Jinsoul frantically looked around her room for her missing sock, she had packed everything else but that pesky little sock had suddenly disappeared. She liked to think that she was quite an organized person so this was very unnatural. She and 9 of her friends were going to spend a week in Haseul and Yeojin's family home to meet up before the college year started so she was trying to hurry but she still couldn't find her sock! Her doorbell rang just as she went under her bed and immediately her phone got two notifications. As she tried to get out from under there, she bashed her head on the underside of the bed.Rubbing her head, she picked up her phone and clicked on messages.HaSoo:
Bitch we're here, open the fucking doorJungie<3:
Hey princess, we're here now! Can you please open the door?Jungie<3:
Don't feel like you have to rush, we'll wait for you, take your time
HaSoo:
We've been waiting for ages, hurry tf upShe smiled at how different the messages were from her best friends, which was funny as she knew Jungeun and Sooyoung were very similar. The two of them had come to pick her up from her apartment so really it was only fair for her to open her door to them.'Finally,' Sooyoung sighed, 'It's been hours.''It's literally been 2 minutes,' Jungeun deadpanned.'Whatever,' said Sooyoung, 'can we just go now? I don't want to be late.'Jinsoul looked up worriedly, 'But my sock...''It's just a sock, you'll be fine without one sock,' said Sooyoung impatiently.Jungeun glared at her pointedly, 'We're finding the sock.''It's okay, Soo is right, it's just a sock,' said Jinsoul, even though the missing sock really was stressing her out.'No, I know how anxious you'll get if we leave it and I don't want to see you like that, we're finding it,' Jungeun commanded.Jinsoul's heart bloomed at Jungeun's thoughtfulness but she just nodded. It didn't take them too long to find it (Sooyoung had found it at the bottom of the laundry basket) so they piled into Jungeun's car.'Thank god we're going now,' said Sooyoung, lying down across the entire back seat.'Why are you so stressed about getting there early anyways?' Jungeun called her out.'No reason, I just want to be punctual,' Sooyoung said quickly.Jinsoul narrowed her eyes, 'It's Jiwoo isn't it?''No,' Sooyoung lied. The youngest laughed from the driver's seat, 'You need to get better at lying Soo.''And you need to confess soon,' Sooyoung shot back.Jungeun suddenly swerved to the left, 'What?''Jungeun focus on the road,' said Jinsoul, trying to ignore her bubbling jealousy. Did this mean that Jungeun liked someone?'Sorry princess,' Jungeun flashed her a smile.Jinsoul felt her cheeks heat up at the nickname. It wasn't anything new, Jungeun had been calling her "princess" since they met but that didn't stop the older girl from blushing every time she heard it.'This is exactly what I meant,' said Sooyoung under her breath.'Huh?' said Jungeun at the same time as Jinsoul asked 'What do you mean?''Nevermind,' Sooyoung muttered, 'just keep driving.'——'Hey y'all!' yelled Haseul as all her friends poured into her house. 'How's it goin'?'Sooyoung looked at her questioningly, when did Haseul become southern?'If you're wondering what's up with her, she's tipsy,' Yeojin explained, seeing everyone's curious stares.Vivi lowered her voice, 'And when she's tipsy, we all know she becomes Texan.''I heard that!' said Haseul, 'Anyways! I've got to explain the rooming arrangements!'Jinsoul sincerely hoped she wouldn't have to be in the same room as Jungeun. Her heart was already about to explode and she didn't know what would happen if she was that close to the younger every night for 7 days.'So! Vi and I will be in my parent's room,' Haseul started.Sooyoung saw this as an opening to tease her 'Ooh you're totally going to f-'
Haseul frowned, 'There are two beds and we wouldn't do that anyways.''But you totally want to,' Sooyoung said mockingly.'Shut up Sooyoung, you and Jiwoo are sleeping on the couch,' Haseul directed.Sooyoung immediately turned red and made eye contact with Jiwoo. She scanned the room quickly and sighed in relief when she saw that there were two couches.
'Why do your parents have separate beds?' Yerim piped up.'Oh they hate each other,' said Haseul casually.'Straight couples,' Jungeun muttered.'Yerim you can sleep in my bunk in Yeojin and I's room,' said Haseul, continuing the rooming plan.Yeojin and Yerim looked at each other and cheered.'Yeojin you better not do anything dumb,' said Haseul sternly.Yeojin gasped in mock offense, 'Why would I do anything dumb?'Haseul looked straight at Yerim, 'If she does anything dumb, you must tell me or Vivi.'Yerim nodded frantically, fearing what would happen if she didn't.'Chaewon and Hyejoo, you two can sleep in the study, there are some spare mattresses that you can pull out,' Haseul continued.'You better not stay up all night,' said Haseul, 'I know you two like to game but please do that during the day.'Chaewon just shot her a peace sign and Hyejoo gave a thumbs up.Haseul acknowledged them and looked at her list again, 'Heejin and Hyunjin-'
Hyunjin cut her off, 'We can sleep outside.'Haseul looked up and smiled happily, 'Would you do that?'When they nodded, Haseul pointed to a cabinet that had camping supplies.Jinsoul sighed, luck was not on her side, she would have to room with Jungeun.'Jinsoul and Jungeun! You two get to sleep in the guest room,' said Haseul animatedly.
