----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
In the days following the Cleansing and the events that transpired during it, everyone was on edge. It was quiet- Silence echoed around the SMP, and there were only the smallest of words being exchanged as everyone returned to their main teams- Subz, out of the corner of his eye, spotted Clownpiece and Branzy walking, hand in hand, into Clownpiece’s circus, not even wanting to entertain the thought of what they could be doing, shuddering and grimacing. He continued to walk alongside the river’s edge, being sure to not let silver boots get too muddy or dip in the water. They were a pain to clean off half the time, and there were still some red blood stains on it from the Cleansing. Subz wasn’t even entirely sure if he had gotten all washed off, though Vitalasy said that it looked fine, so he just took his friend’s word for it. Birds chirped along the skyline horizon, and a breeze whipped through Subz’ hair, breathing out a sigh. Brown hair was tousled and messy, he had been unable to properly wash it since the big fight, running as he placed down withers and tnt, and sweat had run down his face as he struggled to use the elytra to fly away- Not to mention camping at that bed, to see if anyone would respawn, only for nothing to happen. Subz ran a hand through his hair, trying to comb out knots, grimacing, careful to not painfully bump against the horns that extended from his skull. Lately, they had been hurting significantly- He couldn’t remember bumping them against anything, or being tugged harshly, usually only Vitalasy tugged them playfully, using his height above Subz, which the shorter found eternally infuriating. Everyone seemed to have returned to normal- Or, whatever normal was on a server such as Lifesteal. With twelve hearts carefully dangling from a necklace around his neck, and a new base he was working on, Subz felt like he could breathe. Placing deepslate tiles day by day might bore other server members who longed for destruction, anarchy and war, but Subz, whilst he was engrained to enjoy such chaos, also found peace in the mundane tasks. As he built, his thoughts aimlessly wandered to thinking about different tasks and errands he still had to do- Speaking of, he should gather more obsidian, so that meant a trip to the End soon-Sudden, scorching pain shot through the side of his face, and he let out a surprised, strangled yelp, falling a few metres down and landing on the glass with a thunk, heavy diamond clashing against it, creating a few cracks in the stained purple. Subz could barely think about the fact that his flooring was potentially shattered- As he clutched his palm over the left side of his face, biting his tongue hard as to not make a louder noise of pain. They had been all trained and self-taught how to muffle their pain, because if you were being chased and needed to pull an arrow from your thigh, you could not make a sound. But the crash he had made when falling off, which would usually be quieted by a water mlg, alerted the other figure in the base.“Subz?” Called out Vitalasy, concerned edging through the other man’s tone. Subz squinted over, purple and green eyes watching as Vitalasy emerged from the shadows, almost blending in. Magenta eyes underneath the purple-lined hood, and new, shiny metal armour was being donned by his friend, who walked over to Subz on the ground. “You okay, man?” He asked Subz softly, knowing how he despised being seen as more weak or something other than his usual self. Subz pushed himself off the ground- He was unsure how long he was laying there, his left cheek pressing against the cooler glass, a wet substance by his eye, but when he got to his feet, Vitalasy gave a gasp. “What the heck… Subz, are you okay??” Vitalasy suddenly sounded a lot more worried, and through the agonising thurm that echoed through his mind and blazed the left side of his face, Subz wondered why Vitalasy seemed so panicked. The vision in his left eye was blurring, so he shut it. “I’m- I’m fine-” Subz quickly tried to say.“But- but your face…” Vitalasy’s voice trailed off, something akin to dumbfounded horror in the tone. Subz stopped himself from frowning. His face? What was wrong with his face? As dread grew heavy in his chest, Subz stumbled past Vitalasy, down the hallways of the base and to a mirror- And when he gazed upon the reflective surface, his breathing caught in his throat.Black, bubbly liquid oozed out of his left eye, staining the sclera a menacing black, as it followed the counter and curve of his cheekbone, and dripped slowly, slowly, towards his jaw. The same goo was also sliding out of his nose, like a nosebleed, but it was- Whatever this was. Black, protruding veins webbed upwards, pulsating through the left side, he could even spot one crawling over the bridge of his nose, whitened scars now turning black. “What the FUCK-!” Subz would vehemently deny how his voice cracked at the outburst of fear and horror. What the fuck indeed, what was happening to him?? Vitalasy stood in the