“Are you sure I can’t change your mind? There’s more than enough room for someone to be by my side throughout life.”   The blonde gave a saddened chuckle, shaking his head as he accepted Trevor’s hand, stepping down into the coffin cushioned with a silky red fabric.“No, Trevor. You know what I’m capable of. You know that I have cursed blood, and doing this is for the best.”“Well... Alright,” replied the brunette.   He wished that he wouldn’t be doing this. Just being in the room again was breaking his heart, knowing what was going to happen. Going back to his slumber, forever... Trevor understood the reasoning for his actions, and told himself he wouldn’t stop the dhampir, no matter what his heart was telling him. This was about Adrian and his wishes. Trevor shouldn’t be so selfish to want him to live a life with him, knowing agony and sadness were all he felt from after their battle.   Despite killing Vlad Țepeș, he was still Adrian’s father. He was still the one who cradled him, helped fix toys for him, and loved him. Perhaps it’d been too long, and Trevor had forgotten what it was like to be in the arms of his family; to sit in front of the fire as Sonia hummed a local folk tune while she brushed his hair. He was just a child when he lost them, where Adrian was a grown adult losing both parents. It was more than understandable to know what he was going through, and Trevor rejected his heart’s request to ask him to stay.   Gloved hands picked up the coffin lid as he grunted, carefully placing it over his love. Before sealing it over his head, Trevor leaned over and stuck his head into the opening, pressing their lips together for one last kiss. He places a hand over the side of his face, running his thumb against the blonde’s cheekbone as he felt him kiss back. A couple moments passed and Trevor broke apart from him, looking into those gorgeous golden pupils one last time. He watched as Adrian smiled softly at him.“I promise we’ll see each other again, Belmont. Please look after Sypha and Grant.”“I will... Goodbye, Adrian. I love you.”“I love you too, Trevor. Take care.”   The hunter watched as the light faded away from inside the coffin as he sealed the lid, listening to the gentle ‘thump’ it made. With that finished, Trevor began to make his way out of the vault, basking in the setting sunlight that shone through the stained glass window above. The man ran his fingers over the key in his hand, closing the doors behind him. He took the key and locked the room, slipping it back underneath the doors so it rest inside.   And then there was nothing but silence.   Silence, and loneliness.   Trevor’s chest felt heavy, and he leaned his back against the doors. Sliding downwards, he made his way so that he could sit on the marble floor, slumping over ever so lightly. With his legs spread out and trenchcoat cushioned underneath him, Trevor’s eye grew wet.   Drip.   Drip. Drip.   Drip drip drip came the tears from his working eye. Though one had been blinded, he still brought his hands up to cover his face, sobbing softly. He scrunched his fingers, digging them into his chestnut locks, feeling the fabric of his gloves dampen. Tears that escaped dripped down his chin onto the white floor beneath him. His cries echoed through the hallway as he sat there alone, listening to nothing but the sounds of a broken heart, a love that had failed him. Who was he to think such a thing would work? An immortal and a mortal... A vampire, and a vampire hunter.Tragic.Irreconcilable...
