This was stupid and Bakugou knew it.

He was laying in bed bored out of his mind as he had been almost every night for the past month, and he clicked on the pink app with a groan. He had redownloaded the stupid dating app a few days ago out of boredom (and horniness,) but so far he hadn’t had any luck. He’d hooked up with people using the app a few times in the past, but it had never been anything mind-blowing. He wasn’t expecting much from this. He wasn’t getting very many matches as it was anyway, and when he did get one he wasn’t actually interested enough to message them first, and they seemed to feel the same way as he wasn’t receiving any messages.

He idly swiped through several profiles before his eye caught on a rather attractive man with red hair. He squinted at his screen, tapping through the pictures. Okay, the guy was hot. He stopped for a little longer on a picture that was taken in a mirror, a grin on the guys face as he showed off his very fit body. He scrolled down to look at the self-summary - a very eloquent “Disaster Gay”. He snorted at that and swiped right, figuring what the hell? It wasn’t like anything was gonna happen anyway-- he doubted they’d even match.

He was surprised to see apparently the other had already liked him, and they were a match. He tapped on the profile again, looking over it closely. Kirishima, his profile said, was in a pretty close radius. He considered messaging this guy first; he wouldn’t mind hooking up with him at all.

As he opened the messages he was surprised once again as a message popped before he had started to type.

Kirishima:

Hey! Your pictures are nice, do you work out?

He reads over the message carefully, trying to decide what to say back, but before he can type a response there’s another message.

Kirishima:

That sounded weird lol sorry I’m not creepy I swear I was just asking because I’m going to school to be a physical trainer and you look like you’re in good shape which I admire!

Bakugou let a small smirk slide across his face. Apparently disaster gay was accurate. But there was something almost endearing about the frantic response.

Bakugou:

Oh, cool. Yeah, I work out pretty often, and clearly, you do too. Your pictures weren’t too bad either.

Kirishima

: Haha thank you I try so what brings you to a good old dating app

Bakugou lets out a sigh, rolling over in bed trying to decide how forward he should be. He’d put that he was looking for hookups in his search preferences, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if he wasn’t hesitant, and he didn’t really care either way.

Bakugou:

Boredom mostly. That and wanting to get laid.

Kirishima:

Lmao well you’re honest that’s a good trait to have

Bakugou:

One of my many shining qualities

Kirishima:

Well I think so but I’m sure you have lots more what’s your major?

Bakugou furrowed his brow at this message. Was the guy trying to get to know him? He really just wanted a hookup, but he supposed he could humor Kirishima, and see where it went.

Bakugou:

I’m an English major.

Kirishima:

Oh that’s so cool! I’m super dense about stuff like that I’ve always been more of an athlete than a student but I try my best at both

Bakugou:

What sort of sports do you do?

He found himself genuinely curious about the answer. He’d ran track in high school, and worked out a lot since around his freshman year. It had been a way to get out a lot of the anger he had back then, and he’d wanted to look as masculine as possible because dysphoria was a bitch. Both of those things still clung to him, but they were a bit better now, especially since he was away from his mother.

Kirishima:

I do boxing! I’m actually at my school on a scholarship for that mostly lol

Bakugou:

That’s cool, I guess. I’m at mine on a lot of different academic scholarships.

He wasn’t goign to divulge any real information about himself, but maybe because Kirishima seemed so open honest he felt like he could do the same. Well, as open and honest as he got.

Kirishima:

So you’re like really smart then? That’s so awesome man I know it’s probably a lot of hard work my friend is premed and he’s smart but he’s pretty much always studying

Bakugou:

Yeah, I guess. I thought about premed since I was good at science but I like English better.

Kirishima:

Yeah that’s awesome! Like I said lmao I’m not very good at academics but I do my best I really think it’s awesome that you’re so into it though

Bakugou couldn’t remember the last time he’d texted anyone this much in one sitting, which was probably kind of pathetic, but he found he was actually enjoying talking to Kirishima.

Kirishima:

Well I should really sleep since I have an 8 AM  tomorrow but I’d like to take you out on a date or something sometime soon if that’s okay?

Normally Bakugou would have shot a date down with no hesitation, but Kirishima seemed to be easy to get along with. If he wanted to get into his pants then a date wasn’t a bad way to do it.

Bakugou:

Okay. When?

Kirishima:

Does tomorrow night work? Like for dinner at 6:30 at that little diner on fourth and main?

Bakugou:

Sure. I’ll see you then.

Bakugou smiled slightly, locking his phone and tossing it to the side. He was almost...excited to meet Kirishima. Which was dumb, but it was probably just him being excited at the prospect of maybe getting laid by someone really hot. That was all it was.

He turned over to look at his phone. It was only 10:30, but he figured he might as well sleep.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

8 AM classes were the devil. If Kirishima could tell his past self never to do one thing, it would be taking an 8 AM. But there he was, sitting in the classroom entirely too tired and only half paying attention. He tried, he really did. To keep his scholarship he had to keep his grades up, but god meds only helped so much with the focus in his gen-eds.

Not that he was fantastic at some of his major-related classes. The sciences were hard, but Shinsou usually helped him study. Plus, he cared a lot more about those than English.

Although maybe he’d have to take a slight interest in English if anything happened with Bakugou. Thinking about the date he had set for that night made him smile, the excitement he’d felt last night returning to him the more he thought about it.

Bakugou was attractive, and he was excited to get to know him better. Kirishima had never had much luck on dating apps before usually because people didn’t message him back, and he didn’t usually match with guys as attractive as Bakugou.

Kirishima pulled out his phone, checked to see if he had any messages, and sighing when he didn’t. He knew Bakugou was probably still asleep considering most people didn’t get up this early unless they were obligated to. He put his phone away and tried to focus on the lecture for the rest of class.

