“When are you coming? I need a little bit of a warning.” A voice said into a receiver, good natured frustration in its tone.
“Soon. I don’t know when exactly. But soon.” The voice on the other end replied vaguely, nonchalant and unconcerned with the frustration in the others tone.
“This isn’t a game...please don’t cause too big of a scene. I know you’re a fan of those things. But...just not with this. It’s too important...okay?” The first voice pleaded, a frown growing on the speaker’s face.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fine.” The voice relented on the other side, leaning back in their seat and playing with the sharp dagger in their hands.
“See you when you get here, Snapping Turtle. Love you.” The other voice muttered, sighing.
“Love you, Butterfly.” Replied the second voice before the dial tone sounded their dismissal. At least she was coming home. Finally, she’s going to be home.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Variel’s P.o.V.
I cut the engine on my motorcycle as I coasted to a stop outside the house that bared the address I had been given. It didn’t look at all like I had expected. It was...
normal
, not at all like what I thought would be home to the being I had come to know so well. I dismounted the vehicle and started toward the home, hearing the muted voices inside. I stopped on the porch, closing my eyes and focusing on the voices. There were quite a few people inside, a party or gathering of sorts I would suppose. I counted at least twenty different voices and breathing.
Opening my eyes, I grabbed the door handle and turning it just as a presence stepped up to it, smiling as humanly as possible at the copper haired vampire who looked down at me. He seemed startled to find me standing in his way and furthermore when he couldn’t probe past the barriers in my mind. I simply smiled back politely and stepped to the side.
“Excuse me, I was expected. At least by one person, so if you could kindly move your fanged ass out of my way, that would be wonderful.” I said nicely despite the lack of nicety in my voice. There were gasps from inside and even more shocked silence as the vampire blankly stepped to the side. I stepped past him and inside, walking into the building and scanning the faces until my eyes landed on the dark ones of my beloved.
“Variel…you’re...early? For the first time ever.” Vladimir choked out as I walked toward him, the heels of my knee high, leather, stiletto boots clicked evenly across the floor.
“Hmm...you said it was important that I come to see you this time. So I hurried. I wasn’t trying to make a scene, I promise. I didn’t expect you to have so much company.” I murmured as I stopped less than a foot from him, enjoying the silence that surrounded us. Eyes were all over me, scanning my leather trench coat and wickedly curled white hair. My own fire crimson eyes were on Vlad’s, seen only by the blonde that stood closest to us, his mouth flapping and floundering like a drowning fish.
“Vladimir, who is this woman?” Came a voice from a little to our left, a heavily accented voice. It was Russian. I could recognize the accent of my homeland, no matter how far away from it I was. Vladimir turned toward the voice and I followed his gaze until I found the man perched on the edge of a recliner.
“This is...Variel...my...Fianceé.” Vlad choked out, looking like he’d been caught with his dick in the pastor’s daughter. Not a good analogy? Maybe more like hand in the cookie jar. I’m not human, give me a fucking break.
“Fianceé!” The blonde next to us shouted, displaying heavy shock. I just laughed softly.
“I guess I am a well kept secret! This is wonderful. And you didn’t want me to make a scene, Butterfly? Well, I suppose introductions are in order. Shall we?” I said, patting Vlad on the shoulder.
“I...Yes. Let’s start this over, Snapping Turtle.” Vlad said, brushing his hair from his face with a stressed sigh.
“Hello, vampires! My name is Queen Variel Quinn Morrigan. Daughter of the War goddess. Currently engaged to Vladimir Tod.” I introduced, doing the kind of bow you do on a judo mat, keeping my eyes on the others as if they would attack me.
“Vary, this my Uncle Otis and our friend Vikas. Vikas, Vary is from Sogdiondon, Russia.” Vlad elaborated, smiling sheepishly. Vikas looked at me with narrowed eyes.
“Vlad, Sogdiondon no longer exists. The town was abandoned within the last eight years.” Vikas said, standing and moving toward me menacingly. I wasn’t phased and simply laughed.
