Work Text
There Jimin sits, all alone during lunch. He's fine with it, really. But sometimes he wishes he had a few friends or just someone in general to empty out his feelings to. But no one wants to talk to a kid who won't verbally partake in a conversation normally now, do they? So he just sighs and eats his lunch in silence like he does every other day.
He peeps up from his plate once he hears the cafeteria doors open. The cafeteria goes silent for about half a second before getting filled back with the loud noise of unintelligible chatter mingling with that of spoons and forks gently hitting plates. He looks towards the direction of the entrance door and spots a flash of mint green with a base of black.Ah, Min Yoongi. He thinks to himself.Everyone is always afraid of him and Jimin never understood that kind of behavior towards a seemingly harmless person. He's probably a really nice guy anyway. But jimin would never know because he doesn't want to burden the mint head with his speech disability.See, Jimin has a stutter - and it's not just any stutter that comes between a few words. The stutter takes its spotlight between almost every syllable, word, and sentence. He wishes it would just go away. But that's simply not how stutters work. He looks away from the black clad teen and continues to eat.He was interrupted yet again by someone sitting at his table.“Hey, kid.”
Who? What? When? Where? Why?
“Um, I'm talking to you.”Oh, he knows that voice well. It's the voice of the
Min Yoongi.
Jimin looks up and blushes into a berry red. he waves.“I saw you staring at me earlier.” Yoongi states bluntly. At that, Jimin's blush turns a deeper shade of berry red.But it only causes yoongi to smirk and tease him more, “You look pretty when you blush.” and at that, Jimin blushes more, if possible.Yoongi takes out a small notepad and pencil and begins drawing something.Jimin tries looking but is soon caught by the mint head in front of him.“Hey! This is not for your eyes to see- yet.”What do you mean by ‘yet’? Jimin thinks.Soon after, it seemed like Yoongi was about to say something but was cut off by the bell ringing, and that announced the end of their lunch break. So instead, he gets up,“See you around, pretty boy.”And with that, he's gone.Jimin's eyes widen comically as he blushes again.
--☁️--
As the ‘pretty boy’ walks down the busy hallway, he can't help but think about the artsy teen who gave him that nickname in the first place. Jimin's cheeks blush at the thought, the boy having to to force himself to keep a squeal in.If anyone bothered to glance at him in this moment, they would think he was constipated. As the blond giddily enters his english class, he is immediately met with strange looks. But Jimin doesn't care.Someone finally talked to him, plus, called him pretty.Jimin plops down behind his desk with a smile on his pretty face.“Well, Jimin” his english teacher starts when the class began soon after, “since you seem to be in a good mood, why don't you flip to page two-sixty-three and read that-” a short-living awkward silence follows after, as the teacher realizes his mistake of asking a student with a speech disability to read. “Oh, never mind.”Jimin's mood instantly drops. All the staff knew the boy had a major stutter issue and kept quiet because of it. How could his english teacher just forget something so significant and embarrass him like that? His classmates take their awful chance at this and shoot him nasty looks, whispering things like, “Why does he get special treatment?” and “What an absolute fucking stu-tu-tu-tu-tu-ttering freak.”A gloomy huff escapes his plump lips as he rests his head on the desk. Just as he thought there were finally going to be better days for him, all his hope on that matter was taken away.
Don't cry now, you ass! You've cried enough already.
Learn how to control yourself, you whiny idiot. he scolded himself mentally. This continued on in a cycle all the time. when he felt like crying, he'd stop himself by hitting himself and telling himself not to - telling himself that he has shed enough tears and that, he's disgusting and selfish for even thinking of crying again and again.
Not today.
Jimin thought.
No crying today.
He only has to go through a few more hours till he gets home - but it isn't an escape either.
--☁️--
As his school hours end, dread seeps through Jimin's entire being. He doesn't particularly like going to school and even though hate is a strong word and he knows it, he absolutely hates going home. There just seemed to be no escape.Jimin takes a breath, dropping his head down, causing himself to look like the shadow of a cowardly dog. He began walking to his ‘home’ - if he could even call it that.Home is supposed to be an escape zone - the place where everyone can seek comfort in, after a tiresome day. Most importantly, the place that he could finally take a rest in, take a break from the outside world. But home is even worse than school for Jimin. His father abuses him for his speech impediment daily, as if it's an important ritual, and reprimands him for not speaking even though he told him to shut his mouth because “Everytime you speak it makes me want to throw myself over a cliff.”
“Learn how to fucking talk the right way, faggot!”
His mother just watches all that while, without a single tear spilling from her eyes, and she only stops the mess once jimin is at his breaking point. She is just too used to this schedule, like Jimin is. She is unable to go against her abusive husband anyway. But secretly in the night, she goes to Jimin's room to comfort him, assuring him that his nightmares weren't real and telling him that everything would be alright. However, his mother only stood watching in front of her husband to stop herself from becoming his punching bag.Jimin shakes his head to allow himself to not go deeper into such negative thoughts. Once the blond has reached the front door of his home, he froze.
Don't worry- everything is going to be alright, Jimin.
He lets out a shaky breath - despite of trying to console his brain several times that everything would be alright, placing his small hand on the knob, and twisting it to open the door.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jimin opens the door and walks into his so called "home" taking a breath to calm himself, he closes the door behind him and locks it, chubby fingers grasping the little nob in the middle and turning it. The blond takes off his shoes and heads to his room, being extra quiet because this is the time where his mom truly rests. He makes his way down the hallway, feet softly padding against the hard wood. Jimin stops when he sees the door to his pastel themed room. The blond opens the door steps on the plush carpet. Jimin gently places his baby blue bag on the floor, careful to not make any noise. The blond sits on his bed, the plush object dipping a little underneath his weight. Okay Jimin he says in his head as he reaches for his bag, unzipping it and getting out his notebook that's covered stickers and glitter. Let's see what we have to do today. Scanning through his notes, the pretty boy frowns when he sees the word "trigonometry". He absolutely despises that subject. Jimin doesn't think he'd need to use that in life so he doesn't understand why he's taking it. He sighs and begans that an energy drakng session of studying.--☁️--It felt like what had been hours after Jimin decided it was time to take a brake. He felt dizzy and his eyes were tired. The blond fell back on the bed and began to stretch like a cat. Limbs reaching the end of the bed, and he lets out a strained breath. He sighs and sits up, lolling his head to each side a bit. "You should really tell me when you're here." Jimin let out a very high pitched scream, one that would definently not be lived down."Calm down, Jimbles. It's just me." his mother had an unopened water bottle im her hand. She walked inside her son's room and gave the bottle filled with water to him."Here." she said, "Drink this. I know you haven't eaten nor drank anything since you got home." Which was true, Jimin always got caught up in his studies. He wanted to be the best he could be. At least he'd have something great about him."Th-th-thanks...m-mom" the pretty boy says, eyes down casting and voice barely a whisper. His mother crouches down next to him, lifting up his chin with delicate fingers. "You know you can always talk to me about anything, right?"
No I fucking can't.
