“Sorry Chat but I don’t like you that way. I... I love someone else”
The same sentence was playing on his head over and over again.
“It’s fine my lady... After all, I’m your partner and that’s pawsome right?" he answered, smiling.
"Chat-"
"See you later!”
He couldn’t handle it. He couldn’t handle seeing Ladybug’s face anymore. He couldn’t pretend that everything was fine and smile, that was Adrien’s job not Chat’s. He expected tears but he felt nothing. Like a body with no soul. He just ran. He ran until he couldn’t no more. Going home was not a option. Chat had never felt so alone since... since his mother...Loneliness scared him. And so he stooped. The fear overcoming his body. That’s when he saw a familiar light on a familiar balcony. Like a lighthouse guiding a lost sailor. Memories replacing emptiness. Good memories. A friend that could understand him. That was what he needed. “Are you ok Marinette?”“Yeah Tikki it’s just that Chat seemed strangely ok with me rejecting him today... It was weird”Marinette’s thoughts were interrupted by a sound on her balcony. “C-Chat?! Is there an akuma or...”“There’s nothing wrong.”Marinette stranged the serious tone in his voice. Something was obviously wrong and she would find out what. “Really?”“Yes...”“Can you at least look at me then?” Chat found it hard to face her for some reason, but when he eventually did, something unexpected happened. The moment he looked into her eyes he feelt so vulnerable, so... raw. And what he had hold to himself came through. Tears falling without warning. "I need someon-"Marinette immediatelly hugged him, so tight. “You have me Chat. You can count on me okay?” she started to cry as well, not quite sure why. But that didn’t matter. He did.“Please don’t cry princ...” Marinette covered his mouth with her hand. “Stop worrying about me. You’re the one who needs help now okay?. Come with me inside, let’s talk a little.” she said, slowly guiding him. When they entered her room, they sat on her bed and he couldn’t help but let out a small smirk.“What?”“Don’t you think our relationship is moving a little to fast? We didn’t even kiss yet!” Chat smirked yet again.Contrary to what he expected, Marinette let out a surprised laugh. “You wish!”And, in that moment, he realized how beautiful it sounded. How he wished to hear it again.“Do you... want to talk about it?" She asked quietly."What?"“Do you... want to talk about what happened?” She asked again. And Chat said everything. His feelings for Ladybug, her rejection, the way he felt...
Marinette listened carefully, trying to hide her guilt and sadness. She never expected Chat’s feelings to be so deep and tender. “I shouldn’t...” a tear escaped “ I shouldn’t be hearing this Chat. You didn’t have to do it.”“But I wanted to” he caressed her cheek, feeling the sudden need to make that tear disappear. I never want to be the reason why she sheds a tear, he realised. Now with a light blush on Marinette's face, Chat pulled back slightly, but the shivers on his hand remained somehow. “I was hurting and you helped me. Thank you, for real Marinette. You don't know how much it means to me.” Maybe neither did he. “Wait here” she said. When Marinette returned, she handed him a book “This is my Diary, all of my secrets" except the most important one she thought sadly "and... I want you to have it”“What? I-I can’t...”“Yes you can Chat. Please take it.”"But... why?" What does this diary have to do with anything?A tear escaped her as she smiled at him. "Please... I need you to have it. I-"This time Chat hugged Marinette. There is something she isn't telling me, something is missing. But seeing her like this... "Please don't cry princess. I will take it okay? I will treasure it with everything I have, I promise you."Marinette seemedly calmed down with that. She then looked in to his eyes, and he in to hers, softly caresing her cheek."Hey-" He then noticed that one of Marinette’s tears was falling and reaching her... lips. Her lips. “Don’t you think our relationship is moving a little to fast? We didn’t even kiss yet!” The thought appeared in his head. Maybe he wouldn’t fell so empty if...He slowly got closer to her. She probably didn’t even notice, but when she slowly looked down at his lips he just... Everything seemed to stop. The emptiness was far gone in that moment. Her lips were so soft and sweet, it made him feel like he was kissing a flower, the most beautiful, delicate flower that... he would damage NO NO NO NO Chat imediatly jumped back almost triping on himself. “SORRY, I... SORRY I DON’T KNOW... I DON'T KNOW WHAT... I shouldn't... I need to leave, I...” Chat then reached the stairs to her balcony.Marinette took some time to process the information. Chat... kissed me... and... it was... And now he was leaving-“WAIT!” Marinette grabbed his bell and accidentally pushed him against the wall with her. And the world stopped all over again.
That fire in her eyes... Where-
Marinette was the one kissing him this time. Deeply. A kiss that said everything and nothing at the same time. But jesus did he craved it, and apparentely she craved it as well. And so the need to be with each other keep them there, for God knows how long. “You..." Marinette was breathless, leaning her head on Chat's chest. But she wouldn't lift her face. "You should leave Chat, you must be tired.""What-"She steeped back. "You should go home."“Princess...” How did this even happen? How did he screw this up? Marinette then went downstairs. Not once looking in his direction. He was now alone, in her room.
And the emptiness came back all over again.