doorway as Subz messily tried to use his sleeve to wipe up the liquid, but found that his left hand, hell, his entire left arm, felt like 100 pounds when he tried to lift it, heavy and stiff. He could barely twitch his fingers, and quickly tried to reach over and tug up his sleeve. The same black veins were seeping upwards his arm, where healthy blue veins should be was replaced with a pitch blackness. Subz could only stare in horror as his left eye blurred further and further, blinking frantically, black goo sticking to his eyelashes. It was thick, the substance, and Subz could feel like he was burning as it pulsated through his veins. Vitalasy covered over his mouth, eyebrows drawn in fear and alarm. “Oh gosh- I’m-” The other swiftly stumbled off, presumably to be sick at the horror, yet Subz, even when he felt the bile and his head spin, could do nothing but stare.Surely someone else on the server would know how to help, right? Clownpierce? Who knew what he looked like under that mask- Maybe Spoke, although he seemed to be more of a shadow demon, not… Whatever Subz was becoming. Ashswagg? He was more glitchy than… This, maybe it was some sort of slime that he could messaged Spepticle about. Whatever it was, it didn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.Vitalasy came back, wiping his mouth, and looking rather pale for a man whose face was void of light. “Let’s- Just lay down, maybe have a ‘gap or two…” Vitalasy suggested, shifting forward to help Subz move, clearly weary. Subz could only numbly nod the slightest bit as he was guided to his current spawnpoint, laying down on the white covers, watching as it stained back with- Whatever it was.He laid down, only dimly realising how his hands shook and trembled, feeling like they were on fire- Yet he couldn’t voice his agony, something felt like it was blocking his throat and stopping it. Vaguely, he could feel the mattress shift as someone, presumably Vitalasy, sat on the end of the bed.“Just sleep, Subz- We’ll- We’ll get you healed up.” Vitalasy murmured as a reassurance, and it was the last thought of Subz’ mind as he drifted off into blissful, unburning unconsciousness.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
It wasn’t abnormal to see Clownpierce around. What was abnormal about it, was how Clown was curled up on a tiny, dingy mattress that laid in the corner, in a small room just off of the circus. Only an enderchest, furnace, crafting table and anvil was squished into it, and Branzy had no clue what he was expecting, staring blankly at the… Less than ideal living conditions the “deadliest player” on the server lived in. With the way Clown could act, Branzy didn’t know what to expect. Surely not some lavish, luxurious castle(no, that was more suited for PrinceZam), but… This couldn’t just be it? The bed didn’t look comfy either, messed up and sheets stained with blood, assumedly from previous wounds and battles. Clownpierce didn’t even seem comfortable himself, shifting back and forth. Branzy stood in the doorway, feeling like he was intruding. Clown was asleep- It was rather strange to see the pvper with his guard so loose and down, and Branzy scuffed his shoe against the wooden planked flooring, looking at the room closely. Spiders webs hung in the corner, there seemed to be a leak in the roof and the crafting table itself was splitting apart, and dimly Branzy spotted cracks in the anvil, from overuse. He looked back at Clownpierce, whose mask was slightly tilted to the side. He had noticed it earlier, freezing in surprise at Clownpierce’s face, and longer eyelashes and the makeup delicately placed on, that seemed to be smudged from sweat and work. But now, when he looked back, Branzy could see a bright, striking turquoise eye staring back at him. His breathing caught in his throat, pure shock and fear striking through his heart- Oh god, oh god, Clown had caught him, he was obviously going to be murdered, the deadliest player couldn’t take well to being caught like this and-“...Br’nzy..? What- what are you doing?” Clown was slowly sitting up, yawning widely and shifting his mask to cover his entire face now, tilting his head as he looked at Branzy. He looked… A lot different without his whole jester get-up, don’t get Branzy wrong, he still was menacing, just- Softer? The white-haired was unsure of how to describe it, but without the netherite armour, the pots strapped to his belt, and everything on perfectly, Clownpierce just looked like… A guy.