I still don’t like you Yoongi pockets his phone with a sigh, shrugging on his jacket and grabs his keys off the rack before he heads out. With hands shoved deep into his pockets, he grumbles underneath his breath, mouth hidden behind his scarf. He doesn’t hate Namjoon - is quite fond of him actually - but he’s not a morning person and it takes at least two hours of sunshine to turn him back to his normal self. The cafe door opens with a jingle of bells, the actual place smelling of cinnamon and blueberry and smiles. The familiar scent of caffeine makes him feel a bit more awake as he gets in line (why is there a line at six am?), already pulling out his wallet. He zones out, plugging earbuds in and scrolling through his phone to pass the time (maybe he’s looking at puppies - maybe). It’s unconscious steps that he takes to keep up with the moving line and even then, he doesn’t realize he’s at the counter until: “Good morning, what can I get for you today?” Yoongi looks from his phone to the menu right above the barista, eyes scanning the options (sighing internally at the prices but hey, it’s not like he’s paying-). “Uh, can I get a-” Oh fuck. Fuck. His eyes travel back down from the menu to the barista and fuck, he’s cute. His red hair shines underneath the dangling lights, long golden earrings glimmering against his skin. Even his eyes - a dazzling pale blue (probably contacts but he looks deadly beautiful in them) - seem to hold stars, the little white gems stuck underneath his eyes emphasizing them even more. Yoongi gulps when he looks at his lips, full and kissable and pretty pretty pretty-) “Sir? Hello?” Oh right - coffee. “I, uh,” He coughs, a blush settling on his pale cheeks, “I um-”“Not sure what to get?” The barista laughs (even his laugh sounds as pretty as chimes, he could listen to it all day), and the corners of his eyes crinkle (each one breathtaking and Yoongi wants to memorize the way his lips turn up when he smiles and wonder how his two front teeth make him want to call him his bun-), “We make a good latte if you would like to try it?”“Uh, yeah? Yeah sure?” He can’t tell but his voice probably sounds breathless and his eyes won’t (can’t) move away. His focus catches on the shining metal pinned onto his apron, bold black letters spelling out “Jeon Jeongguk” and of course (of course) he had to have such a pretty name too.
Jeon Jeongguk, Jeon Jeongguk, Jeon Jeongguk-
“Anything else, sir?”“A, um, large cappuccino- both to go actually,” (He’s stumbling through his words like an actual teenager-)“No problem,” Jeongguk uncaps a sharpie and puts it between his teeth as he uses his free hands to grab proper cups (and suddenly Yoongi is fond? Of a cute boy he just met with a permanent marker in his mouth?), “Can I get a name to go with that?” “Min Yoongi,” he breathes out, watching as Jeongguk takes the marker and scribbles his name on both cups (but his handwriting is neat despite his speed and his hands are so nice- do normal people notice that?).“That’ll be eight thousand won,” And then, and then, he flashes the smile and Yoongi swears that his heart stopped for a second (he wants to grab a camera and frame that smile and hang it on his wall what the fuck-). So he fumbles with his wallet in his hands, pulling out the proper bills and hands them over (tries not to react when Jeonggguk’s fingers skim over his but that probably didn’t work out). “You can pick it up over there,” he points to Yoongi’s right, towards the other small group of people waiting for their own drinks, “I’ll call your name when it’s ready,”“Oh yeah, that’d be great - thanks,”“No problem, next!” When Yoongi walks away to wait, he finally lets out the breath he’s been holding (his lungs feel like they’re going to explode with roses and sunflowers and happiness) and maybe he looks a little too red because the person in front of him asks if he’s okay and he says that he’s fine (even though in reality his heart is bursting). He’s not ready (he thinks he never will be when it comes to the cute boy with red hair) when his name is called in that voice he’s already in love with, not ready when he looks up and there’s that same smile that makes him feel like his heart is beating out of his chest. He gets handed his two drinks in a tray and a blueberry muffin wrapped with a napkin, so focused on Jeongguk’s  jingling bracelets and elegant rings that it takes him a while to realize: “Oh, I didn’t order a muffin?” But the barista only shakes his head, earrings clinking together, “It comes with the latte - don’t worry about it,” “Ah, okay, thanks,” He takes one more second to stare at the boy behind the counter (burns his entire face into memory) before he turns around and leaves, burying his face into his scarf in an attempt to hide his reddened cheeks. When he gets to the office, his skin seems to have finally cooled down and he hands the cup to Namjoon who takes it with a grin, “Thanks hyung, how much was it?”“Eight thousand won,” Namjoon shuffles around in his pockets, pulling out the money and is about to hand it over when he pauses, “Hyung, you okay? You look a bit...off?”