'I'm sorry there's only one bed, it's a double though so you should have space.' Haseul tried to look apologetic but just came across as smug, 'It's also a bit cold in there so just beware.'Jinsoul's luck only got worse, there was only one bed? It wasn't like she had never slept in the same bed as Jungeun before but now her heart was racing more than ever. She didn't really know why because friends sleep together all the time, so why was Jungeun so different?——Haseul had lied, it wasn't "a bit cold", it was positively freezing. How did she expect anyone to be able to sleep peacefully like that? Even in the dark, Jinsoul could still see every single one of her goosebumps clearly, that was how cold it was.She was already covered in as many blankets as she possibly could be and was still dying of the cold so that really only left her with one option.'Jungie?' Jinsoul called out in a small voice.'Yes, princess?' Jungeun asked concernedly. 'What's wrong?'Then Jungeun touched Jinsoul's arm and gasped, 'God you're really cold! I thought I was the sensitive one!''Shut up and hold me,' Jinsoul demanded, she didn't mean to snap but she really was freezing.'Of course,' Jungeun pulled Jinsoul into her arms, holding the older girl's waist, 'is this okay?'Jinsoul was surprised at how unaffected Jungeun was by the cold and snuggled into her warmth. Their close proximity was also helping as Jinsoul would always heat up when she was flustered. 'It's perfect,' she whispered.Jungeun smiled in the dark and kissed her forehead softly, 'Sleep well Soul.''Don't call me that,' Jinsoul mumbled.'I don't think I can do that princess,' Jungeun replied, still smiling.Jinsoul buried her face in Jungeun's chest, 'Don't call me that either.''Well you are my princess, aren't you? So how could I not?' Jungeun stated affectionately.'I'm not
your
anything, I'm not even your girlfriend,' said Jinsoul bitterly.I know, but I wish you were
was what Jungeun almost said but she held her tongue.——It was the second night and Jungeun was once again spooning Jinsoul because it was still cold as fuck. To make matters worse, there was a loud storm outside and Jinsoul was deathly afraid of thunderstorms. The flashbacks kept coming and Jinsoul was desperately trying to think of something else.
'Help!' Mr. Jung yelled, trying to hold on to the edge of their sailboat but he kept missing.
The waves were coming up higher and higher now and four-year-old Jinsoul held her mother's arm tightly and curled up in the bottom of the boat.
Jinsoul watched as her father struggled to keep up with the waves, hearing the thunder and seeing the lightning. Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck the ocean and Mr. Jung slipped under the water.
Mrs. Jung frenziedly called out for help but the help never came.
Jungeun could see Jinsoul visibly shaking and pulled her closer to her.Jinsoul felt the tears streaming down her cheeks but there was nothing she could do to stop them, the trauma that was associated with thunderstorms was so strong for her.'I've got you, don't worry, everything's going to be alright, nothing can hurt you,' Jungeun whispered soothingly, trying to reassure the anxious girl. She sobbed into Jungeun's shoulder, feeling the younger girl press tender kisses to her temple. Normally she would've pushed her away however she couldn't find the strength in herself to do so.Soon, Jinsoul had slightly calmed down but she was still very shaken up, she felt Jungeun's arms around her loosen their grip and the blonde got up.'Do you want me to get Sooyoung?' she asked.Jinsoul already missed the contact even though it had been less than five seconds, there was no way she could let Jungeun leave the room. 'No please, just hug me,' she stretched her arms out.Jungeun complied, gently stroking the older girl's back.Really Jungeun didn't need to go fetch Sooyoung as she came bursting into the room barely five minutes later when a loud rumble of thunder occurred.'Oh gosh, Soul are you alright?' Sooyoung asked in a panicked voice.Jinsoul nodded slightly and leaned back into Jungeun's embrace, 'I'm okay.'Sooyoung sighed in relief, she knew how bad thunderstorms were for her best friend and always worried about her.She sat down on the bed and hugged Jinsoul, 'Get me if something really bad happens, okay?''Okay,' Jinsoul agreed, feeling slightly better about the storm.——The storm had blown over quite quickly and you wouldn't even be able to tell that there even was one the night before just by looking outside.Fluffy white clouds dotted themselves through the sky which was otherwise completely clear and bright blue.'The weather's awful, isn't it?' asked Haseul, holding an ice pack to her head and eating a piece of bread with nothing on it, it hadn't even been toasted!Jinsoul looked at her questioningly, wondering what had happened to Haseul and why she didn't like nice weather.'She got excited because of the storm last night and went out to celebrate, I tried to get her back in the house but she bashed her head against the door and gave herself a concussion,' Vivi explained, shaking her head at how ridiculous the whole thing sounded.Jinsoul just nodded but still stared at Haseul judgmentally. She looked up at the sky and saw a cloud move slightly and the sun came peeking out from behind. Still overwhelmed from the night before, she tried to distract herself with other ideas. She was brought out of her thoughts by Jungeun who tapped her back and pulled out a chair for her.
