8 years earlier. The night of the war
“Run!” Yoongi yells at his little brother. The two Elders hold Yoongi’s arms back making it impossible for him to fight back. He struggles and wriggles to get out from their grasp but it’s no use, he’s been caught. Jimin stares at his older brother before he runs, he’s only gone for moments until Yoongi spots him again but what shocks him is how he’s already posed to shoot. Jimin draws back his arrow and releases, hitting one of the Elders right in the chest forcing them to the ground. This gives Yoongi the chance to reach for his dagger, only stabbing the second Elder in the leg before he’s able to run free. “What’s the matter with you!” Yoongi scolds his brother as he grasps his hand and drags him through the forest. “They would have taken you!” Jimin defends. “You probably killed him, that’s not in your nature!” Yoongi can’t believe what his 14 year old brother has just done. “I’ll do anything for people I love!” Jimin shouts as they run. Jimin is a light elf, they know love and passion from a young age, they mature faster and they truly are beautiful. Blonde hair and the bluest eyes you will ever see, Jimin has just that. He has the voice of an angel, skin a soft as what the clouds look in the sky. He was the definition of the perfect light elf, and that’s the problem right now. Yoongi keeps his grip tight on his baby brother as he just keeps running, he runs no matter how tired he is, no matter how much he feels like his legs will give out at any moment, he can’t stop. “Yoongi look out!” Jimin screams out but it’s too late, Yoongi collides with the body infront of him and all three of them fall to the floor, Jimin helping Yoongi up. “You’re him.” A voice speaks out and Yoongi looks up to meet eyes with another of his kind.“Please, I need to keep him safe.” Yoongi begs the man in front of him who only eyes up the situation. “He’s not of our kind, why would you bother?” The stranger asks. “He’s my brother.” Yoongi is now pleading with the tone in his voice and the stranger sighs. “Go.” He tells the two and Yoongi can only offer a bow as thanks as he rushes past the stranger with Jimin clinging on tight. Yoongi knows exactly where he wants to go and Jimin doesn’t complain, but when your entire village is in battle you probably wouldn’t even think of complaining when you’re running from it. Finding the familiar tree where vines have taken over, Yoongi is quick to push them aside and pull his brother into the small hole the tree created. They sit for a moment catching their breaths, trying their hardest to ignore the screams and cries for help that happen only meters away. “Yoongi what do we do?” Jimin brings Yoongi back to reality who can only stare at his brother, taking in every feature before he has to do what he knows is best. “I need to leave, we need to leave.” Yoongi states but Jimin shakes his head. “Mother is out there.” Jimin reminds Yoongi. “I can’t go back Jimin, don’t you get it, what’s happening is my fault.” Yoongi explains and Jimin shakes his head in denial. “But we’re brothers!” Jimin sniffs and Yoongi knows he’s about to cry. “They won’t believe that, this hasn’t happened in over a thousand years Chims, as far as they are concerned, the light elves kidnapped their own.” Yoongi’s heart breaks as he can only watch the tears fall down Jimin's rosy cheeks. This is where things are complicated, and how the family have been able to get away with it for as long as they have is some sort of miracle. They really are brothers, but they aren’t of the same kind. Jimin is a light elf, those made of pure goodness you could say, almost god like. They can’t lie, they aren’t supposed to kill and yet Jimin already did that and Yoongi hates himself for it because this wouldn’t have happened if he didn't get caught. Jimin is supposed to grow up being able to talk to animals, he can grow plants with his light magic, he brings life not takes it. This is where they are different. Yoongi is a dark elf, the evil of the elven kind. Over a thousand years ago this happened before, but the Elders stole the baby in the night and took its life away causing the mother to kill herself and the father to go insane from finding her body leaving the only other child to grow up alone, no one speaks about him though so Yoongi can’t tell his story.A light elf and a dark elf fell in love and as you would guess, they wanted a family. They hid their love until the the dark elf fell pregnant, she gave birth to two boys, one a light elf and the other a dark. The Elders don’t agree with the existence of dark elves and believe they only bring death and bad luck that their entire lives they just want to cause trouble and harm, that they only grow up to become monsters, so they had to get rid of this baby, hide the fact that these two elves crossed the border and allowed such a situation to happen. Yes that’s right, light and dark live on two separate borders, yes there are different villages within the borders but everyone knows where to stay and what line not to cross. As you can guess from the story that same thing that happened all those years ago happened again. This time it was his mother that was the light elf and his father the dark. They ran away together and snuck his father into the light elf border and managed to find a small home within the deeper end of the forest. Sadly Yoongi and Jimin's father died when a spell went wrong so this was something that sadly helped to keep Yoongi a secret. His mother would sneak to a dark merchant hidden in the forbidden parts of the woods, Yoongi doesn’t know how but this merchant was able to get human items to help mask his identity. Hair dye to keep his hair as blonde as Jimin's, and blue contacts to disguise his natural green eyes. Dark elves are known for their emerald eyes and jet black hair, but Yoongi’s mother was able to hide this side of Yoongi as he grew older. When Jimin was born Yoongi was so happy, naturally Jimin could wield a bow and arrow when he became older but Yoongi had to teach himself as it would be in his nature to know how to naturally wield daggers. When Jimin hit the age of twelve he liked to show off his tricks and even taught Yoongi who was then nearing fifteen. You can guess that if Jimin can talk to animals and make plants grow to his aid or just because he wants to that Yoongi's magic was not the same. Yoongi can manipulate animals to kill or do jobs for him, he’s naturally sneaky and good at stealing. When it comes to nature, he can kill those plants, he can grow thorn bushes truly showing what kind of nature he is really from, but somehow he got away with never showing his magic when Jimin would in front of his friends. So how did Yoongi get caught? His mother wasn’t able to get out to the merchant in time so Yoongi had been wearing a beanie while his roots began to grow out. The other light elves would make fun of his beanie and as you can guess, someone ripped it right off his head to reveal his black roots, that’s how they knew. The whole village cursed at him, called him the devil of their kind, tried to pull Jimin away from him which angered the older. He was thrown to the ground and beaten by the other kids his age until he lost a contact and a green eye was revealed. A dark elf that was clearly stealing from the light village at the time spotted this happen and blamed the lights for kidnapping Yoongi but of course that wasn’t true. In that time Yoongi and Jimin ran to their own home, they didn’t know where their mother had gone and news got around causing the dark elves to cross the border for taking one of their own, but they wouldn't listen to the two boys and one even tried to harm Jimin in the process. Everything is a slight blur but all the two boys know is that this is where they are now, Yoongi wiping his baby brother’s tears while Jimin stares up at his bruised older brother. “I’m going to break into the human city.” Yoongi decides. “Are you crazy!? You’re kind is forbidden! Only light elves that can offer development for humans and sign a contract to never return to the forest can go in there, they will kill you on the spot!” Jimin argues. “Jimin! I’m pretty sure a war is about to break out between our two kinds, we can all get out of here!” Yoongi tries and Jimin once again shakes his head. “You know mother won’t come, not when we have nothing to offer and no life to enter within the walls.” Jimin reasons and Yoongi sighs. “T-then I’ll go, I’ll create a life for us in there, I’ll come back for you both, Jimin you know the elven world is wrong, humans have so much more inside those walls.” “And humans kill our kind with those things they call guns, they are worse than your kind.” Jimin’s words don’t hurt Yoongi because he knows dark elves are bad, but Yoongi also has grown up tired of all the elven rules, if he could get away with living within the Human walls, they would have so much more freedom.“Jimin, I can’t stay here, and there’s no way you’re spending your life here too, if there is a war about to happen...I can’t have you and mother suffering with it.” Yoongi is desperate but Jimin is stubborn. “Promise you’ll come back…” Jimin’s voice is now a whisper, Yoongi can only lean forward and place a kiss to his brothers head. “Always.” Yoongi reassures him. Jimin let’s a smile onto his face but that only falls when he sees Yoongi each for his dagger stored in his boot. “What are you doing?” Jimin asks but Yoongi doesn't answer, Jimin can only whimper when Yoongi lifts up his own shirt and slides the dagger across his stomach, letting blood cover the blade as he bites his lip to prevent himself from revealing his pain. “T-take this, tell them you killed me and pushed my body over the sacred cliff. They wouldn’t bother to search” Yoongi tells Jimin who is crying harder. “O-okay.” Jimin takes the dagger into his own hands. Yoongi looks down to see the blood seeping through his shirt. “I guess this is goodbye baby brother.” Yoongi keeps strong, making sure to keep his own tears back to make sure he is still someone Jimin can look up to. “I love you.” Jimin whispers before launching himself into Yoongi’s arms and that’s when Yoongi has to let his guard down and let his tears fall. “I love you too. Take care of our mother, and yourself, I’ll come back.” Yoongi promises and Jimin nods into his neck. “I’ll check here when I can.” He tells Yoongi and the two break apart. Screams make Jimin flinch and the two realise they aren’t too far from them. Yoongi ruffles Jimin’s hair one last time, scans his face one last time and makes sure to wipe the tears that have fallen down his cheeks before he makes sure to smile before he has to tear his eyes away from his brother and run from their old hiding place, now running he has to live life on his own. He’s not ready for it, but he’s made a promise to Jimin that he will create something better for them, so that’s what he will do. It’s not like he could apologise for being born and everything would be calm again and he could continue living in his own land, that won’t happen, so now he sets off alone. Starting by finding that merchant and getting into the city of Humans. ---------------------------------------------
Present time. 8 years later.
