It had felt easier to get a job with Gringotts as a curse breaker than fighting for anything else. Wizards her age still saw, and judged, her for her breakdown after Cedric had been murdered. Even after she’d graduated, even after the war had ended, everyone knew that Cho Chang was weak and weepy. She hated that and she wore that hatred like armor.Being assigned to the Hong Kong branch of Gringotts had gotten her out of Britain and away from the shadow of her teenage self. (She loved that girl and would protect her with her life but that wasn’t who she was any more.)Parkinson had been a surprise. The both of them prickly and mean but they worked well together. Contracts that ensured they had each other’s backs became true trust. Biting and vicious words soften to lean more friendly than dangerous. When a hidden trap triggers to seal them in, Cho unshrinks her broom from her bag. Pansy looks between her and the walls closing in and Cho can see her panic. She leans toward her, hand outstretched as she balances over the broom.“Pansy! Take my hand.”She does and friendship turns to love.
