You’d met him on a bar somewhere to the east of Seoul. When your mind was barely intact and your speech was more slurred than you could ever remember, you’d stumbled into the arms of a stranger than you now knew far too well for your own good. You’d heard it from everyone, that you need to be careful and make sure to have someone with you at all times, but that night you’d forgotten everything, and everyone. There’s monsters out there, you know. If the words of your friends hadn’t rung so true you’d be in a completely different situation. They meant monsters that were more human than the others, one’s which took advantage of you and ruined you from the outside in.Because no one really talks about true monsters these days anyway. They blend in with society and you don’t see them at all, you barely even notice that they’re there. It came to a point where there was only around a million humans, of the sort, left in the world for others to see. Now it’s rare to come across someone who isn’t even a little integrated into the system of a being who wasn’t meant to be on earth. The point is, we’re all monsters, even the ones who aren’t conventionally.“He’s cute,” you’d told your friend, pointing directly across the bar to a group of boys who sat together with their glasses in hand, laughing at someone’s joke. “I like him. Shall I talk to him?”You’re ready to jump off of your bar stool – the addition of alcohol to your bloodstream never worked out well for you because of how your body was designed – but the hand of your friend is quick to pull you back. “I don’t think you should talk to him like this.”“Why should I listen to you?” you ask, shrugging off the hand. Your mind struggles to put a name to the face before you, but the girl has ice white hair and eyes that are golden like the sun. Five shots ago you’d have remembered her name.“Because I’m saving your ass,” she tells you. Though you’d resisted her grasp she makes an attempt to pull you back again. “We need to go back home. Come on, you’re past the point of drunk now. You’re intoxicated.”You scoff, pulling away once more. The floor seems to spin a little but you manage to keep you balance and look back over to the boy you’d been staring at before. He somehow doesn’t catch your eyes. He’s engrossed in conversation. His grey hair is weightless and frames his face so well that it makes your skin crawl. You find yourself in some kind of trance as you look over to him, drinking in every detail of his face. His lips that were ever so red and soft-looking, his round eyes that were large enough to capture the souls of everyone around him, his colourless skin and his underlying need to control everyone.Scrap that, you weren’t meant to know that now. When you increase your blood alcohol level, you’re able to learn more about the person than you want to.“I’m going over there,” you state, taking one step as you hold onto the worktop that was covered with various forms of liquids that you wished you’d never have touched. The girl you’re with, the daemone as you now somehow begin to remember, is just watching you. She doesn’t make an attempt to stop you and though at the time you’re grateful, you know tomorrow morning you will feel rather impartial to whether or not she stopped you from walking over there to that beautiful man and said something to him. What? It’s not like he won’t like you.And she doesn’t stop you at all.You find out he likes you just as much as you expected him to.“Hey,” you mumble, one hand on the table that he and his friends were seated at. Your mind goes blank for a moment but you manage to regain some control over your thoughts (what is left of them, anyway) so you can talk to him. “You’re cute.”He laughs at your words with as much confidence as you do. You’re a little surprised, he can’t be the same as you because only girls can be undines, but you’re too drunk to think of some reason for why he’s so confident. “Cute isn’t a word that I would use.”“What would you use?” you ask him.“Why don’t you take a guess?”You hum, resting on the table and crossing your arms over your chest. Your charm is beginning to work on the boy who’s sitting next to him. His teeth dig into his lips and begin to draw blood which amuses you greatly. “Can I really say what I want to say when you’re sitting with your friends?”“Are you scared of them hearing it?” he challenges. The way he talks makes you want to spend more time with him. It’s exhilarating. “Will it degrade you to say what you want?”“It wouldn’t degrade me to say to you that I want you to take me to the bathroom and push me up against the wall and fuck me so hard my legs hurt tomorrow morning.”Jokes on him. No soul, no problem. The boy looks convinced by your words. He nods twice, humming to himself as he looks away. You’re focused on how his eyes are the darkest shade of grey you’ve ever seen. It’s almost black, but not quite. He’s seen so many things with those eyes that it annoys you to begin to think of it. He’s a monster just like you, only a different kind. His kind is usually feared, that’s why your friend didn’t stop you and he’s sitting on a table with the other losers who are afraid to show their faces.A vampire, a Jikiniki, a Djinni, a Valkyries, and whatever he was.“My name is Jimin,” he tells you. Your knowledge would now tell you that he’s not a demon because a demon would never tell you their name when you first meet them. He’s something else. “Shall I take you up on that offer in the bathroom?”He raises an eyebrow at you so smoothly that you feel your legs shake a little. Who could have such good experience with people and not be some kind of demon or vampire? He’s got normal ears and normal eyes and normal teeth. He’s about as normal as you are, you just can’t tell if he’s got a soul because of your state.Your current state also makes you nod at his question, accepting his offer as you feel a shiver run down your spine. The eyes of his friends are on you but you ignore it for one sole purpose. His gaze is too much for you to look away. It’s like he’s trying to draw you in as he stands up to lead the way.Except you never actually make it past two steps. Your feet stumble before you can even move away from the booth, leaving you to fall straight into his arms. He catches you – thankfully – though his touch on you seems to drag you under even more.It hits you then, when you’re looking back up at him with wide eyes and an uneven breath, that you realise what kind of monster he is. One that lives on the souls of others.A pretty hot looking ghoul that offers you his number.☩☩☩☩“How’s the headache coming along?”You groan at the very noise of your flatmate’s voice, shaking your head as you cover your eyes with your hands. The alcohol that drowned out your senses is only just starting to wear off, meaning that you’re barely able to function and the work you’ve got to do is sat in front of you on the kitchen desk – still not finished.“Not going to talk?” he asks. You roll your eyes at his question and remove your hands, showing him the darkest look you could. It fails, mostly because he knows you have no true feelings behind your expression. “I heard you did a lot of talking last night.”“And I heard a certain asshole didn’t want to save me, either,” you mumble.Your flatmate turns to you with a stare that matches your own from before. Problem is, he means it, and he actually looks scary. He’s a dragon after all. “Bite me.”“Only if you burn me alive so I never have to relive last night. Oh wait, I forgot, you’re a nice asshole. One that doesn’t like hurting people.”You two had met about five years ago when a lonesome incubus was following you home. If one man with black hair, black eyes and a black suit didn’t scare you to the bone, then another man with black hair, red eyes and a black suit joining him most definitely did.Fortunately for you, the red eyed man saved your life (what you could really say you actually had left of it, anyway) and brought you to safety. You’d thanked him by buying him lunch the next day, and that’s when you found out that your saviour was a dragon.A real life, shapeshifting dragon. Who, by the way, was named Min Yoongi. It was such a plain name for such a cool guy.“Do you remember when you used to think I was interesting?” he asks you. Though he’s currently washing his dishes he still has a stoic and fighter like stance that makes you fear him. “You always wanted to see me in my true form. You think that’s going to happen when you’re always so rude to me?”You scoff. “You’ve kept me waiting long enough. I don’t care about your true form anymore. I’ve seen other dragons who are probably way cooler than you.”The problem with Yoongi was that he looked only slightly intimidating. He had a strong stance and a harsh stare, but his now blond hair and his smaller frame meant he was often undermined by others. Of course if you simply spoke to him over the phone you would assume he was far scarier than he actually is, but when you meet him he seems sweet.Especially next to Kim Seokjin, who you’d probably see about—now.“Morning,” your second flatmate greets, entering the room with a usual smile and angelic aurora surrounding him. “Would you like some toast, (y/n)? I heard you got pretty drunk last night.”You shake your head and offer a smile back. “I’m fine, thank you for asking though.”