"We have to send her away, Frigga," the Allfather murmured, gazing out the palace window. His fists clenched, nearly turning pale with the weight of the decisions ahead. With a grave expression etched upon his face, he closed his eyes in frustration. Tonight, the sky seemed especially celestial, adorned with countless wonders as the stars gleamed brightly, taunting the King with their beauty. In a world built on broken promises, beauty felt like a glimpse of a wistful dream. The hurried footsteps echoed rhythmically behind him. He recognized the steady cadence of those steps, a companion for the past 300 years. Yet, the Queen had never seemed this restless before."It will destroy him, both of them," her voice quivered, repeating the same sentence until the words dissolved into broken syllables, swallowed in her anguish. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on her, but she refused to dwell on the unforgivable consequences it would bring to those she held dear."Not if they don't remember her," the King proposed, the air thickening with the weight of his words."We've kept countless secrets from Loki; he'll resent us forever," the Queen sighed, her regret palpable as she clasped her hands together, memories of her reassurances to Loki swirling in her mind."It's the only way. For the safety of the nine realms," Odin insisted, striding towards her and taking her hands firmly. They needed to be united in the decision that would alter their world forever."And for hers," Frigga nodded, willing herself to believe it, though her expression remained somber."Where will she go?" she inquired, glancing at the starlit sky outside. The stars shone exceptionally bright tonight, prompting her to wonder: would they be watching the sky?The question lingered, but the answer was clear. Of course, they would be. It was one of their most cherished traditions, Frigga herself having taught them to admire the patterns of stardust and constellations. Would this be their final shared moment under the stars?"Somewhere far from Asgard. Somewhere safe and content," Odin declared after a tense silence, his resolve unwavering."Midgard."
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
"Okay, Mr. Stark, this time I'm actually going to fall!" a voice yelled from the top of the building. It was nearly indecipherable, blurred and lost in the unforgivingly harsh wind whipping across the city. Distant sounds of cars honking and the loud chatter of New York buzzed below. There stood Tony Stark, floating mid-air, grinning from ear to ear in his infamous Iron Man suit. Directly in front of him floated a young girl, desperately trying to mirror his actions.Infinity's body staggered from left to right as she struggled to stay afloat, the wind serving as an irritating hindrance. The edge of her fingertips emitted a purple glow, an inkling of her powers as she tried to balance her weight. The determined concentration she had moments ago was replaced with panic and silent screams."Okay, let's try not to fall to our deaths. That comes later on our to-do list today," Tony chided dramatically, eyeing Infinity closely, who gritted her teeth in response."Shit, Mr. Stark!" she yelped as her strength gave out suddenly, and she plummeted to the ground. With air whistling sharply in her ears, she desperately sought the metal suit, but found nothing as the sidewalk loomed closer."If I die like this, I swear to God I'm haunting you for life."Just seconds away from collision, Tony scooped up Infinity. Her chest collided with the cold metal as he sped across the skies towards the Avengers Tower. After landing safely, Infinity exhaled a sigh of relief, clinging to the metal railing to steady herself."You know, you really don't have to wait until the last moment," she said, trying to catch her breath."Where's the fun in that?" Tony replied, ruffling her hair as Infinity swatted him away and collapsed on the couch. The sound of elevator doors opening interrupted them as Pepper Potts entered the room. Tony's personal assistant and one of the few people who never ceased to make Infinity smile."So soon?" Pepper asked with a raised eyebrow, kissing Tony's cheek with an expectant look."It was unfortunately short, since someone kept making unhelpful comments. But I did it, like actually flying," Infinity admitted excitedly, still high from the adrenaline rush."Well, unlike my arrogant boyfriend," Pepper said, "I am very proud of you.""Hey, who said I wasn't proud?" Tony interrupted, eyes fixed on the news alerts on the screen."We have reindeer games coming in today, the lesson had to be short."Oh.Oh, fuck.It had completely slipped Infinity's mind. They had been briefed on it already; the Battle of New York had only taken place less than a month ago. The repercussions were still echoing throughout the city."So, the God of Mischief will be locked up here for a week? It's finally happening," she said, trying to conceal her eagerness."Yeah, no kid. You'll be nowhere near that nutcase. He's dangerous. We're just keeping him here for a week for protocol before his brother takes him back to their planet and deals with him there," Tony said sternly, pointing a pen at her.Infinity rolled her eyes and strolled over to him, patting his shoulder. "You do know that I'm this person with these awesome superpowers and could easily take on any of the Avengers?" she stated matter-of-factly.Pepper chuckled, shaking her head, and Tony only shook his head in disbelief."Easy there, squirt. While I'm aware that you can kick some serious ass, we still don't know the extent of your powers, and he's a god. I'm serious, no messing around," Tony said firmly as she groaned loudly."Fine," she said, dragging out the syllable. "I won't mess around. I'll be serious," she said, putting air quotes around the last word, which went ignored by the two due to an alert popping up on the screen."Good, because he’s here," Tony said, turning around and walking back to the bar as Pepper kissed him for luck while waving at Infinity."Get ready. Jarvis, call everyone else to the cell," Tony instructed the room."Right away, Mr. Stark," the robotic voice answered. Steve and Nat were taking care of the damages throughout the city and upstate, while Clint was off with his family after this big fiasco.Tony stepped over the mechanism as the machines started gearing up the suit he had just taken off."Wow, okay, alright, here we go," Infinity breathed out while tightening her suit. It wasn't anything fancy, just simple tactical gear. Standard training outfit. Mr. Stark hadn't officially made her an Avenger yet, so the cool clothes would have to wait.It had been five years since she'd been here, and the wait was starting to get on her nerves."What's his name again?""Loki," an unfamiliar sensation rolled over her body when Tony said that. A knowing tingling."I feel like I've heard that name before," she muttered, trying to place it."He just attacked New York, kid. He's been all over the news," Mr. Stark said, walking past her to the elevator."Yeah, that must be it."The hallway seemingly went on forever, brightly illuminated by fluorescent lights on each end until Infinity saw the cell. Or, well, she assumed. There was a clear energy shield in front, preventing escape. Behind the forcefield was a table mounted with stacks of books she couldn't quite make out. In the far corner was a fair-sized bed with a small wardrobe next to it. Each inch of the room was polished and pristine. It looked more like a well-kept hospital quarter than a holding cell."We're being nice to him, why?" she immediately asked, falling into place next to Bruce, who released an annoyed sigh."Because Cap insisted that if we’re nice to him, we might have an edge," he gritted, clearly unhappy about the situation."He did try to kill us all less than a week ago," she pointed out, as Tony groaned from the front."Yes, but this is probably our best bet before he's gone from Earth for good. Force clearly doesn't work on the guy," Tony said reluctantly, and everyone quieted their complaints.Infinity had been in the tower for a good amount of time, so having relationships with the individuals was expected. Even though she couldn't go out in the field directly, she still helped on the missions from the tower. The guy in the chair. For now."Thor isn't going to bring him?" Bruce asked once he saw multiple agents dressed in suits and armed to the teeth pouring into the corridor one by one. They looked exactly like the black op agents from every movie Infinity had seen since she had been here. It was extremely cool to have your life be a movie when you lived with Tony Stark. As much of a shock as it was, Infinity had never met Thor in her life, and to be honest, she was intimidated by the God of Thunder. Most of his concerns revolved around multiple planets, barely involving Earth. It would be accurate to assume he wasn't aware of her existence. No one knew her besides them. Mr. Stark had always been cautious in concealing her identity, something along the lines of safety and secret weapon.Very unconvincing, if she may add.Tony Stark was many things, but a good liar? Absolutely not."He's bringing him back at the end of the week, not delivering," he said, looking back and making bored gestures at the statement, as if he didn't really agree with the plan. The troops of guards finally came to a halt. The sea of black parted to reveal a man stepping from between the flanks. He was surprisingly taller than Infinity had anticipated, around six feet or so. Dressed in black and green armor lined with gold, he had his hands clasped together in chains connected to a collar towards the neck.Sort of how you would chain up a rabid dog.I mean, the comparison isn't totally far off.His skin was a pasty white, almost the color of marble but without the warmth. Slicked-back black curls rested on his shoulders, and his emerald eyes were filled with irritation as he finally stopped walking.Something was wrong. She could feel it."Ah, hello. It's been a while," a deep, elegant voice came past his lips. His eyes raged with anger, but his tone was laced with smugness, as if he had been the one who won. Every Avenger stood with their weapons bared, while she leaned against the door at the far back, blending into the shadows and observing quietly. Infinity had no intention of making her presence known.Yet."It sure has. Seems you're still very defeated," Bruce bit back with a stoic expression. Loki made no indication of acknowledgment at his statement as he turned to look at his new residence."Such hospitality, oh my. Seems I've left a rather nice impression.""In you go, rock of ages. We don't have time for another one of your tricks," Tony shoved him inside after taking down the energy field and immediately putting it back up again as soon as Loki was in.He reached out his hands and examined the force of the shield with a thoughtful expression as Mr. Stark signed some documents the agents had provided.Infinity stood behind the rest of them, getting a closer look at him. She saw his eyes scanning every person until they landed straight on hers. Something flashed by in his eyes as he visibly stood confused. Like something had washed over him."Who are you?" Loki demanded calmly, out of pure curiosity. She made sure her face remained emotionless; even if she had never been out in the field, letting your emotions show was one of the biggest mistakes an agent could make if they didn't have an ulterior motive."Why does it matter?" she raised a single brow, walking forward, arms crossed over her chest. The only sound was her shoes stepping on the stainless floor as a silence fell. The rest did not attempt to stop her; this was nothing."It doesn't. An extra death wouldn't be that troublesome, anyway," he smirked coldly as she ignored his comment. She had heard worse, but it left an unsettling chill in her bones, which she shrugged off."Then we’re done here. Welcome to your new home," she simply said, retreating to the back. Never taking her eyes off of his, glares fixed on each other."Let’s go, we’ll be working on shifts to watch this asshole later," Tony called out as everyone started walking away from a smiling Loki who cheekily waved goodbye. It had barely been five minutes, and he had managed to get on every single person's nerve, including her own.Infinity was following behind but stopped in her tracks when she heard him mutter some incoherent words to himself."Intriguing."She turned around and saw him already staring at her with hooded eyes. That unfamiliar chill washed over her again. With one last dreadful look, she left the God and her confusion in the cell. The mysteries with mischief could wait for the next seven days.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
It was a normal evening, well a normal new york evening. As the sun descended into hues of orange and violet multiple men dressed in suits tore through it running in the street. Each carried suitcases in their hands and aggressively shoved people aside. Right on their tail flew Iron man, whizzing past on the path three times faster. It was only a matter of seconds before they were caught, only the men kept disappearing into alleyways where the metal suit couldn't fit into. Smart, annoying bastards. One of the men stumbled into someone while trying to hide in one of the narrow passages. The impact had both the people tumbling down on the ground, as soon as the guy got up he scrambled in search for his suitcase before relaxing when it came into his vision, lying at the feet of the person he bumped into.Trailing his eyes on the figure's face he saw a young girl, no older than maybe sixteen, seventeen? Her face was covered in patches of dirt, her clothes were old and worn out, as if she had just been through a very car wash, but the opposite. He looked in her gray eyes that stood hard and curtained by the disheveled hair.“Just give me my stuff and we won't have a problem.” He firmly demanded while reaching for his gun shoved in his shirt. She eyed his hand before stepping in front of the suitcase, making her intentions clear.“I warned you.” He gritted his teeth in anger before whipping out the gun and firing three bullets straight at her. The shots rang loudly through the alleyway and smoke trailed from the barrel. When he put it down, he saw her standing perfectly well and alive. The bullets however were frozen in midair, right in front of her outstretched hand that glowed purple. The girl closed her fist and the frozen bullets dropped to the ground as the man masked his shock.“So you're another one of the freaks.” He said in disgust, more of a statement. He braced himself to fire again and before he could, a large figure landed behind him with considerable force.“Games over.” Tony Stark said, pointing one his blasters at the guy, who stood terrified. He shifted his eyes over to the girl and saw the suitcase behind her. “This definitely isn't over.” He broke Tony’s gaze by launching a smoke bomb blinding everyone for a few seconds. When his vision returned there was no sight of the suited man, only the girl, and surprisingly the suitcase remained.“Who are you.” He firmly asked, still having his blaster ready and aimed at her. “You're Iron man right? You're one of the good guys?” She asked slowly, a hopeful edge to her voice putting her hand down as the glow faded.“Something like that.” She stepped away from the suitcase and shrugged, spreading her hands. “Then I guess it's all yours.” Tony looked at her suspiciously before grabbing the suitcase and opening it to find the stolen contents right there. One of the rouge shelf agent forces had tried to steal; the arc reactor, despite there being dozens of it with Tony, even one was enough to be a serious threat if in the wrong hands.“How did you do that magic thingy.” Tony asked once he had confirmed the contents of the suitcase. He stepped forward, but this time he wasn't aiming anything at her.“I, I honestly don't know. I just woke up here a couple of weeks ago and heard about you in one of the old newspapers. Figured you could help me or something like that.” She answered honestly as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.“No memories and powers, huh.” He more or less said to himself before looking at her again.“Is there anything I can call you by? Any name?”“I remember my name, the only thing I do.” She ran her hands through her ruly hair in befuddlement.“Which is?” He said impatiently looking around them.“Infinity.” “Well, Infinity, you and I are going on a little trip.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Why exactly are the guards not watching over him again?” Bruce asked nervously, glancing around the room.Tony had called everyone in for a meeting to discuss the shifts each of them would be taking.“There are guards on every entrance to his floor, we just need someone one of us checking up from time to time because if he does manage to pull some shit, I suspect bullets will only be a minor obstacle between him and escaping.” Pepper explained as he pointed in her direction in agreement. “Well most of us aren't available anyways, and you and I still need to push through with nanotechnology.” Bruce pointed out to Tony while pulling his lab coat closer. He always got skittish when he was nervous.“What about me?” Infinity spoke up suddenly as Tony rolled his eyes in exasperation.“No wait just hear me out before you say no okay?” She pleaded, getting up with determination as he hummed, willing to listen to whatever she could say that might convince him.“I'm the one who knows all the routes to his floor, I can easily manage if he does escape and call you guys, and I literally barely have anything to do these days.” The last part was more of a whine but the room fell silent for a couple of seconds.“I mean it does seem perfect.” Pepper broke the silence gesturing a hand towards Infinity as her hopes sparked up. Everyone looked at Tony, a long silence as he nodded once, attention already shifting away. “You still have that emergency bracelet?” He asked as Infinity held out her hand. Across her wrist laid a simple metal band, Stark had given her this on her second year. If she pressed the center, an alert would be given to all avengers. It was just a precaution, one she had never used.“Fine, it's not like you'll be useful in the lab, you know about nano molecules as much as you know about when to stop.” Tony shrugged as Bruce tried to cover up his chuckle with a cough.“Rude, feelings.” Infinity half heartedly protested while pointing at her heart with a grin plastered on her face.“I still don't know why we’re going out of our way to make his stay here as pleasant as possible, don't you think the books were over the top and now what? Professional meals? He’s a murderer.” Banner bitterly expressed his hate for the green eyed God.“He’s a murderer, we’re not. All his punishments wait on his planet, it's not like he's going to use our hospitality as a way of escaping.” Pepper reasoned while walking back to the elevator.“And you probably just jinxed it.” He sighed while she rolled her eyes, the elevator doors closing in on her. Bruce was just anxious and skeptical, and it looked like he had every reason to be.“What?” He asked when he saw Infinity chuckling to herself.“Punishments, kinky.” She giggled while he shook his head with a smile on his face. “Jeez kid, we’re talking about Asgardian consequences and you say kinky.”Every hair on her body stood up.“What did you just say?” Infinity asked in all seriousness, no hint of the previous humor detected in her voice. “Uh, Asgardian consequences? Loki’s home planet? The people there don't take lightly to treason.” Bruce explained, slightly confused at Infinity's reaction.“Asgardian..” She whispered to herself. A wave of confusion disarmed her, where were these emotions coming from. The words seemed all too known and yet strange at the same time. She could already feel a slight headache forming the more she thought about it. ************************************************“Okay here we go.” Infinity said to herself, jumping a little to be more aware. She was confident that there was no way she'd mess this up, especially if it dealt with enemies. She pressed the number 26 on the elevator before it started moving downwards. Floor twenty six was specifically designed for Loki and Loki alone. It had only two entrances, the front and back. Deadly Blue force fields for doors had two guards on each end. Security Cameras on every corner. It was almost impenetrable.Stepping out the elevator, Infinity saw guards standing firm on each corner with expressionless faces. She stepped Forward and they pressed a few buttons, taking down the energy field and letting her through. As soon as her foot was through the boundary, the wall was back up again. Her footsteps echoed in the hallway as she glanced forward, finally seeing the edge of his cell in sight. With one last breath, she put on her facade. It's Showtime. The keypad was attached to the wall. She remembered the number Mr Stark had told her just in case his cell ever needed to be accessed.0072.She finally made it directly Infront of the room. His back was turned to her, he was standing perfectly still. She wasn't even sure he'd heard her until the words resonated through the room.