“To humans and those associated maybe. But to my people it is now Irkutsk Oblast. Home to nearly a thousand demons. Hence the ‘Queen’ in my title.” I said, grinning at him, “You see, while my mother is a goddess, my father is a demon. A Famori to be exact. Vicious creatures really. Though the population of Irkutsk isn’t just Famori. There are other beings who come to us, seeking peace and refuge from the judgements of the outside world and their species. There are even a few vampires among us. My consort Horus is a dhampir himself. He is quite the hybrid himself, but I won’t betray his heritage. That was my promised oath to him when he became my consort.”
“This is all nonsense! Drivel from a mad woman! How can you believe this insanity, Vladimir?” Otis exclaimed, waving his hand at me. I simply rolled my eyes and put a hand on my hip, waiting for Vlad to explain himself. This was getting rather exhausting, it was only fun when
I
made the scene.
“Because...she showed me, Uncle. She showed me this world she spoke of. I’ve met Horus and I’ve been to Irkutsk Oblast. It was -13 degrees there, which she didn’t warn me about. I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts!” Vlad replied, reaching to take my hand until he realized it was my left hand, my gun hand and he knew not to grab it.
“Now, Otis. Don’t you think it’s a bit hypocritical for us, as vampires, to say she’s insane for believing in these other creatures? Perhaps they are real.” Vikas said, coming closer to us, looking me over, “You say you are half god, half demon and a queen. How did you two meet?”
“In Stokerton. I was in town to visit a sibling on my mother’s side and ran into him. We got to talking and it led to the relationship we have now. He didn’t believe me at first either though. It took taking him to Irkutsk without warning to prove my truthfulness.” I replied simply, glancing at Vlad who laughed softly.
“I wish I could have seen my face when you suddenly showed your wings and hoisted me into the sky.” He retorted, sidling to my right so he could take my other hand.
“I do believe you screamed and I laughed hysterically.” I said, smiling happily as I squeezed his hand, delighting in the glint of purple that always showed in his eyes when we touched. Our power met and twine in our touch, resonating between us.
“You’re quite an interesting creature, Ms. Morrigan.” Vikas said as he looked between the two of us. Otis was watching us, but hadn’t said a word since Vikas had scolded him.
“I guess you could say that. But anyways. It was a long trip. I think I would like to get some rest.” I said, smiling kindly, brushing a lock of my wild white hair from my eyes.
“Vlad, why don’t you show her to your old bedroom. Since you’re engaged, I’m sure you don’t mind sharing a bed. I still want you to stay in case Dorian is still lurking about.” Otis said, looking at us as if he wanted to try to accept us.
“That sounds wonderful. Lead the way, Butterfly. I’m very tired after the long trip.” I murmured, letting Vlad pull me by my hand up the stairs. There was much to discuss between us and I didn’t want to do that within the company of his people. At least Horus was on his way and would soon be joining us.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
I sat at the kitchen table in the house of Vlad’s Uncle, anxiously awaiting the arrival of Horus. Vladimir had abandoned me for his first day of school, reminding me just how young he was. Otis, his uncle, was a teacher. I was informed of this this morning when I’d come downstairs shortly after Vlad had left in a whirlwind to get his clothing and backpack from his aunt’s house. When I had questioned Otis why his aunt and Otis weren’t living together this morning, he’d blushed and stuttered as he explained to me that Nelly wasn’t really Vlad’s aunt and that it wasn’t that he and Nelly were married. I shrugged and swiped myself a cup of coffee before returning to the bedroom to get away from the strange vampire man. But once I’d felt all presence leave the home I had returned to the kitchen. I wasn’t used to spending time alone. I spent most of my time with my people or my consort, but rarely did I spend it alone. It was unnerving now, to be without Horus and Vlad. But I would get over it, I had no other choice in the matter after all.
I stood after I finished another mug of coffee and figured I would give the town a chance. I threw on my leather jacket and headed out to my motorcycle, stroking its sleek purple side. ‘Heartless’ was etched into the paint in silver. Smiling, I donned the matching black and purple helmet before starting the engine. It thrummed to life and I rode into town to give it a little looksee. And little it was. The town was tiny and didn’t have a bar to speak for, much to my distaste, let alone a liquor store bigger than a closet. The choices were mega limited and I need to do something to celebrate Horus’ arrival. So, sending a text to Vlad, I sped off toward the nearest town. The sign read Welcome to Stokerton. I laughed lightly at the name, remembering meeting Vlad here, and found a good sized liquor store. I was even more delighted when I found that it catered to the supernatural.