But Jimin just nods and forces a smile on his pretty, plump lips. His mother smiles back and gets up from the the floor. The woman walks to the doorway, "If you need anything, just tell me." and with that, she's off to the kitchen. Soon her husband would be home and if she hadn't cooked anything there would be absolute hell for Jimin and her. The woman certainly couldn't have that, no. Jimin opens up the water bottle and takes a sip. The blond lays down on the bed, eyes filling heavy. He tries to fight it, knowing there would be more trouble with his father if he fell asleep before dinner, but he just couldn't stay awake. He let sleep overtake him.--☁️--"Jimin! Get the fuck up!" the blond is startled awake, he shoots up and rubs the sleep out of his eyes. What time is it? he thinks. Jimin grabbed his phone from where he leaves it on the nightsand next to his bed.Fuck is all he can think before he dashes out of the room. It was 8:15. His father came home at 8:00, his father gets off at 7:45. Shit, Jimin was definently gonna get in a hassle. The blond hops out of bed and dashes to the kitchen where his parents are seated at the table. Jimin freezes and his heart starts pounding hard in his chest. The blond feels his hands become clammy. "Well, what are you waiting for?" Jimin's father taunts. "Sit the fuck down." Jimin gulps and walks to the seat placed right infront of his father. Jimin's dad placed put the seats like that for a reason. There, right infront of jimin's face is tteok-bokki. Jimin was about to pick up his chopsticks to start eating but he was stopped by that dammed question. "How was your day, Jimin?" His dad doesn't even care, but he asked anyway. Just to torture the poor boy. Jimin gulps and his eyes start to well up with tears, fear etching his pretty features. "Did you hear me you stupid cunt?" His father slammed his fist on the table, causing Jimin and his mother to flinch. Jimin nodded. "Then fucking answer me." Jimin's breathing became heavier. he took a shaky breath, "i-it-t w-wa-as g-g-g-g-" "God, just shut the fuck up already!" his father shouts. Tears burst from the blondes pretty, brown eyes and his face became as red as a tomato. "I-I-I'm s-so-rrr-" "Shut.The.Fuck.Up! You fucking disgrace! You're fucking disgusting! I should disown you. Not only can you not speak like you're retarted but you're also a dick sucking whore!" Jimin's eyes widended and he began to shake, more tears fell from his eyes and a pathetic whimper came out of his mouth. "Stop crying you bitch!" Jimin's father stood up and walked next to the trembling boy and grabbed a handful of his blonde locks. He gave a harsh tug that made jimin sob. "P-P-Plea-s-s-se s-st-o-o-p." Jimin pleaded. His father ignored him and yanked the boy up from his hair. "Look at you." he said, "Fucking pathetic." He realeased the blondes hair only to push him on the ground and began pounding his fists against the boy's torso, hitting him in the face occasionally, painting his pretty face with ugly marks "P-P-P-" Jimin tried but he was shut up by his father places his hand around hia throat, blocking oxygen from flowing through the blonde's lungs. "I said shut up!" he yelled right in jimin's face. Jimin wrapped a small hand around the man's slightly larger one and tried tugging it off. When he couldn't tug the man's hand from his throat, Jimin started to panic. This is it. he thought my father's gonna kill me. Just then, his mother pushed at her husband, "Jooyoon let go of him! Get off of him!" she shouted. The man slowly let go off Jimin's throat and got off of him. Jimin took mouthful of air. "You're lucky your mother is so kind to spare such trash like you." And with that, he was off. Jimin was gasping for air, and he was crying. "C-C-Ca-a-nnn-t-t-" his mother shushed him. She cradled his head. "N-no! D-D-Do-o-nnnt-t-t t-t-t-to-ouch-ch-ch m-me!" "Shh my precious boy. Everything is okay now. he's gone." the woman said, giving false hope and sincerity to her son. "G-G-o-onnne?" Jimin asked innocently. If he was in the right state of mind, he's know she was just saying it to "comfort" him. "Yes, gone Jimin." "O-O-Ok-k-a-ayy." --☁️-- That night, like every other, Jimin woke up in a cold sweat due to a nightmare. His mother came rushing with food and water (he didn't eat anything), comforting him and telling the pretty boy everything was alright.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jimin didn't get much sleep last night. This happens alot. He can't even remember the last time where he got the healthy amount of sleep someone at his age needs. He wakes up, and at first, he doesn't even crack open an eye. Jimin kind of just...lays there. His whole body is in pain and it'd be in more painful if he decided to move. But, he needs to head to school. So the blond slowly gets up, groaning at the pain in his adomnem, scalp, and neck.He takes a breath and sits for awhile and just stares at the ground.
W
hy does this keep happening to me?
Every night his father always hurts him whether it be physcially or emotionally. Usually both. He's trying his best to not piss him off. In fact, Jimin doesn't even do anything. It's like his exsistence itself disturbs the man.
I
t'd be better off if I was dead.
It feels like hours until the blonde gets up from his bed, he limps into the hallway all the way into the bathroom, making pained noises as he makes his way into the bathroom. You'd think Jimin would be used to this by now (and no, no one should) but he isn't. It hurts him. It really does hurt him that every night he gets beat up like he's nothing. Getting kicked over and over and over again like he's some can on the street.Being punched like he's some wrestler's punching bag.Being insulted like he's some hooker in the alleyways. And maybe, just maybe Jimin can't take it anymore. He can't. He just can't.He's tired of his body and character being broken repeadetly. He doesn't matter.I don't matter. He looks in the mirror and almost vomits at what he sees. God, he's so fucking ugly.Bruises litter the soft, peach toned skin. Ugly purple and red marks adorn his skin. Cuts scattered here and there. He has a black eye and a swollen cheek. He's so ugly. Not just his apperance but Jimin's character, too. How he cries like "a pathetic bitch" as his father puts it. How he feels insecure about every little thing. How he gets embarrased because someone out of his league called him pretty and probably only sat with him because he pitied the poor boy.
G
od, i'm so ugly.
And with that, the pretty boy takss off his clothes, steps into the shower, and turns on the water. And he just scrubs. Trying to get the ugly marks off of his skin, trying to get the ugly marks out of himself, no matter how much it hurts. He scrubs until his skin is red.
--☁️--
Once he's out of the shower, he wraps a towel around his small waist and heads back into his room. Usually, it smells like peaches in here. But now, it smells exactly like he feels.
Empty.
The blonde walks over to his dresser and picks out his outfit for the day. a blue fluffy sweater, and some denimn jeans. He puts his clothes and grabs the concealer and foundation he hides in one of his drawers. Normally, he wouldn't do a full face of make up, just some eyeliner and lip gloss but now he has to. To cover up the horrid nightmares in his skin. He puts it on carefully, making sure not to hurt himself more than he already is.
He tries his best to cover up the swelling. He'll just have to tell the teacher that he has an alleegic reaction to what he had for dinnee last night.
He takes and unstable breath once he's finished and heads back into his room, making sure to put his makeup is where it was before so his father doesn't find it.
The pretty boy grabs his bag and walks out of his room, slightly closing the door behind him.
He goes to the foyer and puts on his shoes. Before he leaves, Jimin hears his mother say, "Have a good day at school. Be safe!"
He doesn't say anything and leaves.
I
'm more safe at school anyway.
--☁️--
Walking on the sidewalk on his way to school, Jimin replicates like how he walked home yesterday.
Like a cowardly dog.
He knows he should be paying attention but honestly, he doesn't give a shit right now.
Everything feels and looks gray. not literally but right now, in this very moment, everything is dull.
I
t's okay, Jimin School is safer than home.
Jimin gets to the school fast. It only takes twenty minutes, if you're walking that is.
The blonde looks up to make sure he wouldn't bump into anyone, knowing how cruel highschool students could be. He falls into the cluster of students. Jimin goes straight to his locker to put away the things he doesn't need for now.
Once he closes his locker, Jimin walks off and when he's close by his trigonometry class, he spots a pattern. Black beanie, mint green hair, black shirt, jeans, and shoes.
And for a moment. A split second, the pretty boy smiles.
Jimin continues walking, feeling slightly better now that he's seen the artsy teen.
