"Blake! Are you even listening to me?" Weiss stood in front of Blake, hands on her hips and nose scrunched in irritation.Blake looked up from her book "Hm?" she was clearly unfazed."I can't believe you! You weren't even listening" Weiss pinched the bridge of her nose "Book closed, Belladonna."Blake sighed as she closed the book, it wasn't that the Faunus didn't care enough to listen, but the fact that Weiss had been talking about this party she was hosting for almost five months now. She was happier that the party was finally going to happen rather than actually going to it. After this party maybe she could finally read Ninjas of love in peace."You are going aren't you?" Weiss asked."I don't know, you've explained everything with such detail I feel like I've already been" Blake spoke with a smirk on her face and a cat-eyed glare."Fine, I didn't want you to come anyway" Weiss rolled her eyes, though her smile was obvious.Both girls went on to talk about their latest reads and their mornings until the bell rang for class. Blake picked up her books and stood up from her place underneath a tree in front of the school, it was beginning to look like another day full of sunshine. The two entered the front doors to run into a group of cheerleaders in uniforms and football players in varsity jackets and jerseys. Big yellow and red signs hung from the ceiling that read 'Go Beacon Beowolves!'. The two looked up and giggled."Wow, they're really into it this time aren't they?" Blake looked down at the shorter girl.Weiss scoffed a reply "Yeah, after that loss I'm surprised they'd even have the guts to show they're faces"The girls laughed. "All I know is that they better make a win this time or it'll be the only year we haven't made it to championships". Weiss was one of the many students who went to the last game and also one of many who were disappointed at their team's performance."Tell your boyfriend to try harder," Weiss said."Sun is a friend, not boyfriend" Blake corrected."But you like him though"Blake rolled her eyes "Oh okay Miss 'of course I'll go to the game with you Neptune', why isn't YOUR boyfriend on the team?"Weiss huffed "Whatever. It's not like I could say no after he bought two tickets to the game." They moved to the side of the hallway and Weiss pulled out an invitation. "Are you coming or not Belladonna? Your boyfriend will be there~" she added teasingly before Blake sighed and snatched the invitation"He's not my boyfriend!"Weiss smiled before hugging her "Wear something nice and leave the books at home, and that's a rule" she said before walking to class, Blake doing the same shortly after waving goodbye.Blake sat down in her seat, sighing as she pulled out her book. As students swarmed into the classroom, Mr. Port went off on one of his 'Man up with Port' talks. He went on about Grimm he faced in the woods while camping and how he fought off a bear with his bare hands once on a camping trip. Of course, a class of seventeen years old's didn't believe such a story, at least that's what Blake thought until she saw Cardin and his delinquent buddies swarming around Port. They weren't the only ones either, a few other freshmen boys and nerds all gathering to hear the false tale. Either they were serious or throwing Mr. Port a bone, Cardin and his gang were known bullies Blake wouldn't ever put it past them. They were assholes.After history with Port, biology with Oobleck, and creative writing with Ms. Gothel, Blake ate lunch with her another friend Velvet while she waited for Weiss in the lunchroom. Velvet was often the silent type, sweet, soft-spoken, and quite shy. She was the Faunus Blake would have thought she'd be if it weren't for meeting Weiss. Granted she and Weiss didn't always get along at first but after being forced to work on a project together in Mr. Oobleck's class freshman year, the two became quite a pair. Blake smiled at Velvet, the girl was showing her a ton of photos she took with their other friend Coco. She totally had the hots for her, Blake would think. She'd never have the guts to break that to Velvet though. Not that Velvet was straight, she had already come out as a lesbian sophomore year. The girl just tended to be a little naive when realizing the little things, and if Blake knew anything it was that the feelings between Velvet and Coco were definitely mutual. The way Velvet got all giddy and the way Coco used excuses to touch her when she was around never failed to miss the Cat Faunus' eyes. Then again, what did she know? She was straight.Weiss had walked in with Coco, and Blake mumbled to herself "Speak of the devil". Velvet lit up, her ears perked high above her head as he waved at the two. Weiss set down her bag on the table in front of Blake and sighed."Dude, Cogsworth really gave us a pop quiz on shit we just did yesterday. He's such a bore. Totally passed though" Weiss rolled her eyes as she spoke, unpacking her lunch. She always ate a caesar salad with croutons and carrots. Blake just ate tuna sandwiches."Dang really? I have him next semester, that's going to suck I guess" Blake cupped her cheek as she leaned on the table. Coco stretched and set her brown bag down, she did wear the most cutest outfits, Blake had to admit."How'd it go for you, Coco?" Velvet asked softly, the Aussie smiled as Coco sat next to Weiss."Oh I totally failed, had no clue five questions could make me want to pull my hair out so bad" Coco answered honestly. She was smart, and she knew well enough to know math was just bullshit she'd never know. She was Coco, not a mathematician. Velvet frowned and reassured the girl as she took a bite out of her avocado sandwich. Coco nibbled on a bag of pretzels as the four conversed among themselves. About a minute before the bell rang signaling the end of lunch, Weiss handed the two invitations. "You guys definitely have to come, it's going to be awesome." the heiress said before the four of them said their goodbyes and headed to their classes.Blake was left with her last class of the day, English with Ms. Peach. It was the only class she could read in and not be disturbed by teachers asking questions to see if she was actually paying attention. Not a lot of people liked Ms. Peach, her class wasn't bad the other students just didn't like the homework. Blake had to admit, it was a lot but Ms. Peach's lovely personality made up for it. Blake had watched the time all afternoon, begging for the clock to strike four. When school finally came to an end Blake got a text from Weiss that read 'Meet me at my locker'. Ms. Peach finished assigning the homework and wished everyone a good evening. Several students groaned and whined before hurriedly packing up their things and leaving the room.Like Blake was told she met Weiss at her locker. As the Faunus walked down the hallway to the ice queen she noticed there were more people than just Weiss there. Sun was leaning against the lockers as well, and two other girls across from him. "Hey, Blake!" Sun said as she approached the group. The other two girls smiled at her as they continued their own conversation."How was school?" Weiss asked, sounding awfully mom like."It was School" Blake replied in a monotone voice as she sighed, Weiss chuckled.By now the other two girls had finished their conversation and rejoined the group. Blake looked at the two, one girl was young and while she still looked younger than the others in the group Blake guessed she was a sophomore. She had a brunette pixie cut with red streaks throughout that complimented an oddly bright red hoodie she was wearing with a pair of black high-waist jeans and sneakers. The other girl looked closer to her age. She was blonde and wore light blue mom jeans with a white T-shirt tucked in and an orange flannel on top. Blake glared at them awkwardly, waiting to be introduced."Blake meet Yang and Ruby. Yang and Ruby meet Blake" Weiss said interrupting the silence between them."H-hey," Blake said awkwardly."Hi Blake, I'm Ruby or Ruby R- you can just call me Ruby" the brunette shyly waved as the taller blonde budded in "I'm Yang Ruby's older sister" Blake was caught off guard, eyeing Yang's beautiful lilac eyes. She was definitely an attractive girl.The bell rang for dismissal and the group headed towards the front doors conversating among themselves. Weiss, Sun, and Ruby walked ahead, talking about the party absentmindedly leaving Yang with Blake behind them."So, you like books?" Yang said breaking the silence as she eyed the book in the Faunus' hands.Blake smiled and she spoke "Uh... Yeah""Cool, cool. I used to read. To Ruby anyway but that was when she was a kid though"Blake nodded. "Maybe I could get you back into it, we could always hang in the library after school""I'll have to take you up on that offer then sometime, Kitty cat"Her black velvety ears twitched upon hearing the nickname and she blushed. Yang gave a soft chuckle. The group reached an intersection from the school parking lot, Ruby and Sun waited for Yang, and Weiss waited for Blake. The two caught up and the group paused as Sun glanced at Ruby and Yang."So, you guys going to the big hip highschool party?" he asked. Weiss facepalmed and shook her head."Don't call it that dunce" Weiss facepalmed and shook her head."wh-what?" Sun chuckled as he shrugged.Yang looked directly at Blake and smiled."Yeah, we'll see you there."

