Work Text
Another regular day in Blue Sun Street where the birds are chirping, breezes are passing and the people seem to be livelier than ever
oh, and plus the young boy who’s always walking around town daily.
It’s been like this since the last 2 months.
Before that, he had spent his time as a shut in for 3 months since moving here and didn’t have that many friends to begin with. no one really seemed to know much about this white haired boy. Not anymore though.
Ever since he’s decided to step out of his comfort zone and go out, making friends, his life took a huge turn
He definitely has much more friends now compared to back then.
Nanashi occasionally likes to go hangout with the friends he’s made, sometimes its bringing them gifts or helping them, but either way, he’s still happy to go and spend time with them.
Around Blue Sun Street, he likes to stop by Rat Ear and say hi to Nio, or go to Bitwave and greet Sakuma
The both of them come to have some small conversations with him then in that time
He can be found checking in on Kiri in the Ashitobi Lab, sometimes he still helps him if he needs it with anything like that while when he was a temporary assistant
Some days, he goes to the 307 Tower where he can say hello to Sekiyu and Akuta
He shares random interesting facts he discovers sometimes with the two of them. Akuta finds it quite interesting and Sekiyu of course tries to share some interesting facts that she knows of too.
Sometimes when Sekiyu is too busy doing work and doesn’t have time to greet him, he’d usually just leave her a note then, so that when she’s not-so-busy she can read it instead
His next stop after there would be the Manta Swimming Pool.
When he has time, he brings Natsukage and Yukinaga some snacks after they’re done practicing. Yukinaga appreciates the gesture and gladly accepts it and thanks him. Natsukage however may not say it directly all the time, but Nanashi knows he too appreciates the things he brings
Yukinaga tries to laugh it off with Nanashi still “Haha, I guess Orca-kun is not the most direct person, is he?” he says
“Suppose so!” he responds
Miumi hangs around near the street frequently, and as a result, her and Nanashi do end up talking often. Sometimes it’s simple “how have you been”s and other times it’s just random nonsense brought up from nowhere, like the zoo and such.
When walking around, regularly visiting his friends, making his way through the market, and strolling through town Nanashi thinks he just couldn’t be more grateful. He couldn’t be anymore grateful to have the friends he does now.
Back then he barely had anyone else to talk to, most his days were just meaningless, same, day-to-day things he did to pass time.
He thought maybe leaving would upset the people around him
Luckily though, he doesn’t think that anymore. He can go out, have a normal routine, and enjoy his days more.
The atmosphere in Sunset Hill can be truly comforting, ‘it’s a great place that one can go to for relaxation’ as the majority would say
‘Auntie Yasune’ is one of the first people he goes to when in Sunset Hill
Not only does he feel such comfort in Nemochi shop, but also When he’s around, she gives him some really delicious salty biscuits and rock candy along with mango juice
“Thank you for letting me come by again, Auntie Yasune” the boy says with gratitude
“Of course, come again and any time. Hohohoh.”
Since Inari Drugstore is pretty near, he drops by there too.
Shitara likes to challenge Nanashi to games of hanafuda. She always seems to win, but when Nanashi does end up winning a few rounds sometimes he seems to take it as such an accomplishment
“Wooooohoooooo!!! I win!!” Nanashi expresses, raising his arms up into the air
“You seem quite happy about it”
“Yes, this rarely happens so I take it as a big win, it’s not bad is it?” he says a little worried
“Hey, I never said it was a bad thing. You should definitely celebrate victories”
“Oh alright then. Thank you, Shitara”
Other than that, he also visits Hakuhi at the shrine and greets Takamiya when he sees him.
Nanashi is an Honorary Taste-tester for Shiren, he doesn’t mind this since it’s another thing he can do in his days. Plus getting to try new possible flavors and give her his feedback is a really nice exchange
Shiren would occasionally ask Nanashi to invite Kaori over for some ramen too
Luckily if Kaori isn’t busy, she’d be able to come by and chat with Shiren. Both think its very nice to have her around, and maybe so for her aswell as a break.
Of course, Can’t forget about those twins who’re almost always in Twilight Park
“Oh it’s you again mister” Shiroro says and walks up to him, Kuroku follows after.