--☁️--
Like always, trigonometry is a bore. But Jimin is a straight a student and is always obedient so he pays attention anyways. The blonde sighs and he has the urge to rest his head on his hand but he can't. It'll cause him pain and Jimin doesn't want to risk rubbing off his make up.
So he just sits up straight, trying not to dose off.
"Any questions?" the teacher asks, looking around hopefully.
I have a question. Jimin muses. Why do we have to take this class?
When no one raises their hand, the teacher lets out a frustrated breath. "Okay then...if no one has any auestions then I guess we can wrap up early..."
All the students pipe up at that, eyes going wide and smiles on their faces.
"But just to make sure you guys ace those tests...let's go over lesson 68 one more time!" an evil smirk on her lips.
All of the students groan, even Jimin.
--☁️--
It's lunch time again, and like always, Jimin is alone. He starts to eat his food in silence when he hears a certain someone call out, "Hey pretty boy."
Jimin looks in the direction of that voice and...
The blonde almost falls out of his seat.
It's Min Yoongi, again.
W
hy is he talking to me?
"Can I sit here?" he asks, although, it isn't really a question because he's sitting down anyway. Jimin nods.
"How's your day so far? Did Proffessor Chung work you to death?"
Jimin squints his eyes a bit, as if he's thinking. Then he lifts up his hand and turns it 'so so.' and the he nods 'Yes, yes he did.'
A small smile appears on Yoongi's face, "Of course he did."
They eat a bit and-
"What's that?"
Oh no.
"You're cheek and eye kind of look swollen. What happend, pretty boy?"
Jimin shakes his head, 'No it's nothing.'
"Come on, pretty boy. You can tell me." Yoongi urges on.
Jimim shakes his head no again.
I really can't.
Yoongi lets out a sigh of defeat, "Alright. If you don't want to tell me, that's fine. I don't wanna pry."
Jimin sees Yoongi pull out his notepad again, flipping to the same page where he doodled yesterday.
Jimin taps on the table to get Yoongi's attention. The mint head looks up at him confused.
Jimin points to the notepad, 'What's that?'
"What's this?" Yoongi says, trying to figure out what the blonde is trying to say. Jimin nods, signifiying that Yoongi was correct. "Oh, it's a drawing."
Jimin tries to think of a way of saying "Of what?" without speaking. But after a while, he just gives up and just stares in the artsy teens eyes. Jimin blushes and looks away. Yoongi smirks, "Like what you see pretty boy?" he teases.
Jimin's eyes widened and he gulps.
"It's okay. I think you're cute too." Yoongi says as he looks back at his notepad, continueing to draw.
Jimin would be lying if he said he didn't die for a minute.
"Hey um...pretty boy."
Jimin tilts his head to the side a bit.
Yoongi looks up. And as his thin, pink lips spill that very question. The question that Jimin absolutely despises so much, time seems to slow.
"Are you mute or something?"
Jimin's eyes well up with tears. And he grimaces, blinking them away.
The pretty boy nods 'yes'.
Yoongi smiled, "I figured. But don't worry, I don't care about that. It's cute. You're cute."
Jimin feels his cheeks begin to warm up.
------
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
It's been about two months since Yoongi dropped that dreaded question. The two have became friends. Really good friends. Yeah, Jimin isn't so fond of that word. Not anymore at least.Friend. What a cruel word. All because of Min Yoongi. Damn that minthead and his art hoe aesthetic. Damn him and that smirk that never fails to make the pretty boy smile. Jimin really hates the word "friend." It's so cruel and empty. He wishes that there was more between the two. Something with a deeper meaning.---☁️--- It's the time between classes, students rushing everywhere, books in their hands. Jimin receives a few preganant stares but nothing else. It's like they're staring inside of him, reading him. Like they know something. Secrets. What he's hiding.
Or perhaps, it's because he has a stutter and never opens his mouth to say anything. Not even a single word. Maybe it's because this school is so toxic. People can be so cruel.
It's like he can never catch a break.Jimin shakes his head, No negative thoughts Yoongi cares about you. He's your friend. Friend. Hm, there's that word again. ---☁️--- Jimin has always found history class boring. not the subject, but the teacher. He doesn't make it interesting. Jimin would fall asleep if he didn't cate about his grades. So he powers through it, yawning occasionally. The teacher sees him and raises a brow. Although, Mr.Hwang doesn't say anything, knowing that isn't very appropriate since what happend last time.It wouldn'r be appropriate at all to be honest. Ms.Choi was sent on leave for after what she had done. Also, jimin was left embarrased and his mood was just gone for the whole day. No, he couldn't afford that. "Alright class!" Mr.Hwang calls out. "A project is coming up and it requires partners." Shit shit shit. How could he? To say jimin is panicking is an understatement. "and you get to pick who you are working with. So be wise. This project makes up half of your grade. That means if something is wrong, it takes off both of your grades." Ah fuck. Jimin wants to raise his hand, but he can't. So he just stays quiet, hoping no one will pick him and he'll certaintly have to do it by himself- "Hey" someone-a feminine voice-says. Oh god no. Jimin takes a shaky breath and waves, he offers a tight, forced smile. She doesn't look korean. Maybe fillipino. The girl smiles back. "I was wondering, do you want to partners?" she says in perfect Korean.
Jimin wants to say no but he doesn't want to be rude. The pretty boy takes out a notebook and grabs his pencil. "I'm Jade by the way." Jimin swallows. Whyy him? "Don't worry. I can tell you're stressed I know you're mute. Thinga spread pretty quickly around here..." she trails off. The blond nods and looks down, then he sighs. Relief, perhaps? He's glad she doesn't care about him being mute but upset that people are spreading his buisness around as if it were nothing. Jimin looks down at the notebook. He writes: "Why'd you choose me if you knew?" Jade laughs, "I don't care about that, silly. You're smart and cooperative. Plus, you seem sweet." Sweet. Never heard that one before. There's writing noises and, "Um thanks." Jimin writes. He's never known anyone that doesn't care about his speech problem, well accept Yoongi.
Ah, Yoongi. I can't wait to see him.
After the class had settled down, Mr.Hwang speaks, "Alright, since everyone has found there partners...I suppose I should tell you what this project is..."---☁️---Finally, lunch! Jimin thought. It's become the highlight of his day. It wasn't because he got to eat, no.Lunch was actually terrible and he was sure most of this stuff wasn't edible It was because of a certain someone. Someone with mint green hair that was covered in black. Someone who was very artistic. Jimin was so dazed that he forgot about the long line behind him. He was snapped out of his trance with a rude, "Hey! mind moving up asshole? You're holding up the line!" to which he complied. What a great way to start off lunch... He soon got his lunch and sat down at his usual table. He couldn't wait till yoongi, his friend, got here. Himin began to eat his food, cringing at the taste. Why is cafeteria food so nasty? The doors opened and like always, the cafeteria went quiet. There, he saw min Yoongi walking through the cafeteria and falling in line. After a few minutes, Jimin felt the table shake, he looked up and saw the minthead. "Hey pretty boy." he says with a lazy smile. Jimin mouthed "Hi" and smiled. Yoongi took a bite of his apple. "This is the only thing that's edible." Jimin laughs and nods. He wasn't lying. They talk for awhile, laughing occasionally and of course, their conversations wouldn't be theirs without Jimin blushing red like a tomato. "Hey, um I've been meaning to ask you something." Yoongi says. Jimin anticipates the wrong question. "What's your phone number? I wanna talk to you outside of school hours." Jimin's features instantly drop. His shit father never let him have a phone. Probably because he's afraid jimin would rat him out. Jimin shakes his head "no". Yoongi's eyesbrows knit in confusion. "You don't wanna talk more?" Maybe he had been getting the wrong impression- Jimin immidianly panicks and he begans to frantically shake his head "no"."Woah, calm down pretty boy. We can't have you getting dizzy." Yoongi says, reaching out a hand to touch Jimin's shoulder. Jimin flinches. Ge doesn't like when people touch him. You can guess why. Yoongi immidiantly retracts his hand, "Oh...I'm sorry. I didn't mean-" Before he could finish his sentence, the bell rang and he got up. "Well I guess that's my cue..." he says quietly. He leaves. The pretty boy sniffs, tears welling up in his pretty, brown eyes. Stop crying. There's no need to. You already cry enough so dry those weak ass tears and get up.The blonde swallows, taking a breath.