Slamming his fist onto his alarm clock Yoongi makes an end to the annoying buzzing he has to hear every single morning. After a long stretch and one last yawn he swings his legs off his bed so his feet land on his soft cream carpet. Rubbing at his eyes he stands up and makes his way over to his joined bathroom, the first thing he does is wash his face before looking at himself in the mirror. His emerald eyes stand out the most almost like they have some sort of glow to them before he finally manages to slip on his blue contacts. He ruffles his black hair noticing it needs to be washed before sighing and making his way over to his shower. Now Yoongi only got away with his natural hair when he randomly just dyed it black one day, of course people look at his eyes when they see an elf with black hair walking around, but his city ID is also a picture of him with his blonde hair at the time, so now people just presume he dyes his hair black, way less hassle than the damage and upkeep of staying blonde. Yoongi can’t help but reach for the marshmallow body wash, he just wants it to be winter so he can carry a hot chocolate to work rather than a coffee and of course it had to have marshmallows so this is just him settling is his craving. It’s times when he stands in the shower he remembers back to his past, shuddering when he thinks of how long it’s been. The issue is he can barely manage to live on his own in his tiny studio apartment, most of his money he has saved away but that’s still not enough for a family home, he’s been working the same boring office job for years and just prays he can get a promotion, but now he’s thinking it’s been 8 years too long. He shakes his head to rid himself of these thoughts first thing in the morning and continues on with washing his hair before finally forcing himself away from the warm water, wrapping a towel around his waist and returning to his room to blow dry his hair. His hair always ended up styling itself and he was kind of enjoying the fluffy look he had to his hair so he just kind of rolls with that daily. Making his way to his wardrobe he pulls out the usual white button up shirt and black tie, along with his black suit trousers and the smart boots to complete the look. A typical office worker. Only his office was in one of the most successful magazine companies building so he had to look the part. Finding his name badge he pins it to his shirt once he’s finally fully dressed and makes his way to his small kitchen to make himself some toast, while waiting he checks his emails and sighs when his boss is already giving him orders at 7AM. He already knows it’s printing day.He still tries to enjoy his time on his phone, texting his friend Hoseok and checking in on Namjoon who he knows will wake up to his messages so he’s not expecting a reply. Throwing his plate into his sink he grabs his blazer which he basically never wears anyway but hey there might be a breeze, and heads out of his apartment and onto the street. When he first began trying to live inside the human walls he gained a lot of looks, he wore casual clothes and clearly didn’t know how to live in the city so he was definitely frowned upon. Now however his name is a little more known after the years of living here, people still looked at his ears but when you’re walking down the street in a suit minus the blazer people gain a lot of respect for you, and it’s not like Yoongi has done anything to make the humans hate him, that was all on their own opinions of his kind, if only they knew his true kind though. He wouldn’t be alive right now.He makes his way to the usual coffee shop that was on the route to work, being greeted with a friendly smile and small conversation by the young barista that clearly had a crush on him, she always drew a little heart on his cup but she knew he wasn’t interested, now it just became a little thing that brought a smile to his face on these early mornings. Yoongi can see the building from quite a distance, tall, very tall and pretty much all glass with the companies name written in big letters on the top of the building. He sips at his hot coffee as he makes his way closer to the building, it’s not that he hates his job, he just hates most of the people he works with because they clearly have a problem with an elf in the building, it’s not like Yoongi is the only one there, however they don’t like that Yoongi will talk back, which isn’t in a light elves nature but they don’t exactly question it when he’s a registered light elf living inside the human walls. His personality screams he’s not a light elf but clearly he humans don’t do their research.Walking inside the building he’s greeted by the two receptionists at the desk, one of them always blushing when he walks in. “Morning ladies.” He can’t help but smile when they giggle and give a small wave. He walks into the elevator pressing the button that will take him all the way to the 25th floor, having to wait while others came and went on his small travel. Once arriving he makes his way to his little desk, it’s out on the open area of all people at his level within the business, he simply prints the pages and orders them, not really a grand job but it’s something, so he’s thrown out into the open office area where there’s too much noise and people too busy up there own asses to care about anyone around them, oh how Yoongi would love to have one of those pretty looking glass cased offices he can see around him, he seriously needs a promotion. “Yoongi!” The one voice he dreads speaks up as soon as Yoongi takes a seat. “Can I help you Jake?” Yoongi asks, his tone neutral. “I need to head out for a moment, do me a favour and print off my load with yours, I’ll grab you a coffee?” Jake tries but Yoongi Knew this guy was just lazy, but hey free coffee. “Sure…” Yoongi still keeps neutral and Jake gives him a thumbs up as he sneaks away from doing his own work, asshole. Yoongi glances over to jakes desk where he sees the small little flower pot his girlfriend got him. He can’t help it when he checks around himself before focussing on the little planted bit of life, it doesn’t take long for the petals to fall and the flower to wilt until it’s completely dead. Yoongi hates Jake. “Yoongi.” A voice he doesn’t expect calls out and looking across the room Yoongi sees his boss poking out of one of those glass offices all to himself, gesturing him to come over. Yoongi obeys and makes sure he places his coffee down before making his way over to the office, his boss holds the door open before they both walk inside, Yoongi feeling more happy as the door closes and the noise from outside is cancelled out. “Can I help you sir?” Yoongi is friendly towards his boss, not just because he has to be, but because he isn’t a total dick like most people that work here. “I noticed you playing with some of the magazine clippings the other day, laying them out and playing with how things are styled inside our recent issue.” He boss mentions.“I wasn’t slacking…” Yoongi tries to joke and lucky for him he gets a laugh out of his boss, close one. “Actually, I was going to say it looked good, gave the issue a more fun look rather than the most boring layout I’ve seen.” His boss surprised Yoongi and right now he’s praying this is the moment he’s been waiting for. “Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that.” Yoongi smiles and the two of them chuckle. “I think we should get you out of that area, if you can make the magazine look like that with that noise going on I’m wondering how you could do with no noise and your own space.” Yoongi is liking where his is going. “As you know one of our editors will be leaving this week, I’m thinking you can have her office, I think you’d do great being in charge of how we lay things out on our pages, it even made me want to read it again.” His boss admits. “Are you serious right now?” Yoongi asks earning a chuckle from his boss. “Completely, I treat you like any other in this building, I know some people have their judgements but I wasn’t raised that way, plus if you’re in charge of having to layout a whole magazine you might need an extra hand here and there so I could easily get you one of the interns from a few floors down to be your assistant, get you some old issues to play around with and help you out with organising for new issues, sound good?” Yoongi only blinks at his bosses words. “It sounds amazing sir, I’d love it!” Yoongi sits with a wide smile on his face, he got just what he was hoping, screw you Jake and your weird potted plants.“Great! I’ll get you all moved into your office tomorrow, have a word with the interns downstairs and get you going, I believe you’ll do us well.” His boss holds out his hand and Yoongi of course shakes it, sealing their new deal. “What about contracts sir?” Yoongi suddenly remembers.“I’ll have your new one written up this week, I’ll email it over when it’s ready.” His boss confirms and with that they are both done and Yoongi leaves the office in the best mood he’s been in for a very long time. ——————————“This calls for celebration!” Hoseok high fives his friend and Yoongi’s eyes grow wide when he places two shot glasses on the bar. Sometimes he wonders if being best friends with a bartender is a good idea. “You know I still have work tomorrow right?” Yoongi chuckles. “It’s just one, it won’t even affect you.” Hoseok pours out two shots and Yoongi rolls his eyes. “Fine.” He raises up his little glass and Hoseok clinks them together before the two take back their shots, screwing their faces up when sensation hits them. “How many times do you get told not to drink on shift.” A new voice sounds and Yoongi turns round to greet Namjoon. “Hello to you too.” Hoseok grumbles, only making Namjoon chuckle. Namjoon places his blazer on the chair as he takes a seat next to Yoongi. “Got your text, congratulations.” Namjoon smiles at his friend. “Finally, and office to myself and no more lazy assed Jake.” Yoongi is more than happy making his two friends laugh. “You even get an assistant.” Hoseok wriggles his eyebrows. “Okay I can already tell what you’re thinking and no.” Yoongi stops him. “Oh come on, you could end up with some hot girl, and you know…” Hoseok hints again. “Not interested.” Yoongi shakes his head. “Poor Yoongles, when will he get laid.” Namjoon plays along. “I’ve been laid thank you.” Yoongi argues and the two men laugh. “That was like a year ago.” Hoseok speaks rather loud making Yoongi reach over and slap him round the arm. “I’m content with myself and my new glass office thank you.” Yoongi defends himself. “Next thing we know you’ll be marrying that office.” Namjoon teases. “Come on, let’s stop teasing the man.” Hoseok speaks while he’s pouring a pint for someone. “You heard him.” Yoongi nudges Namjoon who just shakes his head with a smile wondering how he’s friends with the two men. ——————————-“And breathe!” Yoongi tells himself once he takes a seat. He can’t help but smile to himself now he’s cleaned up his area a bit and can now glance around the office he can call his own, not to mention the view of the city is pretty awesome but there is one thing he notes. He can see the trees over wall. Those trees aren’t near a village and he knows that, but he doesn’t know how he feels looking out and being able to see the place he left, and never returned to, his family must hate him. The worst thing is he doesn’t even know if they made it, Jimin, his mother, are they even still there? Yoongi is too lost in his thoughts that he almost flies ten feet out of his chair when a magazine is thrown onto his desk. “The Hell!?” He exclaims looking up to see someone he’s never met before. He’s a bit young isn’t he? This boy stands with his fluffy brown hair, wearing a simple black turtleneck along with trousers similar to Yoongi but way tighter, He wears a lanyard with his ID hanging on it but Yoongi can’t read the name.“You need to look through the last issue of our magazine and see what can be changed to the layout, also I stole some of our competitions magazines so you can see what we are up against.” The boy speaks and if Yoongi is honest, he has no idea what’s going on right now.“Hold on, first of all, who the hell are you?” He finally asks when he gets the chance. “Oh...I’m Jungkook, your new assistant.” The boy, Jungkook finally gives Yoongi an answer. “I’m Yoongi…” Yoongi could slap himself because he’s pretty sure Jungkook would know that. “I know, and I’m not a fan either.” He speaks as he walks towards the door. “Excuse me?” Yoongi can’t help but sound a little annoyed. Jungkook places his hand on the door handle before looking right at Yoongi. “I never thought I’d have to take orders from a knife ear.” He speaks before leaving the room and leaving Yoongi completely speechless. This was going to be fun.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

“Wipe the smile off your face.” Yoongi glares at Hoseok. “I’m sorry but only you would get an assistant that already hates you.” Hoseok responds and Yoongi just sighs. Something he does way too often. “Maybe his parents raised him to hate elves…” At Namjoon words Yoongi stares at him with a blank expression. “Maybe people should stop presuming we are evil.” Yoongi says but then realises what he is. But he also doesn’t realise the truth behind Jungkook, not yet. “It’s because of the dark elves that broke into the wall years and I mean so many years ago and some of them killed humans…” Namjoon remembers and Yoongi tries to keep his posture natural. “Do you think they are all bad?” Hoseok asks. “Maybe not…” Namjoon mumbles. Would they judge Yoongi if they found out? For now he’s not even going to think about his true self being known. He has other concerns. “Moving on, how’s the fancy new office?” Hoseok asks, Lucky for him the pub is pretty empty so he can pass time talking to his two friends and actually enjoying his time at work. “Oh the office is great, the assistant however…” Yoongi balls his hand into a fist earning laughs from his two friends. “I was hoping it would be some hot girl and it could be like those porn movies, you and the assistant.” Hoseok trails off. “What is wrong with you!” Yoongi ends up laughing. “Elves don’t have gender preferences if I’m right?” Namjoon suddenly pipes in. “No we didn’t grow up with those rules but don’t even go there.” Yoongi warns and Namjoon smirks. “That would be interesting.” Hoseok joins in. “I’m going home.” Yoongi sighs. Setting his head on the bar he feels one of his friends ruffle up his hair with a chuckle. ————————————------Yoongi plays with the small stone that hangs from his necklace while waiting for the meat to finish cooking. He got home about an hour ago and instantly got ready to begin making himself some food, he isn’t the best cook but he makes a few decent dishes he enjoys to eat when he has the time to cook them. Yoongi does have a habit of always playing with the little gem that hangs from the delicate silver chain around his neck while he was thinking or waiting around. He keeps this tucked down his clothes and you can’t see it wearing a shirt and tie anyway when he’s not in the comfort of his own home. The stone was bright blue, the colour of his beloved brothers eyes. The two found it when they snuck off to the sacred river one day, it was embedded into the small tiny rock Jimin found near the waterfall. Yoongi smiles remembering an eight year old Jimin running over with the biggest smile on his face. They took the rock home and their mother spent her time delicately removing the stone, and since then Jimin kept it in his pocket.A few days before everything happens all those years ago, Yoongi had an archery test and Jimin gave him the precious stone for luck, once in the human walls and once having money Yoongi took the stone to a jeweller, the stone was Elven so he offered a lot of money and maybe Yoongi should had taken it, but this was all he had of Jimin so he asked for it to be made into a necklace. For a moment Yoongi’s mind wanders into the darker corners and a thought pops into his head. Jimin must hate him. A beep of the timer brings Yoongi back to the real world once again as he lets the stone fall back to his chest so he can finally finish creating his meal for the evening. Just as Yoongi sits himself alone at the tiny table he owns his phone pings. He knows the sound to be of an email so instantly checks it and the sight makes him groan, not because of the message, but because of who it’s from.