“And why are you here,” Turning around he fixed his gaze on her, emerald eyes dark and practically radiating with anger. “What does it look like? I brought you food.” Infinity shook her head pointing down to the tray she held infront of her.She figured that the first interaction had to come with a reason, and giving him food was one of them. The tray had some rice with a piece of chicken, some fruit sliced up and a bottle of water. It was nice enough. “What makes you think a God can be sustained by mortal provisions?” He spoke with his hands behind his back, the chains had been taken off because his abilities were drained while he was in the forcefield. Still, not completely vanquished, he was incredibly powerful. “Well, I don't know about Gods but I sure love nutella sandwiches, you should try them, maybe it will take the whole emo evil dark edge off.” She muttered looking at him. So much for her facade.“I beg your pardon?” His eyes narrowed at her words, his irritation rising at the audacity. It was hilarious.“Do you even know who I am and what I can do to you in mere seconds?”“The guy with the bendy horns who was beaten up like a rag doll by the hulk?” She mused tilting her head. Getting on his nerves was quite entertaining.Loki fixed his threatening glare on her, in an instant a wave of green energy blasted from him, smashing the furniture all over the room. Splintered wood roughly impacted the shield, if it wasn't for Infinity's faith that he was locked up she definitely would have taken defensive measurements. Her heart had started beating faster with Loki’s energy jolt, who still had not diverted his eyes from her.“Who are you? I don't recall seeing you the last time I was here in this fortress.” He questioned seemingly having to calm down, maybe that burst helped him release his anger. She should try that sometime.“I don't see how that's any of your business.” Infinity countered, setting the tray on the ground and sitting beside it. Loki raised an eyebrow at her actions.“What is then, you disrespecting me?” He walked backwards, hands still clasped firmly behind his back.“Didnt you start the conversation?” She failed to hide the small smile when she saw the realization dawning on him. The expression only lasted a second but she thoroughly enjoyed knowing he wasn't all attack dog alpha male.“Perhaps I did.” He said nonchalantly, still staring at her. His eyes were fixed on something in the distance,a cold anger burned in them. As for herself? She still had this overwhelming feeling, standing here, looking at him. Like a crucial piece of information was missing from the bigger picture.“What do you hope to achieve by this?” He asked finally, genuine curiosity after a few minutes of silence between them.“Uh, to be honest I was just having fun and well you did start this,” Loki immediately cut her off. “I meant the food you insufferable woman.” He snapped as her mouth formed a small ‘o’ in realization.“Honestly? I don't know about the others but someone told me that when you answer for your crimes it's not going to be nice, so might as well make your stay here not that horrible.” She remembered Pepper's words as he scoffed loudly. Part of her statement was true.Even though he was this incredibly evil person, no one was inherently bad to their core. Every action has a root of reason, every person, even Gods. She would be lying if she wasn't tempted to find out his.“You really expect me to believe that?” He sarcastically feigned gratitude as Infinity rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Believe it, or not. It really doesn't affect me much Loki.” He suddenly paused when he heard his name coming from her, his eyes were intense, searching every movement on her face as he desperately tried to place something.Infinity sighed before getting up and punching in the numbers on the keypad, the energy field lowered, Loki looked at her with amusement as she stepped forward fully aware of the fact he wasn't trapped anymore.“I’d really appreciate it if you didn't try anything, the entire floor is,” “-Armed with traps and your dogs? I’m aware.” He finished for her as she set the tray down on his bed since he had smashed his table into pieces. Anger issues? Check.“Yeah and well, me.” She said with a cheeky smile and walked out smoothly, deploying the wall back up.“You?” He said in bewilderment.“What could I possibly have to fear from mortals, much less you.” He spat as she smiled at him before turning back.“We’ll just have to wait and see now won't we?”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Make sure all the roads are clear, the young Princes are scheduled to leave in ten minutes, we don't want disruptions, understand?” A man ordered the soldiers who nodded and went off to check the needed requirement. He was nearly in his forties, every inch of his body was dressed in Asgardian Armor.“Commander Vidarr!” A frantic shout called out to the man as he turned towards the sound.“The Princes seem to have wandered off.” He informed breathing hard as fear crept into his words and a scowl took place on commander Vidarr’s face.“You had one job.” He said, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration trying to think of all places where they could be, he really didn't want to inform the King or the Queen that he had lost their sons if he valued his job as the head of security.“Set up a search immediately, find them. Now.” He instructed sternly. They were only eight, and couldn't have gone far away. Vidarr searched all over the palace grounds, every inch and there was no trace of them. He extended the search by following the small trail of the castle's back exit that led into the forest and exhaled in relief when he heard the familiar voices.“Come on brother, we have to leave for Morag soon.” The blonde boy called out walking alongside someone the same age as him. “Relax Thor, we haven't been outside in ages, especially this part. Look at all this space.” The raven haired one spread his arms in delight as Thor shook his head at his antics but a small grin spread on his face nonetheless. The Commander chuckled watching the interaction in front of him until something caught the corner of his eyes, a small figure was hiding behind a tree and realization dawned on him of who it could be. Before he could step in, the damage had already been done.In an instant, Loki was lifted off the ground and hung upside down by a rope caught on his feet as he spinned around trying to find the culprit. A small victorious chuckle came from behind them as Thor turned around in defense, his sword drawn.A young girl, around the same age as the boys uncontrollably laughed at them.“You fell for it.” She managed to get out between her fit of giggles as the Commander finally stepped in.“Who are you, how dare you!” Loki tried to shout but his cape covered his vision so he ended up yelling at the tree which gained a few laughs from his own brother once he realized this wasn't a serious threat.“There you are.” Vidarr sighed as the girl's eyes lit up upon seeing him. “Father!” She looked at him in delight as Thor was rendered speechless.“Lord Vidarr is your father?” He asked in surprise as she nodded proudly.“What have you done little one, these are the Princes.” He chided, grabbing a dagger and cutting off the rope that still elevated Loki. Once free and safely on the ground, he took out his own sword and pointed it at her.“These are the Princes?” She asked in realization as her eyes went wide and she hid behind the commander's cloak, he stepped aside revealing her hidden figure again.“It was a small prank, I swear.” She offered with a smile devoid of any guilt and reluctantly Loki put his sword back in with a frown.“Who are you?” Loki poked her shoulder as she stepped away from the intrusion.“She is a lady of course.” Thor said excitedly, bowing in a grand welcome as she looked at him weirdly.“I'm not a lady.” She stated as he looked at her dumbfounded.“Then what are you?” Loki demanded with hands across his chest. “I'm Infinity.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“How’d it go, squirt?” was the first thing Mr Stark said once he saw her coming into the lab. He received a loud groan in response.“How do you think it went, he needs a new table because apparently he isn't done smashing things.” Infinity informed him leaning against the doorframe as he took his eyes off the hologram he was studying.“That bad huh. Jarvis, have someone deliver those things to our goth prisoner please.” He called out to the room.“Right away Mr Stark.” Jarvis answered.“So you're really going to be nice to him?” She raised an eyebrow at his actions.“If I don't want to sleep on the couch I'm afraid so.” Tonu shrugged.“I love Pepper so much, I wonder if I can get her to let me come on one of the missions.” Infinity wondered as he pointed a pen in her direction.“Easy there kid.” He warned as she raised her hands in surrender.“Just kidding.” She wasn't.“I have a couple of hours before dinner and my next demeaning meeting, I'll nap.” She said, rubbing her eyes as he stopped his work for a second. “You really don't have to do this, I can get someone else.” Genuine concern in his eyes. Infinity rolled her eyes.“I have to be out on the field someday, this is a learning opportunity. Even if the person is a thousand year old God who is possibly ready to murder on sight.” **********************************************Infinity was sprawled across her bed, trying to get to sleep but there were too many thoughts roaming in her head, most of them were concerned with Loki. There was a reason behind everything he did. She just needed to break it down into its rawest emotion. Why he was so angry, every word dripped with this utmost hate. More than just the recent defeat. Something ancient and bitter. What made him like that? Sure some people are born like this but there must be something that made him act the way he did. Just, what.Infinity got up and sat down, her room was just like all the avengers quarters. Black and white walls, a bed, a dressing, a large table and chair. She collected a few accessories during the years she's lived here. Moments she wanted to capture on her phone, and thoughts she wanted to write in her journal which was stuffed in one of the drawers. There was no way she was going to have a proper nap, her mind was too distracted by the possibility of understanding his emotions. The only way to kill these hours was to find out more about the fellow she'll be visiting on a regular basis for the next seven days. The first thought in her plan of action was to find his file. There were files kept on each individual, she was sure of the log that Mr stark kept.“Uh, Jarvis. Where can I access the files about Loki?” She yelled out to the room. For a second she wasn't sure this was gonna work but then the voice called out.“I'm afraid those are classified Ms Infinity.” Jarvis politely replied. She stared at the wall for a few moments before speaking again.“Well, if one did have access to classified information, where would one, not me of course, find them?” She tried again. A few seconds passed.“The library on the forty fourth floor Miss.”She grinned in triumph before hopping up on her feet, excited for her own mission. Once in the elevator, she pressed the button and saw her descent from the nineteenth floor. This building sure had a lot of floors. Perks of having too much money.Once Infinity had made her way into the library, she searched the black shelves for the personale files on each person. The shelves were neatly organized, and lined closely to each corner. Pretty sure she wasn't even allowed to be here but might as well make the most of it while she is. On one of the last shelves, she found the entire section. It was arranged in alphabetical order and apparently the letter L was somewhere along the top, many feets higher than where she stood at the moment. Infinity exhaled and extended her hand focusing on the specific file. Soon, tendrils of purple energy flowed from her fingertips and reached all the way to entangle themselves around the gray folder. Slowly the tendrils curled themselves around and pulled it out. (that's what she said)It floated right to the bottom and landed in Infinity's hands. She smiled.Bold letters written on the cover stared back at her.Loki odinson. She looked around for any other people that might have been here and after no trace, she sat down at one of the desks and started reading the contents written on the pages. Let's get cracking.Loki odinson/laufeyson.Laufeyson? Laufey? She read every word of the file carefully, eyebrows furrowed in concentration as the new eye opening information shocked her. There was so much that she didn't know about him. Pieces of information, phrases with important content stood out.Son of King Laufey, frost giant.Adopted by Odin during the battle between the giants.Loki tried to take over the throne once he found out.Fell from the rainbow bridge. Lost in the universe.Retrieved by unknown forces and given the chitauri army to attack New York.Infinity breathed out.Loki was adopted? And he almost died. The alien army wasn't his. Was this all fueled by anger? The simple desire for him to rule? It can't be as simple as that. This was just a mere recollection of events, not a psychological breakdown of his actions.Infinity didn't realize how long she had been lost in thought about this until she saw the darkness outside through the glass doors. Shit, had she missed his dinner? In a rush she returned the folder to its proper destination and hurried back to her own floor. Her anxiety simmered below her nerves as the thought of messing up the one task she had been given on her first day at her. Once she stepped out of the elevator she almost bumped into someone.Pepper.“Woah there, I was just looking for you.” She said placing a hand on Infinity's shoulder trying to halt her movements. “Where were you?” “Doing some reading, I lost track of time.” She answered as the older woman shook her head.“Well it's dinner time. You're up.” ******************************** Infinity glanced at the tray in her hands, the meal was almost the same. She entered the floor and the same routine as that morning was followed. Infinity had a certain goal this time around walking towards him. She intended to find out more about his actions which was dumb but she needed to know. Why? Why did she have this incessant, obsessive urge to dig deeper into him? She had no idea, she just needed to know.Catching sight of the familiar room, she saw Loki sitting on the ground back against the wall and legs stretched out Infront of him. A book in his hands as he softly turned the pages, eyes drifting over the words. His eyes shifted upwards as soon as she walked into view, he made no movement, simply stared at her. Infinity noticed the previously shattered remnants of the wood nowhere to be found and a new desk, almost similar to the previous one, right there in its place. The last tray was untouched, ofcourse. The proud bastard. Infinity sighed internally but smiled slightly when she saw the sandwiches were not there. He ate them.“Hi.” She tried greeting him but it hung in the air as he went back to reading. One of his curls hung over his face and she resisted the urge to use her powers to flick it back.“I thought you didn't like our hospitalitties?” Infinity asked once she had seated herself again in Front of the energy wall. Food next to her. “If I seem to recall, are you not supposed to give me this food and leave?” He said without lifting up his gaze.“Yes but I'm stuck with you for the next week or so, and if it's just me being your Butler. That's for one, sad, boring and anticlimactic.” She caught Loki rolling his eyes at her response. “What are you reading?” She interrupted once more after a few moments of silence. More silence.“Did you try the nutella sandwiches?”No answer.“Do you know how to play rock paper scissors?” She realized that he wasn't going to answer anything that didn't interest his Godly curiosity.“My name is Infinity.” His eyes snapped up to hers when he heard the name. The same emotion flicked through them.“Infinity.” His lips mouthed the word as he stared at the floor. The way he whispered her name, it felt familiar. “The book is called Norse mythology, by Sir Neil Gaiman. Apparently it has the recollection in staying true to the myths and Odin,” He paused in distaste upon saying his fathers name as Infinity perked up at him answering one of her questions.“Odin, the highest of the high. His son, Thor, the incredibly strong warrior and Loki, the cunning manipulator.” He read aloud from the back, scoffing the words out.Fuck, Mr Stark really needed to dial it down. She saw the way his eyes glazed when he read the description about himself, the cunning manipulator. Like he'd heard those words all his life, that he didn't even need a second to digest them.“I wasn't in charge of the book selection.” She quickly said as he stared at her for a second. “I'm aware.” “Is it true?” She tried to push her luck and ask him about the contents of the book. He leaned his head back against the wall.“Does it matter?” Loki said, eyes closed. She could see his Adam's apple bop up and down when he swallowed, the exposed neck giving her a complete view of his pale jaw.Saying that he wasn't handsome would he dumb, but he's also the God who tried to kill his brother and acrually did killed 80 people in two days. So you know, ups and downs.“To me? Yes. Help me understand.” She urged, trying to get him to talk to her anyway possible. Silence.“Loki, why. From what I know, everything that has happened in your life, the frost giant-,”“So that's public information now?” He interrupted, leaning his head forward again, an undertone of rising rage in his voice.“Not exactly, had to go rouge to know all that but, was really knowing that you're adopted enough to prompt you to invade an entire city?” Loki shook his head in anger. “Stop,” he whispered.“To betray your own brother? Your father, your mother?” Infinity continued, she was so close.“Stop.” He said louder, getting up to his feet as she mirrored his actions.“Everything you've ever stood for just for a throne?” “Stop!” He yelled with all his might, a spurt of green energy covering him. His dangerous eyes narrowed on Infinity as he inched closer to the wall.“All I remember was a shadow living in the greatness of my brother, being cast to the side. I never wanted a throne, I only wanted to be his equal. Odin never treated me as his own son, the truth had only made everything more clearer. At least this way, I'm not nothing. This way, they can know who I am and what I can do!” He shouted the words, pounding his fist on the energy shield as Infinity jumped from the unexpected force.Unwillingly, she backed away as the pieces started to connect. Head gave her the last missing piece she needed. It all made sense. His actions made sense as she stood dumbfounded realizing what she had said, she had pushed him to his limit and regret seeped in her mind.“Leave, this instant before I find a way to escape this dungeon and rip your heart out.” He said with a low voice, a promise in his tone. She knew this was coming from anger but couldn't help how it stung. The food still lay at her feet, but she didn't think twice before silently walking away. Just as she was at the edge of disappearing from sight she turned around.“I'm sorry.” A barely audible whisper but she knew he heard it.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Brother, have you seen Infinity anywhere?” A young Thor asked once he spotted Loki wandering the palace halls.“I don't know, why?” Loki stopped and noticed the rest of his friends trailing behind him buzzing with excitement. Fandrall put a hand over Thor's shoulder.“We were going to have a small get together and spend the night in Voltage's chambers. Was wondering where Infinity was, it would be fun to have her around.” Fandrall explained walking back as Loki's eyes lit up.“That sounds fun, let me grab my stuff,” He said in excitement, turning around to grab his bag but by the time he turned back around, all of them had already left.