As Hat sat on the large chair in his huge office he sighed, the morning had just come around and the demon was waiting on his morning meal. Everything has been going downhill, he got in trouble because of his fledgling more than once, he has to deal with that idiot of a demon who dared swallow his research material, he was still weakened from his punishment by the devil and worst of all Christmas was coming soon. Hat sighed once more as he grabbed the glass of cold water at the edge of his desk and downed it in one go. He looked up to the sound of his door opening up and Flug stumbling in "Y..your food sir Hat," the man said nervously as he placed the plate in front of the demon. Hat looked at the plate in disappointment, "Dr. Flug care to explain why this is such a puny display you've brought me today?" he asked, but it sounded more like a demand. Flug shrunk even deeper into himself as he looked over at the plate with the singular piece of toast on it and then back up to his boss who was impatiently tapping the armrest of his chair with his fingers waiting for an answer "W..well sir uhm, y..you see your uhm stress eating," Flug tried but got interrupted rather quickly "Stress eating! Me! How dare you accuse me of such," Hat yelled almost shooting out of the chair at the man who was wishing he was a turtle toon right about now."S..sorry I.. I meant recovery eating, has uhm has emptied our food supply," Flug managed to force out.Hat sighed as he rubbed his temples, "Is there anyone present at the establishment that can go gather new supplies?" he asked, sounding more tired than annoyed.Flug looked up, surprised with the reaction of the demon lord. No order for him to get supplies, no yelling because he had dared utter a sorry towards the demon? It felt odd, "Well sir at this moment the whole crew is either spending time with family or is working in the casino," Flug said slowly.The demon's gaze landed on the tiny man in front of him once more as he sighed again. He got up from his chair and grabbed a coat, usually he'd send someone, but the elder demon was exhausted, usually he'd order someone around to do it for him but no one was available, usually he could magic himself where he needed to be, but today he was going to have to walk."Get a coat Flug, you're coming with me! There is no way I'm going to a store on my own near," Hat shuddered, "near Christmas," he said the word with disgust in his voice.Flug nodded instantly, then he scurried away to go get himself his coat.Hat watched the man leave his office and sighed once more, "This better be an uneventful trip," he said as he exited the office as well.
Boris and Mugman chattered happily as they walked towards the grocery story to get ingredients for Grannies famous Christmas turkey. The young wolf checked the list once more before looking at his dish companion "So Granny said she needed 3 turkeys, preferably ones around 5 kg because there's a lot of people in the house, of which many are big eaters," Boris said as he read the list.Mugs laughed "Big eaters ya can say that alright, I bet Cup 'n Bendy can finish one of those turkeys in one fell swoop," he said causing Boris to laugh as well "Can you imagine bendy finishing a half a turkey that's the size of his head," the wolf added making Mugs laugh even louder.As soon as both wolf and dish had calmed Boris grabbed the list again "Apart from the turkeys we also need a basket of clementines, a package of fresh rosemary, a sac of onions, a sac of celery, a sac of carrots, some nutmeg, a package of fresh sage and 1 kg of pork mince," he listed the things as he read them.The two friends entered the store together and went towards the meat section. They had come 5 days early, so there would be enough ingredients left for the house, especially since there were so many of them at the house.As Boris looked over the turkeys speaking with the kind pink haired lady behind the counter, Mugs was looking for the pork mince until a certain voice reached his ears."No Flug we need enough to last until someone else returns to the casino to help with these kinds of trivial matters," the grumpy voice said.Mugs turned around to be met with the figure of Black Hat and Dr. Flug "Ugh, these guys," he muttered to himself yet being the kind soul he is Mugs forced a smile and walked up to the elder demon "Hello Hat, how are you doin' on this merry day," he asked as nicely as he could.Hat turned around and as soon as he met Mugs face his own expression changed into an annoyed one "Leave me be dish," he snapped at the dish who didn't look too surprised with the reaction he'd received."Well, good day to ya to Hat," Mugs said with an even more forced smile as he turned around to go look for the pork again. There really isn't anythin' good enough for this guy is there now, even thinks he's too high 'n mighty to say hi, Mugs thought as he picked out his package of pork and left to meet back up with Boris who was thanking the lady behind the counter for her help with the turkeys. Guess he'll keep the encounter to himself instead of ruining his best friend's mood."So, what's next on the list?" Mugs asked and Boris looked at his list once more, "Veggies for short," Boris said as he started walking towards the vegetable section of the store.
