Yuta was absolutely head over heels in love with Winwin. You can ask anyone on campus and they would tell you the exact same thing, Yuta’s in love with him. He would always follow Winwin around, he would eat lunch with him, he would walk him to his dorm (even though his own dorm was on the other side of the campus), he would do anything for that boy.The sad part, however, was that it was a long unrequited love. Every time Yuta would hug Winwin, he would shove him, or when he would tell him he looks good today, he would simply be met with an eye roll.So you would think that Yuta would be used to the rejection by now but, he isn’t. He would continue smiling when Winwin would push him away, but inside a piece of his heart would break. He’d pretend to be used to Winwin saying that he’s annoying, but when he’s alone in his dorm, he’d cry about it. He would tell the others that when Winwin says that his presence is a bother that it was fine when in reality it wasn’t fine at all. He was so so tired of it, and with all honesty, he’s been thinking about trying to move on already.Yuta loves Winwin, with all his heart. But, it also hurts. Loving Winwin was suffocating for Yuta, but he couldn’t do anything about it. So when he saw Winwin cuddling up to Taeyong in the lunch table, Yuta was hurt. Winwin didn’t like skinship, he would always push anyone away. So why was Taeyong different. With that in mind, Yuta sat opposite of them, faked a smile, and said hi to his friends.Almost all of them simultaneously frowned at that, all expecting him to fuss about Winwin and Taeyong like he normally would when the others try to cuddle up to Winwin.“Yuta hyung, are you okay?” Jaehyun asked warily.“Yah, why wouldn’t I be?” Yuta asked, looking for his packed lunch in his bag.“I mean you’re not fusing about Winwinnie and Taeyong cuddling,” Johnny said slowly.“Oh that. I don’t mind” Yuta said. Of course, he minded, he doesn’t know why he’s hiding it though. He would usually just try to pry Winwin off of the others, but now he just couldn’t bare looking at the Chinese.“Okaaaaay...” Ten said raising an eyebrow at Yuta. The latter simply smiled and started eating his food. The others were all still looking at him weirdly including Winwin.“Winwin-ah, I forgot to tell you but an old friend of mine just transferred here and we decided to meet up after my class, so I won’t be able to walk you back to your dorm,” Yuta said after eating his food silently and still not looking at Winwin. There were shocked expressions among the others since Yuta never EVER missed an opportunity to spend time with Winwin.“Oh... that’s good, hyung. I can finally have some peace from you” Winwin said jokingly.“Yup,” Yuta said giving a big fake smile towards Winwin.“...” Winwin was looking at Yuta with a very shocked face. Whenever he would call Yuta annoying, the older would usually whine and try to cuddle him. So he was pretty surprised by that. Winwin’s thoughts were interrupted when Yuta’s phone started ringing.“Hey Jungwoo! Yah we’re still up for later! I already had a reservation for that Japanese restaurant that you wanted to try out.” Yuta kept on talking on the phone while fixing his stuff and silently saying goodbye to his friends with a wave while still talking on the phone.“Okay, that was hella weird!” Mark said. “Who is this Jungwoo guy? Why is Yuta hyung meeting him instead of walking Winwin hyung?”“Jungwoo is Yuta’s best friend. They were inseparable during high school, but Jungwoo got into a different university.” Johnny explained. They were all looking at Winwin who still looked a bit shocked from Yuta’s behavior.“He didn’t kiss my cheeks or patted my head when he left...” Winwin said confused as he stared at the direction where Yuta went. The others looked at each other and sent pitiful gazes towards the Chinese who became quiet throughout the whole break.———————-
“Hey are you okay?” Kun asked Winwin while seating at a free seat near Ten. They were currently in a cafe near the university, where they usually hang out on Fridays.“I don’t think he is...” Mark started. “Yuta hyung canceled on their movie date”“It isn’t a date,” Winwin said curtly.“Then why are you so upset about it?” Kun asked.“Because we already bought the tickets weeks ago! And not only that, he’s been avoiding me for days!” Winwin said frustratedly.“What do you mean he’s been avoiding you?” Ten asked raising a brow.