Jungkook slammed the bedroom door open, smiling at Jimin and Taehyung who didn't even bother to look up at the noise. Rude.  He walked into the room, sitting next to Taehyung who was more focused on the game he was playing on his phone. Also rude. "Guys! I have the absolutely greatest idea!" Taehyung finally looked up at him. "You finally decided to give your game collection to me? Great decision." "Nope," Jimin interrupted from where he was resting his head on Taehyung's stomach. "He clearly decided to put himself up for adoption. Also a great decision." "Why do I even bother with you assholes." "Because you love us, duh." Taehyung answered, while Jimin blew him a kiss. Maybe he should have just done this alone instead of asking his two most annoying hyungs. "Anyways, I'm not doing any of that." He resolutely ignored the twin echoes of "shame." His time would come, but revenge could take a backseat for now. This was more important. "Today's father's day, you know what that means?" "You forgot to buy something for your dad and are now panicking because the package would take a long time to deliver if you send anything today?" "Yea– no Jimin it's not– "Hyung." "No Jimin hyung, I already mailed dad his gift, don't worry. But we forgot about someone else." "I already sent mine." Taehyung said curiously, putting the phone away and instead playing with Jungkook's hand. Jimin said the same thing, both of them looking curious about what exactly they were forgetting. "I vote we buy Joon-hyung a gag gift." They stared at him, breaking out into smiles. "Sometimes I think you don't have any brain cells but then you say shit like this." "Only sometimes, Minnie?" Taehyung teased. "Ah right, I mean all the time." Jungkook was going to goddamn slather salt on their desserts, but he could be patient for once. The gift was top priority right now.  Jimin sat up, turning so he could look at both of them. "On a more serious note, we'd have to go out for it since online orders are kind of out of the question now. We got–" He looked at the clock, "four hours before the day is over." "Just say we have to steal Hoseok hyung's collection of bucket hats and go." "And Namjoon hyung's sunglasses," Jungkook butted in.  "And Namjoon hyung's sunglasses," Jimin agreed. "Gotta be as secretive as possible so no one spots us." They all agreed, knowing very well it was a lost cause and they would just have to trust the discretion and politeness of whichever fan spots them.  "So," Taehyung began, fingers drumming the steering wheel, "where to?" "Um." "You didn't think that far, did you?" Jimin asked, craning his neck to look at Jungkook who was fidgeting in the back seat. "I didn't think that far," He admitted. "Maybe...uh, cologne?" "You know how picky Joonie hyung is about perfumes, maybe we can get some stationery. He writes a lot." Jungkook nodded. "That's a good plan Jimin hyung." "Wasn't this supposed to be a prank gift?" Both of them turned towards Taehyung, who stared back with a raised eyebrow. The official plan was a gag gift, but it was understood by all three of them that it was an actual present and they were just too embarrassed to admit something that stupid and uncool. But it was Taehyung, of course he would force their hand and get the details sorted out before it began. The elder liked to avoid complications when he could. "Ah, don't be like that," Jimin laughed. "Hyung's face when he gets a serious gift would be funnier than a joke one, okay?" Park Jimin, master of deception. "Fine. Guess we'll go to the general mall." And with that, he started the car and spoke no more. The first gift shop they entered had a whole shelf dedicated to father's day mugs alone, and they figured that was a good place to start as any. Jungkook was looking through one referencing the iconic Star Wars dialogue– nerdy enough, but not Joon hyung appropriate– when Jimin called out to them. "Look at this," he said gleefully, showing them a garish shiny golden mug that had 'Daddy' printed on it in cursive. "We're not giving him that," Jungkook said firmly. "Oh? And here I thought you wanted the funniest reaction," Taehyung interjected and Jungkook really should have just gone shopping himself but. But, a solo gift would have been even more embarrassing, with Namjoon hyung looking at him with those fond eyes of his. "The rest of the hyungs would never let us live this down, of course we're not giving him this!" Jimin hastily replied, drawing a wide smile from Taehyung. "Ah, you two are so stubborn! Just admit that you're soft for Joon hyung and want to express your gratitude!" "And why are you so stubborn!" Jimin retorted. "Let us pretend to be cool and aloof in peace!" "I think we should decide right now." Jungkook blushed as both of then turned to look at him, but forged on resolutely. "Do we give Namjoon hyung a father's day gift seriously, or play it as a joke?" "Definitely a joke," the oldest of the three answered without a beat. "Can you imagine the embarrassment of actually looking him in the eye and giving him a father's day present of all things, with no pranking involved?" Jungkook nodded in agreement, that being his reasoning behind the whole plan. They stared at Taehyung, the one who had forced them to come clean, awaiting his answer. "Ahh," his hyung whined, "I never said to not do that. I just wanted all three of us to be on the same page. And now that it's been dealt with, let's find the funniest thing we can." They smiled at him, going back to their perusal of the shelves. It took quite a few arguments and a long time to decide on something, but in the fifth shop they visited Jungkook finally settled on a mug that he and his two dumbass hyungs agreed on. Well, mostly. "I still say we should have gotten the DILF one." "Why do you always pick the most questionable designs?" Taehyung sighed from behind the wheel as they drove back. It was nearly eleven o clock, but with the speed Taehyung was driving at, they should be back home in about ten minutes– Hold on a fucking second. "Hyung! Was Joonie hyung at home or at the studio?" Taehyung abruptly pulled the car to the side, both of them turning back to look at him in similar expression of panic. If on the off chance that he was in the studio, it would be cutting it really, really close. Especially when they had to make it back home as soon as possible, because reason. "Do we swing by the apartment first and check?"  "We won't have enough time then Taetae, if he isn't there." "Seokjin hyung," Jungkook whispered, fumbling to unlock his phone. "I'll ask." "Call him, hyung would be busy making dinner." He nodded at Jimin's advice, holding his breath as he put the phone to his ear. A short conversation and some effort in avoiding the older's questions later, they confirmed that their leader was indeed, in his studio and Taehyung quickly turned the car around. "Good thinking, Jungkookie." "Of course, I'm very smart," He bragged jokingly, silently glowing at the praise from Jimin. From the matching smiles he could see in the mirror, his happiness wasn't as secretive as he thought. ( He would swear that all six of his hyungs had some mad telepathic skills, there was no other explanation about how they could always tell what he was thinking. )  "Hyung!" Taehyung hollered as he opened the door.  Namjoon swivelled around in his big, comfortable chair, not even looking the tiniest bit surprised at seeing the three of them. Huh, maybe they barge in his studio too often. "What brings you here so late?" He asked, smiling kindly at them. "We bought you something reaaaaally nice," Jungkook answered as he sat on the armrest, trying to snuggle into his favourite hyung. "Really? Then let's see," Namjoon hyung said, resting a hand on the youngest's back to ensure he wouldn't fall. It was unnecessary, Jungkook mentally huffed, because it only happened to Jimin, but who was he to go around refusing physical contact from Namjoon? They had decided in the car that Taehyung would hand it over, being the best actor, and he did so with a mischievous grin that made it seem like it was nothing more than a joke, helping the maknae line save face. "Open it quickly, hyung!" Jimin interrupted, pouting at how long he was taking on unwrapping. Even Jungkook had stepped down, so he could have both hands free to open the box. "Just tear the wrapper!" "It's a gift from my precious members, I want to preserve it. You know how clumsy I am," the taller laughed. Maybe a bitch teared up, but Jungkook wouldn't admit it even on his deathbed.  "A mug? What's the occasion– oh," he gasped, turning the cup to read the print on it. Dad, aka president of the socks and sandals club. He looked at them incredulously, deep dimples etched in his cheeks from his wide smile. "A father's day gift, really?" "Did you like the joke?" Taehyung asked, voice betraying his anxiousness. Not a very good actor, but understandable. It was a critical question. "It's a very sweet joke," was the reply, and all three of them heaved a sigh of relief at successfully carrying out the whole scheme. "We'll be going now!" They chorused, still happy with the satisfaction of a job well done. "So soon?" "Yeah, it's getting late and we don't want to keep Jin hyung up too much," Jimin explained. "Cause he's old," the youngest stage whispered, drawing out laughs from the rest. Namjoon nodded. "Tell him to not stay up for me, it'll take me some time." "Get some proper rest soon, okay hyungie?" "Of course Jungkook," the rapper promised, fondly ruffling his hair. "Taehyung, Jimin?" "Yes hyung?" "Could you come here?" He opened his arms, gladly accepting all three of them as they went in for a hug. No matter how much they grow in age or height, Namjoon hyung's hug always made them feel small, despite the man really not being that older compared to them. So did Seokjin hyung's, but he was more of a man of warm kisses rather than hugs– just like Hoseok hyung. And Yoongi hyung was a person that permanently carried a vibe of overwhelming comfort and safety, which made up for the lack of blatant physical affection. Namjoon gently kissed the top of their heads, and Jungkook couldn't speak about the other two, but it was taking a lot of self control on his side to not just settle in his hyung's lap and stay there forever. "Get home safely, yeah?" They nodded, shooting him one last smile as they disentangled themselves and made their way towards the door.  "What did the maknaes want yesterday?" Seokjin asked as Namjoon hugged him from behind. Their leader was usually the second one to wake up in the group, and he often kept him company as he made breakfast. Sometimes it was Yoongi who did the cooking– but he usually handled dinner.  "Ah, about that. They actually gave me a father's day gift, can you believe it? It's a mug." "That explains it," Seokjin muttered after a moment of surprise. "Hm?" Namjoon had moved to man the coffee machine, and he shoots Jin a questioning look from there. "Do you know," the elder said with a smile, "I found our– me and you three rappers– favourite pastries in the fridge when I opened it this morning. And the cake box certainly wasn't there last night." Namjoon raised his eyebrows, understanding what the elder was getting at. "And did you know," he asked rhetorically in a similar teasing voice, "my gift was a joke." "Of course," Jin agreed in mock seriousness. "There is no way the kids would do something that they must have considered lame. Nope, not a single chance of it being anything other than a joke." "I have to give them credit for planning and division of duty, they let Taehyung do most of the talking." "Mm, they're growing up. Remember when they tried to send Jungkook to mend the argument between Yoongi and Hoseok, whose straightforwardness made it worse?" "It kind of worked," Namjoon pointed out. "Those two won't argue in front of their favourite kid."  "Agreed," Jin conceded. They paused, each busy with their own task before the vocalist speaks up again. "You're going to use that cup everyday, aren't you?" "Obviously."  Hoseok was the next to walk in, and he didn't even have to ask when he noticed the new mug. One look at the text on it made it quite obvious.  "Jungkook?" "All three of them actually." The maknaes were the last, the 95 line dragging along a sleeping Yoongi, and the fierce blush on their cheeks on seeing the mug was enough to set Seokjin and Hoseok into a laughing fit.