“Oh, oh you've all gone without me.” He muttered. He sat down on the steps, disappointment blooming in his chest. This always happened, no one ever bothered to include Loki. The sound of footsteps from the corner interrupted his trail of thought and he hoped maybe one of them had returned to invite him, but it was just Infinity, he sulked back down.“Why do you look so sad Lo?” She asked, sitting down beside him using his nickname. “Thor and the rest were looking for you, they're having a party of some sorts, they asked for you, you should go.” He said dejectedly as she elbowed him.“Come on then let's go.”“I don't think I'm welcome, they left when I went to grab my stuff.” He said in embarrassment, staring at his feet with a frown.“That's rude.” She frowned too.“Leave them. We'll have our own party.” She said suddenly, getting up and holding a hand out as he stared at her actions in bewilderment.“You're going to miss out on their party? Why ever would you?”“Because you won't be there.” She stated as it was common knowledge.“You're picking me? Over Thor?” He asked softly, confused over his features.“Of course silly. I like you better.” Infinity declared as Loki rose up estaticaly.“What do we do then?” He asked grinning from ear to ear, elated at the idea that infinity actively wanted to spend time with him. Not Thor, him.“I have an idea, get your covers from your chambers, I'll try to sneak some food from the kitchen.” She whispered the plan as Loki silently nodded in agreement.“Meet me on the roof.”“But that's so far up the palace.”“So is the all mighty Prince afraid of some stairs?”“Oh you're so on.” ************************************ “Come on.” Infinity urged Loki who was already falling behind as she climbed the palace roof. “Nits, slow down. It's so high up here.” He used his nickname for her as he followed behind closely. They had to remain quiet so the guards wouldn't catch them. It was exhilarating.Once the steepness of one of the pillars reached a flat top she jumped over it and let the contents in her hands spill. Loki joined her huffing as he threw the large duvet he managed to sneak from his room. It was stitched from golden and sage green thread. Loki's colors. After spreading it out below them, they both lied down, exhausted from the long climb.“This might be one of the dumbest ideas you've ever had.” Loki grinned.“I know, but isn't the view worth it?” She breathed out gazing up at the starry night. The cool breeze enclosed around them as they basked in the moonlight. The village was quiet, it was peaceful. They pointed out all the different planets and stars blinking that were visible from Asgard. All billions of them glimmering in place. They ate the pieces of cake Infinty had managed to score from the kitchen, it was delicious, it was wonderful.“This is so fun, I bet way more fun then Thor's stupid party.” She said sitting up as Loki did the same nodding in agreement and wiping his hands on the duvet.“I'm glad they don't have you, I do.” He smiled as she rolled her eyes in a duh manner. The rest of the night was spent in fits of giggles, smearing cake over each other's face and falling asleep gazing at the stars which would earn both of them a mouthful the next morning. But right now, in this moment, it was all worth it.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Infinity's legs dangled in the air, she sat outside the top floor, the helipad behind her and legs interlocked in the small railing. One thing she was thankful for was the fact she wasn't scared of heights and seeing the city of New York from one of the highest buildings in the night was a sight to witness. She’d been out here for over an hour, feeling the wind blow through her hair and finding the faint chatter peaceful. Her mind kept on repllaying earlier events of the night. Guilt crawled up her throat every time she thought about it.“Hey, what are you doing back here.?” Pepper walked through glass doors and towards her once she spotted Infinity sitting all by herself.“Thinking.” She mumbled, still staring at the City as Pepper sat down next to her.“Does this have something to do with your latest assignment?” Infinity only nodded. Pepper didn't say anything else. After a few moments of contemplation Infinity decided she had nothing to lose by vocalizing her thoughts, maybe it might just get things into a better, clearer perspective.“I tried to push Loki into why he did what he did, and maybe he’s not this extreme villain everyone thinks he is. I feel bad for feeling bad, and for pushing him into something he didn't want.” She started explaining as Pepper heaved a heavy sigh.“He’s a dangerous individual, Infinity.”“Look yeah I know that its dumb and murder isnt justifiable but I think I sort of understand the motive. I’ve been thinking about it all day, he told me himself that he lived in the shadow of his brother, constantly put down. After doing all this, at least he was recognized by the people who had never acknowledged him as an individual. He's fucked up, but he's broken.” She whispered the last part.“Throughout history, only the victors write the textbooks, and they always think they're the good guys.” Pepper whispered as the sentence hit Infinity like cold water washing over her.“It feels like I know him.” Infinity finally said it outloud. This feeling, the familiar feeling. She had no idea how it was possible but there was no escaping it. She had to give it word, space in this world so she could understand it.An idea jolted her from her thoughts. During her third year, Infinity had discovered she had the ability to read people's mind, their emotions. She just needed physical touch to access the person's mind, and considering who she was thinking of trying on, it seemed like an impossible feat. She felt Pepper shuffling and getting back up. “This doesn't seem like a good idea.”Infinity turned head around in confusion.“I never proposed an idea.” She asked as Pepper smiled walking away“You don't live with you for five years and not know what your dumb idea face is.” ************************************************** “Third time’s the charm.” Infinity whispered to herself clutching the tray close to her chest before starting to walk down the corridor. She had no idea how she would get entrance to his brain much less even get him to talk after the last thing he said to her was a vicious death threat. Before she even saw him she heard his voice.“Did I not make it clear enough or is your mortal being that senseless to come here again.”Infinity saw him lying down on the bed, one his legs crossed over the other as he threw and caught what seemed to be a paperweight. The earlier meal she had left last night was gone.“Good Morning to you too.” This time infinity didn't wait for any conversation and pressed the numbers in the keypad as the energy shield dissipated. Loki sat up straight in slight surprise at her actions. “And you're confident enough to be near without me imprisoned.” He mused with a smirk and stood up from his place. She put the lunch tray down and turned around to look at the approaching God, very much aware of the danger she was putting herself in.“I have myself and this,” She held up her hand to show the black band around her wrist.“And I dont think youre that dumb to do anything, well yet.” Loki hummed while continuing his predatory steps towards her.“Based on our limited interaction, it's a risky gamble.” He was only a foot away from her, this could go very very wrong if she wasn't careful about her next moves.“Sometimes a little risk is fun.” Infinity smiled, staring at him. This was the first time she could get a close up look at his features. He was extremely tall, slender and lean. His hair laid in curls around his shoulders as opposed to the slicked back spikes she saw when he first came to the tower. He scrutinized her for a good few seconds, gazes locked until he stepped back again, against the opposite wall. She slid down on the floor and crossed her legs as he raised an eyebrow.“You do realize how incredibly easy it would be for me to escape right now.” He motioned to the clearly unblocked pathway to the hall as she shrugged. If one of the avengers saw her right now they would be losing their shit but they don't, and so far nothing that bad has happened so might as well continue along with her plan. “Either you're really dumb or this is all a plot, perhaps a trap.” He mused while sitting down opposite to her. The room was large, even with his feet stretched out there were a few feet between the two.“Guess we’ll never know.” Infinity smirked, tilting her head as Loki silently scoffed. “I’m sorry about yesterday.” The apology had him rolling his eyes. “What a shock, your mortal consciousness is drowning with guilt.” This time she rolled her eyes. She mocked his words under her breath as he stared at her in bewilderment.“Pardon me but do you not care for your life.” “Oh give it a rest, you're wearing your threats out.” He only galred her but silenced himself.During this silence a million possibilities ran through her head over which she could get physical contact without it being suspicious. The most common one was a simple handshake, even if it wasn't her directly touching his head, a little concentration and she’d be able to dive into it.She uncrossed her legs and got up, planning to make the next couple of minutes go smoothly.“Till next time Loki.” She jutted her hand out as he stared at in disgust and stood up himself.“Rude.” She grumbled. “Oh I'm sorry, being nice to you was definitely on my agenda.” He snapped back as she let out a frustrated sigh.“You know what, fuck it.” She sighed and walked forward suddenly with determination and unknowingly Loki stumbled back at her actions. Before he could realize what she was doing she had already gripped his wrist and closed her eyes. Her mind felt it was underwater, she tried to fight through the layers of protection every mind has but she couldn't get through. This felt so much different than any barrier. She gritted her teeth and pushed her entire strength into breaking through it as she heard a small voice. It was a child's voice and only for a mere second.“I'm glad they don't have you Nits, I do.”Loki's wrist was ripped from hers as a sudden gust of force slammed her back into the wall, she groaned as the pain rippilled through her back, vision blurring, Gaining her senses after a few seconds she looked up and realized this had been a big mistake.“How the hell did you do that.” His face was a mixture of confusion and anger as he advanced towards her with a vicious edge to his entire body. Infinity jumped to her feet and before she had the chance to defend herself he had already grabbed her neck in a firm hold. His fingers curled around her neck and successfully blocked her airway, her feet were barely touching the ground. She watched his face, void of any humanity, quickly change into one of discomfort and pain as he immediately let go of her neck and brought his hands up his own. Both the individuals were on the ground, sputtering and coughing trying to regain their senses.“What kind of sorcery is this, what are you?” He managed to breath out between his coughs, emerald eyes boring right in her gray ones as Infinity wheezed.“You little shit.” Infinity's hands started glowing purple as she stared at him enraged, he just tried to kill her. She pulled her hand back and thrusted forward as an energy blast knocked him off his feet again, simultaneously she felt a searing pain in her ribs as she was knocked over too.She didn't understand what was happening but she wasn't planning to stick around and find out, she dragged her body out of the cell and immediately motioned the energy field to deploy again with the purple tendrils. With a large breath of relief she saw a dazed Loki on the ground, eyes still closed and face twisted in pain from her earlier blow. Why had it affected both of them? Without another word, she simply left before anyone noticed the disturbance, one thing on her mind. What the fuck just happeend.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“It says right here that the last step is to mix our blood together.” A ten year old Loki read from one his mothers ancient grimoires as Infinity cringed.“We already put in our hair, is blood really necessary.” She whined, staring at the bowl which was mixed with both of their hair and a few other ingredients the spell required them to complete. They were hiding out in one of the palace rooms to perform the ritual. “Are you scared?” He teased while closing the book and putting it beside his foot.“Yes, I'm scared, idiot!” She admitted with a hiss as Loki was taken aback by her response. He shifted closer to her and thought of what might help.“We’ve come this far right?” He scratched the back of his neck as she rolled her eyes.“I’m not scared of the spell, I'm scared of cutting my hand.” She confessed as Loki thought for a moment before his eyes lit up.“What if I do it for you?” He asked, pulling out his dagger from his boot and grinning at a wide eyed Infinity. “Not a chance.” She cradled her hand glaring at him.“I’ll be gentle Nits, besides we both know you won't do it.” He pointed out the obvious as she reluctantly put her hand forward.“I don't want it to hurt.” She nervously said as he held her hand over his own one. “I promise it will be just a sting.” He whispered as she nodded and he brought the dagger up to her palms.Gripping it tightly with one hand he started digging the blade in her flesh as she gritted when the first droplet of blood started to show. A few seconds later, he pulled the blade away and repeated the process over his own hand.He enclosed his slash over her hand, curling both of theirs into a fist and holding them over the bowl. The crimson droplets started dripping down, mixed together. Infinity was going to pull her hand away but Loki stopped her.“Wait, take a look at this.” He only said before enclosing her palm in both of his hands as a green light starts shining underneath it. Infinity gasped as she felt tingles over her wound and once he let go, she opened it to see no traces of the previous slash.“Woah, how did you manage that Lo?” She asked in fasicantion still staring at her unmarked palm as he proudly smiled. “Mother has been teaching me some of her magic, that's how I got this book in the first place.” He gestured to the ledger near his feet.“That's so amazing, you can do magic.” Infinity squealed as his smile grew even bigger. Facing the bowl again he opened his palm. “Are you ready?” He asked as she confidently nodded, placing his hands in his as they both closed their eyes. Loki started muttering in an unknown language as both of their wrists started burning. Fighting through the pain, they kept their grip on each other as she felt a bright light through the darkness of her eyelids. As soon as the searing pain dimmed and the flash stopped, Loki came to halt in his incantation and opened his eyes.“We did it.”On both of their wrists was a symbol of some sort. It was an arrow that started with two nocks and fletching and ended up being connected to one arrow head. Over the two shafts were two interlocking circles. It was a geometrically pleasing sight which confirmed that the ritual had been a success. Before the two could celebrate the triumph, approaching footsteps interrupted their short lived glee. Turning around, they saw the Queen.“What have you kids done?” Her horrified expression was enough to scare them both.“We were just trying out a spell, but it worked mother.” Loki hesitantly explained as Frigga kneeled to caress his cheek.“Do you realize how dangerous this one is? It's a blood bond, it could've killed you both.” She sternly said to the both of them as Infinity looked at her feet in shame.“But it didn't mother.” Loki reasoned in defiance, showing his mark as the Queen closed her eyes and sighed.“What's done is done, do you know what happens now?” She asked the kids as they both shrugged cluelessly.“Your souls are intertwined together, if one of you tries to harm the other, you will feel the same force on yourself, sometimes double of it as a consequence. Your minds will be shielded from each other until specific access is granted, do you understand me?” She emphasized her points sternly as they nodded.“I would never hurt him.” Infinity whispered as the Queen patted her hair.“I know my dear, it's not you who I'm worried about.” She said the last part to herself, making sure it wasn't to be heard by either of them. She watched the two run off, laughing as a grave look cast itself upon her face.“One day they're going to regret this.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The bruises had started to turn a dark shade of purple as Infinity traced her hands over them, inspecting it in front of her bathroom mirror. The fingerprints could easily be distinguished, even from a distance. She winced when she put pressure on one of the darker areas at the base of her throat. Her mind was still reeling from the fact that Loki almost killed her, but what was even more vital was the fact she couldn't reach into his memories. Of course she had her doubts whether it would work or not, he was still a God but she hadn't even managed to get past the first barrier of his mind. She was confident that would have been the easiest part of it all, yet the most she could do was grasp hold of a distant sound.“I'm glad they don't have you Nits, I do.”It was apparent that the voice belonged to a young boy, since it was Loki’s mind it was safe to assume that the words had come from a younger version of himself. He sounded so innocent, so happy. This just supported her theory that he wasn't always this cold, calculated killer. Although after what had just happened, she was starting to lose her patience with him.Whoever Nits was, he was evidently fond of that person. At least the child version of him was. Closing her eyes she tried to steady her rapid heartbeat which still had not come down from the adrenaline of being choked to death, and ofcourse having the force of her own powers come down on her. It was clear that when Loki was strangling her neck, he was feeling the same pain, the same force. That was the only reason he had let go and fallen to his own knees. Similarly, her own energy blast had not only sent him flying back, it sent her too. Like a mirroring reaction. Now more sure than ever she knew something was sketchy, something about them but Infinity was not eager to get into another clash with the God of mischief this soon. For now, she needed to hide her damaged neck which wouldn't be much of a problem since casting illusions was one of the things she mastered at.By illusion, she meant small objects or her masking abilities, making replicas of small scale items, not humans themselves. That was something quite complicated and still needed to be practiced a lot. Her attempts at human illusions had always created a disturbing image, deformed face or missing eyes. It was hideous.Holding her hand over her neck, she felt the soft hum vibrating from her skin as a soft violet color started glowing over the area she had covered. Closing her eyes in concentration, she imagined the clean, unbruised skin in her head and focused on making a copy to replace her current bruised skin.A few seconds later she removed her hand and true to her predictions, there was her neck, as clear as well before. She could still feel the pain constricting against her throat but there was no physical evidence of it ever being there. Exiting the bathroom and walking out of her room she rubbed her temples trying to relieve them of stress when loud voices ceased her walking. Peaking through the corridor she saw Mr Stark and Pepper talking about something, and judging by Tony’s furrowed eyebrows it was something important.Without giving away her location, she quietly stepped closer to get a better view and sound from the scene. “I really don't have to go Peps.” He insisted with his hands holding her and she shook her head.“We both know Fury will fly down here if you don't go to him.”“Then let him! The guy has a million helicopters, might as well use them.” When Pepper responded with an amused look he sighed in defeat.“You sure youll be able to handle all of this in a few days.” He gestured around him as she raised an eyebrow in challenge. “Tony, I've been managing you for the past five years, compared to that this will be a piece of cake.” He rolled his eyes, placing his hands on her waist and pulling her closer.