“Good evening, let me know if you need any help.” The man at the counter said, reading a book and seeming exceedingly uninterested in his job.
“I will.” I replied, smiling lightly at him before moving on into the store. I browsed each shelf, soon coming across a bottle of bourbon and a bottle of whiskey. Two of Horus’ favorites. After a couple more moments of thought, I picked up a bottle of vodka for myself. I walked up to the counter and smiled gently.
“Did you find everything you were looking for?” He asked as he scanned the bottle.
“Yes, I did. Thank you.” I murmured, knowing we recognized what each other were, but didn’t bother to acknowledge it. That was just how it worked, living our lives without judgement. Not all creatures or species were like this, of course, but us demons tried to co-exist well on the surface.
After paying for the alcohol, I carefully secured the three bottles into the saddlebags on the side of my bike. Revving the engine to life, I started back for Bathory, a lot on my mind. My relationship with Vlad had been very much about him and I. We didn’t talk too much about our family’s past, our heritage, species. I was beginning to think that perhaps we should have. With the war brewing on my side and the accusations growing on his, we were in for a hell of epic proportions. Was this a test of our love? Or were the fates just trying to destroy us? I’d imagine it would be a little of both in this twisted little world of ours. Rather, worlds, if you considered the hell realms I ruled.
It was near dark when I returned to the house that Vlad had originally sent me to, only to find a note taped to the locked door. It seemed to have been written by Otis, I would have recognized Vladimir’s handwriting. He had left another address and informed me that the ‘luggage’ I had left behind had already been brought there. Who even said ‘luggage’ anymore outside of an airport? I can understand being old and living a long time, I’d been there, but evolve your vocabulary, man.
Vladimir’s P.o.V.
“Where are you, Snapping Turtle?” I muttered, sending another text to the crazy half demon. My phone buzzed back at me, but it was a message from Horus.
‘Hey, Princeling. Can’t get ahold of Vary, but you should know as well. I will be arriving in town within the hour. I have missed you both greatly. I can’t wait to see you again. -H.’
I couldn’t help the smile that bloomed on my face with his words. He was such an endearing person and the way he always signed his messages H despite knowing his contact was saved in my phone.
“Hey, Vlad. Why are you looking so nervous?” Uncle Otis asked, walking into the living room with two steaming mugs of blood. He handed one to me and sat on the couch at my side.
“Vary isn’t answering me or Horus. I don’t like not being in contact with her like this. This isn’t her home. It’s not as safe and people certainly aren’t as trustworthy.” I replied, sending a reply to Horus so he wouldn’t panic, too. Though he was a very laid back man, he still panicked when it came to Variel.
“I don’t know the woman very well, but she certainly seems capable of taking care of herself. I helped you unpack her bags. If she’s carrying anything half as lethal as the sword in her suitcase, she’ll be fine.” He said, before taking a sip from his mug. I looked down into mine, picturing the two important people in my life. Sometimes, I wondered where I fit in with them. I wasn’t a powerful, sexy being. I was just...me...just Vladimir Tod the half vampire.
I stood suddenly as I heard the revving of a motorcycle pulling up outside. I smiled and set my mug down, instantly excited to greet the rider. It could have been either one of them, but I knew by the stride coming up the porch steps that it was Horus. I hadn’t seen the man in nearly a year, so as he opened the door, I leaped into his arms. His delighted laugh rumbled through his chest as he spun me in his arms before plopping me down on my feet.
“Evening, Vladimir. I wasn’t expecting the excited reunion from you, but I am glad for such a surprise.” He murmured softly, his hands on my arms as he looked me over with his honey-gold eyes. I smiled brightly, looking over the man who served Variel and now me as well. He had his long, dark brown hair thrown back in a low ponytail so his helmet wouldn’t muss it. His skin, the tan warmth of the ancient Egyptian he was.
“I’ve missed you. I haven’t seen you in months. Come on, take a seat.” I replied, grabbing his hand and pulling him eagerly into the living room to meet Otis. Now that my shock of the night before was gone, it felt great to finally be free of the secrets I had kept and to be able to show off my other family. “Here. Um...Uncle Otis, I’d like you to meet the Consort Horus Indigo.” I said gleefully, handing Horus the mug of blood. He hoisted it to me in a toasting motion before taking a sip from it.
