Zahard, the god of the sun, was known for being cold and distant even to his peers.
But why?
Why was he the way he was? Despite being the god of the sun he didn’t have a very sunny attitude. Not just anyone knows the reason but Khun Eduan, the god of the moon wanted to find out. This would change his view on the head deity forever.
“Hey! Zahard.” Eduan called out but was met with a disgusted face and ignored. Zahard instead went to talk with another god, Traumerei the god of animals. Eduan was angered so he walked to him and grabbed his arm.
“Why did you disregard me, again?” Finally Zahard looked him. Ever since his first arrival Zahard would purposefully overlook him. Every time he tried to interact with him the other man would walk away. For the love of Phantaminum he hasn’t even heard his voice yet.
“Let me go.” Out of fear he did. He looked at Eduan one more time before he left for the sky. Yet again Eduan failed to get an explanation from him.
He knew he couldn’t force it out.Zahard was far more powerful than him. If he did he would be found died on the side of a mountain.
The god has been downright rude to him at times. A side from not talking to him he would ignore Eduan’s gifts and hard work. But what infuriated him the most was that he wouldn’t treat the other gods as bad.
“Eduan, are you alright?” It was Arie, the god of the winds. He must have noticed Eduan just standing there in the middle of his clouds.
“Why!” He screamed.
“I just wanted to talk to him but he always walks away!” Arie understood what his friend wanted but understood better that his friend would never get what he needed.
“I’m sorry but no matter how much you try you’ll never get it out of him.” He simply told Eduan.
Eduan let those words sink in. It frustrated him to no end.
‘No matter how much you try you’ll never get it out of him.’
‘You’ll never get it out of him.’
‘Get it out of him.’
‘Out of him.’
‘Him.’
Suddenly a switch flipped in his head. ‘I may not get it out of him but I could from the others.’
“Arie do you know who is the closest to Zahard.”
Arie was hesitant to tell him however he knew the moon god would keep asking him if he didn’t.
“The goddess of women, Arlene Grace. You can find her on the red mountain.” With that Edaun flew off to the South area hoping to finally get the answers he needed.
“I hope you won’t regret this, Eduan.”
It was quite easy finding Arlene she was by a cliff watching the village bellow.
“Why hello my lady may I say you look fantastic today.”
“For your information Eduan I am married and have a child.”
Eduan chuckled. “I was just joking my lady however I do need something from you.”
“Well what is it?” She answered still smiling down at a couple dancing together.
“Why does Zahard seem to hate me?” Arlene looked up from the village. She stared at him in awe before looking back at the village below and with a sorry look.“I wondered when you were going to ask me.” She got up and gestured him to follow her.Soon they reached a small garden hidden away in the middle of the forest. She sat down and he did the same.
“I’m sure you don’t remember this place.” What does she mean “remember this place”. He hasn’t even been here before.
“I assume you want to know why Zahard has been ignoring you. He wasn’t always like that.”
“Really? Please tell me what you know.”
She turned to face him and began to tell him the real reason for everything.
Another boring night. Nothing was new well except the humans were throwing those ‘parties’ again. Eduan absolutely hated them and how much noise they make. It was for an important human but he didn’t really care, why would he? They all die anyway.
However no matter how much he disliked these celebration he needed to look after the night. It was his celestial duty. He decided to rest on a large mountain by the South. Coming closer to the forest he saw something.
A bright light.
He had no idea what it could be. So the only way was to look for it. He summoned his spear and went in. A few moments later he heard something a slight rustling. He tightened his grip and spied behind the trees.
“Wow.”
It was a man and he was glowing, literally. He was so bright is filled the whole garden in a yellow shine. It was mesmerizing he couldn’t look away.
The man was mesmerizing himself.
He was watching the fireworks happily.
Eduan wanted a closer look but when he did he broke a twig making a crack sound. Before he could process a needle was flying towards his face. He dodged it instinctively and fell to the ground.
“Who's there?”
Eduan was still catching his breath from the shock he just felt so he couldn’t answer. Since he wasn’t responded with the man stood up and walked towards him.
Well Eduan got his closer look alright and Oh Phantaminum.
Golden blonde hair swaying in the cold wind.Almost bronze tinted skin.
