Kissing Cissie always felt amazing.
It felt like all of the butterflies in her stomach were exploding. Like the world stopped for a single moment, just for the two of them.
And, heck, Cissie was amazing. Cassie never imagined being able to be this close to her. To kiss her forehead when she fell asleep in her lap. To call her her girlfriend, proudly, in front of everyone. To hold her hand. To touch her cheek like that.Being with Cissie was a dream come true. A gift. And Cassie was planning on ceasing every little bit of it.
But when Cissie's lips got close to her, this lingering fear would awaken.
It was like something in Cassie was scared to take this any further.Cassie loved Cissie. Like she'd never loved someone before. She wanted to be with her. Take care of her. Cherish her.
She knew she'd give up her world for Cissie. Keep on sailing with her, even when all hope seemed lost.
She loved Cissie so, so much. She could write poems and stories about her feelings for Cissie. How she was beautiful, and kind, and somehow just right for her.
She could talk for hours to Tim, or Kon, or anyone who would listen, about her amazing girlfriend.
She could look at that beautiful face for day unending. She could tell Cissie all the ways in which she's perfect, even when the archer wouldn't listen. She'd give everything for this beautiful human being.
Almost everything. She knew everyone had feelings, and desires.
Well, she checked the first box, didn't she?
But there was something almost wrong about the way her body reacted to Cissie's touch sometimes.Like they way it was now.
They were kissing. Passionately kissing, to be exact.
They sat on Cassie's bed in her room in Titans Tower.
Tangled in each other, sparks flying between them like fireworks. And Cassie love kissing Cissie. But there was something wrong right now. And Cassie wasn't the only one who notices it.Cissie pulled back from the kiss, a worried look on her face. "Is something wrong?" she asked hesitantly.Cassie realized her mouth was wide open, and so were her eyes. She quickly shook her head and smiled softly."Are you sure you want to be doing this now? You seem kind of... Out of the loop." Her beautiful girlfriend smiled back.Cassie sighed softly. "Would it be okay if we just... Sit together? Cuddle?" she asked.Cissie nodded. "Sure, that'll be nice," she sent a hand forward and passed it through her partner's short hair.Cassie laughed at the gesture and gently laid down on the bed, placing her head on Cissie's lap.Cissie adjusted her position to fit Cassie, and started softly caressing her belly, drawing imaginary circles on it through the soft fabric of her shirt.Cassie closed her eyes in relaxation. It was nice, sitting there, simply being loved. She loved being loved by Cissie. She loved loving Cissie. She tried to remember everyone she ever loved. There was Mom, of course. And Diana, and Donna, and Artemis. Her friends on Themyscira were nice, But she didn't know if she could call that love.
She knew she loved Tim. And Kon. And Bart. They were her family, her loved ones. There were the rest of the Titans. Her teammates. There was Kara, Kiran, Amy, Lorena, Mia, and even Rose, when she was willing to admit it. She loved her School friends once. Before Wonder Girl, before Diana came into her life, she loved simply and whole-heartedly. Her whole life span around love and the people she loved. She went far for love. Maybe further away then she should've, sometimes.Love was complicated, Cassie realized that a long time ago.
And still, she'd do almost anything for love. But looking back, when Kon and her still thought romantic love would be the way to go with their relationship, there was something so wrong about it.
When they'd make out in a hallway in Titans Tower, and Kon would get a bit too close, a bit too confident. When he'd send his hand under and up her shirt, her breath would stop.
Not because of the excitement and the beat of the moment, but because of the fear. She knew she wasn't supposed to be scared of going any further with their relationship.
But she was.It all felt so irreversible. Once she'd do it, one *they'd* do it, there'd be no turning back.
And in those moments, Cassie wanted, most of all, to turn back. She loved love. She loved waiting for Cissie outside S.T.A.R. Labs with flowers and candy. She loved using Tim's money to take her girlfriend to the most fancy restaurant in town. She loved sitting on the couch watching Lesbian dramas with her archer, a bucket full of popcorn on her lap. She loved cuddling with Cissie, feeling her soft skin on her ears and freckles. She sighed as her significant other ran a hand through her hair."I feel like I don't like sex." She said abruptly.Cissie looked at her curiously. "You don't?" she simply asked. "I don't feel any need for it, no." The slightly shorter blonde replied."Oh.""Do you think that's weird?" Cassie looked up at Cissie with a worried look in her eyes."Not in the slightest. You know, Asexuals exist. Bart and I talked about it a lot. He told me he thinks he might be one."Asexuals... Now that was an idea she hadn't thought of. Cassie gave it a minute.
"Well, I think I might be one, too.""That's nice" Cissie remarked. Then, after a quick pause, she added: "You're in good company.""Yeah..." Cassie wondered into the air.She *was* in good company. Dating Cissie, hanging out on an almost daily basis with Kon, Bart and Tim, that was good company. Having a mother like Helena, having a mother figure like Diana, that was good company. Sharing the Wonder Girl mantle with Yara, continuing the legacy of Donna, that was good company. Fighting for the good of the world with her Superhero friends by her side, that was good company. Carrying the Amazons' symbols, spreading their message of love and peace in the world, that was good company. And it was all about love. All about loving and being loved unconditionally. There were no terms of service for her love. No physical condition to officiate the bond. But it was love. And now more than ever, love was love. She got up from Cissie's lap, and planted a kiss on her lips."I love you." she mumbled softly to her lover.Cissie smiled widely at her. "God, Cassie, you have no idea just how much I love you back.""Think you can tell me?"
