“Flynn, are you sure this is a good idea?”Tron glanced at the latest shop added to Tron City’s Delta Sector. Its logo had no trace of the traditional binary code work like the rest of the city. Instead, the shop had depicted what the Users called a mug. Clu was next to Flynn, adding the finishing touches to the shop.“I think the Creator’s idea is perfect. Programs do need to start their cycles with their…” The sysadmin paused.“Coffee, Clu,” replied Flynn. “Back in the real world, a mass majority of Users start their day with a cup of coffee. It’s not my jam but I know a few programmers who like their coffee…what’s the word I’m looking for…uhhh French pressed.”Tron and Clu tilted their heads. It’s going to be a while for programs to get accustomed to Userisms. Flynn chuckled as he gave Tron and Clu a rundown of how coffee shops work, which led to Clu standing behind the counter. Tron was still unsure of introducing another User confection to the Grid since they've already detected several issues with this new system already. Although Flynn asked him to participate, Tron decided not to and went with the Creator to the back of the shop. Flynn began working his User magic, coding up a simulation of one of the well renowned coffee shops back in the real world. The CalTech nostalgia began to hit the Creator as he added the last set of details to the simulation. Flynn had a series of buttons ready to push as he began yelling towards Clu. “Ok, Clu. I got things situated and I’m all set with the simulation. Are you ready?”Clu nodded. Tron turned to the Creator. “I’m still unsure of this idea, Flynn. I think programs are fine with just energy.”“We’ll see how it goes, and besides, I have the perfect customer in mind for Clu.”Flynn began the simulation, and the system began rezzing up a program. Tron’s eyes widened at who Flynn was coding up. From the structure, it was not a basic program and all the internal security alarms started to go off in Tron’s neural processors. Flynn had rezzed the MCP. The tyrannical program from the old system had appeared in the simulation, and Tron immediately went for his disc. Clu had already had some similar behaviors to the chess program and Tron didn’t want to have any of it. Flynn turned around, panicking. “Woah, take it easy, man. It’s not him.”“And?” Tron argued. “You thought he would be a good example of a customer? Flynn, you and I both have seen demanding customers at Zuse’s club. Why the MCP?”Flynn let out a snort.“Just wait till you see the settings I implemented on our old chess program friend here.”Tron facepalmed. Yep, definitely not having it this cycle.Clu could not stop looking at the MCP’s form. How was he able to move around?  He heard Flynn talking about his previous version from the old system, explaining the successful hacks of dealing with what Flynn called parking tickets. Of course, Clu didn’t like that his old self had been derezzed by the hourglass looking program in front of him. “Go ahead and begin, Clu,” yelled Flynn. Clu cleared his throat, remembering all the tips and information Flynn lectured him about this coffee.“Greetings, program. How can I help you?” “Venti pumpkin spice latte with almond milk.”“Ok, can I get a designation?”“Master Control Program. MCP for short.”Tron started to quietly laugh. He returned his discs back to his back and gave Flynn a smirk. “Are there Users that are selective in their coffee?”“Plenty, Tron. Let’s just say the MCP fits right in with the Users I’ve seen at these places.”“Oh, I’m going to enjoy this.”Tron began giggling with delight. Clu was being an annoyance this cycle so the security program didn’t mind watching the sysadmin get a taste of his own medicine.  Clu took mental note of the MCP’s order and began working on it. All the mixtures, creams, and cups were all lined up in front of him. It seemed like Flynn had coded up a majority of what these coffee shops but there was one thing missing. “Frag, where’s the almond milk?”Clu scurried around the workstation, having no luck finding the almond milk. “I’m waiting, script.”Users, that tone was intense to Clu, causing him to spill a series of milks and creams on the floor. He took one glare at the MCP, and the program continued to stare him down. Clu sighed, finding the nearest milk to use. He can only pray to Flynn that the MCP won’t get mad. Clu placed the finished cup on the counter. “Venti pumpkin spice latte for MCP.”Clu watched as the MCP formed a set of arms to take a drink. Pretty sure Flynn didn’t mention him having arms in the first place, but Clu decided to roll with it. The MCP took a sip and the expression he made did not look good. His eyebrows lowered and held up the coffee.“Excuse me.”Clu quietly scuttled to the counter, feeling all kinds of nervous. “Yes, sir?”“I asked for almond milk.”“Uh…” Errors began to appear in front of Clu. Why did Flynn make such an imperfect simulation?“I’m sorry. We don’t have any almond milk.”This became the first time Clu saw the meanest expression on a program and it will certainly not be the last.“This is absurd. Where’s your manager, program?”“Flynn, turn this off at once,” demanded Clu.The Creator didn’t respond.“FLYNN?” Clu glanced in the Creator and Tron’s direction and saw the two on the floor, having an unstoppable laughing fit. Clu began to make a similar frown as the MCP while the old tyrant continued to complain about his coffee order. He will get back at them for this, and it isn’t going to be pretty. No, thought Clu. It will be perfect.
