Goh slowly looked over Melemeles beach and all of the people currently occupying the benches that had been set up over it.They had wanted to keep their guest list small, only family and close friends, which had of course failed very badly, because that already included over 30 people. It almost felt like an out of body experience. It was utterly surreal that he was here, that this was going to happen. Yet at the same time, he couldn't be happier and more excited. His eyes met his moms, who was sitting next to his dad in the very first row on the left, and she gave him a wobbly smile and a wave.Goh returned an equally wobbly smile, and nodded a few times, probably way too enthusiastically, but he didn't really care.Next to his parents, were the Cerises, because they were like family as well to Goh.Chloe was his oldest friend, and she was so so important to him. The woman seemed to already be fighting with tears, her hand intertwined with her girlfriends next to her, though Goh wasn't sure which woman was trying to comfort who, because Dawn didn't look any less emotional. The first row on the right was occupied by Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet, people that were important to Ash the same way Professor Cerise and Talia were to Goh, his Alolan family.Lei was shaking like a leaf in anticipation, and Goh couldn't exactly blame him. He would be responsible for their rings, like Goh knew his brother had been for his parents all those years ago. Professor Oak was sitting in the row behind them, a man that Goh wouldn't have thought would be at such an important event in his life if you had asked him when he was a kid. And next to him, was his grandson. Goh had very begrudgingly agreed to invite Gary, because that man still loved to get on his nerves, but he also knew he was like Ashs Chloe. So even with the guarantee of being teased, it wouldn't have felt right if he wasn't here. In an odd way, they were friends too after all. Then, next to Gary, was Horace. The friend Goh had thought he would never get to see again, but that had quickly become a very important person in his life. From then on, it was all of the people Ash has traveled with, people that Goh has gotten close to over the years as well.Honestly, between Cerulean Gym Leaders and Unova Champs, Akala Island Kahunas and Kalos Queens, it was a complete miracle they had all made it. It was really touching that they had all taken time off today. There were Misty, Brock and Tracey.May and Max.Iris and Cilan.Clemont, Bonnie and Serena...Goh quietly cuckled to himself.Okay, there was no way the order they were sitting in was a coincidence. They had to have done that intentionally. The only people standing out were Dawn, because of course she was, and Nemona, who was sitting right between Mallow and Lana and Kiawe and Sophocles.Actually, Lillie wasn't with her friends either. She was in the row behind them, with Gladion, Lusamine and Mohn. A few more of their friends family members had come along as well, Goh recognised Cilans brothers, there was a group of young women who looked like they had to be Kiawes and Lanas sisters respectively, Dawns mom was there...Some had brought their partners with them, Goh had noticed Drew and Shauna earlier, though they seemed to be keeping to themselves.Right in the back, Goh spotted Danika and Quillon. He hadn't really expected the latter to actually show up when he had invited him, but it was nice to know he did care deep down.Leon had been invited, but hadn't shown up yet. The way Goh knew him, he definitely got lost on the way. There were some more Alolans around too that technically hadn't been invited, but it wasn't like they were in a closed off space, and Ash was their champion, they would be curious.Goh didn't really mind, and he didn't have the heart to tell Olivia to leave. It was pretty common knowledge how much the former kahuna loved events like these. He was also fairly certain the caterers he had run into earlier were Jessie, James, Meowth and Wobbuffet. Either they weren't trying with their disguises anymore, or he had just gotten used to them and wasn't as blind about it anymore as when he was a kid. Oddly enough, he didn't mind them being here either, as long as they didn't try any funny business that is.Ash and him had brought along some of their Pokemon, even if not all of them could be there. They were scattered around the edges of the benches.Goh had brought his usual group of Cinderace, Inteleon and Grookey. Ash had brought his World Championships team, plus his Alola Pokemon that already lived close to begin with. With them was another Incineroar, Kukuis, and a Litten, Leis. And some more of their friends Pokemon were there, as well.Pikachu was at the very forefront, the closest to where Goh was standing. He had been grouchy about not being allowed to be with Ash, but he seemed to have gotten over it, curiously looking around with a content smile, not quite unlike Goh was doing. Lastly, Goh turned around to look back at Samson Oak, who was going to make all of this official. The man gave him a smile. "Having