Why do I ruin everything?
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Light emerges from the dark as Jimin opens his chocolate colored eyes. He squints from the tiny bit of light shining in his eyes from the window. The pretty boy doesn't even know what day it is. Can't check his phone because well- he doesn't have one.He used to but, his father took it away.Probably in fear of Jimin telling the authorities.Jimin stumbles out of bed and hurries to the bathroom in fear of being late for school. That wouldn't go well with his father. It's not like anything did in the first place. It's not like there was a reason why Mr.Park had turned this way. He's always been a prick. He's always been physically and mentally abusive to both his wife and son and to others around him.His father is just toxic. So no, Jimin doesn't reminisce of the "old days".Or whatever the fuck that is... The blonde makes his way outside onto the hall. Feet softly padding against the hard, wooden floor, he tries to see the day on the oven clock but before he can, he notices his father sitting on the Navy blue couch, a little old and tatted but still useful nonetheless.Jimin's heart rate soars and his composure goes out the window. He panics and back tracks into his room, but of course, life hates him and his step makes a loud creek. The pretty boy winces and just waits for his doom.Mr.Park turns around to find his son. He grimaces but doesn't say anything.Jimin doesn't know if he should move or not.His internal question is answered for him when his father stands up and stumbles to the teen."What the fuck do you want?" he asks, voice gruff and body too close for Jimin's liking.Jimin gulps. If he says something he'll get hurt and if he doesn't he'll get hurt too."I-I-I w-w-wa-as ch-ch-che-eck-cking-g th-th-"
Slap
The blonde whimpers.Everything after that is a blur. A few hours later after the same routine is finished, Jimin is told to clean the kitchen even though, thanks to his mother, it was already spotless. But he does because he doesn't want to "get in trouble" even more. He's almost finished when he heard soft footsteps come from behind him. That's not dad for sure.A small wave of relief washes over him, but he remembers that his mother doesn't really care about him either. At least she doesn't hit him or spit insults at him- and quite literally spit at him.But what she does is the same as what his father does.In a way, at least."You okay, Jimin?" his mother asks in that Oh so soft voice she has.Deceiving.He nods his head yes.He hates talking."Okay, just checking on you." she walks away to God knows where. He only ever sees her when he's getting the living shit beat out of him.Again, deceiving.Just one more day, Jimin. He thinks, Just one more day and you can get out of here and explain. The weekend doesn't roll around the corner. More like a long, bumpy road. But Jimin survives. He always does.Even though sometimes he wishes he didn't.The pretty boy gets ready for school and dresses himself in his usual soft-pallet attire. Jimin heads out of his room and gets out of his house as soon as he can, short legs tired because he nearly ran the whole way to school. He wanted to make it as far as possible from home.
Home. I fucking hate that word.
Jimin takes his usual path to school and once he makes it on school grounds, he spots a certain lettuce head boy.Yoongi.Jimin practically melts. But then freezes up when the older approaches him."Hey pretty boy."Jimin smiles shyly. The black clad teen chuckles, "You're cute." he mumbles to himself.Jimin opens his mouth, about to say something, but closes it shut as soon as he feels the cool air rushing into his mouth. He mouths "We need to talk." hoping the older would get it.The older nods and as soon as he's about to say something the Bell rings. Yoongi sighs."Later, pretty boy."Jimin waves and stands still in the now empty hall.
Why does that always happen?
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jimin sighs and hurries to his first class in fear of being late. He turns a corner and walks up a long flight of stairs and he. walks straight down the hall and to the last door.English IHe sighs and opens the door, twisting the knob and pushing it. The pretty boy walks to an open seat, head down. The teacher didn't stop to say something rude like most would, but she does give him a look.He plops down in the desk with a dull thud and is tapped on the shoulder gently from someone behind him.Jimin turns his head and to his surprise, he sees Jade.
I don't remember her being in this class around this time.
"You can copy off my notes and we have a quiz next Friday." she whispers.Jimin smiles and mouths "Thank you." to her and reaches out to take her notebook. The bell rings for the next class and Jimin folds in on himself as he tries to push through the cluster of students at the door.He hates crowds. The small boy finally squeezes through and walks to his next class. He grunts when someone knocks into him forcefully and looks."Watch where you're fucking going you close-mouthed freak." a boy slightly taller than him mutters as he passes by. Jimin sighs and continues on his way, not even giving the boy his time of day. The project is only two weeks ahead and Jimin can't even bring himself to say one word."It's okay. I know you're mute. You basically did all the research yourself."Which was true, Jimin didn't want to burden Jade even more than he already is. So he took it upon himself to do the hardest part of the project."It's fine. You're fine. I'm sure the professor will understand." her kind words and reasurring tone calming him. Class after class. It doesn't matter. Jimin feels empty anyways. He feels robotic. But there is just a tiny slither of hope seeping through his veins. Maybe he can explain to Yoongi why he reacted in such a way. Or maybe the mint head would just ignore and avoid him for the rest of the school year.He really doesn't need that. The pretty boy sighs and continues to walk down the hall. The sound of the steps resonate in the air. It's the only thing he can hear. His vision blurs and his hearing does too. The last thing he hears is the patter of his sneaker-clad shoe and then he's out like a light. "Mr.Park."
"Mr.Park."
"Mr.Park!"
The blonde jolts awake, heart thumping against his chest."You fainted." he hears a voice say. He turns his head and identifies the school nurse. "You look awfully pale and tired. Have you been getting enough sleep? Did you eat breakfast.Jimin nods. A lie.Lies to both questions but those are probably just only small factors as to why he fainted in the middle of the hallway."Here." she hands him an apple. "Eat this and..." she hands him a Goody powder "take this. Eat the apple first though, you don't wanna take that on an empty stomach."Jimin sighs and takes a few bites of the red fruit and opens the packet to pour the bitter contents in his mouth. The pretty boy grimaces and swallows once it dissolves. The school nurse smiles, "Okay. Be on your way. You don't wanna be late for class."
I just fainted.
"Oh and also-"He stops at the door. Once the first two words spill from her mouth Jimin feels his stomach leap in his throat."I called your father."The blonde's breathing gets heavy and he clutches the door frame."Are you alright?"He doesn't answer her question, though. Jimin dashes down the hall and into the bathroom, shoving himself in a stall and tries to calm down.He tries to breathe but it isn't working. The pretty boy clutches a chunk of his hair and pulls.
No. Please no.
A harsh gasp erupts from his plump lips as he struggles to breath, tears staining his checks and heart pounding in his chest. There's a knock but he doesn't hear it."Um...are you alright in there kid?"It's Yoongi.Fuck, he needs to speak but he can't.
Spit it out!
No! Don't! He'll think you're a freak.
