you are wondering how I know your real family's surname. Perhaps it is time to have a private chat" I looked over at Yui and her hands were shaking so hard she spilled the tea.
This does not look good...

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Shu stormed into his room. He slammed his bedroom door and grimaced.
That bitch should have been killed by hunters.  But no, my dearest uncle Otto took it upon himself to protect her all these years.  She ruined Edgar’s fucking life and I will not have her do the same to anyone else. I will kill her before that happens...and I will do it with my own two hands.
When Sid arrived that night, he looked at her closely. Sid’s true self was not hidden behind a human veneer, it wasn’t there at all. She smelled human.
How could this be?  What has Uncle Otto done?
As he looked at her from afar, he could not help but think about all the fun he had with Sid and Edgar.  They made quite a bizarre trio. Edgar, the human was brash but sensitive. Sidra, of the dark fey clan, was cunning as she was beautiful.  And him, the lonely vampire who envied their freedom.Thoughts of revenge filled his head along with painful memories. The night she granted Edgar’s wish...Sid sitting next to Edgar, his head resting against her chest, and whispering in his ear…...    Edgar’s voice asking “Who are you?” haunting his thoughts. ********Miles away, the sun began to shine on a large young man weeding his garden. His face was dirty from trying to keep his brown hair out of his eyes.

Man, this is the part of gardening that sucks ass! I just need to compel some sweet young thing into helping me out.

Yuma’s face brightens at the thought of the things he would do to “reward” her.

Normally, he would be in bed asleep. But lately, he has been restless. A few days ago something seemed to be brewing in the air. Things that seemed like memories kept assaulting him. He felt hungry, but nothing quenched his thirst. He couldn't even enjoy his sugar cubes. So he was trying to keep his mind busy with gardening.

Kou crept up to Yuma on his toes, ready to grab his shoulder. Unfortunately, he found himself in a headlock and received noogies. “Hey! How did you know I was behind you?” Yuma released Kou and stared down at him.

“You smell like your groupies, bubblegum lip gloss and cheap perfume. You may want to take a shower before you hit the hay”

Kou looked up at his brother. “Speaking of which, when are you going to sleep? You have been more active than usual. You must be exhausted. Sometimes talking about things can help.”
Yuma takes a deep breath briefly looking down to the ground. “What did you do to sleep when you had those dreams?”

Kou looked at Yuma, it was clear he wasn’t going to tell him anything. “You mean about the past? Are your memories coming back?”
“Enough of the third degree...what did you do?” Yuma bellowed.

Kou closed his eyes and shook his head. “Boss taught me how to make a herbal tea for just such occasion. You have all the ingredients in your garden over there.” He pointed to Yuma’s herb garden.
Yuma smiled, his deep brown eyes began to sparkle. “Great, let’s go!”

