“I think I’m going to participate in their archery challenge,” Buzz said. Buzz and Jessie had been watching a field get dressed for an archery competition from their spot at a balcony for a couple of minutes when Buzz said it.Jessie gave Buzz’s butt a pat with her hand and said, “But, Buzz, you’ve never shot an arrow before!” “And?” Buzz said. “You do realize that Hawkeye is going to be participating, right? The guy’s a master assassin with a bow and arrow,” Jessie said. “And Merida’s been doing archery her whole life, so are you sure?”“Babe, I’m Buzz Lightyear, I’m always sure,” Buzz replied, his eyes glinting with a slight smugness that only this man could do. She actually mouthed “I’m always sure” right along with him, because he had said it before. Or at least a version of him said it before. “And besides, Jessie, it’s like you say all the time…” he paused and then said the next four words with her at the same time, “Just go with it.”“Yup, I know,” Jessie said with a smile. “And it’s not about whether I win or lose,” Buzz said. “I just wanna compete.”She nodded. “Okay, then. I support you,” Jessie said with a smile. She then added, “Go tell Coulson and Bubbles that you’re gonna join in.” She paused and looked down, seeing that Cobra Bubbles was down there and yelled, “Hey Bubbles!”When Cobra did not respond to the calling of his surname, she exclaimed, “Hey Cobra!”That was when Cobra looked up from his spot towards her. “Put Buzz down for that archery challenge, okay? He wants in!” she exclaimed. Buzz nodded quietly at Cobra. Cobra nodded, which Jessie took as confirmation that he was going to do so. “You better get prepared then,” Jessie said. “Welcome to the Archery Challenge!” exclaimed Kiara cheerily. Kiara sat next to Charlotte and Belle, the former was practically bouncing in her seat, and the latter had decorative glasses on, because she could.“It’s a lovely day for some archery!” Kiara exclaimed.“Indeed it is!” Charlotte exclaimed. “Our friends have spent hours preparing this area for the challenge. Thank ya to Agents Coulson and Bubbles and all the others for putting this together! Give them some cheers, ya’ll!”The crowd cheered loudly.Including Jessie, who had chosen to sit next to Kronk and Megara (though she had literally just joined them, as she had been wishing Buzz luck). Kronk cheered with her, Megara was like, “Whoohoo,” in a sort of bored sort of way. When the cheering had died down, Megara had asked, “Hey, Jessie, where’s Buzz? I’m surprised he isn’t joined at the hip with you.” “Competing,” Jessie said. “Hercules?”“Same,” Meg replied with an eye roll.“Belle, explain how this competition will go!” Charlotte exclaimed.“The target’s rings are all indicative of how many points they are worth. The inner rings are worth more than the outer rings. You can get at most ten points for an arrow shot. There will be five shots per competitor. Highest scorer wins,” Belle exclaimed. “We have six competitors! They are: Robin Hood,” Kiara said.“Merida Dunbroch,” Charlotte said. “Mulan Fa,” Belle said. “Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye,” Kiara said. “Buzz Lightyear,” Charlotte said.“Hercules Zeusson,” Belle said. After each of the competitor’s names was mentioned, there was a pause for cheers, applause, or in Merida’s case bagpipes playing. Jessie cheered for Buzz with extra yodels. Finally, Belle said, “And we will go in that order.”Jessie appreciated having Kronk sitting next to her because the guy provided her some moral support in cheering Buzz on. The competition was enjoyable to watch. Robin Hood was showy and winked at the crowd. Jessie almost expected him to grab a lady out of the crowd and kiss her in a showy way like Howard Stark at the Stark Expo in Captain America. Merida made no show and stared at the target briefly before shot the arrows. Mulan also made no show, except to scoff loudly at her lowest score, but she made it better with her next scores that followed. Hawkeye’s arrows were inspected by Coulson and Bubbles (Kronk and Jessie could not help but giggle) to make sure that they weren’t exploding before he was allowed to go on. Jessie was pretty sure she heard someone shout, “Come on, let Legolas shoot!” Clint was the most gasp inducing as he had the most perfect tens.Jessie wasn’t nervous for Buzz, as she knew he was not in it for winning, but just for the pleasure of being part of it. She was proud of him regardless, just for being there. But, she and Kronk did hold each other’s hands as Buzz’s time with the target came up. Kronk was apparently rooting for Buzz too. Buzz did not manage to get a perfect ten on any of the shots (and he was the only one), but did get a fair score.Hercules also did well, even if the cheering section for him (Megara) was lackluster. In the end, the scores were as follows: Merida had a score of 49, Hawkeye had a score of 48, Robin Hood had a score of 47, Hercules had a score of 44, Mulan had a score of 43, and Buzz had a score of 37. And, in a show of good sportsmanship, every one of the competitors shook hands. In really did not matter who won or lost, it was a good challenge and an enjoyable show.“Good job to all of our competitors for competing,” Belle exclaimed later at the after-party. “You all did very well!”Jessie patted Buzz’s stomach. “I agree. You did well,” Jessie said. “Proud of you.”“Thank you,” Buzz replied.