After a while, class finally ended and he walked out feeling a little fried and a lot annoyed that he had been assigned a paper. He pulled out his phone again to check for a message, but still, there was nothing. Sighing he opened the app, deciding to message Bakugou first.

Kirishima:

Good morning!

He started walking back to his dorm, pocketing his phone and trying to put it out of his mind.

It wasn’t working.

Kirishima pulled his phone out, opening the app again to see if he’d gotten a message, though he hadn’t felt his phone vibrate. Bakugou still hadn’t responded.

He pouted slightly before opening his texts to ask Mina to come to hang out with him at the Starbucks on campus. He would go crazy if he went back to his dorm with nothing to do. If she didn’t respond, he could always go work out to get his mind off of it. He needed to fit his work out in the day somewhere anyway, but he wanted someone to talk to.

Thankfully she responded. Kirishima veered his path to Starbucks and pocketed his phone once again. It wasn’t far from where he was, so it didn’t take long to arrive.

He walked up to the counter, giving his order with a smile, his name, and thanks  Sitting down at a table he pulled out his phone, opening a few different social media apps while he waited on Mina.

Kirishima startled slightly when Mina slammed her hands down on the table and greeted him. “Hey, nerd,” she chirped.

“Hey, Mina,” he said, grinning.

“What’s up?” She asked as she sat down across from him.

“Not much, I—“ he was cut off by his phone buzzing on the table, and he immediately scrambled to pick it up to see if it was a message from Bakugou.

Bakugou:

Morning.

He grinned down at his phone for a second before he heard Mina clear her throat.

“Who’s that?” She asked, giving him a very knowing look.

“Um…” Kirishima was a little embarrassed to admit that he was talking to someone on a dating app, and he

knew

Mina would tease him relentlessly.

“Who is he?” She asked. He opened his mouth to answer, but to his momentary relief, he heard his name called from the counter.

“I’ll be right back,” he said, scurrying off to the sounds of her protests. He grabbed his green tea frappe and quickly texted Bakugou back.

Kirishima:

How are you this morning? :)

He sat back down across from Mina, not meeting her expectant gaze.

“It’s a guy from a dating app,” he mumbled, covering his face as Mina burst out laughing.

“Kirishima, oh my god. Nothing good is gonna come from that. I don’t care how hot he is, it’s a

dating app

. The only thing those are good for is getting validation that you’re attractive, which you don’t really need because you're

hot

.”

“Okay! Yeah! You’re probably right! But what if you’re not?” He protested.

Mina gave him a look. He let out an exasperated sigh.

“Fine, whatever, he’s really hot and he’s actually been messaging me, so,” Kirishima said, taking a drink of his frappe. “And I might have asked him on a date tonight…” he added so quietly he hoped she didn’t hear.

She did.

She laughed again, shaking her head. “Okay, so then it’s a hookup thing,” she said as her laughter died down.

Kirishima blushed, opening his mouth to protest before shutting it again, remembering that he was pretty sure he saw something about hookups in Bakugou’s profile.

“Maybe—-“ Mina laughed interrupting him again, “But maybe it’s not! I mean, I didn’t ask him to

hookup

, I asked him to

go out

, and he did say yes!” He said defensively.

Mina shook her head. “Whatever you need to tell yourself hon, I’m just glad you’re getting laid. It’s been too long for you,” she teased. He blushed, pulling out his phone to check it once again.

Bakugou:

I’m working on a couple of papers. I don’t have class today.

What about you?

Kirishima:

Nice! I actually got assigned a paper in English today not really looking forward to that lol and I’m hanging out with a friend right now though so sorry if my responses are a little slower

When he looked back up Mina was once again giving him a very expectant look.

“I would like to see it,” she said. She held out her hand, fully expecting Kirishima to hand it over.

He sputtered for a second before relenting. Pulling up Bakugou’s profile, he placed his phone in her hand.

She tapped through the few pictures Bakugou had and let out a hum of approval.

“Okay, yeah, he’s pretty hot. I hope the date goes well,” she said, still smirking. Kirishima let out a huff and looked out the window, taking another drink of his frappe.

“Whatever,” he mumbled, “So what’s up with you? Are you still talking to that Tsu girl?” He asked, trying to change the subject.

“Yeah,” she said, a genuine smile coming onto her face, “I really like her.”

“Aw, Mina. That’s great!” he sighed, relieved they seemed to have dropped the topic of his embarrassing love life. They chatted for a while longer until Mina had to go to class.

When she left, Kirishima realized he hadn’t checked his phone in a while. The screen lit up to show Bakugou’s reply.

Bakugou:

That’s fine like I said I’m working on papers.

Kirishima:

Do you like writing?

He looked at his phone waiting for a response but realized it probably wouldn’t be that quick and started to put it away. However, to his delight, it buzzed in his hand.

Bakugou:

Well duh, I’m an English Major.

He laughed slightly heading back to his dorm so he could change for the gym.

Kirishima:

Yeah that makes sense lol but do you like writing anything other than papers for class though?

Bakugou:

Sometimes. I mainly stick to analytical stuff.

Kirishima:

That’s cool! Maybe I can read something you’ve written sometime but it’ll probably be way over my head lol

Bakugou:

Maybe.

Kirishima:

:D

How are the papers going?

Bakugou:

Well you’re distracting, so I’m barely working on them.

Kirishima:

Oh sorry lol

Bakugou:

I didn’t say I minded it.

Kirishima:

:D

When Kirishima made it back to his dorm, he was grinning at his phone like an idiot. He quickly gathered his things up for the gym and headed out before looking back down to his phone.