Jinsoul sat down at the table and once again lost herself in her thoughts. This was quite impressive as there were 11 other loud young adults at said table, all shouting over each other. She felt Jungeun's hand take her own and fiddled with the younger's fingers.
'Hey, are you okay?' Jungeun asked, looking adorably concerned which just made Jinsoul feel worse as she knew she was just wasting Jungeun's time.Jinsoul just nodded and looked down at her food.Jungeun understood and stopped asking but squeezed Jinsoul's hand, 'I'm here if you need me,' she whispered softly.'Thank you,' Jinsoul replied quietly.'No problem princess,' Jungeun said, sending her that charming smile that always made her go crazy.——On the third morning of their stay at Haseul and Yeojin's family home, Jinsoul was shocked to find out that half of them had already gone out.'Since y'all took forever to get ready, we're like an hour late!' Haseul yelled from outside, 'They've taken all the cars so we're going to have to squeeze into mine!'So that was why Vivi, Heejin, Hyunjin, Chaewon, Yerim and Hyejoo weren't there.Jinsoul was surprised that Jungeun was still there as she knew the younger normally got up very early. She brought it up to Jungeun as they exited the house.'I was waiting for you,' said Jungeun, 'otherwise I would've left ages ago.'Jinsoul felt a blush come creeping up her neck and just walked over to the car so Jungeun wouldn't see it.'I call shotgun!' she heard Yeojin scream as she came barreling down the stairs and out through the front door.Haseul put her hands on her hips, 'Absolutely not, you're way too small.'Yeojin pouted but got into the back seat anyways.Sooyoung slid into the passenger seat and smirked, 'I guess that means I get shotgun then.'Jiwoo frowned, 'Hey! No fair!'Jinsoul ignored her friends' bickering and instead opted to check out the car, what she noticed was the number of seats, 'Hey Seul, how are we going to fit in this? There are six of us...''Oh right!' Haseul looked like she had only just realized that, 'Well I guess one of y'all is going to have to sit in someone's lap.'Yeojin pulled a face, 'I am not sitting in someone's lap.''Yeah sorry guys but neither am I,' said Jiwoo, mirroring Yeojin's expression.Haseul looked at Jinsoul apologetically, 'It is what it is.''But what about seatbelts?' Jinsoul asked anxiously.Haseul shrugged, 'Jungeun can be your seatbelt.'Jungeun sensed Jinsoul's discomfort (even if she had the wrong idea why) and squeezed her hand, 'Relax princess, I'll hold you tight, don't worry.'Jinsoul knew that Jungeun was trying to be comforting but really that just made her feel more stressed. And because Jungeun was a gentlewoman, she opened the car door for Jinsoul who swooned internally at the gesture. They all got into the car and Jinsoul felt herself get pulled into Jungeun's lap.Haseul turned the car on and started driving.'Where are we even going?' asked Yeojin, annoyed at how long they had been in the car (it had been barely 2 minutes).Haseul smirked evilly, 'It's a surprise.'Yeojin groaned, 'Will you at least tell us how long it will take?''I don't know, maybe an hour or two?' Haseul shrugged.Jinsoul froze up, she had to be in Jungeun's lap for over an hour?At that exact moment, she felt Jungeun's arms snake around her waist and hold her tightly.'I forgot, I said I'd hold you tight, sorry,' Jungeun looked at her apologetically, 'now I'm your human seat belt!' Jungeun grinned and tightened her grip on Jinsoul.Jinsoul wished that that was the reason why she was so tense but she couldn't push that frustration onto Jungeun, not when she was looking at her so proudly. She honestly didn't understand how Jungeun could be so chill about all of this. It must've meant that the younger girl would never like her back.
