It was a bright and clear day, the sky a beautiful baby blue and barely any clouds in sight. Summer time was upon the bright city of New York, people walking about and birds chirping with no issues. There was the occasional whacko but everybody knew it as the usual New York, the place where dreams come true and people are weird. Central Park was especially beautiful this time of year, with the trees being as green as ever and the light hitting the park just right. Donatello walked through the park, April's arm looped with his own. They held coffees in their hands, talking to each other about nothing and everything. It was nice for Donnie, spending time with his beautiful wife. He didn't get a lot of time already with being a hero of New York with his brothers and being his own free lance inventor. He took any moment he could to be with April, surviving off her presence alone."Okay, but explain to me how the thrusters work again cause it doesn't make sense." April said, taking a sip of her caramel coffee.Donnie huffed playfully with a soft yet smug smirk. "Well, it works off of plasma, a substance we don't come by often but is found in abundances in the Hidden City." He explained and slowly started to ramble about the mechanisms of his latest invention.April nodded along, some of it making sense and some of it not so much. All she knew was that Donnie was making a test rocket for some guy's experiment and it was going to pay well. She was just happy to see Donnie happy that his work is being recognized now. They slowly came upon a playground, many kids running back and forth and squealing at one another as they played. She smiled behind her coffee, the steam warming her face and feeling almost fluffy inside, as her eyes drifted across the playground. Tiny hands tagged one another, little feet struggled to get onto the structures, and big grins with missing teeth laugh in delight. Donatello stopped mid talking, noticing April stopped nodding and humming along, and looked to where she looked. He blinked, watching the little children run and play. Children weren't something Donnie ever thought he'd find adorable in a way. Yes they were gross and slimy, sticky too, but they were sponges in Donnie's brain. Little beings learning about the world and wanting to know everything, and he could greatly respect that and almost find it endearing in a way.April hummed and looked up at Donnie. "Is that a smile I see? You are so entertained by kids!" She teased, squeezing his arm.Donnie looked down at her quickly, the small smile that creeped up on his face dropping back to his monotone mug. He rolled his eyes and blew a small raspberry. "You see wrong, my dear. I am merely studying these small kids as they are sponges. They are... fascinating to observe. for developmental science!" He said with a shrug.April hummed and gave a nod, not at all convinced. Donnie huffed and looked back at the playground, watching the little humans and yokai run around without a care in the world. It's as if they aren't burdened by knowledge of the future, as if what tomorrow brings isn't even a factor in their silly equations. It was endearing, watching child like wonder be fascinated by the smallest things. Donnie felt his chest warm and yet feel empty in a way. His brows furrowed and shrugged the feeling off. He'll focus on that later. He was tugged out of his thoughts, literally, as he felt a sudden pull on his pant leg. He and April looked down and saw a little girl standing there. Tears sat in her big brown eyes, her hands holding onto her pink tutu in a tight grip, and she sniffled softly. "H-Have you seen my mommy? I-I can't f-find her." The little girl, no older than 6, asked.Donnie was to stunned to move but April quickly knelt down and gave a heart warming smile. "I'm sorry, Sweetpea. We just got here. She probably just wandered off, she'll be right back." April reassured. "How about this, me and my husband can stay with you until your Mommy gets back, that sound okay?" April asked with a tilt of her head. The little girl nodded, taking her tiny hands and rubbing at her red pudgy cheeks. It pulled at Donnie's heart in ways he didn't expect and even more as April threw away the rest of her coffee and picked up the little girl. She walked to the playground, the child bouncing with every step April took. She turned around, the child perched on her arm and hip and gave a teasing smile. "Well aren't you coming Donnie? I think this little lady would like a piggy back ride~." April sang, earning a small giggle from the child.Donnie huffed and rolled his eyes again, tossing his