Hat looked back one more time as the dish and wolf disappeared from his view. More annoyed than before, the demon turned around and continued down his shopping list. After making Flug pay for all of his stuff Hat walked outside the establishment, seeing a young child with a lollipop the elder demon decided to get some anger out of his system, so he used his magic to make the kid throw a fit and smash his lollipop into the wall next to him. After the kid regained himself and saw his treat smashed to pieces on the floor, he started to cry.The ringing sound of the crying kid filled Hat's heart with a sick feeling of joy, ruining someone's day truly was a fun thing to do, even if it was just a stupid kid."You are being awfully.. well um awful today sir," Flug commented carefully, making Hat look back at him."Maybe so but even a demon as grand as I need to have joyous times near the holidays right," Hat said as he walked onwards, not watching where he was going.Suddenly, a kid bumped into the demon, falling backwards on her tiny little hands. Hat glanced at the child not even phased by the collision, then he spotted a little something in her tiny hand "Oh what do you have there little girl," he called out with a sickly sweet voice."A letter to Santa!" the young girl replied with an innocent smile as she got up and showed it to Hat.Hat pulled his face back when the flashy red envelope was pushed in his face, the thing smelled of sweets and practically had the aura of happiness around it.A sudden breeze picked up and before the kid could retract her hand the letter was stolen from it and taken away by the wind out of her reach "Mister, please grab it you're tall enough, she begged as the letter flew in Hat's direction.Hat only glanced at the letter floating past him as he stood by, not even trying to grab it. The little girl pouted as she ran after her dear letter, leaving Hat and Flug on the sidewalk as people stared at the two of them.Slowly murmurs started to fill the streets "That poor girl they didn't even help her," a woman said "Such unkind people they are, did you see that little boy that started crying earlier they were there too. Didn't even try comforting him," a man called out "Really how cruel, poor child," a different man said.Hat didn't care for the chatter about him as he looked at Flug "Let's just go back shall we, one more moment here and my brilliant mind might catch the stupid," he spoke as he walked on, making his way to the casino with Flug right behind him.On the way back, Black Hat got an idea.He wanted to ruin something even happier than a sweet treat or a letter.He wanted more sadness on that cursed day called Christmas."Hmmm Christmas," Hat pondered, then he looked up."That's it, Flug!" he called, making the man behind him freeze in shock "Y..yes sir," he squeaked."We are going to ruin Christmas together," Hat said as he turned back around and walked on."Huh," was all Flug muttered as he looked at his boss, How is he going to ruin a whole holiday? Flug though to himself as he followed again. He guessed he'd find out the answer to his question soon enough.