'You're so tense, if we got into a car crash right now, you'll go flying no matter how tightly I hold you,' Jungeun said, still smiling, 'loosen up princess.'Now Jinsoul had no choice but to lean into Jungeun who kissed her shoulder. The older girl could feel Sooyoung's teasing stares and wished that she could evaporate.'Why do I have to sit in your lap? Why couldn't you sit in my lap, you're literally shorter and probably lighter than me,' Jinsoul complained out loud.'I don't really know about the second part, I have muscles,' said Jungeun.'So do I and I'm sure that they'd be heavier than your noodle arms,' Jinsoul flexed her arms and swore she saw pink dusting over Jungeun's cheeks.'Hey!' Jungeun protested, although she didn't look mad at all, 'I don't have noodle arms!' She took off her leather jacket and tensed up her arms.Jinsoul was shocked, Jungeun's arm muscles were so defined and the older girl knew she was blushing hard.'Oh wow,' Jinsoul breathed out, still in surprise, 'I've never known.'Now it was the younger girl's turn to blush and she rubbed her arms bashfully, 'It's not that great, I'm no Heejin that's for sure.''No seriously Jungeun wow,' Jinsoul had nothing to say other than 'wow', since when did Jungeun become so fit?Jungeun's ears were now bright red and she just buried her head in Jinsoul's neck out of embarrassment, 'Thanks....''Oi stop flirting!' Yeojin said, trying to not throw up (poor baby had motion sickness). Two hours later, Yeojin asked when they would be there (for the 15th time) and Haseul finally had an answer.'We're here now!' Haseul announced and immediately Jiwoo woke up from her sleep. All of them looked out of the car windows and were disappointed.'Why did you bring us all the way here when all there is is grass!' Yeojin finally exploded, after recovering from the shock.Haseul chuckled at everyone's shocked faces.'You pranked us!' Yeojin accused, pointing her finger in Haseul's face.Haseul kept laughing, 'No you idiots, I'm not that cruel, I'll show you where we're going.'They got out of the car and followed Haseul behind a hill.'Voila!' Haseul exclaimed, doing jazz hands and showing more grass.'Seul this is still just grass,' said Sooyoung, annoyed at her time being wasted.Haseul smiled sheepishly, 'Oops, wrong hill, let's keep going!'Sooyoung groaned, 'That hill is even higher than this one.''And steeper!' Jiwoo added.'I promise that this is the correct one,' said Haseul, not looking sincere at all.So they trekked up the next hill and there was still nothing.'Haseul!' Sooyoung yelled, looking out at even more grass.'I'm sorry! I thought this was the correct one!' Haseul defended, panting.Jinsoul felt her legs nearly give out and saw the rest of them looking just like her.'The next one is the one, I swear!' Haseul said, trying to mask her panting.'We are
not
going up another one of these stupid hills!' Sooyoung put her foot down.'I'll go,' Jungeun offered, not looking the slightest bit affected by their climbing, 'and I'll come back if there's anything.''You would?' Haseul asked hopefully.'Yeah sure, see y'all in a bit!' Jungeun waved and headed off.It was not long before Jungeun came back, her face red, not because of the climbing but out of happiness, 'Guys you have got to come and see what's back here!'Sooyoung groaned, 'Do we really have to?''I mean, we don't have to...' Jungeun trailed off.'I think it would be nice to check it out,' Jinsoul said, curious as to what was behind the hill.Jungeun's expression immediately changed, 'We're going behind the hill.''But-' Sooyoung tried to protest.Jungeun glared at her, 'We're going behind the hill,' she repeated.'Please Sooyoungie!' Jiwoo begged, looking at Sooyoung.Sooyoung agreed but then they discovered that Haseul and Yeojin had disappeared.'Hurry up!' Haseul called out from afar, 'I wanna see the rest of them!Jungeun snorted, 'She wants to see Vivi.'They walked up the next hill which was a lot less steep and easier to go up and at the top there was a cliff and an amazing view.
'Hey where are the rest?' Jungeun asked, wondering why the others weren't there.Haseul smiled, 'They're down there,' she pointed to the other side of the cliff where they were hanging around a huge lake.Heejin and Hyunjin were trying to play soccer in the little space that they had and Vivi was desperately trying to keep them from doing anything dumb (like jumping into the lake). Yerim and Chaewon were playing hide and seek in the trees and Hyejoo was sitting under one, reading a book. Jinsoul didn't even know that Hyejoo read books.'How do we get down there?' asked Jiwoo.'Easy! We jump!' Haseul exclaimed. Then she burst out laughing when she saw everyone's expressions, 'No! Not like that! There's a special place to jump from!'Sooyoung sighed in relief, 'Thank god, please take us there.''Sure thing!' said Haseul.Jinsoul was nervous, she didn't like the idea of jumping down to somewhere that was so far down, even if Haseul had said that there was a special place.Jungeun noticed this and came up to her, 'You okay, princess?'Jinsoul nodded, even though she knew that Jungeun didn't believe her.'Hey, you don't have to go down if you don't want to, you know that right?'