“Oh, so you’re going to be nice to only one of us? That’s cold, even for you,” Yoongi states. He drops his spoon on the side and turns to face you and Seokjin directly. “I never would have guessed when they said you had no soul, it meant you were actually the world’s biggest asshole.”“That makes two of us, then.”Seokjin only finds the time to laugh, opting to make his own toast without making a contribution. He was the eldest which meant he had some authority, but he lost quite a lot of that authority when people found out he wasn’t that much of a monster at all. His broad shoulders and his tall frame meant nothing when people saw the green shine of his eyes and pointed elven ears.A hyter sprite. You know, the green-eyed fairy that was kinder than any other creature and was known for assisting children, specifically those who were lost and needed to get home.“Did you have a nice time, anyway?” Seokjin asks.“I guess, from what of it I can remember. I decided I was brave enough to talk to one of those rejected groups who sit on their own because I caught eyes with their leader,” you tell them both. The useless words on the case file that you’re reading are becoming even more pointless. “He was kinda hot, to be honest. Grey hair, grey eyes, he was practically the star of the show there. Except… he was a ghoul.”It’s silent for a moment. You manage to catch Seokjin place down the oven tray he’s holding to address his immediate shock to your words, but Yoongi speaks before Seokjin can. “A ghoul?”“Why do you think Yubin didn’t stop me?”Yubin, your daemone friend of about a thousand years (your whole life, you mean), is Seokjin’s guardian angel. Effectively. Being a daemone, she was assigned someone at birth that she would always have to protect and that person was Seokjin, except she hadn’t known that until her sixteenth birthday, when all daemones were told who they needed to protect. That’s how you’d met Seokjin, and the three of you got on pretty well. Yubin and Seokjin were both tolerable of Yoongi and thus, you ended up here, living together and not murdering each other on a daily basis.“Does he know anything about you?” Seokjin questions. “Like, could he find you here if he wanted to? You know that ghouls can be dangerous. They’re always on the news for killing someone accidentally.”“Firstly, he can’t hurt me or kill me accidentally because he can’t take anything from me. He wants a soul to take, I have no soul. We’re practically a match made in heaven.”Yoongi gives you a blank look, as does Seokjin. They know the facts but they’re being blunt due to the common view of ghouls in the world. “Right. What’s the second thing you need to tell us.”“That he most probably does know where we live because I drunk texted him where I lived last night and said he should come over some time. But like I said, no worries. I’m an undine. He’ll only be here for me and he’ll be fixated on my soul too much to even think about Yubin.”“I’m worried about me!” Yoongi exclaims, “what if he comes in here and tries to take my soul! I’m young, I have time ahead of me to make something of myself! Do you really want him to come in here and kill me before I even have the chance to show you my dragon form? Huh?”You groan at his words, shaking your head again and you somehow find the words before you more interesting again. “He’s not going to kill you.”“How do you—”Yoongi is cut off by a knocking at your front door, one which shocks you and the others completely. You can hear Yubin upstairs beginning to creep to the top of the stairs so that she can see who it is at the door, too.“Is no one going to open it?” you ask. Both Seokjin and Yoongi stay still, as does Yubin upstairs. You guess they’re all worried that it’s a damned ghoul showing up to murder them all. “Fine, fine. I’ll get it. Don’t mind me.”Although you would like to think of yourself as brave, it’s not a fact of emotion that’s letting you open that door with ease. No, it’s the fact you have no soul. No soul, no worrying about what will happen or fear of the future. Actually, you really have little emotion whatsoever. Just happiness, and love you suppose, but that’s because you’re programmed to feel anything remotely positive. Water spirit problems, you guess.Though you are a little curious to find out who is behind the door, you don’t let your interest stop you from pulling the door open without hesitation. It leaves you and whoever is behind the door with no barrier, but you cope with it.Just until you realise that the others being worried about a ghoul showing up became an actual problem.Jimin, a name you’d noted in the back of your mind, is wearing some kind of old fashioned print blazer with a black shirt and black jeans. He’s got rings on most of his fingers and his ears sport two crosses that dangle from a silver chain. Ironic, he’s the least religious one in this neighbourhood.Yet, you don’t shut the door on him. You’re interested.“I hope I’m not pestering you too early,” he states. His left hand is brought to his face and he pushes his hair back behind his ear. It’s just long enough for him to style it like this. “You told me to come over, sometime.”You think that maybe if he was someone different, you’d have maybe invited him in. The hostile environment is enough for him to thrive in but Yoongi and Seokjin may have teamed up to kill him, and though killing ghouls is often a good thing, you weren’t really sure if Jimin was necessarily bad.So you’re honest. It’s a good policy for someone who’s also being honest. “I was drunk.”“As was I.”“I mean, when I sent that text I wasn’t really thinking straight,” you try to tell him. He seems reasonable enough to believe you, you hope.“Oh. I see. You did seem quite strong with your words so I just believed them,” Jimin says. He remains in his place, and though you’ve got the door slightly pulled shut so that he can’t see inside, you feel as though he’s judging you already. “It did just seem like you really did want me to push you up against the wall and fuck you so hard your legs hurt.”You swallow, hard. “I said that?”“What means would I have to lie to you, sweetheart?”Jimin is very much right. You can recall some things from the night before but not everything. Like that there was a vampire with him, and four others, but you couldn’t remember what they were. You can remember forgetting Yubin’s name and her not coming to stop you, and when you fell into Jimin’s arms and he gave you his number. So he doesn’t have any reason to lie to you. You have to just go with it.“If you’re busy, then I can propose something else to you,” Jimin suggests. He places his hand in his pocket and pulls out a card, one that’s pristine white with black trimming. He holds it out for you to take, presenting you with the name of a restaurant that is very well known across Seoul. It’s where all those monster monsters go so they can be with their own kind. Perhaps he thinks you’re evil, too. Maybe you can pull it off for a while. A date with a ghoul isn’t so bad.“My friend is head chef there. It would be nice if you could come along with me tomorrow evening, I already have a reservation.”You stifle a laugh, one that doesn’t really show any emotion whatsoever. “I guess that I don’t really have a choice if you’ve already made the reservation.”“Wear something nice. Lots of people will be looking at you as you’ll be with me.” He ignores you completely, something you’re quite happy about. “I’ll pick you up here at six forty-five. Don’t be late.”☩☩☩☩You’re looking into your mirror and Yubin is laying on your bed, offering little input into your decision for what you should wear. Your make up is done, you look hot – Yoongi had stuttered a little when you pushed past him to get into the bathroom before him – but you can’t seem to find the right dress.Yubin is too nice to say which one looks best, and it’s 6:35. Jimin will be here in ten minutes and that makes your heart race because he specifically said be ready and now you’re not ready and it’s going to be a disaster when he gets here.“What about that red dress?” Yubin suggests. You look away from the mirror and back to her, eyeing where she’s pointing in your closet. “You went on a date with…was it Minho? Anyway, you wore that dress and when he got here he almost had a heart attack.”You hum. “It was Minho, and he almost had a heart attack because he’s a literal angel who had never seen so much boob in his life.”“Then it’s great for a ghoul!” Yubin tells you, her voice over-exaggerated for no particular reason. She, and the other two you lived with, didn’t want you to go on this date. You knew their reasoning – he was a ghoul and you were not by any means an evil monster that fitted with him. That was fair enough. You understood that completely, but what you didn’t understand was the fact that they were being such asses about it. You’d been on dates with worse.Like literal demons. You’ve dated demons before and they didn’t seem to care. Okay, Yoongi cared a little. But only because he saved you from a relative of a demon at one point.