“I meant reindeer games, And especially Infinity, keep an eye on her.” Infinity who was listening to this conversation would have had her heart elated at the gesture if only his tone sounded genuine. It sounded more like making sure she doesnt do anything, and not even the playful kind. The accusatory one.Deciding it was time to step in, she walked out of her hiding place and saw both of their heads snapping up to her.“Kid, you do know you're supposed to bring the trays back?” Tony asked with a teasing smile as she paused for a second before realization struck her and she only stuck her tongue out at him.“How’s he doing, any less of a narcissistic big bad wolf yet?” He asked as Infinity plopped down on the couch. “Nope, he's still an annoying pain in the ass.” That was one way to put it.“Oh yeah and squirt, I'll be out of town for a few days, Fury wants to test some tech upstate and I have to make sure they don't blow the damn place up.” Pepper slightly laughed at his comment.“I think your presence ensures that that place is definitely going to blow up.” This time Infinity laughed at Pepper’s very accurate statement which only made Tony roll his eyes. *********************************. Taking another chug out of the bottle Infinity shook her head feeling the liquid burn through her throat. Once Tony had left she immediately made her way to the bar and poured herself a drink, or two, or maybe five. Honestly, she didn't even remember how she ended the whole bottle in her hand.It was around 8 pm, she had purposely felt too drained to have another audience with Loki and Now, here she was, drunk and ready to fight ten Godzilla’s.No wait. Nine and a half sounded better. It was dinner time, and now she felt in a particular mood to piss off the God of grumpiness. Getting up, Infinity walked over to his floor. She cursed disappointedly when she realized she left the bottle underneath the couch, she would have loved to shatter it on Loki's head. After almost falling twice, she finally was in the same corridor as she almost died in. Her mind was too jumbled to register the stupidity of coming here again and especially drunk out of her mind but apparently, alcohol makes her impulsive and the result of that will soon be found out.She entered his line of vision and found him pacing across the room and he halted when he spotted her. She internally laughed when she saw the dent in the corner of the room, her shot had been strong.“What are you laughing at?” He questioned with a glare as she realized that her amusement wasn't internal after all. She only responded with another set of laughter and found him growing even more bewildered at her strange actions.“Stop that.” He snarled and she completely broke out in a fit of giggles, to the point her eyes started to water as he stared at her more closely.“Are you intoxicated?” Loki eyed her in perplexity once her continued laughter confirmed his suspicions. He only let out a frustrated sigh at her actions and waited for her to calm down which took quite a while. Infinity’s eyes crinkled in the corners as the sound of her laughter almost started echoing through the walls. Once it grew quiet, Infinity composed herself and he looked at her silently mouthing the finally.“You did not bring me my meal earlier today.” “You tried to kill me.”“You shot me across the room.”“You were choking me to death.”“Oh grow up.”“You grow up.” Infinity snapped back as Loki just rolled his eyes.“Your attempts were futile and now I know what you're capable of, what exactly is your plan here mortal?” He said with a smirk as she blinked at him. Once. Twice.“How do you use such proper and boring words all the time?” She completely ignored him and tried to put the tray down gently but instead it was tossed to the corner when she stumbled over her feet. “Oops.” She silently mouthed.“I'm a Prince.” He simply stated. “And are all Princes such assholes?” She dragged out the last word as he closed his eyes, gritting his teeth in anger. “Enough, I need answers. That voice, it was me but I have no memory of ever saying such a thing. And why was I affected when I was the one inflicting pain on you, and why were you affected when you were doing the same to me.” Infinity squeezed her eyes shut.“God, do you ever get rid of that stick up your ass, shut up for once.” She groaned as his anger started rising. “How dare you talk to me that way, I am a God.” Loki snarled viciously.“How dare you talk to me that way, I am a God.” She repeated mocking his sentence as the veins in his neck started to become apparent. Even if she wasnt drunk out of her mind right now, this sight would be hilarious. “Do not tempt me this time around or I will actually finish the job.” He threatened baring his teeth as she stared at him and his audacity.“Oh you want a round two your highness?” She challenged, rage dancing in her bloodshot eyes, if Loki didn't know any better he would have been careful how to proceed, but he did know her capabilities, at least to some extent.“You’re compromised, fighting you in this state is beneath me.” He scrunched his nose in distaste as Infinity internally found that adorable. He was like a small lion.“A small lion? What are you on about?”She really needed to shut up her inner monologues. Focusing back on the task at hand, a smile tugged on the edge of her lips before she casted tendrils of energy and shot them at the keyboard, with the circuit collapsing, the shield disabled itself.Fuck, she was in for it later.“Come on, Loki. Let's go right now.” She prodded at him as he stared at this side of her in disbelief. “You're really out of your mind.”“Glad to see you've finally caught on.” With that she conjured up a resting energy ball in her palm as Loki straightened up upon seeing it. Aggressively thrusting her hand forward, it shot right at him but luckily his Godly powers came into use and he ducked at the last moment.“Stop it.” He yelled as if he was trying to make a child stop throwing a tantrum, it looked like that too.Another blast, and another. She kept on throwing her shots one after the other and luckily he managed to dodge every one of them, feeling them slice the air right next to him and leaving sizable dents and craters on multiple walls of his cell.Surprisingly, Loki didn't retaliate a single blow which only frustrated her more. She felt the magic draining from her bones, exhaustion seeping in as unwillingly she collapsed to her knees.Dread filled her chest once she saw Loki stepping out of his room, feeling his powers come back he rolled his neck in contempt. The chains covering his feet dissolved into a green glow and he flexed his fingers with an evil glint in his eyes.“Well, look at how things turned out.” That smirk left chills up her spine. His blurry approaching figure was the last thing Infinity saw before her vision caved in, turning dark and her body passed out on the floor.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Then what's it to you if I know her identity or not!” A twelve year old infinity begged with a raised voice. Her father; The commander of the Asgardian soldiers fisted his hands in frustration. It had been a difficult evening for both the individuals. Today was one of the days where Infinity couldn't put a stop to her curiosity, which only made things inconvenient for Vidarr.“Because it is not meant for you to know yet.” He forced the words out of his mouth, clenching his jaw clutching the edge of the chair with such force that his knuckles started to turn pale. Infinity stepped even closer, eyes shining with unshed tears.“Please father,I need to know who my mother was,” Her hands were clasped together firmly in a silent prayer. They had had the same conversation multiple times in the past, but never one that had led to shouting. She was tired of being in the dark, she wanted to know. She needed to.“That is enough Infinity. There is a reason why talking about her is forbidden in this house, and you need to understand it.” He stared at the ground with his dark brown eyes pleading her to drop this matter, the gray in hers was definitely not inherited from him. His appearance was almost the opposite to her, one might even think she was adopted with his dark facial hair covering most of his face in a gruff way.“You won't tell me that reason, you won't tell me about her, you won't tell me anything!” She ran her hands through her hair deliriously which was now a mess of unruly strands sticking from everywhere. Without another word, Vidarr grabbed his cloak and opened the front of the door. Their house was a quaint little cabin, behind the palace and near the stream. The open space had proved to be peaceful for them both and was much easier for Vidarr’s job.“It's for your own safety.” He said slowly, turning back one last time, regret and sorrow dripping from his voice at her state as he put his cloak up and left her alone for the day. This was how it always went, the same routine, Infinity would have cooled down by the time he was home with dinner. And this cycle would just repeat, over and over again and she was just so tired of it.A scream of frustration released from her throat as Infinity grabbed her own cloak and ran out of the cabin for any sort of distraction from her mind. Thoughts plagued her, constant questions left unanswered, it all felt like toppling over. She didn't know where her hurried footsteps were leading her until she bumped into a familiar body, regaining her senses, she instantly relaxed when she saw none other than her best friend.Loki's eyes ran over her figure as his face transformed into a frown.“What's wrong?” He immediately demanded stepping forward as she sadly plopped Herself down on the grass. He mirrored her actions, still waiting impatiently for her explanation as Infinity sighed.“The same old Lo, father refusing to tell me about my mother, no matter how hard I try. Was she that bad?” She asked with a trembling voice as he scooted closer and held her hand in his own.“You know that's not true.” “But what if it is, that's the only explanation.”“Maybe she was, maybe she wasn't. Her actions aren't going to affect you now.”“Just knowing her is all I want.” She muttered, pressing her forehead into his shoulder as he squeezed her hand.“I know Nits, I know. We’ll find the truth, okay? One day.” They stayed like that for a long while, hand in hand, leaned against each other in knowing silence until she lifted her head from his body.“Even her last name would be enough, then I could have something of her’s. Anything is an improvement on Niggemeyer.” She said with disgust as Loki shook from silent laughter. After pondering for a moment he looked in her direction once more.“How’s Odinson?”“You’re Odinson, how are you?” She questioned as he rolled his eyes.“I meant as a last name.”“Oh,” She said with realization before shrugging. “But I'm not a son, you’re son, thus Odinson.”Loki sat up straighter and held her shoulders with an excited gleam in his eyes.“Doesn't matter, it's nice. It suits you, Infinity Odinson.” A warm feeling tugged in her stomach at her name.“It's nice isn't it.” She matched his grin as he proudly stood up and held a hand out.“So, Infinity Odinson. Will you do the honors of getting into stuff that we really shouldn't be getting into.” She grabbed his hand and couldn't stop the smile from spreading all over her face.“I saw Thor and the rest around the corner, and those rocks look very, very lonely.” She picked one up and tossed it in her hand as they both smirked.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Loki felt the energy leaving her body before she passed out.He was surprised that it only took two days to break out of here, but with the guard he was assigned, he figured that it could have been soon, he just didn't know how soon. And now inally, as he left that horrid cage which dulled down his powers by a great margin, he felt more alive than ever. His mind ran between a million possibilities, he quickly weighed his pros and cons and the best route to escape this tower. Of course, Infinity still laid face first in the ground in front of him. It was very obvious that her drunken state combined with the unnecessary attacks had rendered her body drained. Taking a step forward he nudged her boat with his foot. No movement.“Oh dear, is she dead?” He muttered to himself taking a closer look and observing the rise and fall of her breathing. “Apparently not.”The best way out of here was to disguise himself, maybe there was a flying vessel somewhere within this fortress. It had to be, Stark cant be that dumb not to have one. He looked back at his former residence and put a hand up, a green outline of his figure parted from his body as an exact clone of Loki walked and stood in the cell the same way he had been these previous days.He cast another enchamtent for the shield that his dumb woman had broken.Loki internally groaned when he realized he couldn't leave her or kill her yet, much to his dismay. A leverage was needed to get out of here and she was the key. He closed his fist and ropes appeared out of thin air, with a flick of his wrist they slithered down on the ground and wrapped themselves around her entire body, securing her tightly.A small smirk made its way on his lips when he realized the last time he had cast this enchmanent back in Asgard and it was in a very different scenario from this one.For one thing the woman was actually conscious. Now, completely restrained, he watched her figure slowly rise and suspend itself mid air. With a hand in the air he directed her floating body behind him and started to walk out of this prison. Did anyone really expect the God of mischief to carry a mortal?Even if she was unlike any other humans he had met, she was still a pathetic creature.A pathetic creature who had managed to cause significant harm. An annoying voice rang in the back of his head.Shut up. He told the voice. As soon as he stepped through the doors, Loki didn't wait for the guards to realize that it was their prisoner walking free.Conjuring up two daggers, he shot them straight across their throats. Eyes widened with shock, blood started spurting from the place the dagger had punctured their necks, it spilled from the opening of their mouths as they fell to their knees, choking as the last fight in them died away. With a sinister smile, he walked forward.“Oh this is going to be fun.”Eventually, after many casualties he had found and threatened one of the agents to tell him the location of the space crafts, apparently they were in the basement. Loki had made it very clear, with a lot of details, that if he was lying Loki would rip out his eyeballs and feed it to him.The guard had not been lying. Loki still killed him.Infinity had remained unconscious the entire time, her floating body trailing behind wherever he went. When he finally reached his destination he was extremely glad to have found one of the air crafts he could easily manipulate to his own will. Which just meant he knew how to drive it in shakespearean. The basement was lined with large spaceships, every size and color, standing tall. He picked one at the very far end, a moderately sized fighter jet. Many agents from shield flew this since it was equipped with state of the art weapons and tactical supplies and storage. Suddenly the entire basement was lit up in a red light, a large alarm resounding in his ears as he cursed under his breath. They knew he had escaped, he really should have hidden the bodies. Hurrying, he tossed Infinity’s body on the metal floor of the aircraft. The sudden impact had made her stir but he was too busy staring at the complex buttons in front of him.Once he saw the agents pouring in the room, he had no time to remember the method used to fly this thing and started hitting random buttons, after a few attempts he felt the loud roar of the engine as the gates started to close and the ship came to life.Grasping the throttle in his hand, he pulled it upwards with all his might and at the same time the ship slammed into the building, making debris off cement fall on the agents.“Well, that worked out nicely.” He said to himself and with that as they started to recoil from the sudden masses of broken buildings that collapsed on top of them.Pepper ran in the basement and was horrified to see the spaceship at the edge of the exit, it had been created open in the wall and guards were swarming around it, shooting and yelling but everyone knew it was to no avail. Her eyes caught a figure from the front window, Behind Loki was a tied up Infinity and Pepper’s heart dropped in her stomach. “No!” She yelled, panicked and surprisingly Loki’s head snapped to hers.He smirked and held his hand up to his head in a mock salute. That was the last thing she saw before the aircraft shifted to the right, knocking into the walls and forming giant boulders that came hurling at not only the failing guards, but the rest of the ships that were there. And they took off. ********************************************* A few hours later, Loki threw his head back in contempt when all he saw in his line of vision was darkness littered with planets and stars. He was finally off that god forsaken planet, finally free. His next plan of action was to regroup and evaluate what was going to happen next.By now, everyone on earth would definitely know he had escaped, Thor would be coming for him. He needed to find a safe shelter for a few weeks until the imminent danger blew over. Even he wasnt that reckless not to realize when he was outnumbered.Small groans of discomfort interrupted his train of thought as he cursed under his breath. He’d almost forgotten about the individual that currently blinked her eyes trying to understand her predicament. He wasn't sure if he was going to need her again or not. If they were to catch him, she could be useful, but if she woke up, experience with her had proved that she wasn't such a pleasant partner. Definitely not to him.Her eyes trailed over the gray metal of the spaceship, The blinking buttons of the control board and slowly focused on him. It took her about three seconds to react. Her fingers immediately glowed purple but did nothing to break free against her bonds, the more she struggled, the brighter Loki’s green seidr grew.“Let me know when you're done trying to make a fool out of yourself.” Loki said with a hint of smirk in his voice as he held his hands behind his back, standing directly in front of her.“What did you do?” Infinity snarled, eyes narrowed in anger as her entire body shifted frantically from the strength of her struggles against Loki’s magic. She could feel it loosening up, he had yet again underestimated her abilities, but she wouldn't dare indicate any sign to give herself away.“I did absolutely nothing without your aid darling.” The patronizing tone with the name only made her angrier. “Had I known you were this stupid, I would have escaped as soon as I even stepped foot in that wretched building.” His nose scrunched up in disgust at the mention of the avengers tower.“I was drunk.” She spat at him, still working on chipping away the rope’s enchantment. He responded with a mere chuckle and turned his back to stare at the darkness of their galaxy.“So why am I still here then and not dead in some dumpster?” Infinity asked as his shoulders hunched indicating a sigh.“A dumpster,” He feigned shock. “You wound me, I have higher standards than that. Maybe hung in an art gallery with your limbs torn out, that sounds much better.” He envisioned spreading his hands dramatically.“You seem to be in a much better mood.” She stated, still moving her hands behind her back.“Not being surrounded by worthless mortals helps with that, well there's still you I suppose.” He said the last line disappointedly as she rolled her eyes.“Did you have to tie me up?”“Yes. You would've run otherwise.””So what? Is the possibility of me escaping already bruising your ego?”“I should've gagged you too.” He muttered under his breath.“Why am I here Loki?” She deadpanned.“Call it leverage, call it curiosity, or maybe simple boredom.” He turned around to look at her and saw her hands shuffling behind her back.“Oh, are you looking for that metal bracelet?” He said while twisting his hands and making the band appear. Infinity's eyes widened at this. She had no way to contact anyone for help.