Jingyan ignores the way the morning dew dampens his trousers as he pushes through the foliage and into the maze. The sleepy spring sunlight burns the mist a cotton gold, and Jingyan picks up his pace. Keeping his eyes on the wisp that flit and flutter out of every corner of the hedges, chasing the footfalls and hushed laughter.
It's a game between them; a little give and a little take in this chase that occurs because Jingyan can't help himself but want to devour his lover whole. The burning streak of singleminded need in
him when it comes to Lie Zhanying is ridiculous. But then Zhanying smiles and runs, and he follows and follows until, just like this, he finds himself in the centre of a maze, finding himself seemingly alone save for a moss covered statue of Athena.
"You can come out now." Jingyan says, a little breathless
looking around for the familiar mess of sleep. "Wouldn't this be much better if I could see you? Or better yet, if we could go back to bed and cuddle?"
"Don't tell me you're getting tired of chasing me, old man." Zhanying's voice echoes around him. Jingyan tries to get a feel of where he is speaking from. "I thought you liked leaving me in the morning for a good run."
"Zhanying..."
"You're the one who likes a good run. So run after me."
"If I'm running after you, you won't get to kiss me." Jingyan teases, the lilt of his voice curling in the early morning air.
It seems to work because it draws out Zhanying from the Eastern exit. Jingyan allows himself to swoon a little at the flush on his pale cheeks, the way the damp has now rendered his sleep shirt a dark second skin to his body. "Do I get to kiss you now?"
"Oh, I think we get to do more than kiss now." Jingyan promises, holding out a hand to Zhanying. He laughs when the younger man
bodily throws himself into his arms. Spinning him round, peppering his cheeks with kisses, swallowing the breathless happiness that bubble up between them.
Eventually the weight of the body in his arms tumbles him onto his back, and he finds himself sprawled under Zhanying with the other boy straddling his hips. He rests his hands on Zhanying's sides, boldly sliding his hands under the hem of his shirt.
"We're going to need a shower after this. We're filthy." Jingyan murmurs.
"Or we could just share a bath together."
"Or we could just do that." He agrees, rubbing his thumb on chilled skin.
"Do we have to be quiet?" Zhanying breathes, leaning down to brush their lips together in a ghost of a kiss.
"Well," Jingyan tickles his fingers up the ladder of his ribs, effectively pushing the sodden shirt off Zhanying. "We can scare the birds."
"I can live with that." Zhanying grins, hair a mess as he bends back down, melting into Jingyan's embrace and lips.