From: [email protected]To: [email protected]
I’ve been told to tell you that five pages of layouts need to be designed and sent today to be approved for the meeting tomorrow. Yoongi reads the email, it’s blunt, there’s no regards or any kind of signature like everyone else would leave. This kid hates Yoongi and in a way Yoongi wants to prove to him that elves are not what he thinks, but this kid would probably kill him if he knew of his dark elf nature. He turns the sound off on his phone just for while he eats his meal before thinking about doing some extra work at home to make sure he won't feel as rushed tomorrow to get these pages to the editor. Which if he remembers correctly is also another new person. He eats his meal and makes sure to clean everything up before settling down with the TV as background noise while he sprawls out some magazines and uses his laptop to do the official next issue and play around with the layout to what he think would make everything look more appealing to read. ————————————------------His morning is like any other, wake up, shower, make sure to put his contacts in before grabbing an apple and leaving to take the route to the usual coffee shop. Once there his favourite barista doesn’t seem to be on shift so he doesn’t get the usual heart drawn on his cup but that’s ok, he still gets himself a sweet treat to snack on later. He makes his way to the tall glass building, waving at the receptionists before getting in the elevator and stepping out on his floor. He can’t help the smug look on his face when he gets to walk straight to his own office. Only that look is quickly gone. “You have a meeting with the new editor in an hour.” Jungkook speaks while swaying side to side in Yoongi’s office chair. Yoongi wasn’t going to keep up some friendly act. “Get out of my chair.” The time in his voice is harsh and Yoongi swears Jungkook is shocked at this only to re-adjust himself and take a stand from the chair. “You should get me a desk in here.” The younger speaks and Yoongi actually scoffs. “Wouldn’t you rather roam the building than sit in this office...With an elf.” Yoongi spits out those last few words, mimicking the hate he’s received many times before when his nature is mentioned. “I’d rather have a different job but this one pays well, and all the other assistants share the offices with their...yeah.” “The word you're looking for is partner.” Yoongi says while typing out his account details to login to his computer. “Please don’t.” Jungkook groans. “You know what kid, I don’t know what you’ve been told, but don’t act like I’m like those elves I know you’ve been taught about.” Yoongi Finally says it and Jungkook doesn’t respond, Yoongi is right. “You are all the same…” Jungkook speaks Finally. “Light and Dark idiot, you’ve been taught about Dark.” Yoongi corrects the boy. Nothing is said and this makes Yoongi glance up only for Jungkook to stare at his eyes for a moment before breaking away his gaze. “I have blue eyes, I’d be dead if I walked into this city with green eyes.” Yoongi knows what the boy is thinking. “Your kind shouldn’t be allowed here anyway. You’re only going to use that...magic of yours to take the city for yourselves.” Jungkook really won't stop and Yoongi is losing his will to not murder him. “Yes I’m going to grow pretty flowers and trees and take over the world…” Yoongi snaps back at the boy. “Now you’re my assistant, get out and go get me the clippings for the wedding page.” He orders. “Go fuck yourself.” Jungkook mumbles under his breath before leaving the office. Okay so maybe Yoongi should have kept calm because he’s clearly made an enemy, but the boy still has to do what Yoongi tells him and ten minutes later he does indeed return, throwing a folder onto the elven man’s desk before storming back out of the office. ——————————“Come in.” A soft voice speaks after Yoongi knocks on the office door. He can’t help but bow slightly when he enters the room. Looking up he’s greeted by a man with a soft smile. “Min Yoongi correct?” He asks and Yoongi walks over to the chair the man gestures towards. “Yes sir…” Yoongi confirms as he takes a seat. “Just call me Jin, I hate the formal thing.” Jin Who Yoongi has now learned says to him. “Right, sure. Nice office.” Yoongi comments and Jin laughs. “The big boss told me you had a thing with these offices.” Jin teases and Yoongi smiles, he likes him already. “Can I ask why I’m here?” Yoongi decided to question why he was asked to meet with the new editor. “Although of course everyone has their own job and at the end of the day I still edit all the work and whatnot, but you create the layout, I finalise it, so we will actually be working together a lot so I wanted to meet you.” Jin informs him and Yoongi nods along as he speaks. “Then it’s nice to meet you…” Yoongi offers a smile which Jin returns. Silence fills the room for a moment and Yoongi doesn’t actually know what to do with himself until Jin glances out of his window. “Scary huh?” He suddenly speaks and Yoongi glances out of the window to follow his gaze. “The wall?” Yoongi asks. Jin nods. “We know what they are trying to keep out, but isn’t scary how they are also keeping us trapped in here, once you’re an elf that’s in, you stay am i right?” Jin asks and Yoongi is surprised he’s asking him this. “Yes...Uh I signed a contract and all that stuff so...I can’t leave. And if I tried to well, you see the electric fences on the top of the walls and the men guarding it with guns..” Yoongi stares at the small blocks on the walls where a guard would be standing doing his job right now. “I heard rumours that there are other cities like this, all walled up.” Jin speaks and this gets Yoongi’s interest. “The forests go on for...days, this was the closest to me.” Yoongi admits. There’s something about this Jin guy that for some reason Yoongi feels like he can talk to him. He gives off this aura he knows but he can’t place. “Anyway, it was nice to talk to you Yoongi, I look forward to working with you.” Jin is now back into his professional manor and Yoongi tears his gaze from the window to look at Jin and nod. “Likewise.” Yoongi makes the first move to hold his hand out which Jin gladly shakes, it’s in this moment that Yoongi can’t help but notice that Jin has a unique eye, one eye is fully brown, but one is brown with the smallest amount of blue. Yoongi realises he’s still shaking Jins hand so he’s quick to let go before giving an embarrassed smile and rushing out of the office as fast as he could. ——————————------------“Aaaaaand send.” Yoongi speaks to himself, finally he has sent his work along to Jin ready for the meeting tomorrow where the next pages will be discussed and the layout will be confirmed or not. “This is a joke still right?” The voice Yoongi has been trying to block out speaks up from the corner of his office.Turns out when it comes to playing pranks, Jake isn’t so bad. Yoongi bumped into him after the small meeting with Jin when an idea popped into his head, and now here he is. “You wanted a desk.” Yoongi gives a fake friendly smile only making Jungkook glare at him. “This.” Jungkook points to his ‘desk’. “This is a fucking coffee table, from the cafeteria! The chair is also broken.” He points out, able to rock side to side with ease. “A desk is a desk.” Yoongi shrugs. “Oh if only murder was legal.” Jungkook grumbles to himself. “Go outside of the walls, it is.” Yoongi remembers. “I’m sure you would know.” Jungkook looks right into Yoongi’s eyes this time and he almost snaps. “You don’t know what life was out there, don’t ever say shit about it.” Yoongi’s tone is so calm it’s scary and that becomes clear when Jungkook looks away and says nothing in return. Is Jungkook what he makes himself out to be?For the rest of the day Yoongi slowly waits for complete articles to come through so he can add them on to the next page, setting it all out but this time only saving the work as theses pages don’t need to be reviewed yet. Jungkook hasn’t said anything and Yoongi knows he must be bored with nothing to do, so he decides to send him on a coffee and snack run. “Snacks?” Jungkook asks. “Yeah, coffee and snacks.” Yoongi tells him. “So I’m officially your little bitch…” Jungkook sighs. “Well I was going to give you money to get something for yourself too but I didn’t want to taint you with my elven touch.” Yoongi knows how much Jungkook hates elves so only likes to push him about it. “Just give me the money.” Jungkook holds out his hand and Yoongi smirks already having an idea in his head. He makes sure his skin touches Jungkook, grabbing his hand as he lets the money fall into his palm, watching as the human boy glares at the skin contact. “Be quick.” Yoongi gives one last smile before sending Jungkook on his way with a note of his coffee order but forgetting the snack he wanted. ———————————Indeed Jungkook was fast, placing the large takeaway cup on Yoongi’s desk and even a few sugars shocking the elf. What shocks him further is when a small paper bag is placed down before Jungkook walks over to his small coffee table to sip at his own drink and take out his own snack, he opted for a chocolate muffin. Yoongi reaches for his own bag and peaks inside, he forgot to tell Jungkook what he wanted so when he sees the chocolate croissant inside he speaks up. “Did you just pick this randomly?” He asks and Jungkook glances up. “You had one yesterday.” Jungkook shrugs before biting into his muffin. Yoongi wonders if there was ever a way to make Jungkook realise he was raised knowing false tales of elven culture. It didn’t matter right now because Yoongi was in no place, nor did he want to even try and teach Jungkook the truth. ————————-Yoongi couldn’t help it, not after today. He completely skipped out on meeting at Hoseok's pub with Namjoon to come to the wall. It was quite a walk but he just wanted to be close, scan it even. Getting outside after how things have advanced over the years is near impossible so how would Yoongi even be able to find Jimin and his mother. Yes maybe Jimin could have also tried to get into the walls himself, He is a light elf after all, but that’s also the problem, he believes so much in the elven world that of course he’d stay in it until Yoongi fulfilled his promise. “Excuse me sir.” A voice sounds from behind him so he turns on his heels to come face to face with one of the many armed guards. “You know you shouldn’t be this close to the wall…” This guard seems young, he’s not being harsh like most so Yoongi decides to respect him. “Of course, I’ll be on my way.” Yoongi offers a smile and he catches the ghost of a smile on the guards lips before turning away and beginning his long walk back to his shitty apartment. A night alone sounds good. He’s decided to make some plans on how to save more money, and maybe look into other ways of making more without it being illegal. ————————With a sigh Yoongi sits on his couch, he embraces his clean feeling now he’s finally showered, also deciding to let his hair dry naturally so he doesn’t have to actually try and style it tomorrow if he