"I congratulated you earlier Lieutenant but I think it bares repeating. You have accomplished something remarkable today. Tavus. and his followers knew every spec of are organisation. They could have torn the republic military apart peace by peace but they never got the chance because of you." General Garza announces"I couldn't have done it with out Sgt Dorne's help." Replied B'Elanna Dourne CO of Havoc Squad"Thankyou very much Lieutenant, It's a honour to serve in Havoc Squad." Elara her compliment in her normal stoic voice."We will be staying to search the ship for intelligence well the hyperdrive is reactivated, but there is no reason for you remain as well. I say you have earnt some leave, take some time off then return to my office on Coruscant when your ready to discusses a new assignment for Havoc Squad.""Thankyou General" B'Elanna replies well feeling relived that she and her team will finally get some R&R."Now go out and enjoy yourself Lieutenant and congratulations again for completing one of the most difficult assignments in spec forces history"."Let's go and relax Sargent. ""I couldn't agree more sir"?"Oh before you go Lieutenant..... If you don't mind delaying your trip a short time can I have a word with Sgt Dorne."Captain Dorne salutes, turns around and walks back to her ship wondering what the General wants with Elara. She did seem eager to recruit her on Taris but she didn't blame her she is a very good officer.------------------------------Sgt Dorne stood to attention waiting for General Garza to say her bit. She was a little on guard as the was unusual behaviour for superior officer this many ranks above her, to take a mere sergeant aside without going through there direct superior. This mission and previous missions with her involved went well. She knew she hadn't broken any rules so it couldn't be that. The only thing that it could be was that she was being cautious about the new head of Havoc Squad. "Thankyou for waiting Sargent I know the team will be eager to have a break away from it, for a while but I would be appreciated if you would join me personally on Coruscant before you return to duty.""Of course sir. I presume Litenaunt Dourne will be informed.""No this is a personal request. I would like to meet up for dinner on Coruscant and discusses.... your research.""I would be honoured Sir""Despite this being the most fancy restaurant in the republic you don't have to be so formal and I'm hoping you are as impressive in person as in your records."."This is something I'm not used to considering. I really shouldn't occupy anymore of your time Thankyou sir."Then from a nearby console came a voice."General""Yes Colonel""I have some files you may want to see""Thankyou Colonel I will be right over""Sgt Dorne I will send you the information you may need. Dismissed!"Elara Dorne salutes, turns around and headed for the ship.--------------------------------------------------------------------------Elara got back to the ship and after doing all the pre checks on the ship and proceeded to check with her superior if it was alright to go to Coruscant with Lt. Dourne who had decided to take the controls for a bit."Lieutenant if you don't mind can a take some time for myself.""Of course Elara .""Thankyou sir""Are you ok Elara. Is there anything I can do for you?""You've done to much for me already and made me more welcome than anyone has since I have come to the Republic. They distrust me as soon as I speak they only hear my accent. When I'm not a potential spy I'm a resource, endless questions about Imperial culture, personal, Imperial procedures *sigh*, It's exhausting..""Your good solider Dorne don't worry what other people think and I'm not just your superior officer, your my friend.""Thankyou sir but that isn't the only thing on my mind. There is one other person that has made me welcome which may be problem. General Garza invited me out for a meal. But 'Personal Code Section 2 discourages romantic relations between personnel especially commanding officers.""General Garza invited you on a date?" B'Elanna Dourne scoffed. "Yes sir. I am flattered but tingling at the thought that she thinks of me in that way but as I said personal co...""Code of section 2, I know but If you where not in Spec Force or the military would you say yes.""Defiantly sir, she,... has such a commanding speaking voice, it's gorgeous."B'Elanna Dourne smiles."And you said 'Discourages" if I'm not mistaken."Elara Dorne smiles."Thankyou Sir".----------------------------------------------------B'Elanna Dourne was up, even on a holiday she found it difficult to have a lie in. Captain Dourne started leaving her room she paused for a second realising what was strange this morning. There was whistling coming from one of the rooms on the Starboard side. She headed in that direction realising it was Sgt Dorne. She knocked on the door and was beckoned in. Sgt Dorne was still getting dressed when she welcomed the Lieutenant."Morning Lieutenant""Morning Sergeant your very chipper this morning""Yes sir.""Yes sir! is that all you got to say. Did you have a good night.""I had a amazing night sir.""Come on Dorne, Aren't you going to fill me in on your evening with the General.""Is that a order sir!" "It is Sergeant. I'm sure there is some sort of regulation that you have to keep me informed of any relationship that could compromise are missions"."Your right Sir but I think your just being mean to me just to find out the juicy details.""Me Sergeant, perish the thought. Let's go and have breakfast and you can tell me about those juicy details."