Jinsoul sighed, 'I know, I just don't want to be the only one up here.''I'll stay with you,' Jungeun offered, taking Jinsoul's hand.'Is that okay with you?' Jinsoul asked, she knew Jungeun would've loved to go down there, 'Don't you want to go?''I would, but I would want to be with you more,' said Jungeun, leading Jinsoul toward the edge.Jinsoul blushed and sat down next to Jungeun. They looked out at the sun setting and the sky was turning purple.'It's really pretty here,' Jinsoul said.Jungeun turned her head, 'You're prettier,' she said simply.Jinsoul went even redder and hid her face, 'You can't say stuff like that!'Jungeun just laughed and looked back out at the sky.The sunset really was beautiful and Jinsoul supposed it would've been romantic if they were together but that would never happen.(Little did she know that Jungeun had been staring at her adoringly for the past five minutes).Even though it was summer, the sun tended to set pretty early anyways and it got cold in the evening quite quickly so Jinsoul was shivering quite a lot. She had always been pretty fine with the cold so she didn't really know why it was so different now.Suddenly she felt a weight around her shoulders and upper body and became a lot warmer, she then realized that it was Jungeun's leather jacket. She tried to take it off and give it back to Jungeun but she refused, 'You're absolutely freezing, you need it!''But then you'll be cold!' Jinsoul protested.'Princess, I've had it for this long and you're way colder than me, please take it,' Jungeun wrapped it around her once again.'Now you're going to be freezing,' Jinsoul whined.Jungeun smiled, 'I'm warm-blooded!'Jinsoul rolled her eyes, 'So am I Jungeun.''I meant that yes, I will get cold but that I want you to be warm anyways, you're more important,' Jungeun said, smiling at her.Jinsoul blushed again but tried to protest, 'But-''Look princess, I don't want you catching hypothermia,' Jungeun said firmly. 'If you really care about my warmth that much, I'll just hold onto you so we're both warm, okay?'Jinsoul just nodded and thanked Jungeun before resting her head on her shoulder. She felt Jungeun wrap an arm around her and kiss her cheek and just melted in the younger girl's embrace.——'God could you be any more obvious?' asked Sooyoung, sitting beside Jinsoul on her makeshift couch bed.Jinsoul smiled dreamily, 'She just looks so adorable, look!' She pointed to Jungeun who was desperately trying to clean the dishes which had already been through the dishwasher but she had deemed them "still dirty". Her eyebrows were knitted in concentration. It was around eleven pm at night on the day before they were set to all go back home before the college term started and everyone was asleep except for Sooyoung, Jinsoul and Jungeun. Jiwoo was fast asleep on the couch right opposite Sooyoung's, looking extremely peaceful. How she could sleep so deeply with the lights on and loud talking was beyond Jinsoul.'Isn't it way past her bedtime?' Sooyoung asked, confused because Jungeun would always be knocked out at ten pm sharp unless there was some sort of party.'She's been sleeping later now, you know?' said Jinsoul, also having noticed that Jungeun was still awake despite it being past ten.Sooyoung quirked her eyebrows suggestively, 'And how would you know that?''Sooyoung!' Jinsoul shoved her best friend and hid her face.Sooyoung feigned innocence, 'What? I wasn't suggesting anything!'Jinsoul rolled her eyes, 'Whatever, what's your point?''Well, when are you going to say anything to her?' Sooyoung asked, in total seriousness. The black haired girl choked on her saliva, 'What?''When are you going to say anything to her?' Sooyoung repeated, not looking any less serious.'Never!' Jinsoul exclaimed, throwing her hands up.'Why not?' asked Sooyoung.'Because then we'll be awkward as she doesn't like me back,' Jinsoul stated as if it were obvious.Sooyoung stared at her with a dumbfounded expression, 'Do you really think she doesn't like you back?''Of course she doesn't like me back! She's Kim Jungeun for god's sake!'Sooyoung put her head in her hands, 'She literally calls you her princess, don't you think that she's flirting with you?''Not really, she acts like that around a lot of people,' said Jinsoul, it was just a nickname, it didn't mean anything, right?'Don't you think she wants to be your prince?' Sooyoung asked.'I wish,' Jinsoul muttered
'Look, if I can tell you like her without you telling me, I can tell she likes you without her telling me,' Sooyoung was confident in her thoughts.'You're just saying that to make me feel better,' Jinsoul complained.'Last night she carried you to bed,' Sooyoung deadpanned.Jinsoul felt herself blush, 'She's just really caring.''No she isn't, I have never seen her act like that around anyone other than you, ever,' said Sooyoung seriously, 'She went to bed earlier than you yesterday, then she woke up so she could get you to bed as you fell asleep at the dining table, saying that your back would hurt otherwise.''That doesn't have to mean anything,' said Jinsoul, feeling like she was just making excuses.'She carried you
bridal style,' Sooyoung emphasized.'It's a good way to distribute the weight!'
Sooyoung looked at her disapprovingly, 'Aren't you the physics nerd? You and I both know that's not the case.....''I still don't think she likes me back,' Jinsoul was convinced there was no way Jungeun could ever like her back.'Okay fine, what about the fact that she's really protective over you?' asked Sooyoung.'You're protective over me and you clearly don't like me like that,' Jinsoul had a point.'Yes but I'm your best friend,' Sooyoung tried to argue, 'and don't say she's your best friend because you two act like girlfriends.''No we don't!' Jinsoul protested.Sooyoung raised her eyebrows, 'Are you not wearing her hoodie right now?''It smells like her!' Jinsoul defended, tugging at the strings of the hoodie. 'And it's warm!''That's exactly something a girlfriend would say!' Sooyoung teased.Jinsoul groaned, 'I want to be her girlfriend, it's just never going to happen.''It won't if you keep acting like that.''At least I'm doing better than you,' said Jinsoul, trying to make herself feel better.'Nope,' said Sooyoung, popping the "p", 'Jiwoo and I are dating now,' she looked over at her girlfriend who was sleeping peacefully.Jinsoul whined, 'Why didn't you tell me?''I didn't have time, it only happened 15 minutes ago and I've got to worry about you,' Sooyoung justified.'You don't have to worry about me because I'm not going to do anything and she doesn't like me,' Jinsoul crossed her arms.'You're right, she doesn't like you, she's madly in love with you,' said Sooyoung. 'How do you not notice every time she stares at you with heart eyes?''Because she doesn't!' Jinsoul cried.'Please, she's always ogling you,' Sooyoung burst out into laughter.'She does
not
ogle me!' said Jinsoul in a high-pitched voice, clearly embarrassed at the thought.'Who doesn't ogle you?'
