Drop loves and loves and loves chestnuts. She especially enjoyed the ones cooked perfectly over an open flame. One of the many who travelled into her domain had brought them once, they had been a farmer who'd made a large trade of crops with another who had grown them. On the way home from the trade, tragedy had struck him. Lost as he was, the farmer stayed positive and had truly believed he'd go home with the chestnuts for his daughter.Drop had loved them so much, she'd wanted to keep them. She'd been greedy and almost tried to keep the farmer with her. He'd been nice, he would talk with her as she led him around her labyrinth despite her never replying. It was forbidden to talk to humans. Every night he’d offer her chestnuts and pray for freedom. She hadn’t want to let him go.Everyone who got lost within her domain didn’t have a home anymore, she’d wanted him to stay with her. Always questioning why he couldn’t of just stayed with her. His daughter- Drop doubts she's still around. People with families and homes never got lost within her domains.Drop had been so alone for so long, a lost one. A bit ironic considering her duty was to guide lost souls. Truly, what kind of deity gets lost within their own domain?Drop could. She had never left her own world, simply stuck there but unfailingly she’d lead each lost soul to freedom, yet had never left, always alone.Lost within her own creations.Unable to even speak with the many lost souls who’d travel through her paths. She had felt greedy enough want to curse the kind farmer, simply because she was lonely. She had wanted to curse him with the sins of talking with a deity. She had wanted to talk with him.She-She wanted to, so badly. But she couldn’t and she didn’t.The shadows of her failures, of her last fuck up had been following her too heavily.Talking with humans was banned for a reason so Drop pushed the thought from her mind. She had led the kind farmer to freedom, watching as the chestnuts left with him. His memory of this would be gone within seconds, he’d never pray and offer her chestnuts again. As soon as he left, it had made Drop numb, she’d sit alone within her domain for years and years until another got lost within her domain. She wished and wished they’d stay.Drop hated being alone but it was her fate.No one would stay with her.No one would ever remember her.It was the fate of the deity of Labyrinths and Confusions.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The Villa was a place for godly beings to come together, a deity can only enter with an invitation. Every 89 years a letter it sent, inviting a selected few to visit. It was only a year away, she couldn't wait. Lumi counted down the days, anticipating the day's arrival. There wasn't any other deities around their age within the Villa. Most deities came with their own domain, they would be born within it. Unable to leave until they truly gain conciousness. Then their true journey would begin. For many years deities would do their duties and listen to prayers.Being a deity was said to be a lonely existences but Lumi couldn't understand it. She'd been in the Villa her whole life, surrounded by so many, Lumi had been born there. Not that she was created without a domain, she did have one. Her's was simply hidden in plain sight. Her domain with inside of her.It was a messy, wonderful, place within her soul. Lumi loved it, her domain truly felt like home. There was nothing as comfortable as there.Lumi knew the Villa as well as she knew the back of her hand, all too used to exploring it but every so often she'd find unexplored corners. They made her so excited.New things were interesting, Lumi couldn't wait until the Villa's celebration arrived. Celebrations weren't a big thing in the world of deities, maybe for Gods? But they weren't at that level. It was said 1 in 1,000,000 deities would become a God. Which was total bullshit. She'd asked Vex, the Villa God. They had laughed and said there wasn't even that many deities to begin with.Deities didn't have the power to hold their own celebrations and Gods rarely took the time to interact with 'lesser beginning' so Vex's Villa Get Together was very famous.Well, Vex was famous but she thinks their back is going to go out any day now.Her peepaw was that old.Playing pranks on them was a favourite of her's to past time. For a God, Vex was very lax and didn't seem to mind Lumi's disrespect like other Gods would of.Perhaps it was because Vex had practically raised Lumi. Most deities with the same infinity as her wouldn't get picked up by a God and would end up having to fend for themselves. Lumi had been told most died. But oh, that was the life a deity of Trickery and Mischief.