any second thoughts?"Goh shook his head with a chuckle. "No, never."Finally, Delia showed up, walking Ash through the crowd. And thank Arceus, one of the girls - probably Serena, most definitely not May - had managed to convince him to not wear shorts today. He simply looked gorgeous, and with a start Goh realized Ash was dressed this way because of him.Delia squeezed Ashs hand one last time, sharing a meaningful look with him, before letting go, and sitting down next to Professor Kukui. It was a good thing Professor Burnet had said she would film them, because if Goh was being honest with himself, he didn't hear about 97% of what Samson Oak was saying. He was sure the mans speech was great, filled with all kinds of Pokemon puns that would usually get Goh to roll his eyes, but he was entirely too preoccupied to pay attention to it.Preoccupied with staring into Ashs eyes.Preoccupied with holding back tears.Their vows were filled with all kinds of ridiculous stories, that made the attendees laugh, and that made Gohs chest squeeze.About how they had met on top of Lugia, about all of the other adventures they had been on together.About how they had slowly fallen for each other when they were teens, about the silly way Ash had confessed to Goh by catching him an Applin. About Ashs last birthday party, that had unexpectedly to him turned into a proposal.Promises, that they would always be there for each other. Promises, that they would continue to support each others dreams. Shakily, Lei walked up to them, holding up the rings they had picked out. They weren't anything special, simple silver bands with the others name engraved on them.He wasn't even sure yet if they were going to wear them all the time yet or not, because he was aware they would most likely lose them with their adventurous lifestyle, but nothing had ever felt more right on Gohs finger either way.He still wasn't paying much attention to what Samson Oak was saying, but he knew exactly when the man had asked the question. "I do", Goh replied without a moment of hesitation. "I do", was Ashs just as eager answer. And before they were even told to, they met in a deep kiss. Their friends and family loudly cheered, someone whistled enthusiastically.Of course it wasn't their first kiss, not by a long shot, but this one still felt so so special. They seperated after what felt like forever, yet not long enough.Ash moved his hand up to Gohs cheek, presumably wiping away a tear that had managed to escape after all.Goh was fairly certain he was the only one who could hear Ashs whispered "I love you.""I know", Goh whispered back. "I love you, too."The party after the ceremony was exhausting. It turned out neither Goh nor Ash had miraculously become better at dancing since the last time they had tried, so a moment that was supposed to be romantic slowly turned into them making fun of each other for it.Chloe and Dawn broke out into the tears they had been holding back for so long, dragging Ash and Goh into a group hug, and getting Serena to take photos of them.May ate two thirds the cake all by herself, then proceeded to complain about a stomach ache, much to the displeasure of Mallow and Cilan who had made the cake.Lana whipped out a karaoke machine out of thin air, and Bonnie, Tracey and of course Ash decided to join in, singing more out of tune than Goh would have thought was even possible.Lillie, bless her heart, was trying her best to cheer up Mallow and Cilan, while Clemont was trying his best to tear Bonnie away from that godforsaken karaoke machine. Sophocles found Paul hiding in the bushes, and he refused to tell them how long he had been there, or why he was hiding in the first place for that matter, he had been invited. As he had suspected, Gary did intentionally get on Gohs nerves multiple times, no matter how much he tried to ignore it, Horace being the only one brave enough to stand between them, but eventually turning into all three of them laughing about it.Leon finally showed up, three and a half hours too late, looking the part.Team Rocket eventually gave up their disguises and tried to steal their Pokemon, only to be sent blasting off in record time, before being caught mid air by a Bewear, for some reason.Mimey broke the karaoke machine with Focus Punch, Goh wanted to personally thank the Pokemon. At least Brock didn't try any funny business, being terrified about Misty, Max and Croagunk all being in the same vicinity. The day ended in a battle tournament, because of course it did.Ash and Goh both made it to the finals, though Goh was fairly certain both Kiawe and Iris had been intentionally holding back on him. Cinderace gave it her best, but Pikachu was a menace, and Ash got way too carried away and hit her with a 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. So, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, Ash won the tournament.Goh had never felt happier about losing, as he watched his husband hug his partner.Right, husband, he could say that now. That's gonna take some time getting used to.All in all, their wedding day couldn't have been more perfect.