At the house, Bendy was trying his best to hang the Christmas lights on their rightful place, yet he was just a tad too short. Sadly for Bendy his stumbling with the lights didn't remain a secret for long because shorty after he had started, Cuphead walked down the stairs and noticed his struggling and of course the elder dish couldn't help himself and walked up to him."Yo Bends, I see your comin' up a little short there buddy," the starfallen glasswork said, making Bendy snap his head around to face the tall dish."What's it to you dishface!" He retaliated, hoping to get Cuphead to just leave him be, but lady luck just wasn't on his damn side today."Oh nothin',"Cup said simply as he leaned against the wall Bendy was working on, "Say maybe ya need a little help there don'tcha think?" The dish continued, clearly ignoring Bendy's try to get him to leave the demon alone and just move on with his day.Bendy took a deep breath, but luckily the door opened at that very moment. Boris and Mugman walked inside and Mugs for reasons unknown to Bendy stole Cup away, making the elder dish disappear as quickly as he had appeared.Bendy smiled in relief as he continued his struggle with the Christmas lights until the next voice in the room started to mock him, "Need some help with the light's bro, not to be mean, but you're kinda getting nowhere," Boris' innocent voice spoke."Fine!" Bendy grabbed the lights in one hand and walked up to Boris, handing the wolf the lights and grabbing the groceries Boris had put on the floor "Let's switch tasks," the demon said, leaving no room for argument as he left for the kitchen.Coincidently that was also the place Mugs had dragged Cup towards for their talk, and it might have been Bendy's demon hearing, but he swore he heard them mention Hat so after quickly shoving the groceries into the fridge he walked up to the brothers and interrupted them "So what did Hat do this time?" He asked, gaining the attention of both dishes.Mugs sighed and looked up at Bendy, "Well it's not really somethin' he did, it's more like the energy he gave off seemed kinda… I dunno off I'd say. Man seemed exhausted for some reason 'n he was doin' grocery shopping, I mean doesn't he have servants for that or somethin'?" Mugs asked, looking at Bendy, hoping to maybe get some clarification from the younger demon.Bendy looked up at Mugs for a second before lowering his head in thought, "Hat has a multitude of servants down below, some of them up here as well. Maybe they were all busy, but that wouldn't explain Hat grocery shopping by foot, he can teleport through those green portal things and I bet he can even magic the food to himself. Maybe he's exhausted or something?" Bendy guessed facing the dishes again.Cup smirked, "Well if the demon is exhausted it's the perfect time to pay him a visit 'n ruin his day," he said with a serious voice, making Bendy raise his brow and Mugs sigh at his elder brother's antics."You truly are a nutcase aren't you, he might be tired even exhausted, but that's still a demon lord you're talking about Cup," Bendy said deadpan as he stared at the still smirking dish"I know," Cuphead simply replied."Yep, total nutcase," Bendy conformed it to himself real quick as Mugs chuckled."Well I suppose we should just leave Hat be 'n to be quite honest with ya for a second Bendy, maybe ya should give him a call or somethin'," Mugs suggested gaining odd looks from both Cup and Bendy "Not a friendly call guys but like about his studies or somethin' that he needs a magic lesson, maybe that's how we figure out what's wrong with Hat," Mugs clarified making Bendy face the floor once more in thought."Sounds like a plan, at least we'll be sure he isn't plannin' anythin' against us or somethin' like that," Cup said, facing Bendy as well now.Bendy looked up, "You think he'd tell me if he was planning something? Guys come on he doesn't tell me stuff like that, but I'm willing to give it a shot," he added looking up at them "I'll give him a call right away that way I'll be done by the time dinner rolls around, and I can tell you how it went," Bendy suggested.Both of them nodded "Sounds like a solid plan," Cup said "Cya in a bit then?" he asked."Yea sure, be back in a bit," Bendy said as he left the kitchen. Going through the living room now decorated with lights made him grumble, Boris had finished at job in the same amount of time it had cost Bendy to struggle with the exact same thing.He then shrugged it off and went up the stairs to his and Mugs shared room and grabbed the phone placed in there for calls regarding Hat.Sighing once more before, he picked the phone off its holder and dialing the number, holding it close to his ear until Hat's voice broke the silence.
"This is Black Hat speaking, how can I help you, fledgling?"
Bendy internally sighed one last time before he spoke "Hello Hat, I'm just calling to tell you I've finished the books you've given me, and I'd like to have you explain some of it to me," he tried keeping it as polite as he could hoping that would help him get more intel out of the elder demon.
"Ah, I see. Well, I'm sorry Bendy, but I have plans for the next week or so, grand plans, so I can't help you,"
Bendy raised his brows curiously, "Oh, what kind of grand plans?" he asked, trying to sound interested.
"Oh, nothing that concerns you for now,"
Bendy nearly asked his next question too fast, but restrained himself just as quickly, "What do you mean for now?" He asked, masking his worry with a flair of curiosity.
