Work Text
You painfully trudge through the castle gate.
Ugh. That fat bastard better give me workman’s comp for this shit.
You’re way behind schedule on your deliveries after this mess with the lycans, but thankfully this is your last stop for the day.
I’m going to be so sore tomorrow.
“You’re late, mutt.”
The raspy voice comes from behind you and you jump, wheeling around to face it.
Cassandra.
The last person you would want to see you like this.
“Bela and Dani got tired of waiting-“, she stops, dark brows furrowing at the state of you. “What the fuck happened to you?” If you didn’t know any better you’d say she almost sounded worried.
“Oh you know, the usual. Couple of lycans thought they could get the jump on me.” You pause for a second, feeling around your mouth with your tongue. One of your premolars dislodges at the pressure and you unceremoniously spit it to the ground. Well that sucks. “You really ought to see the other guys. They look way worse.”
The look on her face says she doesn’t quite believe you but she doesn’t call you out on it. You just shrug, turning toward the giant castle doors and shouldering one open. You still have a delivery to make. Hopefully the Countess doesn’t skin you alive for dripping blood on her floors.
Another day, another delivery. You push open the castle gate and make your way across the courtyard. The sisters are waiting for you and rush to you as you rifle through your bag for their packages. Bela and Daniela flit back into the castle when their items are in hand, leaving you standing with Cassandra. You go to hand her her package and stop short.
“…is that what I think it is?” There’s no way. It had been nearly a week since your scuffle with the lycans, surely she wouldn’t have kept
that.
But there it is. Wire wrapped and hanging from a woven leather cord necklace you haven’t seen her wear before.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Her response is immediate, defensive. Is that…a hint of embarrassment in her voice? That tells you it’s
exactly
what you think it is.
“That’s my tooth!”
“It’s hanging around my neck so that makes it mine!” She’s just as childish as Daniela, honestly.
Mother Miranda keep me, this woman!
“It might be around your neck but it was in my mouth! That means it’s still mine!“Yeah well maybe that’s why I wanted-“ She cuts herself off, falling silent as she looks anywhere but at you. The faintest blush rises to her cheeks but her skin is so pale that it’s still noticeable.
Oh.
Oh.
That’s…surprisingly sweet in a weird way.
She wanted something that was literally yours, had been a part of you. Wanted it enough to keep it with her on a necklace for all to see.
How cute.
Not a word you would normally associate with big bad Cassandra Dimitrescu, but at this moment she’s undeniably cute.
You take a step forward. She goes to take a step back but your hand shoots out to hold her hip. She doesn’t fight you as you pull her closer but she still isn’t looking at you. “If you wanted my mouth you could have just asked.” You lean forward and nip at her full bottom lip. Her eyes darken and before you can react her hands are in your hair, pulling your mouth back to hers. You can’t contain your grin as she kisses you roughly.
Heh, totally worth losing a tooth