Weiss and Blake walked on the sidewalk of their street. The Heiress had her white shoulder bag wrapped around her front, looking over at Blake who held a book to her chest as she counted the lines in the sidewalk. "Ruby and Yang are nice right? They just moved in a few weeks ago. They're from Patch, Yang said they used to live by the beaches" Weiss broke the silence with a small conversation. "Yea, they're great. Did they move in on Suns street?" Blakes cat ears had perked up and she looked over her shoulder to the shorter girl. "Yep, they met Nora and Jaune too. Were all in Chem together" Weiss smiled at her "I gave her your number, by the way, she said you and her had an interesting conversation" "Really?" Blake tilted her head, they had only talked about books, she didn't think a cool girl like her would even be interested in talking about nerd stuff. "Yeah, I'll send you Ruby's too if you want" Weiss stopped at her driveway as she turned to hug Blake. "Are we going to walk to school in the morning? I think I can convince Winter to take us to Coffee-house before she goes to work" Weiss mentioned as they hugged.The Faunus smiled at that, she loved their iced green tea. "Totally, I'll see you in the morning. Have a good night Weiss text me if you need anything alright?" The two separated and Blake kept walking a few more houses down to her own. She couldn't believe that girl had actually asked for her number after their awkward conversation. She shrugged it off as she used her key to open her door. "Mom? Dad? I'm home!" she set down her bag and untying her shoes. She picked them up and walked upstairs to her room. The Faunus threw the backpack in a chair by her desk and set her shoes behind her closet door. "Hey Honey how was school?" asked her mom from downstairs in the kitchen. Blake walked down the steps after tying her long black hair back and changing out of her school clothes. "It was good Mom, Dad not home yet?" She walked to the kitchen to see her mom reading something on her laptop, Kali turned and kissed Blake on her forehead. "Nope, I guess he got a call last minute. Something about an attempted robbery on Ursa street?" Kali sighed, rubbing Blakes back. Kali was a freelance writer and Blakes Dad Ghira was an officer for VPD (Vale Police Department). "He should be home in an hour or so love, any ideas on what we should have for dinner?" "Uhh, Salmon?" she asked, her mom made the best Salmon ever. She walked over to the freezer, pulling a package of Salmon out and setting it in the sink, and submerging it in hot water to thaw.
"Sounds good. It should be thawed out in a bit. I'll call you when I need your help okay?" Kali looked from her laptop and smiled as she watched her daughter walk upstairs. Blake hummed as she walked into her room, turning on her Bluetooth speaker to play some tunes while she worked out what homework she had. She pulled out her binder as she listened to one of her favorite bands, Paramore. The specific song was 'Rose-Colored boy', she loved the pop and 80's vibes it gave. As she sang along, she worked on Ms. Peach's homework, it was some excerpt from an old book that somehow everyone in high school had to read at some point. Halfway through her reading, someone texted her on her phone. It was Yang.------------
Unknown Number: Hey this is Yang, we met today after school? I asked your friend for your number. I hope that's okay and not too creepy.You: Hey! I don't find it creepy at all, I didn't think you were interested in being my friend since I was so awkward... Sorry for that btw Yang: Not a problem at all! Sorry that all I had to talk about was books. What else do you do besides read? You: I like music a lot, and I enjoy taking care of plants. I occasionally do watercolor if that's any more interesting Yang: Wait really? That's awesome. I Skateboard a lot, sometimes even bike. I used to bike with my friend in Patch. Can I see some of your watercolor paintings?