Amazing different colored eyes and soft lips.He could look at him for the rest of the night.
“Oh!” The stranger said in concern as he realized who Eduan was.
“I am so sorry, you must be Khun Eduan the moon god.” He helped Eduan from the floor.
“I didn’t mean to intrude on your night it’s just that I love fireworks and I couldn’t resist sneaking out from the East horizon when I heard them. I understand your tasks and I do not belong here so I will take my leave. I hope I didn’t cause you too much trouble.”
He said sorry once more before flying back to the East horizon. Still a little stunned he couldn’t even comprehend what just happened.
Eduan left the forest and went to a cliff to watch the humans below. He tried to understand the situation. He met an actually glowing man. He was powerful as well, if the needle was anything to go by.
Not only did the man recognize him instantly but he heard fireworks all the way from the East horizon.
Wait… the East horizon. There was only one god that lived in the East Horizon.
The sun god.
Zahard the sun god.
He was face to face with the head deity of earth. He met the most powerful of the gods by falling on his arse.
As he screamed into the palms of his hand in embarrassment. Something else was watching. An entity with red eyes and red hair.
“How was the night Eduan?” Yurin Ha, the goddess of war asked him.
She wasn’t actually worried about him looking like half died soul but she was bored and this felt like a whole story. “Great.” He said sarcastically.
He and Yurin never really got along well. Because of his snarky attitude and her explosive temper their interaction usually never end well. She hit his back in anger and a slightly joking way. “Come on what happened? I’m bored out of my mind.” Eduan slapped her hand away and collapsed on the clouds. “It’s none of your business.” She hit him again on the chest.
“Come on it can’t be that bad, you’ve always been so dramatic.” She plopped next to him as Eduan groaned in pain.
“Yurin there you are!” a voice called…a very familiar voice. “I need to discuss the current state of the black march island. It is your place of worship and sacred land.” Of course it had to be Zahard. Yurin got up and walked over to Zahard.
While they were talking Eduan decided to escape however with his overly vivid blue hair he failed.
“Who is that?” Shit.
He was trapped and there was no way of getting out of this. Yurin was quick to grab him then drag him like a rag doll.
“This is-” Yurin started but was cut off. “Oh it’s you Eduan.” Yurin perked an eyebrow at this.
“You two have met?”
“Yes, just last night. I admit it was my own carelessness and it wasn’t Eduan fault. I really wanted to see the fireworks that night. He was just doing his duty. I think he was about to attack me because he had a spear. I almost hit him with a needle thinking he was an assassin. He was able to dodge it but he fell to the ground.”
Zahard snickered.
Yurin looked at Zahard and then Eduan. She looked at Eduan and back to Zahard. She looked at Eduan carefully then burst out cackling. If Eduan could die at this moment he would.
“So that’s why you look so beat up. So your first encounter with Zahard was when you fell on your butt.
Oh great Phantaminum this is too funny.” She continued to laugh while Eduan was getting ready to stab her with his spear.
“By the way, I hope I didn’t cause you many trouble.” He said since he didn’t get an answer last night.
“It was not a problem at all.” He quickly replied. “I’m glad.”
♥
As Zahard left Yurin looked back at Eduan. He was smiling idiotically with practically heart shaped eyes.
“Come one Mr. Smitten we still need to check in with Hendo Lok.” She said teasingly.
He threw his spear at her. It missed.
The day has ended which means another night for him. He thought about what Yurin said. He swears that woman never gives him a break but seriously to make such a bold claim.
He looked down. The humans were doing another celebration. Are these things even necessary?
He saw something in the corner of his eye. A bright yellow light. He has no idea why but he went to check on it.
Unsurprisingly Zahard was there. He was watching the fireworks again and Eduan was staring at him again. This time though Zahard recognized Eduan.
“Eduan!” He called out.
He was a little dazed as he flew over to the cliff where Zahard was sitting. “Isn’t this just wonderful!”
“If I’m being honest I see it as a nuisance.” He said bluntly. “Really, why do you say that?”
“Everything is so loud and for what. For some human that doesn’t matter. It’s a waste of time and perfectly good wine.” The other god started to laugh and Eduan swears he could see the yellow light slightly getting brighter.
