"Are you okay?"Minato was taken out of his own hurricane of thoughts, when a breeze had danced in the center of the room bringing to his ears the demanding voice of Onogi.Certainly, Minato had arrived to school very early again to work on his target panic without the worry to disturb his teammates while training, but had stumbled to the floor very clumsily while preparing everything and his ankle hadn't stopped hurting since then. It was humiliating in a way, but it had helped him to sit a second and think about whether he was doing things the right way or not.Onogi didn't have to know that, though. Much less the day after his team wore the shirts with the engraving of "servant" because of Minato and all his failures."Y-Yes.""Not so convincing." Onogi insisted and walked with his backpack in his hands to sit in front of Minato on the floor. Minato tried to dodge his gaze, but Onogi's eyes were really intense and for some reason his curiosity too. "Why were you touching your ankle?"Minato's shoulders tensed, but at the same time he try to smile as if nothing happened."I wasn't touching my ankle." Minato said looking to the side, in time to discover that in fact, while thinking about his progress with the target panic, he had been massaging his poor ankle so the pain would not get worse.Onogi raised an eyebrow and rested his elbow on his thigh and his cheek on the palm of his hand, looking at him questioningly."I wasn't!" Minato said again."I don't believe you." Onogi sighed, as if discovering that Minato was lying to him was the most annoying thing in the world. "When I arrived, you never noticed that you weren't alone anymore and you were touching your ankle and grimacing. You're definitely not fine.""I'm fine. Seriously." Minato looked back at him. Onogi's eyebrow was still raised but his hands had moved to the closure of his backpack, his eyes never leaving Minato's. "Ugh. Why don't you believe me?""'Cause you're a worse liar than Nanao, duh." Onogi said as if it were a fact and moved his eyes to his lap. "Even though it doesn't look like it, Nanao is very clumsy and sometimes he doesn't even notice certain things, such as injuries to his own body." Minato observed with curiosity how Onogi was stirring something in his backpack until he smiled slyly, finally taking out his hands which held a small first aid kit. "I've lived for many years babysitting that little shit to the point of being good at discovering things like these. Now, give me your foot.""It's not necessary, really!" Minato insisted feeling his cheeks heat up and raising his hands to deny more intensely. "You don't have to worry!""Huh?!" Onogi growled. He then extended his hand to Minato's knee, who was sitting cross-legged, and used too much force to get Minato's leg free, the leg that had the affected ankle.Minato definitely felt his cheeks burn as hell when Onogi put his foot on his own lap and forcefully kept him in place and then remove his sock to see the condition of his ankle. Onogi's fingers on the skin of his calf before lowering the sock caused Minato to hold his breath and close his eyes. He couldn't believe that Onogi was doing that for him.It was unreal."I'm not worried about you, you idiot." Onogi said and Minato opened one of his eyes to look at him. "If you get injured, it's a problem for everyone on the team. Also, Masa-san wouldn't want his students to get hurt and not saying anything."Minato finally opened his other eye and observed him with a new perspective as Onogi for his part observed his ankle which was a little red, standing out quite in his so white skin. Onogi's fingers delicately squeezed the affected area and Minato couldn't help but let out a moan of pain at the touch. It was a bit pathetic, but Onogi seemed to disregard his whining as he opened his first aid kit and pulled out some bandages and what appeared to be an ointment for inflammation."Is this because of Masa-san, then?" Minato dared to ask.Onogi didn't respond at first. The boy in front of him seemed to know what he was doing, so Minato didn't question him when he gently touched his ankle again before putting the ointment on the red skin. Onogi's hand was a few good seconds on his ankle and his fingers very seasonedly spread the ointment where the skin was most affected without wasting a gram where it wasn't. After a few minutes the skin no longer burned as much as his cheeks did, but he could say that was a triumph."Hey, you're good at this." Minato sighed pleasantly when Onogi's fingers parted leaving the fresh cream to rest on his skin. "Who would have thought? You know how to help when someone needs it. "The growl that Onogi then released was a good sign that Minato shouldn't have said that, but he really didn't