coffee in the trash and walked over. "Oh please, all you have to do is ask and I will be at every whim, even for a snotty child at your request." He sighed. He plucked the little girl out of April's arms, thanking whatever being above this toddler wasn't contaminated with substances she found or her own snot, and set her upon his shoulders. She was a bit higher as the battle shell latches almost acted like a booster seat. The child's small hands grabbed his mask and goggles, her red cheeks no longer red and the tears now slowly drying. "Where to, small infant?" Donnie asked, earning a giggle."I'm not an in-inf-fant!" She said."Hmm I suppose you are right. You must be a toddler with how small you are! Silly me." He said, moving towards the swing sets first. The child giggled again and patted his forehead. "I'm five and you-you'-you are big!" She giggled, her little palm and fingers covering one of Donnie's eyes.April followed with her arms crossed. She watched as Donnie set the child on the swings and pushed her. She squealed and kicked her feet and Donnie let the smallest of smiles go, making April's heart beat faster at the display in front of her. Donnie looked good like this, as if he belonged in this picture. He was always good with kids, Shelldon and Casey Jr a good example of that. She wondered what he would be like with his own kids, maybe their own little ones. April's heart jumped and just as quick as the thought came she shook it away and joined the two. The small group ran around, playing on the swings, watching the little girl play on the play structures and drew a bit with some chalk they found on the ground. The longer they stayed with the child, the more April noticed Donnie became softer, so soft in fact that she could only recall him being that soft in their home with her. It was sweet and melted April's heart."Is that a dog?" Donnie asked, pausing in his chalk art, which was just a messy blue print he was mindlessly making, to see what the five year old was creating. The little girl hummed and tilted her head greatly. "Hmm no! ...Maybe." She said, puffing her cheeks out."Well, I think it's a good dog." April commented."As she had said, it is a good pink and orange mammal." Donnie said, earning a playful punch from April. The little girl grinned wide and thanked the two. She continued to draw, Donnie joining her and commenting every now and than. "Abby! Oh my god, Abby, there you are!" A woman called, running up to the group. The little girl squealed and jolted up, running over to the worried mother with out stretched arms. "Mommy! Mommy!" Abby yelled happily, being swooped up into the mother's arms. "These nice people stayed with me until you found me!" She said, pointing excitedly at April and Donnie.Donnie stood, April in toe, and the mother smiled kindly. "Thank you so much. Abby wanders off sometimes and I couldn't find her at all. Thank you so much for keeping her safe." She thanked, earning a hand wave from April."It's no problem. We didn't want this little sweetie getting in trouble and knew you'd come looking." April hummed."I better take her home since it's almost her nap time now. Again, thank you so much." The mother thanked. She turned her head to Abby and took her little hand and held it. "What do you say, sweetie?" She asked."Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Nice People!" Abby said with a wide grin.Donnie smiled and waved the two goodbye. "See you around, Abby. Stay safe now." He informed, watching as the two walked away. The two watched the mother and child walk away, chattering and holding one another. Donnie's brows knitted together, his chest warm and fuzzy but the missing feeling grew. He looked to April, the feeling growing bigger even more as he watched the fond expression on her face. Kids alluded him and yet also fascinated him. Donnie couldn't say he didn't have children of his own, Shelldon a good example as one of his kids, but now that Shelldon was 'grown' that feeling came back twice as hard. April looked up at him and quirked an eyebrow, their eyes locked and Donnie could feel his stomach drop but his hope rise."Everything okay, Dee?" She asked.Donnie opened his mouth, then closed his promptly. He looked away and thought for a moment before giving a nod and wrapping his arms around April's shoulders. "Yeah, everything is perfect." He said, planting a kiss on April's temple.April nodded and wrapped her arm around Donnie's waist and squeezed for a moment. The two continued on their walk and talked about everything except for the big elephant in the air. Donnie was grateful for that