He chokes on a gasp and tries to stand up, but alas, he fails."Hey, open the door." Yoongi says as he tries to sound gentle.Jimin swallows and tries to keep a sob back. "C-c-c-ca-can't-t-t b-b-b" he cuts himself off because one, he can barely breath and two, he hates when he talks. He's pretty sure Yoongi gets the point when he hears the mint head take a breath. "Okay...okay." Pause. "Can you take a deep breath for me?"Jimin tries. He succeeds, shaky but it is at least a full inhale. "Okay, now just breath slowly and deep."The pretty boy follows the older's instructions and rises to his feet once he gains his composure. The blonde unlocks the stall and is met with the face of his cr-friend."Jimin." Yoongi murmurs. "I didn't know it was you. I've never heard you speak. I thought you couldn't."Jimin gulps. Here it comes."Are you alright?"
Huh?
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
"So...are we gonna talk about this?"Jimin makes a face About what?Yoongi sighs. "You know what I'm talking about."Speaking about talking...Jimin was not. The blonde wouldn't even let out a peep. He didn't have paper on him, nor some sort of writing tool. He bit his lip. "Lunch." he mouthed.Yoongi nodded, "Okay. I won't pressure you..." the mint head made a move to walk out, feeling awkward. But he stopped and handed Jimin something.A phone.
I can't have this.
"Here. Since you didn't have one. I just- um yeah." The artsy teen stumbled out of the bathroom and quickly walked to his class that he was extremely late for.
I can't have this.
Did he pay for this?
Why'd he do this?
I don't deserve him.
Why is he so nice to me?
Jimin shook his head, not wanting to have another panic attack from drowning in his thoughts. He runs out of the bathroom and hurries to his class that he his also extremely late for. Jimin runs down the halls, not caring if he gets caught. If at least there's one thing he can control, it's his grades. "Can you explain to me why you are ten minutes late for class Mr.Park?" his biology teacher asks-no demands. Jimin gulps and he takes a deep breath before finding a seat. The class is silent, eyes following him as he does so. The teacher clears her thought, face pinched in agitation. "I'm still waiting." Jimin nibbles his bottom lip, causing the skin to grow red and plops down onto his seat. The pretty boy reaches for his bag, unzipping it to get out a paper and pencil so he can explain himself.
This is so humiliating.
You're so embarrassing.
Why did you have to have a panic attack?
God, you're so weak.
The blonde gulps and begins writing hastily, not wanting to hold class for any longer. When he finishes, he hops up from his seat and walks down to the teacher's desk, every step dreading him. He hands her the letter and she reads it. The biology teacher looks up at him through her classes."The nurse really didn't give you a pass?" Jimin nods his head "no". "Alright. I'll let this slide this time. But if this happens again, you know what will happen." Jimin nods his head, blood running cold at the thought of getting detention. The cafeteria is noisy as always. Jimin waits in line to get a plate of whatever grossness is served today. Again, like a routine, the room grows silent as Yoongi burst open the doors and gets in line. Just like that, the cafeteria goes back to being filled with incoherent chatter. Jimin rolls his eyes.
Seriously, I don't get it. He's literally done nothing.
Once the pretty boy finally gets his food- if you can call it that. The only edible thing on the plate is fruit. He finds his place at an empty table and sits down. Despite being a school in Korea, they have a very western way of doing things. As he lifts a piece of pineapple to his plump lips he feels someone sit in front of him. He bites the piece of fruit and looks up with his eyes. It's Yoongi. Jimin bats his eyelashes at him- not on purpose, or at least he thinks it wasn't on purpose. He doesn't miss the faint blush that finds itself on the older's cheeks before immediately going away. The minthead clears his throat. "So...?" Jimin makes an expression as if he doesn't know what Yoongi is getting at. "You know what." Jimin gulps and points at the minthead's sketching notebook and his pencil that really isn't made for writing.Yoongi slides them over to him and Jimin begins writing, cautiously telling him things, not wanting him to find out too much. He hands the pencil and notepad back to Yoongi. It reads:
"As you can tell, I am mute but purposely (which you also know now). I have a speech impairment and I don't like talking because it's quite the hassle."
Yoongi looks up from the note, stunned at how articulate the younger is and also at the fact that he hasn't gotten help yet. "I could help you." Jimin looks shocked. Surely the minthead doesn't want to even be hear him anymore. Yoongi sighs, "Look, I can tell it upsets you. Also, I don't mind hanging with you. I've actually been trying to find a way to spend more time with you." Yoongi says, scratching the back of his neck.Jimin blushes a berry red and thinks for a second. He mouths "okay". Yoongu smiles, "Okay. But we'll have to find a place and a time." The older thinks for a moment, "You could visit me after school in the art room. I'm always in there." Jimin nods and continues to eat his lunch. "Oh and also-" Yoongi cuts himself off. He seems to be fiddling with a page from his sketch book. Jimin looks at him expectantly. Yoongi shakes his head. "Never mind. It's not the right time."
What is he talking about?
They go back to the normal way of things. Yoongi ranting about random things (mostly capitalism) and Jimin nodding and mouthing things like "Yeah" "Same" and "I agree"
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Three knocks and then he hears a voice. "Come in." it answers. Jimin walks inside of the small room. The art room.Quite an interesting place. The pretty boy observes the light blue-almost purple-room. There's easles here and there, some paintings hanging up on the wall, a few desks, some sculptures and other forms of art hung in the room and on some small tables. Jimin is snapped out of his gaze when he hears footsteps."Hey." Yoongi says, voice gruff from not using it for a while. He drags a chair to one of the desks and sits at the one that was already there. "Sit." He gestures to the chair. Jimin follows suit. There's a pregnant pause. Yoongi clears his throat, "Okay-um...I didn't think this through."The blond sighs, but Yoongi speaks up. "But! But...I looked on the internet and it says "To speak with rhythm, avoid certain words and to think before you speak." what words do you have problems with?"Jimin bites his plump lip, "All" he mouths.Yoongi nods. "Okay. That's fine. Okay. Sure." The pretty boy chuckles at the older's antics which causes him to blush. Yoongi scrolls through his phone, "I typed a few sentences in case that was the problem." he pauses. "I guess we'll start now."Jimin stays silent."Repeat after me."Jimin gulps. His throat feels tight. Those words ring in his head."Don't laugh at the sentence, we have to start out simple." Yoongi says. Jimin nods and looks at the older to continue. Yoongi exhales through his nose and opens his mouth. "The black cat was sleeping." he says, making sure to pronounce every syllable correct.Jimin gulps and bites his lip. Yoongi senses her nervousness and looks up at him. "It's alright. Take your time."The pretty boy nods and openz his mouth to begin speaking. "Th-th-the b-b-bl-bl-bla-ck-ck-" the blonde grumbles and snaps his mouth shut. He rests his head in his hands.Yoongi looks at him with kind eyes. "It's alright. Take your time. Remember. Breath."Jimin nods and tries again. He inhales and closes his eyes. He lets the air linger in his lungs before letting it out. "Th-the b-b-bl-black-ck c-c-cat-t w-wa-was s-sl-sleep-ping-g." he finishes with a wince. Jimin looks up and his only met with a smile. "See? You did good."
Good?
That was horrible.