Do not think about Jeongguk Do not think about Jeongguk Do not think about-
“Yeah, yeah of course I’m fine—just give me the money,” he huffs out, taking the bills straight from Namjoon’s hand before he hastily stuffs in it his own pocket and turns around to leave.“Thanks again, hyung!” And damn it, he’s always been so soft, “Yeah, no problem Joon-ah, your welcome.” The next day, Yoongi wakes up even earlier despite his body protesting. He takes his time; styling his hair, putting on nice earrings, slipping on a few more rings to match - even putting on a bit of makeup. He looks in the mirror and he thinks he looks good -  better than yesterday hopefully (but he’s never been extraordinary with fashion). He doesn’t even know if Jeongguk works today but he’s hoping (praying, really) to see that head of bright fire and that bunny smile so when he steps into the cafe (there’s no line - thank the heavens), hears that familiar ring above the door, and sees just the boy he’s looking for, he tries not to sigh in relief (and he realizes that he doesn’t need those two hours of sunshine anymore). “Hello! What can I get you today?” It’s the same smile but his eyes are now a dark brown and he’s wearing a dangling chain on one ear and studs on the other and now he’s got different colored gems near his eyes (but he still looks so so so pretty). “Um…” His laughter makes Yoongi flush, mesmerized by the sound- no, the melody of it. “Still not sure?” Jeongguk tilts his head just slightly, some of his hair shifting, “We make a nice espresso - you seem like an espresso kind of person, am I right?”
He remembers me, he remembers me, holy-
“I- yeah, I like espresso?” “Alrighty then, one espresso - to go again or?” The barista looks up from the cashregister, eyes peering up at Yoongi and there are butterflies (there have not been butterflies in years) fluttering in his stomach.“Yeah,” he chokes, coughs to cover it up and tries again, “Yeah, to go please,”“Mhm and it’s for Yoongi, right?”
He remembers remembers remembers
“Y-yeah, that’s right,” It’s the same thing (but just as adorable) when Jeongguk holds the marker between his teeth to use his hands, scribbles his name on his cup and asks him to wait in his honey sweet voice. This time, Yoongi leaves with his large espresso and another blueberry muffin. (“For Yoongi, one large espresso!” Jeongguk shouts out, eyes searching.
He walks up to the counter, picks up his order from the barista’s hands and,

“I didn’t order a blueberry muffin,” he repeats from yesterday, staring at it in his hand.

“Don’t worry about it,” Jeongguk smiles and Yoongi hopes he can’t hear his heartbeat, “it comes with the espresso,”
“Ah, really? Thanks,”) “Hey, hyung! Yewon noona brought doughnuts for finishing our project, you want some-” Namjoon pauses when he sees Yoongi, cradling his warm cup of espresso, cheeks pink and so far away despite sitting in his chair three feet away. (When Yoongi finally returns to reality, there’s a plate of donuts sitting on his desk with a sticky note reading “Noona got doughnuts, thought you might want some hyung” and he smiles because he knew he liked Namjoon for a reason) This morning is a repeat: he wakes up early to take extra care in how he looks before he leaves the house to get his daily dose of caffeine. When he walks in, he almost freezes because now Jungkook's hair is a bright blonde and Yoongi can already feel his heart speed up because how can someone be so beautiful - he’s truly baffled. The gems are blue today, sticking near the corner of his matching blue eyes and just below his lashes, and his earrings are silver crosses and studs (and his lips seem glossed and Yoongi is falling falling falling). This time, there is a line and Yoongi thinks,
That’s good, it’s good - I have time, I have time
Instead of focusing on the pretty boy in an apron, he focuses on the orders of people in front of him (he makes a list in his head because it’s almost like counting and counting always helps him - americano, iced coffee, espresso...). “Next! Oh, Yoongi-sshi! What can I get you today?”
He said my name He said my name - Yoongi, breathe-
“Uh,” he starts but Jeongguk is already smiling (and his smile is still so so bright and Yoongi is still falling falling falling), “You wanna try our cafe con leche? It’s kind of like an espresso but in a milk bath,” And really, Yoongi can’t say no - even to his coffee recommendations (he’s so lost in those doe eyes and he can’t find the motivation to find his way back out), “Yeah, yeah that sounds nice,” Jeongguk puts his order into the cash register and he looks up through his lashes to ask him,“To go, right?”