As they strolled down the garden path, Yuma smiled mischievously “Hey Kou, you think you could help me with my weed situation?”
Kou shook his head “Are you joking? That’s the most suck ass part of gardening. Why don’t you get yourself a girlfriend” They looked at each and laughed as they headed to pick some herbs.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Otto never liked the office, it made him feel claustrophobic. Karlheinz stared at his older brother. The throne was his, the world of the humans practical given to him. But he wanted to be 'free'. Our father was weak and sired two weak sons. Otto has defied me, and for that he deserves a harsh punishment. Otto was lackadaisically lounging on the couch, playing with his red hair, every time that Karlheinz saw Otto it was as though he was looking at Laito. Karlheinz began, "So, how is the 'father of lies' fairing these days?" Otto countered, "Please let's not be so formal. You can call me brother, we are brothers yes?" Karlheinz knew that Otto would have a pithy reply handy. "So it appears that you broke a promise we had between the family and the Fey. What do you have to say for yourself..?" Otto argued, "Well brother as far as the family, you have had quite some time to resolve it. Our deal with the fey...hmmmm....well I don't think you read the fine print of the deal...oh wait, you can't read it can you?"Karlheinz was trying very hard not to lose his composure. The Fey loved Otto, to the point the rulers of their realm treated him like their own son. Otto continued, "The Fey fully understood me not wanting to be the ruler of the humans, nor the vampires for that matter. Our family was still given reign over the realm of humans before closing the veil. I am not sure when I deceived anyone.." Karlheinz slammed his fist against his desk. "You know damn well what you did. Did you forget that Sidra is the family's property? You were to give her back once she grew into her powers...that should have happened decades ago. What walked through that door was a young woman that smelled like a human.  How did you do it hmm?"  Karlheinz took a deep breath to calm himself down.  Otto shared the least amount of information he could, "Her parents put her in that human shell and sealed her powers before they died. The only reason that she is here is I am dying and unable to keep my magic on her.  As you can imagine she will need protection.  Karlheinz throws his head back in laughter and then looked at his dying brother.  "For a price, I promise I will treat her as my own".********Sid looked at Yui trying to figure this situation.  Yui wasted no time and grabbed Sid by the hand.  “We gotta run!” she yelled and stumbled through the hallways as fast she could, dragging Sid behind, nervously apologizing as they reach the main door.  "Sorry about that, I was trying not to run into any of the brothers. They generally go nuts when a new girl comes here." The girls ran through the well-maintained grounds until they reached their destination. Sid's family was not one to go church, but she recognized it as she saw the pews and the altar. She sat down as she watched Yui pray. Yui seemed to relax, the stress she was under seemed to dissipate with every moment.Yui's contentment was short-lived as she felt her heart beating faster and intense pain shot through her chest. Sid ran to her side to prop her up. "Yui, is something wrong with your heart? Is it your transplant?" Yui looked Sid on the eyes scared and confused "What are you talking about?".                            Sid rests Yui on the floor, takes off her jacket and puts it under Yui's head. I don't know if I can physically do CPR on her by myself.  She searched Yui for any containers of nitroglycerin and came up empty-handed. No aspirin in my purse. I have got to keep calm. She is still awake and breathing. Once she gets to where she can walk I ...Sid's eyes were drawn back to Yui's chest. She was able to see Yui's heart! Revolving around her heart were words that she could almost read, but they were not in English or Japanese. Great, I am seeing things again. Once we get inside I need to take my meds. Sid put her ear against Yui's chest to listen to her heartbeat. As time past, Sid fell victim to jet-lag and slowly started to fall asleep. Thanks for reading.
So this was cool to listen to while writing.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Sid was awoken by the feeling of soft lips on hers.  She saw blonde hair out of her peripheral vision. Sid smelled Yui’s perfume.  "Yui?  What are you..”  she was silenced as Yui hungrily kissed her.  A voice that chilled Sid to the bone whispered into her ear.  “I had no idea that you were alive...Oh the fun we will have together once you come to your senses.  Sid felt claws gently trailing down the side of her face.“Together you and I can make everyone our slaves…”  more claws slowly trailed up her thighs, slowly creeping to undo her pants.  There was a sensation of a cold hand snaking down to her core.  One sharp fingernail raked her over her underwear.   Sid felt dizzy, they were still kissing each other passionately, their tongues intertwined.  Why is this happening?  Is this Yui?  Why do I feel so drawn to her?  A single male voice boomed throughout the church and she stopped in an instant. “Mistress Cordelia, that isn’t Lilly. Please get some rest, you must treat that body well.  Cordelia gave him a pouty face and then looks back at Sid. “But Richter,  I just want to have some fun...hmmmm. Cordelia showed no sign of stopping as she began to push past the thin fabric of Sid’s panties ... Richter interrupted “I am afraid I must insist, for your own good my darling.”  Cordelia realized that she was not going to get her way and sulked off, wearing Yuki’s body as she pleased.  Sid quickly started to gave a sigh of relief. Was this woman one of her mother’s lovers?  She couldn’t stop blushing and began to make sure her clothing was fixed. Richter walked up to her and helped her stand.  He then took her hand and kissed it gently.  “Welcome home Sidra...I am Otto’s youngest brother, Richter.”  He snaked his arm around her waist and led her outside.  “We need to talk dear niece. May I take you somewhere private?”.  Sid smirked,  “Do I have a choice?”  Richter looked down at her and flashed a wicked smile. “Not really, so we must be quick before they catch on.” Richter held on to her tight and they disappeared into the foggy night.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Sidra was startled by a pop coming from a roaring fire. She was sitting in an armchair next to a crackling fireplace. Seated across from her was a statuesque man with long dark hair.   This was the first time she had seen Richter in the light.