“Can we refer to him by name, please?” you ask her, “I know he’s a ghoul and we’re meant to hate him but I bet he’s nice. Plus, he asked me out for dinner. Not many guys do that anymore. They usually just want to fuck you and leave you, so he’s already a step above some.”Yubin sighs, shaking her head. “It’s not because he’s a ghoul. It’s because you met him at a bar because you wanted to fuck him in the toilet! Don’t you think it’s a bit awkward? Oh, and yes, he’s a ghoul. You work with the people who prosecute ghouls!”“Jimin hasn’t done anything wrong, so what’s the problem?”“The problem is you’re missing the problem!”As much as you enjoy arguing with Yubin (she and Yoongi are amazing at making you want to pull your own hair out sometimes), you’re interrupted by a knock at your bedroom door. When it’s opened, Seokjin pops his head around so he can see you and he smiles widely.“Your ghoul is here for you. He told me to apologise for being four minutes early but he expects to see you downstairs in the next four minutes.”“What a control freak,” Yoongi comments from the hallway, obviously looking to get his take on the situation heard. You only roll your eyes and gesture for Seokjin to shut the door again. “Are you sure you definitely want to go on a date with him?”The red dress it is. You make a break for the closet to pull out the dress and change quickly, choosing to ignore anything the others had to say as you make some final touches and finalise how you look with some decent shoes and a bag that was big enough to fit in your favourite brand of perfume that was made to keep all your monster problems away.Somehow you think you look good enough for Jimin. What are you saying? You look like you’re too good for Jimin.“I’ll text you hourly so you know I’m not dead,” you tell Yubin. She acknowledges your words in the barest manner but looks up to you, hums and gives you the thumbs up, telling you that yes, you look good enough for the ghoul of yours. “See you later, and please save me some of that cake that Seokjin made for when I cry over my failed date tomorrow.”You check your watch as you run down the stairs, checking it was before quarter-to, just so you hadn’t already disappointed Jimin before you even got on your date. Seokjin and Yoongi aren’t in sight so you don’t have any more goodbyes to say, and before you even have a chance to take a deep breath, you’re out of the door with Jimin standing before you. He’s wearing black, as usual. A satin shirt with grey trimmings and black trousers that make him seem like one of the CEOs in the city. He’d never actually be a CEO because he’s a ghoul, but he certainly looks like the evil version of one. His eyes meet your own and you’re instantly hooked onto how fascinatingly beautiful he looks today. He also makes the mistake of taking more than a few seconds to speak as he looks over your body, drinking in the image of you until it’s burned into his memory.“I arrived early because I wanted to spend more time with you,” Jimin says. You almost laugh at his comment; it sounds like it’s straight out of the dramas that Seokjin and Yubin would watch together. “I didn’t know we had a set time I had to be home.”“If I keep you past midnight I may not be able to keep my hands to myself,” he tells you. Though he takes one step forward, you manage to hold your ground. He leans to your level and breathes deeply, lips so deadly close to your skin that your nerves are perceiving him as a threat. “Although, you may like that. So we shall see how the evening goes and then we can decide whether I’ll be keeping you past midnight. You know what happens to us after midnight.”“What, are you some kind of demon?” you ask him.He didn’t know that you knew he was a ghoul. You’ve never really asked, and he didn’t know you were an undine so he wouldn’t be aware that you had the power to know what he is. Your question is almost harmless.“Would it scare you if I was a demon?” Jimin questions. He’s still so close to you that you can hear his breathing, and if he was more human you may have heard a heart, too.But you don’t flinch. You barely even act like it’s bothered you, mostly because it hasn’t. He’d probably scare you less if he was a demon, because then all you needed was a name to control him. “Not really. Plus, I know your name. I don’t think you’re a demon, I’m just not particularly educated on what kind of creatures go into heat every day after 12am.”“Let’s talk in my car, it’s cold tonight.”He dodged that bullet with ease. You follow him to his car anyway, not stopping to look back or question the hand he’s placed on the small of your back. His car his black, too, with tinted windows and leather seats that you sit so easily on. His car is nice, you’ll bear that in mind.He doesn’t say a word for almost a mile. You catch him once looking over at you through the mirror but he doesn’t comment, opting to keep his eyes on the road without spooking you. Perhaps he knows that you’re going to press him again about what he is and if he was to admit he’s a ghoul, you’ll run away. That’s what everyone does, they run away when they find out someone is a ghoul.“My friends were surprised you spoke to us,” Jimin says. He doesn’t look over to you this time. “Or rather, you spoke to me. Not many people come to our booth when we leave the comfort of our own bars.”“I could tell. That vampire one looked rather confused to see someone who was remotely good approach them.”Jimin raises his eyebrow. “You knew he was a vampire?”“He was biting down on his lips with his fangs. I’m observant, he was probably the most vampire-looking vampire I’ve seen outside of Europe,” you answer.“You’ve been to Europe?”“Have you?” you return.Jimin hums, seemingly impressed with your answer to his question. Though you wanted to believe he wanted to get to know you better, living in a world like this means you have to keep a lot of information secret for a very long time. If you didn’t then people could use things against you.Instead, he changes the topic ever so slightly. “What kind are you then?”“I’m not one that is wholly good, and I’m not one that is easily scared.”“So you’re not an angel, nor a fairy. You can’t be a demon because your friend is a daemone. That’s a tough one, I don’t know what you are,” Jimin states. He bites down on his lip, causing the skin to become a little more red compared to before. You’re watching intently, staring at his lips and how they’re so beautifully formed, but Jimin’s voice catches your attention again. “But tell me, you’re not a hunter, are you?”He’d have to be careful with hunters. They catch all kinds of evil for doing barely anything wrong, such as going home with a girl who wasn’t one of their own. Things like that could get him arrested. “Done something bad, Jimin?”Jimin doesn’t answer. Instead, he’s silenced over the way you say his name. You notice how he swallows hard and grips the steering wheel a little tighter. You’d have said it earlier if you knew this was the reaction you were going to get. Jimin looks deadly hot when he does that, and it makes your thoughts go straight back to how nice the back of his car looked.“You’re right. The less we know about each other, the better,” Jimin voices. He’s mostly talking to himself, but you’re listening nonetheless. The way he speaks is so free and it draws you in completely. Your mind is lost for a moment as you sink into what he’s saying and forget the world around you. “Any information I need to know, I can get out of you one way or another.”☩☩☩☩“So this is where you work.”You’re startled by the voice you’d wished to hear, but not at this particular time. You’d been way too focused on the face of one of the members of this new group Yubin loved to even realise he had been standing over you. Oh, Taeil, you’re so good looking. What will it take for you to fall in love with me?
Ahem.
“Jimin,” you say softly, closing the tab on your computer and sitting up straighter. “I didn’t expect to see you here. Uh, is everything okay?”Jimin nods, leaning his hands on the counter so he can see you more clearly. Though a smile graces his lips it seems completely fake – you’re sure that he’s only smiling because he feels like he’s made an achievement in finding you here at work. “I’m fine. I just wanted to see you, that’s all. I got one of my friends to find you.”“How did he find me?” you ask.“He’s a djinni,” Jimin tells you. He’s honest with you and that, for a moment, scares you. He wouldn’t be so upfront with you unless he wanted something to with you. “So, I asked him to tell me where you were. And you know what djinnis do, they grant wishes. He had to tell me because I saved him from being arrested a few weeks back.”You raise an eyebrow. “Why was he almost arrested?”“Are we here to talk about us or my friend?”You don’t answer him, since he’s implying an answer you don’t particularly want to give. It’s annoying that he knows where you work now because he really is starting to know everything about you and that is worrying. If he knows where you work then he really can start to take advantage of you.Oh god, what if he’s a stalker in disguise and he’s going to follow you around everywhere?“You should have said you worked somewhere like this. I may have taken more consideration when I decided to take you on a date,” Jimin states. He looks over to the door that divides you from the rest of the building. “You work with the police?”“I’m a receptionist, Jimin.”“You still work with the police,” he says.Seeing that he’s not going to back down from his view, you hum. “They barely speak to me, and every time I see them they look down on me like I’m scum. So typical of humans, huh?”