“Ever since this Monday he hasn’t walked me back to my dorm, he hasn’t been bothering me to have dinner with him, he hasn’t initiated skinship with me, heck he hasn’t even sent a single text to me all week!” Winwin said frustratedly.The others were quite shock at his sudden outburst. None of them thought that Yuta could spend an entire week without pestering Winwin. Nor did they expect Winwin, who always said that he hated Yuta’s presence, to be this bothered about it.Finally realizing what he said, Winwin started blushing and tried to avoid everyone’s eye.“Ok, not to be the bearer of bad news but... Yuta hyung just entered the cafe...” Doyoung said.They, Winwin included, all looked at the entrance where Yuta was standing with a boy about their age. Winwin saw Yuta’s hand at the boy’s lower back guiding him to the counter, he then briefly remembers the time when Yuta would try to hold him like that, but Winwin would remove his arm and glare at him, telling him to stop it. He then saw the boy say something to Yuta which made the Japanese laugh, he has never made Yuta laugh before because most of the things that he would tell Yuta are either mean or insulting.He then realizes the pain in his heart, seeing Yuta looking at someone else other than him. When he realizes that he’s been staring at the two for far too long, he dropped his gaze, noticing how the others were looking at him.“Oh hey, guys!” He heard Yuta say. “Mind if we join you?”“Nah, go ahead,” Jaehyun said. Winwin then looked at the two as they sat down.“So... want to introduce us to your friend” Ten started“Oh yeah! Guys this is Jungwoo! We were classmates during high school and now were classmates again!” Yuta said happily. While Jungwoo started giggling. Winwin doesn’t know why, but he decided that he hated Jungwoo’s laugh.“So you guys have been hanging out all week?” Ten asked again.“Yep. We had to make up for lost time”“Hey uhmm didn’t you guys date during senior year?” Johnny asked making Winwin suddenly looked at Yuta with wide eyes.Yuta then met Winwin’s surprised look and got flustered. He honestly didn’t know how to answer that. He didn’t even want to answer that. But apparently, his best friend had other ideas.“Yah we used to date,” Jungwoo said softly. “But we broke up because of how hard it was to keep in contact since our universities were very far from each other. But now...” He trailed off. Jungwoo then noticed Winwin inhale sharply, which made him smirk internally.The rest of the table was looking at them in surprise since Yuta never mentioned an ex-boyfriend before. Yuta was currently blushing as he tried to avoid looking at Winwin, who was staring at him.Winwin couldn’t breathe. They broke up because of the distance of their unis, now they're even in the same class. Is that why Yuta’s been avoiding him? Because he realized that he wanted Jungwoo again? Did he cancel their date because he wanted to go with Jungwoo to the movies instead of him? Winwin was looking at Yuta like a kicked puppy hoping that the other would deny what Jungwoo said or joke saying that he only wanted Winwin like he used to say when other people asked him out. But he got none of that. Yuta was avoiding his eyes and it made Winwin feel even worse.He was gonna lose him. All this time he’s been pushing Yuta away when in reality he only did that because he enjoyed the attention that the older was giving him. He loved the way Yuta would cling onto him despite being pushed. But now... now Yuta had someone who wouldn’t make everything difficult for him. Yuta had someone else now.“Winwin-hyung...” Mark said surprised. This snapped him out of his thoughts and made him look at the one that called his name. Mark was looking at him worriedly. Winwin then asked what he needed.“Hyung... you’re crying,” Mark said slowly making Yuta look at the younger immediately. Winwin was surprised, not noticing that he was crying. He wiped his tears and cautiously looked at his friends who were all looking at him worriedly. Even Yuta looked concerned about him, which made him feel a bit better, knowing that the older still cared for him. All this, however, came crashing down when he saw Jungwoo lean against Yuta with a tiny smirk directed at him. That was it. That was all it took for the waterworks to start flowing again. The others looked shocked again as more tears ran down his face. Which is why he stood up and ran away.Yuta was shocked as he watched the love of his life leave the cafe crying. He was about to follow him when he remembered why the younger was crying.“Dude, what the fuck was that about?” Yuta asked his best friend a bit annoyed. The latter had the gal to smirk as he crossed his arms.“Now why does he seem upset?” Jungwoo asked. “Didn’t he say that he wasn’t interested in you? And didn’t you tell me that he always rejects you?” he asked innocently.This then made the whole table quiet. Because he had a point. Why was Winwin affected? This gave a tiny spark of hope that maybe Winwin had feelings for him too. The rest of the table had realization written all over their faces.“Well??? Are you just going to stand there or??” his best friend smirked at him. That was all it took for Yuta to hug Jungwoo and run out of the door to look for the Chinese. He did hear Ten telling Jungwoo that he liked him. Figured those two devils would get along.—————————————-
