No, nothing good starts in a getaway car.
So, you’re probably wondering how Yoongi ended up in this situation. He’s kind of still processing it too, because when you’re about to repay that guy who helped you pass your math finals without failing, the first thing that pops in your mind is not assisting him in a robbing.
But there Yoongi was, wearing a mask over his mouth and crouching behind a dumpster in an alley that smelt like onions and urine. Yeah, disgusting. “Are you sure about this?” He asked quietly, probably for the twenty-seventh time now. In the past thirty minutes.
Sengho turned back to look at him and rolled his eyes. “Yes, Yoongi. Jimin told me this will be a piece of cake. Besides, you owe me, don’t be a wimp.”
Yoongi wasn’t being a wimp. He was being a lawful and good citizen. At least up until he would rob a jewellery shop in, like, five minutes.
Sengho peaked towards the street and motioned Yoongi to follow him as he leaned against the wall and sneaked towards the end of the alley. It was 2 am, almost no one was around and Yoongi felt like he was an actor in a comedy film that was just about to reach its funniest part. It got the worst rating in the history of rotten tomatoes.
“Who even owns this place?” He muttered, and almost bumped into Sengho when the other turned around and look at him dead in the eye.
“My parents.” Then he raised his hood up to hide his face and kept walking, leaving Yoongi with his mouth dropped open to stumble after him.

Okay, Yoongi didn’t think stealing was decent. It was forbidden in the law for a reason, yeah?
But
they had already taken so many gold necklaces and from cheap to ridiculously expensive engagement rings, so what was one watch more?
It was gorgeous, come on. All shining silver and the clock was surrounded with tiny diamonds. So maybe he tried to take it as discreetly as he could but ended up setting off some kind of an alarm on the wall next to the door outside that started blinking with a red light and a high pitched ringing filled the room.
It could’ve been something else! Yeah, it was definitely something else that triggered the alarm.
Except a red light was also shining on the tagged alarm of the watch Yoongi had been eyeing like a kid in a candy store. A big candy store. Where the candies were extra yummy.
“Shit!” Sengho exclaimed, grabbing his three bags and striding towards Yoongi. He sighed, reached out and snatched the watch from its place, thrusting it against Yoongi’s chest so hard that he stumbled back and struggled to catch it before it dropped. “Let’s go, idiot. The cops will be on their way now, thanks to you.”
They ran out of the store and to the street corner, turning right where a rusty green car - Yoongi bet it’s better days were many years ago - was parked, waiting for them. The sound of sirens in the distance made Yoongi’s heart jump into his throat and he picked up his pace, passing Sengho and pretty much ripping open the door as he jumped into the backseat.
Yoongi could barely hear from the drumming of his heart and his ragged breath, so he flinched a little when Sengho landed on the passenger seat and even before closing the door behind himself, he yelled, “Hit the gas, Jimin!”
The driver chuckled. The only thing of him Yoongi could see was messy orange hair and the side of his face, but it was honestly too dark to describe it as anything but just that. Jimin - apparently - took Sengo’s order seriously and the motor of the old car growled as they started gaining speed, faster than Yoongi thought it was possible for a car like that.
“How’d it go?” Jimin asked, once they had been driving for a while without a single sight of the police and they had slowed down, letting themselves relax a little. Although, it seemed like Jimin hadn’t even been nervous to begin with.
“It went great,” Sengho muttered, before nudging his chin towards Yoongi in the back. “Until this fool got too reckless and set the alarms blazing.”
Yoongi felt his face heating up and looked down on his hand, where he was holding the watch.
Jimin clicked his tongue, reaching out to punch Sengho’s arm playfully. “Don’t be so harsh on the newbie, Sengho. He’ll learn.”
Yoongi raised his eyebrows.
Newbie?
“Yoongi only came with because he owed me a favor. Don’t think he’s into your kind of lifestyle. This guy is a good and honest member of our fantastic society.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes and couldn’t keep his mouth shut anymore. “You speak like you’ve known me since diapers instead of tutoring me for a few months. What’s my favorite color?.”