“I’m sure they’d have far more to say to me if they saw me out here.”“Why is that?” you question. Perhaps you’ll get more out of him now. “They’re just rude and obnoxious. They wouldn’t cause a problem with some random person. They just don’t like me working here because my ex-boyfriend was a demon and they said he was a threat to them. That’s the primary reason.”Jimin turns back to you with a frown. There’s a touch of concern in his eyes that you try to turn away from. Instead, you make yourself seem busy with your computer. “You dated a demon?”“Yeah.”“Why would you date a demon?”“Because I wanted to…”“But they were a demon.”Jimin, surprisingly, has taken the same stance as Yubin and Yoongi had taken when they found out you were dating that demon too. It’s honestly not that bad, some demons are nice and want to help people out. Sure, they kill people, but that’s because they have to. It’s not that much of a problem when ghouls exist. They make deaths slow and painful.Luckily, you can’t be killed by a demon or ghoul. Loophole.“They were,” you repeat, looking up to Jimin with an emotionless face. He still looks dark as ever, but his hair isn’t very tame and eyes a little red as though he hasn’t slept very much. It’s rather surprising, Jimin always looks so good. “Demons aren’t that scary. Or, are you scared of them, Jimin?”Jimin scoffs, shaking his head. “You think I’m scared of a creature that kills with no planning?”“You seemed to question me pretty quickly about the whole demon thing, so I’m just connecting the dots.”“I’m fearful for your lack of fear. Are you a spirit of some kind?” Jimin returns.“Well that’s no fun, I don’t know what kind of creature you are so why should I tell you what I am?”Most conversations you have with people start out with you telling them what kind of monster you are. Not Jimin, though. He didn’t want to tell you that he was a ghoul because you’d most likely run away, and you didn’t want him to know you were an undine because then he’d most likely run away. That was a pretty dismal circle, but that was how it worked.Demons were easy to date when you had no soul because they didn’t care. Most people ran away when they found out you didn’t have a soul because they’d think you’d never be able to care about them. Which was somewhat true, but due to the society you lived in, you’d learnt to have emotions. And such emotions were present when you were with Jimin. You felt your heart beat a little quicker and your thoughts were practically a mess.“I like you,” Jimin says. His words are rather cold at first but he leans onto the desk and gets closer to you, which makes your muscles clench tight with anticipation. “I didn’t think I would actually like you, but I do. You haven’t just given into me straight away and… yes, I like it.”“Uh… Thanks?”Jimin hums. He takes a step back from the desk and looks over to the door again, leaving you to watch him with curiosity. Though he doesn’t move, you can tell he wants to have a look through the door, which is confirmed by his words. “What’s through there, then?”“The police officers,” you tell him, “that’s where they do their work and sort the suspects out. You have to be granted access to go back there.”“Are you allowed to go back there?” Jimin asks. You nod, pushing yourself back from your desk a little. “Of course. They had to do a background check and everything before I got this job so that they could make sure I wouldn’t kill anyone working here.”“What time do you finish tonight?” he continues, another question thrown your way that you didn’t particularly expect from him.“Just after four.”“Do you want to go out tonight, when you’ve finished?”You raise your eyebrow at his question. Though you didn’t think your date with him went terribly, you do think it was a bit quiet. You both weren’t sure what to ask one another. Either way, you’re tempted to say no but there’s a voice in the back of your head that says to go.It would be a disaster if you made him angry and he showed up here, or at home, telling you that you needed to do what he said or he’d start stealing the souls from people you knew.He couldn’t take your soul anyway, so there wasn’t a problem – you weren’t in that much danger.“Where we you thinking?”Jimin looks back up to you with a blank expression. You guess he didn’t expect you to agree so easily. “You’ll go?”“I think you’re interesting too, Jimin. So yeah, I’ll go out with you.”“Great,” he answers. He walks back to the desk and scribbles down on the back of a white leaflet a number and an address, both of which mean nothing to you. “I’ll pick you up then, we’ll be going there. Look at their menu online and find something you like. Dress a little more casual, too. It’s not a very formal place.”☩☩☩☩You’re minding your own business in the kitchen, making some coffee, when you’re stopped by Yubin. She pulls at your arm to get your attention and you decide reluctantly to remove your earbud to listen to what she has to say. It’s not like you were listening to that, or anything.“How many dates have you been on now?” she asks you, sitting across from you on the table and making sure you take notice of the fact she’s looking directly at you. “Are you starting to fall in love with him?”“Fall in love?” you repeat.Yubin nods, raising an eyebrow at your apparent surprise to what she’s said. “I know that you have all those whacky emotions going on, but lets be real here. You can fall in love if you wanted to, even if it was with some creepy ghoul that hangs around places you’d rather die than be in.”“That’s an over exaggeration,” you comment, “he hangs around in pretty civilised areas, his friends are normal compared to others. I think they’re all pretty young and shy, whereas we have dumb and dumber with us and they make every male seem stupid.”“Yoongi and Seokjin are alright,” Yubin argues. Now, it’s in your nature to want to be right. You’d argued a lot with Yubin and Yoongi over it, and often it got you in all kinds of trouble because if someone spoke back to you, you definitely had something to say. “They once dragged us to a zoo and tried to smuggle a penguin home. Now who’s banned from the zoo.”“That’s beside the point, we’re talking about Jimin and his ghoul behaviour that you’re not scared of at all.”No, you’re not scared of it. You were sure that Yoongi wasn’t scared either, mostly because he was one of the most powerful creatures to roam earth and he could destroy Jimin without even thinking about it. Jimin didn’t have any leverage on you and you knew he couldn’t take your non-existent soul, so the only thing you could be worried about was those friends of his.And his friends were mostly harmless. The group consisted of Taehyung, Jungkook, Namjoon and Hoseok; a vampire, djinni, jinkiniki and valkyries respectively. Though they were inherently evil, they’d never killed anyone and they were each careful around those who aren’t evil too. Jimin had told you about the time that Taehyung had tried speaking to someone outside their friendship group and also had a fit because of it.Hence, they were all harmless. Jimin was probably the one who could do the most damage because ghouls didn’t have that many emotions, much like you.“If he wanted to hurt me, he would have done it by now,” you tell her. A shiver runs down your spine because of how cold it is in the room and you reach for your mug of coffee to warm your hands. “Let me leave it at this. Ghouls want souls, I don’t have a soul. He’s sticking around for more than my soul.”Yubin nods, her hair falling over her face as she looks down at the table. She waits for the briefest of moments before returning her attention to you and sighing. “What if he doesn’t know you don’t have a soul?”“Are you crazy?”“No, I’m being logical,” she tells you, “you’ve not told him you don’t have a soul, nor have you told him you’re an undine. It’s pretty easy for him to make an assumption you do have a soul because most people do.”“He’s a ghoul, he can just tell. Duh. All the demons do.”“I didn’t know you were so educated in ghoulology.”Though you roll your eyes at her comment, she makes a very good point. For all you know Jimin still thinks he can get a soul out of you and leave you for almost-dead along the way. But that’s impossible. He wouldn’t stick around for this long if that was his only intention.Right?☩☩☩☩“I’d like you to meet my friends,” Jimin says, holding an arm out to the group of four boys that are sat on a table, looking completely scared of you. “This is Jungkook, Namjoon, Hoseok and Taehyung. They’ve been looking forward to meeting you.”“Jimin doesn’t shut up about you,” Namjoon says, pushing his bleached hair back over his head as he stretches his hand out for you to shake. You take it wearily, shaking his hand only after he nods his head at the hand as if your supposed to take it or he’ll cause trouble. Of course he won’t actually hurt you, but he’s a jinkiniki, they’re the most selfish creatures out there. His family were probably decent in their lives at one point, but became selfish and now Namjoon’s stuck here with the other cursed lot.Though he does have that look in his eye that makes you want to move away from him. The best thing that could happen is he keeps his thoughts and ideas to himself. Somehow, he’s not even the worst one at this table.