"Okay. Next sentence." They did that for about an hour before Jimin could say the sentence with a minimal stutter. By the time it was over, the younger's mouth was dry and if he heard anything about a cat sleeping or an apple being red, he might go crazy."Wanna say it again?" Yoongi says jokingly. The pretty boy shakes his head frantically with a look that says, 'Please no!' The minthead laughs and shakes his head. "You're cute." He then pulls out his sketching pad and a pencil (where does put these things?) and begins to work on the drawing he's been working on for about three months.Jimin taps Yoongi's hand, which causes him to look up. The blonde bites his lip and hesitates but he figures I've already shown him my voice, might as well get it over with."Ph-phon-ne?" Jimin asks. He doesn't want to burden Yoongi more than he already has. Yoongi squints in confusion. "Phone?" he says, question mark evident on his face. Jimin nods and takes out his phone that the older had gifted him. Yoongi's eyes widen. The minthead dodges the question. "So um-how about that project you have to do?"Jimin looks confused but decides to ask again another day and indulges Yoongi with a conversation. This time he speaks, but for the most part he mouths his words and uses hand gestures. In the middle of their mindless banter (if you could even call it that), Jimin checks the time on his phone.
Shit
He rises up from his seat, dashing out of the room, leaving Yoongi confused and calling after him. Jimin runs home, panting hard and feet pounding against the pavement. It was 8:37. His father usually came home at 8. He was defiantly in trouble. The pretty boy slings open the front door and is met with a tall figure.
Shit
"Where were you?" his father demands. Jimin bites his lip and takes a deep breath.Remember, breath."Answer me you stupid bitch!" his father yells, spit spraying out of his mouth. He pushes Jimin's chest, causing the smaller to hit his back against the door. "I-I w-wa-was-s-" he words turn into a garbled mess."This is the last time you will disrespect me and get away with it you piece of shit." his father growls. Jimin claws at his hand but the grip is too strong. His vision begins to blurs and he starts to see black dots in the corner of his eyes. His face is beet red and he can't even conjure tears in his eyes.
Today is the day that I am truly gonna die.
Jimin doesn't have much time to think before the darkness emerges over his eyesight.
Peace
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Beep
Beep
Beep
Darkness.
Light.
Jimin cracks open his eyes, immediately regretting it afterwards. The artificial light from the room burns them and the blond hisses and shuts his eyes. He tries again.
It still burns but the impact is less. The pretty boy sits up, hearing something to his right go up a bit as he does so. He turns.
Oh. It's one of those things.
He sits and stares for a bit.
Wait-what!
"Oh Jimin, you're finally awake!" he hears a familiar voice call out. The pretty boy turns his head and is met with his mother. She plops herself on the left edge of the hospital bed. "I was so worried! I didn't know what was gonna happen..." she says, looking genuinely worried and stressed out.
Jimin's brows furrow. He was quite sure his mother didn't give to shits about him.
Mrs.Park notices this and she soothes and hand in his hair. At first, Jimin tenses. Used to the touch, but never when he isn't a sobbing mess. The pretty boy soon gets accustomed to the feeling and bats his eyes when they get heavy with sleep.
Mrs.Park smiles, "Don't fight it. The doctor says you need alot of rest."
Jimin hums, contented. He let's sleep overtake him.
The second time Jimin wakes up, it's a little later in the day and his mother is gone. He sits up, taking a good look at the room.
There's two seats to his left, a shelve and cabinet infront of him, to his right, that monitor thing he can't seem to remember the name of. Did he even know it in the first place?
Jimin doesn't know.
There's an iv stand-
pole? saline thing?
Again, Jimin doesn't know.
The blonde startles when he hears heavy footsteps approaching his room. He gulps and he can hear the beeping go up. He looks towards the doorframe and sees an officer talking to a doctor.
They seem to be talking about Jimin.
But, about what exactly?
Jimin looks down at his lap. He folds his hands and notices that there is an iv in his right arm.
Of course there would be.
There's a knock at the door. Jimin looks up. "Mr.Park?" comes a deep voice.
Jimin nods, looking at the officer. Said man steps in. He walks toward Jimin and stops very close to his right.
Too close.
"I'm Officer Lee and I'm going to ask you some questions. Is that alright?"
The pretty boy nods, again. He doesn't look at the officer this time. The man at his side sighs. There's silence. The only noise in the room is the quiet buzz from the white lights and the beeping of the monitor. It went up a few when the police officer came into the room.
The moment Officer Lee opens his mouth, Jimin winces.
"When did the abuse start?"
He hates this. He hates this. He hates this. He hates th-
After about a minutes of silence, Officer Lee clears his throat. "Look, kid. I know you have a stutter. But I don't care about that."
Jimin's heard those words before.
Yoongi
Those words sound different on the minthead's tounge, though. They're caring and gentle, not hurried and abrasive.
"I don't have all day." the offiver says, clearly annoyed.
Jimin takes a deep breath.
Remember, breath.
The pretty boy exhales and calms himself a bit. "W-whe-ennn I-I w-wa-was-s f-four-r." He pauses. "M-m-mayyyb-be."
"Maybe? Are you saying there's a possibility that your father was always abusive? Even when you were an infant?"
Jimin nods his head.
Officer Lee hums. A look of disgust finds its way on his features before he quickly fixes it.
"Has he ever tried to-or threatened to- kill you?"
Oh God.
He can't do this.
Tears prickle in his brown eyes but he doesn't let them fall. He swallows and clears his throat.
"Y-y-y-ye-es-s-s."
Jimin's pretty sure he's shaking by now.
"Has he ever threatened you with a weapon?"
Jimin nods and sniffles.
Can this be over with already?
He wishes he could curl up into a little ball right now.
Officer Lee clears his throat, "We're done. I'll let your mother know."
Jimin doesn't respond. As soon as the officer leaves he sinks down into his bed. The blond sniffles and lets the tears roll down his soft cheeks. He's quiet. Doesn't want anyone to know.
He's crying but what for?
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The third time he wakes up, his mom is back. She has food (because hospital food is gross) and his phone.
Wait
Jimin clears his throat and sits up. He rubs the sleepiness out of his eyes and motions to the fast food bag and as if on cue, his stomach growls. Mrs.Park smiles, "I'm sorry. You can't have any, Jimin. I thought it'd be okay since...you know..."
I'm anemic and malnourished.
"But apparently they only want you to have "good nutrition". You should be having lunch right now. It's about time." she says. She looks towards the door and spots a nurse with a cart. Jimin follows her gaze. The door opens and that same nurse wheels in his food. Jimin's heard that hospital food is bad but he's pretty sure nothing can beat his school lunch. The nurse pushes the car closer to Jimin and puts the makeshift table over his lap. The blond honestly doesn't think anyone knows what they're talking about because right infront of him is a bowl of bibimbap. He was afriad that the hospital might've tried to serve him western-like his school. The nurse leaves once setting everything up. His stomach growls and he picks up the chopsticks and digs in. He eats what he can. Which is suprisingly alot. There's a small clump of rice and some pieces of beef left when he's done. He drinks the orange juice with pulp (he doesn't mind) in it. The pretty boy sighs, feeling full for once. Mrs.Park gasps, "If you keep eating like that I don't think you'll be in here for long." she muses. Jimin nods, "G-g-good-d." he says. His mother looks taken aback. Yes, he's spoken to her before but only in a state of panic. The pretty boy notices and bites his lip, a jolt of nerves run up his spine. He knows his mother is more tolerate of his stutter but she's quite the faker and Jimin still doesn't know if she's putting on a facade or not. The fourth time he wakes up, it's night. His mom is curled up on a seat to his left, the door is closed but he can still see people hustling about, his room is pitch black-except for the light from the small window on the door. It's oddly quiet. He can't even hear the monitor. The blond is starlted out of his train of thought when a broad figure bursts open through the door.
Oh no
He knows that silhouette all too well. It's his father. As his father gets closer, he notices that he can't make out his face. It's just a black blur. Like those dots you see when you get up too fast. He feels something around his throat. He can't breathe.