“It is wonderful to meet you, Mr. Otis.” Horus murmured, his gold bracelets jingling against each other as he held a hand out for Uncle Otis to shake. He hesitantly took Horus’ hand gently and shook it. I smiled again and sat down beside Horus, tucking a lock of his brown hair behind his multi-pierced ear. The sparkling gold was a beautiful compliment to his warm skin.
“It’s...nice to meet you too, Horus. I see you can...drink blood as well.” Otis said awkwardly, still not too sure about this part of my life. But I didn’t care, just having Horus here made me feel so much happier, so much more sure of them.
“Yessir. I am a dhampir after all. Though, I much prefer the taste of my Queen’s and the Princeling’s. But I don’t do such an intimate act in public. Speaking of our Queen, where is she? I brought some paperwork from home that needs to be filled out and sent back.” Horus murmured, holding up the briefcase he’d carried in with him.
“A dhampir? Isn’t that a term for a half vampire?” Otis asked, frowning deeply. Horus took a deep drink from the mug.
“It does. But I am not half human like our little Princeling.” Horus said, turning to me for the answer to his question that Otis had ignored in favor of his curiosity.
“Vary left to get some liquor while I was in school. She hasn’t responded to my messages either.” I replied, leaning into his hand as he began stroking my hair.
“Well, that sounds like her. She probably still has her phone on vibrate from the meeting back home. You have to remember our woman is forgetful.” Horus said, kissing my forehead lightly and drinking from the mug again.
“I know. I just worry. I’d worry for you too. I lost my mother and father...I couldn’t bear to lose either one of you.” I said, feeling the well of emotions I tried to keep to myself. But the tall Egyptian knew me all too well.
“You needn’t worry for us. We are powerful and strong. It will take someone of equal power to hurt us, let alone kill us. See, that’s her now. Can’t you feel her energy, it flows through both of us, through our blood.” Horus murmured, pulling me up into his lap to comfort me as we heard the roar of another motorcycle pulling up outside. The engine cut and the click of heels echoed up onto the porch. I curled closer to Horus, smiling as our Queen entered the room. She had changed out of her uniform and into a pair of tight leather pants with a silk shirt that dipped in the front to bare more cleavage. If memory served me, it was what she’d worn when I’d first met her. The thought only brightened my smile as her eyes found us and simply lit up, happy to see Horus and I.
“Horus, you’ve arrived!” She squealed softly, setting the bag in her arms down on the coffee table and plopping down across our laps to give him a hug.
“What’s wrong with you, little one? You had our poor Princeling in a panic. You didn’t answer your messages. He worries deeply for us.” Horus said, kissing her nose and supporting her so she wasn’t half hanging off his neck. I shook my head at her, smiling despite wanting to howl my scolds.
“Oh...I’m sorry. My phone’s on vibrate still. I’m sorry, Butterfly. Could you
ever
forgive me?” She purred, rubbing the toe of her shoe against my crotch until I groaned.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I forgive you. Just cut that out. My Uncle is right next to you.” I exclaimed, blushing in embarrassment.
“Mm...I suppose I’ll have to wait till bedtime then?” She pouts seductively, grinning at me as she ran her tongue over her demon fangs.
“This is strange...I’m going to...just leave it and go home. Just...try not to terrify Nelly with whatever you three end up doing.” Uncle Otis said, getting up and heading for the door. What was I going to do with her? Such a crazy Queen I had hitched myself too.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Variel’s P.o.V.
I giggled softly in surprise when Horus stood, hoisting both Vlad and I in his arms as if we weighed nothing. Vlad let out a soft squeak of his own surprise, blushing softly.
“Hmm... Vlad, where do I find your bedroom?” Horus purred, nuzzling the blushing half blood.
“Upstairs, door on the right.” He said, shivering as Horus playfully dragged a fang along his skin. Horus grins at his answer and eagerly takes the steps two at a time. Soon, Vlad and I were spilled across the sheets, Horus grinning still as he looked down at us.
“Mm...This is quite the reunion. Let’s play until Ms. Nelly arrives.” I declared, smirking as Horus unbuttons his stark white vest that covered his otherwise bare chest.