but also a bit down about it. He didn't need kids and it wasn't a good time anyway with April's News Reporter job and Donnie not having alot of time on his hands anyway with all his inventing and crime fighting. But the idea was still there, kneading at his mind and pulling at every heart string he had. He'll bring it up with April another day, soon. But soon turns into a few days, then a couple of months. Months passed since the time at the park and Donnie was still plagued by those thoughts. Kids, babies, everything in between. Donnie couldn't go a week without seeing a kid and thinking 'What if April and me had one? Or two? Two wouldn't hurt.' and it was driving him up a wall. He was standing on top of a roof with his brother's, Leo patching a scrape on Mikey's knee and Raph over looking the streets below. Donnie peered down and sighed, narrowing his eyes as he watched people walk, his eyes drifting to the parents or kids. His heart squeezed and he huffed, looking away. He wondered if baby fever was contagious as Raph had his own baby, Casey Jr., a week before the park.Leo raised his gaze to Donnie before looking at Mikey, who only gave a silent shrug in return. Leo had noticed Donnie's irritability rising over the couple of months, seeming to clock out at random moments or was deep in thought when he came to visit. He even started to spend more time with Casey Jr. and Casey Sr. , claiming he was spending uncle and nephew time like building his new inventions or seeing where Junior's cognitive functions sat at. He knew Donnie had a lot on his plate but it was starting to get concerning. He quickly finished patching Mikey up and stood. He placed his hands on his hips and smirked at Donnie. "Hey, Don-Don, you with us or on Mars right now?" He asked, earning a snap of Donnie's confused gaze at him.Donnie gave an incredulous look, the ridge of his muzzle scrunching up and his eyebrows lifting in confusion. "Wha-oh right, joke." Donnie muttered with realization. He waved Leo off with a monotone stare. "Yes, I'm fine, Nardo. Just have a lot on my mind is all." Donnie said with a shrug.Leo quirked an eyebrow up and nodded. "Uh huh, mind sharing with your dear brothers?" He asked, placing a hand upon his chest and his other motioning to their brothers behind him.Donnie flicked his gaze away to the streets below, his brows knitting together. He mulled it over in his head for a moment but ultimately declined the idea. It wasn't a big deal, just a small hiccup in his mind. "...It's not important." He said and straightened up.Leo and Mikey gave him an unconvinced faces. Raph looked over with a raised brow, his big brother's senses tingling Donnie could imagine. "Come on, Donnie, that was a horrible lie and you know it." Mikey prodded. "It can't be that hard to tell us, right? We're your brothers!" Mikey asked, giving an encouraging smile.Donnie bit the inside of his cheek and tilted his head back, his chin pointing to the sky as he closed his eyes. "Nope." He huffed.Leo's snout scrunched up in annoyance and strode over, dropping his arm over Donnie's shoulder. "Oh come on, hermano! You've been super out of it for a bit, please tell uuuuuss." Leo groaned, shaking Donnie slightly.Donnie turned his head away, his mask tails slapping Leo's cheek, and scoffed. "Annoyed scoff, it's not that big of a deal!" Donnie said defiantly, his eyes closed and chin turned up. "...Maybe." He sighed as he realized his resolve was dissolving at his finger tips.Mikey grinned wide and clasped his hands together. "Oooohh tell us, tell us!" Mikey squealed.Donnie's eyes twitched for a moment, really thinking if he should bring his brother's opinions on it. He looked to Raph, the most knowledgeable about this, and sighed. He knew he couldn't keep this bottled up but he didn't know how to bring it up with April without it being awkward. He stuffed his hands in his trench coat pockets and pressed his chin into his chest."I...Sigh, I have been thinking about