“I- Uhhh… H-hey Clown…” Branzy let out a nervous chuckle, reaching a hand up to rub at the back of his neck. Crap. “I was just- About to do some redstone work, yeah-” Branzy hated how suspicious he sounded, because, well, it was the truth. He wasn’t lying whatsoever, something about Clown just made him a little jittery(and it felt like butterflies were swooping around his stomach, but he ignored that part). Clownpierce sighed quietly, and swung his legs off the side of his bed, clearly tired but still getting up. Branzy felt like he’d offended Clown, and gulped. Clownpierce calmly did up his boots, and Branzy could notice where the straps connected and secured. Clownpierce got up, reaching for his gloves- Branzy noticed that Clownpierce still wore gloves whilst he slept, although not his fighting ones. No, these were made from black, fluffier wool, and covered the expanse of his forearms, and curiosity erupted through Branzy-Before swiftly shutting that thought down. Curiosity killed the cat, Branzy remembered keenly, swiftly averting his gaze as Clownpierce turned away, as he put on his white, more silken gloves. Branzy’s purple gaze stayed stuck on the ground, again noticing how dirty the tiny room was. Concern rippled through him, but before he could comment, Clown was walking towards him, typing something on his communicator, before stopping in front of Branzy. They were so close, Branzy was worried Clownpierce could hear his heart. That’s what predators could do, right? But- Whilst he was scared, trapped in the gaze that Clown shot him, Branzy also felt… Respected. Not in danger. He could actually hear Clownpierce breathing in and out, even as the man stood over him. “...Alright. Redstone, show me how to do this.” Clown said softly, and Branzy’s eyes lit up.“Right away!”The two were working on the games of the casino. After the success of the Funhouse, and Clown’s desire to see his circus boom and grow positively, Branzy was more than happy to help. Besides, having Clown as his ally wasn’t so bad, and he couldn’t deny how it felt good to have Clown protect him.“Oh no- no no no no-” Branzy let out a yelp as a creeper behind him took him off guard, tensing up and shielding his hands over his face at the hiss, fully expecting the trail of redstone dust and repeaters he had just managed to place and time correctly to be exploded in a pile of red, when the green creature was suddenly scorching, ablaze, and sent flinging to the side, with an arrow in its head. Branzy followed the movement, watching as the mob instantly disappeared in a puff of smoke, and breathed out.He looked toward where the arrow came from. Clownpierce, who was sitting on a slight wooden railing, held his bow, clasping it lightly, head dipped towards the ground. He had barely said a word, though Branzy had heard Clown yawn a few times as he set up the redstone. The days prior when Branzy had been helping, Clown had sounded so invested, but right now… Clownpierce just seemed tired. And Branzy couldn’t say that he was surprised- After all, Clown’s mattress in that dingy little room seemed rather uncomfortable. “Hey, Clown-” Branzy started, internally beginning to regret ever speaking. Clown’s head tilted up the slightest bit, and he could see the way that the jester horns seemed to bob a little. “...Mmm?” Clown didn’t even seem to have the energy to speak properly. “If you’re, like… Tired, you know you can sleep, right?” He suggested lightly. “I-I appreciate your protection, but I can take care of myself.” He quickly added on, trying to not offend Clownpierce. Branzy was grateful, it’s just… Well… He was a little worried about Clown. Instead of the retort or response he thought he was gonna get, he just got a slow nod as Clown stood up- Not sadly, just lethargic, and began to walk to the side of the circus that his tiny, pathetic, poorly-kept room was. Branzy found himself interrupting before he could think. “Your room looks like crap.” He blurted out, and Clown stopped in his tracks. Oh shit, oh shit, why did he just do that-“You’re right.” Clown softly agreed. Branzy wasn’t even sure if the pvper actually had spoken, it was so quiet. “...You- I have a bigger bed, and a fireplace, at my base,” Branzy offered. What was he thinking! Was he a madman? “You can sleep there for the night?”No one in their right mind would agree, this was the Lifesteal SMP, going into someone’s base when they invite you could obviously be a trap-“Sure.”Branzy blinked once. Twice. “Okay-” His voice totally didn’t crack there, watching as Clownpierce shifted his weight between his feet. “Yep, lemme just finish this circuit, and we can go-” Branzy said, now realising the danger of his situation. He had just invited Clownpierce to his base, where his respawn point was, he could be trapped and killed off the server, but…He had a feeling that Clown wasn’t that cruel. Reddoons, or Spoke, maybe. Subz certainly seemed stoic enough to do so. But Clown, while he was dangerous, he didn’t seem unfair. He was justified, in his own, and even Branzy’s, eyes. Clapping his hands together to watch red dust floating off of his palms, Branzy finished up the redstone, and he walked over to Clownpierce, collecting a few more things from his chest. That was good enough for now, the observers were gonna be agony over the next few days, but for now, Clown looked like he was falling asleep on his feet.Walking over, Branzy smiled up at Clown, not timidly, he refused to be that pathetic around the clown, and nodded. “Follow me!” He said, trying to keep his voice cheery, though the tremor still remained. Clownpierce shuffled behind him, and