“Hmm...I’ve never been allowed to play while the Princeling is present. But I will happily watch my Queen and her prince play.” Horus replied, dropping his vest and pulling up the desk chair, putting a leg up on his knee. I looked at Vlad, watching him looking lustily at Horus’ chest. I grinned softly and dragged the younger dhampir into a heated kiss.
“Mmm, how’s that sound? Hm, wanna play?” I asked, purring against his lips as I kissed him, running my hands down his t-shirt, tugging on the hem playfully. His blush returned and deepened.
“Yes...always. I’ve missed you so much.” He murmured, voice breathy. He looked back and forth between me and Horus, “How does a consort position work when the queen marries? I know they serve both the king and the queen...but how does it work with how he serves you? Will you two still...have sex? Do consorts ever have sex with the king?” Vlad asked suddenly, making me blink in surprise, then laugh lightly. Horus himself looked just as surprised by his Princeling’s question. The most intimate things they ever really did with each other was Vlad sitting in Horus’ lap or Horus drinking Vlad’s blood. I don’t think either of us had expected such questions, but they made sense.
“Once we’re married, it will be your decree whether or not consorts are still allowed to pleasure their queen. You may also, as king, get your own female consort to have sex with if you so please.” I explained gently, smiling some.
“So it would all be my decision. But it’s your kingdom. I don’t want to take your power away from you…and I wouldn’t want any female other than you, Vary.” Vlad said, blushing deeply.
“You won’t be taking my power from me, it’s something we can discuss once we’re married. And if you don’t want any other females, why worry about consorts having sex with the king?” I asked gently, kissing his jaw to soothe his nervousness.
“Well...I meant...we...is homosexuality or bisexuality looked down upon by your people?” He asked, stuttering and rubbing the back of his neck without looking at me.
“No, of course not. It’s unusual for a king to be either but it happens. Why do you ask?” I asked him, frowning softly. I want to be sure he meant Horus before I just jumped to conclusions.
“Well...Horus will serve us and...well...nevermind...forget I asked.” Vlad said, looking like he was feeling awkward.
“I would be honored to serve you sexually as well, my Princeling.” Horus purred, leaning over the bed to kiss Vlad gently. Vlad blushed deeply and kissed him back, shyly resting a hand on the other male’s shoulder.
“You have nothing to worry about with us, Vlad. We will take care of you, for all eternity.” I promised, biting my lip at the sight of the two men kissing. Horus’ deep chuckle resonated as he pulled away from Vlad’s lips.
“I can smell our Queen’s arousal. Go on and play with her, love.” Horus purred, nipping Vlad’s lip lightly. Vlad blushes again and nods, letting Horus go almost reluctantly. I grin and pull off my blouse before pushing Vlad back and start unbuttoning his jeans.
“Hm...why don’t you taste our prince while I pleasure him. You were complaining that you missed his blood and company before I announced our trip to see him.” I said, pulling Vlad’s pants and boxers down his hips, his semi-hard cock springing free.
“You really missed me? So much so that you would complain about my absence?” Vlad asked, blushing furiously.
“Of course, my Princeling. You were off limits to me, but for your blood. That was allowed and I felt one with you, if only for some time. I love you as much as I do my queen. I want to serve you as long as I serve her, hopefully into eternity.” Horus said, kneeling beside the bed and bowing his head to the boy sprawled across it. Vlad reached his hand out and tipped up Horus’ chin.
“Well, I’m not going to be off limits now. But you can drink from me, Horus. I have always enjoyed sharing blood with you.” He murmured softly, smiling. I grinned and grasped his cock, leaning down and licking the tip. He moans, shuddering in pleasure and I felt the bed shift as Horus climbed atop it. I rolled my eyes up to see our consort leaning over our prince, kissing him deeply. Without looking away, I slid my lips around the head of his cock, sucking lightly, enjoying the muffled sounds that Vlad released against Horus’ lips. I watched the two as I took more of his cock between my lips, licking lightly as Horus nipped Vlad’s lip before pulling away and kissing down his jaw to his neck. The two were such a wonderful pair, warm tan against cool cream. Vlad’s moans grew louder as his body jerked from the sudden pierce of fangs into his flesh. I blushed, delighted by the sight as I took all of his cock into my mouth in one motion and slowly began to bob my head, tongue lapping along the underside eagerly.