Kirishima:

Well I’m gonna go work out brb

—————-

Bakugou had spent the last hour trying to figure out what he wanted to wear for the date. He ended up picking a simple pair of black jeans, boots, and a black button up open over a red shirt.

He and Kirishima had been texting off and on all day and he was actually genuinely excited for the date. And maybe a little nervous. Not that he’d ever admit that out loud.

Bakugou gave himself a once over in the mirror, fiddling with an earring. He checked his phone for the time. He figured he’d probably better start walking if he wanted to get to the restaurant on time. Taking a deep breath, he headed out of his dorm.

It wasn’t a horrible walk, but his nerves were getting worse the closer he got, his hand moving up to mess with his earring.

When he got there, he could see that he was the first one. He decided to just wait on the bench outside so they could be seated together.

Bakugou checked his phone for what felt like the thousandth time. He was early, so it made sense that Kirishima wasn’t there yet. It still made him nervous.

“Hey!” He heard, and his head snapped up to see Kirishima. Shit. He was more attractive in person. Bakugou stood up, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“Hey,” he said. They stared at each other for a minute before Bakugou realized it was a little awkward. “Oh, uh, we should head in,” he said nodding towards the door.

Kirishima grinned. “Sure, let’s go.”

They walked in, greeted by a waitress who took them to a booth. The place was pretty empty as Bakugou looked around, but he didn’t mind that. It was an old fashioned place, but not in a fake way like a theme restaurant, it looked like it genuinely hadn’t been updated since the 60s.

“Have you ever been here?” Kirishima asked, making Bakugou look back to him.

“Oh, no. I assumed you had, or you probably wouldn’t have wanted to come here,” he said.

Kirishima ducked his head slightly with a smile. “Yeah, I really like this place, it’s cheap and good,” he said with a shrug.

Bakugou picked up his menu looking over the choices for a second. “What would you suggest?” He asked, sounding bored as he rested his chin in his hand, looking at Kirishima.

“Oh! Well, they have really good burgers, and their chicken is good too. But honestly, the whole menu is pretty good,” Kirishima said brightly, leaning over to point things out on the menu.

Bakugou smirked slightly. He found the enthusiasm cute, rather than annoying as he might have in any other situation.

“Alright, I’ll just get whatever you do,” he said shutting his menu with a shrug.

The waitress came over quickly, taking their orders and leaving with a smile aimed at Kirishima.

“So, how was your day?” Kirishima asked, taking a drink of his water.

Bakugou shrugged. “Decent. I finished a couple of papers, but you already knew that. How about you?”

Kirishima nodded, he never really seemed to

stop

smiling. “My day was good! I mean, I hate 8 AMs, but I hung out with a friend after and got to look forward to going out with you, so it was good. Even better now that I’m actually here,” he said with a grin.

Bakugou rolled his eyes a little. “So you’re this cheesy and enthusiastic in real life too, huh,” he said, but there was a smile playing at his lips.

Kirishima actually blushed and let out an embarrassed laugh. “Sorry. I know I can be a little much,” he said.

“That’s not what I meant. If it annoyed me, I wouldn’t have come on the date,” Bakugou said. Kirishima let out another laugh, still blushing and not meeting Bakugou's eye.

“Well, I’m glad you came,” he said glancing back up at him finally with a shy smile. Bakugou’s chest did something funny and he couldn’t help but return the soft smile with one of his own.

“Yeah, me too,” he said.

Before either could say anything else, the waitress was back with their food. Kirishima thanked her as she left and turned his grin back to Bakugou.

The date continued with idle chatter and eating, and Bakugou found himself becoming very comfortable with Kirishima. He was easy to talk to, and because Bakugou didn’t have to say much, which was nice, it took the pressure off of him and gave him less opportunity to fuck up and say something unintentionally mean.

It was...actually really nice.

Bakugou had always had a hard time with people, especially when he was younger and his anger issues were worse, but this felt easy.

Eventually, they finished their food and the date conversation seemed to naturally taper out as they argued over who should be paying.

“I’ve got it. I did ask you out after all,” Kirishima grinned as he snatched the check from Bakugou.

Bakugou watched him make his way up to the register, unabashedly checking him out as he did.

He stood up, grabbing his things and heading to the door to meet Kirishima there with a small smile.

“So, this was fun!” Kirishima said as they walked out of the diner.

“You wanna head over to my place?” Bakugou asked, his intention clear, obviously taking Kirishima a little by surprise if his blush was anything to go off of. There was a moment of dread as Bakugou thought he’d just ruined everything, but then Kirishima smiled, looking excited.

“Yeah, yeah, I’d like that a lot.”

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

As it turned out, Kirishima had a car. It also turned out they went to the same damn school. As confused and surprised as they both were at the realization, it didn’t really matter that they’d never noticed each other in the halls. If anything, it was almost laughable considering the current circumstances.

They ended up at Bakugou’s dorm pretty quickly, and it took some effort to make it to the room calmly. As soon as the door clicked shut behind them, Bakugou was pressing Kirishima up against the cool wood with a hasty kiss, grabbing him by the hips as he brought their bodies closer together. He could taste the remnants of their dinner on Kirishima's tongue, but couldn’t find it in himself to mind.

He registered the feeling of fingers tangling themselves in his hair slowly, and he let his own hands wander up under the hem of Kirishima’s shirt. Jesus he was

ripped.

Bakugou let out an appreciative hum as he continued to slide his palms up the other man’s warm torso, nipping at his lip as the kiss grew more heated. He slotted his thigh between Kirishima’s legs, almost teasing in the way he rubbed against him.

Kirishima let out a low moan, breaking away from the kiss to tilt his head back slightly. Bakugou took the opportunity to start kissing his neck, leaving marks here and there, absolutely reveling in the little whines and moans his lips were pulling from Kirishima’s throat.