“Again, wouldn't have been able to get it without your aid, so I suppose a thank you is in order for revealing your cards.” His cheeky smile was really, really starting to annoy the shit out of her. That was the snapping point as the ropes burst open from behind her back, she instantly extended her hands and wrapped him in a cocoon of purple smoke. The initial attack had caught him off guard but he immediately recoiled and broke free, making shards of the magic splinter the ship.A sudden electric blast shook the spacecraft as they both kept lunging for the other, Infinity tried to grab his legs with tendrils but he jumped over them and twisted her arms and knocked her entire body on the ground. Loki’s face contorted in pain as he felt her pain but he fought through it.With a hard hit of her knee to his stomach, he doubled over and crashed against the control board. This time she groaned when the sharp invisible sting hit her stomach. Immediately red alarms started going off as she looked over the window and saw that they were losing altitude, and fast.Loki was already trying to pull the throttle with all of his strength as Infinity pushed him over.“You're not doing it right!” She shouted over the noise and tried to do the same thing he was doing.“And I’m sure you are.” He snapped looking over the buttons in agitation, trying to find some way but it looked inevitable they were going to crash into the planet that started to become larger by the second.“Why don't you let me take over, I'm clearly the better pilot.” He yelled while he saw Infinity failing at keeping them afloat far worse than he was.“Shut up and hit the buttons.” “You're not supposed to hit them, you're supposed to press them gently.”“Then do it gently!” They both fell to the right as the ship lurched forward, falling at an alarming rate. Both of them were trying their hardest to find some way not to die but none of them were an expert. And that was when they crashed.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Should we really be doing this?” Infinity said as she and Loki ran through the corridors hand in hand. He had a playful grin plastered on his face which was not uncommon for the God of mischief, this time he intended on including his best friend in his antics.“Not at all, and that's exactly why we should.” The sound of laughter echoed through the vast marble columns as they finally halted in front of giant double doors. Straightening out his robes he cleared his throat and held his hand midair.“Well, here goes nothing.” Infinity muttered underneath her breath as their bodies started to shimmer and glow adrift. A second later, where she was standing was an exact replica of Prince Loki.As for himself, an Asgardian guard stood in his place and conjured up a mirror and poked his hair. “This is so weird.” Infinity said as Loki while holding out her hands, they were almost as pale as snow and her skin felt unusually cold.“Are you always this cold?”“Yes surprisingly,” Loki replied as the guard as the mirror folded and dissolved into air. He mock salueted and Infinity grinned.“Time to escort you to the meeting, Prince Loki.” He said in a deep voice suppressing his laughter as she rolled her eyes. “Time for the performance of a lifetime.”The doors opened and the two men made their way inside. A large round table was set up in the middle of the grand room, and occupying the seats were the rulers of another realm. According to their information, there was going to be a political hearing soon and in order for that a meeting would be conducted with the realms that still faced threats.Infinity had always been fascinated by this despite Loki’s constant teasing about her liking boring ruler meetings. Since she wasn't part of the royal family, she wasn't allowed to be there. But of course Loki had other plans.“Ah glad to see you could finally join us,” Odin quipped in a sarcastic tone, eyes narrowing at them entering and Infinity had to repress the urge to roll her eyes.“I'm sorry father, shall we begin.” She said Loki’s voice, taking a seat on the round table as the ‘guard’ assigned to Loki stood behind the chair. The first fifteen minutes was assessing the trade and profit of the provincial cities and any complication that might've been occurring. Now that, she could say was incredibly boring.“Why does Alfiehm remain the constant source of bloodshed in the nine realms?” Odin demanded glaring at the King who looked equally as serious.“The dark elves wont stop their reign until they control all of the galaxy, and Alfhiem is the only major obstacle in their path. The war between the dark and light elves stretches beyond any of us even existed.” The King of Alfheim explained in an even voice but the tension was almost palpable in the room.“I didn't lose my eye to Jotunmheim so that the peace of the realms could be destroyed by these puny creatures.” Odin almost yelled at everyone which made Infinity's eyes widen. That guy really needed to chill.“We have tried everything, but they attack almost everyday, with seemingly larger armies. We need help.” He had a desperate edge to his voice as Odin leaned back in his chair, contemplating.“Very well, the warriors three shall accompany you.” “Along with me and Loki, father.” Thor spoke for the first time, determination shining in his eyes and Odin nodded, mummers of approval following his statement.“Then it's settled.” *********************************Loud roars of laughter rang in the dining hall as men crashed their cups against each other and spilled a good amount of ale. The guests for Alfheim were being treated to the highest order of hospitality to commentarte their visit on Asgard. Loki and Infinity stood in the corner, neither enjoyed festivities like these where men chewed meat to its bone and women fawned over them. They were still discussing the day's earlier events.“For the last time Nits, you won't be joining our little expedition to Alfheim.” Loki said, in his real form pinching the bridge of his nose. For the past hour they had been arguing about whether she should go or not.“I don't care what you say, I'm going.” She firmly said with a nasty glare. She was one of the most fearsome warriors in Asgard, fighting alongside Thor and Loki since they were children. She was better than the warriors three and she knew it. Heck, they knew it.“We’ll see my dear friend.” He smirked and she elbowed him in the ribs.“What are you two upto.” Thor appeared out of nowhere, grinning from ear to ear as he held two cups of ale. “It's a party, you're supposed to, well party.” “I'd rather not.” Loki eyed the alcohol in disgust, he had never been the one to dull his senses for a few hours of serotonin, he could just as easily get that when being around Infinity.“My friend, who refuses this pure goddess during celebrations.” A hand jutted out and took the drink that Thor had offered to Loki. The person downed the drink in a single chug and threw it somewhere behind himself.“I’m sorry, and you are?” Loki asked with a judgmental look on his face at his actions as the person bowed in respect. Thor had already wandered off somewhere, bored of the conversation and Infinity watched the scene unfold with amusement.“Lutheran Hansen, The Prince of Anaheim ofcourse.” He sluggishly smiled in pride, his eyes had a wild look in them and were covered by red rings. He had clearly been drinking too much.“To answer your question, I'm the one who refuses. Now if you'll excuse me.” Loki turned around and started to leave with Infinity before Lutheran called out.“My, My and who are you.” He said entirely too focused on Infinity, raising an eyebrow, she decided to humor the situation, what was the worst that could happen?“Infinity.” She replied as he stepped forward and took her hand with all too much spit, “It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance Lady Infinity.” Before he could kiss her knuckles, Loki stepped in and shrugged his hand off of her.“She’s not a lady.” He barked in anger, pulling them away from the company of that swine.“That was so cool.” Infinity grinned as they walked out of the dining hall, still reeling from the interaction. Outside was the grand staircase. Since everyone was at the party, the grand hall was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. It was their very own peaceful sanctuary. They sat at the foot of the stairs, and Loki placed his head on her lap. It was a small tradition of theirs, it was dumb but it belonged to them.“He clearly fancied you.” He said in frustration, still ranting on about the Prince and how he tried to get close to her.“Oh please, the feeling would never have been mutual.” Infinity snorted and felt his head lift off of her lap.“You seem so sure of that.” Loki asked in a curious voice. “Why's that?”Infinity felt like a deer caught in headlights, she racked her brain thinking of an excuse to avoid the truth but eventually gave up trying to find anything.“Well, maybe I sort of fancy someone else, it's wonderful, maybe even love-” She was rambling wistfully with a dazed smile as Loki cut her off.“I get the point.” He snapped and suddenly got up. His entire mood had shifted. He started walking away from her as she wondered what the hell just happened.“Lo!” She yelled, catching up and turning him around. His shoulders were heaving with heavy breaths and his entire face was sour. He didn't meet her eyes.“Why are you angry?” She demanded holding his shoulders as he narrowed his eyes. Infinity wasnt just going to have him sulk without an explanation.“Because I'm just finding out about this guy that you supposedly love, when were you even going to tell me?” He breathed out in anger, now staring straight into her eyes. Infinity closed her eyes at his stupidity before deciding something.“Because it's you.” She said barely above a whisper as the air stilled. Her eyes were screwed shut as she felt him step back.A million scenarios ran through her head as she internally cursed herself for admitting that. Was this the right time, maybe it wasn't.“You love me?” She heard him say breathlessly, she slowly opened one eye and nodded in response. He stood still as a wondrous smile formed on his face. A hopeful one.“I can't believe this.” He chuckled wide-eyed in disbelief as her heart started to race from the possibility.“What?” Loki ran up to her and lifted her in the air suddenly, laughter echoing in the empty halls as he spun her around in a euphoric embrace/“Lo! Put me down!” Landing to her feet she looked at his delighted face as he took her hands in his.“Nits, I have loved you ever since I learned what it was like to love someone. I love you so much it aches my heart. The mere possibility that you love me back is enough to make me feel like Valhalla is in the palm of my hands.” He held her hands so tight, like she would disappear any second. That this wasn't the reality he was living in.“I love you.” She stared at him, tears welling in her eyes as he gripped the back of her head and hugged her like his life depended on it. They held onto each other for the longest time before Infinity pulled back to look into those emerald eyes that had captured her heart for all these years.Inching closer, her lips touched his and they melted into it, pouring the love they had held for one another all this time. It was slow and soft and ended all too soon. She pulled back, breathless and looked at him grinning from ear to ear.“What?” He asked, searching her face, suddenly conscious of himself.“You're an amazing kisser.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“You know this is all your fault.” was the first sentence spoken in the past hour which was filled with a lot, lot of frustration. After plowing straight into a mile of red debris and broken metal, both of them were fairly wounded and scratched up. Due to Loki’s enchantments he had managed to heal all his injuries in the blink of an eye which made Infinity roll her eyes at him. Unfortunately, the ship had taken much more damage than they had thought, and even their combined magical skills couldn't fix science. There was no denying it. They were stuck.“I beg your pardon,?” Loki asked, appalled. “How is you, crashing the ship, my fault.” He pointed at her accusatory.“Oh last I remembered, you were the nutcase who decided to kidnap me and take me to outer space.” She shot back while trying to walk over the mess of the battered wreck of the ship trying to get closer.“Well I wasn’t going to leave you there.” “You could have.”“No, I could have very well not.”“You're insufferable.” She said exasperated, turning around and pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. She has absolutely no idea where she was, with no supplies and a psychopathic God as a travel partner/assailant. “If you are so eager to have not been distubed, please try to find your own way and try to survive without me.” He said in anger, chin pointed towards the vast horizon, where no sign of hope shimmered for miles. He stretched his arm in challenge.“Thank you, your majesty, for giving me the opportunity to escape, that's the first nice thing you've done ever since I met you.” Infinity shouted, stomping her legs away from him and towards the empt craters of sand. She heard the sound of his footsteps getting farther away from her too.And thus, began their journey apart. *****************************************The one thing Infinity was grateful for was the fact that this planet did not have the sun shining directly on it. At least she wasn't walking around aimlessly in the smoldering heat bathed in sweat, there was a nice breeze which helped her morale significantly, but even after a few hours no amount of nice wind could have kept the dread at bay. She was lost.Deciding to give her legs a break from all the walking, she sat down on what looked like a rock. Sitting down, she noticed that this particular crater of sand was covered with black ragged rocks that haven't been anywhere before ever since she crashed here.Weird.“Ouch!” She said in shock when something sharp poked her in the butt. Immediately getting up, she felt the ground shake with tremors. The rocks started to vibrate until they rolled from their positions.“Oh great, what monstrosity is this?” She grunted, already in a defensive stance as she saw the rocks enlarge, rugged hands and legs sprouted from each of them until she was surrounded by a few hundred rocky…. Dwarfs?“Hi?” Infinity tried with a smile on her face as they all simultaneously blinked at her. Loud roars filled the air and they charged straight towards her.“No diplomacy, got it then.” She shouted as the first of the attackers jumped midair, immediately she vapoeried him with a ball of energy, tiny pieces blasting off. Wrapping a few dozen in tendrils she captupalted them in the sky. This was like a very dangerous game of whack a mole.Except alien rocks. And they wanted to kill her.Soon, despite her efforts, she started to get overwhelmed by their strength, they just wouldn't stop coming at her. One scratched her ankle as she hissed in pain, feeling blood drip down. She was already outnumbered.Suddenly, a loud high pitched sound rang through the atmosphere. The demon rock babies started shrieking uncontrollably, completely forgetting about Infinity. Soon they vibrated so much that their bodies began to shake and dientragte into actual rocks.Snapping her neck towards the source of the sound, she saw Loki with the biggest smug look she had ever received from him and he held what appeared to be a radio.“On your own didn't work out very well, now did it?” He asked as soon as she was within earshot. She immediately walked towards him.“How did you, What was that?” She heaved, still weary from the fight as Loki rolled his eyes.“I’m a God love, do you really think I haven't been on this planet before?” He asked and things started to fall into place in her head.“So you can get us out?” Infinity immediately asked in hope as he winced.“I'm afraid it's not as simple as that. The last time I was here, I may have made the guy who runs this place very, very angry.” Infinity groaned and facepalmed herself.“Of Course you did.”“But I have a plan, and in order for that to work we can't be fighting like dogs at every single crossroad.” He offered as she raised an eyebrow.“I’ll agree if we agree the dog in question is you.” She demanded, hand crossed across her chest as he pinched the bride of his nose.“I'm stuck with a child.” He sighed as she slightly smiled, jutting a hand out.“Truce?” “Truce.” He shook her hand and they both felt the tremors of the last time their skin touched each other. In his cell when she had tried gaining access to his mind and failed. Both of them ignored the obvious feeling.“Now if you'll follow me, off to the lion's den we go.” He gestured in front of them as she nodded walking alongside him.“I was doing fine by the way,” She remarked and heard him chuckle.“Clearly.”“Bipolar asshole.” She muttered under her breath. ******************************************They walked side by side for the next forty minutes until the barren sand of the desert transformed into the crowds of people tightly packed together that Infinity had to elbow her way into a clearing just so she could breathe. The loud droning of excited chatter drummed all around her as people called their way into each other trying to get somewhere but it was impossible to know the destination.People wearing complicated suits alongside the ones with tattered clothes, all alike fought their way against the crowd.“Why's it so crowded?” She asked Loki who seemed unfazed by the masses of people on all sides, he trailed his eyes behind her in a pointed way until she turned around and found the reason. The annual championship tournament will be held at sundown in the colosseum, make sure to get your tickets before then, Lord Gabuis won't tolerate any trespassers. The advertisement was displayed in large bold letters and pasted on every wall she could put her eyes on. “I suppose that's the guy who hates you.” She nudged Loki at the name as his mouth formed a tight smile. “The one and only.”“Oh I can think of many people who hate you, there's me and,” Infinity started counting on her fingers as he gave her a deadpan expression of exhaustion. “We need to get to him, this planet has one of the most advanced technologies Ive ever seen. Maybe someday we could get our hands on a ship.” Loki said, staring at the advertisement in contemplation with creased eyebrows.“Well it says no trespassers so unless you have a friend here we have no way.”He smirked at her response before spreading his hands out infront of her, a few seconds later materializing in green flickers of light were two small pieces of paper.“I don't need any friends.” He said handing her one of the tickets and walking towards where all the people were heading as she rolled her eyes.Ten minutes later, after a thorough check of tickets by several guards holding electrified spears They were inside the inner gates. Buildings almost as tall as the empire state building towered above them, spaceships casually whizzed by in air, often throwing confetti to excite the people who came to watch the tournament. In the center of it all was an amphitheater aka the colosseum.Right behind that was a significantly larger building than the rest, judging from the amount of security she guessed it was the lion's den. It was not going to be easy getting in.“What's the plan, does any of your knowledge from before give us an edge here.” She asked him crouching behind rubbles of rock giving a secret view to the entrance. Loki joined her and closed his eyes, grunting. “I only know Fabius keeps all his valuable things in a room on the top floor, that's where I, uh, borrowed some things the last time.” He replied with a hint of embarrassment in his voice.“Well how did you get access to it before?” She impatiently urged as he paused for a second and opened his mouth to reply but got cut off by a voice that came from behind them.“He didn't.”Infinity was on her feet before the words stopped, hands drawn in a defensive position she saw the person that the voice had come from. He was wearing a blue ankle fitted coat that covered most of his body, his hair was trimmed from the edges where it barely reached his neck.“Walk away, this doesn't concern you.” Infinity calmly stated, her eyes shining with the promise of her threat. The man only raised an eyebrow at that as Loki stepped forward.“Unfortunately it does, Hello Fabius.” His expression was sour, like a bad memory clawing at the surface he didn't want to revisit but Fabius looked more than thrilled at their presence.“How nice of you to revisit, plotting against me ah, this does bring back some memories.” His face was the opposite of his words, he was grinning from ear to ear. “Look,” Loki started but got cut off with a hand from his as he started walking closer to the pair.“Save your lies sweetheart, I already know you intend to steal a vessel since yours crashed oh so horribly. A pity really.” He circled the two of them, the gold flower crown glinting in the sunlight.“Would you be willing to help us? I know you're angry at Loki but he's just a person who makes people angry.” Infinity said cheerfully as a small chuckle escaped Fabius lips and he took her hands.