"Oh, did I say that. Pardon me, it's been a few long days for me recently. It really just doesn't concern you Bendy,"
Bendy didn't let the excuse get to him, Hat was definitely planning something for the coming week, he just didn't know what. "Okay then, can you give me a call once you're finished, so we can go over my studies then?" he asked to make the lie for his call more believable.
"Of course but for now I have to go,"
"Okay then, talk to you later," Bendy said.
"Good evening,"
The call ended before Bendy could return the goodbye's. He put the phone back down and started putting his thoughts in place. Hat was definitely up to something involving him or maybe even the entire house. The way the elder demon had acted on the phone also put Bendy on edge, Hat's voice held a strain to it but also excitement, the way he had spoken was also too fast like he has something to desperately get too.Nothing about the conversation sat well with Bendy."Bendy, you coming down for dinner?!" Boris' voice yelling for him from downstairs pulled the demon out of his thoughts, "Yeah coming bro!" he quickly yelled back, getting up from his chair and leaving his room once more.Once he got downstairs the table was filled with food and about everyone that stayed at the house was happily chattering along around the table, Bendy figured he'd keep his conversation till after dinner but also decided he should have Felix and Boris join them. They shouldn't be left in the dark after all.Bendy chatted happily with the other residents of the house while giving subtle hints towards Cup, Mugs, Boris and Felix to meet up later in his room for an important discussion.Dinner went smoothly and after finishing his plate, Bendy excused himself rather quickly. After cleaning his plate and putting it away, he went upstairs once more. Back in his and Mugs room, he saw Cup and Felix had already arrived there, so he sat down on his bed, and they waited for the other two to arrive.It didn't take long for Mugs and Boris to enter the room together and as soon as they were inside Cup spoke up "So what did Hat tell ya?" he asked getting straight to the point.Felix' ears flew up at the mention of Hat's name, and he faced Bendy in an instant with a gaze that demanded an explanation."Okay, so before you get mad at me Felix, it started when Mugs spotted Hat in the store, and they asked me to see if something was up with his because he seemed weaker than usual," Bendy explained himself as quickly as he could.The cat adventurer sighed, "Bendy, are you sure that was even necessary?" he asked with concern in his voice."At first not really," Bendy admitted rather quickly "But since Cup and Mugs had their doubts I decided to give it a go, and I'm quite glad I did so," he added."Well, then spill it! What did ya figure out while you were on the phone with Hat?" Cup asked again, clearly getting a hinge more impatient.Bendy sighed at Cups impatience but then focused on the situation at hand once more, "Well, Hat told me he had grand plans for the coming week, plans that don't involve me yet," he said, putting emphasis on the "yet"."That doesn't sound good," Boris said as he nervously tugged at his bandana."Doesn't sound good? You can say that again," Mugs confirmed."Did he give you any hints concerning what he's planning, Bendy?" Felix asked, trying to keep the conversation on topic."No but the fact he said coming week and Christmas is coming up in 5 days gives me a bad feeling," Bendy said then facing Cup again "He also sounded tired so about earlier, yeah I was right, the guy is exhausted," he added with a small smirk.Cup rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Back to the topic at hand, Hat is up to somethin' 'n it seems like whatever it is he is gonna have it go down on Christmas day," he summed up Bendy's sentence quickly "Guess were gonna have to prepare ourselves for him on Christmas day, maybe even be on guard a few days before to be sure," he added quickly."I agree, if he's truly up to something we can't fully relax," Felix said facing the group "I suggest we keep an eye out but nothing too obvious, I don't want to worry the house around these days," "Yeah you're right, but I do think we should tell the girls," Boris said to which the whole group agreed."Definitely, we can tell 'em tomorrow. They're comin' over for dinner then, so it works out pretty well," Mugs suggested."Sounds like a plan," Bendy said, "Then I suggest we go about our days for now, and we'll see what comes of it," he added as he got up from his bed."Yep, sounds good," Cup agreed as he got up as well.And so the whole group left the room one by one.