Otto should have given me a scorecard with all his brother’s names.

Sidra pretended to look at the fire as Richer looks at her.  “You look so much like your mother. Of course, I can see your father as well...what a pity.”

Sidra looked at him, crossing her legs and arms she continues, “I would love to hear about them”

Richter, mirroring her movements feigned contemplation.  “First thing I need to do is to verify your identity. I am assuming that the absurd amount of clothing you have on  is hiding scars?”

Sidra nodded.

This is so embarrassing…..Well, I guess he is family right?

“Very well all I need you to do is take off your clothes and I will be able to identify some of them.”  Sidra gave him a go to hell look, he sighs and rubs his forehead.  “ Look if I had wanted
that
it would have happened already.  You can leave your undergarments on, time is of the essence so hurry.”

Sidra stands up and awkwardly removes her clothing down to her black bra and panties.  Her entire body is riddled with elaborate scars from her collarbone to her feet. Richter walks over and gently moves her body around to investigate. He can’t help but find amusement in her unease.

As he gets to her back his smiles and starts to gently trace his fingers over the scar between her shoulder blades. She feels his breath on her neck as he whispers..”You feel this one?  This proves that your bloodline is indentured to the house of Sakamaki”

Sidra immediately turns around and starts to back up away from Richter.  “The hell it does!  There is no way, Otto has been my guardian and I can assure you that I was not his slave”

“No, my brother has some twisted feelings when it comes to you.  But I can assure you of this.  Your mother was our servant until she brought shame on this house and was forced to leave.”  Richter tried not to show emotion.  He was still very conflicted about that situation.

“Anyway, Otto should tell you the story as it was his choice.  But for now, I need to test something out.” for every step he takes towards her, she takes a few more back which infuriates him. “Ok, I am bored with this
COME HERE!”

Before she knew it she was slowly inching to him.  She didn’t want to but she couldn’t stop.  He pulled her up till she was eye level to him.  Her feet dangling at his knees.  “Good girl, now be still so I don’t drop you.”

She was still under some sort of physical compulsion.  Her mind was going 90 miles a minute. He sets down on one of the armchairs making her straddle his lap.  He quickly steals a slow kiss, sucking on her bottom lip as he pulls away.

“Hmmm your lips taste just like your mother’s.  I can see why Cordelia got upset when I asked her to leave.” He returned to her lips for deeper passionate kisses.

Sidra started to moan, stroking the fires of his passion  “Anymore and I don’t think I will be able to control myself.  But I can’t help but test something else before I escort you back to my nephews.”

With that starts kissing her neck, trailing kissed down to her breasts.  Her back arched just as he deeply bit her left breast.  She was in pain for just a moment then started feeling feverish all over.  As he drunk she found herself groaning.  He let out a sigh of contentment as he removed his fangs and licked her wound until it had healed. He pulled her back straight and looked her in the eyes “Yes, so much alike.”

Karlheinz sat invisible in the corner of Richter’s sitting area.  He had promised Otto he would watch over her.  He was on their heels by the time the familiars declared her missing.

He could see the whole display.  At first, he enjoyed the interplay with Richter and Sidra.  But the further it got he began to feel an emotion he had not felt in centuries, jealousy.

Why am I jealous?   Regardless of who her father was, she is only one step above a familiar.  She is a potential test subject, nothing else.  A full moon is coming soon so maybe my vampire instincts are peeking through?  Well, I can’t have these two getting any closer.  It may degrade my data.