“As much as your words are ture, I'm not angry. I'm over the five moons here. You have no idea how eagerly I've been waiting for our dear friend to come back.” His words sent a chill down her spine but she maintained her composure.“See recently he almost destroyed my world and he was going to be punished on Asgard but he escaped so you want him punished don't you?” She asked with gleaming eyes, trying to keep up that face as Loki glared daggers at her but she pretended he wasn't here.“Hm, go on.” Fabius said, eyeing them both as she internally sighed in relief at the affirmation that maybe this could actually work.“So if you provide us with what we need you'll get your revenge over everything the green eyed bastard stole from you.” She finished her pitch with a cheerful smile as Loki flared in anger.“No ones doing anything,” Fabius cut Loki off for the third time with a chorus of laughter. He laughed so hard the crown on his head almost fell off and he doubled over. Wiping a tear from the corner of his eyes he slapped hand on Loki’s shoulder as he gritted his teeth at the contact.“Is that all he told you? That's not the only reason,” He trailed off gesturing to her as she straightened, Loki smirked at the little action.“Infinity.”“Well, Infinity. Before he stole the core of my life workings he did something, well worse. What do we call it, ah a hit and run.” He declared with a mischievous smile as the words registered in her head.“You guys,” She pointed between the two of them, flabbergasted. “So you, like,” She didn't finish looking at Loki as he buried his hands in his face and sighed. “Okay that's it. Fabius it was a long fucking time ago, get over it. And you,” He faced Infinity.“Yes I do, a little bit of both. You seem awfully surprised.” He folded his arms.“Well people going for you is indeed, quite a bit of shock.” She bit back as Fabius stepped in between. She never expected the God of Mischeif to have an active sex life but being around for a few centuries she doesnt blame him, stuff gets boring. If anything this was the only thing she approved about him.“Children, enough. Let's get to the part where I sedate you both.” He said in mock annoyance as infinity recoiled back. Fabius was an awful lot chipper to be their enemy.“Excuse me what,” She didn't get a chance to finish her sentence before her vision was lined with black dots and the world toppled over. *************************************By the time Infinity regained consciousness her entire body had gone numb. The sting in her neck felt as fresh as ever, feeling like a radioactive spider just bit her. Peter would have appreciated that joke. She wished he was here right now.“Ah finally she wakes.” Fabuis’s voice came out and her senses finally returned to the point she could make out what was happening. The marble tile felt cold on her hands as she struggled to twist them free but they were bound behind her back. Taking a deep breath, she tried forcing the pulse of her powers to her wrists just strong enough so she could break the bonds like she did earlier today with Loki but to her surprise she felt something push down her power back to heer consciousness. The loss of control made her panic as she turned towards her right to find Loki wearing the most annoyed expression she had ever seen and that was saying something since all he did at her was be annoyed.“You think I really wouldn't have been prepared after last time?” Fabuis raised an eyebrow and Infinity noticed he was holding a champagne glass with a little olive in it. God, who was this guy?“What did you do.” She snapped immediately, air constricting in her lungs. She had never felt so powerless before. Loki shuffled closer to her from where he was bound on the floor and turned so she could see his bound wrists. A golden clasp the size of a tissue roll firmly gripped his wrist. She felt the same on hers.“These little babies suck all the magicy voodoo shit everyone has going on in them once put on, neat isn't it? Apparently when you have a strong enough motive you'll do anything to bring pain.” Fabius said the last part looking at Loki as he sighed but from the slight tremor in his legs she could see he was agitated. No wonder he'd been completely powerless for the first time too.“Can we please hurry to the point, you're reminding me of why I didn't stick around till the morning.” Loki said in a bored voice slightly smirking, no doubt to piss Fabius off but he hardly seemed fazed. He walked towards the floor to ceiling glass and gazed out at the city. “I'm not a complete asshole so I thought I could cut you guys a deal.” He said turning around. His voice remained as cheerful and creepy as ever.“And you couldn't do that without cuffing us?” Infinity asked as he walked closer to her. The sunlight parted when he moved away from the window.“Oh come on, you overpowered Gods could be taught a lesson once in a while.” He scoffed.“Well that's great because I'm not a God.” She said as he looked at her with genuine renowned interest. “Then what are you?”“A very pissed off human.” She said as Fabius hummed and snapped his fingers. In an instant she found her wrists flying backwards from the sheer force she was using to open the binds. The golden claspe was still on as Fabius offered her hand to get up.“That's interesting, tell me Infinity. What's your relationship with him?” He sipped on his wine? Ale? At this point who cared. She was about to tackle him to the ground before an idea crossed her mind.“Hes a fucking asshole who kidnapped me from my parents in order to trade me and my powers to some alien smuggler.” She feigned disgust at him as Loki's face remained unchanged. It was obvious mentioning the Avengers wouldn't do her any good or tip anything in her favor.“He's certainly gotten more creative.” Fabius laughed, placing a hand on her shoulder as she laughed along with him. This was the best way, the only way.“I'm so glad I found someone who shares the same hate for the likes of him.” She continued the trashing and was sure she saw Loki smile a bit from the corner of her eyes. Green light.Fabius grew more excited the more he thought he could trust Infinity and soon enough, they were like buddies on a different planet. Well they were.“Can't believe we didn't meet sooner. You're an absolute delight honey. As for him, I spent months thinking about the perfect way to make him pay. Fortunately today couldn't have been more perfect for you guys to drop out of the sky. Literally.” He looked over at his loud City.“I'll make you guys a deal, I'll lend you one of my finest ships here. In the vault. Only if Loki wins.” He proposed with a dangerous glint in his eyes.“Wins what?” He asked slightly put off as Fabius gave him the most menacing smirk.“Oh why of course today's tournament.” ************************************“How in the fuck did I get here.” Loki whispered while looking around the situation he was in.He stood in the center of an oval arena, almost bigger than two football fields. Roars of cheers flooded in from every direction he faced, thousands of inhabitants seated in rows circling him yelled in delight seeing another prey in the arena.A large spaceship floated at the edge of the arena, where the root of this problem sat with the biggest smirk on his face. King Fabius. Even from that far of a distance, Loki could see him kissing his teeth at the wait. Seated next to him was Infinity, looking straight at him with an emotionless expression but the clench in her jaw clearly indicated her discomfort.“Is this really necessary?” Infinity asked, clearly enraged, turning to face the King who only hummed in response. He tossed one leg over the other and kept his eyes fixed on Loki who stood alone in the gigantic Arena with armor two times too large for him.“It's not my fault Mr deceptive here has the chronic urge to cross everyone he meets. He has to own up someday, why just not let him atone for his actions today.” The king rubbed his hands in excitement. When Loki told her that he wasn't on good terms with this guy, this was the last thing she expected happening.“What if he loses, we both rot in the dungeons?” She asked hesitantly, still trying to play the role. Fabuis addressed her with a flick of his hand.“Oh don't you worry about that, you seem like a nice girl. As soon as the fights are over I'll arrange for your transport back to earth. As for him, well he won't be going anywhere if he wins or loses.” The end of his sentence cast a shadow upon his face.Fabius wasn't letting Loki go despite whatever happens, but she was free. Free to go back. Free from all of this. She rubbed the clasp in nervousness as he eyed her movements.“Oh dear me, I almost forgot about that.” He walked over to a panel and pulled up a screen. A hologram of the clasp hung in the air as he flipped it and pressed one of the buttons displayed. Almost instantly the pressure in her hand relieved and it fell off.Strength surged back in her veins and the cloudy sensation lifted up from her mind. Holding up her hands, she felt the power release from her as purple tendrils of pure energy danced across her fingertips. She smiled.“Fascinating, this truly is a blessing.” He commented on her powers, putting his attention back on the fight. He really trusted her enough to think she wouldn't turn on him. She almost felt bad deciding her next moves. Keyword, almost. ***************************Sweat beaded on his forehead as Loki struggled to keep up with the rapid movement of the lizard creature as it slashed its talons faster than the human eye could capture.Of Course his opponent was a goddamn alien lizard.Even with the benefit of a Gods fighting strength and reflexes, battling an enhanced mutant species without any of his usual tricks proved more than what he could keep up with.It had only been a few minutes since the cheering began roaring at an abnormal intensity around them, the barbaric act of pitting creatures against each other only excited the crowd further. If it wasn't for that blasted restraint on his wrist he would've had the whole amphitheater quivering with fear in a matter of seconds.“Why don't you come fight me yourself!” Loki yelled, nearly ducking another blow, turning around and watching the reptiles fork tongue slither into its mouth with anticipation. He was certain Fabuis could hear him over the cheering shouts, the looming spaceship stood proudly overhead and in it, them.“You can save your breath, I'm far from falling for that silver tongue.” Fabuis shouted back in delight, smiling as Loki dodged another attempt of having his head severed from his body. His gaze found Infinity's for a second.“You fell for it before, wouldn't surprise me much if you did a second time.” Even as he was facing an eight feet tall serpent, Loki couldn't hide the smugness from his voice. His affair with Fabuis had been short lived yet fruitful. Few years ago, Loki had found himself venturing on this planet Odin had been talking about. This was the place from where all assortments of high tech were imported and bought from. So of course curiosity had befallen the young Prince. His initial motive had only been to travel to the deepest parts of the Planet, discover its core and take it for himself. Finding Fabuis in the process had only been a mere coincidence, and a pleasant one at that.Unfortunately the god of mischief had more than plenty of his share of dalliances between women and men alike. Developing an emotional connection was highly unlikely, his tastes changed too often, curiosity spiked with every interesting thing that pierced his mind. That was the case with Fabius although the same could not have been said for the Young ruler.Fabuis was strong, there was no doubt in that. He had been incharge of leading the planet's politics, citizens and everything alike. Maybe that's why it was so easy for him to let his guard down for a particular green eyed God. To rest, to let himself feel. Despite not having a permanent connection, Loki did make Fabius feel loved, momentarily.Of Course he didn't realize just how deeply he had rooted himself into Fabius' consciousness. He didn't realize that when he would leave it would break his spirits, and he definitely didn't realize that when he stole from him it would break his trust. Sharpen the edges of his heart into something darker than just hurt, revenge. Now standing here, in the center of the colosseum, armed with nothing but a steel blade and watching the smile of the man he had once loved, twisted in vengeance, the realization finally settled in for the first time. The creature lunged again, snapping him out from the trail of thoughts. Unfortunately that momentary lapse of focus had cost him in a delayed reaction as a talon ripped through his arm.Jumping backwards his chest heaved as he saw the flesh torn, rich blood seeping out of the wound. It was one of the first times he had let himself get injured in combat. Without his powers.Watching the trail of red drip down and mix with the sand, a blazing fury clouded his mind. He could already see his flesh start to reconstruct and heal on its own but this had gone along for enough. He stood up with a new determination, holding his sword in his hand, making sure the injured one hung loosely by his side. Trailing his eyes over the creature he studied every inch of skin, trying to find weak spots until he landed on a vulnerable area below the arc of its neck, it looked soft and easy enough to give a clear shot to its heart.Twisting the blade back he crouched low, waiting for another strike and as soon as it hit Loki rolled forward and drove it straight up the place he had pictured and it was clean cut. The metal pierced the soft skin and came out bloodied the other side. The crowd went silent. He dragged the blade upwards until it sliced off the beast into two pieces. Unnecessary? Maybe but it sent the message.Loki spread his hands towards the spaceship and found Fabius smiling. He only rested his hands on his chin and waited, but for what.Gasps of shock started coming from every corner as Loki turned out to see the pieces of the creature tremble. It shook and quivered until the skeletal flesh was only a mere blob of black. Separately, they rose besides each other, building and from where the slain beast once laid, were two identical of its kind.It could multiply.“Well, isn't that absolutely fucking wonderful.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
It had been over a month since the meeting had taken place and the constant bloodshed in Anaheim had declared a major crisis. The plan of attack was simple, the next time the dark elves attacked, Odin’s own warriors will be there to end it.The attack came after two months.Anaheim soldiers had spotted the blur of an army of dark elves marching their way forward to the castle, the village and its people. They were dressed in battle armor from head to toe and carrying weapons that glinted with dried blood. They were here for a cause, and it was Anaheim.Within minutes word was spread to heimdall to alert Odin and without a second to spare, the warriors were racing across on the rainbow bridge, determined to reach Anaheim before the battle could start. “You are not coming with us.” Loki spoke in anger for the thousandth time as they reached the bifrost and found Heimdall already waiting. Infinity strapped on her daggers as she ran alongside the rest of them, no one except Loki had any reservations against her fighting, they had sparred enough with her to know she could hold her own but Loki's concerns stretched beyond that. “You do not get to decide which battles I fight and which I don't.” She snapped walking forward as his face grew more exasperated. The past two months had been absolutely blissful with his time with Infinity. Finally admitting their feelings the two had grown impossibly closer together, and with love came concern. And for Loki he would be damned if he ever let anything happen to her.“But i do get to decide wether you live or not Nits, we're facing the dark fucking elves here. You can't leave.” He insisted with a finality to his voice, gripping her by the shoulders as she clenched her jaw.“I’m going.” She said ith finality as he galred at her.“Who’s gonna let you.” Loki began as he turned around with his weapon drawn as stood between her and the bifrost, a determined stare in his eyes. Infinity looked at him with a raised eyebrow of disbelief and within seconds she had him pinned to the ground against her knee with his chest. She held the tip of her dagger inches away from his throat.“Whos’ gonna stop me?” She challenged, her voice laced with a threatening promise as his emerald eyes kept locked on hers in defiance.“Uh guys we really have to get going.” A voice from the warriors interrupted. The others watched the two with impatience and worry, a disagreement between them caused a rift of discomfort everywhere, they were impulsive, hot headed and too in love with each other to think straight. She snatched herself away from him and walked towards the rest without another word. Infinity knew Loki only meant the best but his concern grew overbearing at times like these and she'd be damned if she missed out on an epic battle because of him.Loki sighed in defeat walking towards them.“That worked out great for you.” Sif commented in his direction as they all braced themselves. The shimmering light of the bifrost soon encapsulated the group as the configuration of their molecules began to fall apart.“Shut up.” Loki coldy grunted, brushing the dirt of his cloaks without looking at Sif which received a chorus of laughter. Thor slapped a hand on his back.“Cheer up brother, we have the fight of our lives awaiting us.” ************************************** As soon as Infinity's feet hit solid ground, earth shattering screams and cries filled her ears. The battle had already begun. It was a devastating side, Soldiers desperately slashed with their swords, fueled by the agony of war. The black tint of the enemies blood mixed together ith crimson was splattered all across wea[ons and the battlefield. It wasn't hard to judge by the number and the intensity that which side was winning, Anaheim’s soldiers were lost and wounded, hopelessly fighting against the ever growing number of elves that continued their attack ruthlessly. The sudden beam of light had caused momentary confusion between the forces as all heads snapped up to the small group of warriors taking in the scene.“Hello there.” Thor waved with a little smile as the dark elves shouted a cold blooded war cry and hordes of enemies dashed straight towards them.“Well I tried.” He started whirling miljonair with an inhuman speed as the first attacker connected with the end of the hammer and immediately went flying backwards. Broken bones splintered from his skin and soared through the air.Infinity stepped forward taking her daggers out as she impaled one right through one’s throat. It was exhilarating, deadly and she felt all too powerful at once. Everyone spread in a circle. Thousands of elves slashed their weapons with urgency and an intense burning hatred for the lot. Blades sliced through the air and came down on them with great force.Killing a single elf was easy.A hundred of them coming at you with axes and screaming their lungs out?Not so easy.Infinity lunged and blocked with every step she took, any direction she turned a weapon came straight towards her. Every second there had to be movement if you wanted to avoid being impaled. From her peripheral vision she saw the rest fighting effortlessly, their actions fast and fluid. She staggered as her chest heaved from the force, the effort was finally starting to catch up to her as she drove the blade into another one of the attackers neck. This was her first war. With more than a single fighter, it was easy to exhaust her body because for every one she killed, ten more came at her.Infinity desperately wanted to catch her breath, but she didn't let herself stop even for a second. More than just her life depended on it. Soon all she could see was a blur of metal and skin. Her mind detached itself from her body and her hands started working mindlessly on their own. Shield. Slash. Block. Duck. Stab. Her eye caught Loki’s as he held up rocks larger than the entire palace with his magic and brought them down on a hundred elves. She didn't realize that her attention had shifted until the sharp pain in her back reminded her.Loki immediately searched the crowd as soon as Infinity's cry reached his ear. He saw an elf holding a sword above her head as she lay on the ground twisted at an awkward position, sword still in her hand, trying to get away from the killing blow. The sword slashed all too suddenly. He couldn't make it to her.His magic didn't reach the creature, the metal was faster.Loki's heart dropped in his stomach as he realized that the sword came down. But it never struck. The weapon was frozen midair, glimmering with a purple glow. An invisible force was pushing against it as the elve tried harder, features hardening with effort and confusion but it was of no use. The force was inhumanly powerful.Infinity clutched her bloodied side with one hand and held the other outstretched Infront of her as a shield, she slowly looked up only to realize that her hand shimmered in the same glow as the sword. With a sudden push of her hand, the creature went flying back into a pile of stones, the force so intense that the sound of bones cracking echoed throughout the now quiet battlefield.Remaining soldiers, frightened citizens all stared at her in astonishment. The battle was over, they had won.Thor and the rest had their mouths hung open in awe and laughed in disbelief. Loki didn't waste a second before appearing next to her. His eyes screamed with an intense worry but he didn't say anything except shut them.He held his hand over her side and closed his eyes whispering ancient enchantmented and soon the wound started to heal on itself. He exhaled in relief once it was all closed. Infinity leaned against him and released a tired sigh.