children, or well having kids." Donnie sighed."¿Qué?" Leo said, his jaw dropping.Raph choked and quickly pounded a fist on his chest while Mikey's grin grew to a concerning size. Mikey scrambled off the ground and jumped on Donnie, grabbing both of his cheeks in a vice grip. "YOU AND APRIL WANT KIDS?! WHEN?! OR WHEN IS THE DUE DATE, IS SHE PREGNANT ALREADY?! WHY-" Mikey rattled, shaking Donnie's head.Donnie grunted and reached up, peeling Mikey off of him and setting him down. "NO! I mean-" Donnie said, a sigh following after. "No, me and April haven't talked about it. I don't know how to." He said, his hand coming up and rubbing the back of his neck.It was quiet for a moment, a bit to quiet for Donnie, until Leo's hand clapped down on the soft shell's shoulder. "It can't be that hard! Just walk up and say 'Hey, love of my life, I want to have a baby with you.' and boom, kid in your arm nine months later." Leo said with a proud smile."Wow, and I thought you couldn't get anymore cruder and some how it still baffles me. Applause." Donnie said and proceeded to give a slow clap.Raph rolled his eyes and came up, putting his hand on Donnie's other shoulder. "Hey, look, it's not easy discussing this stuff. I know when me and Cass started talking, it was awkward but we figured it out. This is something you and April gotta get through. Just, you know, don't beat around the bush. Takes way to long." He said and gave an encouraging smile. "And who knows, maybe something might bring the topic up. The world is weird like that." Raph chuckled.Donnie slowly gave a nod, somewhat understanding what Raph meant. The snapper gave Donnie a squeeze before letting go, the topic officially dropping as they moved out from their spot and went to finish patrol. Even with a clearer head, Donnie still was stuck on the idea of kids, so much so at the end he called it quits and bided his brother's goodnight. They all gave him sympathetic or encouraging smiles, making Donnie warm but also want to slap them, and said goodnight to him.He jumped from roof top to roof top, letting the wind and smells of the city drown out his thoughts, until he got to his street. He jumped down from a building and landed on a dumpster with a grunt. He sighed and shifted, sitting on top of the dumpster and resting his head in his hands. He shouldn't be affected by this but he was. Last he recalled, it wasn't near Spring at all and was going into the colder months so he couldn't blame it on his turtle instincts. Nor could he blame 'baby fever' due to Raph not having it as bad now unlike when Casey Jr. was born, and also that it wasn't a real illness Donnie hadn't proven yet, but he knew a good answer to all of this. He just didn't want to admit it aloud. How do you admit you've always wanted kids yet to scared to because of so many reasons? He didn't know and didn't want to try. You could say he did try once with Shelldon, and many other half baked machines, but he was a complete accident and the product of unknown usage of ninpo. But it wasn't the same thing as making an actual living being, made of flesh and bone with a working brain and small little limbs that could get hurt by anything. He placed his palm against his face and slid it down to his snout, blinking his eyes open and stared down at the mucky concrete ground. "Get it together, Donatello. You can live without it, until April brings it up....Until she brings it." He reminded himself like a mantra. He stood up and jumped off the dumpster, his feet slamming into the ground and bended his knees for cushion. He went to stand when a rustle and a faint noise was heard. He went rigid and whipped around. His eyes stared down the alley, the darkness being somewhat of a nuisance but Donnie could see way better than a human's or Yokai's. There were a few trash bags here and there, nothing of significance. Donnie slowly went to look away, thinking it was just a rat until the noise happened again. Donnie strained his ears and narrowed his eyes, looking for the source this time. Again, the noise rang out, louder to Donnie as it didn't sound like a rat at all. More like a pitiful whine. Donnie stood and slowly walked down the alley, his eyes peering over the trash bags and the the random bins. He stopped suddenly as a backpack shifted at his feet. He went rigid, staring down at it like it was a bomb. The sound started again, louder and clear of what it was. A whine and gurgled hiccup, one that Donnie could never mistake as he had heard it plenty of time from many situations. He quickly knelt down and pulled the backpack closer, the fabric muddy from the alley's dirty floor and from wear and tear. He slowly and carefully zipped it open, pulling the opening back and staring at what was inside. His breathe hitched and his eyes widened as the sounds turned into full blown wails. A small baby, so small that Donnie could have mistaken the baby for being born yesterday, in an oversized blue onesie. The baby's skin was shade of brown and his cheeks were so red that it deeply concerned the terrapin. Donnie quickly looked up and around, trying to find anyone or any clues as to how this baby got here. He bit his lip and looked down again, not sure what to do. He barely ever held a baby