Branzy tried to walk slow enough so they were almost side by side, walking along the riverbanks, and then the wooden path, pasing builds, until they arrived at Branzy’s house, just off of spawn. It was almost quaint- Perfect for Branzy, but now looking at it, Branzy could tell it was so much larger than Clownpierce’s home- Hell, Branzy used to live in a castle before it blew up! Granted, he hadn’t really done any decorations, but still! A zombie groaned in the distance. Right, it was still night. Clown stared up at it, before he followed Branzy inside, having to duck slightly. Politely, Clownpierce took his boots off, Branzy saw how those had bloodstains, and did not want any of that trekking into his house. “It’s just this way- Do you want some food, or a drink, or…?” Branzy offered politely. He was the host of this house, and wanted to make a good impression(only briefly did he wonder why he wanted to cater to Clownpierce so much, because it didn’t feel to be out of fear). Clown merely waved him off. “I’m just… A little tired.” He said quietly, and Branzy nodded. “Right, well- This way!’ Branzy led him up some stairs, and into the bedroom. It was a rather big bed, with light purple sheets and a duvet over it. Branzy instantly went over to his fireplace, taking the flint ‘n steel out from on top of the brick, and flicked it a few times against the firewood and kindling, until a spark caught on, and the fireplace turned a glowing red, orange and yellow. Clownpierce sat on the bed, it sinking the slightest bit under his weight. “...Do you have a bathroom, I could change in-?” Clownpierce asked, and suddenly Branzy wondered who was the timid one, or why there was a tone of nervousness in Clown’s voice. “Uh, yes, right down the hall, first door to the right!” Branzy pointed. He should also get changed too, because, well, it was still really late at night(or should he say early?) and needed to set up a spare bed in a different room. “I’ll get the other bed set up-” He said as Clown began to walk towards the doorway. “You don’t need to- I can sleep in the separate bed.” Clown offered, and Branzy shook his head. “This mattress is comfier and warmer, it’ll be better-”“Branzy.”“Besides, you’re my guest! I want to make sure that you have a good bed-”“Branzy…” “And-”“Branzy!” Clownpierce’s voice cut through, almost exasperated. It was clear that he was exhausted through the way he felt himself, and Branzy’s mouth clamped shut. He didn’t fear it, though, more just… Felt bad. His rambling must’ve been a little too loud for the fighter. “... We can just share the bed.” Clown said, before disappearing around the corner. Branzy stood, dumbfounded. Okay. He was normal. He was about to share a bed with Clownpierce!!The thought made his heart race, and he instantly winced, thinking of himself alike one of those Clownpierce fans on PVP Legacy, donning his skin and screaming his name. God forbid. Branzy shook off the thought, and quickly unbuttoned his vest and removed it, opting for a warmer, comfier purple sweater and swiftly changed out of his jeans into softer night pants. He had hurried- He didn’t want Clown to come back whilst he was half naked. Making sure that everything was alright, and sending a quick message to Rek, even though his best friend was surely asleep, Branzy heard footsteps as Clownpierce walked back.He stood in a hoodie, which was a teal-grey, and seemed to formerly have some sort of logo and lettering on it, in white, but had since been either rubbed off over time, or… By force. He also wore longer pants, similar to Branzy’s, except with little black and red patterns. He wore socks, and Branzy bit back a comment. Clown definitely seemed like the type of guy to wear socks whilst sleeping. Those black woollen gloves were back, and it also seemed like Clown was wearing a turtleneck- Not a sliver of skin was shown, and Branzy wondered why that was.Clownpierce laid down, just wearing the face mask, and not the entire getup. From here, Branzy could notice what seemed to be soft, darker hair peeking out from above the mask, but he reached over and switched off the light. Clownpierce managed to get under the covers, as did Branzy, feeling suddenly tense and almost awkward. “...Branzy…” After a few moments, he heard his name. “Yeah?” He asked, the word virtually a whisper. There were a few moments of pregnant, pondering silence. “...Nothing. Sleep well.” Clown finished on, and Branzy couldn’t help but wonder what Clown would’ve said. “Good night, Clown. Sweet dreams.” Branzy spoke, resting his head on the pillow. “Sweet dreams…” The muffled voice returned.Branzy laid in bed. He was somewhat tired, but granted, he had gone to sleep earlier and still managed to get a few hours in. But his mind was wide awake right now. He was in bed with Clowpierce- Wait, no, that sounded terrible. He was sharing a bed with Clownpierce! He could feel the other man’s breathing steady out, as he drifted into unconsciousness, and Branzy wasn’t sure to be amazed at how fast he slept. Either Branzy’s bed was really