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Vex tends to let their favouritism win out more often than not. There's no one to stop them and it's not truly doing any harm, Vex just liked to collect deities. They loved finding all the interesting ones from the outcasts of the god realm to the most loved within. Vex wanted to have them all.Vex was a God, and within the realm of Deities, Vex was the most powerful being there.Gods often didn't bother with Deities but Vex was a bit different, deities interested them more than any of the celebrations the Gods would host. They spent more time in the realm of the Deities than the one of the Gods, it left them a minor outcast in the God realm but it didn't change their standing. Vex is and always will be a powerful God.No one opposed to Gods besides another God. In a realm that most Gods wouldn't dare to enter, Vex was the most powerful being and they were aware of it.Vex was free to collect as many deities as they wished. They wouldn't lie and say they didn't favour deities of Wisdom and Knowledge. They were their favourite types of deities, even if they were known as the "basic" ones throughout the God realm, it didn't hinder Vex's intrest. They'd slowly been collecting. Drawing them in the Villa. Not just deities of Wisdom and Knowledge. No, Vex had been collecting a whole array. Some would leave, some would stay. Slowly slowly Vex could feel the Villa filling up.Perhaps it was only for fun and their own satisfaction. Or maybe, they did crave the chaos of so many brought together, maybe they wanted their companionship.Or maybe Vex couldn't even feel those wants anymore, could a God be so human?Well, Vex did used to be a young deity themselves, and deities were closer to humanity than Gods will ever be.Oh right, it's a bit of a secret of theirs, they used to be a deity of Wisdom and Knowledge.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
A small time god of the sea. That's the response he'd give whenever asked, "who are you?"Not that anyone asked him.It was true- to a degree. There was no other sea god, it was just him.He alone was the ruler of the seas. There used to be another, but the world was cruel. He didn't get to have the fights other deities would go through to earn their place among their brethren. He didn't get their war for succession to ascend to godhood.Instead, the world spoke to him, it'd cry how the sea was too important! His life as a deity was short, perhaps it could be described as one of the only times he was truly free, perhaps it was why he ended up the way he was. When a god of the sea's life came to an end, a sea deity would be born a decade beforehand. Those few years would be the only time a ruler of the sea would truly experience having a family. At the start of their life and the end.How cruel.Gods can't die!Lies. Lies. Lies.Gods die. Deities. Human's die. Animal's die.Everything would die and one day Earth will follow.Arsonist resented the former Sea God just as much as he held affection for his predecessor. He'd been raised by her for only a few years before the other had set him free to roam around the world of deities, telling him to enjoy his freedom. The other Gods hadn't been happy with that, believing Arsonist had no need to go into a lower world, but those years had been some of the best he'd ever experienced. The world of the Gods had endless restrictions and expectations. They chained him down. Shoved him in a little cave and told him to do his job as the God of the sea.Sea Gods were different from the others, they were chosen by the creator, used to keep the sea under control, expected to keep to clean and save it from the humans.Save the sea from the fucking disgusting pollution they never stopped producing. Save all the little critters living within the waters. Save the fish! Save the squids! Save the whales! Save the humans from drowning! Why couldn't he just drowned the humans? It was endless, taxing, and downright boring.Arsonist hated the world's creator. His own name, gifted by the previous Sea God who'd never been given a name, went against their existence.Arsonist /ˈɑːs(ə)nɪst/ noun / a person who commits arson.Someone who welds fire. He'd been fascinated with fire since he first saw it in the human realm, before he even knew the true meaning of his name.In a small town, a fire festival had been going on. Eagerly he’d pushed his mask down, blending in and joined the human crowd. He wanted to get a closer look at the brilliant light that was referred to as fire. Cylinders holding flames were all over the street with small groups huddling around. As soon as he got close to one, his skin would begin to steam, and boil uncomfortably. He wanted to touch it so badly. So, he did.It was a stupid choice. He didn’t regret it, all he could think about was the vivid bright colours that would drift amongst the flame, so very bright and addictive to look at. He’d lost his whole left hand and forearm as a result of the little experiment and almost had his freedom cut.It took almost 2 weeks for his arm to grow back, it’d sizzle every time he tried to heal himself. He thought he could handle it but the Sea God hadn’t been impressed when they saw the damage on their monthly calls, appearing before him instantly. It had freaked Arsonist out when the other had processed to shove their hand into his chest. The salt water forcefully gushing into him, it was painful. The power laced behind it too much for him.Slowly it regrew his arm back to normal. This arm held the lifeforce of his predecessor. It was his most precious treasure and powerful weapon. He’d been living for not even a 10th of the other Sea God, who in turn, had accumulated a great abundance of power. Sea God’s had one of the longest life spans for a God. Unable to die before another is born. When he’d ascended and been sealed into the cave, the last thing he saw was the other Sea God fall into the sea with a splash, a light akin to lightning had appeared and struck her down. The storm had gone on for days, the sea wild and uncontrollable