Jeongyeon sighed. Though the countries were close to each other, it really felt like a long flight from the Philippines to Korea. She felt drained and tired, and all she wanted is to be able to rest and to feel the comfort of a real bed. So as soon as she sees Seungyeon waiting for her by the airport gate, she was relieved.5 years. It has been 5 years since she last set foot in Korea, and now she's back. Even though she missed her life here, she can't deny that her time in the Philippines was really great. She spent 5 years of her life in that country, managing the branch of her father's company that was located there, and she managed to fall in love with the Philippines. The culture was great, and so was the people. She met a lot of people who she would call as friends, some of them also coming from Korea. So she wasn't really alone, and she enjoyed her time there.

The only thing that was missing from that picture was Nayeon.
Nayeon. Jeongyeon winced.

"You okay?" Seungyeon asked, snapping her from her thoughts. She shrugged and nodded her head.

"I'm
fine. Can you please just take me home? I'm just really tired." Jeongyeon replied, and even though Seungyeon knew that something was bothering her younger sister, she knew better than anyone that forcing Jeongyeon to talk wasn't the best thing to do.

"Okay, but can we please get food before we head back?" Seungyeon pleaded, and Jeongyeon just sighed.

"Fine."

The ride was silent. Neither Jeongyeon or Seungyeon have said a word since they got in the car. They had all the time to talk when they got home anyway. Jeongyeon was already back in Korea for good and Seungyeon's not going anywhere soon. But the silence was deafening, and as much as Jeongyeon hated to start conversations, she had to.

"So, how have things been here when I was gone?" Jeongyeon asked and Seungyeon glanced at her quickly, giving her an amused look. She then immediately focused her attention back on the road.

"As if we don't talk about things happening here whenever I visit you. Like I told you every time, everything is great, almost nothing changed." Seungyeon laughed and Jeongyeon shook her head. Seungyeon frequently visited the Philippines and always got to see Jeongyeon so there's nothing to say, really.

"Did you hear anything from... Nayeon?" Jeongyeon hesitated but still asked it anyway. Seungyeon just sighed.

"Jeongyeon, even if I tell you something about her, I think you know more than me. And no, she hasn't reached out to me or any of your old friends." Jeongyeon only nodded. She knew Seungyeon was right. Nayeon was everywhere, she knows that the girl already achieved her dreams. Even though Jeongyeon tried to forget about her, Jeongyeon couldn't stop herself from always keeping up with news about the girl.

Just then, right on perfect timing, they pass by the park where Jeongyeon and Nayeon met when they were kids... and where they last saw each other five years ago. All the memories of their last meeting came back to Jeongyeon.

"When do you leave?" Nayeon could hear the pain in Jeongyeon's voice.

"Tomorrow." Nayeon replied, sadly. Jeongyeon just nodded.

"I'm sorry." Nayeon added, but Jeongyeon just shook her head and smiled weakly.

"Don't be. You have to pursue your dream, Nabongs. That's all you've ever wanted. All your passion and hard work is finally going to pay off. I won't stop you from reaching your dream. I want you to be happy." Jeongyeon said, trying not to tear up. She loved Nayeon, but they both had to leave this place. They need to leave Korea behind. They had to go their separate ways. Nayeon was bound to leave for America to pursue her love of singing and Jeongyeon was bound to leave for the Philippines to help out for her father's company.

"I love you, Jeong. I... I wish the situation was different..." Nayeon trailed off, tears threatening to spill. Jeongyeon wrapped her arms around the older girl and pulled her into a tight hug.

"I love you too, Nabongs. I love you so much. But you know I have to leave too, right? We can't be together... not yet." Jeongyeon was now crying too.

"Maybe someday, you and I can be together, in the same city, doing the things we need to do and love without having to separate." Nayeon said and Jeongyeon weakly smiled.

"I promise you that one day we will see each other again. Maybe we would even bump into each other here." Jeongyeon said and Nayeon looked at her.

"Do you think that will ever be possible?" Nayeon asked her and she sighed.