before, his nephew maybe once or twice but Donnie didn't want to hold him a lot incase he spat up on him.Donnie internally groaned and rotated his eyes to the sky. "Please don't spit up on me. Pleeeaaseee don't spit up on me." He begged quietly as he scooped the baby out of the backpack. He grimaced, standing up and kicked the backpack away, and placed the baby in the crook of his arm. He turned his gaze down the wailing new born, their little face scrunched up and screaming at the top of their little lungs. Donnie gulped and started to bounce the baby slowly. "Oh, oh no that won't do at all. Sh shh sh you're okay. Please don't cry? I am not good with comforting people, let alone infants." He said, hesitantly reaching a finger forward and poked the baby's red cheek. The baby's wails turned into hiccups as they quickly latched their flailing limbs onto Donnie's finger. His eyes widened again as the baby's scrunched up face calmed, their tears slowly falling in silent hiccups as they pulled Donnie's finger close to them. Donatello's heart stuttered at the sight of the baby's cheek nuzzling into the pad of his finger. His face softened as he pulled the new born even closer. They were so small, so innocent. Donnie felt so many things at once, he wasn't sure what it was. He thought on where to take them, where they could be safe and warm as the air started to get chilly."Now who would leave you here?" He mumbled, turning and walking down to the mouth of the alley. "You're so tiny, you'll freeze. How are you that tiny? No matter, we'll figure something out for you." He said, mindlessly rambling now.He absent mindedly wondered how the baby and April would feel about the name 'Einstein' or any other intelligent name.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
New York city was beautiful at night, the city lights brightening the streets as if the sun never gone out and people of many diversities walking to and fro. April hummed, her fingers drumming against the steering wheel. She sighed, today was not her day. Being given every piece she had to report on was nothing more than droll news that any intern could work on and having to deal with her sub-camera man, which she vaguely remembered his name being Vern, because her original camera guy was out sick. That wasn't even the end of it as she ran around following the bigger reporters and being dismissed a lot more than she should have been. She grumbled to herself, her finger pads drumming harder against the steering wheel as she thought. She just wanted to go home, eat, and snuggle with her big husband. Was that to much to ask for in this time of need?Looked like it wasn't, as the red stop light turned green letting the woman finally make the turn down her neighborhood. She hummed, a small smile upon her lips. She followed along the usual road, seeing people walk into their apartments and condos, and seeing the usual cat lady calling in her cats from the window. She snorted, watching as Ms. Hendrick got all five of her cats inside. April finally got in front of her complex, parking the car and got out. She locked the door, walking around and to the front door. As usual, she was greeted by the front desk lady, giving her niceties and quickly walked to the elevator. She puffed out some air as the elevator doors closed and pulled out her phone. Her brows furrowed as she didn't see any new texts from Donnie. "Weird..." She mumbled. "Eh, he's probably making dinner and wants it to be a surprise. God I hope it's something like pizza." April sighed, her stomach rumbling. After a minute, the elevator dinged and April stepped out, looking between the halls before she walked down to her sweet home's front door. In the beginning, she lived in a crappy apartment complex, which wasn't bad but definitely didn't work out for when her and Donnie started discussing the idea of living together. Then Donnie started taking side jobs, definitely not also hacking bank accounts, and they moved to this complex and into their own penthouse. It made April happy, even if they lived in a shabby apartment together she'd always be happy. It just made her a little happier being able to pamper Donnie with how much he had done for them both. Of course, she pulled her load and added her income to the penthouse. She almost fought Donnie on the matter. She giggled at the memory, pulling out her keys and unlocking the door. She stepped inside and breathed a sigh of relief. She reached down and started to slip her shoes off. "I'm home!" She called. No answer came and April raised an eyebrow at that. She clicked on her phone and