but waters cleaner than ever, filled with so much energy that left the sea life thriving. He hated every moment. They celebrated the other’s death, greedy in the luxuries she had left behind while Arsonist was locked away to mourn. Mourning his only family, mourning his freedom and the friends he’d made. He’d been stuck in the cave watching over the seas for centuries.Bitter and alone, the world’s voice who never listened as his only company. He would say he’s surprised he hadn’t gone crazy yet but he’d been made for solitude, he’s life purpose was to live in this cave and take care of the sea. He wasn’t allowed to have desires and feelings. It didn’t matter that the fading memories of other young deities would make his heart clench and how sometimes all he could think about was freedom, about revenge. The way he thoughts went against the very existence of his life. The way he craved freedom so badly, the way he wanted to be greedy and collect whatever interested him. None of it mattered because he wasn't allowed to have desires, he was a God.but he wasn't like the others who lived happily, while he was here alone.A God in name, not power. He wished he could just simply be a deity Storms and the Sea.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Torch grew up with endless siblings.Raised by their God, their ruler. It was suffocating, manipulation in every interaction.Everyone was so beautiful, it was written in their golden blood. She wondered and wondered why weren't their actions weren't ever as beautiful as their appearance.Always questioning; why their beauty was only skin deep?Eventually Torch realized that beauty and kindness was not intertwined. She realized apparence had nothing to do with personality.A while ago, she'd sneaked out of her God's domain, believing the people outside would be nicer. The people outside were worst than her siblings. They were hungry for her power. They wanted her beauty. They wanted and wanted but it was never an exchange, never given anything for free.Torch didn't like the outside world.Apparence had nothing to do with personality. Torch was beginning to think there wasn't a single deity that didn't greed for power and breathe manipulation.Torch just realised that the outside world was worst than home.At least she was protected in her room. She could look into her gem all day and no one would care. Her siblings had their own desires, it was care they cared for another. Torch was easy to be forgotten. It wasn't just beauty that they were in charge with, it was more than that. They were supposed to govern over friendship as well but Torch had never experienced a single true friendship in her life. She'd been living for at least a century, studying and trying to be the best. Torch did what she could to make friends with her siblings, but they'd only spare her the time of day if she had something of use. Rarely it was an exchange. On most days she'd stare into her gem, watching all the humans she blessed. She envied their friendships. The way they spent time together willingly and would smile so easily.Torch wanted that, wanted a friend.Sometimes, she'd pretend she was with the humans. She'd pretend that they were her friends. It made her feel less alone.Torch was almost always surrounded by others, her siblings were literally endless. It was stupid that she felt alone. They were the biggest population of deities, they were born as fast as they died.It wasn't often their domains grew beyond the size of the small gem embedded within their body.Torch didn't want to be faded and forgotten. She'd seen her siblings die before. Their gems would lose colour over days and it'd crumble and fade away into nothing, their bodies followed. Her gem was beautiful and one of the few things she held dear. She wanted it to watch it grow, to watch it glow, she waned to see it gain life. She didn't want it to fade away. She didn't want to die. Se didn't want to be just another forgotten deity of Beauty and Friendship.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
They talk about her like she's a God.Slowly, decade by decade it became more and more ridiculous.IceQueen has always just been a deity, just like everyone else, but the stronger she became the more they look at her. Some would worship her, as if they don't have their own worshippers. Some would be jealous, staring at her with eyes full of envy. Some are wary, some in awe.It was tiresome, everyone knew her.No.Everyone knew of her.Everyone had expectations for her. They didn't truly know her.No one did anymore.IceQueen used to have her own friends, deities that knew her, deities that she knew.Being their friend had made her want to hold them close to her, but they weren't like her who was satisfied with her castle, happy to live on her mountain, so she let them go. IceQueen didn't follow them.Koko wouldn't- couldn't, settle down. They were looking for something precious to them, always moving desperately trying to find it. IceQueen had wished them the best on their journey, she regrets it now. Maybe if she had agreed to travel with Koko, they wouldn't be gone now. They wouldn't have been killed by the Gods. She doesn't know what Koko did, but it doesn't matter. IceQueen would of been on her side. It's too late now. Koko is gone. One of the few she had, was gone. There was never going to be another letter from Koko. IceQueen