regret dropping what he thought at the time.It was still hard for him to understand how Onogi's head worked, but this was a big step and he needed the other boy to say at least something more than just let out a grunt."First of all, this isn't because of Masa-san. If this were about Masa-san, I wouldn't even be helping you in the first place." Onogi said in a calm voice, but with a trace of irritation. Minato unconsciously pouted. He hadn't intended to offend Onogi. "Second, how selfish do you think I am so as not to help a teammate who is whining like an abandoned dog because his ankle hurts? I don't like you but that doesn't mean I hate you or that I will ignore you if you need help. Idiot."Onogi's hands returned to his foot, and this time with the bandage. Minato had lowered his head a little while Onogi was talking, and at that moment he was looking at him through his eyelashes, both of his hands and arms surrounding his leg that wasn't prey of Onogi, and resting his head to the his side there over his knee. He had decided that he preferred not to fight with Onogi, not when he was having a gesture like that."Sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said. Sorry if I offended you.""Hah!" Onogi gave a humorless laugh. "Someone as useless as you could never offend me.""Anyway," Minato smiled a little despite himself. "I want you to accept my apology."Onogi held his foot very carefully before putting the bandage fabric over the wound and making it surround his heel. Minato blinked many times to fight against the current of electricity that insisted on bristling the hairs on his neck and arms. In a way, Onogi's fingers tickled and generated calm at the same time."You know. How do you get along with Masa-san? I don't give a fuck. Having him as the coach is enough for me and I won't let you ruin that experience."Minato smiled wider and looked in the direction of the outside lawn while Onogi still bandaged his ankle. A breeze ran making his hair fly a little on his forehead, but the change in temperature was pleasant, even more so for his cheeks which still insisted on blushing."Masa-san is awesome, don't you think?""Hell yeah he is. He's a legend." Onogi's face changed drastically, and his voice sounded even with emotion and happiness. "His posture is elegant. His reflexes are those of an eagle. His precision is that of a professional. He's so fucking cool.""His tsurune is inspiring." Minato said. The smile that adorned Onogi's lips was too tempting not to follow the conversation. "I mean, when I was younger I heard a tsurune that made me fall in love with archery. I wanted, you know, that my own tsurune was similar to that. Of course my target panic worsened many things and I lost that inspiration until I saw Masa-san for the first time. His tsurune is magical and is my new inspiration."Onogi finished bandaging his ankle with a not-so-tight knot. His smile was still present although it was not as big as when he spoke of Masa-san, but it was still a good sign."Oh! I'm sorry, I think that was a very personal thing to say..." Minato said when he realized."No, it's okay." Onogi sighed and to Minato's surprise, he didn't release his ankle after bandaging it and instead placed it back on his lap to massage it lightly. "Rarely, it's not irritating to hear you speak when it comes to the greatness of Masa-san. He is also my inspiration and I guess it's good to talk to someone who understands me in that way."Minato said nothing for a few minutes and simply enjoyed the gesture that Onogi was having to massage his ankle, which for a change felt like heaven."Where did you learn to bandage so well?" Onogi looked at him raising an eyebrow at Minato's relaxed face, but to his luck this time he didn't growl."I learned first aid when I was in elementary school. As I told you before, Nanao is very clumsy and often gets hurt a lot. Which means that I would recognize when a wound is serious and for your luck this wound isn't, you just hit your ankle pretty bad and that's why it got like this, but with the help of the ointment and having it under the pressure of the bandages will heal quickly. Also, for any emergency it is always good to be prepared. You never know when you might need it. As now, for example.""Mmm, I see." Minato smiled a little and let out a sigh when Onogi's hands massaged a little hard over a certain part where it still hurt a little. "This side of you willing to help is nice. I like it.""Tsk. Shut up. I still don't like you."Minato still hadn't finished deciphering Onogi and what was going on inside his head, but positively he felt that seeing Onogi's own cheeks get red after Minato had given him an innocent compliment, was a good part to start deciphering.