“Lo?” She asked softly as he hummed against her head, holding her tight in the middle of thousands of dead bodies.“What the fuck just happened.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Infinity barely registered the fact that Loki now faced more than one enemy while being injured before her mind decided her actions. She thrusted her hands forward and coils of energy slithered around Fabius' legs swiftly and before he could voice his concerns he was already silenced by a shield around his mouth. His eyes were filled with shock and betrayal.“I'm really sorry for this but you need to work this out in therapy okay, if you're on earth anytime I can find you a good one.” She tried offering with a sympathetic smile before knocking him out cold. Quickly glancing outside she knew there was no way Loki was going to hold up any longer. Infinity pressed the same buttons she had seen Fabius pressed earlier to release his clasp. Her’s was still there on the floor and she pocketed it. Wind whipped at her face as she looked below. She blasted energy from her hands which lifted her across the spaceship until she descended down next to Loki. The wound on him was healing at an impossible rate as she met his eyes and to her surprise he grinned.“Now this is going to be fun.” He smirked as mirror images of him started peeling away until there stood twenty versions of himself. The crowd roared to life at the sudden twist and the monsters backed away in hesitation.“I couldn't agree more.” She beamed back, conjuring up a spear and facing the creature who looked alarmed at the sudden shift of balance. Even the crowd was now uneasy despite being excited and she knew the guards were growing weary and suspicious at the King’s absence.Loki attacked the creature from all of his forms simultaneously as Infinity fired back to back spears ceaselessly until they stuck out like toothpicks from the now very lifeless and dead creature. It was short and sweet.Guards started shouting once realization struck them and Loki martalized quickly back into one person once he was done with the other lizard. They had to get to the spaceship. Now. “Come on.” She held her hand out to Loki who grabbed it without a second thought. Both of them blasted off the ground as Infinity flew them upwards and the solid ground of the ship touched their feet.“Oh heavens, is he dead?” Loki asked with a bored glance, nudging Fabius's unconscious body with his foot as she rolled her eyes.“Not yet,” She grabbed his body and dragged out to the edge of the entrance and pushed him off but before making wisps of energy softly hold his body as it hit the ground. When she looked back Loki was already working on the controls. The opening of the spaceship closed as it lurched forward and upward with blinding speed. The small figures of shouting people and the amphitheater became smaller and smaller as they shot upwards until the entire planet was nothing but a small speck of dot in the black darkness of space. It was over. She finally let out a breath and slumped against the floor, exhaustion creeping in her bones from the events of the past 24 hours. She felt Loki slide on the space opposite, it reminded her of the time they sat in his cell like this. That felt like a different reality, one where she was safe and surrounded by family. Now, as she made eye contact with her former prisoner, she couldn't find any feelings of the previous resentment or hostility towards him. He was still extremely annoying, but in a different way. A fonder way. It was disturbing to have her feelings change.“Now that was, something.” Infinity breathed out and heard him chuckle lowly in response as he glanced back at the darkness where they were once trapped.“How did you manage to, well you know.” He gestured to the clasp she fidgeted with it in her lap.“I didn't, he let me go. Apparently my friction with you was credibility enough to get on his good side.” Loki’s face twisted in confusion and she saw how his features changed when realization dawned upon them.“You could've left. Gone back to your heroes in capes.” He asked incredulously, staring at her thought, like he was trying to piece together an impossible puzzle by just her face. “Maybe I wasn't heartless enough to leave you at the mercy of Fabius’s broken heart.” She smiled tilting her chin. If he was shocked, he didn't show it. Instead he only stared at her, still trying to figure her out.“You were right.” Loki spoke after several seconds of silence. The random response startled her as she racked her brain trying to remember.“About?”He sighed standing up, brushing the invisible specks from his robes. The same torn and bloodied robes she'd seen for the last few days. His body stood incredibly still as he gazed at the darkness ahead, the light murmur of the speachsip filling the silence as it flew farther and farther away.“That day, in the prison cell.” He paused, a smile that didn't reach his eyes which burned with a cold anger as he relived the memory.“Your psychoanalysis of my motives with research you had only done for a few hours. You spoke with such confidence, and it was all true. I never knew I could be read that easily.” Infinity got up and walked next to him, the events of that day replaying in her head. “You never wanted a throne.” She echoed. He chuckled humorlessly.“I remember when I was just a boy, my mother taught me her magic, her seidr. So the balance of power between me and Thor could be equal. From the moment they took me in, they knew I would never be what he was. She knew.” His voice took on a fragile edge when he mentioned his mother, the one person who had always loved him despite of who he was.“Laufey.” Infinity stated as the events of his life unfolded between the two.“Ah yes, the King of the frost giants. My beloved father, who left my infant form to freeze. And Odin? My adoptive one who only took me as a relic which could prove useful, an advantage to their wars.” He spat the last word with venom. He had been a pawn. He had always been one.“You never found your sense of belonging.” She whispered as the final piece of it fell together. All that time up in the library, trying to figure it out. It was finally here.“You could say that.” He exhaled, closing his eyes in thought. There was nothing but silence between them, the silence filled with understanding. After a while she nudged him playfully.“You know, there are better ways of dealing with childhood trauma than enslaving an entire planet guarded by the earth's mightiest heroes.” She sang the last part as a small grin crept up on his face.“Is that so? You could help me unlock all their secrets o great oracle.” He dramatically bowed as the sound of laughter filled the atmosphere and shifted the air from their previous conversation.“Why the sudden honesty?” She asked him once the laughter died down and he raised a single eyebrow.“Well I figured I owed something to the one person who saved my life without any strings attached, you do remember we’re supposed to be enemies?”“Eh, youre growing on me.” She replied as he smiled at that sentence. It was an honest, genie one. Void of any malicious or mischievous intents. It was nice.“So what's your story?” Loki asked her while leaning against the board as Infinity shifted on her feet and shrugged.“There isn't really one. I just blipped into existence a few years ago. No memories, no connections. Just this.” She held up her hands as flickers of purple energy danced from one finger to another. “Well there's a hell of a story written all over that.” He said in wonder, raising his hand over the ropes as they passed from her fingers to his and quietly dissolved into air. “What happens now?” Loki sighed and closed his eyes when he asked the question. He didn't know what she would say, they were still very much on opposite sides.Infinity looked at her fingernails which were ringed with bruises from the earlier fight..“Now, this spaceship will go back to earth and I will go back with it.” She began and he opened his mouth but before he could say anything she continued.“Without my prisoner.” His head snapped up at that. He looked at her with a puzzling gaze until he fiigure it out. She meant to let him go.“My my, what a daring plan. Won't your,” Loki paused trying to find the right words.“Friends, not find that troublesome?” He challanged with hands clasped behind his back. “I have a feeling you'll give them plenty of chances to catch you in the future.” She smiled as he chuckled, confirming her theory.“Well Infinity, I can't believe I'm saying this. But it was a pleasure to meet you.”She smiled again. A smile filled with hope and new friendships blossoming. But it was also laced with sadness at the uncertainty of not knowing their relationship. The connection they had, the way they got hurt by each other. So many things still had to be answered. The rest of the ride was filled with silence, where both of them kept to their thoughts. But it was clear, there was a hint of content in the atmosphere. For both of them.Soon, the blue sphere infinity knew as home soon started to grow bigger by the second until the blackness of the void parted into blue clouds. She exhaled a sigh of relief once she was bac on earth. Back home. Soon enough, the stark tower came into view. It was a mutual understanding that flying an unknown spaceship directly on top of one of the most secure facilities in the world with the prisoner that recently escaped wasn't such a good idea.A few blocks away, they landed it on one of the building's roofs. Of Course the large vessel stuck out like a sore thumb but Loki wouldn't be staying long. Wind whipped at Infinity's face as she descended the spaceship and gazed at the tower. She turned around and found him standing right behind her.“So I guess this is it.” Infinity said shifting on her feet awkwardly, not sure how to say goodbye. How do you say goodbye to someone who has killed and saved your life simultaneously. Who's so irritating you want to tear your hair out but who also makes you smile at every small gesture. Loki's eyes twinkled knowingly as he took her hand in his and placed a whisper of a kiss on her knuckles.“I hope to see you soon.” He said, stepping back as a grin formed on his lips. She waved at him smiling. Turning around was just about to jump off before the entire rooftop started to shake. She immediately met his eyes which were just as alarmed as her own. Infinity lost her Balance as her body crashed into something hard. Her head spun as the impact rendered her senses lost. She had barely found her footing before a blur or red and blue sirens and incoming helicopters filled her vision.Loki was already on his feet, desperately searching the sky, trying to figure out how anyone could have known they were going to be here. It felt impossible until a voice interrupted his trail of thoughts.“Greetings Reindeer games.” Iron man tilted his head, blasters pointed right at him.Fuck.Loki was bewildered. He looked back and forth between the hovering helicopters and Tony Stark. Already his hands heated as he prepared to strike before he felt a sharp pain sting his neck.A gasp left his lips as he felt his senses go numb and unwillingly he dropped to his knees. Whatever was in the serum, it was powerful enough to subdue a God.“Told you that thing would be a good idea Kid.” Tony said smiling when he saw Infinity as the helmet revealed his face, he faced her and smiled in relief knowing she was okay. The realization finally dawned upon him as he looked at her with the last breaths of strength he Could muster. Why would Tony say that, was Infinity involved in this capture, did she plan all of this? Was that what this was? A long con?His eyes shone with betrayal as she stood bewildered, not realizing what was going through his head as her eyes rapidly drifted from everyone until they landed on his compromised stateThe last thing Loki saw was Infinity shouting and rushing towards him before his mind went dark.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“We have to send her away, Frigga.” The allfather muttered staring out the palace window. His fist gripped the throne's chair hands with the burden of the crossroads that lay ahead of him. With a grave look shadowed upon his face, he closed his eyes in frustration. Tonight the sky seemed particularly celestial, holding many wonders as the stars manifested brightly, mocking the King with their beauty. In a world built on broken promises, beauty felt like a glimpse of a wistful dream. The sound of hurried footsteps rhythmically echoed behind him. He could recognise the synchronous beat of steps wherever he went, they had been accompanying him the past 300 years; yet the Queen had never been this restless in all her time.“It will kill him, it will kill them both.” Was all she could repeat, her voice holding a fragile edge. The severity of the situation was enough to set her apprehension high, but knowing the consequences, the damage it would cause to so many people. People she held dearest in all the realms. She didn't want to think about that, it was unforgivable.“Not if they dont remember her.” The air stilled with the appalling proposition as it hung between them. The thought was dangerous, but they could be certain that it would work.“We have kept countless secrets from Loki, he’ll resent us forever.” The Queen regretfully sighed clasping her hands together. Her mind played a loop of all the instances she had told him he was her own son. No doubt she loved him as such but the fact that he wasn't, was always going to remain true.“It’s the only way. For the safety of the nine realms,” Odin insisted, getting up and firmly taking her hands in his own. He had to make sure they were both content with the decision they were about to make. It would change the world, forever. “And for hers.” Frigga said, urging her own conscience to believe that. Odin only nodded.“Where will she be?” She asked, glancing outside at the starlight sky. The stars really were exceptionally bright tonight and she wondered,Would they have been gazing at the sky? The question was void, of course they would be. It was one of their most treasured traditions, afterall Frigga herself had taught them the pattern of stardust, the trail of constellations. When the stars were brightest, you would always find the two entranced by the simple elegance of the sky. Was this the last time they were going to share that?“Somewhere far, far away from Asgard. Somewhere she’ll be safe and happy.” Odin declared after a few minutes of unbearable silence. His jaw set with whatever swam in his mind.“Midgard.”The King and Queen stared at each other with an unspoken understanding of what they had to do knowing that none of them would take any joy in it but it was their responsibility to their people, to the nine realms.“Mother? Father?” A voice interrupted their thoughts and Odin’s blood went cold as he recognized the owner of the voice to be his oldest son.Thor looked at them with a heavy stare, visible anger flashing on his face alongside flickers of prepexility.“What is it that you speak of?” He demanded with a firm voice whilst glancing at them both. It was obvious she had heard their conversation. Frigga’s mind was raging with an inner turmoil. She did not know how to explain such a fragile situation to her son. It could shatter everything.“My son,” The Queen reached out to caress his cheek but he abruptly stepped back, guarding himself. Her heart splintered into pieces at his action.“What it is you intend to do with our dear Infinity and why. Losing her would be a nightmare that everyday I beg to awaken from. This is outrageous, what has she ever done to any of us except bring joy in our life. In Loki's life?” Thor raved with a crack in his voice as his mother retreated her hand and her gaze fell to the floor.“There is a lot that you are not aware about Thor, she is not who we think she is, she will be the end of Asgard and I do not care to save one person over my own realm.” Odin thundered sharply, his pride wounded by the way Thor spoke disrespecting him. He expected his son to stand down but instead he walked closer with a more determined gaze.“We have known Infinity her entire life. She would never do anything that might harm us.” Thor insisted as his father looked at Frigga. They stared at each other for a moment before she nodded, a silent permission to reveal their intentions behind this.Odin took a deep breath before he started to speak, his eyes focused on something in the distance as the words started to pour from his mouth.“Long ago, before any one of us came into being. There resided an ancient prophecy. Passed down from every King onto the other so that they may protect their world from the danger that might soon be cast upon them.” He paused, staring at his Throne solemnly. “I fear by not recognizing her sooner I may have failed my people. But I will not stand by and watch her tear everything apart.”“What was the prophecy father?” Thor dared to ask in a low voice, afraid of the answer.“It was said that after the realms prospere, after peace brings happiness to the people. From the shadows, there will rise an enchantress who will derive her powers from manipulation of the forces of magic. When she comes of age, an amethyst glow will follow in the wake of her destruction and if not prevented, all that will be left are the sorrows she caused.” The throne room was filled with a heavy slice that draped over the three people. Thor could not believe the words his father was saying, his mind couldn't possibly wrap itself around the idea that Ininty would hurt them. He knew the description matched Infinity accurately. He knew his father would never lie and he knew all that he ever did was for the benefit of him and his realm. His father could never be wrong. He knew that. He just couldn't be.But Infinity, they played together, they fought together. He has known her for as long as he could reebr, he loved her more than he would ever love a sister. How could he let himself do this to her? And to Loki.Thor was the person who witnessed everything about his brother’s relationship with the one person he loved most. They were bonded together, their souls were intertwined and he didn't want to think of the possibility of ripping them apart. But he had to.“How will we know if no harm comes to her if we banish her to Midgard. I have to ensure her safety.” He demanded, resenting himself for agreeing to his fathers decision. But he had no choice. He had to agree with the King, didn't he? Even at the risk of losing the two people closest to him.“Her and Loki’s memories will be removed and placed in my vault. We shall put her near some of the warriors that protect Midgard.” Odin declared with certainty holding Thor’s gaze, hoping it would reassure some of his son's concerns.“That's the only way we’ll know Loki wont do something rash.” He added after a while, visible distress on his face. “Very well, until we find a solution to this prophecy she will remain on midgard. but father, as soon as we do,” Thor walked up to him with a vulnerable edge to his voice as Odin raised his hand. “She will return to us. You have my word.” ********************************************“You're absolutely insane Lo.” Infinity chuckled, shaking her head as she descended down the stairs to the underground vault, her hand encapsulated in his.