“Bed. Now,” Kirishima suggested breathlessly, sounding a bit impatient as he huffed. Bakugou smirked, and quickly complied, pulling away from the other man, who promptly pulled off his shirt and practically ran over to the bed. Bakugou followed him, equally as eager, hesitating a moment before pulling off his own shirt. He left his binder on for the moment, trying not to feel incredibly self-conscious about it, focusing more on the look in Kirishima’s eyes.

He straddled Kirishima, bringing their lips back together for another heated kiss, grinding down against him, letting out a breathy moan. Kirishima grabbed his hips, pulling their bodies impossibly closer as they found a steady rhythm in the dark of the apartment.

It wasn’t enough.

Bakugou let out a small frustrated noise before adjusting his position so he could get rid of Kirishima’s pants. The other man seemed to get the message as he quickly shimmied out of his jeans and boxers, tossing them to the side and allowing Bakugou a moment to admire him.

Kirishima was larger than average and thick, and Bakugou bit his lip, anticipation making him feel hot all over. He wrapped a hand around the other man’s cock, giving it a few even strokes, making him inhale sharply, his hands fisting in the sheets as he closed his eyes. Bakugou had always like this part, watching someone come apart under his touch. It made him feel powerful.

Bakugou took his hand away— earning a whine from Kirishima— to start undoing his own jeans, kicking them off, along with his boxers. He didn’t let himself wait long enough to be self-conscious, pulling Kirishima in for a heated kiss, running a hand over his toned stomach up to his defined chest, showing his admiration with a low groan.

“I want you to go down on me,” Bakugou said, his voice rough as he pulled away from the kiss adjusting his position to give Kirishima access. He looked up at Kirishima expectantly, ignoring how hot his face felt.

Kirishima looked at him with wide eyes for a second before moving in, putting his hands tentatively on Bakugou's thighs, spreading them a little wider. He shivered as Kirishima kissed up the inside of his thigh, letting his head tilt back and shutting his eyes.

Kirishima seemed slightly cautious as he ran his tongue flat over his clit, making Bakugou let out a hum of approval. He repeated the motion, earning a soft moan. That seemed to be all the encouragement Kirishima needed to get into it more, growing more enthusiastic and listening to Bakugou’s voice. He was a little messy, a little uncertain, but damn if it didn’t feel amazing. He kept licking his clit in different strokes for a while, eventually moving his tongue down to his cunt, pressing in.

“Fuck,” Bakugou moaned, his hand tangling in Kirishima’s hair, his hips grinding down against his mouth. Kirishima redoubled his efforts, fucking him with his tongue the best he could as Bakugou let out a string of breathy moans.

Kirishima slipped a finger in next to his tongue, causing Bakugou to arch just barely, shudders running up his spine. He looked down, the sight of Kirishima between his legs with hungry eyes absolutely intoxicating, making a pleasured jolt run up his spine when Kirishima moved up again. He gasped as he moved his tongue back up to his clit, slipping a second thick finger inside of him, moving them slowly, curving them in a way that sent sparks up Bakugou’s spine with each stroke of his walls. He bit his lip muffling his moan, his grip tightening in Kirishima’s hair as his thighs shook slightly.

Bakugou rocked his hips in time with Kirishima’s thrusting fingers, getting a bit closer to the edge with every lap of his tongue. He pushed his head away from him just as it was too much, and he thought his thighs would give out and he wouldn’t be able to hold back, his breathing heavy as he looked at Kirishima’s eager expression. His chin was wet with drool and his breath a little heavy and hot against his skin.

“Get on your back,” Bakugou commanded, his voice breathy and low, trying not to sound as undone as he felt. Kirishima quickly complied, making Bakugou gasp as his fingers slipped out and he laid back on the bed.

Bakugou quickly leaned over, pulling out a condom and lube from his bedside table. He wasted no time rolling the condom onto Kirishima himself, going slow and giving him a few teasing strokes for good measure, enjoying the gasp it elicited from him, before spreading some lube over him with a firmer hand, now more intent on his goal.

He took a second to line himself up with Kirishima’s cock before sinking down in one swift, smooth motion, Kirishima’s hands coming up to grip his hips so hard they might bruise as they both let out breathless, relieved moans. Bakugou gave himself a second to adjust and get at a good angle, a hand on Kirishima’s chest to steady himself. The stretch was just right, filling him up perfectly and pressing in all the right spots, and he bit his lip. He ground down slightly, pushing himself a bit and relishing in the stretch letting out a breathy moan as Kirishima’s grip tightened on his hips.

Slowly he lifted himself up before dropping back down with a moan as Kirishima bucked his hips up to meet the motion. “

Fuck

,” he whispered, repeating the movement several times, the sound of Kirishima moaning beneath him only spurring him on.

They found a steady rhythm, their bodies moving together nearly in perfect sync. Bakugou moved his free hand down, rubbing his clit as he neared climax, letting out a low whine. He bit his lip hard, grinding down against Kirishima’s thrusts, which were getting steadily more erratic, hitting him just right.

“Holy shit,” Kirishima groaned, thrusting up particularly hard, finally driving Bakugou over the edge. He let the waves of his orgasm pull him into incoherency, calling out Kirishima's name as his body tensed up and tightened around him. Kirishima followed close behind him, coming with a shout, his hands gripping Bakugou's hips hard before he went completely lax, grip much gentler now.

Bakugou got off of Kirishima shakily, resisting the urge to simply flop over next to him and fall asleep. He got up onto wobbly legs, pulling his binder off and finding a shirt before falling back into the bed.

