Wow, what a fun fic to bind! I’m not in the Final Fantasy fandom, so this was a fun design challenge - and I got to treat it more like an original novel! The fic is dark, with a lot of magic and magic-induced dreams; I think the choice of cover paper reflects that, with swirling gold in a dark void. I used the Wombo AI to create the title page images for volumes one and two respectively - the first being lighter, more blue-toned, and the second being a fiery red, after the first volume ends in a darker place, narratively.
I chose a crown for the scene break image because that is what the whole fic centers around - Noctis’ struggle to become King, or rather grow into being King and acting upon his duties, while Ardyn also comes to terms with his own place, a fallen king. I chose to go with red for the accents in both books because I felt it fit the tone better than gold, and the red/gold/black aesthetic felt like it tied the book together for me (and the crown was already gold - didn’t want too much gold on the pages!)
All in all, I had a lot of fun with this; I hope you both enjoy having this epic work on your shelf!
