Caring for yourself in college is hard.Caring for yourself and another friend is harder. And as Seokjin rushed to his last lecture of the year, he's certain that it's harder to care for himself and a friend, especially if that friend is a turned vampire. Jin shuddered as he waited for his professor to arrive. Try as he might, there was no way for him to completely discard the memory from his mind.
"Jin!"
Hearing his name called, he turned around, about to reprimand his dorm mate for his rudeness. Whatever he was about to say quickly died on his lips as he took in the scene in front of him.
Yoongi, pale as ash and eyes wide and dark as eclipses. Jin felt his feet propelling him forward at the sight of blood on his shirt. Looking up when he can't find the source, Jin looked up and saw Yoongi utter two words.
"It's Namjoon."
He hadn't heard anything else Yoongi said. Leaving Yoongi behind, Jin ran into the common room, blessedly empty, save for one sprawling mass on the ground. Jin stared at Namjoon, his arms clutching his stomach in agony. "Namjoon, what happened? Where are you hurt?"
The moment Jin reached out to check the younger, he snapped back in shock as Namjoon let out a loud snarl. Bright red quickly overtook the soft brown Jin associated with him, and Jin took a step back, locking onto the sharp, white incisors bared at him. Namjoon looked way stronger and much less sickly as he sat up to stare at the elder, a hungry look in his eye.
Jin took a step, then two, then three steps back as Namjoon pulled himself to stand, swaying on his feet before he strode over, pinning the human to the wall. Jin closed his eyes, feeling the newly turned vampire against his neck.
Several things happened at once.
Just as Jin yelped from a sharp nip on his neck, he was pushed back into the wall, the imposing pressure gone as Namjoon backed into the corner, shaking in apprehension as he tried to blend into the beige walls of the common room. His eyes held a devastating combination of thirst and dread as he slowly slid down, curling from a ball, quiet sobs escaping him.
And yet, even as every sense told Jin to run, all he could do was rush over, holding the trembling vampire in his arms.
That was a solid six months ago, and yet, he could remember it like it was yesterday. Jin made an attempt to return to the lecture he had belatedly realized he was missing and took hastily scribbled notes. He and Yoongi had thankfully managed to run into the Vampire RA that patrolled for the night courses and get Namjoon some much needed blood. But something had changed in the younger. While he was still respectful and polite to those who came across him, he became more reserved, facing periods of reflecting inwards that very few could pull him out of.But yet, Jin happened to be one of the very few people that could huddle next to the hulking vampire and shift his mood long enough to get him to finish his homework or even get him to eat. He had a soft spot in his soul for the younger, alright? He's felt something's off whenever they managed to meet alone.Every time he thought of Namjoon, he couldn't help but feel an urge for...something every time Namjoon gazed at him. Especially when he smiled, bashfully pulling his lips back to reveal his pointed tips.Jin swallowed, his throat going dry at the thought. He'd been bitten a few times after his initial bloodlust, but with how careful he had been in using the elder for a bloodbag, he had managed to make Jin impartial to being bit. It had even felt good, now that he thought about it-"Mr. Kim, I'm sure mitosis is an interesting topic, so maybe you would like to answer this question?" His teacher's voice cut through his thoughts and Jin flushed, turning his attention back to the board. ."Yoongi? You leave yet?" Nothing. Welp, it was to be expected. It was highly likely Yoongi had already left for to stay to start the New Year with his special 'friend' right.Sighing, Jin chucked his bookbag to the side as he flopped onto his bed. It was too early New Years to be by himself. -11:25pm-
Ping!
