What Wont Heal

Work Text

At first, he didn’t feel anything. Perhaps it had something to do with the pure rage boiling under his skin, his heart pounding in his chest as he continues to fight. How strange... You would think that one would experience the after effects of a large claw slicing down the side of your face, digging right into your skin.   It does hit him eventually, Trevor crying out in pain and gritting his teeth together from the sudden rush of blood dribbling out from his wound. The crimson liquid slides right down the punctured surface of his face, sliding between his lashes and falling into his eye socket. It continues to slide down, feeling it hook over his jawline and drip onto the castle carpet below.   There’s also a shot of pain from his chest, the warmth of blood falling down his upper body as well. Trevor backs up from the fight for a moment, knowing he can’t stay away too long. Alucard, Sypha, and Grant already have enough on their hands from Dracula. But Alucard gives Trevor a knowing look, seeing as he has a wound of his own hidden underneath, and he steps in to substitute for his comrade.   Trevor reaches into a pocket on his trenchcoat and takes out a potion. The brunette presses the bottle to his lips, drinking the liquid inside. It’s not much, but it will at least help him with his pain, holding him off until the fight is over so he can heal.   Looking back up at the fight from his spot, the man realizes something. Reaching a brown gloved hand upwards in front of his face, Trevor sees the problem; his lack of vision. While Dracula slashed his face, he must’ve taken his eye out, too. With only one blue pupil left, the brunette clenches his fists, holds the vampire killer tight, and runs back into the battle. The rage hits him again, adding on to his motivation for killing the vampire.-   It’s over... Finally, it’s over. Dracula is dead, and Castlevania has crumbled to the ground. Valahiei is at peace, and the four of them can rest from this long battle. Abandoning the side of the cliff after watching the castle fall, the crew makes their way to the nearest village to rest and clean up before treading through Vâlcea County.   Their first destination to hit on their way back down to Târgoviște is Râmnicu Vâlcea. From there, they’d cross the Olt River and continue traveling southeast. Sypha walks quietly in the woods, her footsteps light and her blue hood down, long auburn locks running over her shoulders. Grant travels besides her and hums a soft tune.   Alucard, with one of Trevor’s arms around his shoulders, goes at a slower pace, knowing the vampire hunter is injured with impaired vision. With bandages wrapped around his head and his chest, the least thing he wants is to be walking. But they’ve already spent too many nights in the wild during their journey. They at least deserve to spend the night at a quiet inn; warm blankets and their tummies filled from a tasty bowl of Goulash. Or at least several mugs of mead in Trevor’s case.   The brunette sighs out loud, not meaning for it to be so loud. He feels the gentle comforting rub of a black gloved hand alongside his waist, leaning his head upon the platinum blonde’s neck. Trevor can feel the blood and wounds drying up, but he knows that they won’t fully heal. Those claw marks will forever be a part of him, and his eye will be lost forever. Just a price he had to pay for keeping up the family tradition, and the whip at his side is a reminder of the price that was first paid over 400 years ago. The man burries himself further into Alucard’s neck, finding ease with the lower temperature of his body as they walk.“Foarte feroce, Belmont”, the dhampir says.Trevor just smiles and chuckles at that.