“Capitalism.”
Jimin’s laughter was loud when he stopped the car. Yoongi peered out of the window to see that they were under a bridge covered in graffitis - abandoned, he guessed. There was a fire burning in a big trash can, and Yoongi saw several people staggering around with a bottle or two in their hands.
Once again, he felt like he was in a shitty movie.
It was raining softly and Yoongi entertained the thought of just staying in the car instead of following Sengho as the other stepped out and kicked the door shut. He didn’t call Yoongi after him either, so he decided to stay put.
Jimin reached up and turned on the light on. It was dim and yellow but Yoongi still reacted like he had stepped into the sunlight and rubbed his eyes. When he opened them again, Jimin was staring at him with a curious curl on his lips.
And yeah, he looked a lot different than Yoongi had expected. A lot more...innocent? That might be just Yoongi sticking into stereotypes, because Sengho didn’t look like a criminal either except for his wide build.
But Jimin, he was- He was what Yoongi would think the barista from a k-drama - the one the lead actress falls in love with - would look like. Soft features, warm eyes and a small nose that had definitely never been broken before.
Still, there was a wicked type of shimmer in his eyes when he spoke, a little hint of danger. “So, did you have fun, newbie?”
Yoongi still felt the last bits of adrenaline run through his veins and he let out a long breath. “I think I almost fucking shat myself,” he blurted out, wanting to slap himself right after as the boy burst into laughter, leaning forward and accidentally pressing the horn.
It took him a while to calm down, but Yoongi didn’t mind. It was pleasant, his voice.
Like a puppy about to get its favorite treat, Jimin turned around fully on his seat and drummed the back of it in excitement. “C’mon, show me what you turned the alarms on for.”
Yoongi reached into his pocket, the urge to scratch behind his ear strong, just like always when he was nervous. Still, he didn’t do it, didn’t want Jimin to notice. He pulled out the watch carefully, wrapping his fingers around the cold surface of it.
Jimin’s lips parted when he brought it to the light. “Wow, that’s pretty,” he breathed out, fingers tracing along the ring of diamonds surrounding the clock.
“Yeah,” Yoongi mumbled, staring at how Jimin’s eyelashes made long shadows over his cheeks.
Jimin looked up and their gazes met. “No wonder you couldn’t keep your hands off of it. I bet you like pretty things.”
Yoongi could feel how the tips of his ears reddened and he tried to play it off by shrugging and pulling away to rest against the seat once again. The air around Jimin was almost hypnotizing like he was luring you into a trap with that playful smile on his lips, ready to rob him from everything.
Including his heart.
Dangerous.
Jimin was still staring at him as if counting his value with his gaze. Then his brows furrowed. “There’s something in your hair.”
“Huh?”
Instead of answering, the other man started climbing over to the backseat. Yoongi almost jumped and moved away to give him some space. Jimin breathed out a giggle as he settled down. Yoongi thought he smelled a trace of alcohol in his breath, but maybe he just imagined it.
“What’s in my hair?” Yoongi questioned.
Jimin held up one finger and started to fumble with his blue jacket. Yoongi’s teeth clicked together when he snapped his mouth shut. Once he deemed himself ready, Jimin shuffled a little closer before reaching out and running his fingers through Yoongi’s hair. Yoongi suppressed a shiver.
The other let out a hum. “I don’t like the way mint tastes.”
Yoongi raised a brow, and the other grinned.
“But the color looks nice on you.”
“Thanks.”
Jimin pouted his lips and mumbled, “Pretty.”
Yoongi couched, pulling back and scratching himself behind his ear. “So, did you get it off? The thing in my hair?”
A playful smile. “Yeah. Let me drive you home.”
“Thanks.”

When Yoongi came got out of the car and Jimin left, something felt off. He patted his pockets before turning to stare at the back window of the other’s car, getting further and further away, mouth draped open.
The clock.
He didn’t have it.
