Winter passed quickly, sending the people of Sakurami City straight into a new season: Spring. The cherry blossom trees were full in bloom and at this moment in time, Yukiteru Amano and Aru Akise have been a couple for about three months.Yukiteru smiled, sitting at his desk in his last class for today.He was playing with his pen while waiting calmly for this boring lesson to end so that he could walk home with Aru. That was one of his favourite things to do. Listening to their teacher spouting too passionatley about politics…not so much.Their other friends wouldn’t be coming with them. Mao was in the photography club and had a meeting today while Hinata lived in a different direction and normally headed straight home, so having alone time with his boyfriend after school like that was amazing in his opinion.After the whole issue with Yuno at the end of December, the pinkette got transferred to a new school as well as getting treatment for some kind of disorder she seemed to have. That were the only two things that were actually revealed and that was also the moment that many rumors spread around Umesato Middle School.It was never fully known what kind of disorder the pinkette had but it might’ve had just something to do with how she became obsessed with Yukiteru. There were rumors going about her having either an antisocial personality disorder, bordeline personality disorder or maybe even both.A kid in class whom Yukiteru didn’t remember the name of explained that a person with either of those disorders, or both, might’ve had an abusive childhood.He didn’t really know what kind of people Yuno’s parents were, since he had only met them once and that was when she wanted to attack Aru in front of their house after Yukiteru decided it was time to leave her for the albino since one; their kind of relationship was extremely unhealthy and two; because he had never loved her in the first place.Mrs. and Mr. Gasai had been shocked and apologized to the both of them for what Yuno had done, which lead Yukiteru to believe that they were good people but now he wasn’t so sure anymore.If it was really true what that kid had told him in class then it could be possible that her parents had been the cause for her developing those disorders and didn’t know how strongly affected Yuno was in the end or she was taken away from a abusive household in the past and since then lived with the Gasai’s?There were so many possibilities out there that it made Yukiteru’s head spin.Enough thinking about the past, he thought, rubbing at his head, I need to move forward and not think about her anymore.Even though he didn’t like what Yuno had done to him and Aru, he just couldn’t help but feel a little for her if the abusive household situation was true.Since there was no evidence though, he figured it would be best to let it go especially since he hadn’t seen or heard from Yuno in such a long time and that was honestly for the best.Aside from his thoughts about her, things have been going pretty well these past few months. He was getting a little better at knitting, he and Aru were still going strong, Hinata and Mao were the best friends who teased them and Kousaka had actually left the group and found a new club of friends to hang out with.Which means that he hadn’t gotten bullied in forever – at least it felt like that even though it had only been a few months - which was a good thing really. The reason for this change was because of Kousaka’s disgust towards homosexuals.He thought Aru to be cool at one time but all the respect he had for the albino disappeared when it came out that he had gotten together with the wimp of the school.At first Yukiteru had thought he’d get bullied even more by Kousaka, but that luckily hadn’t happened because the last time the other had tried that, he actually got into a fight with Aru, who defended him, and he had lost rather quickly.Aru might not be much into sports like Kousaka was but he definitly wasn’t weak. While Kousaka had only managed to punch Aru in the shoulder, the albino had hit twice as hard back and given the bully not only a blue eye but also a split lip.In the background Hinata had loudly cheered him on to ‘’kick his ass’’ while Mao shamelessly snapped photo’s of their fight.Yukiteru still remembered what Aru had said when he and Kousaka were forced apart by the teacher and got scolded by him.
‘’I only did this to protect Yukiteru-kun.’’ Aru’s voice was cold while eyes were looking at the bully with anger.
The albino wasn’t even looking at the bewildered looking teacher as he adressed him, feeling like he needed to be on guard even though the teacher, who had obviously not expected the normally good mannered Aru to act like this, had already pulled them apart.
‘’I was content defending at first. If Kousaka-san hadn’t hit me, then I wouldn’t have had to resort to violence myself. I only treated him the same way he treated me.’’