"So let me get this completely straight here sir, your genius plan to ruin Christmas is to steal it?" Flug asked for what felt like the hundredth time that day."Yes, get it through your thick skull Flug, I am going to steal Christmas away from all those happy little houses," Hat said as he used his magic to continue working on his machine."I know your great and umm powerful sir, but all those houses. Isn't that a little much even for you, especially in your current state," Flug said carefully, trying to talk the demon lord out of his plan."Hmmm maybe your right Flug, All those houses are too much work," Hat admitted as he put a hammer down and lifted some mechanical components with his magic. Flug sighed in relief," Guess I'll only steal it from the people I want to mess with the most," Hat said as he started attaching the new components to his machine. Flug rubbed the glasses he kept over his bag out of frustration. This was going to be a long day like this."A.. And which house is the unlucky one, then?" Flug asked, nervously tugging at his sleeve."The house of my dear fledgling and his fellow questers of course," Hat said with a smile as he grabbed a screwdriver and started messing with his machine again "It will be a glorious Christmas, FOR ME!" he added with an evil cackle.Flug stared at Hat in disbelieve for a moment before thinking about it, It would be the most perfect revenge against those two cups for always mocking me I guess, he smiled "Brilliant plan sir," he finally said."Christmas is tomorrow and I Black Hat shall steal it from those questers with this," Hat's voice bellowed through the room as he pulled away the tarp over the rest of his contraption to reveal a mechanically enhanced sled.Flug looked at the sled with curious eyes, even more so when he saw Hat was putting on a Santa outfit "Uhm sir what's the plan exactly?" he asked dumbfounded by Hat's actions."Santa usually brings Christmas, but I shall be the first Santa to steal it," Hat said proudly then pointing at his sled "With this magically and mechanically enhanced sled I shall enter the house of the questers, and then I press this little button here and all of their Christmas stuff will disappear into my little machine," he explained proudly.Flug stared at the machine with stars in his eyes "It's perfect," he muttered in wonder, then he got an elf costume thrown at him "Will you be the elf to my Santa Claus?" Hat asked Flug, it felt more like a demand, so there was no way to say no, but Flug wouldn't have said no anyways "Of course sir," he said."Good not like there was any other option for you Flug," Hat said as he placed the elf hat on Flug's bag "Tonight we shall steal Christmas," Hat cackled once more, but it slowly turned into a long evil laugh.Nighttime couldn't have come soon enough for the two villains. Hat fired up his sled and the device started its accent into the sky, "To the house of my dearest fledgling," Hat spoke as the sled moved through the silent neighborhood in which the house was.Hat magically made a portal that made a temporary hole in the wall for them to enter the house with, the place was decorated beautifully, Christmas lights adorned the walls, the mistletoe hung on it's spot on the roof, the Christmas tree stood proudly in the corner of the room adorned with lights, pictures, trinkets, and many other cute ornaments. On top of the tree stood a golden star and under it laid many gifts. Hat snickered softly as he was about to turn his machine on but was surprised to hear a giggle in the corner of the room, facing the noise in an instant Hat came nose to nose with no one other than Wakko Warner "Heya mister, I don't know about you, but Granny might hit you with her cane again if she sees that hole in the wall," the Warner said.Hat tried to grab the little guy but Wakko jumped on to of his hat "Yo cool hat man, can I have it?" he asked as he stroked the hat gently which made shivers climb Hat's back "Get off me, you dog thing," Hat whisper yelled as he tried swatting Wakko away.Wakko somersaulted off of Hat's hat and landed on the floor in a T-pose "Yakko and Dot would love this, I don't believe in Santa because I'm all grown up but..." the Warner got interrupted as his siblings appeared behind him pushing his face down "Santa! Where?" Dot's voice cut through her brother his sentence. Yakko grabbed Hat by the fake beard and gasped in disbelieve "Guys, this Santa is fake," he said, making the beard snap back in Hat's face.Dot gasped in surprise, "How dare he mock Santa," the