Somehow talking to Yang made Blake giddy. She was so chill, it almost made her sort of nervous to even be talking to her. She sent her an old watercolor painting of one of her plants on her windowsill.

You: -Sent image-You: Skateboarding is cool, Neptune and Sun do that kind of stuff. I used to go to the skatepark with them a lot, but haven't lately. Did you know they're in a band? I think its called Junior Detectives or something like that Yang: Woww that's really good. You should totally start going again, maybe we can all go and you can paint me! Lmao Junior Detectives? That's interesting. I would be interested in a concert.
------------Blake and Yang continued to text back and forth as the Faunus finished her homework. By the time she finished, her mom had called her down to help with dinner and Ghira had come home. Blake put her phone in her pocket and walked downstairs, greeting her father as she washed her hands."Hey, Dad. How was work?" The bulky man still had his uniform on as he gave his daughter a side hug."It was something else kiddo, that jewelry store downtown got robbed by some guy named Roman. Apparently, some officers have been looking for him and his gang for weeks!" He sat down at the kitchen island as he watched his wife and daughter cook. He smiled, doodling on a grocery list that was left on the counter. An hour passed and the family sat at the kitchen table, Ghira had changed out of his uniform and into his pajamas. He wore plaid sweatpants with a grey t-shirt that clung to his built biceps. The family had the usual dinner conversation, Ghira complementing the women of the house for the wonderful meal. The household settled down around nine, Ghira and Kali kissing their daughter goodnight before going in their bedroom to cuddle and watch their favorite show together. Blake did her usual bedtime routine and plopped down into her own bed, looking at her phone to see another text from Yang.------------
Yang: Do you have a boyfriend?

The question had caught Blake off guard. She couldn't figure out what about it that made her insides feel weird.

You: No haha... Why do you ask?Yang: No reason, I thought you and Sun were dating. He talked about you a lot on our way home.
------------
The girl was a bit relieved. She knew Sun had a thing for her, she sort of did too. Still, she couldn't help but wonder.

You: Oh, yeah I think he likes me lol Do you have a boyfriend? Yang: Haha, No. Im single, sadly. You: Really? I would imagine an attractive girl like you would have men (or women) begging at her feet Yang: Lmao nope, not me. I'm Pansexual. You?

Blake bit her lip, why was this girl even telling her all this? She didn't mind, it just wasn't something most people who just met talked about. It took Blake a minute to reply, she didn't know what to say. Her obvious reply was to say she was straight but part of her almost hesitated for a moment.

You: I'm straight. That's cool, Nora's pansexual too! I don't know if you've met her or not. Shes dating Ren though.Yang: Oh... Yang: Cool. I met her

Did she seem disappointed? Blake thought to herself, she bit rubbed her cheek as Yang typed more

Yang: Well I'm going to go watch some Netflix before bed, See you tomorrow at school?You: Of course! Have a good night Yang :) Yang: Night!

Blake set her phone down to charge on her nightstand as she stared at the ceiling. Why did she feel so weird now?
