Welcome to Konkuk Univerisity’s acting department, dear newcomer!
Seokjin looks up to the slogan hanging above the grand entrance of the modern building that houses Konkuk’s acting department and purses his lips. He doesn’t feel like a newcomer, per se. And technically, he isn’t. He’s been a student of one of Seoul’s universities for over six years now; he just wasn’t part of this particular one. So in a way, Seokjin muses, the newcomer label does apply to him as well, even though all the true newbies around him are between four to eight years his junior, if he had to guess.Seokjin takes another deep breath before entering the building. This is his dream, and he has the right to be here. Earned it like every single one of these kids, through good grades and a terrifying audition process.Inside, even though Seokjin is pretty early, it’s already full of people. First years are standing in little groups, looking around with fearful excitement; older students are standing behind info-stands, smiling encouragingly at the young ones.Seokjin doesn’t know where he’s supposed to go. He wasn’t at the events prepared for first years because he’d been too busy finishing his master thesis, so now he doesn’t know anyone. Usually he sucks it up and pretends he has absolutely no problems simply walking up to some people and inserting himself into their group, but this time, this degree, is important to him. He doesn’t want to risk the fifty-fifty chance of his future classmates being put off by him intruding. He is just about to simply go ahead and enter the lecture hall in the hopes of maybe starting a conversation with his seat neighbour when suddenly, someone behind him taps him on the shoulder.Seokjin turns around so quickly he almost gets whiplash, and stands face to face with a young man about his height with bright blonde hair. And what a face it is. Big, dark brown eyes with the longest lashes Seokjin has ever seen look into his. For some reason, the stranger is standing so close Seokjin can see the little mole under his eye, as well as the ones on the tip of his nose and under his lip.Once the shock of having such a handsome person up in his face has passed and Seokjin can think clearly again, he quickly takes a step back. The stranger grins sheepishly, and Seokjin is immediately enamoured. He’s always been a sucker for cute smiles.“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” the stranger says and holla, that’s a deep voice. Seokjin sure has not expected that.“It’s okay,” he says and returns the small smile the stranger still has, “I get frightened too easily, you didn’t really do anything wrong.”“I probably shouldn’t have crept so close, though. My friends always tell me I have no concept for personal space.” Seokjin laughs at that, because that’s usually what his friends tell him.“Really, it’s okay. No harm done.” The stranger smiles again, relieved this time.“But … uhm … can I do something for you?” Seokjin asks then and the stranger’s eyes light up again as he seems to remember why he approached Seokjin in the first place.“Oh, right, sorry! Uhm, no, it’s not really that I want something from you, per se, it’s just …,” the stranger pauses, apparently trying to find the right words, “I saw you looking around a little bit lost, and I’m a little bit lost as well, so I thought we could be a little bit less lost together?” He ends the sentence in a question, looking at Seokjin with hope in his eyes.Seokjin feels his heart beating quicker and smiles. “That sounds great, I surely am a little bit lost. I’m glad I’m not the only one. What’s your name?”The stranger beams brightly before straightening up and doing a formal bow. “I’m Kim Taehyung, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”Seokjin bows as well, endeared by Taehyung’s manners. “Kim Seokjin, the pleasure is all mine.”Once they’ve both straightened up again, they smile at each other for a second, before Taehyung starts talking again.“So, Seokjin-ssi, I hope you don’t feel offended, but how old are you? You don’t exactly look like all these twenty-year olds around here.”Seokjin laughs. “I would sure hope I didn’t look like those kids. I’m 28.”Taehyung opens his mouth in surprise then and his eyes become even rounder. Seokjin has to quench the urge to suddenly pinch his cheeks, because that would be all kinds of weird and inappropriate.“28? Woah, sunbae-nim, you really don’t look that old. But you are a first-year?”Seokjin cringes at the respectful address and furiously shakes his head. “Please, please don’t call me that. It sounds horrible. Hyung is completely fine, if you like. That is if you are younger than me, which I guess you are?”“I’m 25,” Taehyung confirms and smiles brightly at Seokjin. “And I’d love to call you hyung.”“Great. Now that that’s settled, should we go ahead and look for good seats?” Seokjin gestures towards the lecture hall and after Taehyung nods, the two make their way towards seats in the middle, where they have a good view towards the podium.“And since you asked, yes, I am a first-year,” Seokjin continues once they’re seated. “Or I mean, in this major I am. I actually have a master’s in business though.”When he looks over to Taehyung, the blonde gapes openly at him. “What is it?” Seokjin asks, uncertain.“You have a master’s degree? That’s so impressive, hyung!” Taehyung’s eyes are huge and Seokjin blushes.“Thanks, but it really isn’t. I’m almost 30, it would be sad if I didn’t have a degree yet.”“No, it is,” Taehyung insists and he looks so sincere Seokjin almost wants to coo at him. “Business is a super hard major, and for you to have a master’s in it is really incredible. And also the fact that you decided to start a new major after years of what was probably very hard work for the first one. That’s … I don’t know if I could do that.”Seokjin smiles fondly at Taehyung and now it’s the younger ones turn to blush. “I … sorry if I went too far, I just really admire people who finished a whole major before changing, I never managed that.”“You really didn’t,” Seokjin says and lightly brushes Taehyung’s shoulder to get him to look up again from where he is fiddling with the rings on his fingers. “Go too far, I mean. And it’s nice to hear positive opinions on my decision. Most people tell me I’m dumb for having spent years on a major I didn’t plan on using at the end and start from scratch again.”“You’re not dumb,” Taehyung interjects lightly and smiles at Seokjin. “I don’t know you yet, but I’m a good people-reader. You definitely aren’t dumb.”“Thanks, you should tell all my friends that, they wouldn’t believe you,” Seokjin giggles, but blushes again. He loves hearing compliments, but he never knows how to receive them from someone he doesn’t know.“Anyways, you said you never managed to finish one major, so what did you do before you decided on acting?” Seokjin inquires and Taehyung snorts.“The better question would be what didn’t I do,” he says. “I started with marine biology because I really love fish but I figured out pretty quickly that we don’t necessarily watch fish but rather cut them open and inspect their insides so I stopped that after one semester … then I did sociology for a bit and that was really interesting but after like a year I felt like the only thing we really learned was how awfully unfair the world is and I didn’t enjoy it at all anymore. And then I changed to a classical music major for a while and that was really fun but after like three semesters I started thinking about what I’d want to do with a degree in that and I can’t compose for shit and I’m not good enough to play in an orchestra, so I went to my college counsellor and she proposed acting and I’ve always loved performing in plays and stuff, so now I’m here.”Once he’s done, Taehyung closes his mouth with an audible sound and looks at Seokjin sheepishly. “Sorry, I guess you didn’t want to hear my whole life story.”“Oh no, I loved it,” Seokjin assures and smiles at the other. “I think it’s amazing that you have the guts to simply say I don’t enjoy this anymore and do something else. I never dared.”“You did now,” Taehyung points out quietly, and then, even quieter, “so I’d say you’re the amazing one here.”It’s the third time Seokjin’s ears turn red and he looks away from Taehyung to hide his flustered expression. He feels Taehyung’s heavy gaze on him, and as he looks up to return it, he’s surprised by how sincere the other’s dark eyes are. Quickly, he looks down again. There’s an obvious shift in the mood as Taehyung waits for Seokjin’s answer. Seokjin can feel how tense the boy is next to him, he guesses Taehyung doesn’t usually flirt so outright with others – because that’s what he supposes this was. An attempt at flirting. A pretty good one at that, in Seokjin’s opinion. Under normal circumstances, he would immediately flirt back, since Taehyung is handsome, cute and nice. But –“Thank you,” Seokjin says and looks back at Taehyung, “but I only dared because my boyfriend basically forced me to apply.” He holds his breath and waits for Taehyung’s reaction. The younger looks at him blankly for two seconds, then he deflates slightly (which Seokjin only notices because he watches him like a hawk) before smiling. “You have a boyfriend?”“Yeah. Yoongi,” Seokjin nods and even though he feels slightly bad for the younger, he smiles too. He always does when he thinks about Yoongi. “We’ve been together for over seven years, ever since we started college. He’s known for years that my secret passion was acting and he was the one to give me the final push to try it out. It’s the right time for it now, I have a lot of savings and he is doing a very well-paid internship, so I can fully concentrate on this semester without working on the side, you know?”“That’s amazing. Both the fact that you have money, because I totally can’t relate, and obviously that your boyfriend is so supportive. I’m quite envious, hyung.” Taehyung smiles before looking at the front of the lecture hall and nodding towards the director of the department who has just entered. “I guess we have to be quiet now and find out what we’ll have to expect from the next three years.”Seokjin smiles at Taehyung once more before also turning his attention towards the front, excitement stirring in his body. He didn’t lie about this being his secret (or not so secret actually) passion, and even though he’s kind of scared shitless, he also can’t wait to finally study something he truly loves. After the first introductory lecture is over and everyone files out of the auditorium again, Taehyung turns to Seokjin, ever-bright smile still in place.“So, hyung, what do you want to do now? I overheard a few people saying they’d go to the cafeteria in a big group, getting to know each other some more. Do you wanna join?”“Ahh, I don’t know,” Seokjin says and scratches his ear. “I kind of have a lunch planned already with Yoongi and a friend, so I guess I’ll pass on that …” Seokjin watches as Taehyung’s face falls and instantly feels bad.“Oh, okay then,” Taehyung says and smiles again, but it’s severely subdued now. “Maybe another time?”“I’d love to,” Seokjin nods with vigour before pulling out his phone. “And maybe you should give me your number, if you want.”Within a second, Taehyung is back to beaming like before, taking Seokjin’s phone and quickly putting in his contact. When Seokjin takes it back and looks at it, he notices that the younger has put himself in as TaeTae ^-^.“Great,” Seokjin says and smiles, pocketing his phone. “I’ll text you, okay?”“Please do,” Taehyung replies with a wink and Seokjin can feel his ears turning red again. Maybe Taehyung is just a natural flirt.“Anyways,” Seokjin continues, trying to hide that he’s affected by Taehyung’s charm, “I got to get going now, but I’ll see you tomorrow?”“I hope so! I’ll save you a seat next to me, okay?” Seokjin nods, pleased, and Taehyung sends him one last boxy smile before turning halfway away. “Have fun with your friends, hyung,” he says, then he skips away and joins a group of three other first years standing in a small huddle.“Are you guys planning on going to the cafeteria? Can I join? Great, my name is Kim Taehyung, pleasure to meet you,” Seokjin hears him saying before he turns away to walk in the opposite direction, towards the café he and his friends usually meet up at to get lunch. When he arrives at the cosy little place he and a few friends had discovered back in their first year, he doesn’t hesitate, quickly going in and walking towards the back table where, sure enough, Yoongi and Hoseok are already waiting.Yoongi looks up when Seokjin’s shadow falls upon him, smiles slightly and then focuses back on Hoseok, who seems to be neck-deep into a story.Years ago, Seokjin would have been offended at such a lacklustre reaction, but now he simply scoots into the seat next to Yoongi, quickly squeezing his thigh before focusing on their friend, trying to get a hang of what he is talking about. Something about his roommate and a horrible date?“So, in the end, he wiped the blood off his face, ready to come home and never leave his room again, but then the guy just smiled at him, said ‘I had fun, text me?’ and went inside his apartment after – get this – kissing him on the cheek. Can you believe? Dude’s face is full of blood and still gets kissed.”“That sounds so incredibly like Namjoon, I can’t believe it,” Yoongi says and chuckles. “Anyways, how did they end up? Did Namjoon actually text him?”“Yeah,” Hoseok says and shakes his head, unbelieving. “They’ve been going steady for like two months now, and from Joon’s stories I feel like every date is worse than the one before but they simply won’t call it quits.”“Good for them,” Yoongi says, “I feel like I haven’t seen Namjoon in ages, this guy and his work must really be keeping him busy.” He quietly laughs once more, then he turns his head to the side and looks at Seokjin expectantly.“Now, for the actually important things in life –““Hey!” Hoseok interjects and Yoongi ignores him. “- how did it go today, hyung?”Seokjin waits for a bit, looking down at the coffee in front of him and up at the pictures on the wall, trying to build suspense until Yoongi squeezes his thigh, impatient.“Ouch, calm down, Yoongi-yah,” Seokjin chides and giggles, removing the other’s hand from his leg and instead interlacing their fingers.“But to answer your question, it was pretty amazing,” he says then and smiles earnestly, which Yoongi returns. “The dean is this super cool, super fierce lady and while she was kind of terrifying, basically threatening our entire existence if we dared slack off, she also explained what amazing things we’ll get to learn, and I honestly can’t wait to properly start tomorrow.”“That sounds awesome,” Hoseok says and gives Seokjin one of his trademark sunny smiles. “And how are your classmates? Did you meet any nice people?”“They are young, mostly,” Seokjin laughs. “Like, all of them look like babies to me. And it seems like a lot of them have already formed friendships during the first-year events, I felt a bit out of place there.”Seokjin can see the frown on Yoongi’s face without even looking in his direction, so he quickly continues. “But I did meet one guy. He’s only three years younger than me, he changed his major a bunch of times. Apparently he saw my sorry ass standing alone and decided to save me. But he was really nice and fun, and he promised to save me a seat for tomorrow and also gave me his number, so that’s pretty cool.”“What’s his name?” Yoongi asks, smiling softly.“Taehyung,” Seokjin replies, smiling as he thinks of the TaeTae that the younger man had put in his phone. “Kim Taehyung.”“Sounds nice,” Yoongi drawls before taking a sip of his coffee. “You could’ve invited him to come join us, you know?”“I know, but he wanted to go the cafeteria with some classmates to get to know them. He seems like he’s a lot more sociable than I am.”“That’s hard to imagine,” Hoseok says but Yoongi nods in understanding. He knows that Seokjin isn’t as confident as he acts in the prospect of meeting new people, afraid of having to present himself a certain way. It’s one of the many things they bonded over back in first year when they met, two awkward introverts stuck together in a dorm room.“Maybe he’ll have made other friends by tomorrow and then you can just squeeze your way into their group,” he suggests and smiles teasingly, “we all know you’re good at squeezing your way into things.”Seokjin simply punches him on the arm in answer while Hoseok looks mildly disgusted. “Please tell me that wasn’t an innuendo, I thought we forbid those while I was around?”Neither Yoongi nor Seokjin reply, but they both wiggle their eyebrows simultaneously and Hoseok simply groans before giving up.“Anyways, do you have anything else exciting to tell us, Jin-hyung?” Without waiting for an answer, Hoseok continues. “Good, because did I tell you guys about this freshman girl who’s a genius and recently joined our dance crew? No? Okay, listen up, you wouldn’t believe what she did yesterday …”Smiling amusedly at their friend, both Seokjin and Yoongi turn their attention towards the younger man, who starts his story with big gestures and even bigger facial expressions. Under the table, they wordlessly interlace their fingers again, Yoongi quickly squeezing his hand four times, a habit he kept up since their very first date.Seokjin smiles contentedly. Sitting with his boyfriend and their mutual best friend in their favourite café, and having made a new friend, he can’t wait for the next semester. He’s positive it’s going to be a great one. That night, once he’s in bed next to Yoongi, he pulls out his phone and decides to text Taehyung. He doesn’t have to wait long for a reply.Hyungie!