checked the time once more, seeing Donnie should be home by now. "Dee? Hey, Big Guy, you home?" April called once more, dropping her bag on the hanger by the door and placing her eyes in the key bowl, and walked into their home furtherA small shuffle was heard in the living room, a wall running along the front end of it blocking April's vision. "In here! Sorry, was a bit distracted." The voice of Donnie called, the shuffling ceasing.April smiled and gave a soft hum, nodding as she brought her hand up and ran it through her hair. "Let me guess? New invention?" She called, walking to a small hallway table and grabbing a random hair tie off it. She was very grateful Donnie kept those everywhere in the house for her."Eh... Not exactly." Donnie said, his voice going softer.April gave a confused look, unsure of what Donnie meant. She pulled her hair back, her feet carrying her to the living room, and pulled the hair tie up to her hair. "What do you meaaann...?" April started to ask, her words trailing off as she finally made it to the living room, her hair falling from her raised hands. In the middle of the wide living room, Donnie sat with crossed legs. His boots were chucked off, lopsided on the floor a few feet away, along with his coat and utility belt. His hand rested in a glowing purple carrier, what inside having April's jaw almost meet the floor. In the carrier sat a small baby, chubby and very young. She blinked a couple of times, almost wanting to lift her hands and wipe at her eyes."...Dee?" April hesitantly called."Hm?" Donnie acknowledged, not taking his eyes off of the small infant."What....What's that you got there?" April asked once more as she rocked on the balls of her feet, definitely not on the verge of a freak out.Donnie took a moment to answer, his head turning to April and gave her a dazed blink before he shook his head and came back down to reality for just a moment. "Oh uh...A baby." He said, giving an affirmative nod.April gave a slow nod, her eyes not leaving the little human's face. She took a deep breathe and turned away, taking a step behind the wall. Donnie gave a confused look as he wasn't sure what April was doing. April turned right back around and came into the living room, her stride wide and kind of frantic. She stood in front of Donnie and leaned down to him.She clasped her hands together in front of her mouth and bounced on her knees slightly, words forming in her head but nothing tumbling out. "...Donnie. Hun. My leather pancake," She said, earning a playfully offended look from the terrapin at the last pet name. "Please, please my beautiful handsome and smart husand," She slowly begged, grabbing both of his cheeks with her hands. "Please tell me you did not fucking kidnap a baby." April whispered intensely."...I did not kidnap a baby...technically speaking." Donnie informed.April flung her hands back and gestured at the baby. "Then why is there a flipping baby in our living room?!" April whisper yelled. Donnie opened his mouth, ready to speak, when April quickly covered it with her hand. "A good explanation, Dee." She said with a no nonsense tone.Donnie blinked at her for a moment, waiting as her hand slipped down from his mouth. "I do have a good explanation actually." He said. "I found this baby, this fetus essentially, in a backpack in an alleyway. Don't worry, I checked if he had any illnesses, needs any vaccinations and-" He said, his words starting to ramble, until April's hand raised again.Donnie shut his mouth and kept his gaze trained on April. She took a deep breathe and sat down, her legs folded under her and hands lowering to her lap. She looked between him and the infant in the swing, her thoughts running and heart beating so loud it almost flooded every sense she had at the moment. She looked at the baby, a child that was abandoned in a backpack- who even does that- and was cute enough to make Donnie not turn a blind eye. Oh who was she kidding, Donnie had a soft spot for all children but he just refused to show it. She bit her lip, her heart pulling apart as the baby shifted in his swing and put his little fist in his mouth. She couldn't lie, he was adorable but they had more concerns than just the kid.She sighed, reaching up and pushing her hair back. "Dee, look, it is so great of you to bring this baby home but we need to take him to the police." She said, reaching forward and placing a hand on his forearm.Donnie's face fell and he looked at her like a lost puppy, essentially ripping April's heart apart. "What? I mean, let me rephrase-" He quickly said and cleared his throat. "I know it's unexpected