“Have you found something more interesting to do this time?”
“Ah- Well, my life definitely has more things in it than it did before!” the white-haired boy tried to answer
Kuroku turns his head and exchanges a glance Shiroro “Yeah, this guy’s still as boring as ever”
Nanashi scratches his head “Hm. I guess life’ll still be ordinary for most, right?” he shrugs
“We’ll make it less boring for you today.” Shiroro says “Play with us mister”
He ends up agreeing and playing with them ‘till sunset …. ironic
There is truly something charming about Coco Alley
it feels like a very elegant part of town and yet so chill
Most people’s first go-to place when arriving at Coco Alley is Café Lapin
Most of these days it’s just Rocca who’s around, and though she’s doing it all by herself, she doesn’t seem too bothered by it. As “It’s good to try and look on the bright side, like the Café getting more customers for instance” according to her, of course
Nanashi does make sure to visit to check in on her from time to time and see that she is okay, hoping so.
Flower Bee also adds a nice feeling to Coco Alley
Chino is mostly found there, watering the flowers around or making herb tea. When Nanashi visits at these times, he is invited over the tea.
Haruya would be coming back from deliveries by then and he joins them over the tea and biscuits, and have fun little chats. That’s how they’d meet aside from the times Nanashi sees Haruya on the street while he’s out delivering.
He may find Eruno and Potete running around this part of town when he goes there and sometimes Aira is there too running with them, he makes sure to say hi and ask for their wellness when he does.
the Honey Garden, where Moroku works, has had much more students contribute to planting the flowers, as a result, the garden now looks colorful than it did last time. If that was even possible, Nanashi thinks.
Moroku seems to be doing really well whenever Nanashi comes by to say hello, that’s a very good thing, he’s very happy for him about it
Akashi has gotten more courage in recent times too, he comes by the garden as well but does much more than just lay on the bench
Nanashi goes to Rinata whenever he feels like expanding his wardrobe a little. He doesn’t know too much about fashion, but if he likes something and thinks it looks good, he’d take it.
Ever since he stopped being a shut-in, he’s been buying more clothes to wear, and especially from the lady who originally made his middle school uniform, that one he likes so much.
He coincidentally sees Misato there sometimes discussing and sharing ideas with Momori
Nanashi’d ask Misato how her children are
“I’m delighted you remember to think of my chilldreen. They’re fine, thank you.”
“Good to know!”
Nanashi regularly still goes stargazing with Sora
It wasn’t just a one-time thing.
They go stargazing at least once a week. If they’re not stargazing, then Sora would be teaching and quizzing Nanashi on astronomy related things in Spica planetarium.
Nanashi thinks it’s very nice that he gets to take sora stargazing often, since Sora really likes watching the stars. Plus, he gets to get out of the planetarium more. That’s an incredible thing.
The more time they spend together the more it feels Sora warms up to Nanashi and they become better friends
Nanashi is glad he could help out someone who was once like him too, and even be his friend.
Sometimes it’s crazy for Nanashi to think of the drastic changes that have happened to his life in the past year.
All of his previous peers in Mashiro Town told him to stop coming, though a lot of them used to be his friends. It was the main reason he moved.
He’d never have thought he’d have another chance to make new friends in this town when he first came here, but he did, and it’s a big relief for him that he did, because it shows that maybe not everyone wants him to never show his face again forever.
and you know what? he can live with that.
Despite it’s kind of negative reputation, Break Passage doesn’t fail to create a somewhat enjoyable atmosphere around to it. Though it is a little different from all the other places in town, and violence is super common, some can’t help but still go there.
Whenever Nanashi goes there, it’s to see his friends who are there.
Of course he tries to be careful as much as he can but to hangout with some of his friends, he thinks it’s worth it.
A lot of times, his reason for going is to watch Akitaka, Enri, and Asuto’s band rehearsals. He cheers after they finish playing songs and though it may be just a practice, they all still appreciate his support.
Hell, sometimes after they’re done rehearsing, they’d all take a picture together with Nanashi. Some of them are kept with him and the others are kept with them.
Akitaka once even invited Nanashi over to lunch with his family. Azusa and Ryuuri both greeted him welcomely, and Nanashi even got to meet the rest of their family.