Jinsoul's worst fears came true at that moment, Jungeun was standing behind her and had probably heard the entire conversation.'Nobody,' she said hurriedly, hoping that that was the only thing Jungeun had heard.Thankfully, luck was on her side and Jungeun just shrugged and sat down next to her, putting an arm around her.Sooyoung rolled her eyes at the whole exchange and stood up, 'Jinsoul, I love you but you are a dumbass,' she stated before walking off to the bathroom.'What was that about?' Jungeun asked curiously.'Nothing,' Jinsoul said in a panicked voice, 'just drop it.''Okay.......' Jungeun trailed off, looking skeptical but ultimately dropping it.——It was their first week back and Jinsoul had already found herself at a party she didn't want to be at.To make matters worse, there was a loud thunderstorm outside and she could hear that over the loud music. She didn't want to cause a scene because the party was a celebration for Jungeun and Jiwoo's achievements in getting a scholarship. She didn't have to though as someone (a.k.a Jungeun) would always notice when she was uncomfortable, even if it was just the slightest bit. Seconds later, she felt arms wrap around her waist and fingers intertwine with her own.Immediately Jinsoul could tell who it was just based on how gently she was being held, 'Hi Jungie.''Hey princess, is everything alright?' Jungeun asked, her voice laced with concern, she seemed to have noticed Jinsoul's anxiousness.'Of course! Why wouldn't it be?' Jinsoul lied, her voice going higher.'Soul you're even worse at lying than Sooyoung, tell me what's wrong,' Jungeun encouraged softly.'There's a thunderstorm,' Jinsoul admitted, 'I know that it's barely audible over the loud music but it's still making me feel tense and the atmosphere here is giving me a headache,' the last part was also true, Jinsoul could feel a migraine on its way.'Oh princess,' Jungeun held her tighter, 'I am so sorry I didn't think this through, do you want to leave?'Jinsoul nodded slowly, 'I don't think I can though, I'll just feel worse on the way because it would be louder and I'd be alone.'Jungeun laughed, 'You think I'd let you go back on your own in a thunderstorm? I'll obviously come with you!''What? No! This is your party, I don't want you to waste your time on me and my stupid fears that I still can't get over!''Your fears are completely valid, the only thing that's stupid is this party and even I wouldn't mind missing it for a while,' Jungeun pulled out her phone.'What are you doing?' asked Jinsoul.'Ordering a taxi,' said Jungeun simply.Jinsoul gaped at her, 'You know how expensive taxis are nowadays, why don't you just drive?''Because then I can't hold your hand,' said Jungeun, smiling at her sweetly, making Jinsoul quickly flash through every shade of red known to man.The second they stepped outside, Jinsoul realized how much she had taken the loud music for granted and she could now hear the thunder much louder. It was also raining heavily and even just walking to the taxi would get them completely drenchedJungeun squeezed her hand in support, 'I'm right here, nothing will happen,' she said reassuringly.Just then there was a flash of lightning and Jinsoul shrieked and clung to Jungeun as if her life depended on it.They got into the taxi and suddenly Jinsoul burst into tears, hearing the sound of thunder even louder as they were now inside something small and solid.Jungeun wrapped her arms around her and stroked her back gently, feeling the older girl sob into her shirt, 'It's okay to cry, just let it all out.'They arrived at Jinsoul's apartment and ran inside as fast as they could, the rain was still pouring down and neither of them had an umbrella.'I'm sorry,' Jinsoul said when they were finally inside the flat.Jungeun just looked at her confusedly, 'Why?''It's my fault that you aren't enjoying a night which should be about you,' Jinsoul confessed, looking at the floor, 'I also ruined your shirt.''Even for me that party was giving me a headache, I wanted to leave it anyways don't worry,' Jungeun reassured her. 'About my shirt, I don't think you did much, the rain was really what soaked it.' She said, squeezing the excess water from her shirt into the sink. Now Jinsoul's attention was drawn to Jungeun's shirt and she blushed when she realized that it had been white but due to the water, it was now almost completely transparent. She could see Jungeun's bra and abs quite clearly and turned away quickly.'I think you should sleep,' Jungeun announced, breaking the silence, 'you look absolutely exhausted.''As do you,' Jinsoul replied.'All the more reason to go to bed!' Jungeun said enthusiastically. The two went into Jinsoul's room and closed the blinds.'Jungeun?'
'Hm?''Can you stay?' Jinsoul asked, knowing that the night would be extremely difficult if she were alone.'Of course princess,' Jungeun said as she came under the covers next to Jinsoul. There was another sudden rumble of thunder and Jungeun pulled Jinsoul into her arms and held her tight. It was not long before Jungeun fell asleep (she really did sleep like a grandma) but Jinsoul was far from it.
Even if she did feel safe in Jungeun's arms, she would never really get over her fear of thunderstorms, not when they had affected her life so badly before. But hearing Jungeun's soft snores, she figured she could try.'I love you princess,' It was so quiet that Jinsoul might have imagined it but she could swear that she heard Jungeun sleep-talk correctly and grinned before snuggling into Jungeun's chest and falling asleep to the sound of her heartbeat.——Jungeun never thought that she'd ever have sex with a friend but that was exactly what had happened. It wasn't like any other time she had slept with someone (which were a lot of times, Jungeun was quite the fuckgirl) where she would just cut contact with them after the night was over and continue her daily life. No, this time she had slept with not just any friend, but the friend she had been madly in love with since the day they met.