But nah, none of them were as amazing as you >//<

At that, Seokjin puts down his phone and squeals, which makes Yoongi look up curiously from the book he was reading.“What’s up?” he asks, but doesn’t bother to crane his head to see the messages on Seokjin’s phone.“Nothing. Taehyung is just a lot smoother than I expected him to be,” Seokjin replies and rereads the text again. He has no idea how to answer. After two minutes of staring at the phone in silence, Yoongi having gone back to his book, another message pings up. Haha have I made you blush again?
You blushed really cutely today all the time
Since we’re gonna be friends you’ll have to get used to compliments
You deserve a lot of them :)))

<3

Seokjin looks at the little heart and smiles, his own heart stuttering weirdly in his chest, before putting his phone away and rolling over, effectively squishing Yoongi under him, who only grunts in protest.“I was still reading that,” he says about the book that is now uncomfortably pressing into Seokjin’s sternum.“And now you aren’t anymore,” Seokjin reiterates and grabs the book, putting it down on the nightstand. He might have preferred dramatically throwing it across the room, but he knows that Yoongi cares about his books, so he treats them with respect.“Well, obviously,” Yoongi deadpans, but he doesn’t try to push Seokjin off, instead putting his arms around him and pulling him closer.“I’m really happy you had a good first day, hyungie,” he whispers into Seokjin’s ear and Seokjin’s heart flutters again.“Me too,” Seokjin whispers back, his lips brushing Yoongi’s neck. “And I’m really happy you convinced me to even do this at all. Thank you.”“Never thank me.” Yoongi’s voice is soft and Seokjin smiles. As much as he enjoys their daily banter, those quiet moments are his secret favourites.“I’ll remind you of that the next time you cook dinner and are offended if I don’t thank you,” Seokjin replies teasingly and lightly bites the younger’s collarbones. As a response, Yoongi pushes him off and looks at him with what is supposed to be an angry glare, but Seokjin thinks it’s more like a tired kitten look.“Shut up and go to sleep, hyung,” Yoongi says and Seokjin laughs, but he does turn around to turn off the lights.“Good night, Yoongichi,” he whispers into his pillow, and Yoongi, who has already attached himself to his back, grumbles into his neck. With a smile, Seokjin closes his eyes. The next day when Seokjin enters the small classroom his first proper lesson will be held in, he is greeted enthusiastically by a blur of blonde hair. Once Seokjin’s brain catches up with the fact that said blur is Taehyung, holding him in an almost choking embrace, he lets out a startled laugh and pats the other’s back.Once he is released, Taehyung looks a bit bashful for a second before returning to grinning wildly, grabbing Seokjin’s arm and pulling him along.“Come on, I saved you the best seat next to me, but there are a bunch of people I want to introduce you to!”And just like that, Taehyung integrates him seamlessly into a group of fresh-faced acting majors, who look up at Seokjin with his master‘s degree with big eyes. But they’re all nice, and they don’t make fun of Seokjin for his age, especially not after one guy had made a teasing remark and Taehyung had shot him down immediately with a deathly glare that, Seokjin has to admit, was actually kind of hot. Seokjin’s first day passes in a whirlwind of beginner’s lessons, introductions with other classmates and, most importantly, Taehyung. Chance has it that the two of them share every single group class there is, and since the single lessons only begin in the next week, they stay together the whole day. Seokjin gets to know more about Taehyung in that day and the following week than he had found out about Yoongi in an entire semester, but he likes it. He likes how openly Taehyung talks about his family, his younger siblings and their dog, about his grandparents’ farm that he spent a lot of time on when he was younger. He likes how Taehyung isn’t ashamed to admit all the times he screwed up in life, like how he failed a year in high school once because he was too busy chasing after a girl he liked to study for his tests (“in hindsight, it wasn’t all that bad, because after I had failed both school and getting the girl I figured out I probably liked guys more anyways,” Taehyung says, laughing and carefree). He likes especially how Taehyung wears his heart on his sleeve, not afraid to show it to someone else, or at least not afraid to show it to Seokjin. Because he does notice that all of the times Taehyung tells something more personal, he makes sure that everyone else is out of reach to hear it. Those stories are for Seokjin alone. And he likes that, too. That there are things only Seokjin is meant to know, that he holds a special place among all the new friends Taehyung had made in the first few days.In return, Seokjin tries to be open as well. Oversharing isn’t a thing he usually does, he has always been careful with his stories. He isn’t ashamed to loudly joke about the four points he got in a science exam in high school or other small mishaps, but the more personal stuff, that usually stays only between him and Yoongi and very few chosen friends. But Taehyung is warm and kind and so, so open, and when they’re sitting together between classes, quietly talking about their childhood and other things, Seokjin feels good to tell the younger one more about himself. Taehyung makes him feel good. And every night when Seokjin comes home to Yoongi waiting for him, or him waiting for Yoongi, he tells his boyfriend about the boy that made him laugh so hard in class he almost got sent out, the boy that always brings sweets and shares them with him. He’s gushing, Seokjin knows he is, and every night when he talks about another funny or nice thing Taehyung had done that day, he worries that this is the time Yoongi decides he’s bored of always hearing about this guy he doesn’t even know. But after almost a month of classes it still hasn’t happened, Yoongi is still patiently listening and asking questions and laughing along, and Seokjin is reminded every night why he loves him.But after almost a month of classes he also still has more and more stories to tell, because Taehyung continues being kind, and funny, and all around wonderful, and Seokjin is reminded every day that he’s confused. He is so, so confused. Because if there’s one thing Seokjin is good at (there are a lot of things he’s good at and he knows it, but those other things are irrelevant now), it is being aware of his own feelings. He might not be good at putting them into words, but he knows what he feels. And what he feels when he receives a text message and giddily checks to see if it’s from Taehyung, when he goes to class and is greeted by a warm hug every day, without fail, when he has hushed conversations during and between classes, he knows that it’s what he felt when he was crushing on Yoongi. It’s almost a text-book crush, with the blushing and the fast-beating heart and the smiles, the constant smiles, and Seokjin would feel amazing and happy about feeling so good about someone, except he doesn’t.Because Yoongi is the only one he should have such feelings for, and he does. He still loves Yoongi like he always loved him, still feels giddy and safe and happy around him. He just feels the same way around Taehyung, except the feelings are a bit more new and weird instead of comforting and simply there. And Seokjin would feel better about the whole thing if it was just an unrequited crush, because he knows those can happen sometimes and they can go away again quickly, but he is very sure that Taehyung feels the same way.The younger man is so obvious about it, on one hand, with the way he smiles at and touches Seokjin, with his words and jokes and sometimes even innuendos. But then again, he’s so respectful about the fact that Seokjin has a boyfriend. He never oversteps his boundaries, only goes as far in bodily contact as Seokjin allows it. He likes to hang out with Seokjin but always steps back immediately if Seokjin says he has plans with Yoongi. He regularly asks about Yoongi, and Seokjin can tell he really means it, in a nice way, really wants to know about Yoongi and how he is.And that just makes everything so much harder for Seokjin, because if Taehyung simply were an asshole, obviously trying to get Seokjin and Yoongi to break up, it would be much easier to get over him. As it is, it just makes Seokjin like Taehyung more, which is completely counterproductive. And so, when he comes home one evening after an early dinner with some classmates and Taehyung, always Taehyung, he joins Yoongi on the couch, making himself smaller to curl up into his boyfriend’s side, and when said boyfriend simply says, “hey hyungie, good day? How’s Taehyung?”, he can’t keep it to himself anymore.“Yoongichi, we need to talk,” Seokjin whispers, eyes glued onto the television as he feels Yoongi tense up next to him.“That … doesn’t sound good,” Yoongi says and Seokjin can hear the worry in his voice.“I don’t know if it is or isn’t good,” Seokjin admits, still whispering. Afraid that if he speaks it out loud, it will be more real.“What is?” Yoongi takes is eyes away from the screen, looking down on Seokjin instead, Seokjin can feel it, but he refuses to look up.“It’s ...” Seokjin stops, unsure how to word it. “It’s about Taehyung,” he says finally.“Why, is something wrong with him? Is he sick? Or does he want to change majors again?” Yoongi sounds genuinely worried at the prospect that Taehyung might be sick, and Seokjin wants to cry. Yoongi is such a good person, he doesn’t deserve what Seokjin plans to say next.“No, Taehyung is brilliant. Amazing, really. That’s the problem.”“I don’t understand,” Yoongi says and stops stroking Seokjin’s arm. “Isn’t that a good thing?”“It is,” Seokjin sighs. “But also it is not. Because … he’s amazing, and nice, and funny, and pretty, and I’m incredibly confused.”Yoongi has now gone completely still and Seokjin decides to sit up, looking at his boyfriend who stares at him blankly.“I’m confused,” Seokjin repeats, whispering again, “because I like him.”Yoongi keeps staring at him for a few more seconds before opening his mouth to speak, but Seokjin beats him to it.“And I know that’s horrible of me, and believe me, I feel so bad. And I know that the usual procedure I should follow now is to keep the fuck away from Tae, but I don’t want to. He’s my only friend, all the other people I hang out with are his friends. I don’t want to be alone again, and also I don’t want to keep away from him because I like him!”Once he’s done, he looks away from Yoongi, down at his fingers and back at the television, anything to escape Yoongi blankly staring at him.“You can say something now, please,” Seokjin whispers finally, after what feels like an eternity of silence but was probably only a minute or less.“I … I don’t know …” Yoongi starts but stops again. Seokjin carefully looks back at him and he can literally see Yoongi trying to order his words in his head. Once he seems to be done, he opens his mouth again.“Okay, first of all, thanks for telling me. And I’m sorry you feel so confused. I thought there might’ve been something eating at you the past few days, but I honestly expected you to come to me in like a month. You’re usually better at letting things eat you up.” Yoongi smiles at that point, and Seokjin has to contain himself not to openly gape at him. That reaction was not what he had expected.“I … have a few questions, I guess,” Yoongi says then, hesitating, and Seokjin nods vigorously.“Yes, of course, you deserve all the answers I can give you.”“Great. So … do you like Taehyung in like a sexual way? Because you talked about how pretty he was quite a few times and like … if you think he’s hot, and if you want to sleep with him because you aren’t fully satisfied in this relationship, I … I know I’ve been really busy with my thesis lately and therefore not really up for a lot of sex but if that’s the problem we really can try some new stuff …” Yoongi trails off and Seokjin looks at him with wide, horrified eyes.“No, no, no,” he says with urgency, reaching forward to grab Yoongi’s hands. “That’s not it, that’s really not it at all. I mean, yes, Tae’s definitely hot. But if it was only that I would deal with it no problem, because you’re hot and you must know that you not satisfying me or something is absolutely not what this is about!”Yoongi smiles slightly at that, and Seokjin continues.