“Have you even been to one of them?”
Thinking about it he has observed them but he never actually been to those festivals. He has been alive for so long yet.
“No.” He said with an annoyed tone.
“Well then how about I show you why humans don’t think this is a nuisance.” He held out his hand and transformed to erase his godly features.Eduan transformed as well and took his hand. “Surprise me.”
Zahard took him first to the food stalls. Eduan had to admit it all looked so pleasing and smelled even better.“Here try some.” It was barbeque. He took a bite and it tasted amazing. He finished it in no time.
“Surprised yet?”
“No.”
Zahard took him to the game stalls next. They had very flashy colors and big letters. “How about this one.”He pointed at an archery game. “You’re good with these types of things right? Give it shot.”He was the best spear bearer out of all the gods. He lost on his first try.He heard Zahard snort behind him. Out of total pettiness he used some of his power and it the bull’s eye. The man gave him a toy ball for winning.
Eduan had a fun time bouncing the ball from time to time.
“Surprised yet?”
“Nope.”
Zahard next showed him the dancers preforming in the middle of the festivities. Their movements flowed so smoothly and gracefully.Jumps, flips, and twirls they all captured him in amazement. For the finishing moves a girl was tossed into the air.She spun around then fell into the arms of her other group mates. Eduan even let out a small gasp when they caught her.
“Surprised yet?”
“Maybe…”
“Alright.”
Lastly Zahard took him to see the fireworks at the best place on the bridge. It was his favorite spot to watch them. So near yet so far.
The water under it made wonderful reflections of the sky.
“Come here.” Eduan walked over to him.
“Weren’t the fireworks done a while ago?” He asked. “That was only the beginning.” Suddenly a large bang was heard and a brilliant firework was shot into the sky. It exploded into a hundred different colors.
Many others soon followed, all of them as beautiful as the last.
Zahard was smiling from ear to ear in happiness. His hair flowing with the winds. The fireworks light covering him a special type of shine. He looked absolutely gorgeous.
“Surprised yet?”
“Yes.”
♥
After that night Eduan and Zahard would always go to festivals together. Edaun swears he doesn’t like them while Zahard just carries the prizes he insist on keeping.
If there wasn’t one they would they in the garden hidden inside the forest. The other gods seem to have taken notice too. Mostly because Eduan always looked so blissful.
“Hey! Mr. Smitten do you hear me?” Yurin shouted at him. Yurin caught him spacing out again. Just what in Phantaminum is he thinking about that could be so distracting? He did hear her and blushed at the nickname she called him.“What do you want?” He said sharply. “You know.”
“Why do you look so cheery all the time?” Eduan hesitated but heavily considered it once Yurin hit him in the gut.
“Geez, its Zahard.” Yurin didn’t look the least bit shocked. “So you’re dating.” A loud silent filled the air as Eduan actually thought about it.
.
.
.
“Maybe.” Yurin gasped in shock.
“What do you mean ‘Maybe.’!” Eduan just stood there. He had never actually out right asked Zahard. They just kind of…did.
“I can’t believe your smart ass is this stupid. Hey!” Eduan started to walk away. He needed to think of something.
He sat there among the clouds at midnight. “Eduan, why did you ask me to come here?” Zahard noticed him and sat down beside him.
“Since there wasn’t a festival today I thought I’d show you something.” He began to summon tiny sparks from his hand. Soon those sparks flew from his hand and into the sky. Fireworks, he made him fireworks. Zahard looked ecstatic however that wasn’t the end of it.
Eduan grabbed him by the wrist and flew him into the fireworks. The sun god laughed in delight as Eduan continued to make fireworks. They dance among the fantastic lights and kept each other close all the way.
“Zahard.”
“Yes?”
He tightened his grip on his hand and began to speak. “You were the one who made me like humans. You showed me the wonders they created. You are the most stunning being I have ever seen. You quite literally light up my life. So-” He was cut off my soft lip against his.
{An Eclipse
♥}
He fell into it. He closed his eyes as he felt the happiness overflow from this moment.
“You make it sound like a marriage proposal.” He jokingly said.
“Do you want it to be?” They both laughed as the atmosphere took them away.
Something was watching them however. Something in order.
