They had warned you to be careful. The Port Mafia is dangerous (what an understatement) with eyes and ears everywhere (also another understatement. Everyone knows even the air around the high risen headquarters whisper eavesdropped secrets to their boss who sits miles and miles above the city.) That was common knowledge shared among those of the underground. They had also told you not to get captured. If you were, the quickest escape would be to shoot yourself before they locked you in the dungeon. It would be a more merciful death than anything the mafia would give. You really should’ve listened while you had the chance. Yet, foolish and overly proud, you hadn’t heeded their advice. You always knew regret would find you young. It’s unfortunate it had to find you like this. Blood spurts from your mouth as gravity crushes the air out of your lungs. It’s honestly surprising. The man before you isn’t much taller, even petite in a sense, yet despite the overpowering weight that seems to crack your bones, he stands as light as feather, unaffected in every way. Through the haze pain brings, you note the glowing outline of red surrounding his looming presence and wonder if you’ve really fucked it up this time. The chains around your beaten body split under the sheer force and fall onto the ground before you’re allowed to breathe again. Trembling for air, you try to hide the fear swallowing your eyes. White teeth flash in the form of a cruel smirk once the glowing red dies down. Clearly, you don’t have him fooled. Which means, the only thing you could take pride in is- “You still haven’t said a word.” Sharp blue irises pierce to the back of your skull as gloved fingers roughly grab your chin; yanking hard till your back extends as far as it can go. “Such endurance is commendable but-“ One of the remaining men murmur against the redhead’s ear, all but shaking as if afraid of an explosive reaction. You can’t help but wonder what’s to come when a sharp shove has you slamming against the back of the chair. Spots dance in your vision before the pain comes threefold. You barely register how the short man curses like a sailor before lighting an expensive cigarette. Grey snakes dance above him, twisting and curling unlike how you’ve ever seen smoke behave before, he grinds his heel against your cut open thigh and leans so close wisps of blown smoke wraps around your ears. “Someone new is coming.” Red bangs fall perfectly around the man’s small face as he tilts his head to draw another drag. “So, I’ll make you a deal.” You involuntarily shiver. Nothing good could come from this. It feels too much like making a deal with the devil. “Tell me what I’m here for,” You audibly gasp when cold metal bites at your neck. A thin line of blood trickles down as it kisses your beating pulse. “and I’ll grant you a fast death.” Finishing his cigarette, the executive pulls back and drops the ashes to the blood-stained ground. “Dazai however…”  Footsteps echo down the stairs. Each one brings a sense of growing sense of unescapable doom till a tall man completely shrouded in black stands at the end. “Doesn’t even understand the concept of ‘mercy’.” Terror turns your blood to ice. You stiffen and try to hide your trembling hands as he twirls the knife between his fingers and barely misses grazing your cheek. “Which is why I can assure you right now,” Almost laughing, the executive pulls away, lips curled sickly sweet. “He won’t be nearly as kind.”