This process of just sleeping around had worked for her because she had never understood how people could fall in love, that was until she fell in love herself. Suddenly after that realization, the only reason she slept around was to get over the adorable girl with the pet fish and try and get rid of her feelings. She was completely stumped and she didn't have much time before said adorable girl woke up.
There was no way she liked her back, they were just friends and always would be, Jungeun had accepted this a long time ago and hadn't really minded it until now. How could their friendship go back to normal now that they had slept together? Even though they had both been drunk, it was impossible to pretend that nothing had happened, they were both stark naked!Suddenly Jinsoul woke up and looked up at her wide-eyed, 'What happened?'Jungeun scratched her neck awkwardly, 'I'm not too sure.''What do we do?' Jinsoul asked, looking hopeful.'Well uh, it didn't mean anything, right? We just act like we normally do,' Jungeun tried.Immediately she knew that that was the exact wrong thing to say as she saw Jinsoul's eyes well up with tears. She could see the pure hurt on Jinsoul's face as she hurriedly put on her clothes, 'I'll just go now then.'Jungeun tried to stop her but the words died on her as she watched Jinsoul leave. She just stared at the door for longer than she could remember, not knowing how to fix things until she was interrupted by a notification on her phone.
SooHag:
What the fuck did you do?You:
I fucked up.SooHag:
I know you did.SooHag:
Please explain why your girl is here crying in my arms because of youSooHag:
You need to fix things.
——Jungeun did not think there would be a day when Jinsoul actively avoided her but she supposed she deserved it. It was just extremely frustrating that she couldn't explain herself. How was she supposed to fix things if Jinsoul bolted every time Jungeun got within a ten foot radius of her?'Why don't you just talk to her?' asked Sooyoung, annoyed that she couldn't spend more time with Jiwoo.'Don't you think that's what I've been trying to do for the past week?' Jungeun responded, putting her head in her hands in anguish.'Every time I even get near her, she suddenly disappears!' Jungeun lamented. 'Did you know she practically lives in the library now? I really need to fix this, it's not good for her to be sleeping so little.........''How do I get her to listen to me? Tell me Sooyoung!' She shook her friend by the shoulders, 'Tell me!''I think the first thing I need to tell you is to calm down, she's not going to want to listen to a crazy lunatic,' Sooyoung advised, swatting Jungeun's arms away.'Okay,' said Jungeun, taking in deep breaths, 'now what?''I'll talk to her,' said Sooyoung, 'She'll come around at some point and listen to you, for now I think you should live as happy as you could possibly be.'Jungeun opened her mouth to interrupt but was quickly silenced by Sooyoung, 'No buts, I think you need a break from thinking about her, you need to stop killing yourself over this, I know you made a mistake but you can fix it, just not right this second.''Thanks Soo, I needed that,' said Jungeun, feeling just slightly better.'No problem,' Sooyoung patted Jungeun on the back, 'hopefully I can get her to listen to you.''Yeah I hope so too,' Jungeun muttered.——'So, how's it going?' asked Sooyoung, running up to Jinsoul in the library.'Terribly,' Jinsoul replied, this was partly true, her eyebags were so big it looked like she hadn't slept in days (this might have actually been the case) and dried tears stained her face.'I can tell,' said Sooyoung bluntly.'Wow thanks, you're so comforting,' Jinsoul looked back at her textbook, 'now leave me alone, I have to study.'Sooyoung pulled the textbook out of Jinsoul's hands, 'No you don't! You've done way more than enough studying, what you need is rest!''I don't!' Jinsoul protested, 'Look at me! I'm totally fine!''No you're not, just take a look at yourself, you look heartbroken.''I am heartbroken! Now give me my textbook!''Not until you talk to her,' said Sooyoung, holding the book out of Jinsoul's reach.'She clearly doesn't want anything to do with me anymore,' Jinsoul muttered bitterly.'How can you say that? She keeps trying to talk to you but you keep avoiding her,' Sooyoung tried.'Yeah but I know that she just wants to be friends and I don't think we could ever go back to how it was,' Jinsoul finally got hold of her textbook and pulled it from Sooyoung's hands.'And avoiding her is going to help? You can't live like this Soul, you're better than this,' Sooyoung looked at her pityingly.'I just need some time before I can be around her, it would be really awkward otherwise because now she knows I like her,' Jinsoul said.'That would be a smart thing to do if she didn't like you back-''Which she doesn't so it's the best thing to do,' Jinsoul interrupted.'Trust me, she loves you more than anything, this only makes it seem like you don't like her back.''If she loves me back then why did she say what she did?' Jinsoul asked, looking up confusedly.Sooyoung sighed, 'I don't know Soul, that's why you need to hear her out.''Okay,' Jinsoul agreed, 'can you go now?''Of course not! I'm your best friend, my purpose in life is to bug you!' Sooyoung exclaimed.Jinsoul groaned, 'Go on then.'Sooyoung wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, 'How good is she in bed?'Jinsoul's eyes lit up before explaining, 'So
good, you wouldn't believe it, too bad it's never going to happen again,' she looked down forlornly.'It's highly likely that it will seeing as both of you as horny as fuck,' Sooyoung said matter-of-factly.