“The problem with Taehyung is that it’s more … adoration than attraction, I guess? He’s just so beautiful inside and out, and I’m fascinated by him, just like I was by you back when we got to know each other. But I promise, I swear to you, that I still love you as much as I always have. And I absolutely don’t want to break up with you, ever. Nothing about us has changed. That’s why I’m so confused. If I started to like Taehyung and therefore liked you less, I would hate myself but it would make sense to me. This … doesn’t.” Seokjin trails off and looks at Yoongi expectantly. Now it’s his turn again.Yoongi keeps quiet for a bit again, clearly ordering his thoughts yet again. Seokjin waits patiently. That’s another thing he has always loved about his boyfriend, the way he truly thinks before he speaks, makes sure to have his words in the right order to be as clear as he can. It’s very different to Taehyung, whose words always seem to flood out of him the moment they enter his head.“That sounds a lot like polyamory to me, I think,” Yoongi speaks up finally, and smiles at Seokjin’s obvious confusion before elaborating.“I mean, what you’re describing is basically that you love two people. Or, well, love one person and have a crush on another. That’s not so unheard of, really. I wouldn’t call myself an expert on it, but it certainly is a thing that exists. Maybe you’re just polyamorous.”“But … I’ve never been before,” Seokjin objects and Yoongi laughs, openly and loudly.“Maybe you’ve just never known before, Jin-ah,” he says and smiles at Seokjin fondly. “It’s like how you didn’t know you were gay until you met my beautiful ass and developed the strongest crush in the universe on said ass.”“It’s a great ass,” Seokjin mumbles and for a second they both laugh, and everything feels so normal and happy and like Seokjin hadn’t just risked their whole relationship by admitting feelings for another man.“It is,” Yoongi finally says once he sobers up. “But now you like Taehyung’s ass as well, so I suppose you’re able to love two asses at the same time. And that’s okay, Jinnie. I’m not mad at you, I promise.” Yoongi sounds incredibly sincere, and he stares into Seokjin’s eyes intently as he speaks. “I love you still and I won’t stop any time soon. But I also know fuck all about polyamory, really, so how about we turn on my computer and research a bit? I’m sure we’ll find some tips on how to proceed. Okay?”Seokjin sniffles a bit, looking down on their intertwined fingers, and nods. “Yeah, that sounds good.”“Good,” Yoongi smiles and leans forward, pressing a quick kiss to Seokjin’s lips before standing up and pulling at Seokjin’s hands to get him off the couch as well. They move inside their bedroom, where Yoongi’s laptop is placed on his nightstand as always, and while Yoongi sits down to turn it on and start his research, Seokjin curls up on the end of the bed, listening to Yoongi’s fingers flying over the keyboard. He doesn’t need to watch what his boyfriend’s doing. Since he’s currently writing his master thesis, Yoongi is brilliant in getting valid, credible information in the shortest amount of time.“So, Wikipedia defines Polyamory as the practice of or the desire for intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the consent of all partners involved,” Yoongi says and Seokjin rolls his eyes. So much for brilliant.“Hey, I can hear you rolling your eyes, hyung,” Yoongi protests when Seokjin doesn’t say anything for a second and Seokjin doesn’t have to look up to know that his boyfriend is pouting.“Sorry. I just thought you’d look for something other than Wikipedia,” Seokjin chuckles but sits up anyways to look over Yoongi’s shoulder at the screen, quickly reading over the Wikipedia entry.“Stop shitting on me using Wikipedia, hyung,” Yoongi protests and now he’s full on pouting, which causes Seokjin to full on laugh, which causes Yoongi to pout even more. Until Seokjin decides to kiss him on the cheek, leaning in and resting against his shoulder. “You’re right, Yoongi-yah. It’s not a bad definition, I’m sorry for making fun of you.”“You should be, I’m helping you after all,” Yoongi says but he doesn’t sound angry at all, so Seokjin counts it as a win. He rearranges himself, sitting down properly behind Yoongi, sneaking his arms around the smaller one’s waist and looking over his shoulder.Like that, they continue silently reading through the Wikipedia page, and once they’re done with that they click their way through a few forums, quietly absorbing all of the information listed. In the end, Yoongi wordlessly closes his laptop and turns around to look at Seokjin with a soft smile on his face. “See, polyamory isn’t as weird as you might’ve thought,” he says and gently strokes Seokjin’s cheek.“Guess so,” Seokjin replies, leaning forward to rest his forehead against Yoongi’s. “I like the way it sounds, but what should I do about it now? Apparently I have polyamorous tendencies, now what?”“Isn’t that pretty obvious?” Yoongi questions with an amused tone and Seokjin pulls back to punch him in the arm. “Yah, don’t imply that I’m stupid! No, it’s not pretty obvious, Mister Min Genius!”Yoongi laughs loudly while rubbing his arm and Seokjin almost feels bad that he apparently punched him harder than he had planned. But then again, Yoongi is still laughing, so it’s only almost. “The obvious answer to what you should do now is,” Yoongi says once he has calmed down again, “to ask Taehyung out on a date. Duh.”Seokjin looks at him with wide eyes. “What?”“What, what? Isn’t that usually the next step when you like someone? You admit the crush to yourself, then you ask the person out on a date. I mean in your case it’s admitting the crush to yourself, then to your boyfriend. But the next step should still be the date.” Yoongi sounds completely serious, and Seokjin is flabbergasted.“You would be okay with me going out on a date with another person?”“I mean … kind of?” Yoongi shrugs. “That’s why you told me about your feelings in the first place, right? You want to be with Taehyung? You’ll need to go on a date for that, you know?”“Yes, I know, I just …” Seokjin sighs, “I honestly didn’t expect this evening to go down like this at all. I’m still confused, to be honest. You’re taking this way better than I ever thought. I only hoped you wouldn’t break up with me, I certainly wasn’t expecting you to encourage me going out with Tae.”“Hyungie, I love you,” Yoongi starts and his voice is incredibly soft again, “and as I said, I’m happy you decided to tell me about your feelings. You’ve just read the same things as I did, polyamory is not as uncommon as one might think. And as long as all partners consent to it, it’s completely okay. Well, here I am. Consenting. Now you gotta figure out if Tae would consent as well, but you need a date for that.”When Yoongi is done, Seokjin is once again reduced to gape at him wide-eyed, before surging forwards and pulling Yoongi in the tightest hug he can muster.“Thank you,” he whispers into his boyfriend’s shoulder. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love you so much!”“I love you too, but you’re kind of crushing my rips here,” Yoongi whispers back but he holds Seokjin almost as tight as the other way around.Once they pull away from each other again, Seokjin clears his throat, embarrassed of the way his voice got thicker. “Okay, that’s cool, I guess,” he says and chuckles at the deadpan look Yoongi sends his way.“I guess I’ll ask Tae for a date tomorrow then? If you’re okay with it?”“I just said I am,” Yoongi says lightly before getting off the bed. “Now, we missed almost all of the drama that was on, but if we go right now we’ll still be able to catch the second episode. You wanna come or rather go to sleep?”“Who do you think I am, of course I want to come!” Seokjin is affronted and lets his boyfriend know with an accusing glare before getting up and walking back into the living room, Yoongi trailing behind. As they sit down on the couch, curled into each other, and Yoongi instantly immerses himself into the badly-produced drama that is on, Seokjin smiles contentedly. This was literally all he could have asked for. The next day when Seokjin goes to his classes, walking towards the classroom where he knows Taehyung will be, he feels more nervous than he’s ever been. Which is ridiculous, because there have been a lot of events in his life to make him nervous. Moving out, asking Yoongi to be his boyfriend, coming out to his family, presenting his master thesis, auditioning for the acting major, and so many more. Right now he only has to ask the guy he likes out on a date, his heart shouldn’t beat as fast as it does, but he can’t change it.So he walks inside the classroom, heart in his throat, and immediately locates Taehyung. As always, the younger one has a free seat next to him, and as he looks up and meets Seokjin’s eyes, he smiles brighter than a thousand stars.“Hyung, there you are! You didn’t answer my texts this morning, I thought you had died!” Taehyung quickly gets up and pulls Seokjin into a hug, Seokjin leaning into the touch. Usually, just the presence of Taehyung is calming for Seokjin, but today the close proximity just makes him even more nervous.“Ah, yeah, sorry,” he chuckles, trying hard to sound normal, “I had some things on my mind so I just … forgot.”“What things?” Taehyung sounds worried as the two sit down at the table together. “Is everything okay with you? With Yoongi-ssi?”“Yes, we’re both okay, we’re good,” Seokjin smiles at the concern on Taehyung’s face. “I just … I need to ask you something, but after this class, okay?”Seokjin had formed a battle-plan this morning on how to ask Taehyung out, and asking him after their first class was a part of it, simply because the rest of the days were single lessons only, so should Taehyung decide to turn him down, he at least wouldn’t have to spend multiple more classes with him.“Uhm, sure,” Taehyung says and even though he sounds quite confused, he simply smiles warmly at Seokjin, patting his hand and then pointing towards the front of the room. “Professor-nim is here anyways, so it’s probably good you want to wait.”Seokjin nods, taking a deep breath and smiling fleetingly at Taehyung once more, before he turns towards his professor, even though he doubts he’ll manage to concentrate today. Once the first class is over, the students file out of the room and even though Seokjin and Taehyung usually hang out with a few other classmates during the short break they have, Seokjin pulls Taehyung in a different direction this time. Taehyung doesn’t hesitate in the slightest, instead following the older wordlessly through the building until they reach a quiet corner with some seats. They sit down, and Seokjin can feel Taehyung’s expectant eyes on him, but for a minute he just stays still and looks down at his hands, gathering his courage. Then – “Tae, I want to ask you something, and obviously you can say no and I wouldn’t hold it against you at all and I hope we could still be friends if you didn’t want to, because I really, really cherish our friendship,” Seokjin says in one breath, and after a few seconds of silence, he carefully looks up to meet Taehyung’s gaze.“Maybe I’m completely mistaken, and I read all of our interactions really wrong, but I think you might have feelings for me. Is that true?”Seokjin watches carefully as Taehyung’s eyes go wide in shock and the younger pulls away from Seokjin. “Oh my god,” he says, frantic. “Oh my god, I’m so, so sorry! I know it’s really inappropriate because you have a boyfriend and you told me right from the start and I respect that, really! I’m so sorry, of course you’re annoyed by it! I’ll try harder to get over it and I won’t be so obvious anymore, I’m sorry!”Now it’s Seokjin’s turn to gape at Taehyung in shock. “What? No, no! Tae, that’s really not what I wanted to achieve by asking you, that wasn’t even the actual question! I’m not annoyed at all!”Taehyung, who looks like he was about to apologise again, closes his mouth with an audible pop. “Then … what did you want to ask?” he asks, quietly. Now or never, Seokjin thinks.“I … I wanted to ask you if you would like to go on a date with me? Because I’m really not annoyed that you like me, I’m actually more relieved … because I might feel the same way about you. So. Yes. A date. What do you say?” Once he’s done, Seokjin breathes out in relief. He did it. Now it’s up to Taehyung, but he did his part. He smiles inwardly, then opens his eyes and is met by Taehyung staring at him in shock.