“Not exactly what I expected when you said ‘luxurious retreat’, Parkinson,” George said, grinning. “Family fall on hard times?”Pansy glared at him as she strode up the wooden steps. “I’d say something rude about your family, Weasley, but luckily for you I’ve grown as a person.” She sniffed disdainfully. “Unlike some, I did not stay the juvenile adolescent of my youth.” With a flick of her hair, she walked inside.“Clearly, not that much growth,” Blaise murmured under his breath as he walked past, making George stifle a laugh. Shaking his head, he followed the rest of the group up the short flight of steps into the cabin. In all honesty, it was a beautiful cabin. Warm furnishings complemented by a crackling fire and plush seating, with seasonal decorations of holly and evergreen boughs dotted around the room.“Well,” George said, looking around, “I foresee many a good time being had here.” He waggled his eyebrows and reached into his bag. “Saying that, shall we kick off the festivities with some appropriate Yule-inspired booze?” If Christmas wasn’t the time to try Firewhiskey flavoured with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, then what was?“I’m in,” Theo said with a grimace. “This week has been hell, and I would very much like to forget it. Granger?” He looked to his fiance, who gave an emphatic nod.“Gods, yes,” Hermione replied. “I bought some Muggle playing cards as well, if anyone is interested in trying a few games?” At their murmured assent, she glanced at George and said, “Just let me drop my bags and I’ll be there.”At her words, Harry twitched.“Problem, Harold?” George knew what was coming, but no need to make the younger wizard comfortable.“You could say that,” he said slowly. “Okay, so, there are six of us, and three rooms.”George crossed his arms. “So?”“Well, obviously Pansy and I will share a room, same with Theo and Hermione, but,” Harry shoved a hand through his hair. “Unless one of you wants to sleep on the couch-”“No.”“Hell no.”“-you and Blaise will have to share the remaining room.” Harry started speaking quickly. “I forgot that Pans’ had invited Blaise, and then I invited you last week, and now that you're both here I’m realising how awkward this will be for the two of you and I’m really sorry.”George could feel his lips twitching. He cleared his throat, trying desperately to control his expression. He refused to look at Blaise to check his reaction.“Uh,” he cleared his throat quickly. “Well, I think that will be fine. We’re grown ups, not to mention wizards, so-”“Yeah, about that.” If possible, Harry looked even more awkward. “Due to certain reparations owed by certain families due to certain war efforts . . . you can use magic in the cabin, you just can’t transfigure any rooms or furniture. Even temporarily.” He winced, as if waiting for George to start yelling.Blaise jumped in before he could think of a reply.“That’s fine, Potter,” he said, his quiet putting everyone at ease. “With some spare blankets, I’m sure we’ll figure something out.”“Yeah, wouldn’t want anyone to get cold,” George muttered under his breath. “Unlike some people, I run hot when I sleep.”Unruffled, Blaise simply raised an eyebrow and mouthed ‘ Stop it’ before saying to Harry, “We’ll get it sorted, don’t worry.” He picked up his bags. “Andiamo, George. Let’s see what we have to work with.”George fell in behind Blaise, biting his tongue so hard it nearly started bleeding. Once they were in the room, he dropped his bags and cast a quick locking charm under his breath.“So,” Blaise said, a look in his eyes that George knew very well. “What are we going to do?”“Hmmm, I’m not sure what you mean, Zabini,” he replied, leaning nonchalantly against the closed door, feeling his breath quicken as Blaise strode across the small space to loom over him. “Should we tell them that this bed really isn’t fit for two fully grown men? Or that I refuse to sleep on the floor, and so do you, so we’re at an impasse? Or,” George said, feeling heat pool low in his belly, “should we tell them that we’ve been dating for months, and one bed will do just fine?”“Stop talking.” Blaise used his bigger frame to crowd him against the door, and George groaned as he felt lips ghost along his neck.“Deal,” he said breathily, “But only if you kiss me right now, or I swear to Merlin-”Thankfully, his boyfriend wasted no time, and the last thing to cross George’s mind as he was dragged to the bed was, I hope Blaise remembered the silencing charm, otherwise our friends are about to learn a few things.