“Nice to meet you,” Hoseok greets, standing up so that he can hug you. He smiles widely and embraces you in his arms, but you can’t hear a heartbeat from him. “Jimin says you’re nice, I hope we can be friends.”He has to have little care for the world. He can’t have a heart if he decides who lives and dies – he’s not even a grim reaper, but he’d be much more respected if he was. Because, in a world like this, someone who can only chose who dies in a fight or a battle is only worth so much. Back when contact sports like boxing existed, he may have been taken more seriously. Then there’s Jungkook and Taehyung. They’re both shy and just smile at you, and that damn Vampire Taehyung is still biting into his lips and drawing more blood. It would have caught you off-guard, but once Yoongi had a vampire girlfriend and she bit him everywhere.“Pick what you want to eat, I’ll buy lunch today,” Jimin tells the group. He’s sitting next to you but he barely bats an eyelid at you. That’s what it’s like the majority of the time. He’s far more interested in what Taehyung and Jungkook have to say, leaving you to talk about more serious things with both Hoseok and Namjoon. They seem like nice people, but you can just catch the selfish and dark edge peeking through the edges of their characters.Like how Namjoon loves to bring the conversation back to himself, and Hoseok only talks about stories that involve death. And they ask you what you like.“Well I have lots of hobbies,” you say.“No, not like that,” Hoseok returns. He rolls his eyes and turns to Namjoon with a smirk. “We mean, what kind of things do you have to like so that you fit in with who you are?”Though you swallow hard, Jimin isn’t paying attention. You know he isn’t because he’s playing some phone game with Taehyung and looks like an absolute child as he’s doing it, but somehow still looks cute. He’s so your type, a mix of dark and soft in one.“Water.”They both raise their eyebrows. “You’re a water type creature?”“Well, I guess,” you answer.“Are you a mermaid?” Namjoon asks. There’s a sense of lust in his eyes. “I’ve always wanted to meet a mermaid. They’re perfect for me. Just enough evil for me to cope.”You shake your head and draw a short breath. Jimin hasn’t worked out what you are yet, and that worries you. “I’m a water spirit.”“Like just any water spirit? Or an undine?”Jimin’s attention seems to be caught with that. He turns to join the conversation and there’s such observation in his eyes. You can’t save yourself from this once because lying to a ghoul, a vampire, a djinni, a valkyries and a jinkiniki is not the best idea in the world. You’re fortunately saved by lunch which is served by the time you have to answer. Jungkook and Taehyung cause enough of a fuss for it not to matter anymore and the subject of what you are is forgotten in no time. Not by you, though. You realise that what Yubin said is probably correct. Jimin has no idea you’re an undine because he would have told them, and that means he probably hasn’t worked out yet that you don’t have a soul. Two things which are vital right now.“Thanks for lunch, Jimin,” you thank him, quietly. You know either Namjoon or Hoseok is watching from the other side of the table but you ignore it, offering a smile and shuffling away from Jimin slowly. “I’m just going to the bathroom, I’ll be out in a second.”He nods once and you seem to almost run from him, heading towards the corner of the café where you had seen the sign for the toilets. You’d have to text Yubin for help on the matter and pray she would give you some advice, otherwise you’d have to turn to Yoongi and he was barely any help in any situation. But you don’t get to, because you’re stopped before you even make it to the toilet.By one of his friends, too.“Listen to me carefully,” Jungkook says. You’d not spoken to him once today and it seems a little out of place that suddenly he’s so confident in speaking with you. You nod anyway, frowning. “Jimin only wants one thing from you. You know that, don’t you?”You don’t answer. His words don’t particularly make sense to you in the way he wants them to.“Your soul. That’s all he wants. He hasn’t been able to get a soul in about four years and he’s desperate. He thinks he can get one from you and it’s tormenting him.”“He’s not going to get my soul,” you tell him, “you don’t have to worry about me, it’s fine. Jimin doesn’t just want my soul because he wouldn’t have given up by now.”Jungkook looks at you with a blank face. He obviously thought you were going to believe him more quickly than that. “Jimin doesn’t have feelings.”“Neither do I, and look where I am.”You bow your head and walk into the toilet, leaving him on his own and forgetting what he has to say. Jimin has to know you don’t have a soul. How can you not know that?☩☩☩☩The fresh leather sent doesn’t really hit you until you’re laying on it. Back pressed so tightly to the black material that you think you may be stuck to it. Your entire body I got enough, your mind is restless and almost gone at this point. All you can think is that you need him. You need his lips closer and his hands all over you. He’ll give it to you, eventually. He’ll touch you and make you scream his name like no one else could and at the end of the day you’d hate him for the fact you had no voice left, but you’ll love him for making you feel so good. “Jimin,” you cry breathlessly, eyes shut as you feel his fingertips drift over the curve of your thigh, “please, Jimin. Please.” “Please what?” He questions. The voice he uses is so stern that it hurts you. Though you want to fight back and make him follow your words, you can’t do that. You can’t force him to listen to what you’re telling him to do. Who knew he was such a tease? Who knew. “Please give me more,” you beg. It must be so glorifying for him to have you in this position. The back of his car which you knew you’d love just by looking at it. You wanted this to happen, you just didn’t realise how soon. You wanted him to push you down and kiss you all over until your body was numb and he could make you forget everything. “Do you think you deserve more?” Jimin questions. There’s a palm on your thigh that’s getting oh so near to your thigh and it makes you wonder whether he’s going to go the whole way with you. You’re not even drunk. You feel like you’re drunk off him though. “Been a good girl, have you?” You nod, rather rapidly. Looking up to Jimin’s face you see the dark haze surrounding him. He looks down to you with the most chilling of smirks and it runs through your body like hell. That’s where he’s going to send you at this rate and you can barely cope. It’s hard enough looking up to him but the way he looks back down ruins you. So you whine. The shortest noise comes from your mouth and you reach for Jimin, trying to pull him closer to you. No verbal answer, you can’t give it to him. It’s like you’re stuck under his spell, yet there is none. “Answer me.” Jimin’s words are harsh. They’re in response to the way you try to pull at his hair but fail. They’re a way of him knocking down your confidence so that you’ll listen to everything he says. “I’ve been a good girl,” you answer him, finally. You think that maybe he’ll be nice to you. Perhaps you’ve forgotten all that you know about Jimin but the likelihood of him giving you what you want him to is nil. Not without something in return. If you give him something that he wants he may react in a different way and you’ll get what you want to. Oh gosh. It feels like your thoughts are messed up and all over the place. You can’t bring them back. “Good enough for me to touch you here,” Jimin asks. You’re lost in his voice but pulled out of a dreamland but his soft stroke over your clothed core. It’s barely anything but it hits you so hard. You lose your mind for a second. “Tell me baby. Otherwise you don’t get anything.” “I have been good enough.” “And you only want me to touch you there?” You nod, again. The circles you’re going in aren’t helping. You’ve been craving him since he put his hand too close to your sensitive areas and kept pestering you until you were like putty in his hands. No you were going to do whatever he wanted, and you weren’t going to do anything about that. It was his appeal. The dark hair and dark eyes and pale skin. The way he looked at you like you were all he ever wanted, and how he watched you so closely from across the room. The eyes that watch you like a hawk, like you’re his prey and as though he could have you in a heartbeat. Which he did. “You don’t even want me to take off your shirt?” He asks. The neglected attention to the rest of your body was something you could complain about another day. For now, you just wanted him to yourself. You wanted him to make you cum on the leather of his car seats and scream so loud that everyone around here knew. Before you know it, he’s giving you part of what you wanted. A stray finger runs over your clit as Jimin makes an attempt to pull your underwear away from you. Even the bare minimum of touches is enough to make you whimper and arch your back, forcing yourself to his touch. He pulls away from you, though. He’s not giving in that easily. He does no more for a moment. Though he’s lingering, he’s waiting for you to forget to