“Did … did you and Yoongi-ssi break up?” Taehyung looks horrified, and Seokjin is quick to shake his head. “No, no we didn’t.”That answer doesn’t seem to help Taehyung, he only looks even more shocked.“Hyung, I don’t know what you take me for,” he whispers, “but I’m not a cheater. Or, uhm, I don’t condone cheating. Which you would be doing if you went on a date with me.”Now Seokjin is the one who is horrified. “Oh god,” he says, “this went completely wrong. Of course you would react that way, because you’re the kindest soul I know.”Taehyung doesn’t seem happy with that compliment, instead he only looks at Seokjin sadly, and Seokjin would do anything to remove that expression from the younger one’s face permanently.“It wouldn’t be cheating,” Seokjin begins to explain and reaches forward, wanting to take Taehyung’s hand, but he stops himself before he does. “I talked to Yoongi yesterday and told him I had a crush on you. I was terrified, and convinced he would leave me, but instead he and I looked up polyamory together and in the end, he gave me full permission to go out with you. He was actually the one who told me to ask you out. So that’s why I’m here. Yes, I’m still with Yoongi, and I won’t break up with him, because I still love him. But I also really like you. You’re amazing, Tae, and I’m honestly freaked out by how hard I’m crushing on you. So … would you like to go on a date with me where neither of us is cheating on anyone? I get it if you don’t want to, this is an unconventional situation, so … yeah. I still thought I’d try my luck and ask you.”Taehyung’s eyes have become wide as saucers while Seokjin talked, and once he’s done, looking at Taehyung expectantly, the younger just stares for a few seconds before nodding frantically.“Yes! Yes, yes, yes! I would love to go on a date with me! Uhm, with you I mean!” Taehyung starts hopping up and down while seated, stumbling over his words in his excitement and Seokjin is absolutely endeared, but also incredibly relieved.“Really? You mean that? You don’t have a problem with going on a date with a guy with a boyfriend?” Seokjin almost can’t believe how easy this was, convinced that there must be a catch somewhere.“I mean, no?” Taehyung’s excitement dims down a bit and he looks thoughtful, and Seokjin appreciates the younger really considering his answer. “Polyamory isn’t that unusual, is it? I’ve heard about it before, it’s not a foreign concept to me. I’m just happy I get to go out with you at all, to be honest; it’s more than I ever hoped could happen.”“Great,” Seokjin says, even more relieved.“Great,” Taehyung replies and then they both just smile stupidly at each other before Taehyung looks down on his watch and startles. “Oh holy shit, my vocal lesson starts in five minutes, I should get going now!”He stands up hurriedly and Seokjin follows, because if Taehyung’s vocal lesson is starting, that means Seokjin’s is, too.So now they’re both standing in front of each other, having to go in different directions, and Seokjin doesn’t know what to do. Should he wave? Just say good-bye? Hug him or maybe even kiss him?In the end, Taehyung luckily acts first, stepping forward and pulling Seokjin into a hug, a bit tighter than the ones he uses for greetings, his breath tickling Seokjin’s ear.“Text me about the details of the date, okay?” He whispers, “and I’ll see you tomorrow.” He steps back again, smiling warmly at Seokjin. “I’m already looking forward to it.” With that, he gives one last small wave before dashing off, Seokjin simply staring at his retreating figure for a few seconds before he catches himself and starts walking towards one of the vocal rooms, a dreamy smile on his face. Seems like he has a date to plan out. On Friday night, two days later, Seokjin is again brimming to the head with nerves, but this time he’s also full of anticipation. He’s standing in front of a tiny gallery, off to the side in a dirty alley, waiting for Taehyung who had texted him a few minutes ago that he was almost there. And true to his word, it’s only one more minute of Seokjin waiting, then he notices Taehyung’s figure coming closer. He immediately smiles brightly, but the smile drops into a face of shock when Taehyung comes so close that he’s under the shine of a street light. The younger’s hair isn’t blond anymore, but a vibrant red instead.“Hey hyung,” Taehyung says, smiling sheepishly and moving in to hug Seokjin, which he reciprocates wordlessly.“You –“, he starts, and Taehyung already starts to laugh, reaching up to his hair before Seokjin has even finished, “you dyed your hair.”“I did?” Taehyung looks mock-surprised for a second before he’s back to grinning. “Thanks for telling me, hyung, I didn’t notice.”“Don’t be a brat.” Seokjin reaches up a hand to lightly brush through the vibrant hair and Taehyung audibly takes a deep breath. “You look amazing. You always do, but I don’t think anyone could ever pull off red this well.”“Thank you,” Taehyung mumbles, and Seokjin notices fondly that he’s forming a blush competing with his hair colour. “It’s a tradition my roommate and I have. Whenever we have a date that’s really important to us, we dye our hair beforehand. It’s like a good look charm. He’s still growing out the violet from his first date with his boyfriend three months ago.”“That’s adorable,” Seokjin coos, but he’s also blushing at the way Taehyung had so easily admitted to the importance of this date.So now they’re standing in front of each other, just blushing like two idiots, until Seokjin clears his throat and turns towards the entry of the gallery. “Anyways, should we go in?”Taehyung nods eagerly, and Seokjin hesitantly reaches out to take his hand before pulling him towards the entrance. Taehyung smiles and intertwines their fingers, and Seokjin can feel his heart fluttering. The gallery is small and not too crowded, so they have time to look at every picture in peace. It’s an exhibition of street artists, huge canvases full of graffiti and crayons, and Taehyung looks like he’s in heaven. He takes his time to admire every piece of art, wide eyed and open mouthed, and Seokjin has serious trouble concentrating on the paintings. They don’t talk a lot, just randomly pointing out some things they especially enjoy, but mainly they just walk around the exhibition in silence, holding hands all the way through. After what feels like an eternity and only five minutes at the same time, but was probably like an hour and a half, they have looked at every piece of art at least once, and Seokjin gets hungrier and hungrier, so he quietly suggests they leave, and Taehyung nods enthusiastically.Once they’re outside, it’s like a damn has broken for the younger.“Oh my god, this was incredible. This was one of the best exhibitions I’ve ever seen! Did you see the eye? With the woman inside? Stupid question, of course you’ve seen it, but have you ever seen anything like it? I haven’t. That was incredible!”Seokjin just smiles, listening to Taehyung rambling on about his favourite pieces, and like that they walk for almost ten minutes until Taehyung stops abruptly and looks at Seokjin sheepishly. “I talked too much again, didn’t I?”“You absolutely didn’t,” Seokjin denies, shaking his head with vigour, making Taehyung giggle. “I love how passionate you are about this. I admit, I haven’t caught half of the hidden meanings you’re talking about, so you could literally tell me anything and I’d be clueless, but I’m very happy that this made you so happy.”“It did,” Taehyung says, smiling softly, “make me very happy, I mean. And so do you. Thank you for taking me there. How did you find out about the gallery? I’ve been wanting to go there for ages, but my roommate was too busy recently with college and the boyfriend. Majoring in education is apparently much harder than one might think.”“Poor guy, I feel for him. Anyways, my friend, Hoseok, told me about it. I don’t know how he found out about it, but the second he mentioned it I knew it would be the perfect place for the beginning of our date.”“Only the beginning?” Taehyung is smiling even brighter now, and Seokjin nods. “Of course this was only the beginning, Taetae. Call me old fashioned, but for me a date isn’t a date without a dinner. So come on, we’re close already to my favourite late-night-barbeque.” He begins to stride forwards, pulling Taehyung along, and the younger’s laughter that fills the air sounds like music in Seokjin’s ears. They immediately get a table in the small, hole-in-the-wall but homely restaurant, and Seokjin encourages Taehyung to order as much as he wants when he sees the younger staring at the menu hesitantly.  The dinner passes fast, with a lot of talking and even more laughing, and in between there are times when Seokjin just stares at his date in awe, amazed at how well they’re clicking, how Taehyung seems to understand what he wants to say without having to say it, how he laughs about every bad joke Seokjin makes even though it’s obvious that he tries not to.It just seems too good to be true, because even with Yoongi it didn’t go so well on their first date, there had been so many awkward pauses, them trying to figure out how to talk properly. But with Taehyung, there’s no awkwardness, and when Seokjin calls for the check after dessert, he feels sad that the night is about to be over, but he can also see that Taehyung is starting to get tired. And so he pays, and they leave, and Seokjin offers to walk Taehyung home, and they do just that, holding hands again, while Taehyung talks dreamily about how beautiful the night had been.Once they reach the building Taehyung’s apartment is in, they hesitate. Taehyung seems unwilling to let go of Seokjin’s hand, and Seokjin shares the sentiment. They look at each other in silence for a bit, then Seokjin gathers all the courage he has, leaning forward and pressing a feather-light kiss to Taehyung’s soft lips. When he leans back again, Taehyung opens his eyes, looking dazed before he smiles brightly. He reaches up with his free hands, grabbing the collar of Seokjin’s dress-shirt and pulls him in, kissing him again, first soft and then with a bit more vigour. When they pull back again, Taehyung clears his throat and blushes slightly, while Seokjin knows that he is now the one looking dazed. He hadn’t expected Taehyung to be so forward, but he can’t say he doesn’t like it.“Hyung,” Taehyung whispers and his voice is so raw and so deep, Seokjin almost shivers, “do you want to stay the night?”He stares into Seokjin’s eyes deeply, intently, and Seokjin stares back, seriously considering it. It has been an amazing date, Taehyung is beautiful and hot and obviously willing, and Seokjin cannot deny that he wants it too, but … but Yoongi is at home this very minute, alone, and Seokjin just can’t.So he smiles, regretfully, and he sees the understanding in Taehyung’s eyes before he can open his mouth to speak. “I’m sorry,” he mumbles, his thumb caressing Taehyung’s hand where their fingers are once more intertwined. “I can’t, not yet. But I loved tonight, I truly loved it. And I love kissing you, we should definitely do that again.”“Yeah, we should,” Taehyung whispers and smiles, and when Seokjin looks at him there’s not a hint of anger or jealousy in Taehyung’s face. He just looks warm, and kind, like always. “Have a good night, hyung,” he says, leaning forwards to press one last kiss to Seokjin’s lips.“Yeah, you too,” Seokjin manages to reply before pulling back, regretfully letting go of Taehyung’s hand. His own immediately feels cold, and he puts it in the pocket of his jacket.“Text me when you’re home safe, okay?” Taehyung requests while pulling out his keys to open his door, and Seokjin nods. “Of course. And I’ll see you on Monday, yeah?”“Yeah.” Taehyung smiles again and enters the building before turning around one more time. “I’m looking forward to it, I miss you already.”“Sap,” Seokjin replies but he smiles, and Taehyung simply laughs before closing the door, and so Seokjin turns around to make his way home, a skip in his step, his heart full of warmth and laughter and happiness and something that he thinks might turn into love one day. When Seokjin gets home, it’s a little after midnight, and the apartment is dark and quiet. Without bothering to turn on the lights, Seokjin shrugs off his shoes and jacket before tiptoeing into the bathroom, pulling out his phone on the way to message Taehyung.