Jin yelped as his phone vibrated in his back pocket, pulling the offending thing from his person. Maybe he wouldn't have to find trouble to get into, maybe the Minuteman texting him had a new settlement for him to save. _________________-Joonie <3Hey HyungCan I stay over tonight, I think Jimin's about to sexile me for the New Year ( '~')Please I'll do anything, just don't let me suffer_________________ Jin laughed, wheezing his way through the text as he imagined Namjoon flushed red, trying to sleep with his wall repeatedly being abused with obscene banging._________________

At peace, the two sat on Jin's bed, leaning on each other as they watched the celebrations from around the world. For a while, it was quiet, but Jin could feel Namjoon tense against him. Jin shifted, looking back to find Namjoon's eyes searching through his, appearing more burgundy than brown now."What's up Joon?" Jin placed his hand on Namjoon's forehead, feeling the vampire lean into it. "You're not hungry, are you? I'm sure I have some blood somewhere..."Without warning, Namjoon scoops Jin into his lap, wrapping his arms over his shoulders. His grip tightens, before dipping his head right into the crook of Jin's neck. For a few beats, all is silent. Tentatively, Jin worms his arm out of Namjoon's embrace to run his hand through the younger's ginger hair.A low rumble wells up in Namjoon's chest before he relaxes and Jin also lets out a sigh of relief, knowing he wasn't in any real danger. "C'mon Namjoon-ah, what's up? Talk to me."Namjoon stays quiet but Jin continues to card through his hair, knowing that he was just getting his thoughts together. Then, "...bond..." Jin shifts his head to look at the younger, who's desperately trying to hide his face further in Jin's neck. "Namjoon. You know I can't help you when you get all shy and quiet like this. Can you speak up for me?" The vampire makes a noncomitted noise in the back of his throat before slowly raising his head to stare back at Seokjin. It only lasts a second, but Jin understands before he buries his head back into Jin's neck.Namjoon's eyes had flickered back and forth between his natures, one eye red, the other a solid gold. Jin can feel the younger shaking, as if the elder was going to ridicule him. "Joon, do you want to bond? Is that what you wanted?" Immediately, he feels the shudder run through the vampire before feeling a small nod from his shoulder. Jin could almost coo.-11:57-"Do you think you could hold back on biting until the New Year? It's only a few more minutes." Jin asks softly, holding onto Namjoon's hand and squeezing as the vampire begins running his nose along the expanse of his neck. Namjoon lets out something akin to a groan and Jin can't help but chuckle. "Jin?" Namjoon's voice began to rise, and Jin hummed in response. "About us b-bonding, we don't have to do it now, just as a promise of someday." The vampire looked up, eyes cooling back to a relaxed burgundy. "Is that-okay with you?" Jin made sure to give him one of his warmest smiles."Of course, take your time. You'll be know you're ready when the time comes."-2018, 11:59:05-"This is it, Namjoon-ah, the end of a year. Did you enjoy it?" Namjoon looked up, searching through Jin's dark brown eyes. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." He murmured, and Jin couldn't help to laugh a bit. Leave it to Namjoon to start quoting Charles Dickens."2018 definitely had it's depressive episodes, but if we only look at the despair, then there's no point in continuing life. Sure it was hard, but stopping to look at the flowers along the way was nice too." Namjoon's voice was getting louder, and Jin smiled, watching him fall a little further into his psyche. -2018, 11:59:26 "We can only learn to really grow when we step back and look at what we've done, what we've achieved, and what we have yet to overcome. It seems so...terrifying, but it's what we have to do. Every step, every thought, every action counts. It's so hard to keep at your best, but when we're old enough to really look back, to wonder what will come next, whether it's a new journey or oblivion, we should all be able to look back and be happy with what we've done."-2018, 11:59:48-Namjoon gave a small smile, his dimple making a small appearance as he shifted Jin out of his lap, much to his confusion. Confusion that quickly turned to understanding when Namjoon turned to face him, crossed legged. He held out his pinky finger and Jin swore he caught a soft pink rise from Namjoon's face."Uh, it's something Jimin had did with me earlier before he left, since I wouldn't see him until next year." He explained, chuckling before gaining his composure. "Jimin said I should make a pinky promise with everyone I care about. So promise me, when you feel as if you're alone several times a day, don't abandon the idea of you and what you care about. Promise me that you'll stop here for a moment, and learn to love yourself."-2019-Jin and Namjoon turned their attention to the tv in front of them as the countdown clock reached the beginning of 2019, putting 2018 to remain with the rest of its years. Reaching out, Jin locked pinkies with Namjoon, grinning as the fireworks went off on tv, whatever students still left on campus cheering. "I promise. Happy New Year Namjoonie." Namjoon smiled back, this time a wide, genuine smile."Happy New Year Jinnie."