The next morning Eduan couldn’t find Zahard. The sun was there but not him. Did something happen to him. If so what? His rampage of panic was very noticeable.
“Where is he!” He barged into Arlene’s home. “For the love of.” She said as she calmed down.
“I can’t find him anywhere! Arlene you’re the closest to him, help me please.” Arlene who just calmed down was now panicking with him. They both had no idea where he might be until he remembered something.
“The garden! Of course.” Arlene tried to question Eduan but he just told her to follow him and he flew off. They reached the garden in the middle of the forest but it was empty. Only a few flower and weeds were there.
Eduan fell to his knees and began to cry. “Shit.”“This can’t be happening. Please tell me this isn’t real.” Arlene stood by him not knowing what to do. She was worried too. Zahard only went to one other place but he would never unless…. Arlene grabbed Eduan by his hand.
“Wha-”
“It’s your turn to come with me.”
They went to the center of the earth. The Equator where everything is balanced yet unbalanced. “Zahard!” “Arlene!”
One spoke with relief while the other one fear.
“You both need to leave.” He said. “I’m not leaving you.” Eduan stated as he step closer to what seemed to be a ball of powerful shinsu surrounding his lover. “I’m sorry but you need to leave especially.”
“Arlene don’t inform the others about this situation.” Arlene nodded.
“It seem I have some uninvited guest.” An unfamiliar voice spoke. “Who are you?” Eduan asked it.“You speak my name so carelessly yet do not know who I am?” The thing smiled.
“I don’t have time for this, just what do you want.” It stepped closer to him.
“It’s you. You started all this. You created that horrible eclipse.”
Angered Eduan screamed. “What do you know! I’ll kill you right here and now if I have to.” He summoned his spear but the creature only laughed. “Bold weren’t we.”
Zahard was yelling at Eduan to stop but the bubble kept him silent.
“Eclipses are dangerous to humans and were an accident. It was never meant to exist.”
He didn’t care at this point. “I’ll make you regret saying that.” It laughed again. “I think you’re mistaken. I’ll make you eat those words.”
Zahard cried out for Eduan to stop but the person who heard him was himself.
Summoning multiple spears he attacked whatever that things was but before he could even blink.
Slash
His skull was cut in half. He went unconscious falling to the floor.
“Eduan!” Phantaminum let the sun god out of the shinsu bubble. Zahard tried to heal him to no avail. He held him close and unknowingly began to sob.
“You are free Zahard. I have nothing else to do.” Phantaminum disappeared.
He didn’t even say anything as he cried and cried. “I didn’t think he would go this far.” A woman with red hair and red eyes appeared from the shadows.
“Follow me I might be able to help you.”
Knock Knock.
“Come in Hwaryun. So how wa- oh my.” The red haired man said. “Is this?” Hwaryun nodded in response. Zahard leap forward.
“Please tell me you can help him. The girl said you have the power to do so. Please I need him back.” He weep helplessly. “Yes I can but I comes with a price.” The red haired man said.
“I’ll do anything. Whatever it is you need I’ll give it to you. No matter how difficult it is.”
“Hwaryun I need crimson needles.” She hummed as she went to the back of the room. “Are you sure?” He asked one more time.“Positive.” Zahard declared. The man gave him a sorry look.
“Well then…I need his memories.” Zahard was confused. “What do you mean?”
“If he is a god that means I need to completely revive him. With that I need to remove his past to create a new him. That means all his memories up till now will be removed. This includes his memories of work. His friends. And of you. Most importantly you must not speak to him about it or it will be broken and he will die again.”
Zahard felt his heart sink however he knew what he needed to do.
“Please bring Eduan back.”
By the time she was done speaking it was midnight.
Eduan sat there totally dumb founded by Arlene’s word. He couldn’t believe it.
“He still loves you dearly but he fears if he even says a word about it to you…you’ll fade away again.” Just then loud bangs could be heard nearby. Arlene smiled to herself.
“Would you like to watch the fireworks?” She asked him.
“Thank you but I have someone I need to talk to.” He answered her.
“Good luck.”
"Wow! tell us another one." Boro exclaimed excitedly.
"Maybe another time." Sachi said calming his student down.
