----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
He’s always had a funny relationship with the cold.
He liked it as a kid. Whenever it was winter, Judith would take him sledding on the top of the hill, and he would go so fast, the snow blowing in his little face and his cheeks red, he’d forget the whispers in the back of his mind.
After that Halloween, his winters were very different.
The rooms at Smith’s Grove almost never received any heat, and the sheets could barely warm a grown adult, let alone a young boy.
The worst part was his window, because every time he looked out at the snow, all he could think about was that he just wanted to go back. When it was only him, and not the thoughts that were going to consume him.
Years later, and he’s out. And whenever it snows, he hates it.
He can almost never find a place to sleep that protects him from the cold.
He will say this, the snow still helps him.
So many people have trouble telling the difference whether an icicle either fell on someone or was forced into them.
And heavy snowfall has always helped him cover his tracks.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jason’s always bringing you little trinkets, sometimes it’s an interesting animal skull, other times it’s a piece of jewelry, one time he even gave you a little kitten.
You’re pretty sure it’s a boy kitten, but he doesn’t care, he’s naming it Pamela.
You’re always introducing him to new snacks, he kind of stopped eating them during his survivalist days, and when he became a undead killing machine, he sort of forgot he needed to eat.
If it has peanut butter in it, he’ll eat it, he just hates the REALLY sugar filled stuff, they hurt his teeth. It makes you guilty giggle the big bad slasher can’t handle sweet stuff.
You’re always worried about him, even when you know you don’t need to be. It’s surprisingly easy to forget he’s unkillable.
A lucky teen had managed to chop his arm with a hatchet once, which would later find a home in that boy’s skull.
You were freaking out and going all wild and started crying, wondering if he was going to be okay, and blaming yourself for not being there.
By the time you had calmed yourself down, his arm was already growing back.
He just gave you a look that said that he thought you were adorable.
He still brings it up just to rile you.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
FUCK TEXAS! FUCK TEXAS! FUCK TEXAS
You weren’t even sure why you were in the goddamned state, let alone why you went into that hell of a gas station.
And here you were now, trapped inside the basement of that demented gas station owner. Why did he look so familiar?
You can see the bodies hanging around you, and as the rev of a chainsaw comes to your attention, a man appears.
He was large, bloody, wearing skin, and holy fuck, is that Bubba Sawyer.
Bubba had certainly... changed since you last saw him.
You didn’t want to believe it, that the sweet little boy you knew as a child was now this brute.
But you were in his old house, and as you stared into the eyes of the of the blood stained man in front of you, past his second layer of skin covering his face, you knew it had to be him.
You could remember how you guys met, being assigned his for biology.
It was sickening for you and other kids, but with him, it was almost natural.
You always thought that he knew it would make you uncomfortable and he decided to brave up and do it himself.
After that, you guys sort of started hanging out, and you learned how much a sweetheart he was.
You always knew there was something weird about his family, how his older brothers would look at you in a strange way, and how he’d always be in a rush to leave his house to go to yours.
Not that your parents liked it, but that always wanted to make you hang out with him even more.
Bubba was funny, and he could always find a way to make you laugh, even when the other kids were being dicks to you guys. At him for being himself, and you for wanting to be around him.
You were so sad when your parents had to move, but Bubba was even more upset, while you were tearing up, he was straight up sobbing.
It took a while, but eventually you had managed to move on, and you always figured he’d be able to move on too.
Childhood friendships don’t last forever, right?
That was then and this is now, though. Because Bubba’s right in front of you.
You can see what happened to him when you left.
And all you can do is pray for a miracle.