He removed the magic barrier and once he cleared his throat he saw two sets of eyes looking at him.  Sidra’s face blushed bright red as she jumped away from Richter and   immediately ran into another room with her clothing

Karlheinz sat in the vacant armchair across from Richter.  They start to have a discussion in hushed tones to prevent Sidra from hearing them “I am taking her back to the manor.  Otto has named me her protector so I would appreciate not kidnapping her again”

Richter smirked at his older brother “She seemed to be having a good time.  You never have understood the complexity of women.”

Karlheinz rolled his eyes and stood up.  “What I saw was a weak little girl that you compelled.”

Richter moved his focus to tend the fire as if to dismiss his older brother.  “You forget she belongs to everyone.  She has the brands to prove it.  I will honor your request and visit her at the mansion as I see fit. She promises to make stimulating company.  I know Cordelia was excited to see her. Oh wait, it’s Yui now huh?”

With that being said Karlheinz calls for Sidra.  She stands beside him, her face still flushed.  He places his cloak around her. “It is time to come to the mansion so you can get some rest. You have had an eventful day.  Be a good girl and thank your host.”

Sidra’s eyes widened. Richter gives her a mischievous smile and walks over to her and pats her head.  “Poor thing, she is too worn out to speak.  I will come to visit you soon my darling niece. Make sure to be wary of the Princes.  They tend to break their toys.”