blow dried it instead. “This is going to be depressing.” He speaks to himself as he loads up his laptop and goes on to his banking website to check what funds he has saved already.Biting his lip once his balance is revealed a moment of failure washes over him. In the moment the little pot full of soil where he tried to see if he could keep something beautiful and delicate alive begins to grow a mini branch of thorns. “Stupid emotions.” Yoongi scolds himself. “Stupid...fucking nature magic.” He glares at the small branch of thorns that grew with no flowers in sight. He’s about to go online to have look into getting a job at a pub or club at night, as much as that would mess up his body clock and health, however there’s a sudden knock at the door that makes Yoongi jolt. “W-who is it?!” He shouts as he rushes to the bathroom. “Hoseok! Can I come in?” Hoseok asks from the other side of the door. Yoongi is in panic mode, he was not ready for this as he fumbles with the box of contacts. “Just a second!!” He yells back. He makes sure to get in his contacts at a fast speed and ignores how his eyes look a little red.Rushing from the bathroom he acts as natural as possible, greeting his friend with a smile once he tries to open the door like he wasn’t just running around like a mad man. “First question...Have you eaten?” Hoseok asks Yoongi who responds by shaking his head no. “Then I come bearing food, shitty unhealthy food but considering you didn’t come to the bar tonight with Namjoon I’m going with you need it.” Hoseok rambles for a little making Yoongi chuckle. “Always got time for takeaway food, but shouldn’t you be at work?” Yoongi asks as he steps aside and Hoseok walks in, as always going to the kitchen to plate up the food just like the many other times he’s visited. “I asked they guy I was working with if he was good alone, it really wasn’t busy.” Hoseok informs Yoongi. Hoseok has always been caring about others and the fact he’s missing out on some money to see if Yoongi was okay warms his heart. “One more.” Yoongi points to the chicken strips that Hoseok is currently plating up. “Greedy.” His friend chuckles, still giving him the extra piece though. They make their way over to the couch where Hoseok turns on the TV and they both begin their food for a moment, Yoongi notices Hoseok glance at his laptop but doesn’t question why he’s on the banking site or has tabs open about jobs and earning more money. “So do you want me to question why you skipped out?” Hoseok asks. “Not really.” Yoongi responds honestly and so Hoseok doesn’t push it any further. This is another thing Yoongi appreciates about the man next to him.“Oh yeah how’s the job?” Hoseok asks instead. “I want to kill my assistant how’s that?” Yoongi replies and Hoseok chuckles. “Aside from him?” “Then I like it.” Yoongi smiles a little, he likes he has more involvement into the magazine now and he does get a little more money on top of that which is a huge thing for him. Hoseok smiles fondly at his friend seeing that he does at least enjoy something about his job. “I gotta pee.” He suddenly announces and stands up though. “You don’t have to announce it.” Yoongi groans mid way about to eat his chicken. Hoseok laughs as he disappears off to Yoongi’s room to use the attached bathroom, he’s been here enough times that Yoongi doesn’t mind the fact that he has to go through his bedroom to reach the bathroom. In this time Yoongi finishes his last bite and takes both used plates to his kitchen to clean up later before returning to the couch, scrolling through his phone while Hoseok is gone. Only his relaxing time doesn’t last long. “Who are you?” Yoongi jolts at Hoseok's voice, he was so quiet entering the room again but his question makes Yoongi frown, that is until he turns to face his friend. He stands holding the one thing Yoongi didn’t hide because the idiot was in such a rush, and now he just wishes the ground would swallow him up and never let him back out again. “Hoseok…” Yoongi tries but he’s cut off. “Why do you have blue contact lenses? Wait...No I’m seeing things right, these are just...Clear lenses.” Hoseok seems to be talking more to himself right now and it’s obvious that there is slight panic in his voice, but there’s also disappointment. Yoongi watches as Hoseok reads the box over and over again, but no matter what the lenses are still blue. “I don’t understand, how did you...Yoongi I don’t understand.” Hoseok keeps talking and Yoongi knows at this point he must have so many questions. “I’m just waiting for you to run away. Or call the city guards on me” Yoongi speaks up and admits what he’s always deard might happen, to this Hoseok locks eyes with him. “I’m hurt I didn’t know, and confused as hell because how did you get away with it, they can’t be this dumb.” Hoseok gestures to the box and surprisingly Yoongi chuckles. “I did something stupid as hell to get into these walls Hoseok...And most people would say they wish they could take it back, but I don't.” Yoongi begins. In this moment Hoseok moves closer to Yoongi, eventually sitting down on the couch with him to show he’s not going anywhere. “What you’ve heard about Dark elves, ignore it, I’ll be honest with you and tell you the real stuff. One thing we can do is we can call upon animals and get them to do things for us, usually kill.” Yoongi bites his lip. It takes a moment but Hoseok finally speaks. “It’s okay, you can tell me.” He shows his support, no matter what Yoongi has been his best friend and proven to him with who he has been all these years that elves are not what you hear about and that you should give them a chance before you judge them. “I was seriously hurt, self inflicted I mean but I had to get in these walls Hobi, I made a promise to someone that I could create a life for us in here away from all the elven shit. There was this wolf and I made sure the guard got suspicious enough of me that he had to come down from his tower before I told the wolf to attack…” Yoongi reveals and Hoseok can see just how important this person is to Yoongi who he made a promise to that maybe he would do anything too for someone like that. “I ran before I could confirm if he was killed or not, before anyone got alerted I got inside, you knew me with blonde hair which helped a lot on my half and I bought blue contacts and fresh dye from the merchant in the forest, I simply acted like an injured light elf once I got inside the walls and somehow they bought it, I was seventeen I guess they didn’t think much of it at the time. You already know my story of making it work in this city, you just didn’t know who I really was, I’m so sorry I lied.” Yoongi’s eyes are pleading for forgiveness and Hoseok can only smile.“You’ve never done anything wrong in my books, but this person must mean a lot to you, who is it?” Hoseok asks and Yoongi smiles just remembering those cute cheeks and bright blue eyes. “My brother.” Yoongi reveals. “Shit, you have a brother…” Hoseok puts a few pieces together, he always sensed that Yoongi seemed lonely, like he was missing something. “He’s a Light elf, my mother and father fell in love and wanted children, my father was a dark elf and my mother a light. I was their first born and they did everything they could to make sure I grew up with the right life, protected from hell breaking loose basically, my mother dyed my hair from that same merchant, she got me contacts and I was taught how to be a Light elf, I’m shit at Archery.” Yoongi chuckles and so does Hoseok finally getting to hear some of Yoongi’s past. “However I got found out, to put things simple it’s my fault there’s an elven war...Mine. It’s been eight years Hobi my brother, my mother...I’ve left it too long to save them…” Yoongi is trying hard to keep his cool, it breaks his heart knowing he couldn’t of gotten them out of there sooner. “I’ll help you.” Hoseoks words make Yoongi snap his head back up. “What…” “That’s your family, fuck rules Yoongi, lets go get them.” Hoseok seems way more excited about this idea. “You actually have a death wish.” Yoongi is speechless at how determined Hoseok Suddenly is. “Oh come on, I was raised in this shit heap, I want to go out there.” Hoseok reveals. “No...No you don’t.” Yoongi is stern, he doesn’t want his friend seeing what an elven war is like, he also doesn’t want to risk losing someone as important as Hoseok is to him. Hoseok sighs but then looks right into Yoongi’s eyes. “What?” Yoongi leans back a little uncomfortable. “Can I see, I’ve seen enough light elves, but I’ve heard stories about Dark elf eyes.” Hoseok is keen and at this point Yoongi has nothing to hide. “Uh...Sure.” He stands up and makes his way to his bathroom, taking a deep breath he looks in the mirror before removing the contacts and revealing his true eye colour. He’s a little slow when it comes to walking back to the room, and when he take a seat he’s looking down so Hoseok can’t see his eyes. “Look at me.” Hoseok speaks with a soft tone, he’s treating Yoongi with care but also showing him he’s not afraid, so Yoongi does just as he asks. Hoseok gasps when he sees his eyes and Yoongi thinks the worst before his best friend shuffles closer. “Holy shit Yoongi, they glow!” Hoseok can’t look away but this only makes Yoongi chuckle. “My brother always said they looked like emeralds.” Yoongi smiles fondly at the memory. “I don’t think they glow though.” “They do...Wow.” Hoseok is still fascinated until he finally leans away.He goes to speak again and Yoongi just knows what he’s about to ask. “If you ask to touch my ears, I will injure you.” He playfully glares and Hoseok bursts out laughing. “Dammit, I’ve always wanted to touch elf ears!” He whines in a joking way making Yoongi smile anyway. A comfortable silence falls over the two of them, that is until Hoseok suddenly stands up and rushes into Yoongi’s room so fast the elf can’t even question it. He returns with a notepad and pen, knowing Yoongi has one on his small desk. “What are you doing?” The elf asks and Hoseok clicks his pen ready to write. “Operation find Yoongi’s family, duh.” Hoseok says likes it’s obvious. “No...No Hoseok don’t even start” “I’m doing it.” Yoongi is completely ignored as Hoseok begins writing notes. “And how do you think we are actually going to even get out of the walls, oh and then get back in?” Yoongi asks. Hoseok pauses his writing. “Didn’t...Think that far.” He admits. Yoongi can only sigh. ———————————------------“You got him a desk.” Yoongi whines making Jin laugh. “He complained to everyone he could see, of course I got him a desk.” The older explains. Jin and Yoongi have actually been in contact outside of work as well as within, turns out they get along pretty well so Jin randomly emailed Yoongi his personal number one day with no explanation but Yoongi just went with it.“I refuse to buy you coffee anymore.” Yoongi grumbles.