Jinsoul turned red and hid her face, 'Maybe....'——Haseul walked into the canteen and saw Sooyoung heading straight towards her. The two of them were both walking at a great speed and crashed into each other.'Woah Soo! Why do you look so pissed?'
'We need to get Romeo and Juliet together, and quickly, because otherwise they'll kill themselves,' Sooyoung announced in a grim voice.
Haseul just looked at her confusedly, 'Who are- Oh! Those two idiots! What have they done now?''I don't know, that's the problem! They need to talk!'
'I think you're stressed,' Haseul observed, patting Sooyoung on the back.'Of course I'm stressed! My besties aren't talking!' Sooyoung wailed.Haseul frowned at her, 'Am I not your bestie?''You're obviously my bestie but- oh god,' Sooyoung put her head in her hands and groaned, 'Seul I need your help.'Haseul saluted, 'Always happy to help!'——'Hey Soul, what's up?' Haseul waved cheerily.'Hi Seulie, what do you want?' Jinsoul asked tiredly, she was still not sleeping well and constantly studying.'So I was wondering if you could let me borrow your microphone, I have to record something for an assignment and mine broke last night,' said Haseul, trying to act as sad as she possibly could be.(This was a lie, her microphone was working perfectly.)'Sure, when do you need it by?'
'Now? I can just record it at yours!' Haseul proposed.'Why not?' Jinsoul agreed, gathering her things. When Jinsoul walked into her bedroom to get the microphone for Haseul she heard the door suddenly lock and looked up in fear. She didn't even have a lock on her door, what the fuck? The worst thing was that Jungeun was in the room too.
'Seul let me out please!' She called out.'No! Not until you talk it out!' Haseul refused.'How did you even get in here?' Jinsoul asked, glaring at Jungeun.'Sooyoung kind of shoved me in here without telling me why and told me to wait for you before locking the door,' said Jungeun, shrugging.Jinsoul looked around her room for a pin to pick the lock.'Come on princess, don't be like that,' Jungeun insisted, 'hear me out please.''You don't get to call me that anymore,' said Jinsoul coldly, before searching her room again. It was likely Jungeun actually had a valid explanation but Jinsoul was still too hurt to properly listen to her.'When I said that we should just act as we normally would-'Jinsoul interrupted her, 'We can, just not now, I need to get over you first before any of that.''That's not what I meant, I mean that I don't really think that-'Jungeun was interrupted again, 'Great so now you want to unfriend me!''No!' Jungeun exclaimed, 'I mean yes! I don't want us to be friends anymore!''Fine, be like that then. Aha!' Jinsoul had finally found the pin behind her bed and started to pick the lock.'Please just listen,' Jungeun begged.Jinsoul turned around and glowered at her, 'Give me one good reason why I should listen to you.''Because I love you,' said Jungeun, her expression changing.'What?' Jinsoul looked up at her from the floor in disbelief, 'No you don't!''I do princess, believe me,' Jungeun assured, pulling Jinsoul up from the ground.'But then why......' she trailed off.'I don't want things to go back to they way they were or for you to be my friend because I want you to be my girlfriend,' Jungeun smiled. 'I know I said stupid things and that cannot be excused. I was scared and I didn't want to ruin out friendship. I'm in love with you and I always will be, please know that.'It was a relief to Jinsoul that Jungeun actually liked her back, she had had no idea how she was going to try to get over her before. 'Are you sure?' she asked, hoping that Jungeun wasn't just saying that to make her feel better.'More than anything, I love you so much my heart might explode,' Jungeun stated, looking at her seriously before laughing slightly.Jinsoul giggled, 'I love you too,' she responded before asking, 'So uh, what are we?''I'd like it if we were girlfriends but it's fine if that's too much,' Jungeun offered, scared she would come off as pushy.'No no no, it's not too much,' Jinsoul promised. She had already waited for so long, she didn't know if she could handle any longer.Suddenly time seemed to slow and the two were leaning in.Jungeun's arms found Jinsoul's waist and their lips met. They pulled away after a while, both breathless, 'Was that okay?' Jungeun whispered, red faced.'Of course, you're cute when you're flustered you know,' Jinsoul said, not realizing that she too was blushing.'I am not cute!' Jungeun grumbled.'Yes you are now shut up and kiss me,' Jinsoul demanded.Jungeun was all too happy to comply, letting Jinsoul tangle her hands in her hair.'Aww look they're kissing!' Sooyoung whipered loudly to Haseul. They had been watching the entire exchange from the gap between the door and the wall and Sooyoung was squealing.'Wow who knew that the great and mighty Ha Sooyoung was a hopeless romantic,' Haseul teased, watching her friend cry about how cute it all was.'Shut up I've been waiting for this moment for years,' Sooyoug shoved Haseul to the side, trying to get a better view.'Oh damn it's getting heated,' Sooyoung reported, watching as Jungeun pulled Jinsoul into her lap.'Oh- oh! Clothes are coming off! I think that's enough!'