This was always my favorite part of foreplay, but to add that wonderful sight to it, I could hardly hold back. As soon as I felt Horus pull back, glancing up to watch him lick his lips and see the little spattering of blood on the side of Vlad’s neck, I slowly pulled up off of Vlad’s cock. Vlad whimpered from our abandonment, his eyes glazed with pleasure.
“That...was so wonderful.” He panted out softly, his cock twitching wantonly. “But I want more.”
“Mm...we’re far from done, my beloved.” I replied. Horus grinned, sliding off the bed to return to the chair next to it. He still had a droplet of blood glistening at the corner of his mouth, a bulge in his white slacks, unconcealable. Not that he wanted to in our presence. I grinned and began to unbutton and work my way out of my tight leather pants. They were always hard to get in and out of but damn did they make me look good. Vlad slid off the bed to kick out of his pants and boxers. Once I’d freed myself from the leather pants trap, I laid down where Vlad had been, smirking at him as he blushed and climbed up between my legs, smiling brightly.
“I love you, Variel.” He murmured, leaning in and kissing me softly. I kissed him back easily, my tongue dancing with his. I had missed him so much over these last few months. As we kissed, he slid a hand down my side and between my legs. I moaned lowly against his lips as he pressed a finger into me, running his thumb lightly over my clit as he fingered me gently. I groaned and squirmed beneath him, shuddering.
“I love you too, Vlad. Please. I need you. No more foreplay.” I moan pleadingly, wrapping my arms around his shoulders and pulling him closer, kissing him harder. He groans and nods, just as impatient as I, withdrawing his fingers only to press his hard cock against me. I wrapped my legs around his hips and cried out in delight as he thrust to the hilt inside me. I shuddered, bucking my hips against him as we were one for a moment. Then he pulled almost completely out before filling me to the hilt again. I moaned louder as he began a steady rhythm.
“Ahh...It’s been too long.” Vlad groaned, clutching my hips almost too tightly as he plunged into me with no restraint. My next moan was echoed by Horus and I turned my head to see that he had freed himself from his pants, his hard cock twitching from his excitement. The piercing at the tip glinted in the light of the lamp, gorgeous.
“Ahh...yes...too long.” I moaned in response, shuddering as Vlad began to thrust harder into me. I bucked hard, feeling the coiling of my coming orgasm. Vlad’s grip on my hips tightened and I knew he was close as his thrusts quickened further. Then with a cry, I came hard, arching up off the bed as I clung to the half vampire prince. He thrust as deep into me as he could and came with a cry, filling me with warmth. I shuddered, twitching in pleasure.
“Mm...I love watching you two.” Horus purred, panting softly from his excitement. But he hadn’t touched himself, his painfully erect cock standing at attention. I grinned softly and groaned as Vlad pulled out.
“I love you, Vary.” Vlad murmured, kissing me gently. Horus stood and snagged a pillow, tucking it under my hips so they were tilted up.
“Now that you two are planning to wed, you should concentrate on letting his seed take.” Horus murmured softly.
“I don’t know if it’s possible...I mean, even I was a surprise to my people. I was a myth until my birth…” Vlad murmured, looking over our consort with a longing, lustful expression.
“That’s how it always is. It’s either ‘impossible’ or ‘taboo’ to keep from a mixing of the species. It’s old laws and traditions that prevent powerful unions. You’ve heard my family’s story, it’s not a pretty one, yet I’m one of the most powerful of both bloodlines.” Horus explained, sitting on the corner of the bed, still erect with precum beading at the tip. It looked mouth watering and Vlad seemed to have trouble keeping his eyes off it. I smirked softly, and nudged the Pravus prince, garnering his attention and giving him a knowing look.
“Something is telling me we should stop talking about myths. You two have my official permission to play while I’m sitting in the baby making position.” I said, giggling as both men turned red. Or rather Vlad turned red. Just the very tip of Horus’ ears showed his embarrassment.
“If the prince so wishes, I will happily be of service.” Horus murmured and bowed deeply, a hand pressed over his heart.
“I do wish it.” Vlad replied softly.