Normally he kicked people out after he slept with them, but his post-orgasm tired brain didn’t really seem to deem that necessary as he got under the covers next to Kirishima, who he was pretty sure was already sleeping. After a moment or two, he felt two arms wrap around him, and in his half-asleep state, he saw no harm and simply snuggled closer.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Kirishima bolted upright in the bed, torn from his deep sleep by denim jeans smacking him in the face.

“Wha,” he mumbled, looking around disoriented and startled. He looked across the room to see a very angry looking Bakugou with his arms crossed over his chest before he was promptly hit again with his shirt and boxers.

He gathered his clothes and quickly started putting them on, completely lost as to why Bakugou looked so angry.

He rolled out of the bed, putting on his pants, and stood there for a second, staring at the angry man across the room. “Um,” he said smartly, his brow furrowed in confusion. “Do you want to go get breakfast?” He tried, but it did little to ease the harsh expression he was faced with.

“Get out,” Bakugou said bluntly, still looking pissed. Kirishima felt a pang in his chest, looking at Bakugou like a kicked puppy. There wasn’t much room to argue there.

“Um…alright,” he said before hurrying out of the dorm room, wondering what he could have possibly done wrong.

He barely made it out of the building before he had his phone out, the screen flashing as it dialed Mina’s number and he put it to his ear hopefully. The phone rang a couple times before she picked up with a groggy sigh. “What do you want, Kiri?”

“Mina, I fucked up,” he said, his voice sounding distressed even to his own ears.

“Wait, what? What happened?” She asked seeming to be more awake now, her voice concerned.

“So, I had that date last night, and it all went really well, and we went back to his place— turns out he goes to UA too, by the way— and we slept together, and it was really great… or I thought it was? I fell asleep after we had sex, and then when I woke up this morning he seemed really angry and he kicked me out, and I have no idea why,” he said with a whine, still wracking his brain for what he did wrong.

“It sounds like… he’s just an asshole,” Mina said slowly.

“No, because we had fun on the date and I— oh god— Mina, what if it was because I was shitty in bed?” He asked feeling embarrassment and self-loathing creep up on him. He’d probably just been too tired and dissatisfied to kick Kirishima until the morning after he fell asleep.

Mina lets out a sigh on the other line. “Kiri, I’m sure it’s not that. He’s probably just an asshole who wanted to hook up with you and move on. I’m sorry, babe, guys suck,” she said sympathetically.

Kirishima bit his lip and let out a heavy sigh. He had really liked Bakugou so far. He’d wanted there to be more dates like that, but either Mina was right, or he was just

that

bad of a lay. What was worse was the thought that maybe he had liked the sex, but disliked his personality enough that he didn’t even want to sleep together again. Or that he had a terrible personality

and

he was a bad lay.

“I can hear you spiraling,” Mina said, pulling him back out of his thoughts. She sighed. “Look, I’m really sorry, but it’s gonna be okay. It’s not like a guy from a dating app matters all that much anyway,” she said, obviously trying to console him.

He huffed. “Yeah, okay, you’re probably right,” he grumbled.

“Okay, if you need me to kick his ass, I will. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”

“Talk to you later,” he sighed. He ended the call and pocketed his phone, chewing on his lip nervously.

He pulled his phone back out opening his messages with Bakugou, looking at them with a furrowed brow. He knew he should probably just leave it, but he also knew if he didn’t at least get closure about whatever just happened, it would drive him crazy.

Kirishima:

Hey… I’m sorry for whatever I did to upset you. I really liked our date and I was hoping we’d be having another one...but I understand if you don’t feel the same way.

He sighed heavily after it sent. God, he probably sounded pathetic. This was so stupid. He made his way into his dorm building. He needed to shower and try and forget about the bitter taste the night before was leaving at the back of his tongue.

He tried. He really tried, but he was bad at letting things go. He just couldn’t stop wondering why Bakugou had seemed so into him, why he had seemed like he was enjoying himself on the date, and when they’d slept together, only to snap at him and kick him out in the morning. It didn’t make any sense. It felt unfair.

When he got out of the shower, he checked his phone and to his total astonishment, he had a single message from Bakugou.

Bakugou:

You didn’t do anything.

Kirishima furrowed his brow, even more, confused by the message. He stared at his screen for at least three solid minutes trying to figure out how to respond.

Kirishima:

Then was I just that bad in bed?

He regretted the message as soon as he sent it, but he couldn’t stop thinking about it. He’d never been with a trans guy before Bakugou, and he was sure he’d fucked it up somehow. He didn’t even want to think about it being something to do with his personality, because that was

definitely

an option.

Bakugou:

No, dumbass. I’m just that bad at emotions. I don’t usually let people fall asleep with me and I didn’t know how to handle it.

Whatever Kirishima has been expecting, it wasn’t

that.

He stared at his phone again blinking rapidly, trying to figure out how to adequately respond.

Kirishima:

So… you’re not mad at me then?

Bakugou:

No.

Kirishima couldn’t help but let out a relieved sigh. Sure, Bakugou hadn’t handled this well, but he could forgive it because of the honesty. He knew it was dumb to be so wrapped up in this since he barely knew Bakugou, but he couldn’t help himself. He liked him, he wanted to get to know him better, he wanted to see him again. He felt…almost hopeful.

Kirishima:

Does that mean you’d maybe want to see me again?

————-

Bakugou was glad he didn’t have a class, or he probably wouldn’t have gone. He was laying in bed listening to music, trying not to have an anxiety attack about everything that was happening. It was stupid because he hardly even knew Kirishima, and he was already being stupid about everything. He should have just not responded to him, he should have just been okay with a nice fuck, that’s all he’d wanted to begin with anyway. But the thing was, he wanted to see Kirishima again. He hated that.

He looked at the last message Kirishima had sent, still struggling with a good answer. He was trying to keep things honest without being too blunt. His therapist would be having a field day with him consciously trying to communicate in a healthy way. He sighed, scowling at his phone.