After pocketing the phone and washing up quickly, he enters the bedroom as quietly as possible, where Yoongi lies bundled up on his side of the bed, the lamp on the night-stand still on and an open book next to it.Smiling softly, Seokjin takes off his clothes, carefully putting them on a chair. He walks to Yoongi’s side to turn off the lamp before stepping over to his own in the darkness. The moment he slips under the cover, Yoongi starts to move.“How wassit?” comes his voice, even more slurred and gravelly than usual.“It was amazing,” Seokjin whispers, failing to contain the giddiness in his voice. “It was absolutely amazing, Yoongi-yah.”“’S good,” Yoongi mumbles, scooting forward until he can put his arm around Seokjin’s waist. “Glad you’re happy.”“Yeah,” Seokjin says, pulling Yoongi even closer to his side. “Me too. Thank you for giving me the chance to be so happy.”“Don’t thank me, ‘s all you,” comes the sleepy denial, and Seokjin laughs soundlessly.“I have to thank you for everything, Yoongichi. Every single good thing I have right now is because you gave me the courage to get it.” He says it intently, so Yoongi can truly understand how serious he is. His boyfriend never wants to be thanked, but there is too much Seokjin has to thank him for.“So cheesy, hyung,” Yoongi complains, but Seokjin can hear the satisfaction in his voice. “’S disgusting. Go sleep, talk more tomorrow.”“Yeah, sounds good,” Seokjin agrees, rolling to his side so he can face Yoongi, their arms and legs tangled together. “Goodnight, Yoongichi. I love you.”“Love you too, hyung, even when you’re disgusting. Shh now.” Towards the end Yoongi sounds like he has already drifted off again, so Seokjin spends a few more seconds to look at the smaller silhouette with, admittedly truly disgusting, soft eyes, before he closes them and goes to sleep with a smile on his face. And they do talk more the next day, and the day after that. Seokjin tells Yoongi all he wants to know about the date, and about the way they said good-bye, and how Seokjin couldn’t spend the night even though he kind of wanted to. Yoongi smiles at that, and says he’s thankful they didn’t do anything without him knowing, but that he understands and accepts it might happen someday soon. Seokjin can’t help but kiss him after that, trying to relay how thankful he is that way.(“Also, I would’ve been really appalled if you had slept with him on the first date, hyung. I remember you were adamant back in our starting days that you don’t put out before the third one. I’m actually shocked you kissed him already, it took us two and a half dates for that. You’re becoming slutty in your old days.”Seokjin can’t help but hit him for that one, but secretly he’s thankful that Yoongi is still the same asshole he’s always been. Taehyung’s already too earnest and kind, he can’t deal with two people who are just so much more emotionally mature than him.)But after a weekend that’s filled with Yoongi, and admittedly a lot of texts to and from Taehyung, Monday comes again and therefore Seokjin has to face the real world.  The first challenge of the real world comes in an unexpected form.At first, his Monday starts like usual, going to class and finding Taehyung there already. The younger one, who’s vibrant red hair colour has faded into a more pink-ish tone, looks up and smiles like usual, gets up and walks towards him like usual, but then he stops instead of engulfing him in a big warm hug like usual.“Is something wrong?” Seokjin asks, confused, because he had already spread his arms a little bit and now he has to let them fall down again in embarrassment.“No, nothing’s wrong, just …” Taehyung pauses and bites his lip, “I just wondered whether I should hug or kiss you. I’d like to kiss you but …” He moves his chin to the side a bit, as if to hint at the other people around them, and Seokjin understands. They’re a very small class, and everyone knows about Seokjin’s amazing boyfriend, because he is not very quiet about Yoongi. Surely, a kiss between the two of them would confuse many people.Seokjin smiles and reaches up a hand to lift up Taehyung’s chin. “You’re not my dirty little secret, Taehyung,” he whispers, then he leans forward to press a quick, chaste kiss to the other one’s lips. It still feels as amazing as it did two nights before, even with the immediate chatter coming up from their classmates around them. Seokjin doesn’t care about that, the smile on Taehyung’s face after he pulls away again is worth all the chatter in the world.“That was very romantic, hyung,” Taehyung giggles quietly and Seokjin pulls away, feigning disgust.“How dare you? I have never been romantic once in my life, you take that back, young man!”“Ahh, I don’t know,” Taehyung says, fully laughing now, “Friday night was pretty romantic, you have to admit that. And also the way you asked me out. And also all the texts you sent me lately. This might be news to you, but I think you’re quite the serial romantic, actually.”Seokjin sits down at his usual place with a huff, shaking his head in a fury. “This is the worst thing anyone has ever said to me! I think we might have to break up before we have even had the chance to properly be together.” He says it in a dramatic tone and even considers shedding some fake tears to add momentum (he had started practicing fake crying in his single acting lessons recently, he’s pretty good already) when he notices Taehyung has stopped laughing. When Seokjin turns to the side, the younger one looks at him with big eyes.“What’s wrong?” Seokjin asks, insecure.“You said properly be together,” Taehyung starts, and he sounds endearingly shy, “is that something you want?”Seokjin hesitates, confused. “I mean … yes? That’s what the date was for? To see if we were compatible in a romantic situation and we were, right? At least that’s what it was for me, if I understood you’re motives incorrect I –““No!” Taehyung interrupts. “No, you didn’t! I just … I wasn’t sure whether you actually really wanted to start dating me. Maybe you decided this weekend that one boyfriend was enough, or something. I just … wasn’t sure.” Taehyung looks insecure, and Seokjin can’t have that.“Tae, I just kissed you in front of most of our classmates. By now probably the whole university knows that I’m either cheating on my boyfriend or have broken up with my boyfriend. I wouldn’t go through the hussle of everyone assuming stuff about me if I didn’t want to actually really start dating you. I still stand by everything I said last week. You’re amazing, and I want to be with you. It’s going to be a challenge, I know that, because I’m already not the best boyfriend to one guy, so I’ll have to figure out to do it with two boyfriends now. But I do want to get the chance to figure it out, with you. I promise I’ll try my hardest. And Yoongi is still okay with me trying, so it’s up to you if you want to go out with an incredibly handsome but admittedly old guy who also comes with a gremlin boyfriend he can’t shake.”“Sounds perfect,” Taehyung says and seems sincere. “Especially since I’m handsome, halfway on my way to old, and come with a passive-aggressive or sometimes active-aggressive best friend I can’t shake, who by the way you’ll have to meet soon.”“I can’t wait,” Seokjin says, smiling, and Taehyung smiles back. And that’s how they actually really start dating. Seokjin spends the next few weeks in a haze of happiness, filled with days with Taehyung and evenings with Yoongi, or the other way around on weekends. Not even the impending first exams can wipe off the smile that has permanently settled on his face.(And if he sometimes is with Taehyung and feels like he is cheating on Yoongi, or if he is with Yoongi and feels like Taehyung deserves more attention from his new boyfriend – well, he’s very good at banning thoughts to the back of his mind.)He is very aware that all of the other students in their year, and many of the higher-ups are talking about his and Taehyung’s relationship, but even that doesn’t really bring him down. They do explain it to a few of Taehyung’s friends, who react nicely but ultimately confused, and decide after that not to bother with the rest. If they want to talk, let them talk.Explaining the new situation to Hoseok is more important to Seokjin, but in the end, after beginning to explain polyamory to him only to find out he is already pretty informed on the matter (how did everyone already know what it is except Seokjin?), his friend reacts as great as he always does.(“I can’t believe you have two boyfriends now while I can’t even get one – don’t people have eyes? I am obviously a much better catch!”“In your dreams, Hoseokie.”“But hey, does that mean that I get credit for getting you two together? After all, I told you about the gallery, so I’m the reason why your first date was amazing!”“Absolutely not … but also thanks for the recommendation, where did you even hear about it?”“Oh, Namjoon heard about it from his boyfriend who heard about it from his roommate, I think … Anyways congratulations, hyung. I hope you’re happy with your two boyfriends.”“Thanks, Hoseokie. I am. I really am.”) It’s a Friday again, four weeks after Taehyung and Seokjin’s first date, that Seokjin leaves the classroom where he just had a graded presentation and runs into Taehyung waiting for him, with a giddy expression and bouncing on the spot.“How did it go, hyung?” he shouts across the empty hallway and Seokjin laughs, shaking his head. Taehyung is a lot like Hoseok in that way, he really doesn’t know how to regulate his volume. But then Taehyung reaches him, and hugs him, and when he speaks next his voice is more appropriate levels of loud.“So, that was your last presentation for the time being, right?” He doesn’t even wait for Seokjin’s answer, but immediately continues, “so that means you’re free from practising this weekend, which is great, because Jiminie is also done with both his exams and his internship at that horrible school and therefore gave me permission to finally bring you along. Are you ready to meet my best friend?”And Seokjin nods with a smile, saying he’s looking forward to it, but internally he already starts to panic. Taehyung seems to think that Jimin, his best friend slash roommate slash platonic soulmate has hung all the stars in the sky, and Seokjin knows that Jimin’s opinion is important to Taehyung. So if his opinion on Seokjin isn’t positive then …But Seokjin is an optimist, and from what Taehyung tells him, Jimin is nice and cute and often compared to a fairy, so he’s sure it’ll be fine. It’ll be fine, and that’s what he tells Taehyung, planning out a time for when he’s supposed to come by the next day. It’ll be fine. It isn’t fine.Seokjin is only ten minutes into his visit, and he’s already scared for his life. Taehyung has been overly happy and overly clingy, giving Seokjin a tour of the small apartment he shares with three other 95ers the minute he had walked in, before pulling him to the living room table, where Jimin is sitting and eyeing them warily.Taehyung doesn’t seem to notice that anything is off, introducing the two of them before starting to talk, and on first glance, Jimin is a perfectly polite host. He smiles at the things Seokjin says, offers him food and drinks and adds to the conversation in a soft-spoken voice. But the minute Taehyung looks away, the smile drops off the others face and the stares he sends Seokjin’s way are nothing less than piercing. All in all, it’s very uncomfortable for Seokjin, who tries his hardest to not let it show and pretend that everything is normal instead. In his opinion, he’s succeeding. He’s not an acting major for nothing, after all.“Jimin-ssi, Taehyungie has mentioned that you dance a lot beside your studies, what kinds of dance do you do?” Seokjin asks, trying to sound nice and actually interested in his boyfriend’s best friend’s life – which he is. Or well, was, until said best friend decided to hate him out of nowhere.“Contemporary and modern, mainly. I used to do some ballet but I don’t have the time to keep that up nowadays,” Jimin answers, and he has this overly polite, sugary-sweet tone of voice. Taehyung doesn’t seem to notice anything wrong with it, smiling at the answer and excitedly talking about how Jiminie really is the best dancer ever, hyung, I’m so amazed by how he moves his body, but Seokjin can hear the venom laced behind the nice front. It confuses him to no end, the hostility with which he is faced, until Taehyung excuses himself to go to the bathroom, and Jimin and Seokjin end up alone at the table. At first, there’s just an uncomfortable silence and Seokjin tries to look everywhere but at Jimin, who sends deadly glares his way, but after a minute he can’t take it anymore.“Excuse me, but do you have a problem with me, Jimin-ssi?”If Jimin is surprised at being confronted so directly, he doesn’t show it. Instead he scoffs, and his eyes are like ice.“Yes, obviously I have a problem with you, Seokjin-ssi,” the blonde spits and Seokjin raises an eyebrow. “Would you like to elaborate on what said problem is?”“You can’t guess it yourself? You must not be as smart as Taehyung implies,” Jimin says mockingly and Seokjin doesn’t know what to reply, so he just gapes at the younger one in silence until he continues.“But my problem is, just very generally, you. Taetae is my best friend, and he’s the best person on this planet. He deserves the best, not some self-absorbed, arrogant older guy with a boyfriend who wants to keep Taehyung as a side piece for when his other man doesn’t have time for him!”When Jimin is finished, he clamps his mouth shut and continues his deathly glare, and Seokjin is momentarily too shocked to reply. How did this guy, who he had met not even an hour ago, manage to pull up all of Seokjin’s repressed worries? Before he has the chance to formulate an answer, Taehyung returns from the bathroom, still cheery and apparently unaware of the frosty atmosphere that has settled over the room.He gets back to the table and tries to ignite a new conversation, but Seokjin’s replies are stilted and Jimin’s are short, and after a few minutes Jimin suddenly stands up from the table. “Listen, I gotta go. I just got an idea for this stupid essay, I should start writing it immediately. Seokjin-ssi, nice to meet you. Taetae, I’ll see you later, love you, bye.”With that, Jimin disappears into his room and Taehyung is left confused, but Seokjin is relieved. He didn’t even dare touch Taehyung under Jimin’s scrutinising gaze, but now he immediately reaches for the younger ones hands, intertwining their fingers.