Panic
The figure has both hands wrapped around the blond's throat. Rough and big. Jimin tries to move but he can't. It's as if he's out of his body. The pretty boy tries to scream but nothing comes out. It's still so quiet.
Breathe
He tries to take his own advice, focusing on his breathing pattern, but it doesn't work this time. Jimin tries to move once again. He feels a finger twitch. The blond can't move his head but he sees his mother in his peripheral vision. Help he tries to say, but again, nothing comes out. The dark figure is still on top of him, hands wrapped around his throat. Jimin closes his eyes, hoping that when he opens them-the figure is gone. But of course, it isn't. This startles him even more, causing the blond to sit straight up on the bed with a horrifying scream. Sounds slowly starts to come back in and he can hear the heart monitor-how the beeps have quickened way more than they have for the past two days. He can hear the buzz of the air conditioner and the shuffling of his mother waking up. The door opens, a few nurses and doctors rush in. The noise becomes muffled and he flops back down on the bed, sleep taking over.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
"Jimin." "Jimin." "Jimin!" The pretty boy jolts awake. He feels his heart pounding in his chest. His throat is dry. He turns his head to the left and finds his mother. She looks worried.
It's daytime.
"You...you scared me last night. The doctors said it was a night terror..." It was more than that. "I don't understand. Did something trigger it?" Mrs.Park asks. Her eyes are wide and she places both of her hands on Jimin's shoulders. Jimin honestly doesn't know. Possibly the police officer or maybe just the phantom thought of his father coming to get him. Jimin shrugs his shoulders.
Mrs.Park nods. "Okay um...I'm gonna get something to eat. I'll tell the nurses that you're awake finally." Jimin's mother stands up and walks out of the room, glancing at her son at the last second. There, the blond waits on silence. The only noise is the buzzing of the lights and the footsteps outside.
"You're getting better with eating your meals! Before, you ate a little less than half. But now, you've almost cleaned your plate. Keep it up and you'll be out in just a few days!" the doctor said, a smile on her thin lips. She clutches a clip board between her chest and arms and then she goes and talk to Jimin's mother outside. Like she always does.
Don't get him wrong, he's excited to be finally getting the fuck out but-
Why are they always so secretive?
It's Jimin's last day at the hospital when Mrs.Park finally tell's Jimin what her and his doctor have been whispering about. He's been here for two weeks so the hospital allowed his mother to fetch him some regular clothes.
They're driving home (or so he thought) when he asks her. He collects himself. "W-w-what-t-t a-are y-you a-and th-th-the d-d-doc-c-ct-tor a-alw-ways-s-s-s t-t-ta-alk-k-king-g-g ab-b-bout-t-t?" he asks, no longer embarrassed about showing his voice to her. He had to talk here and there over the course of his week stay at the hospital.
Mrs.Park gulps, "Oh-um she was just telling me in detail about how you were doing..." she frets. She clearly isn't telling the truth. Jimin narrows his eyes. "W-w-what-t-t d-d-did-d-d sh-sh-she s-say-y?" he questions dubiosly. His mother shrugs, "Oh...just to make sure you didn't have any dangerous eating habits or anything of that sort."
Bullshit.
Jimin leaves it alone. He was begining to trust his mother. It looks like he might have to think about that decision some more.
"Jimin, we're here."
The blond awakes, a crick in his neck. He groans as he lifts his head up and massages the muscles there. The pretty boy unbuckles his seat belt and gets out of the car. He stretches and looks around.
Where exactly is here?
It looks like a middle class neighborhood, much like Jimin's. Except the houses here have more yard space. He opens the door in the back seat and reaches in to grab his bag full of a week's worth of clothes. Jimin closes the door and looks at his mother. Where are we? Mrs.Park sighs, "Your aunt's place." and starts moving up to the door. Jimin follows.
She rings the doorbell. After a few minutes, a short, slender woman answers the door with a smile. She embraces Mrs.Park in a warm hug. "It's been so long, Eunmi." She glances up at Jimin and smiles. When they break apart, Jimin and his mother take off their shoes and enter the home. Jimin looks around. It's a nice home. He feels out of place here and doesn't know where to put his stuff.
"Jimin, sit. I'll take your stuff to the room you'll be staying in." Jimin silently protests. His aunt insists and he can't really do anything cuz he wont speak. His aunt wonders off and comes back within a few minutes. She sits down next to Iseul and puts her hands on her sister's shoulders. "Tell me what happened."
"You haven't given him any help yet?!"
"I'm sorry. I tried- but Jooyoon-"
"I know." His aunt embraces his mother. "I shouldn't have yelled you." Jimin chews on his lip and glances down. He checks through his bag for his phone. Yoongi's probably been texting him nonstop or not. He opens the phone and makes a mental note to give his phone some type of password. He goes to the mesaaging app and clicks on the first and only contact that reads "Yoongi." He scrolls through the many messages.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
January 20, ????
Eunmi stares at the device in shock. She's been standing in her tiny, cooped up bathroom like that for about 2 minutes now. She can't believe this. How could she be so unresponsible and careless? She places the test with shaking hands down onto the counter and looks-just to make sure she read it right. The two blue lines stare back at her mockingly. "Jooyoon!""Jooyoon please open the door!"Eunmi sighs and paces around in a cicle. She shakes her hands to rid the nerves racking throughout her small body but they're still there. Reminding her that this is not a dream. It is in fact, real. The door opens abruptly. A handsome young man with disheveled hair and swollen lips opens the door. "The fuck do you want, Eunmi? I said I'd call you when I needed you.""No-I...I need to-it's important."Jooyoon frowns, "What could be so important that you had to waltz yourself over here and interrupt me while I'm...busy?"Busy. Sure.Eunmi gulps nervously. She taps her foot against the concrete and looks intently into the man's eyes. "Look, can we go inside and talk about this.""I already fucking told you. I'm busy.""This is urgent!" she looks behind Jooyoon's shoulder and notices someone around her age coming up to the door. "Ya know what? Never mind. I'll just tell you later."Eunmi turns on her heel and marches back to her car.
One Month Later
"You're pregnant?! Why didn't you tell me earlier?""I tried to! Remember? And I thought it was obvious!""No I just thought you were getting fat." An uncomfortable feeling sets in Eunmi's chest. She clears her throat. "So?"Jooyoon's eyebrows furrow. "So...?""What do we do?""What do you mean we? It's easy! Get rid of it." Jooyoon throws his hands in the air and drops them at his sides in anger. His whole body is tense.Eunmi looks at him in disbelief. "It takes two people to make a baby and I'm not getting rid of..."it""Jooyoon steps closer to her. His expression nothing short of angry. He grabs her arms and presses into the skin. Hard. Hard enough to leave ugly bruises. "You are getting rid of it and that is final."Eunmi's heart beat quickens and she struggles against his grip. "Jooyoon, you're hurting me. Let go." Tears pile up into her eyes.Jooyoon cocks a thick eyebrow. "I'm hurting you? I'm hurting you? You're hurting me!" You know what my parents will say if they find out? You know what they'll do? They'd disown me or-worse-marry us off!"Eunmi cowers into herself as much as she can. "That wouldn't be so bad. Them marrying us off..."Jooyoon snarls, "What the fuck do you mean? I'm too young for that shit and frankly, I don't wanna marry you."Oh.Of course he wouldn't.Because Eunmi comes from a low income family and Jooyoon comes from the opposite. This was only supposed to be a one night stand that turned into a friends with benifits situation but without the friends part. No strings attached arrangement. The young woman wasn't attached. She was tangled. Tangled into the other. Stuck in such a complicated knot.Yet, Eunmi still fell for him. Why? Under all of that "tough" exterior, she thought there was a soft side. A more gentle Jooyoon. She thought she could save him. Plus, she's always been into bad guys. But Jooyoon was no bad guy. He was evil.Pure evil.Blinded by love, Eunmi failed to see that. Joooyon laughs and looks at her in disbelief. "You thought I would want to marry you? You fell for me, hm?" He laughs again, this time more maniacally. "Why would I want to marry you? You come from nothing and you're just a toy I play with when I'm bored."A tear trickles down her soft skin. "Let go of me!" Jooyoon shoves Eunmi against the wall and stres into her eyes. "You better get rid of that thing whether it be legal or not but next time I see you...this bump better be gone."He lets go of her and storms out the door.