Bakugou:

Yes.

Kirishima:

On another date?

Bakugou let a groan rubbing his face. He didn’t want to be someone’s

boyfriend

, that was way too much. But he did want to hang out with Kirishima more, and maybe fuck him, too. He didn’t really think he could just say he wanted to be fuck buddies though, Kirishima didn’t seem the type to want that sort of thing.

Bakugou:

Maybe. I don’t know. I don’t really do relationships.

Kirishima:

We don’t have to put any labels on it! We can just hang out and do whatever you’re comfortable with in regards to that and see where it goes

Bakugou looked at the screen. Could he really have lucked out this much? Finding someone he enjoyed the company of, someone who was willing to respect his weird boundaries… it didn’t seem likely. Still, he wanted to hope.

Bakugou:

Maybe.

Kirishima:

Maybe isn’t bad I can handle a maybe :)

Would you want to do something tomorrow night?

Bakugou:

Maybe. What would you want to do?

Kirishima:

Whatever you want! I picked what we did last time so you can pick this time :)

Bakugou furrowed his brow. There was no way someone this considerate and easily forgiving wanted to be around him. He wanted to just toss his phone aside and not answer anymore, he wanted to leave it all alone and not deal with the chance of getting hurt. That’s why he didn’t do people, too much of an opportunity for getting hurt. That’s why he’d pushed people away for so long, but really all that had done was leave him with a stack of accompaniments and a heart full of loneliness. At least that’s what his therapist had told him. He was stubborn and didn’t like to listen to her, but… If he knew anything, Bakugou knew he was lonely.

He knew she’d tell him not to shut someone out when they were already trying harder than most people would to get to know him. He knew she’d be right. He hated that.

Bakugou:

Fine. We can hang out at my dorm or something.

Kirishima:

:D

—————

Texting between Kirishima and Bakugou seemed to be a near constant over the next day and a half leading up to their next...date? Kirishima wasn’t sure what to call it since Bakugou didn’t want to do a relationship. It didn’t feel like he just wanted to be friends though, so it was hard to tell what this was. In any case, he was excited to hang out with Bakugou.

He’d been trying to get to know Bakugou better through text, but he wasn’t exactly the best conversationalist. It was mostly Kirishima texting him random things about his day, but Bakugou didn’t seem to mind it. At least he hoped he hadn’t. Though, he had a feeling that if Bakugou didn’t want to talk to him he just wouldn’t respond.

He knocked on the door of the dorm room, his face heating up slightly thinking about what he’d been doing last time he was there. His mind was quickly taken out of those thoughts as he grinned at Bakugou when he opened the door for him. He was wearing a pair of joggers and a big hoodie, significantly more dressed down than he had been for their date. It was cute.

“Hey,” he said stepping into the dorm room as Bakugou moved out of the way for him.

“Hey,” Bakugou said, fiddling with his earring, not meeting Kirishima’s eye.

“So um, what do you want to do?” Kirishima asked feeling suddenly very self-conscious that Bakugou didn’t actually want him there. He didn’t think Bakugou was the type to lie to make someone feel better, but still, he couldn’t help but feel a little anxiety about it.

“Honestly I have no fucking clue. I don’t really hang out with people,” Bakugou said bluntly with a shrug. Kirishima let out a huffy little laugh, appreciating Bakugou's honesty as always.

“That’s okay, I do. We can always watch a movie? Or we can just hang out and talk. Next time we should hang out at my dorm, I have a switch and we could play Mario Kart or Smash Bros or something,” he said taking a seat on Bakugou's bed.

Bakugou simply looked at him with a raised brow and crossed arms. He took a seat next to Kirishima stiffly. “Alright, what do you want to talk about then?” He asked. Kirishima smiled softly, almost fond. It was painfully clear Bakugou hadn’t spent a lot of time making friends, and he really wondered why that was.

“Well, before when we were texting you said you were writing another paper, what was it about?” He asked, hoping to get Bakugou talking a little himself.

“It was about Hemingway, a textual analysis of ‘The Old Man and the Sea.’ Pretty easy stuff, just tedious,” he said with a shrug.

“I’ve never read that, was it good?” Kirishima asked getting more comfortable on the bed, leaning back into more of a lounging position.

“It wasn’t my favorite, but I liked it well enough. What about you? You said you were working out before, how was that?”

Kirishima grinned running a hand through his hair. “It was good, I maxed out on lifting and did some cardio. I’ll probably need to spend a little more time in there tomorrow, but it was an okay work out overall,” he said. Bakugou leaned back, seeming to relax a little bit more next to him. “We should work out some time together!” Kirishima suggested enthusiastically, knocking his shoulder against Bakugou's.

The blonde simply rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Maybe, I haven’t really had much time to work out lately,” he said.

Kirishima let out a hum of acknowledgment, “Yeah, I get that. I don’t have a huge class load, but I have a couple friends who do and they never have time to do anything. It sucks, but that’s kind of how college is, I guess. I feel like I’m always writing a paper; I can’t even imagine what it must be like to

major

in something that’s basically all papers,” he said with a light laugh.

“Yeah, well, I like writing papers,” Bakugou said with a shrug.

“Hah, nerd,” Kirishima teased.

Bakugou scowled at him, “Oh fuck off,” he said shoving Kirishima’s shoulder.

Kirishima only grinned and grabbed Bakugou's hand pulling him so he was flush against his chest. Bakugou tensed up immediately, and Kirishima dropped his hand. “Sorry, was that not okay?” He asked, a look of concern crossing his features. He was a naturally physical person, even with friends, so he hadn’t thought anything of it, but he didn’t want to make Bakugou uncomfortable.