“That’s fine I have my own assistant too you know.” Jin smiles, knowing he’s won against Yoongi’s threat. “Wanna swap?” Yoongi now asks. “Hmmm, no I wanna see if you grow on him, or vice versa.” Jin folds his arms and leans back in his chair, the two sharing their lunch break in Jins office for today. The cafeteria was ok but it was always loud and full of too many people to Yoongi’s personal comfort and liking. “Then just know it’s your fault if there is a sudden murder case.” Yoongi returns.“For who?” Jin asks. “Depends how long I have to plan…” Yoongi mumbles. He glances around the room when he takes a sip of his coffee until his eyes land on something. “Where the hell did you get that?” Yoongi points to the elven flower delicately potted and placed on its own shelf with some little crystals also as decoration. “Secrets.” Jin smiles and his answer is so vague it surprises Yoongi, but for some reason the elf still doesn’t push further and leaves the question for now. There is definitely something about Jin that makes Yoongi wary. Elven flowers are very hard to keep, especially as a human. Yes humans can try and keep them alive but really a flower as rare as that is usually kept by elves themselves. Light elves specifically since they can grow them. It’s a delicate flower that grows on its own, no other flowers surrounding it, a yellow centre that fades out to blue, the bluest part being the tips of the petals. If you found one of these in the pitch dark of night you would note that it has a slight glow to it, showing its nature and that it belongs to a magic kind of world. “I haven’t seen one that in bloom since...Well for years.” Yoongi finds himself saying once again glancing at the flower. “And one day I’ll tell you how I got it.” Jin reassures Yoongi who nods gently. Oddly enough Jin doesn’t ask why Yoongi can’t just grow his own, but Yoongi pushes the feeling aside when he wonders if Jin knows who he really is. ————————---------------------Walking into his office Yoongi sees Jungkook cleaning up his own desk, he must have just finished his lunch. “What, don’t you have any friends?” Yoongi asks and it comes off harsh, not that he cares. “I have friends just not here.” Jungkook actually answers him. “Well if you count random people I get drunk with and don’t speak to during the week as friends then sure...And others.” He continues. “Such a fun life wow.” Yoongi rolls his eyes. “Better than sitting at a bar and not actually drinking.” Jungkook returns. “Excuse me?” “I’ve been in that small pub you go to after work to see the only two people I’ve ever seen you with.” Jungkook informs the elf who smirks. “Aw, you’re stalking me.” Yoongi places his hand over his heart.“Go to hell.” “Already been there.” Yoongi mumbles to himself before sitting down at his own desk and finally getting back to work. “Oh you need to send the finished magazine to-“ “I know…” Yoongi groans. He swears he was given an assistant just to be pissed off constantly. ——————————--------------“To Yoongi having a day off tomorrow!” Hoseok holds up a shot while Namjoon and Yoongi stare at their own. “Oh come on!” He whines. “Fine.” Yoongi picks up his shot glass and Namjoon follows shortly after. They all clink their mini glasses together just like when Yoongi got his promotion and let their heads fall back, shot glasses to their lips as the liquid falls down their throats. “Oh my god what is that?” Namjoon asks who is almost choking to death. “I don't know I just picked it up and poured it.” Hoseok shrugs, taking the glasses and placing them in the glass machine ready to be cleaned when enough glasses had been placed inside. “He’s going to get us killed one day.” Namjoon sighs and Hoseok and Yoongi catch each other's eyes. With what Hoseok has planned that may just be true. The door to the pub flies open and enters loud laughter followed by overly loud talking. “Oh just what I need.” Yoongi stares at one person only, who happens to be the one with the loudest laugh might he add. “Something wrong?” Namjoon asks while Hoseok has to serve the loud men and clearly doesn't look happy doing it. “The young one, with the shirt exposing too much skin, that’s my assistant.” Yoongi points out Jungkook who laughs as one of the older men ruffle his hair. Jungkook really didn't look like he belonged, and Yoongi can tell these men have jobs where their money is definitely earned illegally in most cases, so why does Jungkook work in a place like he does? The younger must have sensed the two men staring since he now looks at yoongi, his eyes scream that he’s drunk but since Yoongi has the day off, Jungkook gets one to. Seeing the men Jungkook is hanging around with definitely gives Yoongi a bad vibe, and makes him realise that there must be something more to Jungkook, but does Yoongi really want to find out what that is? Things are fine for a while, Yoongi talks with his two friends while slowly sipping away at some whiskey, he didn’t want to get drunk but Yoongi does enjoy a whiskey here and there. Namjoon has a cider and Hoseok was put on a drinking on shift ban about twenty minutes ago after he randomly poured himself another shot and his co-worker caught him. Suddenly things aren't so fine though, the group Jungkook is with have finally turned their attention to Yoongi, confirming what he thought. They are all elven haters. Yoongi can see out of the corner of his eye how they mimic his pointing ears, how they make fun of magic and make his voice out to be girly because of their nature of being naturally beautiful. He can hear them all laugh and curse at him, Namjoon eventually reaching out to give his shoulder a comforting squeeze. But Yoongi is so used to this kind of thing that he stays put, trying to not let it affect him.“Oh look at that, he also likes dick.” One of the men speaks and that's when Yoongi's fist balls up. “Yoongs.” Hoseok grabs his attention, knowing what he can now do. “Don’t…” He begs with his eyes. “I bet he’s a beggar.” Another voice speaks. “He probably sucks as much dick as he can to continue living inside these walls.” And another voice. “I’m done.” Yoongi grits out. He stands from his stool and it flies to the ground before anyone can stop him. Dark elves have a natural born strength, stronger than the Light and stronger than humans. Yoongi was about to blow his entire cover if he wasn’t careful. He storms across the room until he reaches the table of the smirking men. “What’s your problem?” Yoongi’s voice lacks all emotion. But this doesn’t affect them. “Aw, the tips of his ears go red when he’s mad.” One of the men coo but Yoongi knows its’ in a teasing way, not the nice kind either. “The problem is the fact you even exist.” Someone finally answers Yoongi’s question. Jungkook. “Why don't you say it to my face rather than sitting in the corner.” Yoongi threatens the boy. Jungkook doesn’t hesitate, alcohol flowing through his system as he strides over to the elf, leaning right into his face. “Why don’t you go back to where you came from, or better yet, just die.” Jungkook spits. No one sees it coming when Yoongi shoves Jungkook so hard he hits the wall with a thud, pain clearly on his face before it’s over taken by anger. The younger launches himself at Yoongi, a fist landing right on his eyes causing him to stumble back in shock. Jungkook definitely wasn’t weak. “Enough!” Hoseok shouts, making his way from behind the bar to break up the fight. Jungkook's so called friends cheer him on enough to make the boy attack again. Yoongi is too busy holding his eye when Jungkook grabs him by the collar, fist drawn back ready to hit him. But it doesn’t come. Instead Jungkook’s eyes widen, all of a sudden it’s like all of his confidence is gone and it’s been replaced by fear. “Y-your…” His grip loosens and before anything can be said, Hoseok is dragging Yoongi away and ordering Namjoon to get Jungkook out of he building as well. “You might be my friend Yoongi but I still have to ban you, what the fuck was that!?” Hoseok yells. “I can’t just sit and take all the shit!” Yoongi is still blinded by anger. “Get off me!” Jungkook is yelling from behind the two. “He’s evil!” He yells and Yoongi freezes. He finally turns his head to Hoseok who now widens his own eyes. “You’re missing a contact…” Hoseok informs the elf but before Yoongi can even do anything, Namjoon walks over with Jungkook in his grasp, his intention to ask what he needed to do but now he too stands still, complete shock on his face as Yoongi looks back at him. “Yoongi…” Namjoon whispers out, but he like Hoseok when he found out, seems more upset he didn’t know. Jungkook is able to break free of Namjoon and goes to run, his mistake is running on the grass. “Don’t you even dare!” Yoongi growls out making his two freinds flinch when sudden branches shoot from the ground and find their way around Jungkook's leg, making the boy fall as he tries to scramble away once more. “You shouldn’t be here, I have to tell.” Jungkook is still trying to get away. “I knew you were all talk, now you’re scared.” Yoongi walks closer to Jungkook who only looks up at him, he almost looks like a child, this whole new side shocking Yoongi. “You destroyed everything I had!” Jungkook suddenly shouts making Yoongi stop in his tracks. Jungkook can only look up, he is trapped from being able to take any steps away or even stand, looking up at a man with one blue eye and one green. “I don’t even know you! You’re just an assistant!” Yoongi yells back. “You’re kind killed my family!” Jungkook finally cracks, his true reasons for hating Yoongi revealed, only coming out stronger now his Dark elf nature has been revealed. “But I didn’t! We are not all the same! You don’t know my story and I don’t know yours.” Yoongi returns. Jungkook tears his eyes from Yoongi who just stands in his spot. He feels sorry for the boy who just revealed he has no family when Yoongi could still have one out there. “I’m sorry about your family…” Yoongi speaks softly and before Jungkook looks up at him again he covers his green eye with his hand. Jungkook looks up at yoongi for a moment before looking at his trapped leg. Yoongi releases his branches, Jungkook pulling his legs to himself. He looked so small right now. “Yoongi…” Namjoon speaks up. “Those men he was with, they are known for torturing elves…” He informs his friend, not asking questions about the information he just found out, those can wait. “I knew I recognised them…” Yoongi looks back at the boy sitting on the ground. He should be angry, but he can’t be. “I don’t…” As if reading all the men's thoughts Jungkook speaks up. “I don’t hurt them.” Jungkook admits. “Why wouldn’t you?” Yoongi dares to ask. “I don’t know...I can't.” “Well you punched me quit nicely.” Yoongi removes his hand and pads around his eye. “Yeah but you’re an asshole.” Jungkook returns, is he smiling a little? Silence falls over everyone, they all stand behind the pub, well, Jungkook sits and they all just take in what just happened and is still going on. “I am not like them.” Yoongi repeats, this time Jungkook stares deep into his eyes, even the eye he fears. He’s searching and Yoongi knows what for until he finally takes a deep breath. “Then prove it.” Jungkook asks and Yoongi is actually speechless. Is Jungkook actually going to give him a chance?