“Uhm, so that was … shorter than I had expected,” Taehyung says, confused, and Seokjin snorts. He would have been happy had the meeting ended even sooner.“Well, I suppose that essay is really important,” Seokjin muses, swiping his thumb over Taehyung’s bigger hand. “But at least that means we get some more time to ourselves?”At that, Taehyung turns to him and smiles, nodding earnestly. “Yes, of course. I can spend time with Jiminie always, it’s special that you’re here! Let’s go to my room.”And so they do, and Seokjin loves the chance to inspect his boyfriend’s room. The walls are full of pictures of art and friends and animals, and there aren’t a lot of books but a lot of comics. The whole room feels very Taehyung, and so Seokjin immediately feels comfortable. They spend the afternoon lazing around on Taehyung’s bed, talking about random things and kissing in between, and Seokjin has missed this. In the past few months, or years actually, both Yoongi and Seokjin had become too busy to just do nothing for a day, lying around on their bed. There was always their thesis, or work and internships, or another big project, and if they had a day off for once they actually wanted to do something, go out and meet friends. And obviously Seokjin loves that as well, but still … it’s a very nice afternoon. When they say goodbye later that evening, because Seokjin has dinner plans with Hoseok and Yoongi, Taehyung smiles and proposes to do this again sometime. “Maybe next time, Jiminie will have more time and you’ll get to actually talk and get to know each other.”Seokjin smiles and nods, but secretly thinks oh dear god please no. He could very well go his whole life without getting to know Jimin better. As luck would have it, the next week seems to be the start of a very busy time for the education major, so any plans Taehyung might have had to bring him and Seokjin any closer have to be put on hold for the time being. Instead, it brings on some other opportunities.“Jiminie has decided on a forty eight hour library lockdown, only visiting his boyfriend’s place in between cause he lives next to the library. And Hyejin and Wheein will be on a weekend trip to their parents, so I’ll have the whole place to myself,” Taehyung says after class on Wednesday, and his voice is full of suggestions.“What are you saying?” Seokjin asks either way, because he doesn’t want to assume.“I’m saying that I have the place to myself, and you’ve told me that Yoongi-ssi will be very busy this weekend with his thesis. So, maybe you would like to stay over at mine?”And Seokjin would very much like to stay over at Taehyung’s, but he says he has to talk with Yoongi about it first, to which Taehyung nods in understanding, because of course he does.So he talks to Yoongi, and Yoongi says ‘I’ve been in the mood for some alone time anyways, I can take a bath and listen to music you don’t like at full volume and read my thesis out loud, it’s great timing.’And so it’s decided, and suddenly it’s the weekend and Seokjin stays over at Taehyung’s, who has bought fancy food and fancy candles and seems both adorably nervous and attractively confident somehow. In the end, the weekend passes in a blur of enjoyment, and only when Seokjin leaves a cute sleepy Taehyung to go back home does he start to feel bad, thinking of Yoongi who had been all alone all weekend. But Yoongi is in a great mood when he comes back to the apartment, relaxed and smiley and in the mood to cook, which he hasn’t been in weeks. He doesn’t seem jealous, he doesn’t act cold around Seokjin, and once again Seokjin can’t believe his luck. During the next few days, an idea that has been sitting in his mind for a while starts to really brew, and so Seokjin decides to do something about it.It’s the perfect time for it, Yoongi has all but finished his thesis, there are no close exams or presentations for Seokjin or Taehyung, and all of them are in a constant great mood. So he thinks it over, talks to Yoongi about it, and in the end he tells Taehyung as they’re on their way to a café after class.“Taehyung-ah, would you like to meet Yoongi?” Seokjin asks it casually, not even looking at Taehyung but instead on the road ahead, so he doesn’t notice that Taehyung has stopped in his tracks until he is pulled back by their intertwined hands. He turns around, and Taehyung looks at him, wide-eyed.“Taehyung?” Seokjin asks, insecure.“Yes!” A smile is slowly spreading on the younger man’s face and he seems to be brimming with excitement. “Yes, of course I would love to meet him! I didn’t want to ask before, because I would absolutely understand if he didn’t want to see me, but yes!”Seokjin laughs, so relieved that he can literally feel the tension seep from his shoulders. “I’m glad. I’m really, really glad. You’re both such important people to me, and you always have to hear about each other anyways, so I had hoped you’d like to actually meet.  I talked to Yoongi about it yesterday, and he’s really excited about meeting you, too. So, how about you come to dinner to our place this Friday? Would that be okay for you?”“Absolutely!” Taehyung nods vigorously, and they start walking again.“Great,” Seokjin says, panting a little bit because he has to keep up with Taehyung’s overexcited long steps. “We’ll cook for you, what would you like to have? Anything you wish for, we’ll provide.”“Anything?”“Anything.”“Great,” Taehyung smiles smugly, and a split second before he answers, Seokjin already knows that he is going to regret this decision. “I’d like Italian, then, please. I’ve always wanted to eat proper Italian but all the restaurants around here are way too expensive.”“Italian,” Seokjin says, resigned. “Of course it couldn’t have been simply Korean, or at least Japanese. No, it has to be Italian. Sure.”“What, do you have a problem?” Seokjin would love to wipe the smug expression off of Taehyung’s face, but a promise is a promise, so he only sighs and shakes his head.“Of course you’ll get Italian, love, if that’s what you want. Yoongi loves a challenge, I’m sure we’ll manage. Friday, seven pm, be there and you’ll get your Italian food.”“Great,” Taehyung smiles, but this time he sounds less smug and more earnest. “I’m really looking forward to it.” So is Seokjin, and so is Yoongi, as he mentions again later that night. When Seokjin tells him about Taehyung’s food request, he’s worried at first that Yoongi might react annoyed, unwilling to put in the extra work to research foreign meals and ingredients. Instead, he laughs and immediately looks up receipts on Naver.(“You know, from what you’ve told me about him, this sounds exactly like something Taehyung would do. I love it. It’s a challenge. Now come here and help me pick out receipts so we can buy the necessary stuff tomorrow.”) Friday comes quicker than Seokjin can blink, and suddenly it is seven pm, the kitchen is filled with the smell of pasta, herbs and steak, and the doorbell rings.“You take it, hyung, I’ll watch the meat,” Yoongi says and Seokjin nods, making his way to the door, wiping his hands on his slacks in the meantime. He’s really nervous, has been all night, which has given Yoongi many opportunities to make fun of him.But the nerves disappear, at least for a moment, when Seokjin opens the door. Taehyung looks incredible, dressed up in black slacks and a dress shirt with rose prints on it, complimenting his light pink hair. Topping off the look is the bright smile that breaks out on Taehyung’s face once he sees Seokjin and steps forward to hug him, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. That close, Seokjin notices that the younger has put on his favourite perfume.“Hey there,” Seokjin says and steps back to let Taehyung enter, “welcome to our home.”“Thanks,” Taehyung replies, carefully coming inside and toeing off his shoes, putting them next to Seokjins and Yoongi’s. His socks have little hearts on them, Seokjin notices fondly.“Come on, let’s go to the kitchen, that’s where Yoongi is,” Seokjin says once Taehyung is done, and he notices with a certain relief that while Taehyung looks excited, he’s also clearly nervous. At least Seokjin isn’t the only one. When they get to the kitchen, Seokjin has to try hard to hold back a snort at the casual way Yoongi is leaning against the kitchen counter, stirring the pasta with one hand, looking like he’s imitating a model shoot – or at least, trying to.Taehyung at least seems to be impressed by the cool appearance, if the way his eyes widen slightly is anything to go by.Supressing a smirk, Seokjin decides it’s time for proper introductions. “Taehyung-ah, this is Min Yoongi, my boyfriend,” he starts with a sly smile, “and Yoongi-yah, this is Kim Taehyung, my other boyfriend.”“Pleasure to meet you,” Taehyung says breathlessly, like he’s in a rush to get the words out, while Yoongi smiles lazily and nods, mumbling a short ‘hi’ in return. This time, Seokjin can’t quite hold in the snort at Yoongi’s desperate attempt to stay cool.“Yah, Yoongi,” he chides, walking forward and pushing the smaller one away from the counter he is leaning on, “stop pretending you’re cool, we both know you’re not. Greet our guest properly!”“Ouch, hyung,” Yoongi grumbles, rubbing his shoulder, but he steps forth nonetheless and extends his hands towards Taehyung while bowing slightly. “Seokjin-hyung may be an ass, but he’s right, I’m actually not cool. It is however really cool to meet you.”“Likewise,” Taehyung says, with one of his trademark boxy smiles, and Seokjin can see on Yoongi’s face how he momentarily blanks out at the beauty of it. Seokjin smirks, he knows the feeling.“Great, now that that’s out of the way, how about the two of you go ahead to the table, and I’ll be right out with the food,” Seokjin proposes, ushering the two younger ones out of the kitchen. He wants them to have a bit alone time, force them to actually talk to each other and not just through him.Apparently, his plan is successful. When he joins them two minutes later with the food, they’re already deep in conversation about Taehyung’s time studying classical music, but they fall quiet once the food is set down in front of them.“This smells incredible,” Taehyung says with awe in his voice, leaning forward to sniff the steak. “And it also looks fantastic. I can’t believe you actually made Italian food.”“Well, it’s what you asked for, and also it was fun. Challenging, but fun,” Yoongi says and shrugs, “right, hyung?”“Right,” Seokjin agrees, distributing the food onto the plates while Yoongi pours wine for himself and Seokjin and coke for Taehyung (obviously in a wine glass as well, tonight they are fancy). “But Yoongi undoubtedly had more fun, so really, you did him a favour, Tae.”“Glad to hear that,” Taehyung says with a shy smile which Yoongi returns, just as shy, and Seokjin swoons. “Well, the food is only getting colder, so let’s eat,” he says once the silence threatens to become awkward, and the others don’t have to be told twice to start stuffing their faces. For a while, nothing is said except Taehyung singing his praises about the food. Once they’ve all finished their first plate and start to slow down a bit – Seokjin really enjoys having two boyfriends who value his eat first, talk later mentality as much as him – they continue their conversation from earlier on.“- anyways, after a while it really got too annoying, the prof really wouldn’t stop getting on our nerves with his absolute pitch shit, giving all of us bad grades if we couldn’t perfectly play by the sheet on the first try and so on. It was horrible,” Taehyung recounts while cutting up his steak, and Seokjin watches how Yoongi leans forward, ignoring his own food, a sure sign to tell the other was really involved in the conversation.“Yoongi has absolute pitch,” Seokjin mentions absentmindedly, enjoying the way Yoongi instantly turns red, while Taehyung’s knife falls out of his grasp as he stares at Yoongi.“Really?”“Yeah,” Yoongi nods, embarrassed and trying to act nonchalant. “I suppose I do. I can hardly use it anymore, though, life got kind of busy.”“That’s incredible! I have never met anyone who actually had absolute pitch! There were just some professors and other students with a really good relative one. But … wow. Yoongi-ssi, you are a man of many talents, I must say.”Yoongi turns even redder, surprising Seokjin that that’s even possible, and splutters, trying to think of something to say. “You can call me hyung, y’know,” he mumbles in the end, resolutely staring down at his plate instead of at Taehyung.“I’d love to, thanks,” Taehyung says with a smile, and he sounds so damn earnest again, using the same tone he used that made Seokjin fall for him right from the start. He is just too kind to be true, Seokjin thinks, and not for the first time. However, there’s one thing that bothers him –“Wait,” he says, getting both his boyfriend’s attention, “didn’t you say your asshole prof had absolute pitch? But also that you’ve never met someone with it before? How does that work?”“Ahh,” Taehyung says and chuckles, “funny story. The prof actually lied. He doesn’t have absolute pitch, just a pretty good relative one.”“How did you find out about that?” Yoongi inquires, obviously glad that the topic is away from him again.“I had some suspicions for the whole semester, and in the end some friends and I decided to kind of put him on the spot, asking him about recreating a melody without a reference. He couldn’t do it, and in the end he had to admit that he ‘must’ve been mistaken about his assumption of having absolute pitch’. It was super embarrassing for him, obviously, but also really funny. After a semester of suffering, he deserved it.”“And that’s the end of the story?” Seokjin asks.Suddenly, Taehyung looks bashful. “Ah, no, not quite,” he says, rubbing his neck, “he figured out that we had planned this thing to prank him, and he got really, really angry, and while he couldn’t make us fail our finals he gave all of us the worst grade possible. The next semester I found out I would’ve had him again, and by then I had already been a bit unhappy, so that was the last straw and I dropped out of classical music.”Taehyung seems to be embarrassed by mentioning quitting his major and Seokjin is about to speak up, but Yoongi beats him to it.“You know, during the first semester of my master, I had this horrible old dragon as a professor. She was quite possible the devil incarnate, made us hand in new models of more and more elaborate buildings every week, but hardly ever giving anyone a passing grade, and just working us to the bone. Hyung can testify how close I was to just losing my mind completely,” Yoongi stops his story shortly, smiling at Seokjin who can very well remember that time two years ago. “Anyways, I was this close to dropping out. I had already looked up other universities for an architecture master’s program, I had looked up places that would take architects with only a bachelor’s degree, I even thought about doing another master entirely, engineering or something.”