Yukiteru had felt both safe and a bit unsettled. He had never seen Aru like that before, so it was rather shocking to see him get that angry. He now knew he’d never wanted his boyfriend to get angry at him, it could be quite scary and he didn’t think he’d be able to handle that.Despite that he had been happy that Kousaka finally got knocked down and a little upset too, because it had gotten not only the bully but also Aru detention – his very first one mind you - so on that day Yukiteru had to walk back home on his own in the rain, without an umbrella.Out of the two his boyfriend had been the one in possession of it and he couldn’t just take it with him and leave Aru without one. So he had returned back home, completely drenched and the next day he had fallen ill with a fever, mentally making a note of buying himself a umbrella when he got better.Luckily it had been on a saturday, so Aru had come to check up on him the moment he called the Amano Household to talk to Yukiteru, only to hear from the brunette’s mother that he had a fever.
‘’I’m so sorry Yukiteru-kun.’’ Aru had apologized as soon as he sat down next to his bed, ‘’If I hadn’t gotten myself stuck in detention, then you wouldn’t have gotten ill. If I had known this would happen… ‘’
He shook his head and sighed, before taking his boyfriend’s sweaty hand into his own and looking down at him with concern.
’’ I wish you would’ve taken my umbrella with you, I wouldn’t have minded going back home without it.’’
Aru sounded absolutely genuine. If Yukiteru wasn’t already burning up and flushed red from the fever he was having, then the other would’ve seen him blush. His boyfriend was such an amazing guy.
‘’It’s okay, A-Aru-kun…’’ Yukiteru smiled weakly. He was still having a bit of trouble calling the albino by his first name. ‘’If I had taken your umbrella- ‘’ He turned his head away and coughed, ‘’- y- you might’ve ended up sick instead…I wouldn’t want that either and besides, I don’t like taking something with me that’s not mine to begin with. I’d feel guilty, as If I’ve commited a crime or something…’’
Aru stared at him.
‘’Yukiteru-kun…’’
Yukiteru blinked and tilted his head to the side, not understanding why he was just staring at him like that with such an unreadable look in his crimson eyes.
The corners of Aru’s mouth twitched, and he chuckled quietly. Even when he was sick, Yukiteru was very cute.
‘’You’re too pure for this world.’’
After that weekend Yukiteru was fully nursed back to health and Kousaka had officially left the group and hasn’t come back to bother them since then.While he was stuck in his thoughts, he hadn’t noticed that the classroom was almost empty. A tap on his shoulder made him blink and look behind him. There was his white haired and crimson eyed boyfriend, bag in hand and looking ready to leave.‘’Yukiteru-kun, is everything alright?’’ He asked him, looking down at him with a concerned look on his face.‘’Yeah,’’ The brunette reassured him, a smile blooming on his face. ‘’Did the bell ring already?’’ He asked and Aru nodded his head in response.‘’You didn’t hear it.’’‘’ I didn’t.’’ Yukiteru admitted sheepishly, ‘’I was thinking.’’‘’About what?’’‘’…About things that happened since we’re together.’’ He responded, ‘’I’ve been a lot happier since then. Though I still can’t believe you got detention that one time.’’Aru couldn’t help but sigh.‘’You like reminding me about that, don’t you?’’He wasn’t actually a model student because before they got together he tended to skip classes in order to play detective, but in school and even outside of it the albino had more fans than he could count.This included a girl from a shrine who was almost completely blind – he remembered her calling him her prince once - and a five year old boy who they happened to come across one time when he had claimed he had gotten lost from his parents.Yukiteru laughed slightly. ‘’Sorry Aru-kun. I know you don’t like talking about that – ‘’ Ofcourse not, thought Aru, feeling the guilt creep up at him once more, you got sick because I wasn’t there to offer my umbrella to you.It was something he never wanted to happen again if he could avoid it. It was the first and hopefully last time he got detention. Yukiteru fell ill because he refused to take his umbrella with him and leave Aru without one when he had to go home through the rain himself when detention was over.His sweet Yukiteru was too selfless sometimes.‘’ – because you still feel guilty but I just can’t help myself. It’s something I’ll never forget for as long as I live.’’Instead of responding, the albino leaned in and kissed Yukiteru’s forehead, making him giggle.He understood that the other found it funny and to be honest it could actually be kind of amusing in a way when you reflected on it later in the future and saw Kousaka’s shocked and bruised face but until he managed to not feel guilty anymore about what happened afterwards, he wouldn’t be laughing with him.