"I hope so, Nayeon." Jeongyeon said and Nayeon just nodded.

"If that happens, whether you like it or not, I'm not letting you leave again." Nayeon smiled and it made Jeongyeon smile too.

"I won't let you leave too." Jeongyeon told the other girl, and the last thing she remembers from that moment was Nayeon's lips on her own.

After that, the two never talked again. Sure, they had their own mobile phones, and social media was everywhere. But they never reached out to each other. Jeongyeon thought that maybe Nayeon already forgot about her, since the latter has already risen to so much fame. She was everywhere, and Jeongyeon always hears all the news regarding the girl, even about the people Nayeon dated. That's why she tried to forget about the girl, but she found it impossible to.

Jeongyeon was back to reality a few seconds later when she heard a frustrated Seungyeon snapping her fingers at her.

"Earth to Jeongyeon?" Seungyeon asked, clearly annoyed and Jeongyeon huffed.

"What?" Jeongyeon scowled and Seungyeon breathed a sigh of relief.

"I was asking you where you wanted to eat, but you were completely zoned out." Seungeyeon told her younger sister, but Jeongyeon just ignored her. Jeongyeon had her head turned to the back of the car and was looking at the park.

"Can you turn around and drop me at the park?" Jeongyeon looked at Seungyeon and Seungyeon gave her a confusing look.

"Please." Jeongyeon pleaded and Seungyeon just nodded.

"Fine, but we're going out later and you're paying for food." Seungyeon said and Jeeongyeon nodded.

"Deal." Jeongyeon smiled and soon they were going back to the park's direction.

"Why do you want to go here anyways?" Seungyeon asked and Jeongyeon just shrugged.

"Just wanted to see it." Jeongyeon replied.

"Okay, are you sure you'd want me to leave you here?"

"Yeah." Jeongyeon simply replied.

Jeongyeon got off the car and Seungyeon immediately drove away. Jeongyeon made her way to a bench and just sat there.

"God, I missed this place." she uttered.

She looks at her surroundings and sighed. She had so many good memories here since she was a child. This was where she met Nayeon, where they always go to hang, where they go to whenever one of them is feeling down, where they had their first kiss... and it goes on. But this was also the place where they last saw each other, uttering goodbyes and a promise that they will see each other someday.
Someday. When will that happen?

Nayeon was her bestfriend ever since they were kids, it only turned into something more after College, just a few months before they both left, when all the tension and feelings were finally spilled. It was inevitable for them to be together, but they both had to go their separate ways.

After leaving Korea, Nayeon became a very successful singer in America despite the fact that she wasn't from there. People easily fell in love with her. Well, Jeongyeon knew she was easy to love, so it wasn't a surprise to her. She wanted to pursue her passion and be successful there, and she achieved her dreams. On the other hand, Jeongyeon became a very successful manager in the Philippine branch of her family's company. The employees loved her, and she gained valuable experiences, as well as friends and connections all throughout her time there.

They both became successful, and even though it hurt them both back then, she knows it was the right decision for the both of them.

Looking at her surroundings for the last time, she stood up and started to walk away. She needed coffee, she was drained but she just had to go there. It was nice thinking about old memories, good or bad.

She was still deep in her thoughts when a girl suddenly bumps into her and the girl's purse falls on the ground.

"I'm so sorry." The girl apologized while picking up her purse. Jeongyeon froze. She knew that voice, she memorized that voice. It was Nayeon's.

"...Nabongs?" Jeongyeon asked in a whispered tone, but the other girl heard it anyway and immediately looked at the girl in front of her.

"Jeong." She breathed and Jeongyeon gulped. Nayeon was standing in front of her, in the place that she promised would be where they'll see each other again.

Jeongyeon was shocked. But maybe, maybe it was fate. Maybe they were meant to see each other again. To gain closure and move on? Perhaps. To continue what they once had? Maybe.

However, in this very moment, what Jeongyeon could only think of is that - what will happen next?

- end...?