comfy, or… Clown was really tired. And Branzy was willing to bet it wasn’t the first one, even though his bed was comfy.Silence settled over the two, only distrubed by the crackling of the fireplace, making a rather peaceful atmosphere. Branzy tried to shut his eyes and sleep, but simply couldn’t, still thinking about the fact that the warm body less than a metre away from him was the most dangerous player he had ever met. If he turned over, he was sure that his face would be right against Clownpierce’s bicep, and he internally scolded himself for tempting himself to do that. He couldn’t disturb Clownpierce, not when the killer was… Well, so adorable. There, fine, Branzy admitted it. He thought Clownpierce was adorable whilst he slept, legs slightly curled, and one hand tucked underneath the pillow. He didn’t know how much time had passed, when he heard a murmur, and instantly was shot awake, opening his eyes a little. He frowned. Had he really just heard something?Another murmur confirmed his thoughts, this one the slightest bit more audible. “No…” Branzy frowned, and turned over the slightest bit to Clownpierce. One of his hands was curled, his shoulders were tense and stiffened, but he still seemed to be asleep. Something broke through Branzy’s thoughts- A whimper. Was- Did he hear that right? He had heard it before, from his own mouth, and Branzy was certain that he didn’t do that. So…“My- my t’wer…” The almost slurred voice of Clownpierce came through, and suddenly Branzy felt Clownpierce twitch. Only too late did he realise what was happening. “I know how to get- get rid of all the withers in one shot-” Branzy’s eyes widened at the words. He had only heard the stories from Rek, and he swiftly sat up, turning to Clownpierce, growing more and more panicked. “Spoke- Spoke please, no- my tower- Don’t-” The stuttered, weak whines that came from Clownpierce seemed so out of character, and Branzy could only watch in horror as Clown flinched, then thrashed slightly. “Woah- woah- Clown!” Branzy tried to call, fearful to touch in case he set off some sort of survival kill-or-be-killed instinct in Clown.“It hurts- No-” Came the mournful cry from the sleeping Clownpierce, and now Branzy understood why Clownpierce was so tired. The amount of nightmares- No, night terrors, he must have. And Branzy had seen Rek with a night terror, and needed to make sure that Clownpierce woke before it turned into one, because Branzy was sure he didn’t have much time. He took a deep breath, and shook Clown. “Clown!! Wake up!!” He called, and Clownpierce gave a loud gasp, flinching away. Branzy immediately took his hands off him, Clownpierce now quiet. “...Clown…?” He asked hesitantly. A small cough, and a very quiet, “...yes?” Answered him. He sighed in relief. Thank god Clown was awake. Blindly, Branzy slapped his hand along the wall until he was greeted with the lever to switch on the lamps, and light engulfed the room, making both men wince. Clownpierce’s shoulders were hunched, which was the first time that Branzy noticed. The second thing he noticed was that his entire body was trembling. And the third thing was how Clownpierce was rubbing one hand against the forearm- Although still covered by the glove, when Branzy focused on it, he could see how the movement and friction pushed up the fabric. It was definitely a self-soothing gesture. “Hey, hey…” Branzy’s voice was soft, like he was soothing a wounded animal.“You okay…?” He asked quietly. Branzy didn’t know what he was supposed to do- He had just witnessed Clown have a nightmare, presumably about… the Season Two end? Clownpierce swallowed, voice seemingly scratchy and raw. “...Not really.” He answered softly, honestly, and Branzy’s brows knitted together in worry. “If you wanna talk about it- I… I can listen.” Branzy offered. He was okay with listening, because, while… Clownpierce seemed haunted by demons at the moment, and Branzy wanted to do all he could to help.“I…” Clownpierce was hesitant- of course he was. Branzy actually didn’t expect for Clown to really talk to him about it, maybe just roll over and go to sleep, or even just leave, or-“How much do you know about the Season Two ending?” Clownpierce asked, shifting so his back was more against the headrest. Branzy licked his tongue over his teeth, trying to get his thoughts in order for an actual conversation. “Uh… Rek told me that Spoke and Parrot, or- Their nation-” “The Poggies.” Clownpierce cut in, pure scorn in his voice. Branzy gulped. “Right, yeah, them, spawned like, a thousand withers? And blew up most of the world, and… Yeah.” Branzy knew it was pretty lame, his description, but Clownpierce nodded. “Poafa, specifically, helped blow up my tower- MOB. Men Of Battle.” Clownpierce sounded… So sad, and Branzy’s heart tore a little. “”..That was… Zam and Leo, and you, and..”