-----------------------......"Sounds like a great night"."It was but the best wasn't even the meal, or the conversation, or having the rose waiting for me at the table or the gorgeous stair she had when I was talking about my science paper. It was that she is so sweet when she is off duty and she still has that gorgeous but commanding voice, I love it. That voice kept drawing me in until I eventually put my hand on her leg and slowly went and I kissed her. It was so long it and soft was amazing. I never considered something like this would happen to me since a defected to the Republic.""Your a wonderful women Elara you deserve it.""Thankyou sir""I hope your meeting up again." "We are. There is a Mel Calamari restaurant that serves the most wonderful food. She has also offered me a private sweat on the planet if I wanted more privacy.""You mean that you don't have to talk your superior officer about your love life.""That's not true sir you have been the only person other than General Garza who has not looked at me with suspicion. You have helped make my life better.""Don't worry It was meant as a joke. Your friendship is important to me and I'm glad you are having a good time here in the Republic despite those people"."I wouldn't swap it for anything sir."B'Elanna Dourne hugged Elara before carrying on the conversation. If you don't mind I need to head back to Taris, Governor Saresh wanted I word with me."That's alright, if you need any more advice on the planet please call me.""I will Sargent, but I got the impression I wouldn't be seeing much of the planet.""You will have to tell me about it when you get back.""I'm sure we can compare notes when we get back."*beep beep*"It's the holo Sargent its from the General's office. Her private line, I believe it's for you."Elara's eyes light up and she heads to the holo.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
B'Elanna arrived on Taris it's spaceport was lovely and reminded her of the Alderaan and Tattoine spaceports but that was where simulates ended. Taris was full of ruins, chemicals, vegetation and wild animals of all kinds, everywhere the eye could see. Then there were the Rakhools who were basically a mutant animal. Then her mind came to why she was here as she walked past the holo of Governor Saresh, on her left hand side, the blueness of the holo didn't do her any favours. She was a stern women who didn't take any shit, a bit like General Garza but Saresh was more of a maliputator than Garza who was more of a 'do it my way or else' and did what ever she thought was right what ever the conciqenceses. This did make her, she thought for a second, .......... frustrating at times but in the end she knew she was doing what they thought was best for the republic even if that meant rubbing a few noses in the mud. But personally she found the Governor's stern attitude nice and she liked her firm and strong personality, maybe that's why she joined the military. .....She Wondered why Saresh wanted to see her. Probably like last time she wanted some help with the rackhools or the maybe even the Empire who had recently started causing trouble on the planet. What ever happens she was glad to see Governor Saresh in person even if it was for a few minutes.B'Elanna started walking towards the exit to the spaceport when she recognised one of the Governors staff from her previous visit. He noticed her as well and waved her down."Fantastic your back, Governor Saresh wants to see you again""I would be honoured to see her again." B'Elanna says."I'm sure she will appreciate that and I will just get her on the line."Saresh popped up on the holo communicator in the normal blue form everybody appears."How wonderful to see you again. I'm sure your noticing the changes your efforts have brought. Rakhol attacks are down 80% in the resettlement zone and the few we encounter are repealed easier. Construction workers are back to work with a bit of arm twisting and are developing more ambitious projects. We believe in what we are doing again thanks to you.""Now that we're making progress will the Republic send more resources?" B’Elanna said encouragingly.“I'm doing my best to see that they do but despite are success we still have some serious challenges. The Racghools we displace now threaten the forward bases.""If you like me and my droid M1-4X who is aboard my ship can see what we can do.""That would be appreciated.""Your welcome Governor.""I have to confess there is another reason I invited you here.""Ohhh!” She said with curiosity before realising her place. “Of course Governor I would help the Republic in what ever way it needs."Governor Saresh looks at her assistant who was standing in front of them. He takes the hint very quickly and passes you the holo and walks away."This is more personal. You done such a great job last time and I liked the way you work. Don't take this the wrong way but you have a better attitude and personality than most of your military colleagues."B'Elanna smiled.Saresh continued "I would appreciate it if you joined me for a meal when you finished. I'm sure it will be tiring work.""I'm sure it will be Governor and I would be honoured.""The honor will be all mine on this occasion.” B’Elanna headed for the exit to the spacedock trying to stay professional on the outside as she felt like a million credits as Saresh just asked her on a date. Then she suddenly started worrying that she had got the wrong end of the stick and maybe Saresh wasn’t asking her on a date and the personal matter was something different! Like a personal