‘’Let’s walk home.’’Aru gave Yukiteru time to gather his things and they left the school building. As soon as they were outside they felt a soft breeze and the albino took the other’s hand in his empty one, squeezing gently as they walked hand in hand.Small pink cherry blossom petals flew past them and they heard giggling as they walked past a group of girls who were looking at them.There had been a bit of a commotion when it came out that the Aru Akise was taken by someone and not just anyone but by another boy as well.Mixed feelings were everywhere – disgust and jealousy being the most common – but there was a very small group that actually seemed…interested in their new relationship and after a few days started their very own fanclub about them.And though the fanclub was rather small even after a few months had passed since it was created, they were still trying to ‘’corrupt’’ people and get more members.Yukiteru had been shocked when the club had been created at first and even tried to get the girls to stop it, which only made them plead and whine that they created the club to get people to be more accepting towards homosexuals. At least, that was the first reason. The second reason was…
'’You’re so adorable together! My friends and I totally ship it! We promise not to make any of the stuff we make about you guys public in school or anywhere else without your approval but don’t take this away from us please!’’
Yukiteru felt totally speechless and, without knowing what to say to that, left them to do what they wanted, deciding that trying to ignore the fanclub would be the best idea.In the mean time Aru had just smiled sweetly at the girls and seemed to enjoy this new development. He had even told the girls that he’d like to meet up with them sometimes in order to discuss the new content they had created.His acceptance towards the fanclub only made the girls love Aru more.So far though, Yukiteru had been very happy to see that nothing they had created – he didn’t know what they did and he didn’t want to find out either. Seeing stuff about him and Aru being created by others…the thought alone made him feel creeped out – had been made public.That might just be because his boyfriend kept a good eye on them though.Aru and Yukiteru didn’t pay the girls any mind and left the school grounds together.‘’It’s perfectly cloudless today…I wish there weren’t so many lights in the city.’’ The brunette murmured in disappointment as he looked up at the blue sky, ‘’Then people wouldn’t have to travel so far just to look at the stars.’’Even though lights were needed for late night traffic, it took away the beauty of the stars you would normally be able to see if they weren’t here.‘’There’s always the option of visiting a planetorium but I know you would prefer to look at them outside with a telescope.’’ Aru spoke. Besides the only planetorium that was nearest to them was at the amusement part, and the albino didn’t really like those kind of places.Many of the attractions were obvious death traps – there was always something that could go wrong even if the chance of something bad happening wasnt at all high – and despite that it just didn’t look like it was any fun. Especially not with all the people screaming more than was nessecary.But if Yukiteru wanted to go there someday, then he wouldn’t mind and do his best to have a good time. Though something, in the deepest parts of his mind, told him that the brunette wouldn’t be very fond of amusement parks either. Maybe because of how easily frightened he could get.He silently wondered how Yukiteru would react to rollercoasters.‘’My wish of watching the stars with mom and dad will never happen. Not after…’’ Yukiteru fell quiet. Just talking about it brought back bad memories of what happened in December.‘’I understand. How about we go stargazing when we have some more free time?’’ Aru suggested, ‘’I know it’s something you wanted to do with your parents but if you ever change your mind I’d be happy to watch them with you instead. I’d like to spend more time together. Just the two of us.’’Normally Yukiteru would’ve protested instantly, like he had with Yuno when she had once suggested that they could go watch the stars together instead if his parents couldn’t come with him but now it just made him fall silent. He frowned and Aru knew that he was seriously thinking about it.‘’I think…I think i’d like that.’’ Yukiteru admitted after a moment of silence, ‘’I want to go with my parents but…I wouldn’t mind it if its with you.’’ There was a small blush on his cheeks, ‘’I want us to do more things together too.’’Aru smiled. ‘’I’m glad to hear that. Speaking of stars, have you started on that book I gave you yet?’’Yukiteru nodded his head, a wide smile on his face and his eyes sparkling. ‘’I did! I’ve only read a little but it is very interesting. I now know that there’s much more to stars that the eye can see. Diameter, mass, rotation, magnetic fields…there’s so much that I didn’t know about them before. I’m really enjoying it.’’‘’That’s really great Yukiteru-kun, I’m happy that you like it.’’ The albino chuckled at the other’s enthusiasm. ‘’Do you have a job in mind for the future?’’‘’No.’’ Plans for the future were things he didn’t really want to think about for a while yet, ‘’Why are you asking?’’‘’Well with how much you like stars, maybe you’d like to become an astronomer someday?’’Yukiteru froze in place and paled a little, and then let out a nervous chuckle when Aru looked back at him in surprise.‘’I don’t think I’d like that. Traveling to space sounds really scary...’’‘’Oh Yukiteru-kun, you’re confusing astronomer with astronout.’’ Aru laughed slightly, squeezing the other’s hand reassuringly. ‘’An astronomer is an scientist who studies things in space like stars, planets and comets. ’’ He gently explained.Yukiteru felt himself relax and the bit of color that had left his face gradually returned. That actually didn’t sound all that bad. Pulling himself together, he started walking again.‘’And seeing as you’re pretty good at observing things. I’d say becoming an observational astronomer would be right up your alley. Ofcourse you’re only fourteen, so there’s really no need to decide on a future career just yet, but it’s still something you can think about right?’’Aru was completely right, they were only fourteen. But despite the other’s reassurances Yukiteru felt a bit left behind since he knew that his boyfriend already knew what he wanted to become in the future. A detective. And he could totally see it too because Aru was really intelligent and could be quite cunning too.He felt glad that Aru had made the suggestion though, because Yukiteru was pretty uncertain when it came to figuring out something for a future career. He wasn’t very good at a lot of things and he didn’t have a lot of interest towards other kind of jobs either, so becoming a astonomer was definitly something to consider.The observer part was also true and even though Yukiteru didn’t type much in his phone as before, he still sometimes put down things in his memo pad that he sees in his surroundings.‘’Yeah.’’ Yukiteru agreed with a soft smile, ‘’I’ll think about it.’’A comfortable silence settled between the two as they continued their walk. They were almost at the point where they would have to seperate ways, but until they reached it they kept holding hands and didn’t talk. They both listened to the birds that were chirping in the trees.The good weather was more than enough to make animals happy. Yukiteru followed a bird with his eyes as he flew towards his nest and then another bird one of the same kind who was probably his mate popped up as well.Yukiteru couldn’t help but smile.Spring was truly a great season for love.‘’We’re here.’’ He heard Aru say.They had finally arrived at the point where they would part. Aru was about to pull his hand away from Yukiteru’s, but the brunette kept holding onto him.‘’Yukiteru-kun?’’ He looked at him in question.‘’I love you.’’ Yukiteru beamed at him, ‘’No matter what the future has in store for us, I just want you to know that I want to be with you for as long as you’ll have me.’’Those words managed to make Aru’s heart flutter, and if one looked close enough they would actually be able to see him blush. It was a bit unexpected to hear Yukiteru say that but it wasn’t at all unwelcome. No it was actually very sweet.‘’I love you too Yukiteru-kun.’’ He smiled back and pulled him closer, before slowly leaning in, ‘’And I want to be with you. Forever.’’‘’Forever…? A-Aru-kun...’’ Yukiteru stammered and his face turned crimson.His heart starting to beat harder inside of his chest at how close the other was getting to his face. Sure he had gotten used to kissing Aru and having Yuno force kisses on him in the past had made him pretty confident, but when he got caught off guard with sweet words first before the albino decided to swoop in for a kiss…Let’s just say that he turned a bit shy.‘’That’s right. Forever.’’ Aru whispered sweetly. He let go of Yukiteru’s hand and moved his to place his palm the other’s cheek to keep him in place. ‘’I never want to let you go.’’‘’M-me neither…’’The thought of being with Aru for such a long time…that sounded absolutley amazing to him. Yukiteru felt the other’s hot breath on his lips and closed his eyes just before their lips got sealed into a kiss.