“What made you change your mind in the end? Did the lady suddenly become nice?” Taehyung asks.“No,” Yoongi chuckles, “she fell down the stairs and couldn’t come back to work. We got another professor, a much better one, and so I stayed. But had the dragon stayed, I wouldn’t have. Professors are an integral part of your college experience. If one threatens to ruin it, it’s completely valid to leave, because in most cases, you can’t make the professor leave.” With that, Yoongi is done, leaning back in his chair and while his expression may look blank, Seokjin can tell that he his content with himself.“You know, I’m really thankful for your asshole professor,” Seokjin says then, raising a hand to brush through Taehyung’s hair as the younger turns to look at him.“Why’s that?”“Because if he hadn’t been so bad and you had stayed in music, we never would have met,” Seokjin mumbles with a lazy smile. “That way, we got to know each other. So yeah, I’m thankful.”“Me too, to be honest,” Taehyung whispers and smiles, leaning forward a little bit as if to kiss Seokjin, but then he stops and leans back again, glancing quickly at Yoongi.“You two are so soft, it’s disgusting,” Yoongi simply says, but there’s a smile playing at his lips, and Seokjin scoffs. “As if you aren’t the softest person I have ever met. Should I show Taehyung all your Kumamon plushies in the bedroom? Or the gigantic photo album dedicated to Holly?”“How dare you,” Yoongi says, attempting to glare at Seokjin, which he reciprocates, but Taehyung gasps excitedly, taking both of their attention away from each other.“Jin-hyung has told me about Holly, that’s your dog, right, hyung?” Taehyung’s eyes are huge, like they always are when he sees a dog or thinks about a dog. “Do you really have a photo album for him? Could I see it? Please?”“Uhm,” Yoongi just says, surprised, before a smile slowly spreads on his face. “Sure, of course I can show you. After dinner, okay? And you have a dog too, right? Hyung told me about it. What’s his name, and where does he live?”And just like that, the two of them get engrossed in a conversation about their dogs, or their sons, as they call them, and Seokjin contentedly focuses back on the food that’s still on the table. While the others are busy cooing about their furry babies, Seokjin figures he can finish at least two more plates. And so he does. After they have successfully eaten all of the food – Taehyung complimenting the chefs once again – they transfer to the couch, Taehyung in the middle, with Holly’s photo album on his lap, as Yoongi is pressed closely to his side, giving explanations to each picture.Once they have gone through the entire album, the three of them stay on the couch, talking about this and that, finishing a wine bottle and a few more cans of coke, until it is late into the night and Taehyung can hardly finish a sentence without yawning in between. So they decide to call it a night, getting up from the couch regretfully. Seokjin and Yoongi walk Taehyung to the door together, and when they bid their good-byes, Yoongi hugs Taehyung tight and whispers something into his ear, causing the younger one to smile and nod bashfully. Seokjin raises a curious eyebrow, but neither of them acknowledge it as Taehyung quickly kisses him and says goodnight one last time before walking out the door.   Yoongi and Seokjin quickly clean up the dining table in silence, both tired and wanting to get to bed as quickly as possible. And it’s only once they are lying side by side with only the lamps on the night-stands still on, that Seokjin looks over to Yoongi and dares to ask.“So, how do you like him?”Yoongi snorts. “I hate him, wasn’t that obvious in how I treated him?”“Yoongiiii,” Seokjin whines and slaps him on the arm half-heartedly while Yoongi laughs out loud.“Ouch, stop attacking me, this is domestic abuse, hyung,” he fake-cries, grabbing Seokjin’s hand to stop getting hit further.“But in all seriousness, I really liked him. He’s incredibly nice. And funny. I get why you fell for him,” Yoongi says then, and Seokjin falls still.“Yeah?” he whispers, and Yoongi nods. “Yeah.”A warmth spreads inside Seokjin’s chest then, expanding so quickly that he thinks he might burst, and he raises the cover over his head to hide his obnoxiously bright smile.“I’m glad,” he mumbles from under the covers. “Then we can do this again sometime. Spending time with you individually is great, obviously, but tonight was better than I could have ever imagined.”“If it’s up to me, we definitely can do it again, hyungie,” Yoongi says and Seokjin can feel his hand in his hair. “But now come out from under there or you’ll suffocate. And also turn off the light on your side, I’m tired.”“Stop bossing me around, I’m your elder,” Seokjin grumbles, but he does as he’s told anyways, turning off the light before turning around and reaching for Yoongi’s hand in the darkness.“Goodnight, Yoongichi,” he whispers and waits for the inevitable ‘goodnight, hyungie’ before he closes his eyes and contentedly goes to sleep. The next weeks pass in yet another haze of happiness for Seokjin. Even though he, Yoongi and Taehyung don’t manage another meet up together – because Yoongi gets busy again with the opportunity to actually help design a building in the firm he working at, and the acting classes also pick up speed, preparing them for finals – he still spends a lot of lovely time with them individually. He loves his classes with a passion, for the first time in his life looking forward to going to university when he wakes up in the morning. Jimin still doesn’t like him, but eventually Taehyung seems to catch up on that, so Seokjin isn’t forced to spend any more time with his boyfriend’s guard dog. All in all, it’s a really good time. It’s on a rainy Thursday when Seokjin walks into his favourite café, in the mood for a nice hot coffee now that the sky is hung with dark grey clouds, with a smile on his face that has been kind of permanent lately, that he hears a loud, boisterous laugh he has become so used to in the past months.Curious, he looks towards the tables, looking for the creator of said laugh, and when he finds him, his mouth drops open in surprise.Sitting in the back, at their table, are Taehyung and Yoongi. They’re facing each other, having gone back to talking quietly with each other now that Taehyung has finished laughing, and while Seokjin can only see the back of Taehyung’s back-to-blond-now head, the fond smile on Yoongi’s face is very recognisable.Hesitating for a second, because he doesn’t really know what to do right now, Seokjin finally decides to walk over to the two of them. They’re both his boyfriends, he has every right to join them! And so he does, stepping up to their table, and looking down on them as both Yoongi and Taehyung notice his presence, stopping their conversation to turn their heads towards him.“Hyung!” They both exclaim at the same time, and Seokjin smiles, slightly forced. But they both look actually happy to see him, which placates him a little.“Hey,” he says, raising his hand for an awkward half wave and dropping it again in embarrassment, “mind if I join you?”“What a stupid question,” Yoongi scoffs and scoots over on his bench, patting the spot next to him, “obviously you can join us. I just thought you’d still be in class?”“Cancelled. Prof got sick,” Seokjin explains and Taehyung perks up. “Nice, is it bad? Does that mean I’m off tomorrow as well? I’d love that!”“Taehyung-ah,” Yoongi laughs, and Seokjin looks at him, surprised at the familiarity in his voice, “usually when someone tells you about a sickness, the first response shouldn’t be nice!”“Eh, whatever,” Taehyung shrugs, not looking guilty in the slightest, “it’s not like she’s here, and I could really use the hour off.”Yoongi hums, seemingly agreeing, and Seokjin is still confused.“I’m still confused,” he says, waiting until both Yoongi and Taehyung turn their attention towards him, “why exactly are you here? Together? Without me knowing?”“Oh, that,” Taehyung says, and Seokjin watches how a blush creeps up his neck while he tugs on his ear bashfully. Looking to the side, Seokjin can see that Yoongi looks pretty much the same, fiddling with his fingers on the table.“Uhm, we’ve been hanging out a few times, now,” Yoongi starts then, without looking at Seokjin. “We exchanged numbers first thing back when we met the first time, and then we’ve been texting a little, and then we’ve been meeting up a little. We just … have a lot to talk about, I guess.”“Yoongi-hyung is really cool,” Taehyung adds and the smile on his face is small, yet so, so fond. “I mean you’ve been telling me that for ages, but now I can definitely vouch for it.”“I understand,” Seokjin says, though he doesn’t really understand. He thinks he has a clue of what’s going on, but he doesn’t really want it to be true.“Are you –,“ he stops again, trying to find the right words –“are you interested in each other? Like, romantically? Or sexually? Or … whatever, really?”And Taehyung and Yoongi just look at each other for a second, before quickly looking away again, and that tells Seokjin everything he needs to know.“Okay then, so … I just want to say I’m not jealous, so don’t worry about that. At least, not really? I just … I … does that mean you figured out you’re both much better than me and would be much better off together, and now you’re both planning on leaving me and trying to figure out how to break it to me?”Seokjin is keeping his head down, gaze fixed on the table, and his whole body is so tense that he physically flinches when Yoongi reaches for his hand.“Seokjin-hyung,” he says, intently, and waits with going on until Seokjin has lifted his head to look at him, “you are. An absolute idiot.”“What?”“Truly, hyung,” Taehyung chimes in, but he sounds amused as he reaches forward to grab Seokjin’s other hand. “Only you would get to this ridiculous conclusion.”“It’s unbelievable that we love you, truly doesn’t speak for our own intelligence,” Yoongi continues.“But we do,” Taehyung finishes, squeezing Seokjin’s fingers, “love you, I mean. We really love you, hyung, okay?”Shakily, Seokjin nods, interlacing fingers with both of his boyfriends.“Okay, good. Now that that’s out of the way,” Yoongi says then, and Seokjin holds his breath again, anxious for what’s coming. “We have hung out recently because we really did like each other when we met.”“Yeah, and I mean, I already kind of had a crush on Yoongi-hyung long before we even met, simply because you always gushed about him so much, Jin-hyung,” Taehyung chimes in, chuckling slightly.“Exactly, same for me,” Yoongi nods and quickly smiles at Taehyung before looking at Seokjin again. “And so, we’ve been meeting up more often, and we still really like each other. Apparently, we have the same polyamorous tendencies you have too. We’ve been planning on talking to you really soon, because we want to go on an official, romantic date with each other, not just one of these hang-outs, to see if we’re actually romantically compatible. But we didn’t want to do it without you knowing about it, obviously. Because us dating would close this triangle we got going on at the moment, and that would obviously change our dynamics very much.”“So please don’t be mad that we didn’t tell you about this earlier,” Taehyung adds on. “We were actually talking about how to tell you before you arrived. Seems like we summoned you by mentioning you.”“Yeah, speaking of the devil and all that jazz,” Yoongi mumbles and Seokjin squeezes his hand extra hard for that, only letting loose again when he hears Yoongi squeak. Taehyung giggles.“Anyways, hyung, would you be okay with me and Yoongi-hyung going out on a date? Because we won’t do it if you aren’t okay with it … but also I really hope you are okay, I really wanna go.”“Am I okay with it?” Seokjin asks, incredulously. “Are you kidding me?”He feels both Yoongi and Taehyung’s worried eyes on him, so he goes on quickly.“I am ecstatic! This is amazing! To be honest, Yoongi-yah, I always felt a little like I was cheating on you every time I was with Taehyung. I love being with both of you, but I always felt bad. Like Jimin-ssi wasn’t so wrong about what he said. This, you getting together, all three of us being together is like a dream come true, something I never dared really wishing for!”He notices he’s been getting a bit loud towards the end, so he quiets down again. “I’m really happy right now.”Seokjin can literally feel the relief coming off of Taehyung and Yoongi, and they both exchange a look full of happiness before turning towards Seokjin again.“I thought you’d react that way, but I’m still really relieved you did,” Yoongi admits, quietly, and this time Seokjin squeezes his hand softly.“Yeah, hyung, thank you, I knew you’d pull through,” Taehyung says, but then he stops and frowns, “but wait a minute, what the fuck did Jiminie say to you?”“Oh,” Seokjin laughs and looks down, embarrassed, “nothing that’s important right now. He just really doesn’t like me.”“Well then he’s an idiot,” Taehyung declares. “I like you very much.”“Me too,” Yoongi adds, and Seokjin can feel his ears turning red.“Stop it, you two,” he mumbles, trying to pull his hands free to hide his face, but neither Yoongi nor Taehyung let go of his hand. Instead, they hold on tight and use Seokjin’s embarrassment as a signal to start flooding him with compliments and confessions of love. It’s horrible, but Seokjin’s heart feels warm, full and close to bursting, so all his attempts to make them stop are only half-hearted. Having two boyfriends gang up on him really isn’t so bad. They stay a bit longer to work out the basic details of the soon-to-come date. Since the next day will be a Friday, Yoongi and Taehyung decide to do it then, which works very well for Seokjin, because a movie he is interested in will be on TV and he had been wondering about how to bribe Yoongi into letting him watch it in peace for a while now. And that’s how he ends up on the couch in his pyjamas the next night, take-out food and snacks in front of him and the TV already on, albeit on mute, while Yoongi is walking around the apartment frantically, trying to style his hair and fix his clothes and collect his wallet and keys all at the same time.