Oh my god he’s so cute-
“Y-yeah, to go,” While he waits, he hears the man before him have his order called (“For Junhui, a medium espresso!”) and it’s the same one he got just the day before. He watches the man walk up to the counter, grab his drink and thank Jeongguk before he turns to leave (but he doesn’t get a blueberry muffin?) and then it’s his name being called out in that voice he adores. “For Yoongi, large cafe con leche!” He grabs the cup and sees the muffin in Jungkook’s hand but looks up at his eyes instead, “I didn’t order a muffin,” he says, voice surprisingly steady. But Jungkook, takes his hand and places the muffin on top of his palm, pulls away with a grin (Yoongi is having trouble breathing because even his touch was so gentle and his gaze seems amused yet fond and he can’t breathe-), “Don’t worry about it - comes with the cafe con leche,” Namjoon isn’t surprised to see Yoongi’s flushed face that morning, same branded cup in his hands, but he doesn’t ask because he knows his hyung doesn’t like to be asked (knows he has a hard time admitting to other people he’s fallen for someone) but he does say: “Hyung, can you get me another coffee tomorrow? Same place, I’ll pay,” The next time Yoongi steps into the cafe, he hopes his face doesn’t show his disappointment when he doesn’t see Jeongguk behind the counter. Instead, it’s a girl (he sees her name tag reads “Si Mihye”) with curled black hair and kind eyes (and she doesn’t give him a muffin with his iced coffees, he learns, when he picks up his drinks and says thank you). “Joon-ah, hyung got you iced coffee,”“Thanks-” Namjoon pauses because Yoongi isn’t a little flushed like he has been and he’s worried because his hyung has always been so well at hiding his feelings (like heartbreak and he only knows because he saw him crying quietly behind his computer one day). “What?” Yoongi asks, raising an eyebrow and slightly shaking the iced coffee, making the ice rattle and bring Namjoon back from his thoughts. “Nothing, hyung… you’re okay, right?” “More like are you okay - why are you looking at me like that, Joon-ah? There something wrong?” Namjoon shakes his head no and smiles instead, accepting the coffee from Yoongi’s hand,“Thanks hyung, how much was it?” Yoongi waves his hand in dismissal as he turns around to leave for his own desk,“Don’t worry about it, hyung’s treat today,” Namjoon smiles, wants to say thanks again but: “Just don’t get used to it, Joon-ah.” Today, Jeongguk is back behind the counter, taking orders and handing out drinks with smiles (and of course, Yoongi’s heart almost escapes his ribcage and he presses his fingers to his breastbone - needs his heart to calm down, needs his lungs to stop making him feel like he’s drowning in sunshine and dandelions). “Yoongi-sshi! What would you like today?” (He definitely will never get used to his name coming from the pretty boy’s pretty lips-) “Any recommendations?” he asks instead of his usual stuttering and it seems to surprise Jeongguk just a bit (he notices his eyes widen slightly, would’ve missed it if he wasn’t already looking into his beautiful brown eyes). But Jeongguk takes it in stride, flashes him a smile and replies, “We can make a good cortado? It’s basically espresso mixed with steamed milk,”“Sounds good Jungkook-ah,” His mind catches up with his words and fuck fuck fuck - how did that even slip out? He’s going to apologize and apologize, he’s never going to come back and- Jeongguk is...is smiling? “One large cortado to go, that’ll be five thousand won Yoongi-sshi,” Yoongi hands over the money with red cheeks and wide eyes (and he sees Jungkook’s cheeks are also a bit pink but that can’t be right?) before he practically dashes away from the counter. He knows already when he picks up his cortado and sees the blueberry muffin Jungkook’s holding but he asks anyways (because he always asks and he’s kind of maybe hoping he’ll put it in his hand again), “I didn’t order a muffin,” he states but can see Jeongguk smiling (and he thinks it’s a bit scary how he would do anything to keep him smiling). “Don’t worry, it comes with the cortado Yoongi-sshi,” “Hyung,” he corrects softly, a blush creeping up his neck (and there are more butterflies traveling up his throat), “Don’t worry, it comes with the cortado hyung,”  He doesn’t think he’s seen Jeongguk smile this big before, his eyes crescents yet so clearly shining,“Don’t worry, it comes with the cortado hyung,” he repeats and Yoongi is soaring high into the sky, above the clouds, reaching for the sun- Instead, he reaches for his drink and muffin, “Thanks Guk-ah,” He’s leaving before he can blush even