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Three men gather in one very small apartment. It’s not super clean but it’s also not a complete mess, it’s average and shows that the person living in it still tries to upkeep the entire place. One lone cup sits in the sink and an already opened pack of cookies with one missing sits on the kitchen counter. This is the home of Yoongi. “You knew?” Namjoon looks at Hoseok with slight hurt in his eyes, just finding out now that Hoseok knew for a few days beforehand. “It’s still pretty fresh news to me too.” Hoseok defends himself. The events of tonight have made the group tired, Yoongi especially with using his abilities to keep Jungkook down. Jungkook who went home not long after the fight happened, Yoongi could sense he wasn’t ok so knew the boy wasn’t about to go around revealing the news to the entire city. The sudden change in Jungkook wanting to give Yoongi a chance still had the group of friends on edge, unsure of how much trust they should put into this boy. Yoongi is going to have to keep a close eye on him. Though there is something about him that tells Yoongi he isn’t who he thinks he is.The clock reads the current time of 1AM and Yoongi discusses his past with Namjoon, now filling him in on the information he didn’t know and going into more detail so Hoseok too was learning new things. These are his best friends, he knows he can trust them with his life so tells them everything. “I don’t trust that kid though.” Hoseok speaks. “I mean we saw what kind of people he hangs around with.” “True, but did you see how he suddenly feared Yoongi, he seems to be more all talk. Those guys though, they torture elves for fun, but his reaction to Yoongi was so bizarre.” Namjoon thinks his thoughts out loud.“It’s fine I’ll keep an eye on him.” Yoongi speaks up and his two friends glance at him. “Safely.” Hoseok warns Yoongi who rolls his eyes. It’s quiet for a moment until Yoongi can feel Namjoon’s eyes on him. “You can’t touch my ears.” He sighs and Namjoon looks shocked, like Yoongi just read his mind which isn’t something he can actually do. “Do you read minds too?” Namjoon asks. “No, Hoseok wanted to do the same thinking now he knows my secret he has that authority.” Yoongi chuckles. Hoseok raises his hand and Namjoon gives him a high five just because they both had the same thoughts. In they end the boys decide to just order some pizza, it’s late and they are all hungry, the two friends of the elf are crashing at the small apartment for the night since it’s late anyway. They felt like teenagers having a sleepover, Namjoon taking the couch and Hoseok making a bed on the floor, Yoongi was not about to share his bed with anyone. They gather in Yoongi’s small kitchen, Yoongi standing while the other two sit on the stools at the counter. Everything seemed fine, there’s laughter and constant conversation. However in his excited state Hoseok let’s slip about another idea to get Yoongi’s family back.“I said no.” Yoongi snaps out, Hoseok flinches at this not used to Yoongi speaking to him like that at least. Before things get too awkward the buzzer goes off and Yoongi is quick to walk off to go pay for the pizza. Hoseok sighs and leans to Namjoon. “I just want him to be happy, like truly happy.” He whispers to his friend and Namjoon can only offer a soft smile. “I know, but there must be a reason he doesn’t want to, he’s seen what it’s like out there, we haven’t. He knows that it would be worse now since the day he left.” Namjoon reminds his friend who just nods, Hoseok isn’t the kind to give up, even if it meant getting hurt. Namjoon wants to join in and help him but he’s scared, everyone hears so many stories and even though his best friend is the real deal, you can’t help but wonder if some of those stories are true, but Namjoon shouldn’t think too much into them for now. “One extra large Pizza for us all, and of course two boxes of fries to share.” Yoongi returns, acting like nothing happened but his two friends note the slight glow in his jewel like eyes. This is when Hoseok wonders if this is something that happens when Yoongi is angry, or maybe just emotional in general. Neither men say anything not wanting to ruin Yoongi’s mood deciding it’s best to let him calm down alone. ----------------------------------------------------——-Finally, Yoongi’s next working day comes around and for the first time, he really doesn’t want to go. His heart beats a thousand times a minute and he knows he keeps getting hot flushes making him sweat more than usual. Jungkook knows about him and that’s not what scared him, it’s the thought that the younger lad may have told someone and Yoongi will arrive at work with people waiting to take him away and he’s pretty sure those people murder his kind, not ‘detain’ them like they say. He walks with his eyes locked on the usual tall glass building, completely walking past the coffee shop with it not even crossing his mind. Today Yoongi’s work attire is different, there’s a slight breeze now it’s coming into the winter months. He wasn’t thinking when he was dressing himself so instead of his smart trousers, he’s clothed in tight skinny jeans, black, but that’s not the dress code. On his top half he’s dressed in turtleneck sweater which does look smart, but the jeans casual it down. This time when he arrives at the building he feels like all eyes are on him, he knows he put his contacts in but that fear is still there, what if one fell out? No, he’d feel that. Those usual receptionists that would giggle when they see him seem to sense his mood, instead giving him a nervous smile while he only blinks in response. He’s an actual mess right now. He just stands in the elevator, not even listening to the pre-recorded voice telling you what floor you have arrived on. Yoongi only knows to leave when someone he doesn't even think he knows nudges him, that’s when he comes back to his senses and leaves the elevator now on his floor. Walking to his office he knows he needs to calm down, he glances at the potted tree in the corner, the tree that is now dying as he walks by, he can’t control it and that's one thing Yoongi has never admitted, he can’t always control his, I suppose you could call it magic or abilities, he just hates those names for it, making it seem like he’s in some fairytale. This world is certainly not some fairytale. He makes sure to walk by the plant as fast as he can so no one notices it dying and no one will look at him, because he shouldn’t be able to do that. He still takes a deep breath before he opens the glass door into his office. Jungkook isn’t at his own desk so Yoongi turns to walk to his own, but then freezes. Jungkook is instead at his desk setting out some papers for the Elf and when he looks a little more, is that a coffee cup? Yoongi quickly tries to get in a chilled out state of mind, taking one last breath before walking over to his own desk. “These, are the articles that are ready to be laid out.” Jungkook gestures to the papers he just placed on Yoongi’s desk. He’s acting normal, too normal. “Oh and Jin emailed you.” Jungkook goes to walk away before spinning back to face Yoongi. “And I got you a coffee with one of them chocolate filled croissants.” Jungkook nods towards the paper bag before finally leaving to sit at his own desk. Yoongi can't help but speak up. “Are you ok??” He asks Jungkook, not responding to anything else Jungkook just told him which surprises the boy. “I don’t understand.” The assistant admits. “You’re just being nice.” Yoongi tells him as he checks those papers that were left for him. “I said I’d give you a chance, I don’t know I thought being normal would help.” Jungkook shrugs and Yoongi actually laughs. “Nice isn’t normal for you.” He jokes around shocking both himself and Jungkook who just looks up at him, slowly a smile spreads on the youngers face. That is until he stares right into Yoongi’s eyes. “I don’t like knowing that those eyes are fake.” Jungkook looks away and goes back to his own computer. “It’s hard to ignore what I’ve seen and been told in the past.” “What you have seen isn’t something you need to ignore, but the stories are.” Yoongi tells him and Jungkook says nothing. This boy watched Yoongi’s kind murder his family, but for some reason Jungkook is giving Yoongi a chance. What does Jungkook see different in him? “Why are you giving me a chance?” Yoongi can’t help but ask and it takes a few moments for Jungkook to finally look at him before responding. “Because...You aren’t like the stories, and it wasn't you that...Killed my family.” Jungkook admits. “I just want to see, curiosity killed the cat right?” He shrugs once again and Yoongi can’t respond to that final sentence. Instead he finally sits on his leather wheeled chair, which is tempting to spin around in sometimes but he needs to at least seem mature. He reaches out for the coffee Jungkook got him, taking a sip he wrinkles his nose before looking up at the boy in shock. “What the hell is this?!” He asks his assistant. “The new seasonal drink.”Jungkook responds. “I don’t like it.” Yoongi holds the cup out, is he offering it to Jungkook or just wanting it away from him, he doesn’t know. “Well I’m not wasting my money…” Jungkook grumbles, walking over he takes the cup from Yoongi. When he takes a sip, honestly Yoongi wasn’t prepared because not only has he drank out of it but he surely wasn’t ready for Jungkook to share the drink with him...An Elf he hates, hated? He doesn’t know. “You can use the company card.” Yoongi reminds him. “I left it here so I just used my own money, it’s just a coffee and snack.” Jungkook brushes it off, taking another sip of the drink clearly enjoying it. Now Yoongi is wondering if he did this on purpose knowing he would end up with the drink in the end. There’s a moment when Yoongi and Jungkook lock eyes while Jungkook takes a sip from the drink. He gives this smile to Yoongi the Elf hasn’t seen before. He did buy that drink knowing Yoongi would hate it. -------------------------------------------—————The end of the day rolls around pretty quick, this was probably due to the fact that Yoongi kept himself busy, also managing to give Jungkook some jobs to do throughout the day which the boy seemed happy about, Yoongi knew Jungkook hated sitting around so he did his best to give the boy things to do that would keep him on his feet.Yoongi had Jungkook collect the final prints along with take them to Jin. He was gone for a while but then again Yoongi knows that Jin can talk for hours if he wanted to, of course Yoongi also sent Jungkook off to actually get him a coffee he likes. Currently Yoongi walks down the street with a slight shiver going through his body, he really should have brought a coat with him but he really wasn’t in a good mind state during the morning. He of course walks the route to the usual pub, of course Hoseok will be on shift and it’s tradition for the three friends to meet up there daily. However it doesn't seem like it’s going to be three of them at all. “Can I help you?” Yoongi suddenly turns to face a startled Jungkook behind him. “I have better hearing than humans.” Yoongi explains and Jungkook slowly nods. “I’m coming with you.” The younger states. “No, go home.” Yoongi sighs, he really doesn't want Jungkook to now creep his way into his out of work times. When Yoongi tells him this Jungkook seems to glance in the direction he lives, Yoongi senses a shift in him. “I uh...No I’m coming with you, I don’t trust you.” Jungkook says. He’s lying, to some extent anyway. “Why don't you want to go home?” Yoongi asks instead and and Jungkook is visibly shaking, he’s cold. “That’s none of your concern.” “Do you admit there’s a reason?” Yoongi pushes. “They wait for me.” Jungkook admits and Yoongi knows who he speaks of. “Those men? Why?” Yoongi just wants to know more about them but anger flashes across Jungkook’s face. “Can we just go!” The younger lashes out. “Fine...We can go.” Yoongi gives in, he feels bad in a way and he can sense the fear in Jungkook, he’s scared of those men but yet he’s seen with them often, not by choice maybe? Now the two walk alongside each other, not a word is said because there’s nothing to say, only Yoongi is walking trying to sense more about the boy, but this is not an ability he uses often so sensing the boys emotions is pretty hard at times. Warmth hits Yoongi’s body once he opens the door to the only old style pub in this city, from what he has seen of the city anyway. Hoseok spots him and instantly offers a smile, which only falters once he sees that Yoongi has brought company. Namjoon turns in his seat to see why Hoseok has a sudden switch, only his face also doesn’t look too happy about the new addition. “Hey…” Yoongi takes a seat at his usual stool and Jungkook takes the one next to him. “What is he doing here?” Hoseok asks, already pouring Yoongi a beer. “I didn’t have a choice, he’s fine.” Yoongi is being kind after sensing the boys fear earlier and for a moment he swears Jungkook gives him a soft smile, maybe as a thank you for not going into detail. “What do you drink kid?” Hoseok asks, giving in after seeing Yoongi seems fine with the situation, though Yoongi notes Namjoon seems a little stiff, and still hasn’t said a word. “I’ll just have a Coke, thanks.” Jungkook smiles at Hoseok and Hoseok being the man he is, returns it. He brings over the two drinks and of course doesn’t ask for money, even