Karlheinz scowls at his young brother and wraps his arms protectively around Sidra.  They disappeared in a flash leaving Richter alone with his plan.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Otto dragged his feet as one of the house spirits guided him to his room. His brother had found the perfect room for Otto’s current situation.  It was quiet and most importantly far away from his nephew’s ‘games’.  At one point he was amused by them.  But now they sometimes behaved like feral tomcats.  “Sir, I shall bring your meal to you momentarily.  Do you have any requests?”Otto sunk into his bed and thought for a moment. “Bring someone that won’t be missed”*******Reiji sat in his study mulling over the days events.  His brief meeting with Sid was both irritating and invigorating.  He hadn’t seen her since they were kids.  But today he had met a watered-down version of the rambunctious spirited child that used to run through the castle in search of mischief.  What has Otto done to her? Reiji’s reverie was interrupted as the front door slammed closed.  Reiji made his way to the stairs to find his father talking to one of the servant spirits.  “We need to get her to the bath right away.” The servant nodded and took her from Karlheinz’s arms.  They both watched as she was taken upstairs. Karlheinz turned to Reiji “I am afraid that Richter may have put her into shock so I need you to watch over her in my sted.  I have some business to attend to.  Otto is no longer in any condition to help her with her transition.”  Reiji puffed up with pride to be asked to do something so important.  “Yes, of course, father, when do you think you will be able to return?”  Karlheinz thought a moment “I shall return in time for our monthly family dinner.”  Reiji nodded.  Karlheinz continued “You may want to go talk Otto in regards to her condition once you have her settled for the night.”  Reiji nodded again and turned to go help Sidra.*****It had been a long since Shu had problems sleeping. Yet, here he was, staring at the ceiling. No naps, dozes or resting of eyes.  He had just eaten and should be off to his happy place. But no, he was in bed wide awake.A girl was lying next to him. She was the prettiest of the bunch that had been brought in. Unfortunately, she was a cuddler and was not giving Shu his space.  Thoughts of Sid filled his mind. Will she transition before someone kills her?  She seemed quite sickly when he saw that man bring her inside. He turned the young girl over and climbed on top of her so that he could take in her beauty. She had been disarmed by his good looks and turned into a mindless slave who wanted nothing more than to please him. He looked at his handy work. Her body was riddled with teeth and claw marks that still continued to bleed. A look of sheer bliss on her face was proof of his ability to take her mind to another place. She felt no fear or pain.  All he could see was Sidra underneath him, her childlike face haunting him.He felt so conflicted. He wanted to protect her and yet the urge to give her a painful death lingered like a deadly specter. He knew Sid must be in her own room by now, sleeping comfortably without a care in the world. A mischievous grin played on his face as he began to slowly removed the charms he had placed on his prey. Pain and the fear of death danced around the room, feeding Shu's darker thirsts. He violently drank the blood that remained in the nameless girl’s body. Making sure her screams echoed throughout the halls of the mansion. After he was done he threw her off the bed so hard she hit the door. Maybe I will sleep now that I have let off some steam.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Squeals of joy could be heard through the halls of the castle as Sidra ran to ‘escape the clutches of her pursuers’. Sidra took a sharp left and tumbled as close to the wall as she could. Sidra had been living at the castle from the time she was born and now at 10, she could give them a run for their money. Elves and Vampires were equally matched in many ways. She could hear them creeping closer and closer. She tensed more and more as they came towards her hiding spot. Suddenly a hand clamped over her mouth and she screamed, violently jerking in order to escape. She bit down and was freed from the hands of the amused vampire behind her. “So out of the frying pan huh Sid”. Sidra turned to see that Shu was behind her. His face was red from laughing. The triplets came up from the front. “Oh no!” shouted Ayato, “She is my prey”. Lato and Kanato were not far behind and nodded behind their brother as they were trying to catch their breaths from the pursuit. Shu laughed and pulled Sid close to him from behind. “No, she is mine, I caught her first” Shu said calmly with confidence.Ayato was obviously perturbed “You cheated..” Ayato started. Laito interrupted “No brother he took the opportunity. Shu has probably been stalking us the whole time.” Shu nodded in agreement then hoisted a wiggling squealing Sidra over his shoulder. “See you guys later!” Then he left the triplets behind. Laito seemed amused while the other two brothers were fuming. "Now now dear brothers there will be another chance.."