bodyguard or a position in a different post.B'elanna spends the next day and a half helping the forwards basis but couldn't help but replay their last conversation in his mind. There had been something in Saresh's eyes, a hint of warmth that seemed to break through her usual demeanour. Was her invitation for a meal simply a gesture of gratitude for his unwavering loyalty, or was there a deeper, more personal intention behind it? Her heart quickened at the thought. The possibility that the powerful and stern governor could harbour feelings for her was as exhilarating as it was daunting. As the hours ticked by, she knew she would soon have his answer, but for now, he remained caught in the web of uncertainty and anticipation. As a very tiring day and a half trying came to a end she made her way back to the resettlement zone where the spaceport and Saresh’s office was. She dismisses M1-4X who heads back to the ship with euthastic energy known we had done a job well done.He makes his way toward the Governors Office and the other she was nervous. Not because she was talking to a Governor but because she feels likes this will be the most important decision in her life.>
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
As Governor Saresh walked through the ruin-laden streets of Taris, her mind was buzzing with the political intricacies and endless bureaucratic hurdles she had to navigate. Yet, a tiny, unbidden smile graced her lips as she neared her office. Tonight, she had planned something a bit different, something that had nothing to do with war or reconstruction, but with strategy of another sort.
Upon entering her office, she found that everything was exactly as she had arranged. A lavish spread of Corellian wines, Alderaanian delicacies, and beautifully arranged fruits was set on a finely dressed table. Soft lights cast a warm, inviting glow across the room, making the atmosphere impossibly intimate.
Moments later, the door swung open, and in stepped the formidable figure of the Havoc Squad leader, still in their combat gear. Their eyes widened ever so slightly at the unexpected scene before them.
"Governor Saresh, this...this is quite a surprise," they said, their voice a mixture of curiosity and confusion.
Saresh offered a faint smile, gesturing towards the table. "I thought after the successful mission, we could both use a bit of a break. Please, sit."
Reluctantly, the commander settled into a chair, a thousand questions running through their mind. Saresh poured them a glass of wine, her eyes observing them closely.
"To victory and beyond," she toasted.
"To victory," the commander echoed, though their thoughts were clearly elsewhere. There was an undeniable pull in the room, an electric tension that neither could ignore. For Saresh, this was as much about consolidating her power as it was about anything else. She needed strong allies, and what better ally than the head of Havoc Squad?
But for the commander, the situation was rapidly evolving into something more personal. As the night wore on, stories were shared, laughter was exchanged, and walls were slowly coming down. Saresh's calculated charm was met with earnest admiration and an unexpected warmth.
The commander took a sip of their wine and leaned forward. "Governor, I must say, I never expected such a warm and... personal evening. You certainly know how to surprise someone."
Saresh's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Well, it wouldn't be much fun if I were entirely predictable, now would it? Besides, you've shown incredible bravery and leadership. You deserve a moment to unwind."
"You flatter me, Governor," the commander replied, a genuine smile creeping across their face. "But I'm curious, tell me more about you. What's it like being the governor of a place like Taris? How do you manage it all?"
Saresh sighed softly, her gaze drifting momentarily. "It's a challenging role, to say the least. Rebuilding Taris is no small feat, and there are days when it feels like an impossible task. But I believe in this planet's potential and in the people who call it home. It’s a constant balancing act between politics, infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of our citizens."
The commander nodded thoughtfully. "I can't imagine the weight of that responsibility. It takes someone truly remarkable to handle it all."
Saresh blushed slightly, a rare and unexpected reaction. "Thank you. It’s not often I hear such kind words. But enough about me. Tell me, what keeps you going through all the battles and challenges you face?"
The commander paused, considering their answer. "For me, it's the people I fight alongside. The camaraderie, the trust, and the shared sense of purpose. And, of course, the hope that our efforts will make the galaxy a better place. Moments like this... they remind me why we do what we do."
Saresh reached across the table, her hand gently touching the commander's. "I can see why your squad follows you so loyally. Your dedication is truly inspiring."
The commander felt a warmth spread through them at her touch, their heart racing slightly. "And I can see why Taris has come so far under your leadership. You have a way of bringing out the best in people."
In that moment, the lines between political maneuvering and genuine connection blurred, leaving both Saresh and the commander with a sense of longing and possibility that neither had anticipated. In the heart of a crumbling city, an unexpected harmony was born, one that held the promise of something far greater than either of them had ever imagined.