Bakugou seemed to force himself to relax against Kirishima with a sigh. “It’s… fine,” he said, a slight scowl on his face.

“Are you sure?” Kirishima asked with the good intentions, but it seemed only to encourage the irritable look on Bakugou’s face.

“Yeah dumbass, this is fine,” he said, grabbing one of Kirishima's arms and pulling it over himself as if to prove a point. “Keep talking, or whatever,” Bakugou grumbled, resting his cheek on Kirishima’s chest. Kirishima was confused, but he supposed he couldn’t complain. He wrapped his arm a little more tightly around Bakugou and relaxed with a soft smile.

Kirishima kept talking, as requested, with Bakugou adding his two cents whenever he felt like it, and it was comfortable. Maybe it shouldn’t have been, but it was.

It was so comfortable, in fact, that they both fell asleep like that: cheek to chest, eyes gently closed, somehow just… Content.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Bakugou took a second to wake up, feeling comfortable in the warm embrace around him. His eyes snapped open at the realization that he was in someone’s arms. He looked up to see Kirishima, still sleeping soundly, and he let himself slowly relax again. He hardly remembered falling asleep last night, but apparently he had done so wrapped up in Kirishima's strong arms. It was all really weird, whatever this thing was between the two of them. There was a small part of him that wanted to panic all over again and kick Kirishima out because the whole thing was so weird and foreign, but he managed to simply wriggle out of Kirishima's hold. He quickly slipped his hoodie off and put his binder on before putting on a simple black t-shirt. He rubbed his eyes and cursed under his breath. He’d forgotten to take out his contacts last night. He did that probably an unhealthy amount, but what was done was done. He supposed he should just wear his glasses for that day to give his eyes a break, and he went about taking his contacts out and putting his glasses on. He hated how they looked, so much in fact he’d gone without them for days at a time simply squinting at everyone and everything before he’d gotten contacts. When Bakugou turned around, he saw Kirishima was awake, propping his head up lazily on one hand, and smiling at him with something like fondness in his eyes. “Nice glasses,” he said, sleep still clinging to his voice. Bakugou simply scowled at him. “Shut up,” he grumbled picking up his phone (which was almost dead) to check the time. He didn’t have class for another few hours, but he wasn’t sure about Kirishima. He glanced at the other man who was still looking at him with a little smile on his face. “If you don’t have class we could always go to breakfast or something,” Kirishima suggested, answering Bakugous question before he could ask it. Bakugou huffed. “Fine, just give me like ten minutes to charge my phone a little bit,” he said, reaching over Kirishima to grab the charger by his bed. Kirishima took this as an opportunity to pull him back into his embrace so Bakugou was partially laying on top of his chest. Bakugou tensed up again, but relaxed a bit quicker this time around, huffing as he tentatively wrapped his arms around Kirishima in return. He hadn’t ever really had this sort of interaction, so it was weird and he didn’t exactly know how to feel about it. It was...nice he supposed, he felt comfortable and almost safe in Kirishima’s arms, but it was so goddamn foreign. Most of the physical contact he’d had growing up had been in the form of hitting. No, he’d never been seriously beaten, but his mom had certainly had a way of discipline that wasn’t healthy. It had taken him a long time to realize how unhealthy. Sometimes she’d try and give him more nurturing touches, but he was always so angry at her he’d hated them and recoiled. This was...different. He could maybe even get used to this, and that could be dangerous territory. “What are you thinking about?” Kirishima asked, a look of slight concern on his face, no doubt it was in regards to the scowl that Bakugou hadn’t noticed he had on his face. “Nothing…” he grumbled not meeting Kirishima’s eye. “If you’re not comfortable with this, I can move. We don’t have to do cuddle for my sake,” Kirishima said starting to move away from him. Bakugou instinctively tightened his grip around Kirishima so he couldn’t get away, feeling a blush creep up on his face at the action. He scoffed. “If I didn’t want to do something you’d know...it’s fine… it’s nice, or whatever,” he mumbled, the last part almost inaudible. He could feel his face heat up as Kirishima relaxed, looking at with a soft smile as he wrapped his arms around him again. “So any idea where you want to go for breakfast?” Kirishima asked, his hand slowly rubbing circles on Bakugou’s back, which made him melt into the embrace further, genuinely relaxing into it as he shut his eyes. “I don’t care, just somewhere that has coffee,” he said with a small shrug. Kirishima let out a thoughtful hum. “We can go to Starbucks, if you want. They have decent breakfast sandwiches, and that’s usually where I go if I’m getting coffee on campus,” he said. Bakugou just nodded with a small hum, feeling stupidly comfortable right where he was, even though his glasses were pressing into his face a bit from the way he was resting against Kirishima’s chest. They laid in comfortable silence for a while, Kirishima’s hand still moving in circles against Bakugou's back. Eventually Bakugou reached to check his phone, deeming that it was at a high enough percentage to go to breakfast. It probably wouldn’t be very long anyway. He let out a small groan, pulling away from Kirishima and sitting up. “Let’s go.” Kirishima sat up with a relaxed smile on his face before he leaned in to give Bakugou a gentle kiss. It took him by surprise, but he kissed back easily, deciding that it was probably fine for them to kiss, it didn’t have to mean anything. When Kirishima pulled away, he looked at Bakugou with a huge grin which did things to Bakugou’s heart that he didn’t really understand. He didn’t want to analyze any of what he was feeling at the moment, so he rolled his eyes turning away to get off the bed and head for the door, his face warmer than he wanted to admit. Kirishima followed him, grabbing his hand as they walked out the door, lacing their fingers together with a smile. Bakugou almost pulled his hand away, but he decided, what the hell, that was probably fine too. Besides, it was sort of nice. ————— Kirishima hadn’t expected