expect him, when he finally places his thumb on your bundle of nerves you can barely speak. Your voice has left your body and all you can do is look up to the roof of his car with your mouth wide open and muscles tense. “Do you know how badly I want to taste you?” Jimin questions, the words lingering in the air for a moment. He’s rubbing circles and then something more on your clit and it’s driving you to the edge of insanity for now. Your heavy breathing and slight whimpering is music to his ears. “Can I?” You hum. There’s nothing else that you can bring yourself to do, so a hum at his words is the best you can give. It’s more than enough though. Barely a second goes by before you’ve got the feeling of his lips on your clit, too. He’s sucking, he’s biting, he’s making your body feel numb with emotions as you get closer and closer to the edge with him all over you. One of his hands is holding your waist down and the other is around your thigh so you’re as close as you can be to him. And you’re a mess. A hot, whimpering mess that can barely control your own emotions. You’re sure that you’re grinding down into Jimin’s face so he can get closer to you, so that his tongue laps at your juices and hits your core in all the right places. Not that he minds. He praises you, he gives you every word about oh baby, you taste so sweet and I could do this every day. A people pleaser, that’s what Jimin is. He’ll do anything to have those around him submit to him and that’s what you’re doing right now. Giving in to him. Giving him everything that he wants. “Are you close?” Jimin’s voice echoes around the car and your response isn’t immediate. You’re lost in his good he feels when he speaks, the words vibrating against your core. Instead of answering him you reach for his hair and pull him back to you. Thank god he doesn’t resist. He keeps going. Pleasuring you with those forsaken lips and mouth that would be on your mind for days. You’re crying out his name by the time he’s done with you. You’re giving him the leverage that he needs over you to give him everything he wants. And he’s not even half way to being finished yet. ☩☩☩☩You’re sat in the middle of your bed when Yubin bursts into your room, wanting to talk to you about something. You never actually heard what she wanted to talk about because your music was so loud and she never gave you a chance to ask, meaning that you were aimlessly watching her pace up and down for whatever reason she had.Really, you don’t want to ask her what the problem is because then you’re going to be dragged into whatever it is and you’ll have to help her because she’s your friend and you’re a good person. Of course you are. The only person who didn’t agree with that was Min Yoongi, and that was because he only ever saw the worst in people.
Damn dragon.
“I’m in the right, aren’t I?” Yubin asks. On her lips is a pout and she has a wet look in her eyes. “He’s being a complete dickhead. Like, what does Seokjin have to do to realise that I’m only saying what’s best for him? Uh. It’s so annoying. I really hate him some times!”You roll your eyes. “You don’t hate anyone.”“That’s not the point!”“Fine, what is the point then?” you question. Yubin stops for a moment to look you dead in the eyes. “You always have this argument with Seokjin. One of you does something and makes the other a little jealous. Can’t you two just decide whether you want to be together or not.”Yubin groans. She ends up flopping down onto your bed and closing her eyes so that she can let out a deep sigh that’s been held in this entire time. “Not everyone can act like Yoongi does.”“What does Yoongi have to do with this?” you ask her.Yoongi isn’t great with emotions. He can be sarcastic and rude and sometimes he’s nice, but when it comes to admitting how he feels, it’s nearly impossible. For him, anyway. Both Seokjin and Yubin claim they can read him, but you’ve never been able to. Apparently it’s your non-existent soul powers.“Yoongi is always jealous and the people he’s jealous because of never work it out,” she says. You feel as though she’s acting a little bitter but ignore it anyway. “Seokjin is who I’m meant to protect with my life, but that doesn’t mean I like him.”“Except… you do like Seokjin.”“Not that he knows!”You do fear for a moment that you’re going to be roped into the relationship conversation, but you’re luckily saved by the sound of your phone echoing through the room. Yubin gestures for you to answer, and considering which name popped up, you weren’t going to decline it.“Hello?”“It’s nice to hear your voice when it’s so miserable outside,” he says. You’re reminded of the mental image of Jimin when he smiles and it brings some happiness to your miserable day, too. “I missed you. Are you busy?”“Am I busy?” you repeat.Your words catch the attention of Yubin who raises her eyebrows, deciding to leave the room before you carry on. Thank god she got the hint or that count have been awkward. “Yeah.”“I was with one of my friends but she just left. Is something wrong?”“Like I said, I missed you. I wanted to talk to you. Maybe we could do something later,” Jimin says. He points are quite rushed and he’s jumping from word to word. You think that maybe, for some reason, he’s nervous.“I’m not busy later,” you tell him, smiling to yourself. You want to spend time with him, too, even if it means just sitting across from him at a table and looking at that beautiful face the entire time. “Do you maybe want to go to that restaurant near to the station? My friend said it’s really nice there.”Jimin hums, but stays silent for a moment. You’re worried you’ve done something until he finally speaks. “I was thinking that maybe you should come over here, actually.”Now you’d have usually said yes without thinking, but there’s things on your mind. There’s his car the other day, and Jungkook’s words. You’ve had sex with him and there wasn’t much else that he would ask you over to do. Maybe he does just want to spend time together, but Jimin is far too dark for kisses on the couch and chocolate covered strawberries in each others arms. That’s not how he works and you know that already.Jungkook’s convinced he just wants you for your soul. You’re not sure how that actually works, because you’re still alive and you have no soul, but if Jimin wanted it that badly you would have to be in a private space. Like… his home. Where he wanted you to go right now.But that was dependent on you believing this entire idea of Jimin just wanting you for your soul. If he was blinded by anything, he certainly wasn’t blinded by your grace. He was blinded by his feelings or some kind of attraction he felt towards you.“Is that a no?” Jimin asks.“I haven’t answered yet,” you reply. Your tone is a little off but Jimin doesn’t comment. “What will we be doing?”There’s a dark chuckle from the other end of the phone line which makes a shiver run down your spine. It’s so Jimin that you don’t really believe it yourself. “I think we had some unfinished business for before in my car, don’t you think?”You suppose there’s no harm in going, but you know to tell Yubin where you’re going before you leave. You need to know if Jimin realises you don’t have a soul or not.☩☩☩☩Jimin’s place is different to what you expected.Despite the fact that Yoongi and Yubin had joked about his walls being black and curtains being drawn so that barely any sunlight got to him, his apartment was exactly like that.Eighth floor in a building that was full of bad people. You’d noticed that when you were in the life and a group of other ghouls entered the lift. They’d ignored you for a moment but when one of them turned to you, all the others did too. They knew exactly who you were, but you didn’t know if they could sense if they had a soul or not. They did, however, look like they wanted your soul. So on the floor you were meant to get off at, you made sure to run the room number eighty-eight and pray that they weren’t following. Then, if they were, you’d have to hope Jimin would save your ass from his weird ghoul friends that wanted you for…Your soul. That was literally all a ghoul ever wanted someone for.“I’m glad you made it,” Jimin says. He brings you through into his main room and sits you down on the couch that’s against the wall, then sits across from you. “I really didn’t think you were going to show up. Something told me that you were scared.”“Scared of what?”Jimin stays silent. He only looks at you with the faintest hint of destruction in his eyes. If you were any other person you’d have run away by now, but you’re not. Jimin has nothing on you, and if he tries to kill you, Yubin will definitely know that it’s him.“Scared of you?” you ask him this time, “I don’t really think I have any reason to be scared of you, Jimin. Unless there’s something you haven’t told me, which is why I should be scared of you?”“Don’t be silly. I don’t want you to be scared of me.”Though his words aren’t comforting, Jimin does move himself so that he’s sitting next to you. Your knee just brushes his own and he places the tips of his fingers on your own hand, bringing it up to his chest and placing it over the middle where his heart should be.But there’s no heartbeat. There shouldn’t be one, and you knew that already. It seems as though he’s opening up to you and that makes you more than happy. It makes you feel like you’re actually going to get somewhere with him.