“Is it really insanity to assume my fathers asking us here so he could marry us Nits?” He smirked, eyeing her as they reached the bottom.“Yes, yes it is. Now come on. He must be waiting.” She urged and started walking forwards before her body yanked back into his.“I really think we could let my father wait for a few more minutes.” He whispered against her hair, simply enjoying her presence as she turned around and looped her arms through his neck.“We have our entire lives to ourselves, all the time in the world. We can spare right now for him.” She whispered as her lips hovered over his and placed a small kiss against it. “I suppose that's reasonable.” He smiled against her lips as they walked towards the vault, fingers interlaced and grinning from ear to ear. They halted in their steps when they saw Odin standing there, with his armor on. He stared right at them, his face sour. Multiple guards flanked either side of him and his expressions made both of them uneasy.“Father, what's going on.” Loki asked slowly, already weary of the guards.“Seize them.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The world was moving too fast. Cosciouness felt too far away from reach, too distant to form any coherent thoughts, too late to realize what had been done. Agents in black poured from all directions, wielding weapons and standing ready as Loki was being dragged away. His eyes lidded over as his body was lifelessly sprawled on the ground. His hands had already been cuffed and he was hauled off from the rooftop. The sight made her stomach turn. None of the guards paid any attention to her and the crowd of them started to move away and towards the compound. Realization hit her all too suddenly as Infinity immediately took off.“Mr Stark, Wait!” She yelled trying to block out the deafening sound of helicopter blades whirring in all directions. She soared and blasted towards the tower and dashed straight inside where Mr Stark was observing the agents closely.A meta contraption was fixed firmly over Loki’s head, grinding his jaw together, rendering him unable to even breathe much less speak. A brief and forceful push dragged him onto his knees with an audible crack. This made him stir.“Do you have any idea how annoying the Asgardians would've been if we actually let him get away.” Tony said thickly, eyes still fixed on him as he finally faced Infinity. Her heart was beating painfully against her ribs. This was all wrong.“How did you find us?” She asked him, desperation laced in her voice as she took long steps towards him. He raised a questioning eyebrow at her actions and simultaneously, Pepper and Bruce entered the room.“Your hand.” He answered shortly, flicking his wrist in the air as realization dawned on her. The bracelet. The tracker. Loki still had it from when he stripped all of her possessions.“The signals stopped transmitting when you left earth's atmosphere, it turned itself on as soon as you reentered, I really have to fix that." He muttered reaching her sleeve covered wrist, still thinking she had the bracelet but she yanked herself back.“No you have to let him go, everything he did, that isn't who he is. You have to understand.” Infinity tried arguing, her ears were ringing as flashes of the past days repeated through her head like a broken sequence. Everything she shared with Loki. “What did he do to you?” Bruce whispered looking over her in shock like she was a stranger, like she didn't know him her whole life. She didn't blame him, her words, her actions, heck even her appearance screamed that something had changed. Something significant.“Oh my god.” Infinity was enveloped in a hug and she knew by the sound of her voice, it was Pepper. Relief washed over her from the familiar embrace as she pulled back and held her shoulders firmly.“Pepper, listen to me. Nothing is wrong. He didn't do anything to me. We were actually trapped, but we got out together. He's not a bad person inherently. Me standing here in one piece proves that.” Sherushed out feeling like her heart would explode. Everyone thought she was mad, but the only Infinity could focus on was the look Loki gave her before he was unconscious. The hurt had only been there for half a second, but it had already cut deep. He had to know this wasn't her doing, she couldn't stand knowing that he was imprisoned again. Especially not because of her.“Infinity.” Pepper finally spoke, a firm edge to her voice as she searched the young girl's eyes.“He killed 80 people in two days.” A disgruntled voice interrupted them at that sentence and all head snapped upto where Loki knelt. He was awake, and he was pissed. It was clear he had something but the contraption still had his jaw tightly smashed together.Tony nodded towards one of the guards as they loosened the bindings.“As I was saying,” Loki flexed his jaw in pain. “When will you stop milking that cow and get over it.” She froze from relief, she never thought his insolent voice would've calmed the storm in her head and the pounding against her heart. The feeling wasnt mutual. He looked at her with cold anger burning in his eyes, she saw distant cracks of betrayal underneath the anger.“Isn't this marvelous, what a splendid reunion.” He drawled on sharply, the bitterness in his voice directed at her. She immediately started to speak and move towards him.“Lo-,” She started but got cut off.“Can it Shakespeare, your brother will be here soon and we can finally get rid of you for good.” Tony's voice was clear and abrupt as he turned on his heel and glared at her.“And you, I don't know what bullshit manipulative hold he has on you but snap out of it. This is Loki, he's evil kid.” He put Emphasis on the last word as something snapped inside of her. The ast hold she had on sanity.“He is not, you have no idea what's been going on. There is more to this from the beginning and I knew that. And I saw it too. I just need you all to see it. Childhood negligence, trauma, survival mode. Connect the fucking dots!” She shouted aggressively, running a hand through her hair feeling her chest heave from panic and anger. The air buzzed with magic by the second and Tony instinctively stepped back.“You need to calm down Infinity.” He pulled out a remote from the desk as she hyperventilated, feeling her magic heighten with every step and every breath. “No! You all need to listen to me. We’re supposed to be the good guys right? We can't just let someone go to his death” She was agitated and livid with fury sparking inside her veins. Even Loki was pulled back as he fought to stay in his place. They all watched her silently as energy radiated with her anger in waves. The entire room was charged.Tony steps forward, a hand held out in defense as his other hand held the same remote.“It's time to step down, kid.” He said with finality while simultaneously pressing the button. She stared at him in shock, not understanding the intent. For a second, nothing happened.“Fuck.” Loki hissed, flinching slightly from pain as his body slightly shook. The guards holding him stepped back instantly as he almost fell down but recovered just as his face was about to hit the ground. He shifted on his feet and tried to get something out from his pocket while wearing the restraints until he produced a metal band from his hands.Infinity’s bracelet.Silent shock covered Loki's face as he realized what had happened and took a step forward. A cunning smile took over his face as he eyed the defensive people around the room.“So that was your plan, subdue your beloved member. This is hers isn't it?” He held the band in the air, showing it around the room as Infinity freezed. Her steps were glued to the ground as a different anger started to course through the air.“Of Course a device built to harm humans wouldn't affect a God but it wasn't meant for me. It was for her.” He whispered the last part, staring directly at her before tossing it the air towards Infinity and she catched it with a single flick of her hand. For a while, all she could do was stare at it in fear of the truth. She finally looked upto to the man she thought was the closest to a father she could get. The man who gave her shelter, the man who took her in.“This wasn't to hurt her shitface, this was a precaution just in case of her powers. To contain her.” Tony bit back at Loki who remained silent, a worried crease in his eyebrows as he waited for Infinity to say something. She stood deathly still, paralysed by the memories filling her head. All the times Mr Stark ever told her no, all the times he wanted her to stay hidden from the world. From even his most trusted people.“Contain me?” Infinity asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She stares up into his eyes which were filled with unspoken remorse but his face remained hard still.“I didn't mean it that way kid-,”“All the times, you didn't let me go out in the field.” She continued to no one in particular, her voice getting louder.“Not letting anyone know of my existence. Because it was a project? Something you could work on, something that needed to have a failswitch if she ever rebelled?” Her eyes were blazing with fire and hurt. A dangerous combination.“Jarvis, get my suit.” Tony said loudly to the room, still keeping his eyes trained on hers. Tension grew thicker by the second. The robotic voice responded affirmatively as the uneasiness grew.“Tony, what are you doing?” Pepper asked slowly, stepping in between them as Infinity looked at her, seemingly out of the trance for a few moments.“Did you know?” Her voice cracked a little. Pepper looked like her heart was breaking, but she didn't answer and that confirmed all of Infinity's suspicions.“You were my everything.” She whispered to the room, to the avengers. A tear escaped and rolled down her face silently. “My family, my people.” Infinity humorlessly chuckled looking at everyone one by one. All of them looked guilty but no one said anything, how could they. She looked at Loki. His face was guarded but she saw an unspoken question in his eyes. Are you okay?It was funny how she knew that despite only being with him for seven days, she had understood that gesture.Infinity nodded, knowing that he might be the only one that didn't have a double meaning to the kindness he showed. Even if it was very limited, it was real. Better than anything her family ever gave her.“I must say, I don't know much about family. You can ask my brother.” Loki was the first one to break the tension as he stepped closer to her. Tony had his blaster aimed straight at him but he paid no attention.“But all the times I've betrayed him, I've been honest.” He finished, looking at everyone pointedly.“And since when did you become our tutor on what family is?” Tony snapped in anger, appalled by Loki’s audacity as he only smirked. Infuriating him more.Loki turned around and looked at Infinity. Directing his next words to her.“Everything is temporary, this was merely one of those things.” She only stared at him before bracing her hands In front of her chest, energy vibrated through the air and poured itself into a tether between the two. The chains and contraptions dissolved into purple mist around him and she lowered her hands. He smiled. She smiled back.“What the hell!” Tony shouted in alarm already ready to fire as Pepper aggressively pressed the elevator button. Bruce was rooted to his spot, green veins flickering on his skin.Loki stepped closer and held his hand over hers, it lingered there for a few seconds before she squeezed it in affirmation. They stood side to side.Us against them. Before anything else could happen, a thunderous roar filled the clouds. It was deafeningly loud and the building shook as lightning struck down upon them.“For fucks sake.” Loki closed his eyes in frustration.Infinity wasn't sure which crossroad to take, she was angry, and she was still ready to attack and leave. No particular place in mind, but she couldn't stay with the people who stood in front of her. Who lied to her, her entire life.A loud crash echoed from the roof where a silhouette of a man kneeled. Debris of the broken roof circled his form and he got up. The figure walked towards them, holding what appeared to be a silhouette of a hammer.Thor. The god of thunder.Loki’s brother. The one who was supposed to escort him to Asgard. She couldn't let that happen. Immediately energy balls appeared at her sides as she stood defensively. Once Thor was close enough to look at the pair, he stopped dead in his tracks.“Hello brother.” Loki waved in amusement from behind her as Thor ignored him. His blue eyes staring Infinity down like he had seen a ghost.“Infinity?” He asked, his words soft whisper. Like they would disappear if he gave it more weight. He quietly stepped forward, intensely trailing his eyes over his face.Immediate recognition flashed across her face as she lowered her hands and the energy died out.Her eyebrows furrowed and she looked at him, with a strong feeling that she knew him. She knew that face. She knew that voice. “I feel like I know you.” She said slowly, closing her eyes trying to concentrate. So fucking done with the annoying deeling that she knew these people. Infinity felt her body being lifted into a hug. A chorus of relieved laughter filled her ears as Thor spun her around, holding her tightly. Desperately. Tony was still standing behind this, watching it all unfold.“My goodness, you don't know me but I do. I have a lot to tell you my dear friend.” Thor breathed out in happiness, still gripping her shoulders as she nodded. Still unsure.“You know him?” Loki addressed infinity touching her shoulder as she shook her head no.“It's the exact same feeling I have with you.”Thor looked back at Loki, as if finally noticing him and immediately his face changed into rage and he gripped his hammer.“Brother!” He roared, holding his hammer against Loki’s chest, advancing before Infinity stopped him.“Thor no, he's okay for now.” She insisted as he barely took a step back still keeping his gaze focused on Loki.“How do you know her? She has no memories.” Tony spoke for the first time as Infinity resisted the urge to blast him. His voice was filled with curiosity, no concern. She glared at him coldly. “Let's go somewhere we can talk in private.”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Don't you dare touch her.” Loki struggled against the Royal guards who put blinding pressure on his shoulders and forced him to kneel. Infinity desperately tried to ignite the energy she felt in her blood but the flame didn't ignite, she hadn't found out what controlled it, how it worked. A guard touched her shoulder, intending to grab her but she immediately twisted his wrist and slammed him into the nearest wall, fissures of crack appearing in Odin's vault. Two more lunged at her as she felt the blow land on her jaw, the pain was sudden and sharp and she collapsed on the ground having no time to retaliate Infinity was dragged next to Loki.“What is this! Let him go.” Infinity shouted, struggling against the force of people holding her back as Odin addressed her with a narrowed gaze.“My issue is with you.” He hissed through his teeth baring his spear, slamming it on the ground sending echoes of thunder all around the vault.“Father, please leave her alone, I'm begging you.” Loki pleaded as he was knocked to the ground, his cheek roughly slamming against the stone floor and his vision went dark for a second.“If you had never met her, it would have saved us all this grief.” Odin said, searching his sons eyes. He walked forward and put a single thumb on Infinity's forehead.“Get your hands off me, I haven't done anything.” She demanded with as much force as her body allowed. She whipped her head back and the guard holding her shoulders stumbled briefly, a trail of blood flowing from his nose as she heaved her entire body away from them, giving it her all trying to fight against it.But there were too many.“It's not what you've done, it's what you'll do. That is why I must banish you.” “You don't know if I will do that, you don't know it.” She screamed, fear creeping into her voice as the weight of the situation fell on them both. She caught Loki's eyes, just as desperately pained as hers. She couldn't lose him. She couldn't lose him. She couldn't lose him.“Father please! Listen to what I'm trying to tell you. Infinity is not a bad person. Whatever you think she's going to do. Just talk to us. We can find a way, we will find a way.” Loki's voice was hoarse from screaming, as uncontrollable tears slipped from his face.“I'm afraid this isn't something that can be negotiated my boy." Odin's voice was slow before he jabbed his thumb into Infinity's skin receiving a guttural scream.“I Odin, Protector of the nine realms, king of Asgard, Herby, take away the remembrance of your past life. Everything and everyone you know will become nothing but ash in your mouth. You will have no recollection of who you are in this place. I banish you to Midgard.”Blood dripped down her forehead as Infinity's eyes rolled back and the biforst started forming around her body. The guards stepped back as the light encapsulated her and the place where she stood was empty in a flash. She was gone.Loki stared at the place where she once kneeled in horror, grief stricken. His body went still.“What did you do!” His voice broke as he thrashed harder than ever before when Odin turned around and got prepared to take away his Son's memory of the only person he ever truly loved. *********“Loki dear, are you feeling alright?” Frigga asked with worry. Her eyebrows creased as she stared at her son seated across. They were seated in the royal dining room. “Yes mother.” He clipped back coldly, not caring about her emotions. He was seemingly a completely different person since last night.Frigga knew what had happened ofcourse, it broke her heart knowing he went through that pain. But not as much as her heart was breaking now, watching him act like this.“You have been acting strange.” She urged once again, trying to see if there was something she could grasp onto as he looked at her with a bored expression.“Do you need me to prance around on a horse for your entertainment mother? I am fine.” He stood up and the sound of the chair screeching echoed in the hall.“Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go see if Thor has had himself beaten, bloodied and raw by the warriors.” Without a look back he started to walk outside.“And if he hasn't?” She dared to ask as he turned around and smirked.“I'll do it for them.”Frigga sinked back in her seat, staring at her hands with the realization of her actions finally dawning.“What have we done?”
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Infinity gripped the ledge until her knuckles turned white. The wind whipped at her face as Thor waited in silence. He had just finished telling her the story of her life. After all this time, she finally had the answer to the one question that plagued her day and night. About the past. Her past. This is who I was.She couldn't believe it, couldn't believe the reality, she wasn't even born on earth. Her parents, her friends, her…love.Turning around she found Loki already staring at her with an intense glare. Not liking the fact that all this information had been stolen from him.Stolen from her.“What happens now?” Loki finally asked Thor and Infinity stepped in before he could say anything.“What do you mean what happens now?” She asked him like the answer was obvious.“We break into asgard, guns ablazing and get our memories back. We beat up your dad and then we find out what this prophecy bullshit is about.” She declared firmly and was slightly surprised when he nodded in agreement.“That's not going to be easy.” Thor eyed her wearily. Not sure about this plan.Infinity studied the New York skyline, the place she always thought was her home.“In the past week I have been made to play jailer to the God of mischief, been kidnapped by said God, went to outer space, crashed into a planet where the leader tried to make us lizard food, and found out that I don't absolutely loathe the God. Discovered that the people who loved me only used me as a pawn and then the God of thunder tells me about my alternate past life where I am supposed to be a dark evil wizard and I am also apparently hooking up with the initial God of mischief.”She paused to take a breath, her words registering to everyone else around herThor's mouth stood open as Loki rolled his eyes.“Incredible.”“Dramatic.”The brothers both said at the same time. She only raised an amused eyebrow and walked forward.“So after that all that,” Infinity smirked looking at them with mischief dancing in her eyes.“I say bring it on.” The End.