“Put me down NOW!” Sidra yelled. She did not understand the brothers. Lately, their games seemed to go too far. “Be still and I will..” Shu teased. To her surprise, he put her down.He looked her over from her tousled dark locks to her dirty, scuffed feet. He grabbed her chin so that she could only see him. “How many times have you been told not to run about bleeding?” he chided. Sidra definitely stood on her tiptoes getting as eye to eye as her small stature would allow. “Its not my fault this time, the triplets..” Shu interrupted “I don’t want to hear this. You are smarter than they are and you should have led the chase to were you wanted”. Sid brought her hands to her face and broke down. “I wanted to go outside. I didn’t go into the woods.” “I just wanted to get some fresh air in my lungs Shu.” He could see the truth in her words.Because of Sidras status, she was rarely allowed outside. The dark elves were a matrilineal society and that meant Sidra was next in line for her mother’s title. Shu understood Sidras situation more than most. The pressure, the expectations were hard to bear sometimes.Sidra’s mother's voice boomed through the halls “Sid-----draaaaaa!”. Its time for your lessons.” Lilith's height rivaled any of the older vampires with the strength to match. But normally she was able to disarm her opponent through her great beauty and quick wit. Lilith focused her iridescent eyes on the youngsters in her path. Sidra tried to make herself as small as she could but her mother, Lillith was a very adept hunter. “Sid I can smell you over there with Shu. Please come here" Liliths smile lit the room..." your father is waiting for you." Sidra’s eyes lit up with the news and ran to her mother’s side.Lilith patted her head “If only you would be as excited for our lessons…” Lilith pouted. Sidra tried to placate her mother “Oh mom..I love the time we have but dad is hardly ever here.” Lilith turned her attention to Shu. “Thank you for keeping an eye on this little bag of crazy” Lilith said as she affectionately twirled her fingers in Sidra’s hair. “Of course I would expect no less from you.” she gave him a slight jab to the shoulder and paused to commit this moment to memory.. She lovingly placed her hand on the same shoulder. “Your father wants to see you Shu in his study you better run along, he isn’t as patient as Samual. Shu nodded and after giving Sidra a cursory kiss on the hand headed directly to his father’s study. Lilith lovingly took her daughter’s hand and took her daughter off to learn about her fate.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Sidra rarely visited her father in his office.  So even her young mind was alerted to the gravity of what was going to be discussed.Samuel’s office was welcoming and simple.  It was shining and white with gold accents.  Bookcases lined against the walls were a stark contrast with its mixture of various colors and one could also see cases that held very old scrolls. He was as fair as the office.  Being a light fae some would say he glowed and sparkled.  His long white hair was pulled back indicating he was hard at work doing research. He was a stark contrast to Lilith’s dark fae features. Still, they complemented each other not just physically but their personalities balanced each other.  While Samuel was logical and sometimes cold Lillith was warm, caring, and very much a dreamer. Lilith was a strong warrior when she needed to be.  Samuel had a tendency to be cold and aloof. His expertise was research, everything from ancient history to science.  However, he always treated his daughter and wife with great care and love.Sidra was dwarfed by the large chair she sat in.  Her legs dangling, unable to touch the floor.  She was moving her legs back and forth, unable to sit still.Samuel got straight to the point. “Sidra, can you tell me what is your role within the Sakamaki household?”Sindra stopped her fiddling, “I am to make them happy and one day I will take over mom’s job as a warrior and protector of the holy arsenal.”Samuel seemed pleased. “Very good. Keep in mind that you belong to all of the households and don't pick any favorites.  I have noticed you spend most of your time with Shu.  That will come to an end as of today.  You are to spend equal time with the Princes so as to not upset the balance of the household.”  Sidra knew this day would come but felt torn.  Shu had been her protector, her touchstone and her closest friend. There were a few of the brothers who were quite cruel and demanding. Hopefully, as she got stronger she would be able to keep up.Samuel continued “Now the process to become a protector is hard and painful, but it is part of your legacy and something to be proud of.  After our talk, your mother is going to take you to the Mystics to start the process.  Once it is done you will become a young woman and begin your warrior training”.Sidra felt fearful about receiving her first marks. But she knew it could not be helped.Samuel came over to his fretful daughter, patted her head, and gave her a kiss on the cheek.  He was surprised at how quickly she was growing up. Lilith stood and took Sidra’s hand to go into the portal room. The vampire mystics were hard at work preparing the room.   Sparkling gemstones were within reach as were various tools that glistened from the fire coming from a forge opposite the gemstones.  The elder mystic pointed with a claw-like hand. “Sidra, please disrobe and lay on your stomach.  Today we will work on the bindings on your back.  Sidra took a deep breath and followed the mystic’s instructions.  He advised Sidra, “ I am sure that your father already told you this but we will be unable to dampen your pain. So please bear with it as much as you can.  The walls are sealed and there is no shame in screaming.”Lilith held her hand and guided her to the table. As Sidra made herself as comfortable as she could on the metal table the ancient vampire grabbed a chisel and hammer. “Let’s begin”