was never going to get another tea rating, never going to watch Koko play with her powers to make stories again.Kova had wanted to explore the world more, wanted to see how other deities made art. She especially enjoyed seeing the process of watching a painting be put together. She was happy to help and hear the stories of others. Far too nice and gullible, IceQueen had needed to save her too many times, but she still trusted Kova to stay safe. She was strong but then Kova disappeared. IceQueen spent years looking and looking, desperately trying to find her. It didn't make sense for Kova to leave, but it did- Some part of IceQueen wonders if her friend had simply ascended to Godhood. Kova had always been powerful, but so had Koko, so had she.IceQueen had been powerful but it was clear now that she was weak.Living in her castle, alone.Making ice sculpture after ice sculpture. She would pour her power into them, pour it into the very foundation of her castle, letting it sap away her life-force. Forcing her domain to grow and encase the castle completely, swallowing it. She hadn't shut her domain in decades, one of the few comforts she got but also one of the worst punishments she could give herself.IceQueen's sculptures were another guilty pleasures, each made from her power. She would trade them off for stories, as if the words of a story could give her the warmth of life again, as if she could replicate the feeling of when she still had her friends. After they were gone IceQueen hadn't found it in herself to leave her castle. Not after mistaking some random deity as Koko. Not after turning and expecting Kova to be there.Leaving the castle hurt, so she barricaded herself within the walls of ice.Spending all day making art, honing her powers.IceQueen was so angry that she became numb, expression frosty as her heart frozen over. She had lost the passion that drove her, that drove a deity of Literature and Art.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Robin had nothing against the Villa, it was a beautiful domain. Big enough to explore for days, sometimes he still comes across a room he'd never seen before. Not too surprising considering it was ever changing. The Villa was home and he'd always be thankful for Vex.That didn't mean he didn't want to leave though. There was still so much he wanted and needed to do, things he couldn't do stuck within the Villa. She knew it wasn't literally trapped within it but she also was.He could leave through the entrance whenever, there was nothing to keep him in. Gaining entrance again would be harder, but leaving was easy.Vex was too nice, they'd let anyone who wanted to leave, leave without any repercussions. They were so different from the Gods Robin has met. It didn't feel like they were a God somedays. The Gods want him dead.It doesn't matter that it was an accident. They don't care for the reason, only the action. He knocked a few humans around and next thing he knows he's on the Gods death list.It doesn't matter that the humans were at fault. Not to them.Robin will never understand how they care more for humans than deities. Why were deities seen as insects but humans were microorganisms they don't give a shit about. Insects were to be exterminated.Vex had swooped in to save them, but hadn't been fast enough to stop the first strike. The mark- no branding- of the Gods had been burnt into him.Every time he'd release his power, it might as well be an alarm bell of his location. Not only would it bring the Gods to him, it'd tell the world exactly who his enemy was, exactly who was hunting him.Vex Villa was his only safe heaven, but it became stifling within years.Robin was used to visiting places like the Villa, but he wasn't used to not being able to leave. Lumi made it better, so did Lyell and Vex.It didn't stop the feeling that would bubble out of him every time he woke up. The desperate feeling to leave. He wanted to see his friends again. He still needed to show the other deities how badass he was. There was so much he wanted to do, he had so many plans before the Gods forcefully cut it short.Robin spent his time eating the library up.Book after book would be finished in hours, she'd spend almost all of her time within the dusty shelfs. Lumi would come for them eventually, wanting to discuss something or do something. More often than not he'd indulge the other. To this day, he still doesn't regret committing the sin of injuring a human, nor the taboo of entering the human realm. The Gods may hate him. They were going to fall to him one day.Once they did, he'd be free and never again would he be forced to hide. Visiting the Villa would be on his terms, not because he needed their protection.Being caught was so shameful, especially for a deity of Wisdom and Knowledge
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Koko felt hallow. They always did, it just appeared one day but it's been there for so long that they might as well have been born with it.A part of them would always be empty, yearning for a missing piece. It was just lost. All Koko had to do was find it.Sometimes the ache within them was painful, never physically, but it'll leave them breathless and feeling like they took a wrong step. It was always after they'd see someone crying within their dreams.Dreams were rare, but all of them would include the crying deity.Koko didn't know them.