harder (before he bursts at the seams and Jeongguk can see all the marigolds and violets spill out of his soul). “Good morning, hyung,” Namjoon greets, “You look happy today,” And Yoongi can’t even deny it, “Yeah,” he says, a smile still gracing his lips, “Yeah, I’m pretty happy Joon-ah,” Today is his day off so he doesn’t go to the cafe as early as usual but he still goes (because he wants to see a pretty boy today too). It’s eleven in the morning when he arrives, the bells above the door announcing his entrance. Jeongguk greets him with a smile (and there are daffodils stemming from his bones, blossoming in bright honey yellows), “Hey hyung! You wanna try our mocha today?” (He’s blooming blooming blooming ) “Sure Guk-ah, you know best,” When he picks up his mocha though, there’s no muffin and maybe his frown his showing because Jeongguk laughs, “Hey, hey hyung,” he whispers and Yoongi is looking back up into those bright eyes, “can you meet me in the back? I’ll be there in a few seconds, yeah?” He can’t say no - he doesn’t want to say no so: “Yeah,” he breathes out, “yeah sure Guk-ah,” He’s been waiting for two minutes and his heart is racing and he’s pacing back and forth against the brick wall, finger tapping his mocha cup (he’s so nervous, he’s struggling to take a breath because his heart is lodged in his throat and every breath comes out as a cough of petals). The back door finally opens and Jeongguk appears, now without an apron and name tag but with that same smile and a blueberry muffin. “Sorry,” he says but Yoongi is still processing because he’ll never be able to comprehend how perfect this boy is, “Were you waiting for long, hyung?” “N-no, not long, don’t worry about it Guk-ah,” His words are a bit stuck (but he forces them out because this pretty boy deserves responses even if Yoongi can barely find them to give).“Guk-ah,” he echos, grins (so so prettily, Yoongi might do something stupid like kiss the pretty boy - kiss the corners of his eyes, kiss the mole on his neck, kiss the spot right above the lashes of his doe eyes-), “I like that, no one has ever called me that before,”“No? You don’t have any hyungs?”“Oh no, I have hyungs,” The pretty boy laughs, “they just always call me Gukkie or Jeongguk-ah or something like that, never Guk-ah - it’s nice,”“Yeah? S’okay if I call you Guk-ah?” Jeongguk looks even prettier when he blushes, “Yeah hyung, it’s nice,” (Their conversation never really goes anywhere but that’s okay - always okay because Jeongguk is cute and Yoongi seems to always have something to say when it comes to him. Maybe- Maybe he feels a little dizzy when the pretty barista gives him his number and tells him to text him sometime, maybe he’s so full of blossoms and sunny skies when Jeongguk leaves him with a kiss on the cheek before he heads back into the cafe) A few months later and he still goes to the same cafe, still brightens significantly when he sees Jeongguk (he’s got blue hair now, dark navy with green gems stuck just below the corner of his eyes). “Morning hyung, I’ll have your americano done in just a moment,” Jeongguk says just as Yoongi walks in, his grin still as bright as ever (he gives the poppies inside Yoongi’s heart sunshine, lets them grow deep within him). When he picks up his americano, he wordlessly leaves, walks all the way around the cafe to the back and smiles when he sees Jeongguk already waiting for him, blueberry muffin in hand.“Good morning, Guk-ah,” he whispers, wrapping an arm around the barista’s waist before pressing kisses over every inch of skin he can reach (his boyfriend is wearing a white turtleneck but Yoongi makes sure to brush his lips against the mole on his neck hidden underneath the fabric). He’s drunk on Jungkook’s touch, fueled by his giggles and he only stops to lean his forehead against the (his) pretty boy’s.“Have a good day at work, say hi to Namjoon hyung for me,” Jeongguk whispers before he presses in first and melts against Yoongi.“Course’ Guk-ah,” another kiss, “have a good day at work too,” (He’s almost late for work - he’s been almost late for a month now - but he leaves Jeongguk reluctantly, always asks for one more kiss before he goes) “Joon-ah, Guk says hi,” Yoongi says, stopping by Namjoon’s desk on his way to his own.“Mm, tell him hi back for me - and that his affogato is literally the best thing I’ve ever had in my life,”He snorts in response (but his eyes betray him because he is so so fond),“Sure Joon-ah, sure,” (When he sits down at his desk, he gets a message from Jeongguk that reads “You forgot to get your muffin, I’ll stop by on my break” and Yoongi is blooming blooming blooming )