“Mid, and Terrain was there- We also had Spepticle, Clutch and Subz, but they were more.. Honorary members.” Clownpierce finished. Looking at his hoodie, finally the dots clicked for Branzy. He was wearing a MOB hoodie, but… After the events of this season, must’ve been upset with how Zam betrayed him, after Rek mentioned that they’d been close…“I fought the withers. Almost all of them- I think I killed 900?” Branzy’s jaw dropped. Sure, he had seen the entire server after Clown before, that sure was a stressful time, but those are players, with limited hearts. Withers?? And 900?? Branzy could barely kill one on his own. “But- how?” Branzy breathed out, in both utter amazement and pure shock. Clown looked down at his lap, suddenly the air went cold and Clownpierce suddenly seemed reserved. “...I used end crystals.” Branzy had seen the explosive force, and seen end crystal pvpers stumbling out of the arena, face caked with soot and ash- But they always wore protective gear, that was specifically designed for those types of fighting, every server with end crystals allowed had that gear, but- He heard that end crystals weren’t allowed.“So.. The crystal protection command was…” Branzy tried to connect the dots, slightly confused. The command would’ve kept Clownpierce safe and alive, but, if it was disabled then…Branzy barely noticed the movement, too deep in his own mind. But eventually, when a flash a white caught his eye, he looked over, purple eyes wide. Clownpierce had very slowly pulled off the woolly black gloves, and now suddenly Branzy understood.Scars, crawling all up his hands and arms, ugly, deep explosions and burn scars, twisting and tightening the skin. And it just kept going, and Clownpierce took off the opposite glove. The same thing. Branzy’s breathing hitched at the way that the skin was tight and there were bumps, and reddened skin- It hadn’t healed the best, but it’s very clear that Clownpierce had done his best to treat the wounds. And if it went up his arms and all of that- Then… Branzy’s eyes flickered up to Clown. “...It’s everywhere.” He said quietly. “Around… 80? 90? Something like that- 90 percent of my body is covered in…” His voice trailed off, maybe just not wanting to admit how heavily scarred he was. It was laughable, honestly- Fitting for the fearsome Clownpierce, but… The chronic agony that came with every movement was clear the more you looked at it, he had gotten significantly worse throughout this season, and partially was to blame for his injuries. The battles, the hearts he had lost because of stupid mistakes making his muscles seize and clamp up and throb with agony. Branzy swallowed, his adam’s apple bobbing. Just because Clownpierce was scarred and damaged, well… “That doesn’t mean you're broken.” Branzy very softly said. “It means that you went through a terrible thing, sure, but- Clown, you’re still beautiful-” He wasn’t sure why that was the word that dropped from his mouth, but it seemed to burn Clownpierce, the pvper giving a scoff and reaching a hand up. “What are you-” Branzy started, as Clown yanked off his mask, and tucked his hands under his hoodie to slip it off. Underneath, on his expanse of bare skin, where Branzy would usually be somewhat flustered to see, was an array of scars and burns, clashing with each other, not even completely healed. It was- Well, being blunt, it was ugly, and looked like it hurt. And when Branzy’s eye flickered up to his face, those scars crawled up there as well. But… Whilst the scars might’ve disfigured him and caused him agony, Branzy…“Does this look like someone beautiful to you?” Clownpierce’s voice was barely over a whisper, because any louder and he feared his voice would crack from emotion. “Yes.” Branzy responded softly, before fiercely reaffirming it as he lightly took Clown’s hands. “Yes, it does.”And Branzy would never say a word as Clownpierce collapsed against his chest, muffled cries coming from such a dangerous man, a dangerous man who felt so insecure and just wanted to feel safe and loved, and not as a monster. And Branzy wrapped his arms around Clown, vowing, that just as Clown would avidly protect him, he would protect Clown until his very last breath.

There was a place that Lifesteal members went as they waited oh-so-patiently for the world to build around them.As new terrains spiralled into creation, block by block forming as little pixels, that got clearer and clearer until you could see, from a distance, the gentle blades of grass swaying in the wind, the green leafs tousled and ruffled from the wind breezing through and floating onto huge oak roots. A new world, unburdened by the brutal and violent defamation and destruction that was Lifesteal SMP Season Three. However, the players were not allowed on just yet. Some of them busied themselves with other SMPs, some busied themselves with one of the biggest gatherings of players, a famous event called TwitchCon- in fact, maybe of the Lifesteal members were to be going to that very event. Alliances were null after the Season Three server closed and their world turned to void. However, Clownpierce had gotten a message on his communicator. A small ding that alerted his keen ears and sent eyes flickering over to the small screen on his wrist. Probably not the best thing to do while in the middle of some PVP, Clownpierce admitted. But he was so excited, and had lit up, on the thought that it could Branzy, that all coherent thought left his mind, all survival instincts. “Woah! Clown, watch out, dude.” A familiar voice from barely a metre away from him, with a curved sword, that glowed with enchantments, raised barely to his chest, clearly hesitant. Clownpierce instantly flicked his hand to ender pearls and teleported away, when though Rasplin had paused. Clownpierce blinked, the thrill of adrenaline at such sudden danger swiftly ebbing away from his bones. The other man seemed certainly confused in his body language, and Clownpierce cleared his throat rather sheepishly.