“I don’t have a heart,” Jimin tells you. He seems to get a little closer to you, just so you can smell his aftershave in the air. “I think you should know. I don’t have a heart so usually I make decisions without any feeling. I don’t want you to think that I don’t care, because I do. I just care about you with my being, not my heart. I don’t have emotions like humans.”You bear to stifle a laugh at his words. “Do you think that anyone really has emotions like humans do anymore?”Jimin doesn’t laugh back though. He’s being so serious about this and even though you’re not entirely sure why it means so much to him—he’s only confessing that he doesn’t have a heart, which a lot of creatures also don’t have these days—when really, the problem is that he’s a damned ghoul. So you stop laughing and instead look down towards the floor. If you can’t beat them, join them.“Emotions are overrated, Jimin.”“Do you really feel that way?” Jimin asks. His hair is pushed back over his head and his wide eyes seem to shine in the light that’s around you. Even though he’s got a smaller frame than some other ghouls, he commands authority to all those around him. “No one really says that unless they don’t have emotions themselves.”You swallow thickly, feeling a problem starting to brew. “I’m just saying.”“Do you have emotions?” Jimin asks.“Some,” you tell him. It’s not a lie, but it isn’t the truth. You’ve twisted what really happens so it sounds less inconspicuous. “Less than most, but some.”Jimin nods. You think that maybe you’ve cracked him and he won’t say anything else on the conversation because he looks away and drops you hand, but keeps the very tips on your skin. You’ve never realised how deathly cold he is, or you are. You’re both the same temperature and it’s strange, because usually it’s just you with no heat running through your body. Even the atmosphere in the room is awkward because no one knows what to say. Neither of you particularly want to talk and… this hasn’t really happened before.“What are you?” Jimin questions this time. His hand is pulled from your body and he shuffles away from you as gently as he can. “I never asked you, and you never told me. I have no idea what you are.”You guess that you can’t avoid it anymore. You can lie to him and ruin anything that could happen in the future or tell him and maybe ruin anything that could happen in the future. Telling him is the lesser of two evils.“I’m a water spirit.”“Water spirit,” he repeats. The words are so soft and you can see it on his face that he’s thinking. “You’re a spirit.”Jimin has this look about him which usually tells you that there’s a problem. Sometimes it’s the dark of his eyes or the way he starts to breath so uncanny. Usually you can tell by his voice but this time he’s not saying anything. But when he does speak, in a voice that you wished you’d never have heard, you regret not just lying to him about this one thing.“You’re an undine.”☩☩☩☩He hasn’t spoken to you. Not in about four days and it’s starting really annoy you because you know for a fact that he’s not busy. He hasn’t had anything to do at all. You know he hasn’t. Jimin never has anything to keep him preoccupied. Not that you believe a word of what he says now, anyway.“He’s probably got some ghoul work to do,” Yoongi says. He’s sitting across from you at the table and idly sipping on his cup of coffee. He’s surprisingly the only one awake this morning; usually the two of you are the last to wake up. “Maybe you’re overthinking this.”You shake your head at Yoongi and look back down towards the table, as well as your phone that’s still got a black screen. “He knows that I’m an undine now. Is it a coincidence that he wouldn’t answer me after all this time? His friend was right, so were all of you. He just wanted a soul and I can’t give him that so… he’s gone.”“You’re more than a soul. He wouldn’t have stuck around for that long if he just wanted your soul.”Yoongi’s trying to be nice to you, and as much as you wish it would work, you’ve already got it in your mind that Jimin wanted you for the soul and that wasn’t going to just go away. It would take a near miracle (or, him texting you) for you to know that everything was okay.“You’re a good person, you know that right?” Yoongi says. He looks up to you with the slightest of smiles and you fail to give him one in return. “Jimin is a complete idiot if he gives you up purely because you don’t have a soul. Whatever reason he has for it. He might not have ever wanted you for your soul, he might just not know what to do now that he knows you don’t have one. People in society don’t always know what they’re supposed to do when they meet someone who’s not got a soul, even the ones who don’t have a soul themselves.”“But if he really did care about me, he wouldn’t have left.”Yoongi hums. “Not everyone acts like I would, or Yubin and Seokjin. We’re all on the good side, we’re programmed to make sure we don’t disregard people and cast them away. He’s a ghoul. He doesn’t have feelings. How he cared for you is different to how I care for people. It’s different to how you care for people.”“Not even a demon would cast you aside like he did with me. He isn’t even acting like he doesn’t get my texts. He reads them and just ignores them. Even your shitty ex-girlfriend was better than that,” you state. Yoongi’s ex never actually said what she was but she was rude and bitter. You’d have rather eaten a poison apple than speak with her.“He’s not a demon though, is he?” Yoongi’s words are a little frustrating, mostly because you know you’ve been looking at this all the wrong way. You keep comparing Jimin to others, even though you’ve never known anyone like Jimin before. “Jimin has his own way of acting and maybe this is normal for him. Forget about your soul for a minute. What if he’s scared of commitment and this was the final straw?”You shake your head. “We weren’t even close to a relationship.”“So it was just sex?”No words leave your lips. It would be a lie to say yes but wrong to say no. Jimin seemed to be on the verge of showing you he wanted something more with you but never got there. It hurts you to know that this could all be over because you’d been honest with him.“It doesn’t matter what it was between you. Do you really think that Jimin would have wanted you for your soul and just your soul?”You hum. Though you pick at a the wood on the table, the subtle pain of the splinters feels good to you. “I think he could have.”“And is that just because of what his friend said?” Yoongi questions.“It’s because of what he’s said to me, too,” you answer. It takes a deep sigh for you to carry on. “The way he acts and what he does. It all makes him seem so sinister. Like… he wants me to give in to him. I brushed it off as him being a ghoul but he said to me that he said we had some unfinished business and I really don’t know if that meant he was… ugh, Yoongi. I don’t know. I don’t know what to think anymore.”Yoongi nods. He has a caring look in his eyes that you’re not used to seeing, but it still comforts you in the strangest of ways. “If we give him the benefit of the doubt, it could just be that he is scared of something. If you look to far into things you’ll start to make things up. The best thing you can do is find out whether or not you did mean anything to him.”“And how do I do that?”“You go to his house and you stand in his door until he listens to you, duh,” Yoongi says. He laughs, but stops when he realises that you’re not following. He clears his throat and runs his hands back through his dishevelled hair. “I’ll come with you. So will Yubin and Seokjin if you want them to. We’re not ditching you because of a mistake you made.”It sounds like a good idea to have them with you. You know that Yoongi will help you out and the others too, but you don’t particularly want to drag them all into this. You also have to consider that Yubin will most definitely say I told you so when she finds out all of this.Regardless, you nod at Yoongi’s suggestion. The shattered remains of a smile are starting to piece together on your lips as you thank him. “There’s a lot of ghouls where he lives.”“And I’m a dragon, remember?”☩☩☩☩You’d protested once or twice in the car at this, despite accepting it earlier. There was something less appealing about confronting Jimin with Seokjin and Yubin than there was with confronting him with Yoongi. Yoongi was naturally scary, whereas Yubin and Seokjin alike relied on their overall cuteness to appeal to people.Yet here you are, standing outside Jimin’s door with the three of them, waiting to call him out for everything. Except he’s not opening the door.“He’s probably not even home yet,” you tell them, “this was completely pointless. Even if he is just ignoring me this is proof I should just let it go and forget about him.”Yoongi rolls his eyes and heads towards the door himself. He knocks once, then again before standing directly in front of the door. “We’re not leaving until you’ve spoken to him.”“But what if I don’t want to speak to him?” you ask.“Then you shouldn’t have agreed with me earlier,” he answers. Yubin nods in agreement and Seokjin offers you a sympathetic smile as though he really does feel bad for you. He’s lying too. “He’ll talk, we just have to wait for him to do it. No offence (y/n), but you don’t really scare me. Maybe we have to fight fire with fire to get to him.”Seokjin agrees. “He won’t talk if there’s no reason to.”