Koko knew them.
Maybe they were a hint, a sign, a warning, a premonition.Maybe they had to do with their missing memories.Maybe they were the reason for the holes in her memories.Koko would find them one day.All they wanted was answers. What were they missing? What happened to their memoires?Who is that deity?Deities weren't like humans, they weren't supposed to forget.Koko had been a strong deity, it made no sense that their memory would be like swiss cheese. They had noticed no new holes in their memory now, but Koko wasn't sure if that was because they were away from the cause or because of their ascension.Their joke of an ascension.Koko hadn't even become a God, despite having more power than the current God which governed over their field. They were on the edge of becoming a God of the Sun, one of the strongest to exist, a step above their current stage.Being the God of the Sun would have given them the power to know what was wrong with them, who was haunting their dreams.A minor issue with that plan.Whatever was wrong with them, whatever left them feeling empty, whatever they were missing, had caused the ascension to malfunction.Koko was no God.They were an error in the matrix.A mistake. One that the Gods wanted gone.Koko was the single Demi-God to exist.
"A sin!"
"Immoral!"
"Taboo!"
The Gods had screamed in outrage. They tried to eradicate them.Entering the Deity Realm on a warpath, the Gods fought Koko in a deadly battle. They didn't stop until they were certain Koko was dead. The battle left irreversible damage to the landscape. If only Koko had stayed a simple deity of Light and Creativity.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The butterflies were unsettled, grumpy and fluttering around sporadically, which was also probably the after affects of the poison.Mero sympathized with them. She was just as uprooted as them.No one knew the details but a huge fight had occurred nearby. The reason? The Gods. They'd come down to their Realm causing a storm.Whatever deity had the guts to fight back, they had her respect- and annoyance. That fight had almost split her home in half. Only missing them by half a dozen trees. Not that the damage was harmless. It uprooted the more dangerous plants around. Plants that she's allergic to, not to mention the poisonous side of them. The ground had split open and the gas had oozed out in a dark murky mist that slowly completely covered the area. On the other side of town there had been a minor flood, some still lost their home. Her family had been one of the few to quickly respond and figure out a cure for the mist. They were given some sweet blessings in response, it should of been great. Her family got fame and favors, their home needed some rebuilding and would soon become a tourist spot- more business! Expect, Mero kept getting worst. She didn't heal like the others.Mero had to leave.Mero couldn't adapt to the mist.Mero was allergic.Mero fucking wanted to scream. How unfair. She was being sent away from home for her own safety, she hated it.No more familyNo siblings, no more parents, no more turkeys, no chickens, no snakes, no dogs, no bees, no nothing! No more farm.No more home.Mero didn't want to be sent away but she didn't get a choice. She was allergic to this specific poison, her domain falling apart, unable to fight it.At least her allergy was less embarrassing than being allergic to mushrooms. He brother was a minor laughing stock for being allergic despite coming from their family.Family like theirs was rare. All deities are formed by the creator and with their innate domain.Domains could change over time, growing with the deity but large changes? That was unusual, It signified ruin or fortune. That was a universal truth for all deities, it was simply hard for some deities to notice.Like deities of Labyrinths and Confusions, they were one of the more dangerous deities.Agents were sent down to control them by The Gods. They never liked that anyone other than them had power. The God of Beauty and Friendship even frequencies the Realm of deities to keep any deities that govern over Beauty and Friendship in check.Mero found it disgusting. It made it unusual for large groups of the same governing deity to gather freely.Thankfully, her family was nothing like that, while their group is considered big, it wasn't outrageous and they were a family.Together they'd experiment with their powers. She loved it so much, using her powers always brought forth such a big thrill. At the end of the day, Mero loved them more than she loved being a deity of Flora and Fauna.