“Sorry- Thought that someone messaged me, hold for a moment?” Clownpierce asked, and Rasplin switched his sword for a golden apple, which he tossed up and down in the air, nodding causally. They weren’t being competitive, and were just playing privately for now. No need for spectators to watch them make mistakes- Because really, they were just fooling around, and causally fighting, not serious. Clown wanted some time just to take a break and chill before Season 4 of Lifesteal began. But now that Rasplin wouldn’t be tailing him, Clown could really squint at his communicator. A message, alas, not from the white-haired, and gorgeous amethyst eyes watching him from behind long, light eyelashes-Clown forced himself to focus again. It wasn’t his fault Branzy was so distracting-Rekrap2: Hey Clown! I know we don’t really talk between seasons, but I was wondering if you could train me a bit? I keep on fumbling a bit when under high pressure situations and was wondering if you had tips.It was a simple request, and, well, Rek wasn’t wrong. Clown had gotten out of some very stressful situations lately- Such as the entire server on him. That still lingered in his mind, a silent admission of guilt from that day. Not from his actions, or the destruction or bloodthirstiness, no- But the fact that he had actually yelled at Branzy. Clown had gotten- Really, really overwhelmed there, and feared that this would just end up like Season Two, with the withers-“Yo, Clown! You okay?” Rasplin called, and Clown looked up, vaguely wondering when his friend moved closer, jester horns bobbing slightly. He had dug Piercer into tufts of dirt, and his spare hand was clenched around it tightly- He was sure that if he wasn’t wearing gloves, Clown would’ve been able to see his knuckles turning white. Loosening the hold, Clown nodded. Rasplin didn’t push, but still kept a concerned eye.“My friend wants me to train with him a little.” Clown quickly said, remembering the message, and raising the communicator yet again. There was a small poker chip charm hanging from it, a direct chip taken from Branzy’s pocket when they were making the casino. A reminder. Rasplin didn’t look disappointed whatsoever, he shrugged causally, putting away his gear. “Alright, but listen-” He hung up his sword on the small gear shed in the corner. When the sword left his touch, it turned back into an ordinary sword, as did the totems. “I still want to properly fight you. Didn’t get too much of a chance with that Mr. Beast event.” Clownpierce blinked, and for a moment, saw red-hot over his vision, suffocating in the lava, unable to escape the cobwebs, before nodding to Rasplin. The civilization event had been fun, reminding Clown of Spoke’s old events and how he dominated them. Now, he wondered if Branzy had heard of the events, and if he was impressed.Clown waved goodbye to Rasplin, calling after him, “Jungle superior!” “No way!! Badlands for life!” Rasplin yelled back, laughing at their little joke over their teams, before he warped back. And it was just Clown alone in the arena. The temptation was there, to just tell Rekrap that he couldn’t train him, and to just call Branzy over, but- Clown knew that he should at least be a little friendly with Branzy’s friends- Even if said friend had embarrassed him with his failed prison all that time ago.So, tapping a speedy reply, Clown switched off the communicator, humming along to Combat Carousel as he set up for the escapist to arrive.Clownpierce: Sure dude, just warp to me.And not too long after that message was sent, a small bell sounded as Rekrap2 appeared in the arena. Clown had one leg hiked up, laying on a tree log that had fallen due to a hefty explosion from end crystals, sharpening his Grace scythe and making sure the weapon’s blade was nice and serrated. Clown was trying to get himself used to using them again, but just the thought of it, the screeches of withers and sharp pain spiking along his back-A rather awkward voice cleared his throat, and Clown looked up. He forgot that he could sometimes look like quite the terrifying figure. Getting to his feet, Clown angled the weapon to the ground to come off as… Not so unsettling. Rekrap scratched the back of his head. “Hey, man, thanks for offering to train on such short notice-” He said, and Clown dipped his head in a nod. Rek continued. “I would’ve asked one of the others, like, Ro, or Parrot-” Both respectable fighters in their own rights, Clown noted. “But they were all singing some song- I think Ash was hosting a party? Don got everyone to do karaoke, somehow.” Rek explained, and Clown couldn’t help but let out a laugh at the idea. Then, his second thought was if Branzy was there, singing his heart out.