Work Text
I sit in darkness, flashes of light and sound piercing the veil ever so often.A woman laughing, young faces slumbering in their beds.Sensations are intense but slow to come. The taste of bitter coffee, someone's hand on my knee.Memories of home, of a life that was rarely mine, even before I came to exist. Nothing has changed there. My strength is growing. In due time, I will raise and break the surface once again because Tom and I are part of a brand new species in the world, and death is not the end it once was.
