As his gloved fingers slid across the keys of the piano, Noir could feel himself drifting off into a state of tranquility with the short and soft melody that the instrument let out. Noir hummed to herself as best as she could with how damaged her vocal cords were. He wasn’t a man of many words, never spoke to anyone unless he was spoken to, never went out of his way to contribute to conversation when Homelander held group meetings for the Seven to discuss whatever major event or scandal of the week they had to deal with. But when it was just Homelander and him, things were… different. She found herself feeling infatuated with the Supe, despite Homelander showing more than enough examples of behaving like the heartless, egotistical, and overly confident bastard that most Vought employees knew him to be. Despite all that, Noir would speak to the other for what seemed like hours. A few years back, when Noir was frustrated with the fact that he couldn’t communicate his feelings with the other members, he took it upon himself to learn ASL. Homelander picked up on this, and would take personal lessons from Noir, as well as doing his research and trying his best to show the other what he had learned. From that point on, Homelander would try his best to communicate by signing to him. Unlike Noir, however, he wasn’t fluent and did have trouble with the language. Whenever Homelander would make those mistakes, Noir would laugh it off and resort to using pen and paper to get his point across. At this point, Noir became so caught up in the moment that she didn’t notice Homelander as he entered the room to listen to listen and observe the other playing. Convenient as it was, Noir's fingers slowed down as the piano keys stood still and as the music came to a pause.“You compose that yourself?” Homelanders ' voice had interrupted the trance that Noir was stuck in, but he didn’t take mind to it. She found it to be more of a comfort than an act of annoyance. She took her hands off the piano and placed them both by her side, looking up at the other from across the room.“You’ve been spending a loooot of time in here since Stillwell got us a piano, haven’t you?” He asked, it was less of a question and more of a comment. Noir nodded, he had been spending hours in the newly introduced recreation room, solely for the piano that was placed there. Homelander scoffed and smiled to himself as he made his way across the room to sit next to Noir. Noir shifted to the side of the bench to make room for the other, their hands brushing against each other for a short moment.Homelander could hear Noir's heartbeat increase by the slightest, Noir was knowledgeable of the Blonde's powers and knew that he could hear the thumping in her heart. Homelander turned to look at the other, locking eyes with him. They stayed like that for a while before Homelanders ' voice, once again broke the silence, “Soo… are you gonna show me what we’re working with, or?..” He let the last part linger as Noir nodded enthusiastically and placed his hands on the keys. “Show me what we’re working with..” It ran through Noir's head, Homelanders' voice repeating itself over and over.“We’re...”“We’re..”“We’re.”We. Homelander and Black Noir, a duo, a team, a partnership. Once again, she found herself drifting off and getting stuck in that weird dissociative state. He let her eyes close again. “Noir.” Homelander started. He jumped at his name coming out of the other's mouth, clearing his throat. The Blonde raised a hand to place it on Noir's shoulder. “You alright man?” He asked, Homelander sounded genuine with his question. Noir nodded slowly this time, positioning his hands to mimic how they were when we first had started playing the piano earlier. As her fingers glided across the black and white keys, Homelander removed his hand and let it stay at rest by his side.Black Noir continued with the melody he had been playing before the other had interrupted. Again, Noir did not find Homelanders' presence to be a nuisance, she saw it as the complete opposite. Letting herself shift into a state of serenity, she closed her eyes.He got lost in the music, humming to himself. Hearing a voice join a long. Noir smiled.Noir loved him, she knew that. And Homelander loved her too.