“Well what do you suggest we do then?”“Break down his door?” Yubin suggests. All three of you look over to here with frowns at her suggestion. You expected that idea to come up, but not at this time or from her. “I’m just saying. He’s more likely to talk if he feels threatened too. We have a dragon on our side, why aren’t we burning this building down?”“Because we don’t want Yoongi to be arrested. That’s a pretty big thing,” you remind her.Yoongi is quiet, however. He’s looking at the door as though he’s assessing whether or not he should actually burn it down (or break it down, for lack of a better alternative) despite the consequences that come with it. Seokjin is more likely to break down that door, despite what Yoongi is.He must really be considering it. You’re actually thankful that the door opened before Yoongi can do something stupid, but you’re not so thankful for the face that’s at the door. You’re reminded of the actual problem that you’re here to face.“Is there a problem?” Jimin asks. His voice is so cold. You barely would have been able to relate him to the Jimin you were talking to before who seemed to open up with his feelings. They’re nothing alike. “Are you knocking at my door for a reason, or not?”“Are you kidding?”Jimin raises an eyebrow at Yoongi. Though they’re about the same height, Jimin has the upper hand. He could ruin Yoongi in a second because Yoongi has a soul. “Does it look like I’m kidding? I asked why you’re here.”“I want to know if you ever liked me,” you state. There’s no point watching the two of them fight. You won’t risk something happening to Yoongi because of you or something you’ve done. Really, it’s your fault for thinking this was a good idea, bringing everyone. You should have come here alone, but you’re here now, and you’re going to sort this out so you can forget Jimin and move on from it all.“Liked you?” Jimin asks. He looks at you with the most uncaring of eyes and it sends a shiver through your body. There’s the undermining and completely degrading element to his stare but you disregard it. “Do you really think that I’m capable of liking someone?”You want to laugh. It would only be reasonable to send a bitter laugh back in his direction and ignore everything else he could say to you. “You said you cared about me.”“I think you’re misinterpreting my words,” Jimin states.“What’s there to misinterpret about that?” Yoongi asks, turning to Jimin with a look in his eye that you recognise from very few times before. Yoongi’s getting angry. You can’t stop him from feeling that way but you don’t want there to be any problems in general, let alone in a building full of ghouls. “Don’t be a dickhead, Jimin. What’s your game?”“My game?”Jimin’s repetition of Yoongi’s words is filled with such a hatred you’ve never seen before. One that isn’t present in the every day person. You believe that maybe, just maybe, Yoongi can get through to Jimin. It’s unlikely if they’re going to act like this though. It’s all going to crash and burn.He just looks at you again. Eyes that lack life because no heart beats beneath. You should have listened to Jungkook and all of the others. They all were right about everything. Jimin wanted you for nothing other than the soul you never had.“Did you think that we were going to be together?” Jimin asks you.His question is gravelling and you hate how it makes your blood boil. You shouldn’t waste your breath on him. “No.”“Then why are you here?” he continues to question. He takes one step out from his door and looks down at you. He makes you feel so small. “I hurt your feelings, you can’t deny that. What, did you not know that I was a ghoul? I think you knew from the moment we met. I think that you thought I was different from the other bloody thirsty ghouls that harass people in the street.”“Maybe I did.”“Then you’re naïve and stupid,” Jimin states, “no ghoul is different. You’re lucky it was me that had you stuck on a leash and not one of the others. Because they wouldn’t have hesitated to kill you when they found out all that chasing was for nothing.”At least he’s honest. No lying now. “You did just want me for my soul.”“As does any ghoul you meet here or there. I don’t think you’re as hurt as you think you are.”“Is it nice?” Yubin joins in the talking. She takes a step away from Seokjin and stands up for you like you wish she would have that night you met Jimin. “Treating people like this. Do you get some kind of kick out of it?”Jimin scoffs. “I thought we were clear that I didn’t feel anything. What separates people like you and I is that those like me are selfish. Us people that you call bad only think for ourselves and how we can benefit. I don’t care how any of you feel about what I’ve done. I just care that I left empty handed.”There’s a silence that falls over the room. Jimin is watching over all of you to see if you make a move or attempt to talk back to him. You’ve lost your will to speak and Yubin won’t say more. Seokjin is too nice to say a bad word to Jimin. Yoongi is just standing there with gritted teeth. So Jimin takes that as his cue to leave. He takes a step back and bows his head at all of you, taking a step away from the door again so that he can shut it. There’s so much that you want to say to him but you can’t get it out. Too much emotion is running through your body and you’re not used to it. You’re not supposed to feel this. You’re not supposed to feel like this. ]“Who gave you the right to go around treating people like that?”Jimin laughs at Yoongi. He doesn’t hesitate to form any kind of respect to his elder and superior in so many ways, degrading Yoongi to nothing more than a voice. “Didn’t we just go through this?”“It’s not nice,” Yoongi tells him.“The world isn’t nice,” Jimin answers. He rolls his eyes and tries to shut the door, but Yoongi stops him. You’ve never seen such red in someone’s eyes. “Who are you to come here and criticise me for how I live my life?”You pull at Yoongi’s arm to get him to quit. You don’t want this to carry on, you want him to leave it. Forget Jimin and move on so you all can. He tries to hold his ground but fails, eventually giving into you and letting you pull him away. You’re not sure if Jimin’s watching you walk away but you hope that he’s at least happy he won.Even if it feels like you’re about to give up on getting some kind of justice from this all, there’s always some kind of silver lining. Your version of this silver lining comes in the form of Yoongi pulling away from you at the end of the corridor. And Jimin is watching. He’s watching as Yoongi shows his true form; one he’s rarely ever shown before.☩☩☩☩“You didn’t have to do that,” you say softly.“I had to,” Yoongi answers. He takes a sip of his lemonade through the straw and shrugs. “I know I look like I don’t care about you. I’m rude to you all the time and I treat you like shit. But I do care about you and I won’t let an asshole like that ruin you.”You shake your head. “Yoongi didn’t ruin me.”“But he was still a dickhead,” Yoongi corrects you. You’d not expected him to act like that. Yoongi’s been pissed off and annoyed like that in the past but never enough to show his true form. He’s one of those good dragons who are calm and don’t abuse their power. Today, he used his power for something which he deemed necessary and even if you didn’t agree, it was really fucking cool.“You’re pretty cool, Yoongi,” you tell him. He looks up to you with wide eyes and raised brows, obviously not expecting your comment. Though he doesn’t act like Seokjin does when you compliment him—showing thanks and being totally over the top about it all—you can see the slight blush starting to crepe onto his cheeks. “I know I said that you weren’t as cool as others, but you are. I’m glad that I have you in my life.”“You don’t have to say that.”“But I do, ‘cause it’s true. I don’t think I ever thanked you enough for saving me that night and taking me under your wing. I am really thankful.”Yoongi looks down to the table, avoiding your eyes for a moment. “I don’t need thanks for doing my duty as an everyday citizen.”“Can you stop playing the tough guy for a moment and accept what I have to say?”“Fine, fine.” Yoongi looks up to you and sighs, shutting his eyes for a moment. Though he drags out his time, he pushes his hair back from his face and smiles. “It’s okay. I’d do it all again to make sure you’re safe. Like I said, I do care about you. Whether you have emotions or not, a soul or not. You mean a lot to me.”“Jimin said pretty similar things to me,” you state.Yoongi kisses his teeth and looks away from you, turning his body so it’s facing to the side. “If we’re going to talk about Jimin then I’m leaving, no questions about that.”“Alright, I won’t talk about him. I’ll accept your confession and forget about my past.”“Who said I was confessing?” Yoongi questions. He narrows his eyes at you and leans closer to you. “Do you really think that I’m going to confess to you?”You just shake your head. That was a problem you could deal with another day. “I think we should start planning how Seokjin and Yubin get together, since we’re the dream team in sorting out problems.”