female Warner said as she gabbed a baseball bat from seemingly no where and took a swing at Hat's face.The demon narrowly dodged the swing, making it hit the hat on Flug's bag, who was frozen in place by the spectacle that was unfolding before his very eyes. Dot caught the elf hat that was flung across the room and put it on her head "I am one of Santa's elves right now," she said proudly as she grabbed a pink ribbon out of nowhere at all and started wrapping the sled up in it "This is a big one boy's I need some more help here," she called and both her brothers grabbed a ribbon as well.Wakko started at the spot where the button the steal Christmas was placed and wrapped it tightly in green ribbons so Hat couldn't press it anymore.The elder demon started to struggle as the Warners had fully wrapped his sled in pink, green and yellow ribbons.The demon screeched in frustration until a light flipped on in the living room."What now," Hat growled as he saw Bendy, Boris, Cup, Mugs, Holly, Felix, and Alice at the top of the staircase, only Cup seemed partially amused because of Hat's situations, but the others only stood there, disappointment written all over their faces."The Warner trap did its job," Holly said with a smug smile as she held her hand in the air and Felix hit it, "Truly a great idea we came up with isn't it," the cat adventurer said.Then and there, Cup broke out in laughter as he pointed at Hat's face, "H.. He has a.. a pink ri.. ribbon 'round his neck," he managed to say before erupting into laughter once more.Mugs chuckled and Bendy smiled trying to hold his own laughter back as he spoke "Alright Hat, we might not know why you're here, but I'm very happy to throw you back out," he started and then Granny walked into view "But Granny here is too good of a soul and has somethin' ta say to ya," Mugman continued;Hat growled as he quickly closed the magic portal in the wall of the house.The elderly gopher spoke up "Hat and Flug too of course, we don't know why you are here but if it is to steal our presents that won't ruin Christmas for us, if it is to ruin our tree it won't ruin Christmas for us either, even if you are here to steal my turkey's I still wouldn't be mad and Christmas would still be going on in this house. Do you want to know why that would be the case?" Granny asked as she looked at the demon lord.Hat sighed finally accepting his defeat, his plan wouldn't have worked, so he might as well ask "Tell me why, why wouldn't it be ruined even if I steal your food, presents, decorations, tree, and everything else?" he said facing the gopher.Granny chuckled, "Because Christmas is all about being with the people you love and having a great time together. It's about laughter and joy, not about opening a gift or eating an expensive turkey," she said with a happy smile "And, so I'd like to invite you to spend Christmas with us, no one should have to spend it alone," she finished making Hat's jaw drop in shock while Flug still stood in shock his mind still catching up with all that was going on."Still don't agree with this plan, but Granny is the boss," Cup said "Do anythin' wrong if ya stay, and I'll ruin ur demon life," he added with a cold tone.Hat sighed before looking away, "Fine, we'll be here tomorrow," Hat said as he magically moved himself away from the house, taking his sled with him."Oh how fun, guess I'll need more appetizers," Granny said with a smile as she moved back upstairs to continue sleeping until it was time to start preparing the food.
The doorbell rang quickly as 8 in the morning approached, Felix opened the door to be faced with Oswald and Mickey."Good morning, you guys are early," Felix said as the tips of his ears got a bit hot;"Of course wouldn't miss a second of today's party, sadly the kids couldn't come along and Goofy is babysitting on them. Donald and Daisy are having dinner at his nephew's house and Minnie is running her flower shop so it's just us," Oswald said and Felix smiled "Oh it's fine glad you could already bring yourselves," he said.Mickey then handed him a box with chocolates "For inviting us," he said with a sweet smile."You shouldn't have," Felix said as he accepted the box."Oh don't say that, we wanted to give you a little something so here ya go," Oswald said a he showed that stellar smile of his.Felix stared for a second and then said "Come in guy's, it's cold outside you and inside is where the party is going on after all," he said as he waved his arm at the inside of the house inviting the brothers inside.