for there to be many people at Starbucks, but the place was buzzing with activity. He wasn’t even sure they’d be able to find seats once they ordered, but he supposed they could always order and leave. He looked around for seats as they entered, his eye-catching on a familiar shade of pink hair. His eyes widened as he saw several of his friends sitting together, including Mina, who he had not had the chance to tell about recent developments with Bakugou. This was going to be...interesting. He tried to ignore them, simply walking up to the counter to order before he heard a familiar voice call his name. He cringed slightly, glancing at Bakugou who was looking over to see who had called for him. He let go of Bakugou's hand, rubbing the back of his neck with a nervous smile as he waved at Mina who was glancing between him and Bakugou with a very confused look. “Those are some of my friends… I should probably go say hi. You can come too if you want!” He said trying not to show how nervous the idea of Bakugou meeting his friends made him, especially Mina who was under the impression that he was just an asshole that had been a one night stand. Bakugou looked at him with a furrowed brow for a second before shrugging “Whatever,” he said, shoving his hands in his pockets, and following Kirishima over to his friends. Mina was there, as well as Kaminari and Sero. He supposed it could have been worse, the whole group of his friends could have been there. He figured three should be manageable. Even if it was these three. “Hey guys, what’s up?” He asked with a grin, pushing his nerves down and pointedly ignoring the look Mina was giving him. “Holy shit— Angry English Major boy?” Kaminari said, looking straight past Kirishima, and right at Bakugou, who looked confused and somewhat annoyed. Kirishima's eyes widened and looked frantically between the two. “Wait— this is angry English Major boy?” Sero interjected looking highly amused. Mina let out a laugh, covering her mouth to stifle it. “Excuse me?” Bakugou growled. Kirishima's eyes darted back and forth between Bakugou and Kaminari. His friend had talked with great amusement over the last year about another student in his creative writing class who had a bit of a temper and often got heated in class discussions about literature, and never ever let people read his work unless it was for a grade, and even then it was a hit or miss day by day. Kirishima didn’t even know how to react to finding out that that was Bakugou. “Um…” Kirishima said rubbing his neck nervously. “Dude— oh my god— what? Kirishima, are you dating angry English Major boy?” Kaminari asked looking far too excited. Kirishima tensed up not liking where this was going. “We aren’t dating,” Bakugou said curtly. Kirishima had to admit, it stung, but he tried not to think about it. He liked Bakugou even if things were a little complicated. “Seriously, how do you know angry English Major boy though?” Kaminari pressed, ignoring Bakugou entirely. “Stop calling me that,” Bakugou spat, looking angrier by the second. “Okay, okay, everybody calm down for a second,” Kirishima said trying to ease the tension that was building, mostly on Bakugou’s end. “Well, you wouldn’t tell me anything other than your major when we talked in class! What else am I supposed to call you?” Kaminari protested, not seeming to care that Bakugou looked visibly angry. “You’re not supposed to call me anything,” Bakugou snapped. “Well, if you’re hanging out with one of our best friends we’ll probably have to call you something,” Mina said with a smile, giving a pointed look at Kirishima. “And obviously you don’t like angry English Major boy,” Sero added, getting a laugh out of Kaminari. Bakugou looked absolutely livid. “Shut the hell up. I don’t have to tell you idiots anything.”   Kirishima put a hand on Bakugou’s shoulder, and he tensed under the touch. “Dude, come on, they’re my friends, just calm down.” Bakugou glared at him for a second before deflating a bit. He crossed his arms, still scowling. “Whatever,” he scoffed looking away. Kirishima relaxed slightly, fairly certain that he’d calmed the situation a bit. “This is my...friend, Bakugou,” Kirishima said, somewhat uncertain on what to say they were. Bakugou still looked pissed, but he’d calmed back down to his fairly common only slightly irritated state. Mina cut Kaminari or Sero off from saying anything by extending her hand, “I think we all maybe got off on the wrong foot, I’m Mina,” she said with a bright smile. Bakugou looked at her hand for a second before rolling his eyes and shaking it. Kirishima let out a small sigh relaxing a bit. Conflict avoided. “Well, um, we actually came to get breakfast, so we’ll talk to you guys later,” Kirishima said, nodding towards the counter where they’d yet to put in their orders. He didn’t want to take a chance that someone would say something and piss Bakugou off again. Kaminari and Sero weren’t exactly the most tactful people, especially not when they were together. Kirishima took Bakugou’s hand without thinking about it, pulling him towards the counter. He could feel his phone buzzing in his pocket, no texts doubt from Mina, but he ignored them giving Bakugou a soft smile. They ordered, grabbing their drinks and food before they went to sit outside where it was less crowded, and Kirishima’s friends were out of earshot. “Sorry, my friends can all be a little bit...much,” Kirishima said with a nervous laugh. Bakugou scoffed, “Yeah, I can see that. Would have never guessed you were friends with the blonde one, he’s annoying.” “He’s not bad when you get to know him, I think that’s true of a lot of people,” Kirishima said as they took a seat at a small two-person table, “I think you’d probably get along with everyone after a while,” he said thoughtfully. Bakugou let out a huff. “Maybe,” he said sounding unconvinced. Kirishima smiled at him softly, taking his hand from across the table. Bakugou looked at him oddly for a second, but didn’t say anything about it. Instead he let out a huff “God damn it, this means he’s going to bother me even more in class now, doesn’t it?” Kirishima let out a laugh, and Bakugou gave him a small smirk in return. Kirishima was going to hurt himself with this and he knew it. Bakugou didn’t want a boyfriend, and here Kirishima was acting like that's exactly what he was. Then again, Bakugou wasn’t stopping him, in fact he seemed to like and reciprocate everything Kirishima had been doing. It was all kind of confusing, but maybe...maybe it would be worth it.