Winwin finally made it to the park where Yuta would usually bring him, cliche right? But honestly, this was his comfort place. Even before Jungwoo came along, he would always go to this park and just breathe. He wouldn’t tell this to Yuta of course, the boy would be too flattered and annoy the living hell out of the younger.It then dawned to Winwin that the reason why he went here in the first place was that it reminded him of Yuta. A lot of their memories happened here. Gosh, he really was in love with that idiot. But he took him for granted and now he’s paying the price for it.Winwin was too busy wallowing in self-pity that he didn’t notice someone sitting beside him until said person offered him a handkerchief.“What are you doing here?” Winwin asked, taking the handkerchief and wiping his tears but, still refusing to look at the older.“I should ask you the same question”“Well I asked first.” the Chinese was obviously upset so Yuta decided not to tease him.“Well... I was pretty worried about you” he said with all honesty. This made Winwin scoff.“I'm fine. Go back to Jungwoo.” The younger silently cursed himself for being too obvious but he was too jealous to control his emotions right now. Said jealousy became anger when he hears his hyung laughing.Upon noticing the younger’s glare Yuta stopped laughing, but a fond smile was still plastered on his dumb face. “Winwin-ah are you honestly jealous of Jungwoo?”Winwin only looked away from him which was all the response he needed. Yuta couldn’t stop grinning, this was the cutest he has ever seen the younger! And he never in his life thought that Winwin would ever be jealous because of him.“Winwin-ah, you do know that I’m in love with you, right?”This made Winwin blush and look at the older, which in turn, made Yuta’s heart beat a little faster.“I thought you were. But this week... you kept on ditching me for your ex-boyfriend” the younger said sadly. Yuta sighed.“Winwin-ah, I told you, the reason I’ve been spending time with Jungwoo is because we needed to make up for the lost time.”“You only say that now but soon your gonna fall in love with him again and forget about me,” he said while looking down dejectedly. “Winwin-ah, honestly, you’ve been rejecting me every single day for years. Have I ever gotten tired of you?”“...”“Winwin, look at me,” Yuta said softly.Winwin slowly looked up at his hyung, suddenly noticing just how handsome he really is and just how much he loved the boy. His heart started to beat quickly just like in those damn movies and he started cursing himself for not noticing his feelings earlier and making the older wait for far too long.“Winwin-ah, I love you okay. Nothings gonna change that, not even my ex. And yeah, I have been quite distant from you this week because I was thinking of MAYBE moving on, but...”“WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO MOVE ON? YOU SAID YOU LOVE ME!” Winwin interrupted clearly very upset which made Yuta laugh.“If you were chasing someone for years and they always push you away, wouldn’t you want to move on too? It’s not like I know whether or not I actually have a chance with you. ” Yuta said softly.“But... I just... I’m sorry”“It’s fine,” Yuta said smiling. He then kissed Winwin’s forehead. Making both of their hearts raise.“Yuta hyung” Winwin said after a few minutes of comfortable silence.“Hmm”“I know it took me a long time to notice this, but I really like you too”—————————————————“Oh gosh, this is so weird,” Ten said with clear disgust.“Right? This is so fucking weird.” Johnny agreed“Cmon guys, it’s kinda cute,” Mark said clearly amused by Yuta hugging the living life out of Winwin, while the latter simply read his book clearly enjoying the attention of the older. “You gotta admit, that is W A Y better that Yuta hyung following him around like a lost puppy.”The others then agreed, all of them mentally thanking the heavens that those two FINALLY got together.