but what are the police going to do? They will just throw him into the foster care system, or return him to whoever tossed him out. I know we never discussed kids but..." Donnie said, his words rambled and unsure as he spoke.April ran her thumb over his forearm, tracing the small purple markings in a soothing pattern. She looked down to the sleeping baby, his pudgy face peaceful and cheeks red. She hesitantly reached her other hand to the baby, her fingers stroking his tiny fists. His hands opened and latched onto her fingers, cooing softly with a small kick of his feet. April's heart blossomed as his little face scrunched up, pouting in his sleep at the small disturbance. She sighed deeply and looked back to Donnie, who was staring back at her. She knew all to well of his love for the small human beings, or yokai. It was apparent at the park and even apparent when they were teens themselves. Even if his 'emotionally unavailable bad boy' phase didn't allow him to show it, he had a soft spot for small things. She looked back to the baby and sighed deeply. "...We're still gonna take him to the police." She said. Donnie's shoulders slumped, his chest rumbling in an involuntary whine. "But, you better find a good adoption agency before then." April added on, a smile pulling at her lips as she cooed at the baby.Donnie sat up, straight as a board, with wide eyes. "Really?" He asked, jaw slack and almost meeting the floor.April giggled and lifted her hand from his arm, cupping his cheek. "Yes, baby. Look, I want kids too. I just didn't think it would be like this. Maybe we can discuss that in detail down the road, when this little guy is a bit bigger maybe." April said with a hum.Donnie stared at her for a moment longer before lunging forward, his arms encasing her and tackling her to the ground. "Thank you! Oh thank you thank you thank you, my beautiful north star!" Donnie squealed, rubbing his cheek against April's with a loving churr. "You won't regret this at all! You will be the best mother the world has ever seen, I promise you." He said.April giggled as Donnie proceeded to plant a kiss on every surface and crevice of her face. She booped his nose and hummed happily, her heart warming at the huge and adoring grin upon his face. "Yeah yeah, you better get on some adoption stuff tomorrow cause we do gotta do it the proper way, okay?" She asked.Donnie nodded quickly and planted a kiss on her nose. "Of course, my love. Anything for you." He hummed happily. The warmth around them was broken as the mystic baby swing moved slightly, whimpers and fussing starting up. Donnie and April sat up, the baby moving his arms and fussing about. April reached forward, cooing softly at the little guy, and picked him up. The baby kicked his feet, squirming before being situated in April's arms."Oh, did we wake you up? I'm so sorry, Sweetie." She said and planted a kiss on his head."Aaw, we woke Einstein up." He chuffed.April raised an eyebrow at Donnie, bouncing the baby slightly and patted his back. "Einstein? You're crazy if you think we are naming our baby 'Einstein'." She said.Donnie snorted and rolled his eyes. "What? Einstein is a good name!" He said. "It is the name of one of the greatest scientist of all time, you know." He said with a smirk.April looked unconvinced. "Uh huh, sure. But nope, it ain't gonna be Einstein." She said. She leaned against Donnie, moving the baby to lay in her arms. His eyes closed again, her little fist coming up and pressing against his mouth. Donnie wrapped his arms around April and the little one, his chin resting atop April's head. He was so small and so perfect in April's eyes the more she watched him. She could see how he stole Donnie's heart so easily now.Donnie was silent as he stared at the baby, obviously thinking as his eyebrows moved in thought. "What about Edgar? Like, Edgar Allen Poe?" He asked.April persed her lips and hummed. "Like the poet? Why?" She asked, tilting her head back to look at Donnie."Well, Edgar didn't start out the greatest but he turned into something great. If you ignore how his life ended, that is how this little one would be. Found in a backpack but is going to become something great someday." Donnie reasoned, his hand coming up and cupping the back of the baby's head.April thought about her, her gaze turning back down to the baby and tilted her head. "Edgar...Yeah, Edgar Allen Hamato-O'Neil. I like it." She said. The two giggled as Edgar kicked his feet again."I guess you aren't the only one, huh Edgar?" Donnie asked, rubbing the top of Edgar's head as the little one shifted closer to April.