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Lyell grew up having to constantly be on survival mood. There was never any time he got to relax, his domain hadn't been strong enough to protect him.He was prey, he didn't get the luxury of not being on the look out. Especially if he wanted to keep what little he had collected. He didn't have any power, stuck at the bottom of the food chain.Lyell grew up in the Realm of deities before The Gods monopolized it.The Realm used to have so little order, but they had been free.He grew up and climbed the hierarchy, finding his place at the top.It was so long ago, but the memories never faded. Now Lyell lived differently, now his memories were buried under the many stories of deities dying by the whims of Gods.He knew of their lives. He knew of those trapped away, those killed and even the ones enslaved. He knew what it was like to be subjected by a God.Lyell watched as the Realm shifted and reformed over and over again. The Gods altering it as they wished.Lyell wished there was a way to lock them out.Deities couldn't enter the Realm of The Gods but they could enter the Realm of Deities whenever they wanted, they could wreak havoc without punishment. They could commit genocide, and not a single being with power would say a thing, wouldn't lift a finger. One of the first victims to fall to The Gods was Lyell's own friend.Everyone feared them and The Gods weren't an exception.Any Deity of Winter and Death was hunted down and executed.Lyell's friend governed over Winter and Death. They were struck down.He was there that day.He watched as the other deity was struct down, as some egoistic God laughed, believing him harmless. The God truly thought they were merciful by leaving him alive. He took one of their precious feathers. It was a key to the Realm of The Gods. It was an opportunity.Lyell would of been a fool if he let it slip past his fingers and being a fool wasn't very common for a Deity of Wisdom and Knowledge.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
They communicated by dreams.Never meeting up and always hiding away.Lyn thought it was stupid. But history proved them wrong. When they believed it was over. When they had finally come together. When they suffered another devastating tragedy."Strength in numbers" would never be true for them. The Gods were stronger. Stronger than they'd ever be.The Gods hunted them down.Lyn has never seen a God, never been attacked by one.Their friends weren't so lucky, fortune seemed to always be against them despite their ability to govern it.Others believed that any taken away by The Gods were killed.Dead.Lyn thinks they're wrong. They were called the taken ones for a reason. The Gods weren't merciful. The Gods weren't gracious. The Gods weren't benevolent. The Gods were greedy. The God's were volatile. The Gods were selfish. They want to control every Realm and Lyn has never been stupid.Despite the power every God holds, they'd need an army to take over the Underworld Realm. The Realm of the Deities was considered child play. The Gods were always toying with them, slowly hunting down those with value and spontaneously killing the others. Yet some of the others were merely being watched and controlled. They didn't want to destroy the Deity Realm, no they wanted to control it and take over.Any being with power got in the way of that, was a protentional obstacle that they wanted gone.Lyn's friends were one of them, but Lyn themselves? They had flown under the radar. They were alive and they were going to make The Gods regret ever touching the Realm of Deities. It is their home and The Gods have no place here.Lyn would do anything to keep the others safe, would make a deal with the devil to protect what was theirs. The taken ones were Lyn's although to The Gods, they were just a tasty treat. Eager for their power, for Lyn's power but Lyn was smart, they would get back all the others. The gods wouldn't win.Lyn knew the truth and they would win. They swore it as a deity of Fortune and Dreams.