“Yoongi-yah, would you chill out,” Seokjin complains once the stressed aura radiating off the younger gets too much for him. “You look good, your hair and outfit are great, and you haven’t forgotten anything important. Just leave right now or you’ll be late.”Yoongi sends him an angry glare, but he stops his pacing around, so Seokjin counts it as a win anyways.“I’m too lazy to get up and give you a kiss goodbye right now,” Seokjin drawls while Yoongi puts on his shoes, making the other laugh. “That doesn’t surprise anyone, hyung.”“Asshole, that was obviously a request for you to come here and get your kiss. Or would you rather only be kissed by Tae tonight?” Seokjin says it with a joking tone, but when he looks over to Yoongi he can see that the younger has turned beat-red.“Do – do you think he’ll want to kiss me tonight?” he asks, and Seokjin has to try his hardest not to coo. It’s been a long time since he’s seen Yoongi be nervous over a date, he has forgotten how adorable the other man becomes.“Yoongi-yah, judging by his behaviour yesterday, the guy has a crush the size of the moon on you, and judging by personal experience, he is absolutely into kissing on the first date. So yeah, I’m positive he’ll want to kiss you tonight, especially with you looking like you do. I want to kiss you. So come here.”Yoongi turns even redder at the compliments, but he also has a pleased smile on his face, and he waddles over to lean over the couch and quickly kiss Seokjin.“Have a good night, baby,” Seokjin mumbles, carefully stroking through Yoongi’s hair, “I hope your date will be amazing.”“Thank you, hyung,” Yoongi whispers, kissing him one more before standing upright again. “I really gotta go now, though. Enjoy the movie!” With that, he’s out the door, and Seokjin lazily reaches for the remote to turn on the volume. He’s truly looking forward to a relaxed night. A few hours and almost two movies later it’s nearing midnight and Seokjin is sleepy. By now he has sunken so far on the couch that he can hardly see the TV screen, and he’s seriously contemplating whether he should go to bed or just nap here for a bit. Before he can make a final decision, however, he hears the sounds of keys behind the door, and a few seconds later the shuffling of two people coming closer.“Hey, hyung, you’re still awake,” comes Yoongi’s quiet voice and Seokjin takes that as a cue to look up. Yoongi has his arms around Taehyung, who wears tight black slacks and a black dress shirt, making his vibrant blue hair pop out.“Yeah, I am, wanted to wait up for you,” Seokjin replies and sits up on the couch to get a better look at the two. “I didn’t know Tae would be coming with you as well.”“Wasn’t planned,” Yoongi replies, leading Taehyung to the couch so he could sit down, before sitting down himself on Seokjin’s other side.“But Tae was tired and complained about his feet hurting, and we were closer to this place, so I just said he could stay. I hope you don’t have a problem with it?”“Of course I don’t,” Seokjin scoffs, leaning forward to first kiss Yoongi’s cheek, then he turned around to kiss Taehyung’s. “How did the date go?”“’S was amazing,” Taehyung mumbles sleepily, curling up on the couch with his head on Seokjin’s shoulder. “Yoongi-hyung’s amazing.”“Yeah, he is,” Seokjin agrees with a quiet chuckle, glancing over to Yoongi to see even in the low light of the room that his cheeks have turned slightly red. It has always been so easy to make him blush.“You were gone for a while, what did you do?”“We had dinner and then we walked around,” Yoongi says, but Taehyung makes a noise of protest.“We didn’t just walk around,” he complains, “Yoongi-hyung took me around the city to show me especially artsy buildings and told me about their stories. I’ve never heard him talk so much. It was incredible, but he also killed my feet. We walked around so much!”“Hey, you brat, I had only planned to show you one building, you were the one begging me to show you more,” Yoongi whines and Seokjin laughs quietly. He can imagine it well, Taehyung asking for more and more stories and Yoongi indulging him, both because he’s soft and because he loves talking about buildings.“It’s incredible how many museums are full of art but actually the art lies in the structure itself,” Taehyung mumbles, sleepily again, and Seokjin grins. This is such a Yoongi thing to say, it is obvious the younger had paid close attention during the date.“I’m glad you guys had fun,” Seokjin says, reaching up a hand to brush through Taehyung’s blue hair. “And Tae, baby, your hair looks amazing.”“Thanks,” Taehyung replies, squeezing Seokjin’s thighs where his hands rest on them, “’t was an important date, had to do the tradition.”“Yes, of course,” Seokjin says and brushes through the strands once more before looking back over to Yoongi, whose eyes have also started to drop closed.“Hey, Yoongichi, Taetae, I think we should go to bed, hm?”Yoongi slowly opens one eye again, seemingly assessing Seokjin’s proposal, before nodding and getting up with a loud groan. “Urgh, I’m never walking this much ever again.”“Your own fault,” Taehyung mumbles as he’s being pulled up by Seokjin, which makes Yoongi scoff and Seokjin laugh. Together, the three of them stumble into the bedroom. After washing up, which takes longer than usual because both Taehyung and Yoongi seem to be drifting off constantly, they fall into their bed, Yoongi and Seokjin on their usual sides with Taehyung in the middle.“I’m glad we have decided on the bigger bed back when we moved in,” Yoongi mumbles once the lights are out and Seokjin chuckles. “Definitely, seems like past us had some foresight.”“Less talking, more sleeping,” Taehyung complains from the middle, which makes both Seokjin and Yoongi shut up. “Good,” Taehyung says, content, and Seokjin smiles, reaching over Taehyung’s body to grab Yoongi’s hand, who quickly squeezes it four times.“Very good,” Yoongi rasps, seemingly seconds away from falling asleep, and Seokjin agrees. Things are indeed very good. Since Seokjin and Yoongi wake up earlier than Taehyung the next morning, they decide to surprise the younger one with a proper breakfast, and so Taehyung stumbles out of the bedroom once the smells of black-bean rice, radish kimchi and cucumber soup drift through the apartment. They spend the day relaxing together in between of talking about the logistics of their newly established relationship, now that Yoongi and Taehyung have decided to be together as well.Once it’s nearing the evening, Seokjin and Yoongi drive Taehyung back to his apartment, even going as far as to walk him up to the door. They both kiss him, making Taehyung squeal and basically run into his building, which in turn makes Seokjin and Yoongi laugh so hard they both start crying. As soon as they’re home again, the first thing Seokjin does is create a group chat with the three of them in it.(“Don’t judge me, Min Yoongi, I bet you’ll be the first one to use it,” he says when Yoongi only laughs about it, but he has the last laugh because of course, Yoongi texts the group chat only an hour later during a grocery run.) And like this, time goes on. It takes some getting used to, navigating a relationship with three people in it. It’s harder to find times where all of them are free, and it’s harder to find things to do all three of them are in the mood for. The people in Seokjin and Taehyung’s class seem even more weirded out now than they had been when Seokjin had started dating Taehyung. The first and only time Yoongi had accompanied the two of them until the entrance of the building, giving them both a kiss goodbye before leaving for the library, Seokjin had heard people talking about them behind their backs for the whole day, and the weeks following it didn’t let up.But all of that doesn’t matter to Seokjin, because despite the complications in navigating dates, and the few friendly acquaintances he might have lost, he’s happier than he’s ever been. Spending time with Yoongi and Taehyung is what Seokjin imagines being in heaven must be. There’s never a minute he feels lonely, always having either Taehyung or Yoongi or, in the best case, both of them by his side. But when he’s busy, or just not in the mood for socialising for once, he doesn’t have to feel guilty, because Yoongi and Taehyung can take that chance to visit dog cafés, or go to a concert together, or just talk about art and music for hours on end.Another plus side to them being a throuple now (Taehyung had used that word first, and after complaining that it sounded like a disease, it had stuck anyways; only Yoongi is still adamantly refusing to use it) is that Jimin doesn’t hate him anymore. Seokjin can only barely supress his laugh when Jimin comes up to him, mumbling about how he might have misjudged his character and that he’s happy that Taehyung has two boyfriends who care for him very much, I guess. Seokjin considers turning down the apology for a second, because the younger one might have been justified in his worries but was also very rude in conveying them, but Jimin seems earnest in his regret, and so he laughs and pats him on the back and the animosity is forgotten. Yoongi and Jimin hit it off immediately, much to Seokjin’s chagrin. Maybe it’s some kind of small people solidarity.Slowly but surely, Seokjin’s circle of friends becomes bigger. Taehyung and Hoseok apparently fall in love at first sight, Taehyung looking up at the red-haired man like he had put all the stars in the sky. Jimin and Hoseok don’t need to be introduced, both because they have taken a dance class together before, and because, as it turns out, Jimin is Namjoon’s boyfriend.(“Are you serious? You were the guy who saw Namjoon’s face full of blood. And you still decided to kiss him?”“What can I say, his dimples are deadly, be they full of blood or not. Stop judging me, Seokjin-ssi.”“First of all, I told you a dozen times to call me hyung, by now you’re just being rude! And second of all, I definitely won’t. Believe me, I am judging you so hard right now. There’s obviously something wrong with you.”“Shut up!”) Like that, one week becomes a month, a month becomes two, and suddenly the three of them have been together for almost four months, and Seokjin is still happy, happy, happy. The biggest problem they have had so far is figuring out which date to use when asked how long they have been together, and so far they haven’t been successful. (Seokjin and Yoongi have been dating for seven and a half years, him and Taehyung for seven months, and all three of them for four months. Seokjin suggests using all three dates, Yoongi is lazy and just wants to use the latest one, because that’s when we became the combination we are now, the combination we want to keep, right?, and Taehyung has suggested adding all the months up and dividing them by three, which is why he was disqualified from participating in the discussion.)Anyways, they’re happy, and that is what’s important.   (A few days before the five months mark, Taehyung comes home for dinner (officially he is still living in his own apartment, but he spends more nights with Yoongi and Seokjin than alone, so they have all agreed on calling their apartment home) with stars in his eyes.“You will not believe what has happened to me today,” he says dreamily as he’s waltzing into the kitchen, quickly skipping over to kiss first Yoongi, then Seokjin.“What I cannot believe is that you walked in here with your shoes still on,” Seokjin interrupts before Taehyung can even start, accusingly pointing down at Taehyung’s feet, still clad in sandals. “Yah, Kim Taehyung, didn’t your parents teach you manners?”“Don’t insult my parents, you know they are the nicest people on this planet,” Taehyung pouts, but leans down to quickly take off his shoes nonetheless.“They are,” Yoongi agrees, and Seokjin knows he’s right. They had met Taehyung’s parents last month, and they truly are just as kind as their son.“Anyways,” Taehyung says pointedly once the sandals are gone, “back to my story.”“Right, love, sorry,” Seokjin grins, turning down the heat of the stove so he doesn’t have to watch the soup on it, and turns around to look at Taehyung expectantly. “What will we not believe?”“You know that I modelled for this photography course today, right?” Taehyung starts, and Yoongi and Seokjin snort in sync.“Yes, babe, we know,” Yoongi says with a roll of his eyes, “you haven’t talked about anything else for the past two weeks.”“Shut up,” Taehyung whines, but he’s laughing as well, “anyways, I have met the cutest guy! Honestly, he was so adorable. He’s a first year I think, and he looks so shy, but he isn’t really, he talked quite a lot actually. And he’s so soft spoken, and his eyes literally twinkle, I didn’t even know eyes could do that! His nose is huge, I wanted to boop it so bad, you can’t believe how hard it was not to do it. And don’t even get me started on the bunny teeth, I just wanted to pick him up and put him in my pocket the moment I saw them. Adorable, I’m telling you!”Taehyung makes a pause to take a breath before getting right back into it, and Seokjin looks over to Yoongi only to find him already looking back at him. Yoongi waggles his eyebrows, Seokjin smirks, Yoongi smirks back, and Seokjin knows they’re on the same page. Taehyung obviously has a crush.“So, he looks adorable, that’s nice,” Yoongi says to Taehyung, smiling knowingly. “But you said he also talked, so what’s he like? Apart from cute?”“He’s hilarious, first of all,” Taehyung says, and then starts rambling about all the things he said and the jokes he made. The gushing carries on throughout the dinner and well into the evening when they’re all cuddled together on the couch, and Seokjin feels almost overwhelmed by all the information he gets, but mainly he feels impressed by how Taehyung had managed to find out the whole life story of the boy in only one meeting, and how he makes him sound like a god personified. After a while, when Taehyung’s talking slows down, and there are more quiet moments in between during which Taehyung thinks of what else he could say about the boy, Seokjin looks over to Yoongi again, only to find him already looking back.Seokjin raises an eyebrow, Yoongi smiles and nods, Seokjin smiles back, and he knows they’re on the same page once more. If Taehyung keeps going like that, they might get a crush as well.So Seokjin waits for another pause to tap on Taehyung’s thigh and signal him to listen. “Hey, Taehyungie, you said you and … Jungkook, that’s his name, right? You said you have exchanged numbers?”Taehyung nods, and Seokjin smiles.“How about you invite Jungkook over for dinner sometime? Yoongichi and I would love to meet him.”)