“But, me and Branzy decided to leave- Chief wanted us to check on his redstone and… Now I’m here!” Rek explained, already walking to grab some gear. “You’re wanting to train for high-intensity situations, right?” Clown asked, raising his communicator to swipe through admin controls on his screen. “Yeah, I feel like I could’ve done some better fights in Season 3, or just survived for longer, so I thought if I practised…”Clown waved him off dismissively. “Practice does help with that, as does following your gut instinct.” He said, pressing the button for the Lifesteal kits. Netherite swapped out for diamond, and both went over to collect gear. Both stood on opposite ends, as a small counter on the side counted them down. If you had asked Rek for him to be up against one of Minecraft’s most renowned PVPers a few years ago, even, hell, maybe able to call him a friend, Rek could call you utterly insane, Rek wouldn’t believe it.But standing across from him, Rek felt his heart race in anticipation. Clown’s eyes narrowed under the mask, fixed on Rek, mind automatically switching to his fight mindset.321Go.Immediately, Clown began running. Rek made a wider circle around while Clown beelined for him- Made sense, since there was only one target. Swords clashed against sturdy wood of shields, and Rek rolled out of the way and switched out the firm hilt of a blade for his bow, cocking an arrow and shooting- However, Clown easily managed to dodge, and Rek paused to stop from fumbling and stopping his hands from trembling. You didn’t have time to breathe and take a moment when you were in danger of getting your hearts taken, and Rek let the arrow fly, and this one hit Clown in the shoulder- Luckily, the diamond armour sent it deflecting away, but Clown still felt it. A soft little ding sounded as the arrowhead was sent skirting away through the air and landed in the ground. And couldn’t stop himself from chuckling, remembering a distinct moment.Rekrap lowered the bow, a third arrow already against the string and notched. “What’s so funny?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. Clown shook his head, rolling his shoulders, clear that they weren’t fully serious yet. “Oh, just reminded me of-” He was a bit sheepish to admit this to Rek, but it was already brought up.“When I was with Branzy at the casino, I was really focused on setting up some of the tr- '' He stopped himself from saying traps- Even though everyone knew that this point, the dignity and respect of his casino meant a whole lot to Clown.“Some of the games, so he decided to shoot me to get my attention. And it made a noise just like that.” Rekrap’s mind loaded to comprehend. Sounded like a very similar story to what Branzy told him.-A pink blush on his cheeks, and scratching at the back of his head. Branzy gave a soft giggle. “Well… I shot him, and it made this ding- He looked so surprised, it was adorable!” Branzy explained. Rek and Branzy had been staying up late one night, during Season 3, when most had logged off, and were on call with Chief. Chief had pestered and begged Branzy to talk, having heard rumours of this new man that Branzy had gotten with, this dreamy new boyfriend of his. Rek had been curious, but at the time, didn’t think much of it.And now, this dreamy new boyfriend made total sense. And as if you call the devil, he appears, a soft bell ring alerted both men of a presence arriving. When both looked to the entrance, Branzy stood there, sitting with his purple button-up. It was clear he spotted Clown first, because his eyes lit up. “Clown!” And then, Branzy spotted Rek, and seemed to swiftly hide the wide, loving smile- But the dots clicked for Rek.“You two are dating!?” Rek blurted out, before his mind could catch up with his mouth, and Clown looked like a deer caught in headlights, while Branzy seemed momentarily surprised, before grinning and nodding- Not hiding anything whatsoever.“Yep! Sorry I didn’t tell ya, I was going to soon. Promise!” Branzy spoke quickly, rushing up to them. Clown looked between the two, and Branzy couldn’t help but find it endearing. Rek sighed slightly. Of course. It made so much sense.Casino co-owners my ass, Rek thought at the way that Branzy wrapped his arms around Clown. The two seemed like opposites, but… Rek had seen them together, fight side by side, the tenderness that Clown showed with Branzy. He smiled. But the lingering worry of what would happen when Season Four came around. But Rek decided against bringing that up now- They look so happy together, right now. Season Four was a problem for the future. Right now, Clownpierce and Branzy would be happy together.(And Rek just stood there. Fuck. Now he’s a third wheel.)