from Jungkook. “You ok there Joon?” Yoongi turns to his friend. “I just don’t trust this kid.” Namjoon has no filter and Jungkook just awkwardly sips at his drink. “I just want to pass time, I don't want to talk about that stuff.” Jungkook answers, ‘that stuff’ obviously being about the other night. “I guess I can deal with that.” Namjoon gives in, Yoongi knows his two friends are soft as hell, and admittedly Jungkook can look quick fragile at times, Hoseok would be a sucker for this. Thinking back it wasn’t Yoongi that had a problem with Jungkook, so he can easily start to like him, it was Jungkook’s attitude and hate towards him that started the tension between them. The only thing that will get in the way of Yoongi even bothering to befriend Jungkook would be trust, could he trust Jungkook? A man who hates Elves and hangs around with men who torture them. Time does in fact go by quite nicely, they discuss both Yoongi and Jungkook’s jobs, if Namjoon is enjoying his job at the restaurant and of course how Hoseok is doing these days a well. It felt pretty normal and Jungkook seemed to have made an impression on Yoongi’s two friends, in fact Jungkook and Yoongi shared a few laughs making the Elf realise he probably isn’t a bad guy, he just has some issues and a traumatic past. “Excuse me.” A voice brings the friends out of conversation. “Can you turn the volume up.” A random man asks Hoseok who of course obeys, walking off to find the remote and turn the volume up for the news channel that is currently on the television. “More fires are now erupting in the forest outside of our city. One of the fire bombs making it inside our walls. The number of guards will be increased on patrol, all current Elves legally allowed within the walls will be visited, searched and questioned. It is presumed that the events of many years ago will occur once again, no elves will be allowed to enter the city in this time. Could the Elves turning on the human kind…” Hoseok is quick to turn the TV off, turning to Yoongi in worry. “Yoongs?” Namjoon nudges the elf.“Fuck.” Yoongi comes out of his trance. “They clearly think Elves within the walls are having contact with the ones outside.” Namjoon puts together. “Which is impossible.” Hoseok points out. Jungkook is being oddly quiet after this news report and the current discussion. “Look, we will help you.” Hoseok leans in to whisper to his friend, keeping his voice low. Namjoon nods and all eyes fall onto Jungkook. “I’m not helping.” He bluntly speaks. “Like I expected you to.” Yoongi answers honestly. Silence overcomes the group as the pub slowly empties, obviously people will now return to their homes after this news, those with families and people that they care for anyway. “Hoseok, can you close up. My sister lives near the edge of the wall.” Hoseok’s Co-worker asks. “Of course.” Hoseok agrees and the man is quick to leave, giving Hoseok one last thank you. At this point only their small group sits inside the building, discussion now not having to be as on the down low. “Look, I won’t help but I won’t turn him in either.” Jungkook speaks up and this shocks the others. Maybe they could trust him. “Why?” Namjoon asks. “Because Yoongi hasn’t done anything wrong has he, I’m not that cruel.” “Your friends are.” Namjoon mumbles and it’s clear Jungkook heard him when he glares at the man. “They are not my friends.” Jungkook grits out. “Stop.” Yoongi warns the younger who obeys. “How long can you wear contacts for, those guards don’t exactly care about Elves and that’s obvious, they could show up in the middle of the night.” Hoseok reminds his Elven friend.“With a struggle I could change from these ones and wear them for almost a day.” Yoongi’s face turns up just knowing how dry and irritated his eyes are about to feel, but he can’t get caught. “Let’s go to yours, I’ll take your contacts with me.” Hoseok offers and Yoongi nods. The group of friends including Jungkook all wait for Hoseok to lock up and head in the direction of Yoongi’s apartment. Jungkook follows the group and Yoongi doesn’t protest, he glances at Jungkook’s phone and not even long ago one of those men were spam texting the boy demanding to know where he is and why he wasn’t at his place, Yoongi can be mean, but he can’t let Jungkook go home right now, even if that does mean Jungkook coming to his place and finding out where he lives. “Yoongi.” Namjoon nudges his friend and just glances to Jungkook, clearly he’s not liking this idea of Jungkook tagging along but Yoongi waves it off. They arrive and Jungkook doesn’t come inside. Not at first anyway. “Dude, my apartment is like any other, maybe on the smaller side.” Yoongi rolls his eyes when he won’t even step into his home. “I expected...More.” Jungkook responds honestly. “Well I’m not made of money.” Yoongi mumbles, finally able to close his door once Jungkook steps inside. The first place Yoongi goes is to his bathroom, Hoseok waiting by the door while the Elf switches out his contacts, grabbing any contact cleaners and cases out of the bathroom and giving them to Hoseok who shoves them into his bag. “I actually hope they do come in the middle of the night so I don’t have to keep these things in.” Yoongi complains as he gently rubs at his eyes. “We’ll go, probably doesn’t look good with three humans in this place with you.” Namjoon appears in the doorway of Yoongi’s room. Yoongi nods. “Thank’s guys, it’s just the contacts since I don’t dye my hair anymore.” Yoongi remembers, then his eyes go wide before he visibly relaxes confusing his two friends. “What was that?” Hoseok chuckles. “As a so called light Elf, I should be dying my hair black, I thought I was screwed but me being me still has the box of black dye from when I was sick of the blonde.” Yoongi remembers. “I’m not sure whether to call you a hoarder or think it was pretty smart you kept it.” Namjoon teases and Yoongi glares at him for calling him a hoarder anyway. After this the three share short words, have a small conversation before leaving Yoongi’s room and remembering Jungkook has been sat at the kitchen counter this whole time. Yoongi sighs when Jungkook seems to have found Yoongi’s cookie stash since he likes sweet foods these days and is sat eating one of them, Jungkook only gives a smile like he’s innocent amusing Yoongi’s other two friends. “Ok, everyone out, it’s getting late.” Yoongi begins shoving his friends from his apartment, clicking his fingers at Jungkook to put down the cookie and leave as well. Of course the boy brings the pack with him making Yoongi whine for a second, shocking even himself at his childish response. “Never speak of it, I’ll see you guys later.” He waves everyone goodbye who of course return the gesture. “Keep us updated!” Hoseok yells back as he walks down the steps and Yoongi nods, backing up into his small apartment and sighing once the door is closed. There is no way he can sleep tonight, he knows those guards don’t care about anyone except their own so of course they don’t care about waking someone up in the night to search them. So, Yoongi instead heads to his kitchen and makes himself a simple instant coffee, it’s going to be a long night. ---------------------------------------———————-2:43AM is when it happens. Loud knocking at his door jolts Yoongi from his almost slumber, so the coffee wasn’t a help at all. He takes a deep breath as he stands from his couch and walks to the door where the knocking hasn't stopped, not until he swings open his door and there they are. “Step out from the apartment sir.” A deep voice orders, he’s surprised there’s no guns pointed at him if he’s honest, but of course he steps out into the cold hall while three guards rush in. The guard that ordered him out shoves Yoongi into the wall behind him. “Arms up.” Of course Yoongi obeys, raising his arms feeling sick as the man pats down his body, even shoving his hands into Yoongi’s pockets only to pull out a crumpled receipt and a few pennies. The guard then forces Yoongi to look directly at him, grabbing his jaw while he stares him right in the eyes, the guard frowns and panic rises in the elf. “Your eyes glow.” The guard speaks before stepping away. Yoongi is probably lucky to be alive right now, because somehow this man didn’t notice his eyes glow green, these must be some good contacts to mask that, Yoongi thinks to himself. “Is he clear?” Another one of the large guards step from Yoongi’s apartment and asks the younger one who moments ago way patting all over the Elf's body. “Yeah he’s clear.” “Same for inside, you know the rules…” The guard checks his paper. “Yoongi, sorry to disturb you.” When the guard believes Yoongi is in the all clear a new side is shown to him, what a fake.“Let’s move!” Mr. Fake orders the rest of his team for the night and so they pile out from Yoongi’s home and simply leave without a goodbye, moving on to the next Elf to bother in the middle of the night. Running his fingers through his hair Yoongi calms himself before he heads back inside, this time locking himself in and dragging his feet to his bathroom, the first thing he does is take out the stupid contacts now making his eyes feels dry and irritated just like he predicted. But then he realises his mistake once he drops them in the trash. Hoseok took all the rest, meaning he has none for work in the morning. “Fuck!” Yoongi kicks his trash can angry at himself. He glances in the mirror only to feel more anger at what he sees in front of him, himself. Storming from the room he rushes to his phone to text Hoseok in panic, praying his best friend will come through and be able to bring the contacts over in the morning. Yoongi feels bad because Hoseok never has to get up at a ridiculously early time, but this is a big deal. Throwing his body down on his bed Yoongi feels heavy. He’s tired and not to mention stressed. All he can do for now is close his eyes and pray tomorrow will be normal, or at least semi normal. -----------------------------------————————“What the hell…” Yoongi croaks out. That’s not the sound of his alarm he set waking him, that’s his ringtone. He debates ignoring it for a second but realises it could be Hoseok. He reaches for his phone and doesn’t bother checking the caller ID before answering. “What’s up?” The Elf asks. “Open up, your fucking friend gave me your stupid contacts last night knowing I need to be up early so declared it my job to bring them to you.” The annoyed voice speaks and it takes Yoongi a moment. “Jungkook? You’re outside?” He asks. “Sadly.” Jungkook responds. Yoongi hangs up on the boy before swinging his legs from his bed to land his feet on the cold floor. Lifting his body from the bed he pads from his cosy room out to the door where he simply unlocks it and doesn't give Jungkook a chance to even see him before he walks away to go wash his face. “Do you have any cereal?” Jungkook calls out just as Yoongi splashes water in his face. “Yeah, why?” The Elf responds “Because I haven't eaten yet.” Jungkook responds. “Well buy something on the way to work.” Yoongi grumbles in response. Reaching for a towel he pats at his damp face but then his ears twitch. He can hear the sound of rustling and well, Yoongi in’t a morning person, so of course he storms into the kitchen. “Do you not fucking listen.” Yoongi growls as he walks right over to Jungkook and snatches away the cereal box. The two stand closer than they ever have before and Jungkook just stares right at him. “S-sorry.” The boy stutters. Ok now Yoongi feels bad. He places the box back down and back away slightly. “You can have some…” He gives in and Jungkook seems hesitant. Then it clicks, Jungkook hasn’t seen Yoongi’s eyes so close, eyes he fears. “I’ll go put my contacts in…” He mumbles seeing the box on the kitchen counter. He quickly takes it and rushes back to his small bathroom to place in his blue eyes. He looks at himself in the mirror, this time looking at a lie. Since Jungkook is occupied Yoongi takes this time to get in his clothes for work. He’s tired from lack of sleep but this time actually grabs something work appropriate. Ridding himself from the clothes from last night, he rushes to quickly pull on some fresh boxers. Picking up his suit trousers he pulls them up and makes sure to fasten his belt to keep them in place. While looking for a decent sweater to wear unwanted company walks in. “Can we still get food on the w-” Jungkook freezes in the doorway. Yoongi can’t help but freeze up with him, it takes him a moment to realise Jungkook isn’t checking out his body, he looks concerned. That’s when Yoongi glances down to see the large scar on his stomach. “I’ll leave.” Jungkook rushes from the room and Yoongi pulls off any sweater from a hanger at this point and pulls it over his head, covering his scars. He almost falls when he rushes to get on his shoes before returning to where Jungkook sits looking like he is deep in thought. “Let’s go.” Yoongi grabs his long coat to keep him warm along with the bag he is keeping all the paper clippings and any important paperwork he needs these days for work.