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Sidra’s body felt lifeless, her mind falling back to simpler times that she had forgotten.  The images appear blurry to begin with.  Then she hears children’s voices.  They are wearing old-fashioned swimsuits and playing in the sand along a beach.

The brunette boy was obviously trying to tease the girl with a crab he had dug up.  The blond boy was trying to protect her and they started to rough house.

“Edgar, Shu stop fighting over something so silly.  This is our last time to play for a while”  Shu walks up and gives her a tight hug.  “Sidra, don't be so sad, we can always sneak away,” he said with a mischievous look in his eye.

They rest on the beach holding hands. Giggling as they lay on their backs looking up at the deep blue sky.  The tide gently ebbing to and fro on their feet and legs.  Edgar turns on his side to Sidra and kisses her on the cheek.  “I am going to miss your pretty face.”

Sidra wakes with a start and finds herself surrounded by warmth.  She is swimming in downy sheets and pillows. She finally rolls over enough for her feet to hit the stone-cold floor.  The only sounds that she can hear are the sounds of the morning but the thick curtains block out the sun making it dark.  Her memories of the day before were a blur. She felt this overwhelming anxiety in her chest when she tried.  The dream was the foremost on her mind.

That was me?

Her reverie was interrupted by the door being opened.  Otto was trying to bring in a breakfast service but was failing miserably.  “Oh stop, let me help you.  Geez Otto you would think as a vampire you wouldn't be such a clutz,” she said. Otto bowed “Well if little piggie did not have such a large appetite I would have gotten away bringing less up that damn staircase.  There are no elevators here, you know.”  She hit him in the chest as she grabbed the service tray.  Everything looks so good, thank you Otto.
Otto makes his way to the bed and sets down as Sidrah starts to eat.  “You want to tell me what happened to you last night Sid?  Renji told me you passed out.”  He casually lays down on his side.  “ Do I have to stay on top of you at all times to make sure you are taking care of yourself?” Sidra blushes and tries to swallow a mouthful of pancakes.  “Do I have to remind you that I have taken great care of myself these past few years you have been gone?  It was jet lag, I am sure of it.”
Sidrah keeps eating as if her life depended on it. She slurps down coffee like a woman
possessed,  totally ignoring Otto.
He gets up from the bed and heads to the door. “When you are done come downstairs, I am taking you on a tour of the place.” He winked at her and closed the door behind him.  Sidra looks for an outfit in her bag.  Finding her favorite long sleeve t-shirt, jeans, and her cosmetic bag she heads to the bathroom to make herself look presentable.

The bathroom was huge.  The shower was on one side, and then there was a large jacuzzi tub in the corner across from it that could fit 6.  A bright candelabra hung from the ceiling.  The only thing that threw her off was that all the walls were lined with mirrors oxidized with age.

She shook her head, put her stuff down in the dressing area, and headed for the shower. The shelves were fully stocked with high-end products that looked like they were purchased with her in mind.  Grabbing the apple-scented shampoo she started her morning ritual.

Otto walked down the stairs whistling all the way down.  He bounded to the final step where he found Shu pacing back and forth waiting for him.  Otto’s face became serious as Shu walked up to him.  “I need you in the library now!”

The library was one of the best places for a meeting on the lower levels of the house.  The room was awarded by mystics centuries ago.  Shu closed the sliding wall door once they came in.  “So you have finally come crawling back with your pet. Do you have any idea the hell this will unleash?”

“I had no choice.  Your father was having the household followed.  My wives were in perpetual fear of what might happen.”  Otto said.

Shu growled, “Well you better hurry on your way back to them because I am going to euthanize that bitch as soon as I can.”

Otto’s face fell.  “Shu, please, she only wanted her friend not to suffer. Her own flesh and blood died at the hand of those hunters.  Do you know what she will suffer once she regains her memories?  Isn't that enough for you? Or have you just now finally woke up after a centuries-long nap?”

Shu growled and pounced on Otto.  Pulling him to the floor in an attempt to break his neck.  Otto immediately teleported to the other side of the room, escaping Shu.  “You forgot who you are dealing with, BOY.  I may have been laying low but I have not lost any of my skills.  Do you forget I am older than your father?”.  Shu stood his ground “Oh really OLD MAN?, from what I have heard you are losing it.  You are wasting away and will soon be on your deathbed.”

Otto hung his head and tried to catch his breath. Shu heard the conversation between him and his father.  “She is an innocent victim Shu.”

Shu wasn't having it “She hasn't turned yet.  And once she does she will have no control.  Who knows the damage that she will do.”

Otto decided it was time that Shu knew the whole truth.  “Do you know why the hunters wanted her dead?  Because she is the last in her line and holds the key to our ancient weapons.  The ones that this family will need for what is to come.  I am not going to stand by and watch you fuck this up.  I don't care if it destroys me in the process but I will keep her safe.”

Yuma woke up dripping with sweat.

Why would I be going to the beach with that asshole Shu?

He rolled out of bed, scratched himself, and headed for the shower.

I think I need to take out the mushrooms in my sleepy tea.