Kirara was also invited over that day, so he got to say catch up with more friends.
These days, when Jin has enough of the free time, he goes to Rocket Park, especially on weekends, to play many of his favorite games. Hiyu makes sure to join him when she’s also free so that they can compete. As for Nanashi, he’s invited to come and play with them both sometimes. It’s a very fun occasion for all three of them considering the variety of games available at Rocket Park.
Nanase makes sure to pay a visit to Yuuto too at Yazuki Times, since it’s where he can mostly be found, anyways.
Yuuto has improved a bit more with his health, but still the same. Regardless, the white haired boy still comes by whenever he can to tell Yuuto about interesting things he thinks might be helpful
and maybe to make sure he’s not dead
Sweet Beach is such a lively place to visit, especially in the summer. It just seems like the perfect place to go to during those times, it feels…
nostalgic
in a way
Nanase would think so too, even though he’s been visiting it recently and hasn’t even lived in this town for a year.
Suppose nostalgia can come to him very randomly, even if it’s not-so-nostalgic at all.
when he’s in the mood to snuggle up with a fuzzy creature, he heads over to Fairytale Forest, where Hitohito works.
Hitohito welcomes Nanashi upon seeing him enter the café and shakes his hand, Hitohito always seems very excited whenever Nanashi walks in, his excitement may never die down. That’s a good thing however, its great to be enthusiastic about even the little things in life.
Nanase makes sure to bring Mary candy when he can as they both do like it, and he thinks sharing things you like with friends makes it much more enjoyable, isn’t that right?
Meru still seems to sleep during her shifts at work and although she has been awake for more minutes recently than in the past, it’s still hard to go say hi whenever Nanashi goes to visit her, so, he’s decided to think of a specific time beforehand by asking the nearby customers and regulars of times she’s more likely to be awake at.
The both of them are able to chat that way without her being disturbed, and if Meru falls asleep again, the white-haired boy would just silently say goodbye and leave.
When Nanase yet again wanders around Sweet Beach and finds himself near the benches in front of the beach, he may see Saaya, and when he does, he makes sure to wave and smile at her. He hopes she’s doing much better now.
Speaking of The beach, Izuchi seems to still like hanging out around there a lot, so he pretty much knows where to find him if he needs him. Izuchi thinks maybe making Nanashi help him collect seashells whenever he comes around might be beneficial rather than just having him be there. Nanashi obviously always likes to help, he thinks its nice that he’s of use to at least someone.
The two of them have small talks every-now and then, although Izuchi just keeps silent to some of the things Nanashi asks him and doesn’t respond. It is a little odd but Nanase doesn’t think he minds too much.
After he’s done helping, he puts all the seashells he’s found in a bucket around for Izuchi and says goodbye.
Meu sometimes gives Nanashi interesting random information she knows when he’s at Star Brink and he tries to listen very carefully. Other times he looks around at the accessories in Star Brink, a lot of them are very pretty he thinks. Meu lets him try some of them on when he wants to.
Whenever Little Berry isn’t too crowded and that old lady isn’t around, but Nanashi happens to be so, Sagara gives him some cake to share with her. They discuss things like recent plans from organization that’s after her and how she would act next, with Nanashi saying he’ll definitely help, They’re like work partners at that. Although both of them think it’s fun to converse with the other.
Nanase walks around places the town as wind breezes pass by, playing with his short hair a little. Then there he goes again thinking of just how grateful and happy he is to have friends again, and one’s he’s actually still regularly hanging out with too.
People back at Mashiro town clearly did not like him anymore and stopped being his friends, it does sadden him a little, but spending too much time thinking of bad memories isn’t the best so he doesn’t think about it much.
But since moving and stopping being a shut-in it feels like he’s started over, fresh and new.
sometimes he thinks, his old friends in his old town left him, so….. would that mean his current friends would leave eventually leave him too and not want to be his friends anymore..?
no…no, these thoughts are awful, they haunt him sometimes but he tries not to think of that and focus more on the present. the boy tries reassuring himself, it’s okay. His friends won’t end their friendship with him.
He has friends again and that’s a wonderful thing. He couldn’t be more grateful. The boy loves his friends.
