"Bakugo?" You croaked feebly from under your mountain of blankets, blurrily blinking in a state of befuddlement. "What're you doing here?"The day started strangely, snowballing into an absolute mess of a night. As a result, you'd found yourself surreptitiously tucked into bed, far too early in the evening for your liking. It began with a single cough almost as soon as you woke this morning, building into stifled sneezing by lunch, and finally, the whole package once night had come—with the generous addition of a throbbing headache. When you ultimately caved, you had to fend off relentless—but completely well-meaning—offers from your friends to stay close and take care of you."I'm sure all I need is a bit of rest, and by tomorrow morning I'll have slept it off," you reassured with a weak smile.Absolutely refusing to run the risk of anyone else catching a bug, you whisked yourself to the baths and retired to your room. There you'd stayed for a near two hours already, trying to kip the sick away. You felt guilty for your stubbornness, but you knew you would feel even worse if someone else started to fall under the weather on your account. So when the door swung open just enough for an irascible figure to stride through—albeit sort of awkwardly—you wondered if you were hallucinating."I thought I'd made it clear that I just needed some sleep," you rasped through a groan. The gentle light coming from somewhere in the hallway filtered through and sparsely illuminated his silhouette. You couldn't see his face, but based on the uncomfortable way he stuffed his hands in his pockets, you wondered if maybe he wasn't entirely sure why he was there either. Finally settling on a nonchalant shrug, he clicked his tongue in half-hearted annoyance."You're sick, aren't you?""...Well yeah.""Yeah and, I didn't want to have to suffer through you moping around up here by yourself.""Hey! I'm not moping—" you started."'Sides," a thud—he had kicked the door closed behind him, "aren't you supposed to be able to handle a cold?""You'd think," you seethed bitterly, unhappy with your Quirk's susceptibility to catching such a pathetic germ, "but no.""Then I suppose heat can be a little unbearable for you too, huh?" He asked, masking his involuntary disappointment with a snicker."Yeah but, that is exactly what I need right now." You hummed a little hum and felt your skull rattle, prattling on despite that. "It's not as bad if I'm not alone, I guess."You didn't know what you were saying, suddenly open to the idea of curling up next to the space heater of a boy standing in front of your door. The dizzying daydreams on top of an already dizzy reality shot your diffidence to hell.Listlessly appreciating the underlying intimation, you whipped your hands around in a drowsy 'stop' motion. "But that's not what I meant— that's not the—I'm good sweating it out over here."A beat of silence."By myself."The quiet that followed grew heavy with the weight of whatever you were suffering through. It felt dense, and all you wanted right now was to pass the hell out—or jump into a raging inferno, whichever was easiest. You hadn't noticed that your eyes slid shut, and when you opened them again, Bakugo stood leaning over you. Your vision adjusted to the darkness again, and he seemed to be staring at you expectantly."What are you doing?" You asked with a solicitous drawl."Scoot over.""What?""Scoot. Over.""No," you whined, "You'll get sick.""Please. My immune system could annihilate your immune system."The sound you made was something akin to silverware caught in a garbage disposal, but Bakugo still found your giggle to be stupidly exquisite. You released a prolonged puff of air."Please, don't make me laugh," you groaned, clutching your chest through chokes and chortles. "That's such a dorky thing to brag about."Another 'tch'."It's true, you imbecile.""Whatever, you egg.""Seriously, move the fuck over, or I'll sit on you."
You were beginning to enjoy this.Any other day, when you weren't sick, you would've reasoned you and your quickly beating heart out of such a predicament. Today was its own entity entirely, though, and your lovesick and sick-sick brain decided teasing this impetuous boy was the best idea since sliced bread! You yanked the duvet over your reddened face, and spoke muffled through a small, impish smile."Do it, you coward."You were an absolute fool, challenging Katsuki on his own word. When you felt the mattress dip in more than two places as he neared you, you quickly decided that the congestion was suffocation enough—you did not need bumptious boy on you too. Not right now, anyway.Another dip right next to your head, in between yourself and the wall, and you were sure if you peeked, he'd be successfully caging you in. You spazzed under the covers, letting your arms and legs fly—with dignity—as a last line of defense."Okay, okay, alright fine!" You looked straight up to see a glaring, burning stare that left you far too transfixed for your comfortability. You groaned in defeat, far too tired to argue with someone just as stubborn as you are. Your headache flared, and figured you didn't plan on staying awake any longer anyway so—
What the hell.
Lifting the covers to invite him in, you rolled and burrowed as deep as you could into your pillows.Katsuki leaned back on his knees, stepping backward once to glower at you self-congratulatorily. You didn't miss the tiny 'hmph', either. Before immediately climbing in to bed with you, however, he kicked off his pants—much to your raging embarrassment, thankfully covered by your sickness flush—leaving him in his boxer shorts. You stared a moment longer than you meant to before turning away, hopefully before he saw.Unfortunately for you, he did.You were too busy being embarrassed to notice the smug little smirk break the usual indifferent expression again. He closed the blankets, and pulled them around like an oversized, fluffy cocoon for two. Throwing all inhibitions out the window, you moved closer to him.Heat rolled off of him in droves, and you instantly gravitated toward it; much against your best interests as a highly introverted, yet infatuated being. You blamed your being dizzyingly sick for the sudden lack of regard and boost in confidence.Your head descended upon his shoulder, as you all but threw yourself onto him for that warmth. For warmth, you told yourself. He started slightly, stiffening just a bit despite the fact that he literally asked for this. It took Bakugo a moment to find himself again, and against all things—including his pride—he pulled his arm around your waist. The little sigh that slipped passed your parted lips sounded dangerously close to a desperate mewl and for the first time since he was in preschool, Katsuki damn near spontaneously combusted. You drove your cheek into his chest, deciding that your self-consciousness would be a problem for tomorrow's you. "If I snore or drool, it goes without saying that I will not hesitate to kill you, should you tell anyone.""Don't worry," he snorted, "your secret's safe with me."