Three Months Later
She doesn't get rid of the baby and Jooyoon is infuriated. More thAn when she told him about said pregnancy. It's been collectively four months and Eunmi couldn't hide her belly with baggy clothing anymore. She's told her parents and sister and they've been supportive. But people on campus and Jooyoon's parents have not been."If you were going to get someone pregnant, why couldn't it be a girlfriend or at least someone who's middle class!" Jooyoon's mother shouts into his ear over the phone."I'm so dissapointed in you. You got some campus slut pregnant. At this rate, we should've married you off already." Silence. "Actually-""Mother, no! Please! I don't want to be married.""You should've thought of that beforehand! I'm talking to your father about this."The line goes dead. Jooyoon look at Eunmi with so much rage in his eyes. He walks over to Eunmi, who sitting on the couch. Looking so small despite her weight gain. "You should've gotten rid of it when I first told you!""That's illegal!""And? People do illegal abortions in hospitals all the time!"That's true but Eunmi also didn't get rid of the baby because she didn't want to. She liked the thought of raising a family with Jooyoon. She often fantisized about it. Living in a nice neighborhood. With a child or two. Maybe a dog or a cat. Them both having a job they wanted. She knew those were only dreams of hers but oh how she wished they were true. But they were only dreams. The two get married. There isn't even a ceremony or anything. Just a contract and a courthouse. She didn't even get a dress. But Eunmi's quite glad for that. She would be too embarrased. Mostly infront of Jooyoon's side of the family. She can almost feel the judgmental looks on her even though she never got to walk down the aisle. Her family never stops supporting her but Jooyoon's family never even tried. They give financial help and that's all. It's almost as if they don't exist to them. When the baby comes, it's hell."Ma'am I'm gonna need you to push."Good.GreatShe can do that. She's useful now.She does so, using all of her strength. It hurts. Burns.Once the baby's out, all of the tension is released out of her body and her pain is washed away when she lays eyes on him. They clean him up and hand her the baby."Hello." she says with a fond smile on her face. She holds in her arms all of her happiness. For this Jimin didn't know. He had always been confused on whether his mother loved him or not, with the way she would leave him to get beaten. But it was simply she was scared and in an abusive relationship. Unrequited love.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
They're on the road again. His mother wont tell him where they're heading. She's been very secretive throughout this whole process. He hates it. First, they head to an aunt's house that he hasn't seen in years and now they're back on the road.Jimin hopes it's not what he thinks it is.Ping.The pretty boy hastily grabs his phone from out of his pocket and checks the notification. Yooniealright Jimin smiles and hugs the phone close to his chest. He sighs and looks out the window. All he sees are trees and road. When Jimin awakes the car is still. A loud noise that sounds like a slam wakes him up completely. The blonde opens his eyes and rubs the sleep put of them, yawning in the process. He looks around in curiosity. There's a building. A big building. There's some cars and a few other places out in the distance but nothing too close to the facility. What is this place? Jimin is startled out of his thoughts when his mother knocks on his window. He unbuckles the seatbelt and opens the door. The pretty boy stretches his limbs with a high pitch groan and grabs his bag from his mother's arms. He follows her into the building which is very clean and smells nice. There's different rooms with huge windows. Out of curiosity, Jimin looks into the rooms. The people seem happy. "Hello! You must be Mrs.Park, and I take it this is your son?" Jimin turns around and eyes the woman. She has a genuine smile on her face and holds a clipboard tightly in between her arms. Jimin's mother nods and smiles. She offers her hand to the seemingly nice doctor and she shakes it. The pretty boy gulps-nervous. This better not be what I think it is. The doctor nods towards Jimin and says, "Let me show you around." with a hopeful tone. Jimin glances back at his mother. She nods but stands still. Guess I have no other choice. The place is nice. It's very spacious and there's alot of things to do. There's even an indoor garden. How neat is that? "Aaand this is where you'll be staying." she turns around on her heel with a smile. Jimin chews on his lip. "Oh-no don't be nervous. Everyone here is very kind and you'll be within your age group." She looks down at her clipboard. "It says here that you have a speech impairment." Jimin nods slowly. She makes a noise of affirmation and writes something down on her papers. "Okay, you're all set. You can go in if you want. Or stand awkwardly outiside. The choice is yours." With that, she walks off. Jimin stand there for a second and kicks at the ground. He doesn't look up. What is he doing here? Is this the reason why his mother was being so suspicious? The pretty boy sighs. I suppose I can't do anything about it.
Might as well just go in...
Bag by his side and head hung low, he walks slowly into the section? Room? Housing? A door opens from his left. A gasp and running. "Hi! You must be the new person they were talking about! I'm Hobi! Or-erm-well- my name is Jung Hoseok but you can call me Hobi." Jimin looks up to see a slim male a few inches taller then him. His aura was bright, as well as his hair. Jimin gives him-Hoseok- a smile, hoping that would count as a hello. "Ah, I see you're not much of a talker. My hyung used to be just like yo-" "Hoseok-ah! Leave the poor boy alone." A tall male with broad shoulders and a nice face walks up to the two. "Sorry about him. We don't get alot of new people very often. My name's Seokjin. But everyone else calls me Jin." Jimin smiles again and mouths, "Jimin." A puzzled look makes its way on Jin's face. "Are you mute?" Jimin scrunches his face up and turns his hand side to side. A way of saying: kind of. "Ahhh, I see. You're not the only one. Jungkook's just like you. He's the youngest. He's shy though so he probably won't come out till dinner." Jimin nods his head and looks around. Where's my room? "I guess Dr.Go didn't tell you how this works... They're basically dorms but bigger since it's only meant for one person. Your room is..." Jin leads him to a light blue door. "right here. Next to Soyeon's, actually. She's in her therapy session right now. She may seem scary but don't worry she's just a small little elf." The pretty boy smiles and mouths, "Thanks." The taller of the three pats Jimin lightly on the back "Oh, it's no problem and if you need anything, I'll always be willing to help. Hobi on the other hand..." Hoseok scrunches up his nose and growls, "Hey! I'm the one who greeted him." The two walk off, bickering like a married couple. Jimin takes a deep breath and twists the doorknob. The blonde opens the door and sets down his bags.
Hm, spacious.
He looks around the room-dorm-tiny house? There's a bedroom, a living room, bathroom, and kitchen. Jimin goes back to retrieve his bags and unpacks. Maybe it's not as bad as he thought.
Knock knock.
Jimin opens the door and is met with his mother. "Looks like you've already gotten pretty comfortable. That's good." It's awkward-when she sits down on his bed. Jimin wants answers. So he speaks up. "M-m-mom-m?" "Hm?" "W-w-wha-at-t-t-t a-am-m I-I d-d-d-doing h-here?"