“Right, got it.” Jungkook stands up from the lonely couch and follows Yoongi out from his apartment and down the street. Yoongi doesn’t know how to feel right now. Not about Jungkook seeing his scars, for some reason he isn’t too bothered about it since he hasn’t asked any questions. What he’s unsure about is how he actually has company today, actually walking to work with someone and it’s Jungkook of all people. They walk in silence and it’s nothing too awkward that Yoongi can’t handle. “Here.” Yoongi speaks up when he spots the usual cafe he enjoys his drinks from. Jungkook simply follows and Yoongi finds it slightly amusing how the first thing Jungkook does is go over to the baked goods display. “Yoongi!” A high cheery voice calls and the Elf turns to see the only barista who cares to make conversation with him and actually make the start of his days a good one. “Long time no see, you serving?” Yoongi asks the girl who is clearing tables. “When it’s your turn I’ll make yours.” She smiles and that’s when Jungkook walks over. The girl glances at him and clearly his looks have an affect on her, her cheeks now a blush pink and she can’t even look at the boy. Yoongi chuckles as she rushes away and Jungkook stands completely unaware of the whole situation. They both wait their turn and as said, the girl does indeed come to serve Yoongi, knowing his order already she doesn’t ask, only to be interrupted by Jungkook clearing his throat.“Can I have a hot chocolate added to that order too please?” He asks and she only nods, it’s cute. “You actually say please?” Yoongi in his good mood finds himself teasing the boy who glances at him for a second too long. “Shut it.” He grumbles making Yoongi smirk. “Two chocolate croissants too.” Yoongi adds after their drinks are placed in front of them, she gives Yoongi a soft smile as she goes to bag up their baked goods, returning she does the usual and draws on Yoongi’s cup. While Jungkook is rummaging his pockets, Yoongi gives up and sighs, scanning his card and paying for everything shocking the younger man. He simply gives the young girl a smile before walking out of the cafe with Jungkook rushing out behind him. “I’ll pay you back.” Jungkook speaks up. “Just buy me another coffee later.” Yoongi offers to which Jungkook nods. “A lot of people look at you.” Jungkook notes as they continue their walk. “After the news they are staring more, I’m used to it though, was worse when I first got here.” Yoongi honestly tells the boy who actually seems interested for once. Yoongi smiles for a second and without thinking he speaks. “Jimin would have attacked if he caught people st-” Yoongi stops, smile gone and suddenly emotionless. “Jimin?” Jungkook asks. “No one.” Yoongi responds and by the tone of Yoongi’s voice Jungkook knows this is something Yoongi shouldn’t have said. Who is Jimin? He really does wonder, but there is no way Yoongi is going to tell him. Jungkook unfortunately is too curious, so he will have to find out somehow, because why would yoongi go from seeming so happy, to nothing? They continue their walk in now silence, Jungkook sipping away at his hot chocolate which he is happy to find out has marshmallows in it, and Yoongi just seeming lost in his own head. They arrive at work and all eyes are on them. Yoongi is always alone and everyone knew about how much Jungkook hates...Hated? Elves and now he’s arriving with Yoongi at work, both walking closer together than they might realise and making their way to the elevator where Jungkook stands peeking at his chocolate croissant in the little bag before they make it to their floor. Jungkook rushes ahead and unlocks the office, rushing to sit down to which Yoongi finds out is because the boy just really wants to eat. Yoongi can’t help but think it was kind of cute for a brief moment. He takes a seat at his own desk and makes sure to log in and check his email first. The one that stands out to him is one from Jin asking if Yoongi was ok, he must have seen the news. Yoongi responds telling him that he and everything is ok before checking the rest of his tasks for the day. The day goes on like any other, Yoongi glued to his desk while Jungkook gathers papers and runs the task of asking if people can speed up writing their articles else Yoongi won’t be able to get everything organized in time for release, and with him being in charge of the layout...He gets the blame for their slow work. Lunch rolls around and Yoongi gets a call from the main reception saying he has a guest. This is new.“Can you go get them?” Yoongi asks Jungkook. “But it’s lunch.” Jungkook almost sounds like a child about to throw a tantrum. “I bought you a croissant earlier.” Yoongi argues with a smirk on his face and Jungkook glares at him. “Fine.” The boy spins on his chair before finally standing up and making his way out from the glass office and disappearing inside the elevator. In the time Jungkook is gone, even though it is his lunch break Yoongi finds himself looking if he can get a loan online. He really needs the money and for a moment he thinks about Hoseok’s idea about finding Jimin and his mother, that is until the reality hits him and he realises that it really would be impossible. “Stop that shit.” A voice suddenly speaks. Yoongi looks up to see Hoseok in his office pointing at Yoongi looking like he’s working.“What the fuck are you doing here?” He asks genuinely surprised. “I have a day off and I’m dying of boredom. I brought food for us...Uh...All of us.” Hoseok glances at Jungkook who seems shocked but Yoongi senses how touched he is at the same time. “Drag that table over.” Yoongi gestures to the table displaying just one potted plant he is honestly surprised is still alive. Hoseok places the plant on Yoongi’s desk and with the help of Jungkook they pull out the table and bring three chairs over to be able to sit and enjoy their lunch. “....Uh...Hi.” Another voice enters the room and now Yoongi looks up to see Jin. “Oh! Take a seat meet my friend.” Yoongi looks for a spare chair but there isn’t one. Jin ends up using a spare one from one of the absent writers today. “I’m Seokjin...Or Jin...Prefer Jin.” He extends his hand out to Hoseok who gladly shakes it. “I’m Hoseok, Yoongi’s best friend since...Well…” Hoseok wonders if he should say so he glances at his friend. “Hoseok helped me alot when I got here.” Yoongi smiles and Jin nods. “I saw the news.” He brings up. “Yeah, I got searched.” Yoongi informs him. “How did that go, did they find out?” Jin’s words make the whole table freeze up, to which Jin glances around slightly amused. “I could sense that you all knew from the moment I brought up seeing the news.” Jin takes a bite of his own sandwich and Yoongi stares at him for a moment. “Oh my god...You’re a half Elf!” Yoongi exclaims almost shooting out from his seat. “What gave it away, the Elven plant in my office or the pure blue in one of my eyes?” Jin chuckles. “A half?” Hoseok asks in shock. “Yeah it’s super rare, you guys can sense nearly everything, like your senses are really high for some reason.” Yoongi seems so amazed he is meeting a real half Elf in person and Jin finds it sweet in a way. What he finds more sweet is how Jungkook is surprised at this excitable side of Yoongi and how he just watches him the entire time. Is this boy aware of himself?“Hold up...You know about Yoongi?” Hoseok rewinds back a minute or two. “Like Yoongi said, our senses are crazy, even more than true Elves, we don’t know why but I could sense his dark aura the moment I walked passed him on my first day. I befriended him and he’s actually a great guy, I wasn’t going to be someone to turn him in.” Jin reveals. “I trust you.” Yoongi picks at his own food and once Yoongi say this, Hoseok relaxes. “I’d love to see your eyes one day, I’ve heard things about a dark Elves eyes, they are all different though.” Jin speaks and Yoongi nods. “They look like Emeralds.” A voice suddenly speaks and all eyes land on Jungkook who seems embarrassed that he just said that out loud. Yoongi looks right at him and Jungkook stares at his blue eyes hiding his green. They break their eye contact and Hoseok and Jin glance at each other before ignoring what just happened. “Who’s Jimin?” Jungkook decides to ask instead. “Ok, lunch is over.” Yoongi stands from his chair. “We still have forty minutes…” Jin interrupts. “It's over.” Yoongi snaps. Jin notices how the plant Hoseok placed on Yoongi’s desk earlier begins to die. Jin recognised how Yoongi wasn’t in control of his ‘Magic’ and it’s clear he can’t control it when he’s emotional. “He’s right...I should be doing some work.” Jin suddenly agrees and helps Yoongi clear up. Hoseok and Jungkook are confused leaving Hoseok stood with his food in his hands and Jungkook having to move over to his own desk when Yoongi shoves the table back to where it was with no help, like it weighed nothing. “Fuck sake.” Yoongi notices the dead plant and when he picks up the pot thorns begin to sprout from the soil. “Fuck!!” He gets angry at who he is and Jin takes the pot from him, leaving Yoongi to calm down while everyone watches it unfold. “Can you bring it back?” Hoseok asks and Jin shakes his head.“I can maintain the life of a plant and nature...I can’t bring it back from the dead like a light Elf could.” He informs him. Half Elves can’t bring life, only keep things alive. Like the plant in Jin’s office, he can keep it alive but if it was to wilt and die, it was gone. “Why don’t you see Hoseok out?” Jin gives a soft smile to Jungkook who is clearly showing fear of Yoongi right now, he stands with his eyes wide even when he nods at Jin’s suggestion. Hoseok clearly wants to stay and comfort his friend, but he knows Jungkook needs to get out of the room. He didn't like Jungkook at first, but Hoseok doesn't think he is so bad after they began having lunch together today and seeing him at the pub, he didn't speak much but when he did he was nice, funny. But he does need to learn to know when some things need to be left unsaid.“Come on.” Hoseok gestures for Jungkook to see him out from the building and the boy is quick to leave. “You need to be careful.” Jin speaks up after the other two leave the office. “You’re lucky you have these.” He gestures to the blinds Yoongi had installed so people couldn't see inside, you can only see through the door of his office. “I know...Jungkook just…” “He’s curious...Maybe too curious.” Jin admits and Yoongi finds himself smiling a little, only for it to fall again. “Jimin...He’s my brother.” Yoongi revels to Jin who responds with silence. This makes Yoongi continue. “I get angry, mad at myself when I think of him because I made some stupid promise almost nine years ago that I could get him and my mother out from that life, I knew there was going to be a war and I didn’t want Jimin to be corrupted by it, I didn’t want this pure innocent boy to grow up with...death.” Yoongi admits. “I don't’ even know if he is still alive Jin, and my mother! I can’t go get them, and I can’t afford for them to live in here even if I could, they wouldn’t be allowed in here even as Light Elves because they have been in the war, they would have the nature to kill.” Yoongi continues and Jin listens. “Hoseok seems to have this idea we could get them back, but that’s just asking to be arrested, or in my case killed.” Yoongi now finishes and Jin waits for a moment before speaking. “I don’t know the pain you go through, I get away with being human so I can’t tell you I understand. But I can tell you that you would know if they were dead. I wish I could help you but…” Jin stops. “I wouldn’t want to go out there either…” Yoongi knows what the older is thinking. “I woke up one night sweating, pain shooting through my chest and I just felt hollow after a while, I wanted to cry but that’s not something...I just don’t do it...I felt like I lost something, I know they can’t be out their and that’s what angers me more. I felt it.” Yoongi reveals and Jin watches just how much pain Yoongi really is in. He hides it, keeps it all inside. Yoongi can only look at the poor plant he just took the life from with no control over it. “I wonder sometimes if I can do that to a human, an animal…” “You can’t...Yoongi You’re not a monster.” “Thanks Jin...But I am.” Yoongi sighs. Jin can’t do or say anything in this moment to make Yoongi feel better. “Do you want me to leave?” He instead offers and Yoongi doesn't look at him, but he nods. So Jin respects this and leaves Yoongi alone with his own thoughts, something he really didn’t want to do, but it’s clear Yoongi is someone you have to be careful around, that’s something Jin doesn’t want to have to feel. Yoongi waits until he hears Jin leave to finally collapse into his chair. He won’t cry, he just won’t. He wishes he never left, but then at the same time he’s glad he did leave, only now he wishes he brought his family with him. They wouldn't have made it though, the struggle he went through alone he just knows as a family it would have been even harder. He just wanted to make sure that when they got here they wouldn't have to go through all those struggles so he thought if he came alone and made a life ready for them, that was the best option. But he’s failed not only himself, but his family too, the family he doesn’t even know could still be alive.Yoongi is shocked when a few minutes later he’s being spun around in his chair only to come face to face with Jungkook. “I’m going to help you.” The boy says and Yoongi can only blink at him. “What??” He asks and Jungkook gives this smile. A smile that makes Yoongi’s stomach twist in a way he’s never felt before...But it’s not bad? He doesn’t know what this feeling is. But all he can do is stare into the large brown orbs in front of him. “I can get us outside of the wall.” With those words. Yoongi’s heart stops.
